Hullo! 💜 For the OC Codex Prompt: 12 for Emmaera (because I can't picture her drunk and think it will be funny, but if she doesn't drink choose another character!) and 15 for Arianwen? :3

Emma's was really hard! After some consideration, I concluded that she would not think she was drunk even when she was really drunk. I wrote another Zevran letter for Wen, set directly before today's ficlet (under the cut; this wound up a bit long). Thank you for the prompt <3!!

12. your OC overheard while drunk

A conversation overheard outside Herald’s Rest on a clear summer evening:

“Mmmm fine, lemme go.”

“Maker, you’re—Inquisitor, please. Allow me to—”

“Cullen, stobbit. I can walk up the stairs! It was only a lilllll bit of alcall Bull said it was fine. Bull wouldn lie!”

A thud, and then a soft cry of pain. 

“Are you alright? Here—oh, no; don’t cry. Let me see—you’re bleeding a little bit. Will you let me help you up the stairs now? I’ve a healer’s kit in my office.”

A sniffle. 

“No.”

A sigh. 

“Maybe.”

A pause.

“Can you carry me?”

The scrape of boots on stone, and then:

“Alright, come here, love. There we go. Maker, your breath; what in Thedas were you drinking? It smells like—”

“Shhh, zzzzhhhhhhhh. Don’t say it. Don’t wanna—you’re too pretty.”

Boots on stone, and an uncomfortable cough. 

“Ah. Thank you?”

“Too pretty to be sick on. Can’t do it.”

“Ah. I see. Are you…?”

“No, ‘m fine. Fine. Are you carryin me? Why?” 

“Maker, don’t—!” 

Rapid shuffling, and then the soft sound of bare feet hitting stone. 

“I cin walk!” 

“Come back, don’t—Maker protect and preserve me, I am going to kill that man!” 

Another, heavier sigh, and then rapid footsteps up the stairs and away.

15. a letter to your OC from a companion they haven’t seen in a while

(I know it’s a copout to write Zev for this one again but consider: I love him)

A letter found in an abandoned Crow safehouse, trampled and bloodstained and trapped under the dead body of an assassin. It is sealed, unsent, and reads:

My dearest Warden, 

The Wounded Coast is lovely this time of year. I do think you would enjoy it; Kirkwall has a greater than average number of people who need killing, and I do think you would enjoy yourself immensely. 

Do not trouble yourself if you have heard of my run-in with the Crows here; I was able to fight them off with a little assistance. Did you know that our Isabela has famous company these days? Indeed,  she is traveling with Kirkwall’s Champion, who fought off the Qunari invasion some three years past. She is just your type, I do think; but alas, it would seem she is otherwise occupied at the moment—or so Isabela tells me. Quite the messy little city they have there; I will have much to tell you about all of it when I see you next. 

I do hope these letters are reaching you, mi vida. I know what I said before, but I swear that I will be with you soon. I have discovered the source of information that led them to me here, and I must cut it off before I walk away. It would be an understatement to say that I have, as you Fereldens say, struck the bee’s nest with my excursions. Apparently, the Crows continue to dislike my absence from their torture chambers, if you can believe it. Some simply do not understand a declined invitation, it would seem. 

I swear to you, on my word, on my skill as a lover, that I am coming back as soon as I have completed this task. It has been far too long; you know that I would not stay away from you all these months without a powerful reason. 

I have plans, you see. I have a ship chosen for the return journey; the captain has reasons to return directly to Amaranthine. I will track you down in your keep. We will ride to the remote place of your choice and stay there for at least a week, with only the two of us and all of the time we might want. You can tell me that I am an idiot and beat me soundly  in combat (I have gained new skills to show you, of course, but I always look forward to the part where you get me on my back), and then we can make love under the stars. If you will allow me, I will tell you about every one of your beautiful characteristics and why I adore each of them so. 

 It is my goal to reach you before this letter; ideally, you will be reading this with me at your side, plying you with kisses and fine wine. Wait for me only a little longer, mi vida, jewel of my heart. You are always with me in my thoughts.

Aisling and Trifles Minutiae: She's very anxious about him, she doesn't like people showing up and making her question, what if she get something wrong? It will look like Josephine didn't train her well and that's not something she's risking, by all means. She'll ask for more history books to Josie, beg Radha to explain to her what she read (Radha was always more keen on history than her, she's definitely for STEM or anything practical, and finds it difficult to remember genealogies), pester Cullen on whatever trivia he could remember on king Calenhad (and he could remember quite a lot, they'll spend a nice evening with him rambling over this and that and how cool the Rebel Queen was and her taking notes)(I picture Cullen as secretly a history nerd. More for military history, but a nerd nevertheless.). She in the end got all questions right, but still with THE PRESSURE and looking constantly left and right in rooms to look for him and run the opposite direction. x°D

Raina and the Arishok: Utter respect. She struggles with authority but she can see where his authority comes from and respect it. A lot of things he says make sense to her and she agreed with. Invading the city and hurting civilians was not something she condoned, of course, but he made some points that to her made MUCH MORE sense than whatever the Viscount or Elthina ever said. By the end of Act 2 she was not in a good place of mind (she felt the invasion as a personal failure, all her effort served to nothing. Add the fact that her love life was a shit, she fucked up with Merrill, the thing with Isabela should have been casual but for her really wasn't, Anders confessed and she had to turn him down. Bethany never wrote back from the Circle, her relationship with mother was strained, Garrett was still digesting Fenris dumping her and was colder in general)… If Isabela wouldn't have come back and wouldn't have been threatened, she would have just let the Arishok do his thing and conquer the city, he had strong points, for her, about corruption and how nobles couldn't do a decent job. She didn't care anymore in that moment, she just saw her and her friends horribly outnumbered and… Well. Isabela returned.

And!! About Arianwen...

Aisling and Wen do have some things in common. Aisling would be DELIGHTED to meet and greet all her animals, will coo at each and every one of them (Princess will require some effort, but she'll make it) and for sure will introduce her to Little Brother, Ugo the bog unicorn she helped Dorian resurrect, and all the horses in the stables. And as much as she can get quite chatty when prodded, Aisling has no problems in just vibing with a person and being silent, each doing their own things in close proximity. I don't know how Wen will take Aisling trying to mother her, tho. She'll check if Arianwen eats enough. Will bring her food if she doesn't. She also may try out of curiosity to prod her to talk about feelings with very pin-pointed questions and assumptions. "I saw you with Zevran and with your animal friends, you're very sweet, you know it? Are the knives your defense mechanism because you're afraid to be let down? That's ok, I'm scared of being left alone too, you can tell me." I have the slight feeling it could be too much for Wen and too soon, she'd need more time. She'll understand a knife to the throat and won't repeat the experiment, won't bother her until Wen will signal that she can approach again.

Raina will be much smoother, at least at first. I agree that beside the fact that the world isn't really ready for them to team up, it'd be a love or hate situation, with no middle ground. As for Raina, she's very chill with people until she gets crossed. She'll respect her being silent and won't prod at her too much, she can do the talking for both. She'll let her pet her dog (Beowoof "As the epic hero, do you know the story?") and come to play and pet him whenever she wants, the door's always open. She'll admire her professionality and ability with the blade, will praise her for it and maybe ask her to teach her to throw knives. If Wen has no problems with blood magic or with Merrill, she'll be very chill about her until provoked.

trespass on my heart is the trespasser sequel of command me to love (my dragon age cullen x blood mage fic)

i meant to write this as soon as i finished cmtl but uhhhhhh i was done posting it around the same time i got into mass effect and all my dragon age stuff has since been very neglected. all i have in this file is a very rough outline:

- aria pregnant? aidan sibling?? - yes/no wedding? its a sweet idea but the time and place seems inappropriate - have it done earlier? or later? - decide if aidan is a mage or no (and do they know yet???) - lara/blackwall resolution - vivi MUST piss off aria figure out how - inquisition????????????????

its also diffiicult to come back to this because aria isnt my canon inquisitor and her story in my canon worldstate is different. i really shouldve written this when i was hyperfocusing on her because now that im not i like have no idea what to do with her mjfgjfdhg she deserves better

For Cullen, the colour red, fire (first the destructive kind and later the soft warm hearth kind). Seeing any child inevitably brings Aidan to mind, which of course makes him think of Aidan's mother too. Games and puzzles. For Aria, the colour gold. Board games/chess. Books. Mabaris. Sofas and soft blankets.

45. Can they fall asleep without the other?

it's actually a thing in the fic I wrote for them. Aria barely gets any sleep. Same with Cullen, just wasn't his pov.

21. Who would get into a fight to defend the other’s honor? Who tends to the other’s wounds?

they both would. riyaad because he's a drama queen and would do it for any reason really (presumably he'd feel much stronger about it if fenris was being hugely disrespected), fenris if he feels strongly enough about it. they both try to tend to the other's wounds but either does a bad job or makes it worse (a combination of lack of skill/knowledge but also PANIC). anders steps in to help. if not him, then garrett.

11. Do either try to hide their emotions if upset? Can the other still tell? (Zev/Wen)

Ohhh yeah, both of them haha. I think Zevran does it mostly out of habit, because he's spent most of his life nudging people away from asking actual questions about him. So when he's upset he jokes and deflects and Arianwen sees right through it. She doesn't always call him on it--Wen is a big believer in letting people have their privacy--but she always lets him know she knows he's upset, or hurting, and she'll be around when he's ready.

On Wen's end, she is not very expressive in general, so people tend to find her hard to read. The only exception is when she's mad...anyone can tell, she's not subtle about it (she finds a target and starts throwing knives, or she's smiling and then everyone steers clear). Zev realized early on that her body language is more decipherable than her facial expressions, so that's how he knows when she's upset. It's really more the exhaustion, grief, or fear that Zev had to learn how to read, because she will just check out if it gets to be too much. He found that touch (sitting beside her and leaning in) or telling stories but not expecting her to respond is the best way to help.

45. Can they fall asleep without the other? (Emma/Cullen)

Emma can, because Cullen is a workaholic and she's usually in bed before him anyway. If he doesn't eventually come to bed (and they have an agreement that no matter how late he works he has to sleep in their bed), she does have nightmares and will wake up in the middle of the night. Cullen has a much harder time sleeping without her. Mia needed him in Ferelden right before he and Emma had their second kid, so she couldn't come with him. He was miserable for the whole month he was gone because he kept looking for her in the bed, and when he got home he slept for eighteen hours straight.
