Well, at least Madara is still missing. Hokuto… came home as starter. Again 🤣 I was gonna reroll between Trickstar and Double Face gachas to see which of my duo will come home first, and he answered immediately. And then reappeared via current gacha 4*, while I only have a random 3* of Madara's. Which brings us to my current home screen:

A fair play whodunit, with no information available to the "detectives" that wasn't also known to us, the reader/player; I really appreciate that, and it's just par for the course when it comes to Yato, dontcha think? Everyone's gotta have a fair chance, or it won't be fun~

By day 6, my focus was no longer on pinning Yato down, but on calling out the entire timeline of events. It was that engrossing! Easily the best omj event I've partaken in so far. And I'm not just sayin' that 'cause I got a perfect score, heh. After all,

He's here!! My boy Otake is finally here!!! After several months of maining him in the card game he finally comes home in RPG! Ahahahahah totally worth all those jade and amulets!

Also! Also!! This means I can finally reunite the Sealanders in my courtyard! The family is back together!

Please never mind that the SRs are only lv 20, up until recently I've been focusing on a single main team, and in fact have just been focusing on Suzuka-neesan, hence her being still stuck in G5.

(Oh, also don't mind the misplaced Manba. I had no idea what icon to use and he was right there in my screenshots folder, so he got conscripted.)

Nope, I didn't forget him either. I generally do better playing mid with Ootengu than jungling with Onija, but I tried my best anyhow. And yes, this is with the evo token thing the game gave us, I do not have anywhere near enough proficiency to unlock this the normal way.

Hey, Onmyoji? I have questions.

I've only slept for 4½ hours last night, so here comes the spoilery rambling under the cut.

tl;dr Onikiri is a composite of at least three legendary real-life swords at once.

So. Lemme get this straight. Onikiri:

Has/is/is associated with/it's complicated with the total of four swords on his sprite, named Onikiri, Higekiri, Tomokiri, and Shishi-no-ko (Higekiri, all of 'em)

Severed Ibaraki Doji's arm at the Rashoumon gate (also Higekiri, but wielder/owner was Watanabe no Tsuna)

Was used by Minamoto no Yorimitsu (Higekiri? But also Dojigiri)

Decapitated Shuten Doji (Dojigiri)

Has a crescent moon pattern (Mikazuki)

*cough*Toriumi Kousuke*cough* (Mikazuki)

Exactly how many swords at once is he?? Next thing you know, they're gonna say Yorimitsu also used him to slay a giant spider. Or maybe a nue bothering the emperor, while we're at it. Anyone wanna go for the mountain witch? Nah, that's Ootengu's job.

(Also, at the end of that Uminari battle? Blade broken and/or drowned, sunk into the sea? A sadly recurring theme, that. How many other lenegdary swords fell to that fate…)

Amusing tidbit: Onikiri/Higekiri/I'm not writing all those names again is, according to legend, forged by Sanjou Munechika, same as Mikazuki. However, the factual consensus seems to agree the blade is more likely forged by Yasutsuna, same as Dojigiri. That said, the signature on the blade itself was long altered from Yasutsuna to Kunitsuna, same as Onimaru, which, no, is not the same as Onikiri. Confused yet?

Well, in the sense of Onmyoji's Onikiri, none of this matters in the end, I suppose. The game is full of anachronism and messy compositing for the sake of Fun™, and that's totally valid~

Is there something about the ongoing events in Onmyoji that does this, or…?

This is the third time in the past couple days that Ootengu's suddenly gained affection during Exploration, but the whys and wherefores remain a mystery to me.

Why always Ootengu? What about Tamamo and Suzuka, also in the same squad all three times it triggered? Why always on Yumekui boss? But also, why not after every Yumekui boss?

No, seriously. Can anyone enlighten me about this mysterious mechanic? Please??

I've been running on minimal sleep lately, and my impulse control is shot to pieces, so… I downloaded Onmyōji. At like one a.m. last night. Which obviously does not help with the sleep cycle, but…

Will I manage to stick around? Who knows, historically I've not been able to juggle too many games at once and usually drop one sooner or later, but for now, I'm intrigued.

But also… y'know how the game gives ya a free ten-pull near the beginning to help you get started? And you're guaranteed at least one SSR? Well, look who decided to be my first:

Me a few months ago: If I were Seimei, I wouldn't return Onikiri's shards to the Minamoto clan. I'd gather 'em all, run over to Munechika's workshop at Sanjou street, ask him to reforge a very important sword, then keep him for myself. RIP to Seimei but I'm different~
