Your mouth was watering at the delicacy sitting right in front of you. With all the perfect curve and its warmest you couldn't wait to take a bite out of it. “I have missed you so much, my precious.” You grab the chocolate muffin, but before you could take a bite of the thing you considered as “the most important thing in the world”, someone opened your friend’s Kayla door and sneaked out of it.
It’s her Alpha of the week: blond hair, blue eyes, muscles built like mountains. He had a sheet wrapped around his waist, blocking your view of his groin, which you were thankful for because you didn’t want to see a dick first thing in the morning, especially not during your cheat day. The massive Alpha turned around and almost jumped in place when he saw you. “Jesus f-ing christ, I didn’t know she had a roommate.”
You shrugged, pulling at the paper around the muffin. “Surprise I guess. Do you want something? Water? Breakfast? The kitchen is all yours.” You said before taking a bite of your muffin, closing your eyes as you finally tasted chocolate for the first time in months.
You heard shuffling, thinking the guy was heading toward the kitchen, but when you started to smell your best friend's scent closer and closer and the sound of a chair moving, you opened your eyes to see that he had instead decided to sit right next to you, his hand pulling the sheet even more closer.
“You don’t seem surprised to see me.” He started. “Like you are used to it.” He observed. A sense of pity washed over you as you saw his confused face. You looked at him and sent him a small smile and the guy most likely understood you because his face fell.
He slid a hand in his blond hair, pulling a few strands away from his hair. “She does that a lot, doesn’t she?”
“Yes, but don’t you fucking dare shame her. She’s having fun and that’s all it matters.” You pointed at him aggressively.
He lift both of his hands in surrender. “I wasn’t shaming, I just thought we would get to something serious. I wanted her to be my omega…” He looked down at his lap and played with the blue sheets.
You almost whined. He looked like a kicked puppy. He really did like Kayla, but you can’t force them both to be with each other if it’s not what Kayla wants. You placed a hand on his shoulder, and squeezed. “I know I barely know you…”
“Yeah, you met me ten minutes ago.”
You smiled. “But, you seem like a respectful Alpha and you will make an Omega happy one day.”
He sent you a small smile. “Thanks, but what about you? I don’t see a mark on your neck. You don’t have an Alpha?”
You almost wanted to laugh. The idea of having an Alpha was never something that crossed your mind. You loved your independence too much to start relying on someone and, anyway you wanted to focus on something more important to you. “No, I don’t want an Alpha”
“So you would like a Beta more?”
You shrugged. “Maybe, but what I’m saying is I want to focus on me instead of finding someone. I want to focus on my career, you know.”
The guy looked at you with his blue eyes.. “Which is?”
You smiled and took a bite of the muffin. “Soccer.”
Seething.
You were seething by what you were learning right now. Every day, for years on end, you’ve been practicing your favorite sport to get a chance to get where you are right now only for your dream to get snatched right under your nose. All for something you have no control over.
“What do you mean I can’t join the team? This college literally accepted me because I was good at soccer.” Something inside of you was snapping. You wanted to rip this man’s eye out. Your Omega was angry and so were you.
“Things have changed. The board changed things. We now don't have an omega soccer team anymore.” Said the coach. He was an old Alpha, who looked like he had never kicked a ball in his life.
“Thats fucking bullshit.” The coach growled and you almost whimpered. The omega in you wanting to submit, but you wouldn’t let yourself do. You wouldn’t let that Alpha stop you from doing something you loved, something you had for, for years.
“Watch it, omega.” The man growled. “ It is a good decision. You all can’t stop yourself from doing commands, what would happen if an alpha commanded you on the field. You would be rendered useless.” You knew this college was known to have conservative ideas, but their soccer team was one of the best along with another school in the region. You had thought they would’ve let go of those sexist thoughts when they accepted you for your soccer abilities.
“We can still fight that urge to obey.”
The man slapped his hand on his desk. “Well I have yet to be convinced of this. This discussion is useless. You won't be part of the team and that is final.”
You growled. “I’ll fucking show you.”

Waiting On One Look
Characters/Pairings: Alpha!Ari Levinson x Curvy!Female!Reader Word Count: 300
Content/Warnings: omegaverse, mention of smut, apocalyptic setting
Additional Notes: One of four short alpha drabbles triggered by an ask from @biteofcherry for a very horny Monday and Alpha April.
“It’s getting worse around here, Omega.”
The giant alpha with his golden skin, flowing brown hair, and piercing blue eyes looks directly into your eyes as the two of you scavenge down the aisle of the abandoned grocery store.
“You’re not weak for accepting protection,” he adds.
“How do I know I can trust you?”
“We’ve come across each other, what, four times now? Five?”
You nod but bite on the inside of your cheek, regarding him.
“Even if you can’t trust me, together has to be better than alone, doesn’t it?”
Your heart aches. You already lost everyone you know.
You know you’re drawn to him, but if you get close to him, you could end up losing him, too.
But you could end up losing yourself in him.
But you’ve been so lonely.
After your continued hesitance, he sighs, and his shoulders drop. “Maybe we’ll bump into each other again in a few weeks.”
He turns away, but you rush the few steps forward to catch his wrist.
When he turns back, he pushes you back up against the shelves. “I wanted you to say yes, ‘mega, been thinking about you every night since I last saw you.”
You whine and pull at the collar of his unbuttoned blue shirt.
He kisses you soundly, but then breaks it off and presses his forehead to yours, laughing. “Not here, ‘mega. We’ve stayed alive this long because we’ve both kept our heads, can’t lose them now, not when we’re about to get a little happiness in this apocalypse.”
So the two of you finish strategically collecting supplies, you climb into his truck, and the second the door is locked when you get to his hideout, you tear each others clothes off and he takes you on the floor twice before you eventually make it to his bed.

You wake up covered in sweat, crying from your nightmares. Your entire body ached, especially where you had scars. It took you a minute to orient yourself. The skylight was incredibly helpful as an instant reminder that you were no longer in your cell at Dr. Kemp's mercy.
The comfortable bed and blankets were another reminder. Natasha had graciously added to your education on Omega instincts and needs. Nesting had originally been described to you as just bundling your bedding. Nat had explained it was a manifestation of an Omega's need for a safe, comfy place. Most often to sleep, but sometimes just for relaxing. It's not uncommon for an Omega to have little nests built in other places of their homes. For now, though, you were just grateful to indulge in the soft fabric, comfy mattress, and a multitude of pillows.
You check the digital clock and see that it's a little after 5 in the morning. Part of you wonders if that was the default time you'd get woken up in your cell and so you're just automatically waking up out of habit. Yes, the nightmares were probably a factor, but you can't remember a time you didn't have them. Maybe you should ask Nat about getting yourself a teddy bear you can squeeze to help you calm down instead of the pillow you currently had in a death grip.
She had promised to come by at 10 today to follow up with you. That gave you a whopping 5 hours to get more sleep. If only you could. You were wide awake and sleep felt like a terrifying concept, as if you would wake up back in your cell.
Resigning yourself to wakefulness you get out of bed and look around. You've got options for what to do and you're not sure what to do with yourself until the pressure in your bladder gets your attention. After you relieve yourself you decide to shower first and try out some of the sweet, floral smelling products to find ones you liked. You probably spent too much time in the shower but you were so grateful for the hot water and feel soothed by the scented shampoos and washes. For the first time in forever a shower felt genuinely relaxing and rejuvenating.
Walking out of the bathroom, wrapped in one of the towels, you look through the closet. Nat had promised that none of these clothes were used, they were all recently bought, just for you. Yes, they were men's clothes, but that's because they didn't have women's clothing your size. You assured her it was something you were used to. You put on a pair of boxers followed by sweatpants and a t-shirt, taking a kind of comfort in the fit of the pant legs around your ankles, breathing easier with so much of yourself covered. There's also a pair of slipper socks that, when you put them on, make you giddy with how warm and comfortable they feel. Honestly, you wonder if you'll ever feel comfortable being barefoot, or in a dress ever again. Those hospital gowns have likely soured your clothing opinions forever.
Recalling your tour with Natasha from last night, you remember you're also allowed to make yourself some breakfast with the ample food supply in the kitchen. It's been quite some time since you've cooked but you want a meal that's actually warm and tasty. Still, it has been a while so you opt to start simple with toast and eggs. You end up with scrambled eggs but that just means you can add shredded cheese before adding it to the toast. You took a bite and nearly ended up in tears from the relief, the memories, the confirmation that you were no longer in your cell.
All of your emotions kicking in from the conflicting brain chemistry have you running back to your nest to cry yourself out.
By the time Nat knocks on your door you've calmed down. You welcome her in and the two of you make small talk. You tell her about everything going on and she nods in understanding.
"This is definitely something we've seen before," she nods. "When you're ready for it, we'll introduce you to some of the others who have had similar experiences."
"So there are others?" you ask. "Ari wasn't just bullshitting about that?"
"Unfortunately, yes, there are others. We're a bit of a dying species, doing what we need to survive. But while a bunch of us work for the government in exchange for safety, resources and a chance at creating future generations for others of our kind, some outliers, like Kemp and Hansen, have gone to more extreme measures."
"So Ari is trying to do good work and I just...I wasn't supposed to...I'm..."
Nat hugs you. "You're welcome here. We will find a place for you here."

Photo #2 makes me think of the omega from the Baker AU taking a selfie to ask Steve if it looked okay for her courting date. And then she accidentally sends it to one of the alphas, if not the entire group chat.
You wait, and then you wait again. When he doesn’t immediately answer your text with a picture of the dress you wanted to wear for your first courting date with Ari & Curtis, you feel confused.
Confusion is quickly replaced with mortification.
It hits you when you realize that your text was sent not to Steve solely, but the group chat with your alphas that also contained yourselves. The group chat that now was being flooded with comments, messages back and forth as your alphas swooned over the red velour dress that you chose.
You scrambled from the bed and skittered to the living room, eyes wide and your mouth open to tell Steve about your blunder. The two of you were equally dealing with a blunder that left you both feeling exhilarated by the messages being flooded to you.
“I sent the text to the group chat, and now the alphas are saying really intense yet nice things and-” you inhaled and exhaled, pacing back and forth in front of Steve.
“-I sent a picture of myself with dirty hands and cheeks from working with charcoal and I thought I sent it to you but…” Steve blushed heavily, nervously puckering his lips and digging his nails into his hand.
“But…?” You crept closer to him, looking over the phone to see the picture sent to Bucky, solely to Bucky, and Bucky’s replies being fuelled by eroticism.
“Looks like dirty boy needs a sponge bath—shut up! He did not—!” You came to sit by Steve, exchanging your phone with his to read each others messages.
“Bucky is a bit of a playboy, he’s so dirty.” Steve grinned, small, and bit down on his bottom lip. “Ari & Curtis are on their way to pick you up.”
“Bucky wants you to draw him like a French girl.” You giggled and rolled your eyes, enjoying the little chaos Bucky added.
“Hal thinks you look beautiful.” Steve slipped your phone back into your lap, and then drew his fingers across your shoulder. “You do look beautiful, baby.”
“Thank you, Stevie.” You leaned into each other, you kissing his cheek as he slipped an arm around your waist. “You’re gonna be okay here? By yourself?”
“Yeah,” he rubbed the back of his neck, blushing again, “Hal & Buck said they might come over…later…”
“Good,” you kissed his cheek again, and then stood, “I guess I better meet them downstairs.”
“Have fun, be safe, and use the pepper spray I put in your purse if you have to.”

Saved by an Alpha
✨Pairing: Alpha!Ari Levinson x Omega!OC (Secret Agent A/B/O AU)
✨Summary: If you look up the definition of a workaholic, you will find Ari Levinson's picture right next to it. Ari is on a mission to save all the omegas and alphas kidnapped by the Red Room. An organization that takes young alphas to train them into the perfect soldiers and young omegas to be drilled into the epitome of what their biology has deemed them to be. Ari has saved thousands over the years, but he still doesn't consider that enough. Some say he's running from a dark past; others say he has a savior complex.
Eloise can't remember a life outside the complex known to its residents as the 'care center.' She's always been in these concrete walls, servicing alphas when called upon, taking heavy heat suppressants, and acting as a caretaker for the new little girls. Her life may not be entirely happy, but it's all she's ever known. Plus, she cares deeply for each of the girls who come into her care, no matter the length of time. They give her glimpses of sunshine in her dark world. Soon her world will be turned upside down when a stranger that smells like tobacco and the ocean comes to 'save' them.
✨Warnings: A/B/O dynamics, feral behavior, violence, injury, crying, self-harm in the form of battling a door, self-loathing, mentions of child trafficking, death of a side character, and drugs
✨W/C: 6.9k
✨A/N: Hey, guys! So yeah…it’s been a minute, life has been crazy, and this chapter has literally been rewritten four times. But I hope you all enjoy it! Let me know if I missed any warning tags or if you want more!

Chapter Two: Self-Control
When Sammy injects Eloise with the tranquilizers, Ari goes feral. He snaps and growls at the poor beta man, scaring all the children. The young girls all cry and shriek in fear, trying to further hide behind the cot barrier Eloise helped them make. The eldest three hold their place in the front, May puts Julia behind her, who screams for Eloise.
Ari ignores the crying girls. He lifts Eloise and holds her close to his chest, using his big arms to shield her from anyone who dares to get near them. Ari pushes the hair back from her face and gently prods near her eyes, trying to get her to open them again. As he focuses on the omega in his arms, he completely forgets about the open wound on his leg, which is currently bleeding through his tactical gear.
Sammy darts his eyes between the screaming children and the suddenly feral alpha in front of him. He’s never seen Ari like this before. Ari’s eyes are dilated to the point that his iris nearly swallows the whites. His gaze is stormy and focused on the woman he’s holding. Confused whines and grunts leave Ari’s lips as he tries to get Eloise to wake back up. Like that of a confused wild animal. Sammy has never seen an alpha snap into a feral state so quickly; if an alpha goes feral, it’s usually from a slow descent to madness or a severely traumatizing experience. Nothing like what’s happening right now. He tries to wrack his brain for a possible explanation but soon realizes the lack of time to do so. Ari turns to leave with the girl in his arms, and Sammy jumps in front of the door to stop him.
Ari snarls, and the girls scream again. Sammy quickly lifts his hands, palms up and out, to try and show he’s not a threat to him. He speaks softly and slowly, knowing that Ari is closer to a beast than a man. Sammy just hopes the conscious part of him is still lingering in the background.
“Ari, listen to me. You’re not yourself right now. You can’t go running off with her; the building is in code red and unsafe. You’re bleeding and need medical attention, and all these girls need to get to the jets, her included.” Sammy nods to the unconscious omega in his arms, which Ari holds slightly tighter in response.
“Move. I will protect her.” Ari steps closer, but Sammy stays firm in his stance. He knows letting them go will risk the omega he’s holding. If Ari gets alone with her and bonds with her, Sammy knows Ari will hate himself for the rest of his life.
“No. Ari, you’re hurt, and we have a mission to complete. I’m not moving till you come back to your senses.”
As Sammy stands there resolutely, he spots the growing aggression in the face of the alpha. A vein popped on his neck, and his eyes narrowed at him. Sammy cringes, knowing whatever is about to happen next won’t be pretty. He keeps his hands up but remembers the taser resting on a holster on his thigh.
Ari glares darkly at the beta as he weighs his options. At first, the beta seemed like no threat, given his size and stature. Now, he stands in his way from taking his precious new omega to safety, something he can’t allow. She needs to be safe so she can become properly his. She is his precious girl that he found. Not the betas. He has half a mind to mark her now just to show the other man just that. But he knows time is short and danger’s approaching the building.
“Well? Are we going to finish our mission?” Sammy asks calmly, his eyes wary as he glances at the children who watch them both carefully.
In that brief moment, Ari makes his move. “Fuck the mission!” He barks, with one arm, he keeps Eloise close, and with the other, he elbows Sammy hard into the doorway. The beta man grunts as his head connects with the metal frame. He slumps to the floor as Ari runs off with Eloise.
Sammy takes a couple steadying breaths as his vision swims for a moment. He checks the side of his head where it is connected with the metal and finds his fingers covered in crimson. Sammy curses and wipes his hand clean. He braces himself and carefully stands, only to hear a crunch. Looking under his boot, he spots the remnants of his comm, the only way he could have given his teammates a warning that Ari had turned feral and his heading right for them.
Sammy sighs deeply; he hopes they can recognize the crazed look in Ari’s eye when he reaches them, and they’ll be able to detain him. Maybe, if he works fast enough with the girls, he’ll be able to get there in time to help.
“Alright, kids, we have to go. I promise none of you are going to get hurt. My friend there was just, uh…grumpy…yeah, grumpy. Your caretaker will be fine. You can trust me.” Sammy offers them a tentative smile, hoping they’ll listen to his directions.
The eldest girls look between themselves warily while the others watch them, waiting to follow in their lead.
“What do we do, Nora?” Kairi whispers.
“We listen to him. Eloise said we have to remember?” Nora looks back at the other girls, “we gotta remember what Eloise told us. We’ll be okay.” She gives them her best smile while May picks up Julia again. They follow Sammy out of the building and into the quinjet waiting for them.
“Is that all of them?” An agent asks Sammy as he gets the 13 girls settled into seats and strapped down with help from Max.
“I think so. Have you seen Ari?” Sammy looks around, not seeing him or the omega anywhere. All he spots are children, their omegas, and other agents checking on them. He had a feeling Ari wouldn’t choose this location anyhow. It’s too crowded.
“No, wasn’t he with you? Where is the children’s omega? Also, what happened to your head?” Max frowns as he finishes strapping in the little three-year-old.
“He was with me, but he went feral. We have to find him, Max, before he hurts someone. He took the girl's omega somewhere.” Sammy quietly mutters to him. Not wanting to send the entire jet into a panic if they hear an unmated alpha has gone feral while so many unmated omegas are near.
“What? Why didn’t you com that in?” Max demands as they both begin quickly walking to the hatch of the jet.
“I couldn’t! He knocked it out of my ear when he slammed my head into a door to get me out of the way, then I stepped on it like an idiot. I had to focus on getting the girls out. Max, he’s completely dangerous right now. He won’t let anything or anyone get between him and the girl.”
“You don’t think he’s going to try and bond her do you?” Max murmurs with wide eyes.
“I don’t know.” Sammy solemnly shakes his head, “which is why we have to hurry; com this to the rest of the team.” As they pick up the pace, they hear the jets beginning to hum. “Shit!”
The jet starts to lift off, and the back hatch closes. “Put the jet back down! Open the hatch!” Max commands a nearby agent. The agent radios the request to the pilot and shakes his head. “Sorry, sir, the avengers are here. It’ll be too dangerous for us to land.”
“Fuck!” Sammy huffs, running his hands through his hair, “radio the others, now. We have to know what plane he’s on!”
“Right.” Max presses his com, “Jake, Rachel, have either of you seen Ari?”
“No, I’m on the other jet with the girls. Wasn’t he with Sammy?” Jake comms back.
“I just saw him a few minutes ago. He’s on our team’s plane. He had an unconscious omega in his arms, which was weird, but I figured the other jets were full.” Rachel hums as she answers Jake. She sets their team's jet to autopilot back to a shield safehouse, where they take the women and children.
“We found him.” Max looks to Sammy, who grabs the comm out of Max’s ear.
He puts it in his ear and distances himself from the other agent. “Rachel, it's Sammy. Listen, Ari’s gone feral-” he says as quietly as he can.
“What?!” Rachel and Jake demand. Sam hisses for them both to be quiet. “When did that happen?” Rachel questions, already heading back to the bunkers where Ari took the girl.
“Twenty minutes ago, I couldn’t say anything because my com broke. Listen, you must separate him from that omega before he does something both of them will regret.” Sammy urges, beginning to pace, thinking of everything that could have happened.
“Already on it.” Rachel assures, “I’ll update you when the situation is taken care of.”
“Be careful, Rach. Feral alphas are dangerous. He may not recognize you. Hell, even if he does, he still might hurt you.” Sammy warns.
“I know. Don’t worry, I got this.” Her line goes silent, and Sammy lets out a breath.
“Do you think she’ll be able to do it, Sam?” Jake asks.
“I have no idea.” Sammy’s mouth sets in a grim line, hoping it’s not too late.
In the sleeping quarters, Ari has her lying on the bed he tried claiming for himself the night before. Her little stature fits perfectly into the small bunk; he crouches next to her watching her rest. His eyes drink her in now that he has her alone. They follow the curve of her face seeing a little button nose and full lips. His brows furrow as he reaches out and uses a finger to trace along one of her cheeks, finding them far too thin for his liking. He pictures them fuller and filled with color, her fuller, full of him. His eyes land on her flat stomach, and a growl slowly builds from his chest.
He goes to reach out for her again, this time aiming for her shirt, when he’s interrupted by frantic knocking. A snarl rips through his throat, and he jumps up, shielding his omega’s body with his own.
The knocking pauses, then a female voice calls out, “Ari, it’s Rachel. Open the door and let the girl go. You’re in a feral state, but I know you can pull yourself out of this!”
Ari marches up to the door but doesn’t open it, his mind barely registering that it’s his teammate outside, but what he does know is that she’s armed. He can smell the gunpowder from the weapon she’s holding.
“Leave us!”
The alpha command bellows strongly from him, so powerful that it causes the omega to whimper and whine out in her sleep. Ari holds back from rushing back to her side to soothe her, knowing that taking care of the immediate threat is more important.
Rachel stiffens but doesn’t move. Alpha commands have no effect on betas. She’s surprised that Ari even tried doing so. She narrows her eyes and sighs. She didn’t want to have to say this. The topic is so forbidden in the team, but she can’t think of any other way to bring him out of this state.
“Ari, do you think Sarah would want you to move on this way?” Rachel demands, keeping her voice harsh and tone firm to show he had no effect on her with his command. “Sarah always wished for your happiness, but not like this. Not by stealing some poor girl who has no idea who you even are!”
The mention of Sarah causes a pause in Ari, Sarah…the name brings back the image of his dead omega. Her dark-haired curls, bright brown eyes, and beautiful smile. Flashes and images of the life he once lived with her force their way through the feral haze clouding his judgment. Meeting her for the first time after she was rescued from their first-ever red room operation, getting to know her after her recovery, gaining the courage to ask her out, bonding, marrying, her death…
Ari nearly stumbles to the floor as his consciousness comes rushing back. His inner alpha snaps and growls at him as he puts the fucker back in its chains, using his Sarah as the anchor. He looks back at Eloise with wide eyes, disgust and shame flooding him.
He’s never lost control like that, not even when he and Sarah bonded. He brings his fingers up, brushing against the faded scar on his neck. What was he about to do to that woman? He knows the danger of letting his alpha genes take over his mind. He saw it happen all too often with his father and the various omegas the man took throughout Ari’s life.
People get hurt when an alpha allows his genes or instinct to take over. Anyone who is in the way of what a feral alpha desires often end up hospitalized or, worse, dead. Tranquilizers can even be considered useless to an alpha his size when feral. He’s shocked Sammy even tried standing in his way. He could have killed him.
Ari goes to take a deep breath to calm himself but quickly realizes his mistake as her honeyed scent overpowers him again.
“Fuck.” Ari hisses. He scrambles to the hand scanner and quickly unlocks the door.
As soon as it flies open, Rachel has her gun pointed straight at his head. “Don’t come closer. I will not hesitate to put you on the ground. Let me pass, Ari.”
Ari puts his shaking hands in the air, his breaths leaving him in heavy bursts. His alpha snarls and claws at his mind. Defend Omega! Threat! Eliminate the threat!
“It’s me, Rach. You brought me back for now.” Ari winces, and his teeth gnash at her.
Rachel’s eyes widen, and she keeps her gun up. She can see his struggle, but she can’t chance to give him sympathy when he could kill her at this moment. “Get away from the omega Ari, before someone gets hurt.”
“I plan on it. Rachel, I need you to lock me in our cell bay. I can’t trust myself not to go feral again while we’re stuck on the plane with her.” Ari demands those cells can keep alphas twice his size locked away without a problem, but they can’t be locked from the inside.
“Done.” Keeping the gun pointed at him, they walk to the holding cells in the back of the jet. Once Ari is inside the small space, Rachel locks the door and opens the small window that allows them to talk. Only then does she relax her stance and holster her gun.
“Ari, what happened in there?” Rachel asks, seeing him slump onto the chair. Ari holds his head in his hands and rubs the mark on his neck.
“I’m not sure.” He admits. “All I remember is getting to our last room of kids, and when I opened the door, that omega stabbed me-”
“Stabbed you?!” Rachel’s eyes widen, and she peers inside more, finally seeing the blood running down his injured leg. “Shit, Ari! I’ll get you medical supplies.”
“Thanks,” Ari mutters, not thinking he really deserves them, but also knows he’s no use to the team if he loses a leg from infection. “Anyway, I could already feel my control slipping when she got too close, then when Sammy tranqued her, I just lost it.” Ari shakes his head, all of it sounding nonsensical.
“Was anyone hurt?” Rachel passes him a small trauma kit through the hole, which he grabs.
“Sammy might be. I tossed him out of my way when he tried to stop me. Did you hear from him? Is he okay?” Ari’s brows furrow in concern when he realizes he has no idea if Sam even made it out before the Avengers showed up.
“I heard from him. He sounded fine, just concerned about you. Are you okay?” Rachel sighs, watching Ari start to tend to his wound.
“I’ll be fine, Rach. Just need some time to myself til we get back. Could you check on her for me? I didn’t…We’re not…” The word gets caught in Ari’s throat and stings far worse than the anti-bacterial spray.
“I’ll check on her. You know Fury is going to have your ass for this, right? You might be suspended from the team or kicked out of the agency.” Rachel frowns. She doesn’t think Ari deserves either of those for what’s happened; it was clearly out of his control.
“I’ll deal with Fury. And Rach…thanks for snapping me out of it.”
“Of course.” Rachel gives him a small smile before walking off to do as asked.
Ari sighs deeply as he finishes bandaging himself up. Despite the wound being closed, he can’t remember the last time he felt so raw and wide open. He has no idea why the girl caused him to react like he did, but he knows he’s staying the hell away from her. He can breathe easier now that he’s in the cell, her scent long gone. With his head clear, he tries to think through everything that happened repeatedly, but it never makes sense. Ari hopes that once they get back to the safe house, he’ll hear Fury’s judgment, and deal with the punishment, then everything can move on. He doesn’t want anything to change. Ari doesn’t need a new omega. He doesn’t need anyone or anything but his team and his job.
If he has those, he’ll be alright.
He doesn’t need her.
Eloise slowly returns to consciousness, her mind hazy. She carefully opens her eyes, trying to adjust to the room’s brightness. She squints and licks her dry lips, her throat lightly aching. Eloise shifts and pauses. She’s not on her cot in her room. What she’s lying on is far too comfortable. Her breathing quickens, and all the events from before she blacked out come rushing back.
Eloise sits up in a rush and immediately regrets it as her head swims. She pauses to place her head in her hands and takes slow, steadying breaths. The feelings are familiar. Whoever was with that alpha must have drugged her, something the Red Room has done to her many times over the years whenever she had to move buildings. Once she catches her bearings, she looks around her unfamiliar surroundings. The walls surrounding her are a beige color. There’s also a hardwood floor like an actual bedroom, not a concrete room. A real bed, something she hadn’t slept on since before she was 5, a time she barely remembers. Under better circumstances, she would have savored lying on the cotton and springs. Still, she’s in unfamiliar territory, the enemy's territory.
Taking her time, Eloise carefully stands. Her legs feel weak, and she wonders how much time has passed since her kidnapping. She spots a pitcher of water with a glass resting nearby but decides not to drink, no matter how thirsty she is. Who knows what drugs or other things could be lacing the water? She’d rather not risk it. Not when she has to figure out where she is, where her children are, and how she will save them.
Worry immediately begins bubbling in her chest when she thinks of her poor girls. Eloise hopes they’re safe and that whatever plans these people have for them are not malicious. Once she finds them, she will run far away from the Red Room and these people. Eloise has no idea how she’ll get the funds and space to care for 13 children, but she’ll figure it out.
Eloise glances around again when she spots two doors and a window. She goes to walk over to the window when she suddenly stops and hisses in pain, feeling a tug at her calf. Looking down, she spots gauze wrapped around her leg.
“What the hell?” She quietly murmurs to herself in fear of someone listening. She has no doubt they are monitoring her despite spotting no cameras around. Eloise reaches down and carefully runs her hand up the gauze. She hisses, feeling four stitches underneath the bandage. She doesn’t remember getting hurt during the kidnapping unless it happened while unconscious.
She huffs a tad in annoyance, that will slow her down, and she doesn’t have time to wait for it to heal. Shaking her head, Eloise sits up and limps to the window. She’ll have to be careful with her leg until it’s time for the big escape. Any damage she does to it during or after, she’ll have to deal with later.
Looking outside, she gasps, seeing she’s at least six stories up in the air. Below her are trees around whatever building she’s in, and in the distance is a lake. Just like in the care center, she’s utterly secluded from civilization, meaning escape just got ten times harder. “Damn it.” She mutters and glances at the window pane, which is also pretty thick. She tries lifting the window to no avail either, so escape out of the window is no option at all.
Eloise hates how leaving is looking bleaker at the moment. Now her only option is to find some vehicle and hope she can learn to use it in whatever time she has before these people find her.
Eloise hobbles over to the other door in the room and finds a small bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink. A pair of clean clothes, a towel, and some toiletries rest next to the shower. She scoffs at them; yeah, right, like she’ll risk being vulnerable and bathing at a time like this. These people are crazy for thinking she would be. She decides to rinse some water over her face and drink from the tap, the cool water soothing her aching throat. Drugging tap water is more challenging unless they want to drug their entire building.
Being in the Red Room didn’t teach her much about the ‘outside’ world. Eloise couldn’t tell you anything about how taxes, politics, or even major cultural norms. Other than the ones that taught her about an omega's place in society, of course, under an alpha. However, by listening to the alphas that guard her and the men she would service, Eloise, learned valuable skills in observing, learning, adapting, and surviving.
After another couple of mouthfuls of water, Eloise sits on the toilet and contemplates her next moves. She glances at the door leading out of her room and sees that it’s made of metal, assuming it’s locked. Maybe if she can catch a guard's attention, she can at least get some information. Ask about her children, where she is, and what they plan to do with her. If they don’t answer, then she can always wait for when they transport her, IF they do. For all Eloise knows, this place is no different from the Red Room, except now she doesn’t get her little lights.
The thought makes Eloise cringe, and she shakes them off. She has to hope that’s not the case. The door doesn’t have a slot, so the guard has to open it to deliver her food unless they plan for her to starve. Food…her stomach growls, reminding her that she still hasn’t eaten. Maybe she should…no better not. They could slip something in the food too. Better to wait to see what these people want with her first.
With her next course of action decided, Eloise gets up and hobbles over to the metal door. She knocks on it a few times, ensuring it’s hard enough for anyone nearby to hear her.
“Hello?! I have some questions! Can I please speak to somebody?! Hello?!”
“Yes, Ms. Briggs?” A man a few inches taller than herself answers the door. He smiles down at her, which reaches his brown eyes. He runs a hand through his thinning brown hair and tugs at the jacket of the black suit he’s wearing. She spots an embroidery with an eagle emblem over the letters S.H.I.E.L.D.
“Who?” Eloise looks at him in confusion. She’s never heard that last name in her entire life.
“Ah, right. Sorry, you still haven’t had your debriefing. What can I help you with, Eloise?”
That only confuses Eloise even more; debriefing? Like, someone is going to take off her clothes? Her eyes widen, and she steps back, ready to defend herself. The man looks at her in surprise and takes a step back, giving her a tentative smile.
“Where am I? What’s going on? Who are you, and where are my kids?” Eloise demands, her fists tightening at her sides.
“My name is Agent Coulson. You’re in an S.H.I.EL.D safe house to recuperate and learn your next steps to becoming a functioning member of society. There are just a few more people ahead of you before Agent Sitwell discusses your case with you.”
“You didn’t answer my question about my kids.” Eloise’s eyes narrow at him. She’s never heard of Shield and has no idea what he means about rejoining society. However, her focus isn’t on those things; it’s her children and ensuring they’re safe.
“The children you were overseeing are no longer your responsibility. They’re being taken care of.” Agent Coulson grabs the door as if to close it.
Eloise quickly holds the door before he can, “what do you mean being taken care of?! Let me see them. I need to make sure they’re okay.”
“I’m sorry, ma’am, but I cannot do that. You no longer have to worry about them. That’s all I can tell you.” Coulson tries to reason with her, but Eloise gets more agitated the more she’s denied.
She tries to pull the door open more, but the Agent is stronger than he looks and keeps the door barely open.
“Let me out! Let me see my children right now! Damn it!” Eloise growls and pulls with all her might, her leg throbbing from her muscles tightening up.
“Someone will be in to see you shortly. Please try and calm yourself before then. I understand you may have gained an emotional attachment, but it is for the better that you don’t see the children again.” Agent Coulson shuts the door, and Eloise hears the click of the lock.
“NO! No damn it!” Bringing her fists back, Eloise pounds on the door with all her might. Tears prick her eyes, and her breathing becomes shallow as his words sink in. They won’t let her see them ever again! “No! No! I don’t accept this! Let me out! Let me see my children!” She sobs as she pounds on the metal, bruising her hands.
She backs up, aiming her shoulder at the door she charges, putting all her strength into it. Eloise cries out in pain as her shoulder and injured leg hit the metal. She falls to the floor cradling her injuries for a moment.
Agent Coulson sighs, hearing the distressed omega on the other side of the door. He will admit they’ve never had one have such a bad reaction to learning that the children in their care are no longer their worry. Most of them celebrate their freedom. The omega bangs on the door again, pleading to be let out and to see the children she watched over. He knows giving her another dose of the tranquilizer wouldn’t be a good idea, but he also doesn’t want her to beat herself to hell while they wait for Agent Sitwell.
An idea comes to mind on how to calm her, and he figures he may as well give it a shot. Fury isn’t going to be happy with his decision, though. He taps his comm, “can someone please send Agent Levinson to room 626, please?”
Ari’s breaths come in short pants. His muscles flex underneath the tight gray shirt he’s wearing as he does push-ups on the floor of the room designated to him in the Sheild safe house.
With each breath he takes and every force of his muscles, he tries to push further back the one omega that entrapped him with her scent. The overly sweet mixture of peony flowers and honey. The mix made him feral and dangerous. She keeps resurfacing despite trying to shove her in the back of his mind. Like a song that keeps replaying in your head no matter how much other music you listen to. Ari pushes himself harder, trying to think of other people, places, and anything else.
The beach. My beach house. Sammy. The mission. Finding her. Peonies and honey. Wait-
“Fuck,” Ari growls as his cock swells in his shorts. It’s like he’s a horny teenager thinking about a crush. It’s annoying as hell. He sits back on his haunches, wiping the sweat from his brow. The omega hasn’t left his mind since he saved her, and it’s scaring the shit out of him.
Ari shouldn’t be reacting to her like he is. He stands and grabs his water bottle, downing the contents. Ari remembers the last time an entrapped omega him as she did, which didn’t end well. He’s not planning for a repeat of last time. He has to stay away from her and hope the effects of her scent wear off on him.
Ari sits on his bed and runs his fingers through his neck-length hair. So far, he’s been able to work his body through most of the cravings. Once they landed at the safe house, S.H.I.E.L.D’s medical staff grabbed her to remove her tracker and do a general health check-up. Ari was led off the jet in cuffs and a muzzle. All of his team yelled at Sitwell about how unnecessary it was, but Ari knew they were treating him like any rouge alpha.
Only after a full psychological exam that took two hours was Ari deemed back in control, even though he already knew he was. Then they questioned him about what happened, what caused the snap, if it would happen again, and everything else Ari didn’t know the answer to. After hearing the story, Fury decided that Ari would be suspended for two months. Once this set of girls is off to the rehabilitation facility, Ari has to go to his house and stay there for leave.
Ari agrees with the punishment. It’s fair enough. Gives him some time to think over everything, and hopefully, by the end of the two weeks, she won’t be playing in his head like a broken record. A record that repeats the memory of her saccharine sent, the feel of her soft skin under his rough fingertips. He groans, rubbing his head, a slight headache building. He’s unsure if it’s from his many workouts to control himself from running to find her or fighting his inner alpha about her.
His alpha howls at him to search, to make sure she’s okay, and to soothe her when she wakes up somewhere unfamiliar. It’s making his body yearn for her. He can’t remember the last time he’s popped so many erections in three hours since he’s been back to his room. He won’t give in to the cravings, though. She should go through processing, leave the building, and never be around him again. His alpha may demand her as his new omega, but he refuses to do that to her.
She’s finally free, and he’s too fucked in the head to take a new omega.
Ari’s brooding is interrupted by a knock at the door. He doesn’t move from his spot on the floor and instead shouts out.
“Yeah?!”
“Ari, it’s Sam. Let me in.” Sammy calls back and rattles his locked doorknob.
Ari curses and stands, unlocking the door before heading to his bathroom. He can sense the confusion and concern coming in waves off Sammy. He already knows the questions coming his way and the apologies he has to make. Sammy follows Ari as he goes into the bathroom to run water over his face and neck.
“What the hell is going on with you, man? You really scared me back at that facility. I thought you were going to hurt someone. Are you okay?” Ari spots Sammy watching his reflection in the mirror with a frown on his face. He spots the bandage on Sammy’s head. He does his best to keep his demeanor calm and his mouth in a grim line.
“The real question is if you’re okay.” Ari turns to him and looks him in the eyes, “I’m really sorry about what happened back there, Sam. I couldn’t control myself. Did I do that?” He points to the bandage.
Sammy lightly runs his fingers over the gauze, “yeah, you did. But I’m fine, and so is the girl, if you’re wondering. I can see you regret what happened. We all can. Going feral was out of your control, though, Ari.”
“I know that. It doesn’t make me feel any better. I don’t know what it was about that omega’s scent that’s causing—caused me to go feral. Not even Sarah did that to me.” Ari shakes his head and leans back against the porcelain sink.
“I think I know.” Sammy says carefully, gauging Ari’s reaction, “she’s your singer.”
“What? You mean, like my soulmate?” An incredulous laugh leaves Ari’s lips at the thought. There’s no way in hell she’s his soulmate.
“Yeah, I mean, it all adds up.” Sammy begins pacing a bit like he always does when thinking hard about something. “When an alpha meets their singer omega, it causes an intense flood of pheromones and hormones to flood both parties. Which, in turn, causes a feral-like reaction from the alpha to claim their mate, and if the omega wasn’t unconscious, she might have had a breakthrough heat. However, the tranquilizers allowed her to bypass that part of the process. It explains your behavior and intense reaction, but your self-control must be extraordinary to not have claimed her.”
“Wait, slow down.” Ari places a hand on his shoulder to stop him from moving, “Sammy, this sounds ridiculous. She’s not my singer, I’ve heard of those, and they’re extremely rare.”
“It’s the only explanation, Ari. She’s your chance to move on-”
“No!” The word immediately leaves Ari’s lips in a snarl, and he lets go of Sammy. He felt this was coming. Sammy was always trying to get him to leave Sarah behind. Using their team’s connections to try and set him up on dates. It always pissed him off. The thought of Sammy using this girl, the one who caused him to lose control completely, nearly makes him see red.
“She’s not my singer or omega, and I am not her alpha! I had my omega, and you know I refuse to take another!” Ari barks.
Sammy meets Ari head-on despite the anger and anguish rippling off the alpha. His gray-blue meeting Ari’s baby blue in a challenging stare. More often than not, Sammy isn’t afraid to challenge Ari and stand up to him, knocking him down a peg when his Alpha genes take over. It’s something Ari has always admired about him, but right now, it’s setting him on edge.
“Ari, Sarah is dead-”
“Sam!”
“She’s not coming back, and you’ve been punishing yourself too long.” Sam’s jaw sets, and the tension in the room skyrockets even further. Ari clenches his fists to keep from hauling off and punching the man in front of him. He doesn’t care how right he is; all he knows is that Sammy needs to shut the fuck up.
“I’m not done with the mission,” Ari says, trying his best to keep the growl out of his voice. His inner alpha howls at him to put Sammy in his place and remind him of their designations, but he won’t do that to a concerned friend.
“That’s the same excuse you’ve told me for six years. Ari, if she is your singer-”
“Damn it, Sammy! She’s not!” Ari snaps again, his chest puffing out as he tries to make himself bigger. He steps closer in an attempt to intimidate him again. Sammy has none of it, keeping his stare and his fists tightening.
“IF she is. Don’t push her away. Give this a chance is all I’m saying. You’ve beaten yourself for six years, trying to blame yourself for Sarah’s death. It wasn’t your fault, and if this girl could help you move on. Then it’s worth a shot, isn’t it?”
“No,” Ari says, his voice unwavering as he shoulders Sammy out of his way and returns to his room. He throws open his window in an attempt to get some fresh air. Hoping that it’ll cool his head and the heat of anger swirling in him.
“Why the hell not?!” Sammy scoffs, still following after him.
“Maybe because she just got her fucking life back!” Ari snaps at him, “she just got saved from being controlled all her life by alphas. I’m sure she’ll love hearing that another is ready to step up and suffocate her again!”
“That’s when you take it slow. Help her get through the program, let her have and understand her freedom. Get to know her and tell her about the tension between you two because I’m positive she will have no idea. Then let her decide. It’s not that hard, Ari. I’m not telling you to claim her. I’m telling you to keep her close and get to know her.”
Ari goes silent at that. He knows what Sammy tells him isn’t a horrible idea. But he can’t trust himself. Ari can’t hurt her like he hurt Sarah. He shakes his head and lets out a deep sigh.
“Sammy, I can’t go near her again. What if I go feral again, huh? I could bond with her and I doubt either of us want that. Or I could end up hurting someone like I hurt you.”
“You won’t. The initial finding process has passed. You should be able to control yourself with no problem. Her scent may just be stronger, and make you a bit…ah…sexually frustrated since you haven’t claimed her.”
“I’m not seeing her again. And that’s final.” Ari states.
“Well, that’s too damn bad because they’re requesting your presence in her room.”
“What? Why?” Ari’s head snaps up at that. Why the hell would they need him? He thought for sure Fury would want to keep his ass far away from her after what happened.
“I don’t know the specifics, just that she’s completely freaking out and banging against her door. They’re worried she’ll hurt herself. They can’t give her more tranquilizers because she still has the anesthesia from her tracking implant removal in her system.”
“If they need an alpha to calm her, why not send one of the other agents?” Ari demands despite the immediate disapproval of another alpha laying a hand on her, ringing through his head.
“Everyone knows what happened during the mission, and more than a few people have come to the same conclusion I did. Everyone knows she’s your singer.” Sammy sighs.
“Well, it’s none of their fucking business,” Ari grumbles. For a secret agent facility, no one keeps any personal secrets around here. “Wait, does that mean Steve-?”
“Yeah, your brother knows too. He wanted to come here before I did, but Fury pulled him away for debriefing.”
“Shit,” Ari huffs. Steve is the last person he wants to talk with about all this. The last thing he needs is his brother lecturing him about becoming their father. In fact, if Steve even mentions their father, he’ll sock the fucker in the jaw. “What does her possibly being my singer have to do with me going up there?”
“You’ll have the most immediate calming effect on her since she is your singer. Ari, if you are convinced she’s not, then prove it to yourself. If your presence doesn’t calm her, then she’ll have the same distress levels.”
“If that’s true, how come she panicked when we saved her?” Ari questions him with narrowed eyes; he’s confident that proves she’s not it.
“She hurt you. An omega hurting an alpha already triggers a fear response in them. An omega hurting their singer? It makes the response ten times worse. It also seemed she focused intensely on protecting the little ones in her charge, which would alter her response to you. Upstairs it will be just you and her. You’ll get your best answer there.” Sammy smirks, knowing he has Ari beat. The man has two doctorates, one in medicine and the other in designation studies; he knows his shit.
Ari grunts and takes a moment to think. He knows Sammy’s right. He just hates that he is. She can’t be his singer. It would fuck up too much. It just has to be some weird reaction he had to her scent. He can feel his alpha tugging again as if in agreement with Sammy. He knows he can keep that fucker in his chains now. He’s going to be more prepared this time.
“Fine.” Ari relents, and Sammy gives him a big victorious grin. “Wipe that look off your face before I do it for ya’ Sammy. I’m just doing it 'cause I hate the thought of the poor girl hurting herself in a panic.”
“Whatever helps you sleep at night. Now get moving.” Sammy claps Ari on the back, pushing him towards the door.
Ari huffs and goes straight to the stairs. Despite his reluctance, his feet begin moving quickly up the six flights. Hoping he gets there before she hurts herself too severely.

💐Zombie's Bouquet Event💐
A bouquet for you! Featuring: Ari Levinson; Grumpy/Sunshine; Omegaverse; Smut. Hope you like!
++++++
"I don't get why you're so interested in that comic book character when I'm right here," Ari grumbles.
"Because it's his birthday," you retort with a smile.
"He's not even real."
"Which is why I'm not buying him presents. I'm just sharing stories about him with my online friends."
Ari huffs. This close to his rut he tends to get very needy and grumpy. The fact that you're spending more time talking about Captain America than you are taking care of your Alpha is making him even more of a grump.
Your in the middle of reading when you giggle on a way that really sets him off. That's the giggle you make when he's on top of you and kissing you all over. He stands behind you and growls, making you freeze. From his scent you can tell his rut has just kicked in.
He grabs you from your seat and carries you to your nest. As soon as you're on the mattress he's all over you. Kissing, nipping, kneading, licking, tearing your clothes. You're so wet and ready for him before he's really gotten started.
"My Omega," he growls. "You only make those pretty noises for me."
"Yes, Alpha," you moan. You might have to get your grumpy Alpha riled up more often.
Ahhh thank you so much 💐 Alpha Ari always gets me so feral 🥵

Grind Me Down
Alpha!Ari Levinson x Omega!Reader (You)
Summary: You're in your heat, but Ari has something else in mind.
Warning: Smut, grinding, overstimulation, Omegaverse
“Ari -” You let out a sound in between moan and whimper, breathing heavily, “hurts – I can’t - ”
Ari has an arm behind his head. Hearing your plead, he merely raised his eyebrows as if doubting whether you are telling the truth, pulling his arm out so he could hold your waist with both hands, “but baby, you’re the one saying you wanted me.” He suggestively places his large palm on your thigh and squeezes, flashing his wolfish grin, “and you gotta work for it.”
You have been riding him for minutes. Hours. Too long for you to take a look at a watch or a clock.
Not on his cock. God no.
You’d feel much better if you are riding his cock instead of whatever you are doing now.
You merely whimpered “want you, Ari” at the beginning of your heat, and he had sprawl over your carefully built nest, and laid down comfortably, for you to take what you want.
Your pussy clenches, and clenches again. Reminding you the fact that you are grinding on his abs.
The happy trail tickles your sensitive bundle of nerves. Even though they are soaking wet with your juices. He never shaves himself clean, soft yet rigid hair always has been both pleasure and pain when he touches you intimately. When he knows his rough beard feels like torture to your oversensitive pussy and rubs his cheek on your most delicate pedals.
You shiver at the thought. You have grinded both his thighs, cummed on both of his thighs, and you feel another orgasm pending.
You let out a burning breath, gradually slowing yourself down, because you know, from your throbbing pussy, that this will hurt.
“Tut tut tut.” The large hand moves to your pelvis, sticking his thumb between your wetness and his abs. Ari mutters as he feels your muscles tightening and another moan coaxed out of your red swollen lips, “there’s no backing down, darling.” He spares a glimpse at you, sweaty and desperate. Your body glowing pink, your heat burning, which is only a bit too pity that it hasn’t triggered his rut yet.
He thought might as well allow your pheromones to cover every inch of his body to speed up the process. What could have been a better way when he came up with the idea to let you grind on him?
The beast in his heart rumbles, getting more angsty by the minute.
Ari pushes his hair back, laying back once more on the pillow, pressing the rough pad of his thumb on your clit, “Cum for me, darling. Cum for your alpha, little one.”
The alpha voice.
You have to cum for your alpha.
His blue eyes wide blown, as he tugs on your clit and your whole body trembles. Your back arches. And you claw on to his arm and his chest, leaving little rosy crescents of your nail mark.
“…so fucking sexy baby,” Ari pulls you down for a kiss, devouring you, biting you, kissing you, “so pretty, fuckin’ mine. All mine.”
“Yours, Ari.” You whisper, licking your lips as his beard burn leaves another imprint, “want you, want your cock,” you whimper, as you feel like your waist could never support your body to sit up every again, “please please please Ari. Please, Alpha.”
Ari snakes an arm behind your back.
It does tempt him, one briefest of moments, to take control and fuck you until you are impaled to his knot and belly full with his seed. But you are too pretty. Too precious. Too delicate.
He just couldn’t let this chance slip away from his hand.
“You’re a good little omega, yeah?” His canines sink into your skin. Into your flesh. Drawing blood. Pure pain erupts from your neck. Having you cry out. Immobile too. Thanks to his arm pinning you down.
Your body burns hotter as his scent hits you like a bus. His scent travelling down your veins as he strengthens your mark. His voice ghosting your ear.
You want your alpha so bad. You want him to mount you. To take you. To have his way with you. You want to be marked over and over again, even if it hurts.
“My good little omega.”
You watch him with hooded eyes, you hear him speak praises, you smell him in you.
“Good little omega takes orders, right?” He positions you on his arm. His veiny arm. Your pussy throbs when the sensitive parts touch him. “Your alpha wants you to cum on both of his arms.” Ari lays the other arm back as a pillow to support his head, not helping you in the slightest, as the beast in his heart rattles the cage, “better get started.”

Summary | The last thing you need is a distraction while trying to run a small auto shop. Ari Levinson is just that and more.
Todd hears the sound of a rumbling motorcycle, stilling his movements for a moment, hear the sound clearer, more distinct before the engine cuts off. It could be anyone, a lone biker needing someone to look at his bike or, as Todd scents, someone who has come back to check on a familiar stomping ground.
His pace quickens to get to the door, meeting none other than Tyler Rake at the entrance. It feels silly to get emotional, seeing the tatted Alpha, one that has been his found family since he can remember, giving him a hug as Tyler grips him tight. He lets the tears flow, knowing that it’s because the sense of his grounding is back. He’d never had an older brother but Tyler came damn close, if not going above and beyond. He’d given him a job, given him a sense of his own agency, especially as an Omega.
When he pulls away, Tyler doesn’t make any mention of the tears, merely squeezing his shoulder as he looks around the shop. He seems proud, nodding with approval at the amount of awards that are placed above on the walls.
“You’ve all turned this place into something else,” Tyler praises, pushing open a door. “Is she here?”
“Uh, no,” Todd answers him quickly, knowing you’re away for a little. He wants to text you, let you know that Tyler is back but he doesn’t know if Ari is there or if you’re doing some important pregnant Omega thing. “She’s out at the moment.”
“She didn’t answer my call so I figured as much. Wanted to surprise you all.”
“It is a surprise,” Todd insists, pushing open the door of the back of the shop.
“Well, look at this shit,” Tyler murmurs, his eyes widening at the amount of tools. “How much through put?”
“On average, twenty cars?”
“You need another shop,” Tyler notes, Todd nodding in agreement. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“We didn’t want to bother you, you know? You were out seeing the world and honestly,” Todd says with a wave of his hand. “We can manage it. We stay late, the work gets done. No unhappy customers.”
“That’s what I like to hear.” Tyler turns around, facing Todd. “You hungry? Let’s get some lunch.”
You’re supposed to meet him at his office for lunch, the security guard letting you up with a polite wave, taking the elevator up as you try to text him again to let him know you’re almost there.
When the elevator doors open, you inhale, immediately knowing that someone else is close.
And it isn’t Ari.
Delilah is slowly putting things in a box, hidden away from Ari’s office. You see her clear as day, muttering to herself when you step out of the elevator, her eyes snapping up at you. Immediately, her gaze goes to your swollen belly in your coveralls, a slight sneer on her glossed lips.
“Do you have an appointment?” Delilah sniffs, reaching for her phone.
“Do you have a job?” you fire back, trying to temper your irritation at seeing her. Ari had told you it was done and now, seeing her as she looks at her phone as if you’re bothering her, only lends to your anger that is rising.
“Why is that any of your business?” Delilah shoots back, glaring at you while you take a step forward.
“I have an appointment, it’s always on the top of his calendar,” you reply, Delilah swallowing hard at your words when she moves away from the desk and toward you.
"Do you know who Ari Levinson truly is? He could have anyone he wants,” Delilah says quietly, looking you up and down with disgust. “You’re not mated. Do you think he’ll ever truly bond you? You’re a fling who just so happens to be having his bastard child. That’s not a win, you -”
Teeth bared, you throw her down onto the carpeted floor, her whimper of surprise falling on deaf ears as you grab the lapels of her shirt.
“What did you just call my baby?” you ask, your voice low.
“A bastard,” Delilah hisses. “He’ll leave it and you behind. It’s probably not even his.”
The blow hits her squarely in the jaw and then another, your hands in her hair, her screams not registering despite her mouth opening and you’re pulled off of her by a pair of strong arms, Delilah in hysterics as she wails, laying on her side, covering her face. Pure rage roils inside you, your heart beating rapidly when you scent Ari, his own heart thumping against your back.
“Ari!” Delilah cries, your hard pants mixing with her shouts of pain. “She hit me!”
“Let me go!” you demand, Ari’s hands cradling your belly, trying to settle you down as you lunge for her again.
“No,” Ari says firmly. “Not here.”
His voice is low in your ear, his scent calming you as tears spring to your eyes. You won’t give her the satisfaction of seeing you cry, blinking them away when Delilah stumbles to get up.
“Shit,” Ari mutters, still holding onto you. “What happened?”
“She attacked me! She’s unhinged! She jumped at me out of nowhere!” Delilah sobs.
“Bastard,” you say calmly, noticing blood on your knuckles. “She called our baby a bastard.”
Ari’s hold on you tightens as he glares at Delilah, her mouth opening and closing, struggling with what she wants to say.
“A bastard,” he repeats, Delilah wiping blood away from her mouth.
He lets you go gently, crouching down to see Delilah’s face. You managed to get in a good hit, mascara melded with her tears as she holds her jaw.
“What are you doing here, anyway?” he asks calmly, looking at the boxes. “As I recall, your access was revoked when I fired you. How did you get in?”
“Wilson let me in,” she sniffles. “I wanted to pack, to say goodbye.”
“You trespassed,” Ari says, standing up as he looks down at her. “Which, if I’m remembering correctly, is a crime.”
“She assaulted me!”
Ari nods in agreement, following with your own nod of approval.
“I can call the police if you like,” he offers, Delilah glancing between you both. “But I think we both know what the penalty is for threatening an unborn baby.”
“I didn’t threaten it!”
“That,” he says through clenched teeth. “Is my child you’re talking about.”
A flash of remembrance of what she said prior propels you take a step further, Delilah cowering as Ari puts his hand up to stop you.
“Delilah, you have less than five minutes to get out of my sight,” he orders, his tone short, nearly an Alpha command before he looks at you.
Delilah scrambles to get her purse, wiping her mouth again before running full speed out the door. Ari breathes heavily at the spots of blood on the carpet, trying to maintain his composure when you hear the elevator doors close.
“If she calls the cops,” you begin, a smirk playing on your lips. “It will have been worth it.”
“You aren’t going to jail,” Ari says, pulling you close, holding you tight as he lets out a shuddered breath. “You fucking scared me. I heard the scream and I -”
“You think she hit me?” you ask incredulously, looking up at him in disbelief. “There’s no way she would even get close.”
“Are you and the baby okay?” he asks, his hands running down the sides of your belly. “You can’t just go off and knock the ever-loving daylights out of people.”
“She deserved it,” you mutter, feeling your temper spike. “She called our baby a bastard. A bastard, Ari! Like I’d let her get away with that.”
He kisses your forehead, the fight immediately dissipating as you frown.
“You could have been hurt,” he reminds you, shaking his head when you roll your eyes. “I mean it. She could have fought dirty.”
“She would have had to know how to fight to fight dirty.”
Ari says your name as a warning, his hand raking his hair back.
“Do you think she’ll call the cops?” you ask, wondering how orange would look on you.
“She’s not calling the cops. Not with all the things I know she’s done.”
“Like what?”
“One crazy day at a time,” he reminds you, turning you back toward his office. “I’m starving.”
You smile, knowing exactly where you’re going.
“Food is that way,” you remind him, pointing toward the elevator.
“I know what I want,” Ari says, closing the door behind you both before he kisses you. “And I want it now.”
“Vision Automotive,” you answer, cleaning a tool as your hold the phone to your ear. You’re in a good mood, Todd giving you a strange look when he first saw your bandaged hand.
“Don’t we have a receptionist?” Tyler teases.
The tool clatters to the floor before you clear your throat.
“They get days off too, you know,” you reply. “Am I not doing a good job, Rake? Getting worried that you haven’t heard anything?”
“Just the opposite. I’m actually in town for a little bit. Maybe longer depending on what I have going on. Wanted to see all the great work you’ve been doing. Todd says it’s been packed with cars non-stop.”
“I wouldn’t say non-stop,” you counter, looking at the three waiting cars to be worked on. “We do close at seven.”
“Always a smartass,” Tyler muses. “Would my best mechanic want to join me for a bar hop since I’m back in town?”
“Bar hop?” you repeat, looking at the jumpsuit that is snug around your waist. “Too busy for that.”
“At least let me take you and Todd out for a nice dinner. Consider it a thank you for everything you’ve both been doing.”
“Sounds good to me. See you tomorrow.”
Todd’s back is to you and you already know that he’s aware that Tyler is back in town, tossing a rag at the middle of his back.
“When were you going to tell me he was back?” you ask Todd.
“When you realized you missed two of his phone calls,” Todd replies, your hand diving into your pocket to look at your missed calls. You smile sheepishly, putting your phone back into your pocket.
“Way to warn a girl that her boss was already here.”
Tyler finishes off a beer, flicking the bottle into the bin as it falls perfectly inside. Looking over at his ’67 Chevelle, he pops the hood to look at the shiny engine that he’s just replaced, tightening a bolt before he steps back.
He knows you’ll roll your eyes at the sight of it. It’s been his pride and joy since he bought it two years ago, finally finishing up the repairs and final touches. He’s impressed with how you’ve handled the shop, though truthfully he’s always known that you were going to do a great job, even as he’d traveled the world, randomly getting updates from Todd on how busy the shop was getting, checking on you to make sure you weren’t getting too burned out.
As it turned out, Todd’s check-ins had been vague after a while, sharing that you had been out of the office for a weekend, then a few extra days. Unlike you to take so much time off but it had been well deserved.
Tyler looks at the picture he took of you at the shop before he left, the wallpaper on his phone as you’re juggling a wrench and screwdriver in the air, a bright smile on your face with a smudge of motor oil on your cheek. It’s something that cheers him up when he needs a break, placing his phone back down as he stretches, a thought running across his mind.
Dialing Todd’s number, he picks up after the first ring.
“Hey boss,” Todd answers brightly. “Everything okay?”
“Shop closes at seven, right?”
“Sure does. Are you coming for another visit?”
“Yeah,” Tyler says with a slight pause. “But don’t tell her. Let it be a surprise.”
“Sure, you know she loves those,” Todd replies dryly. “But will do.”
“Good.”
He can’t put his finger on it but he’s sure you’re hiding something.
And he can't wait to find out.

Part 3 -- Part 5
Series Masterlist
True to her word, Nat let you stay held as long as you needed. You hadn't realized how touch starved you'd been. You were never much for physical contact before but Dr. Kemp had said that, part of being an Omega was an increased need for it. The yelling between Ari and Steve had either died down or moved elsewhere and you were feeling the need to get up and walk around.
Nat kept hold of your hand as she walked you out of the debriefing area. For someone so much smaller than you, she really had an air of strength that made you feel you could lean on her if you really needed to. Her status as being in charge of the Omegas really made sense.
"We're going to go for a gradual introduction into our community," she tells you when you enter a kitchen area. "You're an unmarked Omega who's hurting and our people are going to be compelled to help you, take care of you. It's a consequence of being a communal species; if you had a personal pack, there'd be less push because you have a trusted circle to take care of you. But since you're unmarked, if you're in trouble, everyone is going to want to help, much like when a child is crying or scared. A gradual introduction will be good so that you don't get overwhelmed and they can remember to restrain themselves. That said, you might still get a lot of unwanted attention. If you tell them 'no' and they still bother you, let me know. You could probably take care of yourself, but your scent indicates you're more the gentle, non-confrontational type."
"That could be the training they put me through," you counter.
She smiles, "your scent is a reflection of yourself, your core personality. It's currently mixed with others that indicate trauma, pain. But the underlying scent stays true."
"What is my scent? No one's ever told me."
"The underlying scent from you is a warm cinnamon, vanilla and brown sugar mixture," she smiles. "You're a real cinnamon roll."
"Huh, no wonder he didn't like it." Nat gives you a confused look. "Ari, when...when he bought me. He said he didn't want me because he didn't like my scent. He really seems the type to prefer spicy over sweet." You say that last part with a half smile, hoping she'll find it funny instead of sad.
She looks angry. "Give me a moment to add this to the list of Ari's bullshit." You nod and she pulls out her phone, typing up a message before putting it away. "He can be such an ass. But, good news, he's not your problem. If you never want to see him again, you won't. I'll make sure of it."
"That's...thank you," is all you can say as you lower your head.
"In the meantime, we've got a small apartment ready for you," she leads you onward. "It's not the nicest, but it's good for transitioning until we can find you a spot in our community. And no," she looks at you pointedly, "that doesn't mean get you a mate. If you find one, that's great. If you don't want one, that's great, too. I genuinely mean a role, a job, or something like that."
You breathe a sigh of relief and nod your understanding. Several hours ago you were resigned to a life as a sex slave, maybe even forced pregnancy. But the more time you spend with Natasha, the more you let yourself be hopeful for something better. No wonder her scent is like a river, providing life giving water while refusing to be stopped.
Stepping outside you look up and freeze. The stars, what few you can see past the lights of the building, are gorgeous. More importantly, they're another reminder of your freedom. And a reminder of all that you lost. You want to break down and cry again, but then Nat gets your attention.
"Hey, hey, look at me," she coos. "There's no way you'll get over this quickly. No one would ever expect you to. But I need you to keep walking with me to your apartment, okay? I don't want you out here too long and getting sick or attracting unwanted attention." You nod and continue walking. "Good news, I made sure your apartment has a skylight so you can keep looking at the stars, the moon, the clouds, even if you don't have the energy to go outside."
"Thank you," you whisper. Right now you can't imagine not wanting to be outside but you find yourself trusting her. Especially her kindness.
She takes you to what looks like a well kept motel. These must be the apartments. Sure enough, some of them have skylights while others don't.
Natasha walks up to one of the doors and hands you a key. "This apartment is meant to be a safe space for you so there's only one key and it will always belong to you."
"What about in case of emergency?"
"We break down the door or crash through a window."
"Fair." You grip the key tightly before turning to the door. You haven't had a space for yourself in so long but you're also worried this is going to be another cell. A much nicer cell, but a cell nonetheless. Taking a deep breath to steady your nerves, you unlock the door and take a few steps inside. It's plain, but not unwelcoming. There's even a small vase with flowers on the table in the living/dining area. It's a decent size for a temporary apartment. It certainly looks nicer than your last one. The one you'll never see again.
As you're turning and looking at things you realize Nat has stayed at the door. "What are you doing?" you ask her.
"You haven't given me permission to enter your space," she says, matter-of-factly.
The hope you've been struggling with grows a little stronger with that.

The Truth
Pairing: Ari Levinson x Reader
WC: ~6.8K
Warnings: This is an Omegaverse fic. If this bothers you, please do not read it. Alternatively, this will include smut, so Minors, DO NOT Interact!! You are responsible for your own media consumption. I have put the proper warnings on this fic. Ari being an absolute sweetheart.
Summary: Finding out the truth. (I suck at summaries)
Divider - Firefly graphics.
It all happened so quickly. One day, she was here. The next day, she was gone. And had left you to plan a funeral, wake, and make sure the family knew she was gone. Grief can be a fickle little thing. Especially when there wasn’t much emotion. You always thought when your mother passed, there would be anger, crying, sadness, and just raw emotions. But there wasn’t.
You weren’t angry at the world for taking her, you weren’t crying every minute of the day. Yes, you missed her terribly, but the lack of emotion made you feel wrong. Like you should be crying every minute of the day, like you should be angry and cursing the world for taking her from you.
Stephanie, a long time friend of yours, was one of the first people you called after the funeral. “There’s something seriously wrong with me.” You told her.
“No, there’s not. You don’t need to be overly emotional. You can miss her without all of that.” She said, softly.
“She was my mom, Steph! She’s gone, and I haven’t even cried since I found her! I cried a little bit today, but other than that, there has been no emotion. Is it a trauma response? What’s happening?”
“You’re not the first person who hasn’t had a crazy emotional response. You cried when you found her, and evidently, today. There’s nothing wrong with you.”
You sighed, “I have to go. You’re still coming with me tomorrow right?”
“To go through the house? Absolutely! After we go through it, I’m thinking maybe we can make a list of what you want changed, and we can get the supplies. I have a friend, who’d be able to help with pretty much any renovations or anything you’d need. He’s a bit of a handyman.”
“Yeah. Actually, that may be a good idea. I don’t know if I want to change too much about it though. We’ll probably have to re-paint it. But I do want the front porch re-built. So if he can do that, just get him to give me a price point.”
“Perfect! Do you want me to have him meet us out there? Or do you want to wait?” “No, you can have him meet us there. I do want to do this as soon as possible. The sooner the better!” You smiled.
“Perfect! I’ll see you tomorrow!!”
“Thanks, Steph!” You called before hanging up the phone. There was a serenity in Stephanie's words that unfailingly put you at ease. Quickly changing into your pajamas, you climb into bed. It didn’t take long before you were falling asleep.
Waking up the next morning proved difficult. You had opted to pack away the final little things, like the coffee maker, mugs, blenders, little appliances. Texting Steph, you asked if she wanted a coffee, before changing.
After her ‘no thank you’, you grabbed your stuff and walked out the door to your old apartment. You’d be back tomorrow to get your stuff. Hopping in your vehicle, you headed to your family home.
It didn’t take very long to get there, seeing Steph and her friend were already there. Stepping out of the vehicle, you called, “Hey!” walking over to her.
“There she is!” Steph smiled as she walked over to you, wrapping her arms around you, “It’s good to see you.”
“You, too!” You hug her back.
Smiling, she pulled away, “c’mon,” she pulled you up the front steps, “this is Ari Levinson. The handyman-slash-friend, I was telling you about.” She then proceeded to introduce you to him.
He turned to you, and your breath caught in your throat, he was massive. Easily 6’4, and broad shoulders made him look intimidating. The soft smile on his face indicated he was anything but.
“It’s nice to meet you.” You said as you held your hand out to him.
“Trust me, the pleasure is all mine, Sunshine.” His voice was deep, as his hand encased yours. Shaking his hand, your face heated and you weren’t sure if it was the nickname, or if it was the sheer size of him.
Clearing your throat, you dropped his hand, “no point in staying outside. Can I get you guys anything? Coffee? Tea? Water?” You asked unlocking the door and stepping in. Steph and Ari shook their heads as they stepped in behind you.
“You weren’t kidding when you said this place was big huh?” Steph said, voice in awe.
You giggled, “she loved the extravagance. You know that.”
You smiled as Steph took a look around the expansive living room. It had been a while since you had been here. Being an only child, oftentimes left you feeling alone and isolated here in the house. It was nice to see someone enjoy it.
Ari’s shoulder gently knocked into yours, before his voice washed over you again, “I hope I’m not overstepping. Steph filled me in. I’m terribly sorry about your loss.”
You couldn’t explain the sudden surge of emotion that washed over you. You had people express their condolences to you all day yesterday, but still the condolences of a stranger had your eyes misting over. “Thank you..” you whispered.
Ari cleared his throat, “Steph mentioned you wanted the deck redone. How about I take a look at it, come up with a few different sketches, and we’ll go from there?”
You nodded, and looked up into those beautiful ocean blue eyes of his. “Thank you.” You said a little firmer this time.
“No need for that.” He stated, offering a small smile as he walked back out.
Within an hour, you and Stephanie had most of your mothers things sectioned out. You had a keep bag, a donate bag, and a garbage bag.
“I think it may be time for a break?” You questioned, looking over at her.
“What did you have in mind?”
“Let me take you guys out to lunch? We can take this donated bag out to the shelter. Then I’ll move my stuff tomorrow.”
“Sure! I can see if we can borrow Ari’s truck tomorrow. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind.”
“Steph! You don’t have to help me move, you’ve already done enough. So has Ari.”
“I don’t wanna hear it. C’mon. Let’s go.”
You giggled and followed her after tying off the ‘donate’ bag.
Walking outside, you put the bag in your trunk, and walked over to Steph, and Ari, catching the tail end of the conversation.
“-- your truck. It’ll be a lot easier to move the boxes.”
Ari chuckled, “why don’t I just pick you up and we can head out together? I don’t have anything else to do tomorrow but grab the wood for the porch. Speaking of which,” he turns to you sketchbook in hand, “there’s 3 separate options.”
Gently take it, “You guys are helping me enough, trust me, I can handle a little bit of moving.” You glanced at the open page of the sketchbook. The first option was a wrap around porch, with a white finish. The second was a few steps, with a small sitting area, with a dark cherry finish. The third was a basic flat porch, with a mesh covering, resembling a sunroom, with a light brown wood finish. “My mother would’ve loved the first one.”
“You don’t have to handle it. Not yourself. Is the first one the one you love?” Ari questioned, eyes never leaving you, as you hand him the sketchbook back.
“Yeah.” You were interrupted by your alarm going off. “Alright. Lunch? I need to take this medication, and I can’t take it on an empty stomach!” You giggled, before hopping back in your vehicle.
The drive to the diner, and the first half of lunch, was filled with laughs, jokes, and Ari asking questions to get to know you better. Mostly family questions. He had learned that you were an only child, your father had left when you were just 3-4 years old, and that you and Stephanie had known each other for the better part of 15 years.
You pulled the bottle of medication out of your purse, dispensed a pill and took it. “So what does this medication help with?” Ari asked you, with a weird look in his eyes that you couldn’t place.
“It’s to help me focus. I’ve been on it since I was 6 or 7. My mother noticed I had issues with focusing, and so here I am stuck taking it for the rest of my life.” You smiled, handing the bottle to him so he could see.
Ari took it, humming as he read the label. He passed it back to you without saying anything else. The rest of the lunch went by fairly well, except for the fact that Ari was quiet, and reserved.
You had tried multiple times to get his attention, but to no avail. He either flat out ignored the attempt, or he just hummed. The ride back to the house was just as quiet.
You hugged Steph again before she hopped in her vehicle, promising to see you again tomorrow morning. Walking over to Ari, you felt the overwhelming need to apologize. “Hey,” you said just before he closed the driver's side door, “I just wanted to apologize.. If I made you uncomfortable or anything.”
Ari shook his head, “You didn’t. You don’t have to apologize. And again, I hope I’m not overstepping, but I think you should look into that medication you’re taking.” He said, voice low as if it was a secret. “W-What..? Wh-” You began to say before he interrupted you.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” He said before closing his door, and driving off, leaving you dumbfounded.
You hadn’t slept the night before, completely enraptured with Ari’s warning. The tone of his voice as he said it, how quiet he was after reading the label. You had read the label so many times since he put it back in your hands, you had it practically memorized.
You didn’t find anything on the medication. Nothing. Not even what you were supposed to be taking it for. It was as if the medication didn’t exist, which only fueled your confusion more.
A knock at the door startled you, but you got up and opened it, seeing Steph, and Ari on the other side. You stepped aside and allowed them in, keeping your eyes not on Ari. Anywhere but him.
“Thank you guys for your help again.” You whispered.
Steph frowned, “Are you okay? Are you not feeling well?”
“I’m okay. Can we just get this done, please?” You kept your voice low, grabbing a box and walked past Ari out the door.
It continued like that, all of you taking the boxes out quietly. Until Ari had cornered you in the apartment. “If you want me to leave, all you have to do is say the word, and I’ll leave.”
“Why would I want that?” You whispered.
“You tell me. You haven’t said one thing to me, or looked at me the entire time I’ve been here. I’m assuming it has something to do with yesterday.”
“You know what they say about assumptions.”
Ari whispered your name, “please”
“Look. I don’t know what game you’re playing, but it’s freaking me out. I couldn’t find anything. Nothing came up in my search for my medication.” You finally looked at him.
“I’m not playing any games. I swear, I’m not. Whatever you need, any questions you have, I can answer them.”
“Why? What do you know that you’re not telling me?”
“You really don’t know…” Ari frowned, “She never told you.”
Your eyes widened, “Who didn’t tell me? What is happening?”
“I’ll tell you everything, I just can’t tell you here. Okay?”
“Why? What is going on?”
“I promise, I’ll fill you in. Just let me figure out how.” Ari picked up a box beside you and nodded before walking it out to his truck.
This was the only conversation that happened throughout the moving process. Even in Ari’s truck on the way back to your family home. The dull sounds of the music filling the car, you tried to figure out what it was that he would tell you.
The words, she never told you, floated around in your head. Who could he be talking about? What did he know? “What did you do to the poor girl?” Steph’s voice brought you out of your thoughts.
“What are you talking about?” Ari retorted.
“She’s glaring at your seat, dumbass. What did you do to her?” “He didn’t. Sorry, I’m just in my head.” You interrupted.
Ari pulled into the driveway, and once again it was quiet unloading the boxes.
Once everything was put in the house, “Thanks again. I really appreciate it.” You glanced between Steph, and Ari. “It’s not a problem, do you want us to help unpack?” You shook your head, “You guys have helped enough.”
Steph nodded, and gave you a hug, “We’ll have to throw a little housewarming party.”
You giggled, hugging her back, “no, but we could do like a movie night if you wanted!”
“Sounds perfect. If you need anything, I’m always here.”
“I appreciate that.” You said as she walked back out to Ari’s truck.
Ari pulled his phone out, unlocked it and handed it to you. “If you have any questions. Don’t hesitate to reach out.”
“You have yet to answer my first question.” You said taking it, and putting your phone number in it, before handing it back to him.
“I will. I promise.” “So drop Steph at home, and come back. I need to know what’s going on. Please.”
Ari nodded, “okay.” before walking out, and to his car.
You knew Stephanie’s house wasn’t all that far, and yet, the minutes stretched to feel like hours. In the time Ari had gone, you had unpacked one singular box, stuff that was supposed to go in your room.
What did you need in said box? Your laptop. Maybe Google would yield different results on your computer vs your phone. You knew it wouldn’t but you needed a reason why it wasn’t showing up. Ari knocking on the door took you from your thoughts, “Come in!” You called.
Ari bit his lip as he entered, “I knew she probably wouldn’t tell you. She hated what he was. Hated that he didn’t tell her until after you were born.”
You looked up at him, eyes wide, not expecting him to come in explaining right off the bat.
“Your father was an alpha. Your mother never cared for the statuses of it all. Everyone in the town hated that he chose someone that wasn’t involved. She took you when you were 4 years old, and left. Swore off this life. That she wanted more for you.” He said, softer this time.
“You knew my dad? And you knew my mom. You… Did you know me?” Your voice shook.
“Your father introduced us. I was 5 years old when I first met you. You were 2. Your father tried to explain the intricacies to your mother, before she took you away from it all. She said that you weren’t going to be involved in this. That you deserved better.” Ari paced around the living room. “I didn’t think it was possible. Steph when she introduced you, I didn’t believe her. But you look so much like him.”
Your eyes widened, as tears gathered in your eyes, “Ari…”
“The medication is a type of blocker. Your mother must have gotten it from the doctor in town. He made sure to keep her secret. He didn’t mention where you were, or where she was. If he even knew, but he had to have. He kept refilling the prescription.” He was speaking as if to himself, as if trying to figure it all out.
“What does it block?” You whispered, completely shocked.
Ari snapped his head to you, “I… I’m so sorry. Is this. Maybe I should stop talking.”
“No!” You stood abruptly, “Please…”
Ari gulped audibly, “there are two different types. One only blocks heats. But it still keeps the heightened emotions, and senses. The other blocks everything. The one you have, blocks everything. It essentially shuts down your instincts.”
You took a deep breath, tears falling. Hastily wiping them away, “So what am I?”
“An Omega.”
A shiver zipped down your spine. “S-So… if I don’t take that medication what happens to me?”
“You’ll come into your instincts. It’s kind of like, you won’t know what that means for you until you actually embrace it.” You sat back down on the sofa. Ari cautiously sat down on the other end. “I know it’s a lot to take in…”
“What was he like?” You turned back to Ari, “my father.”
The corner of Ari’s mouth turned upwards, “He was a great man. A wonderful leader. He made sure everyone was taken care of. I wasn’t joking when I said you look a lot like him.”
“It doesn’t make sense. She said he left. That he made the choice to not be around…”
Ari shook his head, “He loved you. He hated that she took you with her.”
“He could’ve fought her for it!”
“And do what? They weren’t married.”
You shook your head, “So you knew who I was, before I knew you. I-I’m sorry, but I don’t remember you. I genuinely thought that we were just meeting for the first time, yesterday!”
“I did know you when we were younger. I left here yesterday, and went back and asked around. There weren’t many people that remembered you. But there were a few.”
You felt your breath get shallow, “I-Is Steph…?”
Ari shook his head, “No. She doesn’t even know about us. Most people don’t.”
“Us. So you’re… wait. What are you?”
“An alpha.”
“Okay, so you’re an alpha. Like my father was?” Ari nodded, “yeah. I took over for my father.”
“A-Are there female alpha’s?”
“Not biologically, but you can have an Omega in an ‘Alpha’ position. If he passes away, she would be his successor. Unless they have a son who’s of age.”
You leaned your head back against the back of the couch. “This is hurting my head.”
Ari sympathetically smiled, “it can be a lot.”
“So, I stop taking the blockers, and I’ll become that.. And if I continue taking it, it’ll continue to suppress that…?” You closed your eyes.
Ari nodded, “yeah.”
“I’m sorry to bother you with all of this.. I’m sure you didn’t sign up for it.”
“You don’t owe any apologies. It’s entirely your choice.”
“Wait. You said an Omega can be put into an Alpha position. So, that means that Alpha’s and Omega’s are fated to be together?”
“Most of the time, sometimes you have situations like your parents. Where the Alpha falls for someone outside of the circle.”
“So doesn’t that make me like half?”
Ari chuckled, “it doesn’t work like that. You have more of him in you. You have a scent. So, other Alpha’s and Omega’s can smell that you have a distinction. Normal people don’t have the ability to scent.” “So what do I smell like?”
“Your blockers prevent me from being able to tell you.”
“Oh.”
Ari looked at you, waiting to hear what you wanted to say.
“I don’t know what to do here…”
“You do what you feel is right, sunshine.”
“Okay…”
“Do you have any other questions for me?”
You shook your head, Ari nodded, “Alright, I’m gonna head out. If you think of anything you know where to find me.” He stood.
“Thanks again, for everything.” You whispered and looked up at him.
“My pleasure, sweetheart.” Ari smiled, before leaving you all alone with your thoughts.
It had been three weeks, three whole weeks without contacting Ari, and you had no intention of changing that. You had stopped taking the medication two weeks ago, and nothing had changed. You assumed maybe you were more like your mother than he thought. The thought of never speaking to Ari crosses your mind.
Why does that thought make your stomach twist uncomfortably? You shake your head, walking up to your front door. “Foolish” you whisper walking into the house after your work day. Finally, being back within your space just made you tired, and sluggish. You kicked off your sneakers and climbed into your bed to take a nap. Allowing your eyes to close, you almost immediately fall into a deep sleep.
You wake the next morning, to intense discomfort in your stomach. Thinking it was just a cramp, you attempt to sit up. Only to cry out and clutch your stomach. Laying back down, you reach over for your phone, and call out of work. No way you were going in, until you figured out what it was that was plaguing you.
It didn’t feel like a typical period, but it also didn’t feel like a typical cold or flu either. The insistent throbbing was intense, and only increased anytime you moved, no matter how little the movement.
Within a matter of an hour, you were in tears; the pain was so intense. Your hair was sticking to your forehead, and your neck. Your body burned, but the fan in your room was doing nothing to cool you off. Every feeling was worse. Your body ached.
Your phone chimed and you answered on instinct. “H-Hello?” You choked out.
“What’s wrong?” Stephanie asked.
“I just feel like shit.” You spoke, tears cascading down your cheeks.
“I’m coming over! I’ll bring soup, and some other things! Okay? What are your symptoms? Maybe I can bring some medication!”
You shook your head, “No. Steph, please. I don’t want any of that, I’m fine. I’m sure it’ll be over soon. I would really rather be alone.” You closed your eyes.
“No, I’m not leaving you to fight this on your own. C’mon. Please!” She begged.
“No, no. Really, I’m okay!” You insisted.
Stephanie sighed, but ultimately stayed silent. You knew she was debating going against your wishes. “I promise I’m okay. I’ll be alright.” You said.
She sighed once again, before conceding. “Okay. Okay, but if you don’t call me in a couple hours and let me know how you are, I’m coming over.” She sternly said.
“I will! I promise! Thank you!” You called, before hanging up.
Another hour, and the body aches grew worse, so did your body heat. You couldn’t sleep, because of the discomfort. You couldn’t hear him, didn’t hear the spare key unlocking the door, didn’t hear him call your name. You didn’t see him, but there he was knocking on the bedroom door, and softly calling your name. Letting out a sob, he let himself in the room. “Hey sunshine.” He called, immediately the air in the room changed.
“Go away” You whined, body twisting in the sheets to face away from him, though it hurt.
“I brought you a couple things. Steph told me where to find the spare key, and said you were sick. Given the events, I knew the truth.” He talked calmly, walking towards the bed.
“No. I don’t want it.” Your voice muffled by the pillow.
“Just some basic comfort items. A couple different blankets, I wasn’t sure which ones were your favorites. I brought some different teas, some different little snacks, but again I’m not sure exactly what you like, and some different shirts, of mine.” “Why would I want your shirts? Why would I want anything from you?” “Are you going to continue to be aggressive? Or do you want to figure this out?”
“Don’t. What do you know? What aren’t you telling me?”
“Sunshine, I really need you to calm down, and not freak out on me. Can we do that?” There was this distinction, this deep timbre of his voice, that wasn’t there before, and you found yourself relaxing against the sheets.
“How did you do that?” The ache had dulled, if only slightly, “Ari, what just happened?”
Ari chuckled, hand splaying across your back, gently rubbing, “can you turn towards me?”
You pouted, and turned your head to face him. “Oh, baby.” Ari pouted back at you. He set the bag down beside him, and moved in closer. Getting in the bed and gently picking you up, and settling you down on his chest. You were immediately surrounded by an outdoorsy scent. Pine was the immediate scent your nose caught. But what was more important, your body relaxed further into him. “It’s called a purr. An alpha pur. It’s got this ability to settle almost anyone like us.”
“No. No. I don’t wanna talk about this. I don’t wanna hear this.” Whining, you pushed off his chest. Ari didn’t let you get far, locking his hands around your back.
“This is who you are, sunshine.”
“No. No, this is who YOU are. This is who my dad was. But it’s not me. It can’t be me.” Your voice cracked. “Easy, honey. I know this is overwhelming, how can I make it better? Tell me what you need, yeah?”
“Nothing. You can’t make it better, it’s just a stupid flu, it’ll be over soon, and then I won’t ever have to see you again.”
“Why do you wanna get rid of me so fast?” Ari pouted, and you had this sudden urge to take everything you said back, to console him.
“What is happening to me?” You whispered, more so speaking to yourself than anything.
Ari brushes your hair back behind your shoulder. “You know what’s happening.” “No! Let me go. Get out of my house. Leave me alone.”
“Baby. Take a breath for me.”
“Stop doing that!”
“No.” Ari turns, pinning you to the mattress. “Now, I’ve been trying to give you space to hopefully come to terms with what you are. With who you are. But you don’t wanna do that, huh baby? So, here’s what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna talk this out. You’re going to have to grasp this. Your mother knew,” he said leaning down, running his nose down your throat, before straightening out again, “why do you think she wanted to hide it?”
“No! No, you don’t get to talk about them.” Your head tilted gently. “Please,” You whispered.
“C’mon honey. Do you need me to spell it out for you?”
Your hands gripped at his shirt, suddenly the idea of him walking away terrified you. “Ari. I-I don’t.. Please.”
“Use your words baby.”
“All I have is what you’ve told me.” Ari chuckled, “So use what I’ve told you. Use your brain. Ask me what you need to know.”
You rolled your eyes, “I’m glad you’re having such a good time with my misery.”
“No, no, hang on-”
“I didn’t want to ask you. I still don’t. I didn’t want to talk to you, or see you. But, here you are.”
Ari raised his eyebrows.
“What’s happening to me?” You whispered.
“You’re in heat. Or entering your heat. Your first one, because of the medication, so it’s intense.”
“So what does that mean for me?”
“That you need to stay home.”
“No. I can’t. I have to work, Ari.”
“I know, but you’re changing. You’re sensitive, both your body and your mind. To be honest with you, you’re going to be in pain and you’re going to be insanely horny, but simply fucking won’t do it for you,” Your eyes widened, “Anyone within our delegation will be able to smell you. Remember? You’ll lead them right to you. Thing is, an omega in heat is so very tempting. It’ll get worse if they can’t see or smell an alpha on you. You’ll be their number one target. So please, just stay home.”
“Why? Do you want me for yourself or something?”
Ari chuckled, “as tempting as that is. I want you to have the choice. They won’t hesitate to take you. Especially if no one has claimed you for lack of a better term.”
Your breath hitched, “how are you able to do it?”
“Do what, honey?”
“Resist. If I’m… unclaimed. That means it has an effect on you too…”
“Like I said, I want it to be your choice. It absolutely affects me. But I need you to come to terms with things before anything gets put on you. This, like everything else, needs to be your choice.”
You bit your lip, considering your next words carefully. “What if I asked you to.”
You swore you could see Ari’s brain short circuit for a moment. “No. Not until you know what that means.”
“So what?” You huff, “You’re gonna sit here and tell me that the only possible way that I can get rid of the pain is if I have someone fuck me. But you won’t help me out with that?!”
“I already told you. It’s not just fucking. Heats and ruts are similar. The same properties, just ruts are typical of a male. Men are often better at keeping their composure as pain is ripping through them. For you, the pain stops when you’re given what’s called a knot.” Ari hummed.
“So nothing else will work. Got it. But, if I can’t go out, how am I supposed to get anything done?”
“I’ll take care of you. I’ll be around, doing basic chores for you. That’s what the shirts are for. If someone does happen to smell you, they’ll smell me. They’ll think you’re claimed, so they won’t touch you.” “So you do have ulterior motives then.” You bit your lip again.
Ari merely stared at you, “I’ve already answered that.”
You pouted, “I was trying to be funny.”
Ari rolled his eyes, and grabbed the plastic bag, setting it on the bed beside you. “Here. I’m gonna go make you some food. Okay?” You nodded, “Any requests?” He asked.
You thought for a moment. “Grilled cheese and tomato soup?” You asked.
Ari grinned, “Coming right up. I’ll be back.”
You watched him walk out of the room, and smiled. You had no idea why you were smiling, but the idea of making Ari smile made you very happy.
You slowly sat up despite the discomfort, and emptied the bag in front of you. All of a sudden, you were enveloped in the same scent that you smelt when you were so close to Ari. You decided that you enjoyed it.
Carefully ripping open one of the blankets, that were softer than anything you ever owned before, you laid it out on the bed. Adding one of Ari’s shirts, it was very comfy, and you felt pride swell in your chest. Settling back under the covers, you were reminded of the pain. Doubling over, you whined. It wasn’t as bad as before, but it was still bad.
Ari came back shortly after with your soup, and sandwich. He smiled widely when he entered, seeing you laying in amongst the blankets and various shirts he brought. Letting out a soft “Here.” as he got closer.
“Well look at you” he said as he kneeled by the bed.
“What?” You asked, taking a bite of the sandwich.
“You’re already nesting.” He smiled.
You frowned, swallowing the bite. “Is that a bad thing?”
Ari shook his head, “No, Honey. It’s a good thing. It’ll keep you as comfortable as possible.”
You nodded, “I liked it better when you were in here with me.” You said, taking another bite, before your eyes widened. “Wait. I-I didn’t… I wasn’t supposed to say that out loud.” You rushed to swallow the bite before looking over at Ari.
Ari laughed, full belly laughed, your face heated as your gaze settled on the sandwich. “‘S okay, Sunshine. You’re gonna be a little more direct now.”
You shook your head, but didn’t say anything. Instead you focused on eating. Ari slowly rose to his feet, and sat down next to you. “This better?”
You could hear the playful lilt to his voice, but it still didn’t help the heat in your face. You were mortified. His hand settled along your back. It stayed like that for a while, you eating with Ari rubbing your back in slow circles. It really did feel nice to have him so close.
As he stood to leave, he grabbed your plate. “Wait.” you looked up at him, “before, I-I asked you what I smelt like. You couldn’t tell me… You smell different, so does that mean I do too?”
Ari grinned, “You do. You smell like apples and cinnamon.”
You smiled, big and bright. “Will you be back tomorrow?” You asked.
Ari nodded, “Yeah. Try to get some sleep okay.” Ari leaned down, gently kissing your forehead before walking out.
You heard him rustling around, before ultimately leaving for the night. Surprisingly, it didn’t take you much to fall asleep that night.
True to his word, Ari came back the following day. The only indication being you could hear him rattling around in the kitchen. Slowly getting out of bed, you were met with the lovely sight of Ari cleaning your kitchen, shirtless.
You cleared your throat, attempting to look anywhere but at him as he turned around. “G’morning sleepyhead. I brought you a coffee, but I wasn’t sure what you took in it, so there’s creamer, milk and sugar in the bag on the table.”
“Thanks.” You said slowly walking over to the table, grabbing the coffee.
“How’re you feeling?” Ari crossed his arms across his chest and leaned against the counter.
You felt your mouth dry, “uh… Is there a way I’m supposed to feel? I feel like shit.” Glancing up at him, you felt the air drain from your lungs.
Ari chuckled, “Par for the course. Maybe a shower would make you feel better?”
“Can a shower get rid of this itching in my bones?” You quipped.
Ari laughed, “No, but it can help with the stickiness, and sweat.”
You rolled your eyes before walking out to the shower.
You turned the water on, as hot as you can stand it, before stepping in. You stood under the cascading water, allowing it to, at the very least, relax the tense muscles. You opted to just give your body a quick wash.
You did have to admit, you felt better, still not the best, but getting there. You noted as you stepped out, and dried yourself off, wrapping the towel around your body afterwards.
Walking to the door you opened it, and found yourself face to face with Ari, who had his hand raised as if he was going to knock. “Hi.” You whispered. Ari cleared his throat as his eyes took in your lack of clothing. His eyes snapped up to your face, before he moved out of the way.
You frowned, before walking back into your room, Ari following.
“You’re killing me, you know that?” Ari paced the space.
You pouted, “I didn’t even do anything.”
“You did! You come out in a fucking towel, after asking me yesterday to fuck you.” Ari growled.
“You said no. Has that answer changed?” You watched him, before, “Ari. You’re going to burn a hole in the carpet.” You attempted to make light of the situation.
Ari groaned, glancing at you. His eyes cascaded down your body, before snapping back to your face. “Fuck.” He muttered, dragging a hand down his face.
“Please” You whispered into the room.
“Sunshine, you have no idea what you’re asking for.”
“I do. I want it. I want you. Please.”
“Sweetheart.”
You nodded, “Please. Ari, please.” You whined.
“You sound so sweet when you’re begging, baby.”
Your face heated, putting your hands in front of your face.
“No. No. None of that” Ari chastised, walking to you, and pulling your hands from your face. “Let me see you. Do you want it? Take it off for me baby.”
Ari moved to sit back on the bed, to give you enough space. You gulped and lifted the towel from your body. Tossing it gently to the floor. Your eyes never left Ari, as he bit his lip, and groaned, throwing his head back. “You don’t even realize what you’re doing.” You moved to sit somewhat beside him.
You pouted as he looked back at you. “In a good way, baby. A very good way.” Ari smirked, crawling towards you. “Lay back for me.”
You hesitated just for a moment, before laying back against the pillows, looking down the length of your body at Ari. He followed, stretching out over you “Such a good girl. Look at you.”
You pouted, reaching forward and pulling on his belt loops. “You’re not being fair.” Ari grinned back, pulling his pants off.
This time, you didn’t stop yourself from shamelessly ogling. Carefully, he laid down, draping his body over yours. “Is that better, baby?” You could only nod dumbly, encased entirely in Ari’s scent. “What do you want?” he leaned down, running his nose over your throat, before leaving gentle kisses up the length.
You let out a shuddering breath. “Why do you keep doing that?”
Ari chuckled. “Number 1 reason? You smell so fucking good. Number 2,” he brought his hand up, and gently pressed against the side of your neck, “right here. Is where a specific gland is located. It's called the mating gland. Biting it, essentially marks you as mine. Forever.”
Gasping, you tilt your head just slightly, but Ari tracks the movement. “You want that baby? Want me to mark you. Make you mine.”
You whined, “please” lifting your hips, you unintentionally grind down on Ari’s cock.
“Jesus, Fuck.” Ari’s head fell forward, catching on your shoulder.
You squeaked, “sorry.”
He leaned back up, gently brushing his lips against yours. “Don’t tease.” You whispered.
Ari let out a noise that was somewhere between a laugh and a moan before surging forward and kissing you. It was as if nothing else mattered to him, like he’d been possessed and had to have you.
He tasted like coffee, with a slight undertone that was unique to him. You could feel the movements of Ari pulling his briefs off, before his hand settled on your hip, as his tongue laved against your bottom lip. Your arms had come up settling against his shoulders, as one of your hands weaved itself into his hair. Ari moaned, pressing his hips down into yours.
Gasping, you pulled away breathless. You whined his name. Ari grunted in return, “I know, baby, I know. Gonna give it to you, yeah? ‘S that what you want, pretty girl?” He remarked, lifting himself with one hand, before his other went to his cock.
Glancing down your body, with a muddled, “You’re gonna be the death of me baby. Fucking hell.” Ari gave himself a couple strokes, before gently lining himself up. “Ready?”
“Please, Ari, please.” You babbled. Your eyes widened, letting out an obscenely loud moan as he sank into you.
“Fuck. Shit. Relax, baby, you gotta relax for me.” Ari gritted out, “Please, fuck, you’re so tight.”
Whining, as he bottomed out. “Jesus.. Gonna move okay honey?”
A plethora of ‘yes’ and ‘please’ left your mouth in a hurry. Moaning as he pulled almost completely out of you, before pushing back in.
Ari set a soft, slow pace, making sure you felt every drag of his cock. You moaned his name, and he locked his eyes onto yours. “That’s it, atta girl. Look at you. My good girl.”
Ari watched as his words lit a fire in your eyes. “Yes, Ari. Please.” You had no clue what you were begging for at this point. But fuck, if he didn’t relish in it.
“There she is. That what you want, Sunshine? You wanna be my good girl?” He grunted out, hips picking up their pace if only slightly.
You nodded shakily, moaning.
“Fuck, you are. Need you to cum baby.” Ari gritted. “Please. Need to feel you cum.”
Whimpering, you could feel it beginning at the base of your spine, like he was in control of everything. Your body could do nothing but succumb to his command.
Your body locked, muscles tight, screaming his name as he bit down against your mating glad, triggering your orgasm.
You could distantly hear Ari chanting, over the dull roar in your ears. “Gonna give it to you, fuck gonna give you everything.” He growled only moments before his own release triggered.
You could only gasp, as you felt the heat, radiating throughout your body. Ari had collapsed on top of you, mindful to not put his entire weight on you.
You played with Ari’s hair as you both came down from your respective highs. “You alright?” Ari questioned, voice soft.
You hummed, “I feel incredible.” You smiled.
“Good. Good. We’re gonna wait a minute, and then we’ll do it all over again, and this time. You’ll bite me.” Ari smirked before flattening his tongue over the spot he bit.
“Oh!” You squeaked, causing Ari to laugh.

I have job ideas already for Steve/Reader in the new omegaverse
Reader I headcanon works in HR or some assistant job at the same company Steve works for. While she’s HR or something like it, Steve works as a graphic designer/artist who creates logos/promos for the company
They arrive at the same time (because they travel together) and end the day leaving together.
Reader’s boss in particular is a giant deuche bag and she often complains about him to the alphas in the bakery but never expects anything to happen. Its only after Steve tries to confront her boss for being a giant asshole that the alphas feel like they have to step in
Bucky & Hal is the first to warn the boss and alpha not to fuck with their omegas, a threat that should be listened to although her boss is a stubborn dick and continues to push the omegas
Their boss doesn’t listen or take what the alphas are threatening seriously until Ari & Curtis show up during her lunch break and put an end to it
I also headcannon that her boss is fired and the replacement is so much better
