For @its-just-a-glitch who asked for 4(T):
There's one spot left on the requests post if anyone wants it :)
EXCERPT: Argey Bargey (Spiderverse, Hobie/Miles, Rated T, Post-BtSV)
The portal spits him out on the waterside, is the only thing Miles can tell for sure, at first. Earth 138 is always a shock to the senses in the first couple minutes, from the colors to the contrasts to the torn paper edges you could see if you focused on your peripheral vision long enough. Pav and he had freaked each other out once by concentrating hard enough on a magazine spread to make out the Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet hidden inside the body of the printed text itself.
The smell and the sound of the water is enough to reassure Miles he’s where he should be, anyway, despite the mist like flecks of paint hanging in the air. He shivers a little in the damp chill and pulls up the messenger on his phone: Hey man, I’m here. Where u at?
Omw mate, stay put, comes the response.
Miles huffs and fires back a kaomoji. Staying put's a solid option, he figures, considering he has basically no idea where he is and can barely see six feet in front of him, even with enhanced senses. He's pretty sure the faint gray gradient up above is the sky, by process of elimination. There's some over-saturated weeds growing through the paving under his feet, and the jagged outline of tall grasses growing along the edge of it. The rippling breadth of the canal is clearish in front of him, but when Miles peers upstream or downstream it recedes into a vague, dark road behind the fog.
Are we really in New London, here? He’s turning a slow circle, squinting in all directions to try to make out any sign of a high-rise or a smoke stack, when his Spidey Sense comes skittering up the knobs of his spine to set his scalp tingling. The hum of what might be an engine follows, steadily growing closer. Miles pushes back his mask and squints in the pertinent direction. He steps closer to the water’s edge, just as a shape becomes visible through the mist, gaining definition as it approaches.
He blinks and the silhouette becomes the nose of a boat. Miles stares as it drifts toward and then past him. There’s spraypaint and … paint-paint in arcing splotches all over the - hull, Miles wants to call it? Flyers are littered across the walls (and roof) of what he figures is the cabin. Someone’s drawn dumb faces in the holes made by the lifebuoys mounted on the sides of the craft. He’s so occupied with trying to take in the whole … thing, that it takes Miles a minute to notice he’s being watched.
Hobie is at the rear of the craft when Miles finally clocks him, one hand on the tiller, the other stuffed into his back pocket. He's wearing a frayed white battle jacket, and the neutral expression of a guy who has no idea he's the coolest thing his friend has seen in the last week.
And it’s been a Week.
He nods, once, eyeing Miles sideways. 'Alright?'
‘Alright,’ Miles parrots, gawking. ‘Sure.’ He shakes his head and jogs forward to keep pace as the craft trundles onward. 'Wow. Shouldn't you have one of those cable knit sweaters and the little, you know,' Miles mimes the shape of a brim, 'Captain's hat on?'
Hobie only looks at him, seemingly impervious to the baiting. He shrugs, finally. 'Yeah, but I flogged them, innit?'
Miles makes a face, and Hobie cracks a smile, at last. 'D'you need permission to board or something?’ he asks, curiously. ‘Or were you plannin' to walk?'
Miles raises his palms. 'I dunno, man, you're the boat guy! Don't you gotta put down the anchor, or blow your horn or something?'
The neutral look returns to Hobie’s face in response, accented with a judgemental tilt. Miles keeps his smile fixed and his pace steady, even as the barge drifts ahead of him. Hobie turns his head slowly, owl-like, to keep him so pinned.
Miles is just starting to worry about losing him to the fog when Hobie reaches for something, still staring, and he jumps when a hollow noise, like a foghorn sized down, bounces off the water and the paving stones under his feet. Something up ahead makes a high, honking complaint and takes off in a flurry of wings; Miles chuffs at the sight of its pale belly and webbed feet passing overhead, barely visible through the mist, and bends his knees to hop aboard.
[TBC]
#fanfic#spiderverse#punkflower#look okay i got anxious about miles not getting to see hobie's place himself in btsv#rumour has it the groups aren't reuniting immediately & since the mileses need bonding time it. kind of scans imo#none of that's confirmed obvs but#naturally my first response was '😭😭 well fuck you i'll write the boat misadventures i want to see in the world then'#asks and things#🎸🌻

Me and accents in ttrpgs is a rough relationship cause I really like trying accents for rolplay sake, but also, I kinda suck at it.
Last time, I tried a russian accent, and by the 4th session, the GM went, "Argei, mate, I love the effort, but I can not understand you for shit."
#trying an italian one for another campaign#perhaps doing one from a language I do know a bit will help

My mom sent me a video of my baby photos with me and my dogs, and I appreciate her love and attempt to show her love. However it is the most ARGey BS, with heavily artifacted muzak and everything. Also it's apparently been made by Facebook features, so NVM we are living in an ARG.

would you consider doing a 7 sentence fic extending the #Witch Sansa AU? I reread it all the time i love it!
The ladies of a brothel in the Riverlands treat her like a goddess. They leave her offerings - ribbons, hair pins, silk slippers - and though Sansa doesn’t wear them, she takes them because she knows they want to thank her for keeping those who would harm them from darkening their doorway. Sometimes Sansa brings them orphaned children, women without husbands, and asks that they be housed there, and though it loses them money, the old woman who owns the brothel takes them in because the Wolf Witch asked.
One day she is about to take flight and return to Nymeria when a little girl catches the end of her cloak. She doesn’t look older than five, a tiny thing with a dirty face, but her voice is strong when she speaks.
“Can you bring my mama and papa back?”
Sansa doesn’t know how to tell her that she doesn’t have that sort of power, that she’s killed so many terrible people because she cannot bring back her own mother and father, that nothing she has done will ever make the ache in her chest abate, so instead she kisses her forehead and wishes she could be more than a disappointment.

gisele and y'shtola, witch hazel?
Gisele was trembling, but the palsy in her weary limbs was the furthest thing from her racing mind. Only stricken Ysayle, silent and still in her arms, warmth leeching from her body, and Shiva’s resplendent song grown soft and faded. Gisele held her tighter, her mouth dry with fear, then—
“Gisele!”
It was Y’shtola’s voice, stern and calm, which snapped her out of the panic of despair. She remembered then where they were; the humming of the engines filled her ears, the scent of burning munitions smoke caused her to choke, the rush of wind in a gust of speed. Solid wood beneath her feet.
Ysayle’s pallid fingers still clutched the Crystal, though its aether was near spent. Gisele pressed a gentle, far darker pair of her own to Ysayle’s neck.A thread of life yet remained, though frayed, and near severed; Ysayle yet lived, if barely, and could be saved. But not even Gisele’s prodigious stores of aether were enough to revive her ill-fated companion; it was all she could do to shield her from the onslaught of a Garlean dreadnought, and that took Minfilia’s aid. The Dreadwyrm Trance had taken everything from her, and she had so little to give to Ysayle.
Ysayle, who would have given everything to see her saved, if even her life.
Tears fell from Gisele’s blurred eyes, splashing upon Ysayle’s alabaster cheeks, though it was not grief so much as frustration, and a powerful anger. She was the Warrior of Light, was she not? Why could she not do this one simple thing on her own?But she was not alone; she saw Y’shtola kneeling beside her.
Y’shtola, who said nothing, but merely nodded to Gisele, her enigmatic smile warm and reassuring, and she reached out a hand to Gisele, grasping it within her own. This was a harsh and mysterious land, this floating Allagan isle, dark and eldritch, but it was no construct; it was land of a surety, aspected to the elements, and rich in aether. Gisele felt rather than heard the gentle whisper, a light breeze at first, fluttering across the crags. She closed her eyes, Y’shtola’s hand her anchor, and she joined her will to the conjurer’s, listening, coaxing in gentleness, the wisdom of A-Towa-Cant her guide as it had been so often, when wielding the White.
And then, in tandem, the Scions made vessels of themselves: vessels of air and light, swirling about fallen Ysayle, filling her with the heat of a summer wind warmed by the sun, replenishing what was lost with the bounty of this strange and inhospitable place, mending flesh, soothing pain.A bit of color returned to Ysayle’s cheeks, and Gisele cried out wordlessly in relief, pulling her stricken comrade into a tight embrace. She was safe. She was hale. Bent, but not broken.
“Shtola,” Gisele whispered, her voice choking on her very name as she gazed up at her sister Scion.
“She is past the worst of it, I believe,” Y’shtola said, “but we can do no more here.”
Gisele nodded, then gazed up at Cid, who had been watching the entire scene unfold with eyes wide in awe. “Master Garlond…we can press no further into Allagan territory with the Excelsior as it is. Is it possible for Ysayle to be ferried back to Ishgard for treatment?”
“You needn’t ask, Gisele,” Cid said. He began giving orders to Biggs and Wedge immediately, while Gisele glanced up at Estinien.
Estinien, who had already placed his fingers to his helmet-sheathed ear, speaking in hushed tones with Ser Aymeric upon linkpearl.
Ysayle stirred a moment; for an all too fleeting moment, Gisele thought she might awaken, might say something—anything—but then she was still once more, and Gisele gently brushed a stray lock of silver hair from her brow, bending down to place a kiss upon it.“Halone keep you, her truest servant,” Gisele murmured softly.
Biggs glanced down at her, hesitant but a moment, but Gisele nodded, and the hulking rogadeyn effortlessly lifted Ysayle from Gisele’s lap with care.“We’ll get her right to the Lord Commander, Mistress Surana. Never you worry. She’ll be right as rain,” Biggs said.
Gisele smiled, with a grateful little nod. “Thank you, Biggs. For everything.”
Y’shtola, Estinien and Alphinaud had already ventured down the gangplank to ground, and waited for her there.“Come, my friend. We’ve an archbishop to hunt—and whatever Garleans yet remain after that performance,” Y’shtola called up to her, smiling rather impishly.
Gisele rose up then, and fingered the ruby crystal on her bracelet; her rapier then, gleaming and sharp, appeared in its scabbard upon her belt, the crystalline focus hung upon the right of her belt. Gisele’s silk-sheathed hand caressed it much like she would a lover.“We most certainly do,” Gisele said, her hand tightening about the ruby crystal as she descended from the airship and crossed the distance to them with purpose.
