ok so I’ve had brain rot for my cookierun oc like soooo bad today so I’m just gonna talk about him now. I wanted to wait till I drew up his ref sheet but I can’t wait so I did a messy doodle on a phone for now so y’all can see what he looks like ( in low quality of course )

Ok so his name is Arctic Owl Cookie ( wip ) and he has the ability to know all of someone’s secrets, desires, regrets, their past, basically everything about them, by making eye contact with them.

Now I know that ability sounds cool but let me tell you the story of how this power ruined his childhood :)

Childhood -

Arctic Owl Cookie was just a little thing when his ability first developed, and he had no control over it. Even if he didn’t intend to use his ability, it would just automatically activate when he made eye contact.

Now he grew up in a village where a large majority of the people there were bad people who did many wrong back in their day. So they flipped their lid when they found out about this ability of his, they were worried their past mistakes, dark secrets, deep regrets etc would be exposed for all to here by this little bird.

So he was forbid from making eye contact. He was ordered since hound to always look at the ground and avoid people’s eyes, therefore stopping his ability from activating.

The kids at school didn’t like him, he looked different and his ability freaked people out.

“ I’d stay away from that kid, I heard if you get on his bad side he’ll spill all your secrets and ruin your life. “

“ Well, I heard that he’ll use what he learns about people as blackmail to make them do his bidding. “

“ He’s seriously so creepy..”

Of course all of this was untrue, but people fear what they do not understand.

After months of staring at the floor, and severe neck pain, he was given a hat to cover his eyes. He would no longer have to stare at the floor, and the hat kept his eyes hidden.

Unfortunately the hat attracted bullies. People would play keep away with it, throwing it like a frisbee, and then panicking when they almost make eye contact with him.

“ AHH! He looked at me !! I almost lost my soul !! “

“ Hurry, cover your eyes, he can’t hurt you if you cover your eyes !! “

As if he was some kind of monster smh 😒

Years pasted with this kind of treatment. It wasn’t just his eyes that people gave him a hard time about. It was his entire being.

Arctic Owl Cookie, as his name implies, is mixed with the dna of an arctic owl after a feather of one got into his dough while he was being baked. And because of this, he doesn’t just look like a bird, but acts like one too.

He likes to stare. A lot. Why have bug owl eyes if you’re not going to use them ? But as you know, he want aloud to stare at people, so he settled for starring at random objects. He can go hours with out blinking, so he can stare for very long periods of time.

“ What is that weirdo doing ? “

“ Staring at a tree again. And he hasn’t blinked in like..an hour. “

“ Jeez he’s such a freak. “

Another bird habit he has picked up is swolow ing food whole rather than chewing. And of course his classmates hated this.

“ Ewww !! Why do you eat like that ? Just chew like a normal cookie, gross !! “

Another habit is chirping and cooing. He really does try to keep it down, but it just slips out. And if he’s feeling a strong emotion, it gets more frequent and aggressive.

“ Will you stop those noises already ? You’re driving me crazy !! “

“ Seriously, stop it. It’s soooo annoying. “

And what kind of owl would he be if he didn’t hoot ? A very deep, loud hoot that always startles people.

“ AHHHHH !!! Why would you do that ?! You scared me you jerk !! “

“ You did that on purpose didn’t you ? Your so mean !! “

And the biggie. The one his classmates, his whole village, even his own parents hate.

Turning his head all the way around.

He didn’t mean to do it. He was just enjoying the annual winter festival held in the center of his village, when he heard someone call him from behind, so he turned to look at them. His head moved.

His body didn’t.

“ OH GOD HE TURNED HIS HEAD BACKWARDS, GROSS GROSS GROSS !!!!! “

“ SEE, I TOLD YOU HE WAS A MONSTER!! “ WHAT KIND OF NORMAL COOKIE CAN DO THAT !! “

“ ITS SO CREEPY, GET HIM AWAY !! MAKE HIM STOP !! “

The entire crowd immediately lost it, running and screaming ensued. Poor little bird just stood there all confused, head still backwards.

It was that day that the village decided to through him out. They were fully convinced he was a monster sent to steal their secrets and expose their past sins.

Even his own parents didn’t want him anymore. His mother wept in his fathers arms, going on about what they could have done to deserve such a son.

He didn’t know where to go, so he just walked. He walked and walked, day after day, night after night. Taking rest in trees and eating fruit he found in the branches.

Fast forward to adulthood, he’s got it figured out, learned how to care for himself, got himself a biwa to pass the time. He soon became quite good at the biwa. Perfect in fact. When all you have to do is play the biwa day faster day for years you get quite good at it.

He traveled to different villages and kingdoms, delighting the people who live their with his music and mysterious presence.

At this point, he was completely hidden from view, a large hat coving his face, never uttering a word. Just arriving, playing his biwa, then making his way to the next place. He left as swiftly as he arrived.

No one knew anything about him, so rumors were destined to spread. At least they were more pleasant then the ones from when he was a boy.

Word on the street was that he was a traveling winter spirit who went from place to place granting good fortune to any place that treated him well. They say if he leaves your village disappointed, you will be cursed with a terrible snow storm for 100 years. And if you treated him well, feed him, offered gifts, listened to his music, you village would be destined to prosper, with wealth and happiness to come.

Word spread fast, and every new place he visited was ready for him. A special stage that was decorated for royalty just for him, a large sum of persimmons, his personal favorite, and large crowds, ready to listen to his songs and grant him praise and gifts so he would leave happy and bless them.

He did leave happy, and it was just a coincidence that every village that treated him well had good luck and fortune for years to come, while villages that treated him poorly were wiped out by a disastrous blizzard the day after he left. He really has nothing to do with that, he promises.

When the Halloween Knight goes missing, misfit hearth witch, Merry Claus (yes, that Claus) must team up with their mercurial steed to find Hallow and save Halloween.

‘Twas the Night of All Hallows and through the Dark Wood All the Creatures Were Stirring as well that they should.

Merry Claus was born a frightening nearly eight weeks early, on what would have been Halloween night if Christmas Town had such. She was very like every other Claus in a hundred generations–face pleasingly round, moon-pale, red-cheeked, and dimpled—and she laughed twice before she ever once cried. Her hair was so wild and wispy that she always needed a cap, but it wasn’t the rainbow-white of new-fallen snow, it was the color of cobwebs and dreams of wood smoke. The shape of her eyes was the same as her father’s, wide and wondering, but they did not twinkle as a good Claus’s should. Instead, they gleamed darkly, deep as a scrying mirror.

In time, Merry grew as plump as her parents, with her father’s strong shoulders and her mother’s broad hands, and she was as ever stalwart, loving, and true. But it became quickly obvious to everyone that she would never be fully happy at the North Pole. The Winter Forest was too quiet. Faced with perpetual hibernation, most creatures had chosen a warmer clime, and Merry, who read every wildlife book she could find, loved every creature, great and small, beautiful and terrible. So much so that she was lonely for them. She tried making friends among the arctic creatures, but they were shy or more solitary even than she. And after the incident with the polar bear, her poor parents had no choice but to keep her close to home, which meant she had only the reindeer, and the chickens, and her mother’s two turtle doves.

None of whom wanted to abscond on fright-night adventures with the young cobweb-haired witch of Christmas Town.

Merry did her best to fit in, though that was never demanded of her. No Santa worth his snow, her father always said, would repeat the mistakes of Rudolph’s. Still, Merry didn’t mind wearing the family’s traditional red. It was as dramatic as any vampire cape and layered well with autumn plaids. And she shared her mother’s love of baking, of cinnamon and spice. No one ever complained that she added pumpkin to every recipe, or carved spooky silhouettes into her pie crusts.

When the elves baked Winter Solstice cookies, Merry iced the stars in orange, the moon in harvest yellow with black shadows flying before it: witches and bats, ravens and owls. The elves laughed good-naturedly, asked if she had gotten lost, but her parents would not let anyone correct her.

“That would imply,” said Father Christmas sternly, “that she had done anything wrong.”

But Merry would realize that she was different, even if different didn’t mean wrong.

Arctic Owl is the sole survivor of his village after it was destroyed by Burning Spice. They did him a favor exiling him when he was younger, they saved him from the crazy red man lol

Would it feel bad to say he didn’t care ? They wanted him gone so why should he care that they’re gone ?

What did upset him was when a village that belonged to chocolate flavored cookies was destroyed by Burning Spice. That village was so kind to him and treated him like their own. There was a young girl named Choco Sauce cookie that he became attached to and saw as a younger sister. She was so nice to him, she didn’t treat him like he was different of better than everyone else. She wasn’t afraid of him or put him on a pedestal like everyone else. She treated him like an equal. She loved his biwa music dearly, and would always do a dance with her fans whenever he visited the village to play. She loved when he let her wear his hat or take her flying through the skies. She adored him like a dear big brother and he felt the same. She was the only person he met that felt like family. ( this doodle is more messy and her design isn’t final yet but take this for now )

So when he visited the village after a long while only to find a flaming pile of destruction, the only thing left of Choco Sauce a smoldering scrap of one of her fans, he felt nothing but pure hatred towards the fallen hero. He celebrated the day the beast was locked away in the silver tree, and now that Burning Spice is free, he’s going to take this opportunity to make him suffer :)

He’s going to make that red beast wish he destroyed Arctic Owl along with the rest of his village. Arctic Owl wants nothing more than to freeze the flaming monster to his core, freeze him so cold he becomes an ice sculpture not even his heat can melt ;)

Of course he has to get into his kingdom first. He’ll get in one day.

I do from about November to the middle of January. The cold is nostalgic and wrapped up in memories of the holidays. But I am really negatively impacted by the dark, and I always feel a lot better once the days get longer again.

cuddles - how you like to stay warm on a cold day?

Baking and cooking are key. Like, cookies and a big roast dinner to warm up the home. A bath is also really nice, straight into a warmed towel, and straight into warm pajamas and bed.

glow - early bird or night owl?

I like waking up early. Drinking coffee. Getting into tasks right away. I run out of steam quickly, though, and I’m pretty ineffective until about 5. I got to bed around 11 usually.

Kimiko Yukihira 🍳

Kimiko has her own little radio in her room and this radio is pretty much her main source of exposure to music. She therefore listens to a lot of Pop and is especially fond of the upbeat kind. Thanks to the men in her family she has been introduced to various Rock or more Alternative songs as well though. 

Favorite Artists: I feel she’d like Owl City & possibly also Paramore

Hiroshi Aldini-Tadokoro ⚓️

Hiroshi listens to soft things that ease him down. His playlist is full of cute, soft-sounding pop songs and acoustic stuff.

Mika Aldini ☀️

As an avid dancer, Mika mainly listens to songs that you can also dance to. So her playlists mainly consist of very fast-paced, exciting songs. Her favorite Genre is Latin-Pop, but she listens to a lot of regular Pop as well (as long as it’s good for dancing). She also does enjoy some Reggae once in a while, especially if she does feels like relaxing.

Kaori Hayama 💐

Kaori listens majorly to Soul, R&B & Blues. She considers it very relaxing and she does mainly listen to music in order to relax. Kaori does also have a little soft spot for a lot of older jazzy tunes from her mother’s favorite movies.

Lola Nakiri 🦊

Lola is Daddy’s little girl when it comes to the matter of music. When Lola Nakiri puts on headphones, she’ll be blasting her ears off with Rock & Heavy Metal. She’s also known to have a rather impressive collection of band T-shirts. She can find some appreciation in the sassy Pop her mom listens to, but ultimately Rock & Metal is where her heart is. 

Favorite Artists: Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin I guess. And probably another Metal Band. I sadly only know a few and only by name because I do not listen to Metal, ever. 

Mona Nakiri 🐺

Techno. Mona walks around with her headphones a lot more than Lola does and what she listens to is all sorts of Techno sub-genres and House, with a good number of  Remixes in-between.

Takayuki Hojo 💥

Takayuki listens to Rock like the tough cookie he is. Should he ever listen to anything that isn’t Rock, his father or Suzume most likely made him listen to it. His two favorite songs of all time are “T.N.T” by AC/DC & “Eye Of The Tiger” by Survivor (Takayuki loves the Rocky movies)

Favorite Artists: As long as it’s Rock he doesn’t care who sings. Okay but he is pretty fond of AC/DC and Guns n’ Roses

Kazuo Mimasaka 💕

My boy Kazuo surely has one big playlist that is filled with nothing but the most sappiest and emotional love-ballads imaginable. And I don’t even want to think about how long it would be. Kazuo can listen to almost anything, the exception being Hardcore Gangster Rap, but what he listens to privately is...yeah, Ballads. 

Favorite Artists: Lionel Richie & Celine Dion are the first names to come to my mind. “My Heart Will Go On” is at the very top of Kazuo’s playlist

Yasu Ibusaki 🌲

Shun passed his liking for Rock down to Yasu. When growing older, Yasu additionally also developed a love for all things Indie & Folkish. Has been called a Hipster for his music taste more than once by Hideyoshi.

Chieko Marui 📚

Chieko does listen to a lot of LoFi or Movie/Video Game Soundtracks for studying and relaxation. Her favorite movie soundtrack is that of “The Theory of Everything”. However, when it comes to casual listening her mother got her into Pop. And also thanks to her father, Chieko kinda became accustomed to Pop from all decades. She majorly listens to all sorts off love songs. 

Favorite Artists: TAYLOR SWIFT, Chieko is a confirmed Swiftie. Also really likes Britney Spears tho I feel. 

Hideyoshi Kawashima 🎤

Hideyoshi listens mainly to things you can #party to. Out of all the characters he’s the one who keeps up with the charts the most. Likes Pop and also K-Pop! His dad did successfully get him into some HipHop as well though. Hideyoshi also has a secret soft spot for the boybands of the 90s.

Daisuke Aoki 🎸

Daisuke is our Retro-Kid. His music libraries is mostly 80s and 70s, with some songs of the 50s and 60s that his father likes in-between. Is usually the last one in Polar Star to discover the newest hit in the charts, because he’s too busy bopping to the past. Lea can relate.

Hiraku Yukihira 🐙

Hiraku likes the modern Rock from the 2000s and 2010s. Occasionally he will stumble over something in the Indie and Alternative department and then be real proud over being the only one who knows a particular song.

Akio Hayama 🌱

The same as Kaori. This is a thing they have in common, they both do enjoy the same music pretty much. Though I can picture Akio liking some Reggae once in a while in addition. Also just a few days ago, I established that he’s a secret theatre kid who also listens to a lot of Show Tunes.

Suzume Hojo 🔥

Out of all the characters in the cast, I’d say that Suzume probably has the broadest music taste. She is capable of enjoying a lot of stuff. Being the Meme-Lord that Suzume is, she does love to put on some Meme- and Guilty Pleasure songs. Though of course, there is irony playing into that enjoyment. When it comes to the songs she enjoy unironically, they’re mostly very fast-paced and energetic. I guess you could say her favorite genre is bouncy pop of all decades. Her favorite song of all time would be “Girls just want to have fun”. 

Favorite Artists: Lizzo, Beyoncé and Cindy Lauper. 

Shigeo Eizan 💎

Jazz is Love. Jazz is Life. Shigeo listens to Jazz ahdhd. A lot. He basically always has Jazz going on in the background when he’s working. When he finds the time to listen more attentively, he loves listening to Swing the most. 

Favorite Artists: Frank Sinatra. Also likes Michael Bublé tho I feel. 

Noboru Shinomiya 🍂

Noboru loves nothing more than his collection of classic French Chansons. It’s what he listens to on his long autumn walks through Paris and it makes him happy and content. He also does like the Enka-songs his mother enjoys though.

Favorite Artists: Joe Dassin and Édith Piaf

Kiyoko Saito 🌸

Kiyoko really loves Classical Japanese music a lot but she only really does listen to it on special occassions. She does also enjoy a lot of modern Pop and also K-Pop as well though and she really loves to put it on whenever she dresses up, paints her nails... etc. (Also I can see her being into Vocaloid tbh). 

Favorite Artists: BLACKPINK. I can also see her liking Ariana Grande

Masashi Eizan 🍜

Okay this is our true Classic-Fanatic. All of Nene’s efforts to bring Masashi to operas, ballets and just plain classical concerts have paid off. Masashi listens majorly to Classical Japanese music or Western Classical music. He also does really like Enka. 

Favorite Artist: His favorite Western composer is Beethoven, I haven’t figured out anything else yet. 

Ran Mimasaka 🖋

Ran listens to a lot of operas actually ahdh because, well, she likes operas. Aside from that, she does also enjoy Rock and ChillHop though shdhf. To some this might be a weird combo, but it do be like that sometimes.

Raspberry-favorite flower: carnations might be my favorite, but I love all flowers tbh ^^ sunflowers and roses are also up there. But honestly I really love all flowers bc I just love flowers in general ^^ (I have some carnations in my room rn in fact! ^^)

Cranberry-favorite time of day: I like nighttime because the world feels much quieter and closer and safer. Not to mention the cooler, fresher air, and the stars. And the dark is more comforting, don't you think? I do love early morning too though, for similar reasons, and I love watching the sun rise and how the world is still asleep before it comes up. But I'm too much of a night owl to ever get to see it much x3

Tangelo-which mythical creature would you be: ooh theres so many!! Probably a hippogriff though x3 harry potter introduced me to them and I immediately fell in love with buckbeak x3 and his scene in he movie is just magical. But like, you're a horse and an eagle and you can fly, how cool is that?!?!  hmmm...a dragon would probably be a close second..

Star fruit-favorite sea creature: that one is actually easy for me to answer for once x3 a resounding BELUGA WHALE is my answer!!! ^^ I've loved them ever since I first saw them as a wee one. They're so soft and chubby and sweet, how could you not love them? 😭💙 honestly I love all things arctic, the arctic and northern animals have always enchanted me ^^ but beluga whales are my fave and I have a plush one i love with my whole heart ^^  also penguins (if they count) and dolphins!! Such happy little fellows ^^
