i've seen a fair share of posts talking about how the Caitvi scene in episode 8 is both bad rep and bad writing because it's "just fanservice".

first off, with the way us politics is going, that might be the last lesbian scene you see in the next 4 years, so cherish the fact that we're getting some representation.

secondly, looking at this from a writing standpoint, you're just. wrong?

Vi and Caitlyn represent the relationship between Piltover and Zaun.

Vi's oil and water speech illustrates how Zaun will never trust Piltover, and Caitlyn leaving Vi crying on the floor in episode 3 shows how Piltover will always betray Zaun for their own improvement.

Jinx is supposed to be the peacekeeper between the two, except she's not. she's constantly under the belief that she's going to mess it up, and while it's not her fault, in episode 6 it all goes to shit.

so she walks away from them. Vi and Caitlyn are essentially embodiments of the emotions between the two cities, the ones that fuel the cycle of violence, so Jinx is decides to end it by leaving them be.

and would you look at that. Vi did exactly what Jinx told her to- she goes off to be happy with Cait.

the cycle does end, because Vi is (technically) let out of her prison cell, and Caitlyn is leaving Piltover behind instead of digging Zaun into the dirt, hence why she sends all her guards to the Hexgates (aka the biggest piece of progress for Piltover).

and then they fuck. Vi is trusts Caitlyn, Cait trusts her, so they open up to each other.

i get it. i think Season 2 needed a longer run time, as some parts felt rushed or incomplete, and not everybody is comfortable with sex scenes (including me).

but like it's good writing and King Princess is playing so who cares.

The shit with Piltover and Zaun was literally SO FUCKING GARBAGE

The whole “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” shit they tried to do is so fucking nasty cause what the fuck do you mean Piltover literally left Zaun to ROT for years and years and years and then, when they need something they’re like “omg no you guys are our sister city and we need your help 🥺” LIKE DONT PISS ME OFFFFFF

It’s so sick that Zaun was brutalized and hurt by Piltover again and again and again and now, it’s just forgiven? When not even a few months ago, they were literally doing chemical warfare by using the grey?? (idc if they did it to clear out the area that’s like when they used tear gas at riots!!! It still hurts the innocent people!!!)

Like that shit was genuinely so disgusting cause it shows that the hurt always have to be the “bigger person” and have to help and let bygones be bygones while the one doing the hurting continues to just use their power

Like a simple sorry will NEVER fix what Piltover did to Zaun and the fact that they didn’t even get a sorry it was just them being used as pawns again to stop Ambessa (also they fact that just entirely tossed the Piltover and Undercity conflict for Ambessa was so shitty because the whole point of Arcane was revolving around the conflict of the two cities!)

Some things can’t be forgiven and it’s just so frustrating that they tried to do it with Piltover and the Undercity.

(Also a little thing I also wanted to add that the line with Caitlyn and Vi with the “I’m the dirt under your nails” was so fucking weird because Piltover folks LITERALLY SEE ZAUNITES AS DIRT! Like Caitvi y’all cute but Vi STAND UP OMGGGG)

We saw Ekko on the mural in the sneak peek for s2, (because he’s dead or missing???) and it’s speculated that without him the firelights leave to join Jinx. This is Ekko’s future with the firelights leaving him :P

In regards to THAT CaitVi scene

I have just one single small nitpick

This might be controversial but I feel like if they had just added one more line the switch from guilt-induced-breakdown to sesbian-lex might be more natural?

Like Vi just said that she feels her decisions caused her to lose everyone, and I feel like Caitlyn should have at least addressed that first? Instead of jumping into “hey no guards let’s get freaky I planned this”

I think Caitlyn could’ve just added one sentence of “Not everyone.” after Vi said “And because of that, I lost everyone.”

And then after she says “Not everyone.”, then we get to the guards line.

I just think that would’ve made the scene flow more naturally because this is just itching me for some reason.

But also about that ending remember the first rule of watching any show or movie at all?

NO BODY NO DEATHS.
