Small Shelly headcanon

I've seen people in the fandom talk about the very cute sibling-like relationship she has with Titania. (Which it is very cute)

I just have a slight headcanon addition to it.

Hardy takes a look at it, and is like "Fuck it I have a little sister too now."

So Shelly is pleasantly confused when suddenly she also has a Rock-Head (pun intended) big bro out of nowhere. Much to Titania's exasperation.

(Also I just realized how many puns are incorporated into Hardy as a character lol)

so edwin and internalized homophobia right? because it is just internal. he never really shows any issue with homosexuality except when it's towards himself. niko talks about her sexy yaoi manga with him, monty very openly and blatantly flirts with him and he never seems uncomfortable or even shocked or surprised with that. and his discomfort with the cat king's advances are more about his own reactions and feelings as opposed to what the cat king is doing.

so edwin doesn't have a problem with homosexuality. he has a problem with his homosexuality specifically. and i think this is why it was important that he fell in love with charles specifically. because that's what helps him break through the mental block that's upholding the inherent contradiction of his views.

and not in a "romance fixes everything kind of way" but in the sense that. okay. so edwin has always known he's gay. and he's been made to feel that there is something wrong with him for being gay, that him being gay is terrible enough that it's going to get him murdered. but he falls in love with charles. charles who he thinks the world of. and he has always loved charles but now his love has taken on a form that he has been taught is wrong but it's charles and he has to reconcile the idea that either the love he feels for charles is wrong or this fundamental belief that feeling that kind of love at all is wrong. because if he is in love with charles, then how can that be something bad? he has loved charles all this time and it has only ever brought him good things.

which is what makes it important. he didn't need to learn homosexuality isn't wrong. he apparently figured that out all on his own before canon. he needed to learn that his own love and desire is something beautiful and should be celebrated because his relationship with charles is something beautiful and worth celebrating no matter what form it takes.

LSTR-S2301 and the maintenance tunnel ARAR are best friends to me even though that Elster was only on sierpinski for a seemingly brief time, they’re bros who fuck around on the clock during work. I think Elster was probably more willing to put extra time in however she’s also very “okay you’ve given me a list of tasks I did them. They’re done and done well. That’s it, my time now.” Whereas I see Ara being more of a slacker (very valid of her) or at the very least just a bare minimum type of gal when it comes to work.

Idk I tend to imagine them fucking off in the middle of shifts to go find weird lonely corners of sierpinski to hang out in. They don’t even talk half the time but they love it.

I'm currently working on a fanfic in which the mc, an oc of mine, lost a leg in the past. I really hope I can do this that you're mentioning. I've done my best to research the topic (learning things I didn't know about it in general)

But even though he did lose his leg in a traumatic incident I dont think I see Vidar associating the loss of his family with the loss of limb?

Like if I use it for character development. He doesnt hide it due to shame, but out of fear of being vulnerable? That doesnt mean he likes discussing the circumstances of the loss tho lol

Like I see it as a caryy over from his backstory be fore he lost his leg. With him being used to having to carry the weight and seem invincible for the sake of his brother. Involved in an environment (gang) where showing vulnerability meant being taken advantage of.

He got pretty used to the mentality of "me, myself and I" (Pokemon non-withstanding)

So when he stops hiding, it is a sign that he is willing to be more open with people he cares about.

Idk I hope it's a good portrayal of it

you know what i need more of? stories about characters with disabilities where the disability isn’t the root of the angst or the center of trauma.

disabilities aren’t monsters to be fought. they’re real life circumstances that millions of people have, live with and thrive despite of every single day.

i’ve been in a wheelchair my entire life. is it hard sometimes? absolutely. did it take me a long time to accept it and be comfortable with it? you bet, but you know what would have made it easier? seeing stories and characters of people like me who weren’t defined by it. who weren’t made to feel like they were something that needed to be fixed or some kind of heavy burden on the people who they loved.

so when i say i want more stories of people with disabilities, it’s less for me (though i would enjoy them greatly) and more for the people out there still struggling to come to grips with whatever they happen to be dealing with.

they shouldn’t have to see stories where characters like them are viewed as a dull, lackluster, and endlessly miserable people whose loved ones feel trapped by the weight of their burden.

that’s the kind of approach that makes people with disabilities feel like they’re worthless and unlovable.

representation matters, i hear it all the time and believe in it wholeheartedly, this is no different.

let your disabled characters be characters. let them find joy and happiness and normalcy in their own way. let their disability be a character trait, not a demon forever leering over their shoulder.

people with disabilities are just that, people, and we want to live our lives and find the joy in it just like everyone else. the things that make us different aren’t a villain that needs to be slain, they’re simply a part of who we are. let’s embrace that <3

YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT WOULD BE A BANGER OF A CONCEPT FOR RAFAYEL’S 2ND LIMITED MYTH!?

(please, bear with me, I’ll start to make sense at some point, give me a minute)

I feel like if you ask someone what happens at the end of the little mermaid’s tale a lot of people would say “oh, she goes back to the ocean and becomes sea foam” well, that’s right and wrong at the same because the tale doesn’t end there

in hans christian andersen’s version of the tale, the little mermaid in fact goes back to the sea after the prince marries a neighbour kingdom’s princess to wait for her death but her sisters are waiting for her with a dagger given to them by the sea witch, they tell her all she needs to do to get her tail back is stabbing the prince right in the heart (sounds familiar...) and let his blood drop onto her human legs so they would turn back into a mermaid tail (I know, it’s gruesome)

the little mermaid isn’t capable of killing the man she loves so she throws herself into the ocean to die but after her body dissolves into sea foam but she ascends and becomes an air spirit, gaining an eternal soul as she always wanted

now you’re thinking “what does rafayel have to do with this? his myth isn’t a the little mermaid retelling” and you’re right but it’s clear there is some inspiration from the myth, but now talking about something I really think is fascinating about lads is its references to elements of chinese culture, rafayel’s aesthetic is very clearly inspired by dunhuang murals/feitian

fei tian (飞天) is chinese for flying apsara, apsaras are celestial beings from air and water from buddhist culture, there are a lot of murals depicting apsaras in chinese caves, rafayel and mc even visit one of these caves (or at least what supposed to ladsverse version of one) in the wander in wonder event to look at the feitians

also this isn’t me saying “oh, I’m predicting rafayel’s next myth” because I’m not, I’m just throwing random thoughts at the air because I think it would be cool, I don’t even have an image in my head about how I picture a myth with this theme, I know that make it sound like I write all this for nothing (I did) but was just a thought I had stuck in my head for the last 2 hours

Been lurking for a while but this is why I have grown to like the Saphitoria ship because you can see the paralells between the two and where one is better eqquiped to handle some aspects of their own trauma while in others the other can provide insight that they would not have thought about themselves.

Though speaking of Victoria's own grief, while it definetly could have used more expanding. As someone who has lost a parent and an only child one of my favorite accurate parts of her journey is the part where she realizes she never knew Kiki's favorite color or personal story. She was a mother figure to her, but didn't know basic information that one expects to know about those you care about. And how sometimes you have no one to fill those blanks for you anymore. And how to a degree you're the only one carrying the knowledge of a facet of a person. All of the students knew Sensei Kiki, but Victoria was the only one that experiences the parental figure Kiki. And the knowledge that that version of that person begins and ends with you. It's isolating and makes you aware of how much you didn't know about that person now that they're not here to fill in the blanks themselves.

It's also why I have begun to analyze how my own Reborn OC Vidar would get along with them and also understand them, and they in turn him, better than other characters. Since he was also forced to grow up too quick and then grapple with a terrible loss pretty young. I used Vidar and his relationship with them to explore my own thoughts on grief and healing as well as having to be the rock for everyone else while dealing with your own stuff, from personal experience.

so saaad that we don’t see Victoria for ever bc I want to talk to her I want to see her I want to force people to think about her atlas complex which basically puppets her from the inside out and forces her into situations that benefit neither others nor her for how much she is ignoring the core of her being to instead pedestal her ingrained sense of responsibility for burdens that were never hers or never should’ve been dumped on her in the first place & how the way she views herself has turned her from “Victoria” into an avatar of mediation and sensibility that she feels obligated to perpetuate because sh
