Swords, also known as Blades, Spades or Feathers are represented by the Element of Air. Air governs the intellect, logic, reason and communication. Swords personalities have the reputation for consulting their head before their heart in matters as they are extremely mentally disciplined. Air is in constant movement and on a calm day much can be achieved, our thoughts are balanced and under control. When a storm whips up and the Air cannot stay still our thoughts blow this way and that. If they cannot be calmed it will eventually lead to mental stress, depression and insomnia. Our mind with its ideas, concepts, beliefs and attitudes can be our greatest friend and ally or most fearsome enemy.
The Swords Suit is generally associated with conflict, stress and pain. When it comes to the mind and our mentality our thoughts, beliefs and attitudes can inspire us and bring us wonderful positive experiences in life. A balanced open mind with a positive disposition is a brilliant asset but when in a negative psychological state or attitude it can cause much anguish and distress.
Swords deal with how we communicate and express ourselves in the world. Their realm is the power of the spoken and written word so Sword people certainly love to talk and make excellent writers or bloggers.
The Sword types can be extremely witty with a wonderful turn of phrase. They seem to know just the right response to any question or remark thrown their way. They bring the much-needed spark of interesting and fascinating banter to any dinner table. In general they are choosy about the subjects they discuss which usually are of a highly intellectual nature. However there are many Sword types who talk just for talk’s sake. Their mouth will move as fast as their mind, which is usually at a gallop.
Swords people need to rationalise and analyse everything and everyone. They excel in boardroom meetings where their presentations, discussions, debates and suggestions will be hard to match. They come well prepared with everything well thought out in a practical, methodical and logical manner. As an employer they may expect a lot of their staff and allow no room for slacking but they will treat them fairly and equally.
Like the Wands, the Swords people have a lot of energy to expend but whereas the Wands release theirs through physical activity, the Swords energy is generally mental energy and much harder to deal with. If too much energy builds up mental stress and stress related problems or illness can result. The Swords have to guard against this as they can easily get tied up in knots, psychological knots that is.
Swords are also connected and associated with the world of Justice, Law and Order. The double-edged sword affords them the ability to look at both sides of a situation and to keep an open mind in order to reach a fair, logical and rational decision or judgement. Sword personalities can be found frantically pacing the corridors of law courts with bundles of case files under one arm, a mobile phone wedged between neck and ear while rapidly firing instructions down the line to their legal secretary back at base. They make excellent barristers and solicitors with their razor-sharp minds going into battle defending and prosecuting to their heart’s content. Quick to spot any chinks in their opponents armour they will move in for the kill, their eloquent and precisely calculated words hitting the mark with a transfixed and mesmerised jury.
As Judges presiding over the courts they take their job very seriously indeed. They will carefully listen to the argument on both sides before reaching a decision. They believe in honesty, integrity and an ordered society. Having the reputation for being emotionally detached whenever they choose to, no amount of sobbing or begging from the criminal in the dock will make a bit of difference. They also make excellent police officers and detectives using their analytical minds to solve crimes. You will also find them in forensic labs painstakingly cross referencing minute hair or fibre samples for evidence. Without the Swords people keeping us in check and disciplining our bad behaviour the world would be even more dangerous and chaotic than it already is.
Generally brilliant academics, the Swords type will rarely be found anywhere except top of the class and quite often teaching the class. Politics is another favourite with the Swords type whether they are directly involved in it or just talking about it. Any profession were they can use their mind is essential and any career where there is a lot of talking is popular such as chat show hosts or Disc Jockeying. They are also drawn to careers in science and psychology. They make excellent writers but generally of a non-fictional nature.
In relationships they lack the excitement of the Wands and the emotions of the Cups. However, they have a habit of being drawn to their partner for their personality and ability to hold an interesting and intellectual conversation instead of for their looks. They tend to choose like-minded people as partners. As a couple they may appear quite serious and unapproachable. If a relationship is not working out for them or if their partner has done something wrong they do have the ability to take their sword out and literally overnight sever all contact for good. They do like their own company and can live alone quite happily once they have a good book close to hand (non-fiction that is) and a copy of the financial times nearby. Any political questions and answers programme will have them riveted. Not the type for soap operas and trite movies they prefer historical and factual documentaries.
As parents, Sword types can be strict and formal, harsh disciplinarians or dithering. The positive Swords parent will love their children deeply but will not express it as freely as the Cups parent. They are not terribly comfortable with their emotions. All in all the Swords can be very friendly, great conversationalists at dinner parties and will generally be there for you in a crisis with their level-headed and logical manner saving the day. Great for giving advice, the Swords personality learns much from their direct experience of life. Some of these Lessons can be quite painful as they seem to have the knack of choosing the hardest route to wherever they are going.

A heads up! Later today there is a New Moon at 4 Aquarius electrified by volatile, lightning bolt Uranus. Like a reverberating Singing Bowl, it’s sounding the first crystal clear note of the incoming 2020 – 2043 Aquarian frequency.
In March, Saturn enters Aquarius for the first time since 1991 to destabilise the old order until March 2023 when Pluto crosses the bridge to tomorrow from Capricorn to Aquarius and life will never be the same again.
On the December 21st Solstice this year 2020, Jupiter conjuncts Saturn at 0 Aquarius for the first time in centuries- one of the brightest astrological beacons we’ve had in a long time. Known from ancient times as the Great Chronocation, the 20-year cycle of Jupiter and Saturn is one of the most important markers representing the direction our lives are taking, personally and socially; it sets the tone for the New Order we will all respond to. It is the midnight chime of the Great Bell of Time and Karma.
Meanwhile, as predicted, the epochal scenarios of the Saturn/Pluto Men in Black conjunction roll out relentlessly…. the world shaking politics, the out of control wildfires and flooding and now media hyped fears of a global epidemic infecting our thought stream. In an extremely rare event, today and for the whole of 2020, Pluto squares deep space planet Eris-the Disruptor and Awakener -facing us with hugely inconvenient truths. Remember 2016, when Eris hit Uranus and Trump and Brexit resulted? Now the stakes are higher -this is Eris/ Pluto as subversive, chaotic agents of non-negotiable transformation knocking on your front door.
2020 is a Year for Grace and Grit – for wise hope + fierce grace- for showing up + refusing to feel powerless . Grace and Grit combined is where your perseverance meets your passion. The Amazing Grace of Saturn in Aquarius will restore your spirits with faith, hope and optimism, as long as you stop being hypnotised by the old world burning and radically re-imagine your future. As long as you recognise how you’ve been underestimating yourself and become increasingly self-sustaining.
Grace is freely given favour and mercy, a sense of generosity and kindness, moral strength, a kindness even when it is not deserved. It is a love that keeps on giving; that doesn’t require context or your past. It is undeserved, unmerited, unearned. It always turns heads, drops jaws and leaves people in awe. A reminder that you don’t have to handle this life thing on your own.
Grit determines that life challenges will neither defeat you nor define you. It is the toughness, the courage, the bravery, the spirit deep down in your soul. It is your backbone, your steel nerve and whatever inspires you to keep fighting. Grit is a Creator.

Air Signs - Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius

Each of the air signs signify unique stages of intellectual and social development. Flying high with airy wings harnessed to the mind, Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are spirited, alert, and cerebral. Gemini is the child mind of Mercury, eternally young, free, and cheeky. Libra is middle aged, comfortable, virtuous, socially adept, and enjoying established relationships. Aquarius is the old age wisdom of Saturn. When it’s early in the morning and I hear the birds talking and chirping, enjoying the joy of making sound, I know the air signs have risen. Air is invisible, fluid, flowing, capable of vacating the animal and emotional realm in a moments notice, floating into the air like a balloon. Airy bubbles constantly pop in the mind to reveal new ideas and questions. Air diffuses through each of the elements, so the energy of Air never stops echoing, we have newspapers being typed all night, 24 hour news, a nocturnal social media network. Now we are in the Aquarius Age, it really is a time to be alive for airy people. The information they crave to devour can be accessed within seconds, they can communicate with anybody in an instant through the telepathy of their fingertips, they can share their thoughts with a broader audience than ever. So as we move into the Aquarian Age the qualities and talents of Air become held in esteem, so we will begin moving into the global recognition and awe of brilliant minds, scientists, writers, and thinkers. The Air signs do not utilise emotion as a tool of guidance, this can be their gift and their blind spot. Too often they can respond to emotive events with confusion or disconnection. This ability to ‘disconnect’ also opens the door for free movement of the astral body, so they can think themselves into new states of reality. They can disconnect from their emotional bias to form nonjudgemental and rewarding relationships based on the opportunity to learn and appreciation of different ways of being. Air longs for harmony, but their very nature provokes the opposite. It’s like wind, an invisible force that can erupt so much fury without needing anything physical.
The objective mind of Gemini is capable of finding relationships in everything, a glowing display of synthesis. And their incessant conversation is the band that ties these worlds together as they find answers in everybody. Of course this can be irritating to those who can be frustrated at Gemini’s easy boredom or consuming questioning. But Gemini is that little girl that has just learned how to talk and now even better ask questions. This fascination never really ends. And this inherent fascination in Gemini becomes a fascination with personalities and people in Libra. They are personality profilers and character readers who spend a lot of time people watching and creating background stories for strangers. Gemini needs a relationship with information and energy and things. But Libra desires relationships with people. Libra cultivates law and morality, so the righteous and human aspects of air are especially exemplified as we progress. Their airy talents of communication are harnessed so they can engage with everybody in a non intrusive manner. The translucency of air that allows Gemini to so easily multiply permits Libra to reflect the vibration of people around her so they feel more comfortable. Now the conversation is two sided. And finally in Aquarius the global community is awakened. The conversation is with the whole world. We moved from the law of relationship in Libra, Saturn’s planet of exalt into his own sign of Aquarius. As we share information on the internet, we are tapping into Aquarius energy, the ability to convey information to collective masses. The chatter that began in Gemini becomes a conduit that draws drops of wisdom from heaven, ready to be interpreted and released by Aquarius.
