I want a kid. And I can't physically have one. And in order to adopt I have to be willing to Foster unless I get lucky with private adoption. I am emotionally unable to handle fostering. I know I would not be able to handle loving and caring for a child and then having them taken from me to never see or hear from again. I get attached and deeply emotionally invested in animals quickly. I could not handle it with kids. Because of these reasons. I love being the go to Aunt/babysitter. Not just for my close friends' kids. Who I have taken off work as I am more able to do since I work for my family than my lower income friends can, to watch them. I have taken in another's every weekend starting Friday night to Sunday evening when his father lost visitation and his mom worked retail. Had no back up available when he wasn't legally allowed to see his son via court order during his normal time. I did this for 4 months short notice no qualms. Crazy bastard even tried to break into my house. Still happily stood in on regular for his deadbeat daddy. And going to do it again I'm sure once the CPS investigation is done into his dad currently. Showing up for karate tournaments. Making sure what they wanted for Xmas that their momma's can't afford get bought. (I don't wrap though. You get a bag.) Something is up and you need me to leave work and get the kids. You got it. And for just aquainces I have no trouble babysitting. Lady at works neice and newphew need a sitter. I got you. Oh it's a con weekend you need us. We got costumes for the kids. They are going out on the town and having fun with us. I will add kids to my plans easily. Or we taking kid to con out of state. Little one ain't having fun. Having a tantrum. We just spent 2 hours on the road. 2hours at con. Time to go if they aren't enjoying it too. Don't care it was $100 to get us in and lots of gas. We go home. They might not be "my" kids. But they damn well will be treated like they are my kids.

the thing about millennials who don’t want kids is I feel like a lot of them are deeply On Board for their friends’ kids

like I��m among the minority of my friends in definitely for sure wanting kids someday

but each of my parenthood-eschewing friends has claimed a different role in my future offspring’s life and they seem very excited to play it

so we as a generation may have fewer children

but I feel like they’ll be the most supported and loved children imaginable
