The nightingale movie

But Tara Judah doesn’t stop there: by cutting and pasting snippets from various sources (from interviews with the director to the writings of Levinas), she assembles a short opinion on The Nightingale that is distinctly her own.
#The nightingale movie movie#
The desktop video format is the perfect fit for this kind of online discourse analysis, as it visualizes how a certain take on a movie can quickly proliferate and come to dominate the discussion of that film. We literally watch her (and/or her editor Peter Walsh) google her way through the online coverage of the movie. Judah chooses the format of the desktop documentary to examine the critical response to The Nightingale. The video essay in particular is very interesting. Both that text and video were posted online by Watershed (a film culture and digital media centre in Bristol, UK, which screened Kent’s film in November 2019). “It’s the film’s reception that should be viewed as controversial, not the film itself” – that is the starting point for her article and video essay on the movie. Those extreme reactions then became the focal point of much of the subsequent media coverage of the movie.īut that controversy, writes freelance film critic and cinema producer Tara Judah, is misplaced. The Nightingale brewed up a bit of a storm at several film festivals where it was presented – from walkouts to angry shouting. The period drama centers on a particularly violent episode in Australian history and takes as its protagonist a female convict who has to endure horrific violence herself. Retrieved April 27, 2021.Jennifer Kent’s 2019 feature film The Nightingale was not met with the same near unanimous critical acclaim as her 2014 effort The Babadook.

BLM wants you to let them kill more wild horses
You know what problem @BLMNational has with wild horses? It's not that there are too many horses -- there are -- but that too many horses is not the problem but the result of the problem. The problem is that BLM never has actually managed wild horses on public land, they only cull.  They do it even though the public doesn't want BLM dealing with over-population by treating the horses like crops, weeding out and discarding the excess.  The public doesn't want BLM to chase wild horses with helicopters and ground vehicles, running foals to exhaustion, panicking horses so they crash into barbed wire fences and cut themselves up, forcing them to run with broken legs, packing bands of horses in corrals with horses from other herds, letting them stand around in their own poop getting no exercise for weeks and months before auctioning them off to low bidders for who knows what kind of a life -- or death. This is not management.  It's abuse.   So I say BLM needs to stop abusing wild horses on public lands, and instead come up with an actual humane and effective management plan.  Because, as Albert Einstein famously (never actually) said: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."  And that's what BLM has been doing from the start. PLEASE SEND YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT THE BLM'S PROPOSAL TO USE MOTORIZED VEHICLES, INCLUDING HELICOPTERS, TO "MANAGE" WILD HORSES AND BURROS!!!!  Info below. ___ PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION! ___ BLM schedules public hearing on use of motorized vehicles for wild horse and burro management WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Bureau of Land Management will conduct a virtual public hearing regarding the use of motorized vehicles and aircraft in the management of wild horses and burros. The hearing is scheduled for April 26, 2022 from 3 to 5 p.m. MT and will be held using Zoom video conferencing technology and live-streamed at BLM.gov/live. The Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 requires BLM conduct an annual hearing to consider the use of motorized vehicles in the management of wild horses and burros. The BLM typically uses motorized vehicles to conduct gather operations, complete population surveys, and transport animals to/from corrals, pastures, and adoption, sale and transfer events. To provide comment during the virtual public hearing, members of the public may register in advance by April 25. Written comments may also be sent to [email protected]. Please include ‘‘Motorized Vehicle Comment’’ in the subject line of the email. Comments must be submitted by 5 p.m. Mountain Time on April 26. For additional information regarding the public hearing, please contact the Wild Horse and Burro National Information Center at 866-468-7826 or [email protected]. Individuals who use a telecommunications device for the deaf (TDD) may call the Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) at 711 to reach the National Information Center during normal business hours. Early 2021 Upcoming Game Prospects Overview
Generally speaking, I don't post about random 2D femdom news anymore. But recently, I’ve just felt like talking about how interesting 2021 is looking so far.
Confirmed Games
Incubus Quest, which many people heard of and even played beta versions of years ago, should finally be completed, with voice acting and redone CGs and all the polish it needs, this year. It's been fascinating watching this game evolve over the years. To those not familiar with it, the name makes it sound like a generic monster girl RPG, and it's true that it's an RPG Maker MV game set in a fantasy world... But there's a very strong D/s theme that runs through the game, and the enemies aren't especially monstrous; many are humans. So aesthetically it feels a lot like a traditional BDSM-oriented femdom story. I love the "sex slave system" in which you can raise your loyalty stat with a particular mistress and get her to join your party.
1micron, formerly known as 100KCAL, is at work on their upcoming game called SM Gakuen. To those not familiar with them, they make femdom VNs that are usually a few hours long, with a lot of heavy/brutal fetishes including castration. The plot of this one is that in a near-future femdom society where it's natural for men to serve dominatrixes as slaves, you're a student applying to enter an ojou-sama school, and your entrance exam involves one particular ojou-sama who personally trains you for a week. Anyway, it's close to done; mori needs to hear back from the seiyuu. Hopefully we'll see a release in March or April.
The writer-artist duo behind Herencia's femdom games is back, and now they're employed by Lune. (If you missed the news, Herencia closed down in late 2019.) Their first game at Lune, S Kano, has a premise that somehow reminds me of the recent highly successful game Escalation (even sounding very similar to the name of Escalation's setting’s original name, S na Kanojo) but promises that it's for "soft masochists". While I'm sure that means it won't feature the strict discipline of Escalation or Prison Queendom, I’m still hopeful there will be a few fetishes I enjoy... unfortunately, the current sample CGs depict extremely soft stuff (like, boobjobs and blowjobs without even a femdom atmosphere) so I kind of question whether anyone into femdom will even buy this, unless Lune shows off sample CGs with harder femdom later on. Anyway, the game will be out on March 26.
A VN adaptation of Sakusei Kenkyuusho's famous (I mean that literally... it trended on Twitter; see my News Roundup for the Second Half of 2019 post) CG set series Sakusei Byoutou has been announced this year, too. The production values look decent, but it looks like another writer (not the person behind the 1-man-circle Sakusei Kenkyuusho) is adapting the script from the CG set to the VN, so I'm a little worried that the writing will be somehow ruined. The art looks great, though. That's coming out on April 30. If it sells well, I could easily imagine more Sakusei Kenkyuusho works being adapted into games, or even created as games first... For more info about this game and S Kano, check out the recent posts in mortalvyses's blog.
Games to Hope For
I'm not hopeful for more Msize this year, unfortunately. Last month, Riumu confirmed that he's still working on his next game. However, from the tone of how he talks about it, and the fact he's just doing bits of the scenario here and there, I don't expect him to finish it by this August. In which case, I will probably expect it to come out in August 2022... EMUCUS and Majikoro/Sadistic Alice have also been silent.
But maybe this will be the year of the doskoinpo game... In his first blog post of the year, he said that this year, for sure, he wants to make a game. It's something he has mentioned in the past, even making some simple game screenshot mock-ups, but never talked seriously about. Again, for the record, doskoinpo's art has been in games before, but there's never before been a game that he both drew *and* wrote. We'll have to wait for more info from him about this, because it looks to be still at the conceptual stage... But if he keeps putting out a new manga every month, I'll assume he isn't making time for game development.
I'm hyped for Girl Beats Hero Chapter 3. The epic conclusion of Boko877's previous GBH game, CP2 (aka Chapter 2), showed how Boko's writing ability has grown a lot, and made me excited for what was to come. Boko implied that he'll start development of CP3 after he finishes Selene in UFG2, and he's close to done. Check out how cool Shayna is after she's ignored Auphemia's warning and gotten herself mystic eyes.
Chinbotsu Tower, who's one my favorite pure irojikake artists, has also started working on an RPG.
Side Talk
I've updated my mainstream manga list for the first time in a while to add several new titles.
The anime Redo of Healer features lots of maledom, but almost as much femdom in the flashbacks (because the story premise is that the male protagonist is getting revenge for the femdom). In the past, a villainous princess heaped humiliation upon the protagonist who she forced to become addicted to drugs. You need to watch the ATX version to see the complete explicit scenes (the official subs use the censored video, so use a fansub group like SSA). Check out episode 3 from 3:55 to 6:30 for what's probably the best scene...
I’m about halfway through scanlating a new manga chapter... It’s just something really niche that I’ve wanted to scanlate for more than five years now.
I doubt anybody’s curious, but for the record, I did make a collage for this post... but I decided it was too ugly to use.

GCC News Roundup: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait implement new economic measures (April 1-30)
Tumblr media
By Sumaya Attia Gulf economies struggle as crude futures collapse Gulf debt and equity markets fell on April 21 and the Saudi currency dropped in the forward market, after U.S. crude oil futures collapsed below $0 on a coronavirus-induced supply glut. Saudi Arabia’s central bank foreign reserves fell in March at their fastest rate in at least 20 years and to their lowest since 2011, while the kingdom slipped into a $9 billion budget deficit in the first quarter. GCC countries cut oil production following OPEC+ deal OPEC, Russia and other oil-producing nations on April 12 finalized an unprecedented production cut of nearly 10 million barrels, or a tenth of global supply, in hopes of boosting crashing prices amid the coronavirus pandemic and a price war, officials said. Following the deal, Saudi Arabia announced its official crude pricing (OSP) for May, selling oil more cheaply to Asia while keeping prices flat for Europe and raising them for the United States. Oman has told its oil producing companies to cut 200,000 barrels per day (bpd) starting from May 1 until the end of June in line with OPEC+ crude supply reduction pact and will inform its customers of the same plan, its oil ministry said. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is committed to reducing oil production from its current level of 4.1 million bpd, energy minister Suhail Al Mazrouei said in a tweet on April 12. Kuwait’s oil minister said on April 12 that his country would be cutting more than 1 million bpd in actual oil supply, taking into consideration its current April production of around 3.25 million bpd. Gulf states adjust curfews, airport restrictions  Saudi Arabia eased curfews on April 26 across the country but kept 24-hour lockdowns in place in the city of Mecca and neighborhoods previously put in isolation to curb the spread of the new coronavirus, state news agency SPA said. The country also said it would allow entry into and exit from Qatif province starting April 30. Meanwhile, the emirate of Dubai said on April 26 it had lifted its full lockdown on two commercial districts that have a large population of low-income migrant workers, after the UAE eased nationwide coronavirus curfews the previous weekend Kuwait decided to extend the suspension of work in the public sector including at government ministries until May 31 and expand a nationwide curfew to 16 hours as part of efforts to combat the coronavirus, a government spokesman said on April 20. Bahrain reopened the Bahrain International Airport for transit passengers, Manama-based Gulf Air said on April 4, though entry to the country remains limited to Bahraini nationals and residents. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait implement new economic measures Saudi Arabia was set to raise $7 billion with a three-tranche bond deal on April 15, a document showed, as the world’s biggest oil exporter seeks to replenish state coffers battered by low oil prices and expectations of lower output. King Salman has also ordered up to 9 billion riyals ($2.4 billion) to be disbursed to pay part of the wages of private-sector workers to deter companies from laying off staff, the state-run Saudi Press Agency reported on April 3. The UAE central bank has urged commercial lenders to use the $70 billion-worth of capital and liquidity measures launched by the regulator to support the economy during the coronavirus outbreak, reported Reuters on April 13. Dubai’s department of finance has told all government agencies to slash capital spending by at least half and halt new hiring until further notice, in response to the coronavirus outbreak, reported Reuters on April 9. Qatar’s ruler has asked the government to postpone $8.2 billion in unawarded contracts on capital expenditure projects due to the coronavirus outbreak, according to a bond prospectus dated April 7. Kuwait announced measures early on April 1 aimed at shoring up its economy against the coronavirus pandemic, including soft long-term loans from local banks. The country’s central bank asked banks to ease loan repayments for companies affected. Gulf states deport and repatriate migrant workers due to coronavirus The UAE and Pakistan are working to add more flights to repatriate Pakistani citizens, a Dubai government source said on April 22. More than 20,000 Pakistani workers stuck in the UAE have registered since April 3 with the consulate to go home, as the Gulf Arab state tightens restrictions due to the coronavirus outbreak. Qatar detained dozens of migrant workers and expelled them in March after telling them they were being taken to be tested for the new coronavirus, human rights group Amnesty International said on April 15. Saudi Arabia has deported 2,870 Ethiopian migrants to Addis Ababa since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, the U.N. migration agency said on April 13, urging Riyadh to suspend the practice for the time being. Saudi Arabia ends flogging, death sentences for minors Saudi Arabia said on April 26 that it would no longer impose the death sentence on individuals who committed crimes while still minors, according to a statement from the state-backed Human Rights Commission (HRC), which cited a royal decree by King Salman. The country also said that it is ending flogging as a form of punishment, according to a document from the kingdom’s top court seen by Reuters on April 24. GCC monarchies to establish food supply safety network  The Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) six Arab monarchies have approved Kuwait’s proposal for a common network for food supply safety, the state-run Kuwait News Agency reported on April 16. The decision was taken after a virtual meeting of GCC trade and industry ministers to discuss the COVID-19 outbreak’s impact on food supply safety. Qatar pushes back against US accusations of World Cup bribery  The organizers of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar have strongly denied allegations from the U.S. Department of Justice that bribes were paid to secure votes for the hosting rights to the tournament. On April 6, for the first time, prosecutors set direct, formal allegations regarding the 2018 and 2022 World Cups down in an indictment.

Major League Baseball roundup: LeBlanc signs extension, leads…
Wade LeBlanc, who signed a contract extension earlier in the day, pitched seven strong innings Tuesday night as the host Seattle Mariners defeated the Los Angeles Angels 4-1 at Safeco Field for their eighth straight victory.

LeBlanc (4-0) allowed one run on three hits, walked one and struck out four.
His contract extension covers the 2019 season, with club options through 2022.
The left-hander, in his second stint with the Mariners, has made 20 starts with Seattle without suffering a loss, the third-longest streak to begin a tenure with a single club since 1920. LeBlanc trails only the New York Yankees’ Whitey Ford (22 games, 1950-53) and Montreal’s Kirk Rueter (22, 1993-94).
Diamondbacks 4, Cardinals 2
Paul Goldschmidt hit the go-ahead three-run homer in the fifth inning and Zack Greinke won his fourth straight start as host Arizona held on to beat St. Louis.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Diamondbacks. The Cardinals have lost five of six.
Goldschmidt homered to the opposite field off Cardinals starter Jack Flaherty (3-4) and finished 2-for-4 — he singled in the eighth inning — to continue his torrid five-week stretch. He is batting .385 with 13 homers and 32 RBIs in 33 games since May 27 to lift his overall average from .201 to .277. The first baseman has six hits in eight at-bats in the first two games of the three-game series against the Cardinals.
Indians 6, Royals 4
Yan Gomes belted his third career grand slam to help Cleveland edge host Kansas City.
Yonder Alonso went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Jose Ramirez also drove in one as Cleveland won its third straight game. The Indians have scored 30 runs during the winning streak.
Rookie right-hander Shane Bieber (4-0) remained unbeaten in five major league starts despite allowing four runs and nine hits over six innings. The 23-year-old struck out two and walked one.
Blue Jays 8, Mets 6
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning as Toronto came back to defeat visiting New York.
Gurriel’s homer came against reliever Tim Peterson (1-1), who retired his first two batters before hitting Randal Grichuk with a pitch. Gurriel, who had three RBIs in the game, followed with his fourth homer of the season.
Former Blue Jays star Jose Bautista received a standing ovation from the crowd in his first game in Toronto since he finished a 10-season stint with the Blue Jays in 2017. In all, the Mets outfielder walked three times, singled and scored once in five plate appearances. He also committed an error in right field.
Rays 9, Marlins 6 (16 innings)
Rookie Jake Bauers smacked a two-out, two-run double in the top of the 16th inning, breaking a tie and igniting a five-run explosion that gave visiting Tampa Bay a victory over Miami in a game that lasted 5 hours, 31 minutes.
The game was the longest for the Rays since an 18-inning affair against Baltimore in 2013. The Marlins had a 17-inning game in March against the Chicago Cubs.

Vidal Nuno (3-0) pitched two scoreless innings to get the win. Jose Alvarado and catcher Jesus Sucre, making his fourth career pitching appearance, combined on a three-hit, two-run bottom of the 16th to wrap up the wild affair.
Dodgers 8, Pirates 3
Max Muncy hit two of Los Angeles’s six home runs in a win over visiting Pittsburgh.
Joc Pederson, Chris Taylor, Yasmani Grandal and Enrique Hernandez also homered for Los Angeles, which had four homers a night earlier in a 17-1 victory over the Pirates. The Dodgers have hit 18 homers in five games against Pittsburgh.
David Freese was 3-for-3 and drove in all three Pirates runs with two singles and a homer.
Astros 5, Rangers 3
Josh Reddick and Tony Kemp flashed rare displays of power, and Houston snapped a three-game losing skid with a win over host Texas.
Reddick homered off Rangers right-hander Austin Bibens-Dirkx (1-2) in the third inning for his seventh home run of the season and first since a multi-homer game on April 21 in Chicago against the White Sox. Three batters later, with catcher Tim Federowicz on first base, Kemp blasted a two-run homer to right for his second homer and first since May 26 at Cleveland.
Astros left-hander Dallas Keuchel (5-8) benefitted from the early run support and worked seven strong innings, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk with seven strikeouts. He led 2-0 before even taking the mound thanks to run-scoring doubles from Yuli Gurriel and Reddick.
Yankees 8, Braves 5
Giancarlo Stanton made a leaping catch at the right-center field fence in the top of the seventh inning to rob Kurt Suzuki of a home run and hit a two-run homer in the eighth as New York held on to beat visiting Atlanta.
Stanton was unable to catch a two-run homer by Nick Markakis off Adam Warren in the seventh that cut the lead to 6-5. Stanton made an awkward leap to snag the ball and hit the fence with his arms and legs as it bounced into the first row of the seats.
Aroldis Chapman, pitching for the third straight day, threw a scoreless ninth for his 24th save.
Phillies 3, Orioles 2
Zach Eflin pitched seven strong innings as host Philadelphia won its third in a row, defeating Baltimore in a game that was delayed nearly 90 minutes at the outset because of rain.
Eflin (7-2) won his sixth straight start, becoming the first Phillies pitcher to do so since Cliff Lee in 2011. Eflin allowed two runs on five hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out six. The right-hander continued his strong performance from June, when he went 5-0 with a 1.76 ERA.
Orioles starter Alex Cobb (2-10) allowed all three runs on four hits in 6 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out five.
White Sox 12, Reds 8 (12 innings)
Yoan Moncada laced a tiebreaking three-run triple for Chicago, which came back from four- and five-run deficits to beat host Cincinnati.
The White Sox won for the second time in six games. The Reds lost for just the fourth time in their last 16 games.
Slideshow (13 Images)
Hector Santiago (3-3), the sixth White Sox pitcher, earned the win by recording all six outs via strikeout over two hitless innings.
Red Sox 11, Nationals 4
Eduardo Nunez and Xander Bogaerts both hit three-run homers while J.D. Martinez added a two-run shot as Boston defeated Washington in the second game of their interleague series at Nationals Park.
The teams will meet early on Wednesday for a July 4th special in the finale of this three-game series. Boston has won the first two games while the Nationals have dropped four in a row.
Nunez hit his blast in the second inning to give the Red Sox an early lead. Bogaerts got his homer during a six-run fifth inning, and Martinez finished with four RBIs.
Rockies 8, Giants 1
Nolan Arenado and Charlie Blackmon homered, Antonio Senzatela pitched seven shutout innings and Colorado beat visiting San Francisco.
Blackmon finished with three hits and Trevor Story had an RBI triple for the Rockies, who have won 14 of their last 16 home games against San Francisco.
Alen Hanson had two hits and an RBI for the Giants, who have dropped two in a row after winning seven of eight.
Cubs 5, Tigers 3
Jason Heyward scored two runs and drove in another, Anthony Rizzo knocked in two runs and Chicago rallied from a three-run deficit to top visiting Detroit.
Kyle Schwarber added a solo homer for Chicago. Ex-Tiger Justin Wilson (3-2) collected the victory with one inning of scoreless relief. Pedro Strop got the last three outs for his second save.
Neither starter figured in the decision. Chicago’s Kyle Hendricks gave up three runs on seven hits in five innings. Detroit’s Michael Fulmer tossed six innings, also allowing three runs on seven hits.
Brewers 2, Twins 0
Eric Thames hit a two-run home run and Junior Guerra, Josh Hader and Corey Knebel combined for a two-hitter as host Milwaukee blanked Minnesota.
Thames had two hits as Milwaukee became the first team in the National League to hit the 50-win mark. The Brewers won despite managing just four hits and striking out 16 times in 28 at-bats.
Guerra (5-5) pitched five shutout innings, giving up just two hits and walking three while striking out eight. Left-hander Hader then came on and pitched a season-high three innings, allowing just a walk while striking out two for his 14th hold of the season. Corey Knebel struck out the side in the ninth to garner his ninth save.
Athletics 6, Padres 2
Jed Lowrie highlighted a five-run sixth inning with a bases-clearing double as host Oakland rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat San Diego in the opener of a two-game interleague series.
Padres left-hander Clayton Richard (7-8) had shut out the A’s on two hits over five innings before walking Chad Pinder to open the sixth.
After a single by Marcus Semien and a walk to Stephen Piscotty loaded the bases, Lowrie drove in all three with his 25th double of the season.
