Apple is trying so desperately to avoid licensing the progress pride flag that they keep creating the ugliest pride Watch Bands you've ever seen with your holy peepers.
Like, what fucking part of this thing says "pride," to you? The colors aren't even close to being right.
It's giving neo-hippy, upper-middle class, camping "enthusiast" who owns a Rivian and calls the HOA on their neighbor for hanging a tie-dye tapestry on their front porch.

Why Apple Watch Bands Command a Premium Price?
Apple recently released the Rainbow Sport Band for the Apple Watch on their official website. Priced at $54, it is compatible with the Apple Watch Series 3 and newer models. Along with the band, Apple has also launched matching Rainbow Celebration watch faces and wallpapers for both the Apple Watch and iPhone. To access these new features, users need to upgrade their devices to watchOS 9.5 and iOS 16.5.
Many people question why Apple’s original watch bands, such as this one, come with a higher price tag, especially when third-party options offer similar styles at much lower prices. The Stainless Steel Milanese Loop, for example, is priced at $110 on Apple's website, further prompting the question: Why are Apple Watch bands so expensive?
The answer lies in both the brand value and engineering precision that Apple incorporates into each watch band. It’s not just about the Apple name—there’s a level of craftsmanship that goes into every detail. For example, the component formed by three seemingly simple buttons on the Apple Watch band is referred to as the X206 spring structure. This structure ensures that when the band slides into the groove of the watch, the buckle aligns perfectly. As it slides into place, the spring mechanism engages, pushing the band securely into position.
A former Apple engineer revealed that achieving this level of precision required a significant investment. Apple purchased hundreds of Swiss CNC machines worth $2 million each to ensure that the band’s fit could be engineered with a margin of error of just 5 microns. That kind of precision isn’t something you’ll find in third-party alternatives.
Additionally, many Apple Watch bands are redesigned and refined by Apple’s in-house design team. For example, before finalizing the design for the Link Bracelet, Jony Ive and his team spent almost a year perfecting the structural elements. Even the Milanese Loop, which might look like a simple woven stainless steel band, goes through a laser sealing and polishing process that enhances its texture and durability.
Though this level of detail and precision increases the cost of production, Apple engineers see it as a necessary investment. One engineer expressed that while these efforts might go unnoticed by some, they represent a level of artistry and craftsmanship that sets Apple Watch bands apart from their competitors.
In the end, you’re not just paying for the materials or design—you’re paying for the meticulous engineering, innovative design, and the seamless integration of technology and fashion that only Apple can deliver.

Apple Watch Bands: A Blend of Style and Functionality
For those who appreciate the finer details of watch accessories, Apple Watch bands offer an exciting world of personalization, versatility, and style. Over the years, Apple has consistently expanded its lineup of bands, giving collectors a wide range of options to suit different tastes and lifestyles. With each new iteration, like the Series 10, Apple continues to elevate the art of wearable technology, making their bands as much a fashion statement as they are functional.
As a collector, I’ve found the Apple Watch band ecosystem to be one of the most intriguing aspects of owning the watch itself. The design, materials, and variety are constantly evolving, providing a rich selection for those who want to enhance their watch experience. Below, I’ll delve into the key reasons why Apple Watch bands have become a must-have for collectors.
1. Design and Craftsmanship
Apple is renowned for its attention to detail, and the watch bands are no exception. From the sleek and minimalist Solo Loop to the luxurious leather Hermès bands, every design has been thoughtfully crafted to offer comfort, durability, and aesthetic appeal.
What’s particularly notable about Apple’s bands is the versatility in their designs. For instance, the stainless steel Milanese Loop is a collector's favorite, known for its breathable mesh and elegant clasp. The Braided Solo Loop, on the other hand, provides a unique texture, blending recycled yarn with silicone to create a stretchy, comfortable band.
This combination of premium materials and sleek designs means that each band can completely transform the look of the Apple Watch, allowing collectors to curate a set that reflects both modern trends and timeless styles.
2. Variety and Personalization
One of the most exciting aspects of collecting Apple Watch bands is the immense variety. Whether you’re into leather, metal, rubber, or fabric, Apple’s catalog has something for everyone. Leather bands like the Leather Link offer sophistication, while the Sport Band made from fluoroelastomer is perfect for those with an active lifestyle. The wide range of colors, textures, and closures (buckles, loops, and clasps) means that every collector can find something that resonates with their personal style.
Apple’s continued release of seasonal colors also keeps the collection dynamic. For example, bands in bright pastel hues might be introduced in spring, while earth tones and darker shades are often featured in fall. For collectors, this seasonal rotation ensures that there is always something new and exciting to add to their collection.
Beyond just collecting for different looks, the ease of swapping out bands allows for personalization that matches outfits, occasions, or even moods. You can go from a sporty look with a Nike Sport Loop during the day to a classy Leather Link for a formal event in the evening—simply by changing the band.
3. Limited Editions and Collaborations
Another aspect that makes Apple Watch bands collectible is the limited-edition releases and collaborations with well-known brands. Apple’s collaboration with Hermès has produced some of the most exclusive and coveted bands, like the leather Double Tour that wraps elegantly around the wrist twice, combining fine craftsmanship with luxurious materials. These limited-run bands are highly sought after, offering both rarity and a touch of high fashion.
The collaboration with Nike, on the other hand, brings sportier designs to the table. Bands like the Nike Sport Loop and Nike Sport Band feature perforated designs for better airflow during workouts, making them both functional and stylish. The Nike bands often come in exclusive colors that appeal to fitness enthusiasts and collectors alike, making them popular items to seek out.
Limited-edition bands, whether from special collaborations or seasonal releases, offer that extra thrill of exclusivity for collectors. Owning a rare band not only adds value to your collection but also gives you a unique piece of wearable art.
4. Material Innovation
Apple’s innovation extends beyond the watch itself—it’s also evident in the materials used for their bands. For example, the Solo Loop and Braided Solo Loop bands, both introduced in recent years, utilize advanced manufacturing techniques. The Solo Loop, made from liquid silicone rubber, is designed as a single, stretchable piece with no buckles or clasps, offering a snug and comfortable fit. The Braided Solo Loop takes things further, blending yarn with silicone to create a soft, breathable, and environmentally friendly option.
These material innovations aren’t just about aesthetics; they improve the user experience. The fluoroelastomer used in Sport Bands is perfect for workouts because it resists sweat and water, ensuring durability and comfort during exercise. Meanwhile, leather bands like those from the Hermès collection offer a premium feel that ages beautifully over time, making them a joy to collect and wear.
5. Function Meets Fashion
Collecting Apple Watch bands isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about blending form with function. The interchangeable band system allows collectors to tailor their watch to different occasions, whether it’s a formal dinner, a workout session, or a casual day out. This adaptability makes the Apple Watch more than just a piece of technology—it becomes a versatile accessory that can match every aspect of your life.
For example, you might wear a Sport Band for a morning run, then switch to a Milanese Loop for a work meeting, and later change to a Leather Link for an evening out. This level of customization is unmatched by most traditional watches, making Apple Watch bands not only practical but also integral to personal style.
6. Collecting for the Long Term
For collectors, the backward compatibility of Apple Watch bands is a significant plus. Bands that fit older models often remain compatible with newer ones, allowing for a long-term collection that doesn’t become obsolete with each new generation of the watch. This means that as a collector, your investment in bands isn’t wasted when upgrading to the latest model, making it a rewarding hobby over time.
Apple’s commitment to maintaining this compatibility has allowed me to build a versatile and diverse collection that spans across several watch generations, from the earlier Series 3 to the latest Series 10.
Conclusion: A Collector’s Playground
The world of Apple Watch bands is one where fashion meets function in a way that few other accessories can offer. With a constantly evolving lineup, innovative materials, exclusive collaborations, and the ability to personalize your watch for any occasion, collecting Apple Watch bands is more than just a hobby—it’s a passion. Whether you’re drawn to the luxurious Hermès leather straps or the practical Sport Bands, there’s something in Apple’s collection for every taste.
For collectors, it’s not just about acquiring as many bands as possible, but about curating a collection that reflects personal style, appreciates design craftsmanship, and celebrates innovation. Apple Watch bands continue to push the boundaries of what wearable technology can be, and for those of us who love collecting, it’s a journey that’s just as exciting as the watch itself.
