when people refer to canon story-relevant kingdom hearts games as ‘spinoffs’ it makes me sad not only for the obvious reasons i always say but also bc like man i WISH this series had spinoffs. imagine what they could do if they had permission from nomura to truly go off the rails and ignore the greater canon for a second and just do some fun whimsical plotless thing in an alternate universe. imagine a fishing/boating game on destiny islands. kh fighting game. it is an injustice that we have been deprived of kingdom karts. can anyone hear me

#in terms of alternate gameplay and lack of reliance on plot #i feel like melody of memory is the closest thing kh has actually had to a spinoff #but even that is important in its own way in the end #union cross to a certain degree as well what with being an online multiplayer gacha type game #its original concept i would definitely classify as a spinoff game #bc it was set in a totally different world and time period and was supposed to be about customization and fun with friends #and nomura or someone said it wasn’t meant to be connected to the plot #but then like. he did very much go and give it a plot. like he went back on that almost immediately #and even then. given that the game is still very much combat and exploration #even from the beginning can it really be called a spinoff? it’s just kh in a different format #i’m talking like a game in which the objective is something totally different.#racing game or cooking game or fighting game or (another) rhythm game #ace attorney style detective game. dancing game. dude i don’t know #there are so many different flavors they could go with here #alas nomura is allergic to genuine whimsy which is hilarious given that this is a disney series #like he apparently was like ‘ohhh should we really let sora in smash? would it make sense in the story?’#my brother in christ surely we’re not supposed to interpret this as canon to kh right? right????#i guess it’s just that the kh franchise has a very specific pristine vibe he wants to maintain #which is disney shenanigans as a seasoning on top of a main dish of Stone Cold Serious Anime Plot #kingdom hearts #kh #mine: kh

wanna know the most fucked up fact about Corruption?

using it never actually killed the target.

Lovecraft was blasted to pieces but showed up fine a while later.

The Dead Apple dragon was disintegrated but Shibusawa got up a few minutes after to fight Atsushi and the gang.

In the DA prologue, despite using Corruption, Shibusawa was not really killed since he shows up later was he?

Guivre in SB was also vanquished, and Verlaine should have died, but Rimbaud came in last second and saved him anyway.

Even when Rimbaud accidentally released Arahabaki in Fifteen, it wasn't enough to kill him or Verlaine, and it didn't even destroy the lab enough for it to never come up again. And when Verlaine forced its activation in SB, there simply was no enemy to defeat.

Sure it most definitely killed people (grunts, scientists and bystanders for example) and it does get the job done for defeating the enemy, but it never actually kills the threat it was primarily used for. And that's messed up in ways I can't quite put into words.

Wild how we know that Elizabeth Woodville was officially appointed to royal councils in her own right during her husband’s reign and fortified the Tower of London in preparation of a siege while 8-months pregnant and had forces gathering at Westminster “in the queen’s name” in 1483 – only for NONE of these things to be even included, let alone explored, in the vast majority of scholarship and historical novels involving her.

But it's 100% true so I had to post it.#elizabeth woodville #my post #Imo this is mainly because Elizabeth's negative historiography has always involved both vilification and diminishment in equal measure.#and because her brand of vilification (femme fatale; intriguer) suggests more indirect/“feminine” than legitimate/forceful types of power #It's still bizarre though-you'd think these would be some of the most famous & defining aspects of Elizabeth's life. But apparently not #I guess she only matters when it comes to marrying Edward and Promoting Her Family and scheming against Richard #There is very lacking interest in her beyond those things even in her traditionally negative depictions #And most of her “reassessments” tend to do diminish her so badly she's rendered utterly irrelevant and almost pathetic by the end of it #Even when some of these things *are* mentioned they're never truly emphasized as they should be.#See: her formal appointment in royal councils. It was highly unconventional + entirely unprecedented for queens in the 14th & 15th century #You'd think this would be incredibly important and highlighted when analyzing late medieval queenship in England but apparently not #Historians are more willing to straight-up INVENT positions & roles for so many other late medieval queens/king's mothers that didn't exist #(not getting into this right now it's too long...)#But somehow acknowledging and discussing Elizabeth's ACTUAL formally appointed role is too much for them I guess #She's either subsumed into the general vilification of her family (never mind that they were known as 'the queen's kin' to actual #contemporaries; they were defined by HER not the other way around) or she's rendered utterly insignificant by historians. Often both.#But at the end of the day her individual role and identity often overlooked or downplayed in both scenarios #and ofc I've said this before but - there has literally never been a proper reassessment of Elizabeth's role in 1483-85 TILL DATE #despite the fact that it's such a sensational and well-known time period in medieval England #This isn't even a Wars of the Roses thing. Both Margaret of Anjou and Margaret Beaufort have had multiple different reassessments #of their roles and positions during their respective crises/upheavals by now;#There is simply a distinct lack of interest in reassessing Elizabeth in a similar way and I think this needs to be acknowledged.#Speaking of which - there's also a persistent habit of analyzing her through the context of Margaret of Anjou or Elizabeth of York #(either as a parallel or a foil) rather than as a historical figure in HER OWN RIGHT #that's also too long to get into I just wanted to point it out because I hate it and I think it's utterly senseless #I've so much to say about how all of this affects her portrayal in historical fiction as well but that's going into a whole other tangent #anyway- I am forever judging historical/fictional books that center around or heavily involve Elizabeth which do not highlight these things #ofc there are other things but these in particular *really* frustrate me #just felt like ranting a bit in the tags because these are all things that I want to individually discuss someday with proper posts...

I really, really wish people who don't have the capacity to properly take care of animals would simply accept and acknowledge that about themselves. This isn't even a post of me trying to be mean or judge anyone, I'm sure most people go into getting an animal with good intentions, but intentions and actions are different. If you don't have the time and the space and the care an animal needs, the animal will suffer. The fleeting joy of having a kitten or puppy or anything else doesn't last forever and they aren't toys to be put down and forgotten once you've moved past the inital excitement. If you don't have the ability to properly care for an animal, just accept that and simply admire them from a distance.

#the amount of people i know who flippantly just. buy a random pet with no prior planning or thought #and like its not always outright neglect #you can technically feed and groom a pet get them flee treatments etc but if you lock it outside 24/7 and spend no actual time #like why do you have that animal?#you should not have that aninal #if you have too much in your life to adequately care for one its vetter for YOU and for the animal to not have one #like this little cat is so sweet #actually the sweetest cat ive ever known and my cat tigs has always been a massive sweety already #so its saying something that shes been even sweeter #i mean i brushed her teeth and got matted fur off her and cleaned her eyes and she NEVER bit or scratched me once #shes so quiet and sweet #but the people across the road clearly just left her outside to her own devices her whole life #seemingly no vet checks. didnt feed her properly and i sometimes wonder if at all bc their next door neighbour was feeding her apparently #and he has no pets!! even he knew that shit was wrong #and now shes so sickly and small and malnourished and her teeth are rotting out of her head #and its just like ????#why have her #you could have realized you werent really the type for pets and given her to a shelter #and she would have been adopted 100%#but they kept her all this time but also not really bc its not like she was kept properly at all #its sad she didnt come over here sooner #i wish id had since she was a baby or even a year ago #bc then maybe i could have helped her more #its just so unnecessary. Animals are a privilege not a right.#and again like. go visit your cousin or uncle or sister or friends pet in that case #you might not have the time or ability but you could still enjoy animals wothout directly having one

George would have been such a menace if he'd been able to text... texting Tom Petty at 3 am to tell him he's beautiful and leaving Paul on read for days straight

#he'd come RIGHT up to the line of ghosting Paul and then send him a 'k' text in the middle of the night #actually I do wonder what methods they used to keep in touch in the 90s and what paul and ringo use now #I know tom petty send george a fax (???) after that guy broke in and stabbed him #because apparently people used faxes for non-business communication at one point #or at least tom petty did #and ringo has only ever sent three emails and barbara typed two of them #or so he claims lol #I suspect it's mostly phone calls though #I went through my 90 year old grandma's voicemail after she died and she got 42 voicemails in three days #that's just what the old folks are using these days #the beatles #george harrison #paul mccartney #shitpost #op
