well at least it didn’t end on a cliffhanger. god bless self-contained Lego seasons.
I think Nexo Knights ended in about the perfect place! Not to give any spoilers, but it wrapped up most of its main plot pretty well while leaving the ending open in case of continuation! While it would’ve been cool to learn more about the Clay thing and the Wizard’s Counsel lore and the spooky guy who gave Merlok the thing, I feel like having Monstrux as a villain again (which is what they were hinting) would have made the series feel repetitive and trite, while also not being able to one-up Season 4′s finale.
mk spoilers
yeah no it definitely would have been annoying having five seasons of Monstrux. And Jestro again? If they did bring him back? No-ho-ho thanks, you can always have too much of a good thing, and man’s been through enough. Learning more about Wanda might’ve been interesting, but no thanks, I don’t think it could’ve lived up to the hype and plot twist that was “dude she’s Clay’s mom”. Like, what else could’ve been that mind-shattering?
Do I wish we could’ve learned more about the knights? Yesn’t. Another problem that lego shows after Ninjago has is its characters. While Ninjago took time to make each character three-dimensional, Nexo Knights and Chima don’t do much of that outside of a few small moments. Because of that, you can really easily summarize the characters with a few traits and gimmicks. That being said, I would’ve loved to see the characters grow or change throughout the series if it had kept going. Not sure how much could’ve been done, the only thing sticking out to me is “make Lance less of a douche”, but it’s still a nice thought. Imma be real, if this was a “Clay season”, with the possibility of the others having seasons after that, Imma be real jeeved.
Also also, Robin only powered up once, and Ava powered up zero times, this is hogwash.
now the small things:
-Hamletta <3 pig friend good. Lance having pig friend good
-Dennis going off to be with the Robin Hood robot guy stuck, good for him
-Aaron my beloved, he is so very cool and just was always cool, hell yeah
-I like how they didn’t make Axl dumb as a rock, he’s a sweet guy who can be pretty clever at times
-Alice Squires wants and deserves to strangle Herb Herbertson so bad, I feel so sorry for her
-bro there are so many similarities between Clay and Lloyd Garmadon haha, including having powerful abilities, a kooky (cool) uncle, fighting a colossus, and having an evil parent
-I thought for sure Macy would be the main one, and that they’d focus on the princess-wants-to-be-a-warrior drama. I’m glad they didn’t, but I also wished they would have touched on it more.
-”Hey there big boy, come here often?” -Definitely-into-men Lance Richmond
-I love how Lance almost never used his weapon the right way, it really emphasized how untrained/uncoordinated/unorthodox he is
-Ava is basically snarkier Dendy and I love her
-loved how kooky Merlok was throughout, such an eccentric silly dude, and I loved Ava’s bantering-yet-loving relationship with him
-Robin you kooky little man you rock it, dude. he definitely deserved to go fight Jestro with the other academy kids in that one episode, just let him do the cool things!!!
All in all, pretty aight show that picked up at the end, glad it ended on a high note but kind of bummed I won’t get to see it ascend higher. A fun time with some fun villains and some pretty mid main characters that still managed to hold my attention. Arrevederci, funny lego show.
