Introduction Post :DD
I don’t know exactly how to do this but I’m doing it anyways!
‼️BEFORE THE INTRO: please do not ask me for donations. I am a minor and cannot donate, and I will not put your posts on my blog. I do feel sympathy but I simply can not donate. Do not send donation asks as hospitals and severe injuries often shown are VERY triggering for me and can send me into panic attacks.‼️
+🌑+🌘+🌗+🌖+🌕+🌔+🌓+🌒+🌑+
Name: Call me N, Mike, Percy, Owl or Halskë :) (generally don’t care)
Age: 15+ (I’m a minor)
Gender: Non-binary (pronouns: any except for neos)
Orientation: biromantic & Demisexual :)
Religion: Hellenistic & Nordic pagan (Greek & Norse deities. Probably won’t post often about this stuff but I do reblog things relating to it) (No, I am not interested in converting, don’t try it. Believe me, the Mormons at my school have tried.)
I’ll post my art once in while! Nothing on my blog in terms of interests is set in stone, but you will often see art from fandoms I’m in, or of my ocs/fursonas!
theriotype: Tundra wolf! (Spiritual) hearttype: border collie! (Spiritual)
kintypes: Cryptidkin, dragonkin, crowkin! (These are either spiritual or/and emotional.)
Serial Designation N (MD) & Micheal Afton (FNaF) fictionkin! :D
‼️‼️IMPORTANT‼️‼️ I am overall chill with SD-N doubles! But please know, Micheal doubles (especially if you mention it in a kind of trying to be friends/moots with me sort of way), I AM WARY. I generally don’t wish to interact with Mike doubles as it makes me mildly uncomfortable. I will not engage in DMs, questions, ETC. with you. I’m sorry! (This is specifically for Micheal Afton doubles.)
Some form of relation/connection to the FNaF franchise besides a kintype. Potential hearthome or idk maybe I’m just sad about my family lmao (damn. There’s a sentence I never thought I’d say in regards to the Aftons.)
THIS IS NOT A ROLEPLAY BLOG. THIS IS PURELY MY THOUGHTS AND DUMB SHIT. THAT WILL INCLUDE MY FICTIONKIN EXPERIENCES.
Fandoms: Grishaverse, Riordanverse, The MCU, Good Omens, The Folk of The Air, Murder Drones, FNaF, The Dream SMP (yes, I know some of the CCs are bad people, I supported very few of them. Tommy, Ranboo, Tubbo, Phil, and Techno were the only ones I actively watched outside of lore streams. This was a hyperfixation of mine and I am still very willing to talk about it because suddenly it’s been revived on Tumblr and now my page is full of C!Clingy duo. Please talk to be about it, I loved it and still do.) Milo Rossi (Miniminuteman) fan :)
I am a diehard FNaF fan. I will talk about it for HOURS. I love FNaF. Mention it and I will vibrate at a frequency strong enough to shatter glass. So yes, please talk to me about it :)
DNI: Basic haters, trans-homo-or otherwise LGBT-phobic people, pro-Nazis, zoos, racists, or fans of The Human Centipede (Gives me PTSD-like triggers.) Those who are “Nordic Myth” kins of any type. (Marvel kins are not included. Y’all are fine.) & NSFW blogs specifically, I don’t care if you interact with me, but do not bring anything NSFW into my asks, I’m a minor and on the asexual spectrum and it makes me uncomfortable, thanks! :)
also please note, even if you are not in my DNI list, I do block freely, I do not stand for people who are constantly pessimistic. I don’t care if you’re pessimistic in general, myself am a realist, but what I mean by that is if you are more than 80% of the time just a negative being, I will most likely not interact with you. I am endo neutral. Don’t bring discourse to me.
another thing! My content is considerably 13+ (I will not respond to asks if you under 12 years old, as it makes me uncomfortable because tweens scare me.) and if you are older than 25, do not interact with me (EX: asks. The exception for this would be like if I follow you and send you an ask.), as you are between 10-5 years older than me. (The under 12 rule does not apply to those who are regressors, and regressors ARE allowed to interact with my content, but be warned, not all of my content is suitable for littles, be safe!)
I accept people of all gender, sexual, and/or identity. Don’t come on to my profile with your phobic bullshit.

Kokichi forgets v3 (saiouma misunderstanding angst prompt)
Apollo: "After the game, Kokichi randomly goes missing. No one knows where he is and unfortunately, not many of them care.
They think that he's running away from his problems like always and besides, they have much more important things to worry about, namely getting out of this damn hospital run by Team Danganronpa.
Unbeknownst to them, Kokichi is still there. He's kept locked in a different ward, with the staff doing their best to slowly break him down.
Sure, the franchise lost a lot of fans and supporters thanks to the 'survivors' but it was still running and well…Kokichi was a fan favourite so why not reuse him?
Why not break him down until he doesn't remember what happened? Why not make him trust them so they can throw him back in? He might not have been a survivor but who cares?"
Checkers: Do they not realize until they see him on V4
Apollo: "They don't even know there's gonna be a V4 until ads suddenly start playing with a strangely familiar silhouette
His behaviour has changed slightly and people start getting close to him and it hurts the V3 cast because they could have been close to him but they weren't and they hadn't even tried to find when when he stopped appearing.
They can't help but wonder if they could have saved him from this fate
But imagine not caring about someone and seeing them thrown back into DR and seeing them be liked by people"
Hina: Seeing Kokichi in that game, unable to remember anything that happened, is absolutely killing them Idk if he keeps his talent but If he brings the group together as a leader in that game?
Apollo: It tears them up inside because they finally notice that he IS a good leader…They just never gave him a chance
Hina: Imagine they try reaching out to him once he gets out But. He only recalls V4s cast
me: he falls for Shuichi anyway, as a handsome stranger he met, Shuichi gives up on telling him since he is not getting those memories back and has a fresh dose of trauma to deal with, so why bother him with Shuichi's guilt… well, Kokichi ends up finding out what happened in v3 anyway but it's like, Kokichi tells him he doesn't want to know about it and that he doesn't plan to look into it, because it would just feel weird to see himself there with no memories of it and possibly acting like someone else, but he stumbles onto a clip that has Shuichi in it online and gets curious and he thinks Shuichi hates him and only got close to him to get back at him like, mind you, he has no idea what his motivations and plans were in v3, he sees a clip that's from a curated narrative and he's just. it's super fucked up for him to see it's actually some Shuichi compilation I decided, so it starts tame, some sad moments, actually a cute moment from their FTE, and then he gets bitch slapped with Shuichi being mad at him and telling him off, and Shuichi seeming to only care about Kaito in ch5 he comes to Conclusions I am picturing it happening as they're in this fragile early stage of the relationship where they've been on a couple dates but haven't called it an official item and told people, so it's super bad - bad No reason for Kokichi to calm down and ground himself in something he can trust Shuichi about, nobody to intervene

The Big Three & The Freudian Trio
Note: I know that Freud is a pretty much hated figure and his theories are criticized for various reasons. And I perfectly understood you guys, I partly blame him for all the "Yo Mama!" jokes when in the Myth of Oedipus dude literally gouged his eyes out after he found out that he actually fu- ANYWAY, this post is purely based on the trope inspired by one of his psychological theories and nothing else.
As you guys might have observed, there are a lot of franchises which contain at least one trio. What some of you might not notice though is that this trio is usually ment to respect the "Two Foils + Balance" unwritten rule, each character representing one of these three positions: The Id, The Ego and The Superego.
Freud defined the human psyche as consisting of three parts:
the Id, which represented emotional and instinctual desires;
the Superego, which represented the rules and social conventions;
the Ego, which reconciled the Id and Superego through conscious choices.
Likewise, the Freudian Trio consists of three characters: one who acts emotionally and instinctively, one who acts with cold, passionless logic and one who reconciles the two conflicting ideals. Sometimes the Id/Superego dynamics play out with just two characters, but in those cases the representatives of opposing sides must learn to negotiate with each other.
Now, the main reason why I decided to write this post is because when it comes the the Big Tree I observed that many people decide that Zeus is the Id because, according to them, he is "impulsive, greedy, prone to huge temper-tantrums, entirely motivated by his sex drive", Poseidon is the Ego because he "could be reasonable or nuts. But in general less impulsive than Zeus and less rigid than Hades" and Hades is the Superego (brooding, morbid, obssesed with rules and laws).
And I respectfully have to disagree with these choices, more specifically with the "Zeus = Id" and "Poseidon = Ego" one.
I understand the fact that Zeus is more prominent than Poseidon in the greek myths, and by extension people tend to believe that he is more impulsive than him whereas Poseidon is more cool-headed. But in reality, it’s quite the opposite. I know that Zeus haters don't like to hear that, but Zeus is pretty much capable of long-term planning and proves himself to be intelligent and strategic whenever he wants to. He is very cunning and the fact that he sleeps with many women isn't necessary because he is horny, but because he tries to create in the process powerful (but not powerful enough to overthrow him, of course) and honorable deities and heroes. After all, he is the Father of the Gods both metaphorically and literally. Poseidon, on the other hand, is way more short-tempered than him. He was the one who complained the most about the fact that he didn't get the sky and even joined Hera, Apollo and Athena in a failed attempt to overthrow him. Contrary to what people believe, Zeus has more beef with Poseidon than with Hades, who seemed very content with receiving the Underworld and got there right after drawing the shortest straw. Also, just because the myths where Poseidon brutally rapes someone are less common than the ones in which Zeus does it, that doesn’t mean that he is less of a rapey god than his younger brother.
The Ego is Zeus — god of law over men and hospitality, the mediator between other gods and the enforcer of laws (but not in a rigid/unrealistic manner), while the Id is Poseidon — as roiling and angry as the sea, causing trouble. It was Zeus, after all, who decreed that the gods should stop interfering in the Trojan War, and the one who swallowed the Goddess of Prudence.

When Carl Weathers auditioned for the role of Apollo Creed, the prizefighter who gives an untried contender a shot at his heavyweight title in Rocky (1976), he was asked to read opposite the film’s writer. “Now – I’m ignorant – and as I finish reading, I say, ‘Well, wait a minute, if you can get me a real actor to read with, I can do this a lot better.’”
Unbeknown to him, his scene partner was the newcomer Sylvester Stallone, who had not only written the script but was playing the title role. “Somehow I got the job,” said Weathers.
A 6ft 2in former NFL linebacker, Weathers, who has died aged 76, brought the full force of his charisma to a role that could in less skilful hands have prompted straightforward hisses and boos. There was a depth and kindness to him that no amount of on-screen braggadocio could conceal. He spoke, said one LA Times reporter, with the “overly concise diction of a TV evangelist”.
To prepare for the role of Apollo, Weathers watched old Muhammad Ali fights for inspiration. Shot for peanuts, the film grossed $225m, won three Oscars, including best picture, and spawned four sequels. A further three films in the spin-off Creed cycle featured Michael B Jordan as Apollo’s son Adonis.
Weathers was taken aback by the instant fame that Rocky brought him. The day after the film opened, he said, “I was out for a walk in Manhattan and street vendors are yelling, ‘Yo, Apollo.’ That is scary. You are not prepared for that.”
He reprised his role in the first three Rocky sequels. Rocky II (1979) begins immediately after the events of the original film, with both fighters in wheelchairs, coming face-to-swollen-face with one another in the hospital.
“Get up out of that chair, chump, and let’s finish this fight right now!” Apollo demands, having won only on a split decision after 15 rounds. Later, there is a moment of tenderness when Rocky, bandaged and slurring, wheels himself to Apollo’s hospital room late at night, nudges open his door, and asks whether Apollo really gave the match his all.
Though they decide initially against a rematch, Apollo becomes incensed by the hate mail he receives branding the fight a fake. Rocky II ends with the opponents bloodied on the canvas. Struggling to his feet, Rocky is declared the winner.
In Rocky III (1982), Apollo trains Rocky against a vicious new opponent, Clubber Lang (Mr T). The old adversaries get back in the ring at the end of that film for a friendly sparring match, the outcome of which remained a secret until Rocky revealed to Adonis in Creed (2015) that Apollo had clinched it. In Rocky IV (1985), Apollo is brutally trounced in a bout with the Russian boxer Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren). He dies in Rocky’s arms.
Weathers found many of the subsequent roles he was offered to be “pointless and meaningless”. But he enjoyed squaring off against another of that decade’s action heroes – Arnold Schwarzenegger – in the fantasy thriller Predator (1987).
In their first scene together, the men greet each other with a handshake that develops into an impromptu arm-wrestling contest. It is won by Schwarzenegger, his bicep bulging monstrously in close-up – a clear case of the more famous actor literally flexing his celebrity muscle.
Weathers later meets a sticky end during an encounter in the jungle with a shape-shifting alien. He loses an arm – his finger is still firing the trigger of his automatic weapon even as the limb falls to the ground – before expiring with a blood-curdling scream.
During his down-time on Predator, the actor developed with the film’s producer Joel Silver a lead role for himself as a Detroit detective in his own shoot-’em-up adventure, Action Jackson (1988), though a hoped-for franchise never materialised.
He acquitted himself well in the Adam Sandler golfing comedy Happy Gilmore (1996) as a pro golfer whose hand is bitten off by an alligator; in one scene, he sits at a grand piano on a golf course playing We’ve Only Just Begun. He reprised the role in Sandler’s Little Nicky (2000) but was even funnier as a tight-fisted, cost-cutting version of himself in four episodes of the sitcom Arrested Development between 2004 and 2013.
Weathers was born in New Orleans, the eldest son of a labourer father. He won a sports scholarship to St Augustine high school, then attended Long Beach Poly high school and Long Beach City College. He made it to San Diego State University on a football scholarship and graduated with a degree in theatre.
His professional football career began in 1970 with a single season with the Oakland Raiders. After being dismissed for being “too sensitive”, he played for two years with the British Columbia Lions in the Canadian Football League. “How good was I? I was good enough to make it … But I was never dedicated enough. I was never in love with football.” Acting, he said, was “a lot more fun, and I ache a lot less.”
He retired from football in 1974 and won supporting roles in television series such as The Six Million Dollar Man (1975) and Starsky and Hutch (1976), and with Pam Grier in the blaxploitation thrillers Bucktown and Friday Foster (both 1975).
After Rocky, he starred with Burt Reynolds and Kris Kristofferson in the football comedy Semi-Tough (1977); with Robert Shaw and Harrison Ford in the Guns of Navarone sequel Force 10 from Navarone (1978); and alongside Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin in the thriller Death Hunt (1981). He also wrote and performed the 1981 soul single You Ought to Be With Me.
Television work was plentiful, though attempts to fashion a long-running TV vehicle for him were hit-and-miss. In Fortune Dane (1986), he played a political troubleshooter battling white-collar crime; the show lasted six episodes. Its producer Barney Rosenzweig called Weathers “one of the more intelligent people I’ve ever been in business with. But he’s a physical animal. He’s gorgeous … The guy looks like a Greek god.”
He was a regular on Street Justice (1991-93), In the Heat of the Night (1993-95), inspired by the 1967 Sidney Poitier film of the same name, and Chicago Justice (2017).
Weathers also provided the voice of Combat Carl in Toy Story 4 (2019) and played the bounty hunter Greef Karga in the Star Wars spin-off series The Mandalorian (2019-23).
Weathers’ three marriages ended in divorce. He is survived by two sons, Jason and Matthew, from his first marriage, to Mary Ann Castle in 1973.

#I'm crying it was supposed to be a trilogy WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE ANOTHER GAME MFMGMGMGMG
that's not actually true! this is a pretty popular idea amongst fans that spread i think mostly because return of the great departed soul feels so strongly like a finale case that was shifted towards the middle of the game. but actually, what happened is the opposite. the DGS duology was originally supposed to be one game!
Here's an except from a 2021 Famitsu interview Takumi did for the franchise's 20th, which is where that tidbit about the game putting him in the hospital comes from as well:
Takumi: It doesn’t matter what the game is, it always turns into an ordeal. Especially Gyakuten Saiban 4 (Ace Attorney 4 - Apollo Justice) and Dai Gyakuten Saiban (The Great Ace Attorney - Adventures) put even more pressure on me than usual, as they were turning points in the series. Dai Gyakuten Saiban in particular was dramatic. The concept was “creating a new Gyakuten Saiban” and we’d welcome Sherlock Holmes, a character I’ve loved for a long time, to the franchise, so I became too ambitious. I came up with the overall flow of the story in the first six months, but I had just stuffed too much into it. Near the end of the development cycle, we faced the painful situation that due to scheduling issues, we had to cut the story up because it would be far too much for one game. I could feel that hit right in my stomach. And I was actually admitted to the hospital twice (laugh). Interviewer: You had to go the hospital? Were you okay? Takumi: Once at the end of the development cycle of Dai Gyakuten Saiban, and once at the end of the development cycle of Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2 (The Great Ace Attorney – Resolve). I was released both times, so I guess I’m okay? (laugh) So as a result, Dai Gyakuten Saiban had to be split in two games, but it allowed me to work out the story into something greater than I had originally imagined. And there are also parts I changed greatly due to the fan reaction. For example, the plotline that (REDACTED) was actually (REDACTED)…
The games are not poorly paced because they were trying to squeeze 3 games worth of content into 2 games. they're poorly paced because they had too many ideas to fit elegantly into the time they had to work with.
i just finished tgaa so if you don't mind perhaps repeating urself i'd kinda wanna know what u think 🙈
i really like dgs i feel like it's superbly well executed from all technical angles and the characters are a blast. i think it has a SERIOUS pacing problem though. it was not as bad the first time around, since the novelty of everything stops it from feeling like a slog. but man oh man i think it TANKS the replay value, especially the first game. unspeakable story was difficult enough to get through the first time around but the thought of playing it again is kind of overwhelming.
i honestly think you could cut the length of most trials by ~20% and the dgs games would still be the same game. in general i just feel like the games were a little bit too ambitious and considering they put takumi into the hospital i don't think that's an unfair assessment. i think they suffered from a real scope creep that prevented them from being as tightly written as the trilogy.
that said i think overall they're a great addition to the ace attorney canon and a great show case for shu takumi at his takumi-est. considering that the arsene lupin vs herlock sholmes stories were the first detective stories he really got into, and set him on the path of detective fiction, i think its great he got to do his own take on holmes.

Do you like trilogy Maya or AA6 Maya better?
As much as I love both variations of Maya, I’d have to say that Trilogy Maya is utilized better. I know it’s not fair, since we didn’t get to see that much of AA6 Maya, but that’s an issue with the writing.
Trilogy Maya got in trouble quite a bit, yes, but there was always a reason for it. In 1-2, she was set up by Redd White. In 2-2, her aunt framed her for murder so Pearl could become the Master. In 2-4, DeKiller probably would have figured out some other way to kidnap Maya if she hadn’t followed him through the double doors. Remember that DeKiller is an assassin that has a strong sense of loyalty to his clients. He would have done anything to take her away from Phoenix and force him to take Engarde’s case. In 3-5, her aunt and her cousin plotted to assassinate her and she ended up seeing her mother die right in front of her. It was always due to circumstances out of her control: either having to do with her family or her personal relationship with Phoenix.
So, SOJ decides to come around and put her in danger for no real reason. 6-3, I guess had it so that you’d feel emotionally attached since if it were an ordinary spirit medium, we might not care so much. But 6-5 doesn’t have that, it’s a forced callback to 2-4 smushed into a Phoenix vs. Apollo matchup. There’s no reason why Maya needed to be kidnapped other than to force emotional attachment. And that’s exactly what her problem in SOJ is.
Obviously, Maya has been placed in danger before but in the Trilogy, it wasn’t just for emotional attachment. There were other reasons, provided in-universe, for that to occur and they made sense. Not only that, but Takumi never placed Maya in danger just for the sake of it: would 2-4 be the same if Maya never was kidnapped? Perhaps, but without her being kidnapped, Phoenix has no moral dilemma because he has no reason to keep defending Engarde. Would 2-2 be the same without Maya getting accused of murder, and it being someone else? Most likely not; without Maya, Phoenix has no reason to ever visit Kurain. This means that the franchise would go without its much needed development for Maya and the spirit channeling subject. Not only that, but it screws with 3-5 since Morgan likely wouldn’t have gone to jail if it was just some other spirit medium (not the heir to the seat of Master) let alone plot that spirit medium’s murder. So yes, Takumi did want us to get emotionally attached, but it also worked for the sake of the plot.
SOJ just had Maya in danger for the sake of it and no, I’m not joking. In this interview about 6-3 provided by the Gyakuten Saiban Library, there’s this little tidbit that provides why Yamazaki made it so that Maya got accused of murder:
“Interviewer: And now Mayoi gets arrested again. Had this been decided on from the start?
Yamazaki: Yes, that was all set in stone. Having to save Mayoi just makes the story more exciting, doesn’t it?”
This wouldn’t be such a huge problem if they let Maya openly grieve. The woman was accused of murder, was found “Guilty” of said murder before having that conviction overturned at the last second, was kidnapped, saw a man die in front of her, and was so fatigued by channeling said man to the point that she had to be hospitalized. This all occurs within barely two weeks, and what do they have Maya do the instant she’s on the stand? Joke about how she’s probably been accused of murder.
Although some cases in the OT had this problem as well, Maya was more often than not allowed to grieve. In 1-2, she’s obviously broken up about her sister’s death and is so heartbroken that she cries upon hearing the last conversation they had. In 1-4, Maya expressed her own self esteem issues revolving around her ability to channel and her usefulness to Phoenix; they got so bad, that when Von Karma attacked her with a taser, she wished the shock had killed her. In 2-2, she’s terrified at the mere thought of hurting another person and genuinely believed she killed Dr. Grey; not only that but she’s clearly devastated by her aunt framing her for murder. In 3-5, Maya’s so broken by the tragedy that has befallen her due to her heritage that she expresses that she wants nothing more to do with the Fey clan. The only reason she stayed to become the Master at all was due to Pearl. She wanted to be strong for her as Pearl was going through a lot of emotional distress; not only that, but she likely didn’t want Pearl to have to deal with vengeful family members like Morgan.
It’s really sad honestly. Not just because SOJ is the first time Maya’s been in a mainline game since 2004 but also because AA6 Maya isn’t even a terrible character. She’s still goofy and playful like her younger self, but she’s clearly matured a lot. Maya proves herself to be fully capable of accepting the responsibilities of becoming the Master of Kurain, and if anything about her talk to Rayfa is to go by, she’s matured a lot in the past 9 years since T&T. My fault isn’t with her, it’s how she was used. And I hope that AA7 or whatever game Maya’s in next doesn’t put her in danger at all. Let her live in peace, please.

The Cinema of 2019: A Literate Ape End-of-Year Review
By Don Hall and Brett Dworski
Editor’s Note:
With projects like Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Watchmen, The Mandalorian, and pretty much everything produced for the CW, we are smack dab in the epicenter of the Age of Fan Fiction. The films of 2019 have some nods to this trend with Joker, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Yesterday playing hard and loose with expanding the existing iconography to tell new stories.
We enjoyed a lot of movies in 2019. While not a banner year like 1968 or 1999, the year certainly had its standouts. Here is our end of the year list of the films that impacted us the most compiled by Don Hall and Brett Dworski, both film fans and people with acceptable vision and hearing.
NOTE: These are not ranked because generally, we believe the practice of ranking films is fucking stupid. However, we do rate them from 1 to 5 Apes. Enjoy.
Apollo 11
4 Apes (DH)
There really was a time when America was great. Sure, there was still segregation and violence, the war overseas, the draft, and the host of problems faced by the country but the men and women who took up Kennedy’s challenge to get a human being on the surface of the moon elevated us all. Apollo 11 is a documentary using entirely archival footage of this historic moment when mankind exceeded itself.
Honey Boy
1 Ape (BD)
The anticipated debut of writer Shia LaBeouf is choppy and disappointing. Newcomer Noah Jupe plays child actor Otis—based on LaBeouf—whose drunken father disrupts his recent success. The film’s inconsistencies stem across the plot, casting and performances. The father, played by LaBeouf, flops between abusive asshole and tender daddy by the minute; neither is compelling. Lucas Hedges, who plays Otis as a drug-abusing teenager, looks nothing like LaBeouf or Jupe. And once things get interesting, Otis forgives his pop and tells him he’s “going to make a movie about him.” Very original, Shia. The fact that Honey Boy is based on LaBeouf’s life is intriguing, but the film is ultimately a huge letdown.
Midsommar
4 Apes (DH)
Ari Astor gives us a twisted break up story wrapped in the bloody flowered crown of a horror film set in blinding sunlight. I loved Hereditary for a million reasons. I loved Midsommar for five: Florence Pugh, the bizarre mating ritual, the fucked up mushroom visuals, old people willingly plunging to their deaths, and a dude being stuffed into the skin of a recently slaughtered bear and burned alive.
Dolemite Is My Name
3 Apes (BD)
Eddie Murphy rewinds the clock to his Raw and Delirious days in this biopic of Rudy Ray Moore, a comedian and musician behind the Blaxploitation movement of the 1970s. While wildly erratic at times, it’s also an affectionate and sobering look at the hustle of show business. It took years for Murphy to ditch his affable family-man routine, but it was worth the wait: Dolemite Is My Name cements the raunchy, cocksure comic as one of the greatest talents of all time.
Yesterday
3 Apes (DH)
I wrote about this here. Loved it.
The Lighthouse
3 Apes (BD)
Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe are exhilarating in this delirious indie thriller. They play 19th century lighthouse keepers who struggle to maintain their sanity upon learning they’re stuck on an island off the coast of New England. The stunning black and white landscapes of Nova Scotia are overshadowed by Dafoe’s and Pattinson’s constant bickering, farting, masturbating, and binge drinking. The Lighthouse is bizarre, hilarious, terrifying, peculiar… and quite good. You’ll never view seagulls the same way after watching it.
Endgame
5 Apes (DH)
The culmination of nearly two dozen interconnected films all stemming from my Gen X childhood? I’ve been waiting since I read my first Avengers comic when I was ten years old for this and it did not disappoint. Packed with incredibly satisfying moments (Professor Hulk, Cap gets the Hammer, “...on your left...,” and “I... am... Iron Man”) this was the most fun three hours I could imagine that didn’t involve cheese or sex.
The Art of Self Defense
4 Apes (BD)
This deadpan and absurdist comedy highlights toxic masculinity through a ruthless karate class. Jessie Eisenberg plays Casey, a lonely, frightened accountant who enlists in the course after a mugging leaves him hospitalized. Led by a vain and puzzling instructor, the class soon absorbs Casey’s life and brainwashes him to commit barbaric acts beyond self-protection. Although clearly a blend of Fight Club and The Karate Kid, The Art of Self Defense carries an unusual rhythm that separates it from its predecessors—and displays a refreshing kind of filmmaking from newcomer Riley Streams.
Joker
4 Apes (DH)
The politics that suddenly surrounded this were nothing more than distraction. Was it a response to the humorless Woke culture? An Incel Fantasy? Who gives a fuck. It was a film that did something a lot of movies lately refuse to do—it surprised us. It also included an amazing, painful performance by Joaquin Phoenix and, like Logan before it, used the pop culture iconography of the comic book tropes and deepened them in ways that only a bold approach could.
High Life
4 Apes (BD)
Visually-stunning cinematography and a harrowing storyline carry High Life, one of the most daunting films of the year. Set in a futuristic world where death-row inmates are sent to conduct eerie experiments in outer space, High Life is as morbid as it is alluring. The movie—which was made in 2018 but not released in theaters until 2019—resembles a space version of The Shining with its isolation-leads-to-madness concept. While too edgy for some, High Life is one of the most uniquely made films in years.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
5 Apes (DH)
Tarantino’s homage to revisionist history, the plight of growing old and becoming replaceable, 1960s Hollywood, and chock full of snappy dialogue, incredible performances, and both a sense of celebration and melancholy makes this one of the best movies about movies ever made.
John Wick Chapter 3
5 Apes (DH)
With next year’s Keanu-mas when they release both John Wick 4 and the Matrix 4 movies on the same day (yes, I will participate fully) the franchise that spawned the newfound love for all things Reeves is absolutely worth noting. Full of that comic book/video game world-building, odd but sensible rituals and oaths and rules plus plenty of head-shot, bloody violence, I sat in a Las Vegas theater with a crowd and we all gasped, laughed, and applauded at the absolute action-porn that is John Wick. Yes, these films are pornography of comic book violence and Reeves is our big-dicked John Holmes.
The Painted Bird
5 Apes (BD)
Those seeking a feel good shan’t see The Painted Bird, a bloodcurdling Holocaust drama seen through the eyes of a child. Petr Kotlár gives a robust performance as a nameless boy fighting to survive the violent societal breakdown in Eastern Europe. In doing so, he experiences one nightmare after another—each worse than the former—and loses hope in human kindness along the way. The beautifully shot black-and-white landscapes are a mirage for the routine abuse the boy encounters, leaving audiences as numb to it as he is by the film’s end.
The Irishman
4 Apes (DH)
Scorsese caps a triptych of films over decades with this much slower but no less magnificent look into the Italian Mafia from the inside/out. Goodfellas is an Irish kid’s ascent and is an explosive young man’s movie. Casino is a Jewish man’s climb up in the Mob and, while still explosive, is a bit more subdued and a decidedly middle-aged man’s film. The Irishman is an old man’s view, looking back, reliving awful and magnificent moments.
Together, the three films mark a masterwork in a genius director’s canon.
Ad Astra
5 Apes (BD)
Ad Astra takes a different approach than most solar-system journeys by exploring the man behind the suit. Brad Pitt is Roy McBride, an accomplished astronaut whose dedication to space has damaged his marriage. When called upon for secret mission to Neptune, the stoic McBride finds he’s more than a government robot, and his ascent to madness results in one of Pitt’s finest performances. Supported by a wonderfully played asshole in Tommy Lee Jones, Ad Astra is as much a family drama as it is a space adventure.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
5 Apes (DH)
Sure, there were unanswered questions leftover and I really didn’t care for that kiss at the end but I loved this film from start to finish. Completing a story as massive and, in many ways, disconnected, was a tall order and I think Abrams and team did about as good a job as anyone could expect. This will be in rotation at least a couple more times in the next few weeks.
Marriage Story
5 Apes (BD)
Oscar-worthy performances from Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson drive Marriage Story, a clever, poignant narrative about divorce. Noah Baumbach’s behind-the-scenes view of the crippling situation separates it from movies alike, exploring factors beyond courtroom troubles and custody battles. Marriage Story empathetically—and even comically—shows both sides of the fight, and its effect will last far beyond the screen. Get your box of tissues ready.
Alita: Battle Angel
3 Apes (DH)
Not a Manga-Boy so the inconsistencies with the story and characters didn’t bother me. I thought this was the closest to watching a dramatic video game with some cool performances and great use of camera and technology. It was also the film I saw first as a resident of Las Vegas so that counts for something at least to me.
Parasite
5 Apes (BD)
Superbly written, shot and performed, Bong Joon-ho’s account of class discrimination in Korea is an electrifying and emotional masterpiece. What begins as a lighthearted story of two families—one rich, one destitute—spirals into shocking sequences of deception. It has every element of an instant classic: witty comedy, sexual tension, thrilling violence, social themes and a stunning finale that mirrors the horrors of reality. Calling it the best movie of 2019 isn’t enough: Parasite is one of the top films of the decade and transcends the arc of modern cinema.

Step-by-Step Guide to Apollo Pharmacy Franchise: Cost, Fees, and Financial Returns
Apollo Pharmacy, a prominent brand under the Apollo Hospitals Group, has solidified its reputation as one of India's most trusted pharmacy chains. With a robust presence and emphasis on providing quality healthcare products, Apollo Pharmacy continues to expand rapidly, appealing to entrepreneurs looking to tap into the growing healthcare retail market. Before investing, it's important to consider the Apollo Pharmacy franchise cost to evaluate the financial commitment. Partnering with Apollo offers a gateway into the pharmaceutical industry with a well-established support system, strong brand recognition, and a steady customer base—an attractive proposition for those seeking a stable business opportunity in healthcare.
Step 1: Understanding the Initial Investment and Franchise Costs
Launching an Apollo Pharmacy franchise requires a comprehensive understanding of the initial costs involved. Here’s a breakdown of the primary expenses for starting a franchise.
Franchise Fee
Overview: The franchise fee grants franchisees the rights to Apollo’s brand, training, and initial setup support.
Estimated Cost: Generally, the Apollo Pharmacy franchise fee ranges from INR 2-3 lakhs.
What It Covers: The fee typically includes access to the Apollo brand, training programs, assistance with store setup, and a portion of marketing support.
Store Setup and Inventory
Location and Lease: A pharmacy should ideally be located in a high-footfall area, such as near hospitals, residential zones, or shopping areas. Leasing or purchasing the property will vary based on the specific location.
Interior Setup and Branding: Costs here include shelves, counters, display units, Apollo-branded signage, lighting, and fixtures. A professional, well-organized layout that reflects the Apollo brand is essential.
Inventory Costs: The initial stock of pharmaceuticals, OTC items, and wellness products needs to be well-rounded to cater to customer demand. The initial inventory costs can range from INR 4-6 lakhs.
Licenses and Permits
Pharmacy License: Operating a pharmacy requires specific licenses from relevant authorities, including a drug license, which is essential for selling prescription medications.
Estimated Cost: Licensing fees and permits vary, but generally budget around INR 50,000–1 lakh for these requirements.
Total Initial Investment: Based on these costs, the total initial investment generally ranges from INR 8–15 lakhs.
Step 2: Monthly Fees and Operating Expenses
In addition to the initial setup costs, operating an Apollo Pharmacy franchise involves ongoing monthly expenses.
Royalties and Marketing Fees
Royalty Structure: Apollo typically charges a royalty fee, calculated as a percentage of monthly sales revenue, which covers continued brand and operational support.
Estimated Cost: Royalty fees usually range from 5-8% of monthly revenue.
Marketing Fees: Apollo may also require a contribution toward brand-wide marketing efforts.
Operational Costs
Staffing: Salaries for pharmacists, store managers, and other staff members. Total staffing costs depend on the number of employees and regional salary standards.
Utilities and Rent: Rent, electricity, and other utilities will vary by location, but these costs should be anticipated as part of regular expenses.
Inventory Replenishment: Keeping the inventory stocked with essential medications and health products is crucial. Monthly restocking costs typically range from INR 1-2 lakhs, depending on sales volume and inventory turnover.
Step 3: Potential Earnings and Financial Returns
Operating an Apollo Pharmacy franchise has multiple revenue streams and opportunities for profit. Here’s an outline of the potential earnings and returns.
Product Sales and Margins
Prescription Medications and OTC Products: The primary revenue comes from prescription medications, OTC drugs, and wellness products. Margins for pharmaceutical products can range from 10-20% for medications and 20-30% for wellness and personal care items.
Additional Health Products: Health supplements, skincare products, and first-aid essentials offer higher profit margins and can supplement overall revenue.
Additional Services
Health Services: Some Apollo Pharmacy locations provide basic health services, such as blood pressure checks and minor diagnostics, which help attract repeat customers.
Special Promotions: Running customer loyalty programs and promotions can boost customer retention, thus increasing revenue.
Return on Investment (ROI)
Break-Even Timeline: Many franchisees achieve profitability within 18-24 months. This varies based on location, customer demand, and management effectiveness.
Growth Potential: As demand for healthcare services continues to rise, well-performing stores may consider expanding to additional locations or adding complementary health services, enhancing profitability.
Step 4: Application Process and Requirements
If you’re interested in starting an Apollo Pharmacy franchise, it’s important to understand the application process and what Apollo looks for in potential franchisees.
Eligibility Criteria
Experience: While experience in retail or healthcare is advantageous, it’s not always required. However, having a basic understanding of business management can be beneficial.
Financial Stability: Franchisees should demonstrate the financial capability to meet initial and ongoing expenses.
Application Steps
Inquiry: Submit an inquiry through Apollo’s official website or contact their franchise team.
Initial Review: Apollo reviews the application and, if selected, provides a proposal.
Site Selection and Approval: Apollo conducts a feasibility check on the proposed location to ensure it aligns with the brand’s requirements.
Agreement Signing: If the site is approved, the franchisee and Apollo finalize and sign the franchise agreement.
Setup and Training: Apollo provides training and support, including guidance on inventory management, customer service, and compliance with pharmacy regulations.
Support from Apollo
Training Programs: Franchisees receive comprehensive training on daily operations, customer service, and compliance with healthcare standards.
Marketing and Brand Support: Apollo Pharmacy assists with brand-wide advertising and marketing strategies, which are beneficial for local market penetration.
Ongoing Operational Support: Apollo provides operational resources and ongoing guidance to help franchisees manage and grow their business.
Step 5: Tips for Success in the Pharmacy Business
Running a successful pharmacy franchise goes beyond initial investment and involves strategic planning and effective management. Here are some tips to help ensure success:
1. Choose a High-Traffic Location
Positioning the pharmacy near hospitals, residential complexes, or commercial hubs can enhance foot traffic and improve sales. High-traffic locations can accelerate ROI and attract a steady stream of customers.
2. Prioritize Customer Service
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and efficient service create a positive experience, encouraging repeat visits and word-of-mouth referrals. Building good customer relationships is key in the healthcare sector.
3. Manage Inventory Efficiently
Maintaining a balanced inventory is essential to prevent overstocking and wastage. Monitor demand patterns to keep popular items stocked and avoid shortages of essential medicines.
4. Engage in Community Marketing
Conducting community health camps or workshops can raise local awareness and build goodwill. Engaging with the community helps the pharmacy become a go-to health resource.
Conclusion: Is an Apollo Pharmacy Franchise Right for You?
Owning an Apollo Pharmacy franchise is a promising venture in the healthcare industry, offering the opportunity to run a profitable business with the support of an established and reputable brand. The initial investment typically ranges between INR 8-15 lakhs, and with effective management, franchisees can expect to break even within 18-24 months. This franchise opportunity appeals to those passionate about healthcare and customer service, providing a chance to make a positive impact on the community while achieving financial returns. For aspiring entrepreneurs committed to building a stable, service-oriented business, an Apollo Pharmacy franchise could be a rewarding choice.

Apollo Pharmacy Franchise Cost for Business
Starting a business with a trusted brand like Apollo Pharmacy can be a lucrative opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs. Apollo Pharmacy is a leading pharmacy chain in India, known for its wide range of pharmaceutical products and services. If you are interested in joining this network by owning a franchise, understanding the Apollo Pharmacy franchise cost is crucial to plan your investment. In this post, we will break down the costs, benefits, and process of starting a franchise.
What is Apollo Pharmacy?
Apollo Pharmacy, part of the Apollo Hospitals group, is one of the largest pharmacy chains in India. It offers a wide array of over-the-counter and prescription medicines, health supplements, wellness products, and diagnostic services. The brand is known for its customer-centric approach and high-quality products, making it a preferred choice for millions across the country.
Apollo Pharmacy Franchise: Why Should You Consider It?
There are several reasons why opening a franchise could be a good business decision:
Brand Recognition: Apollo Pharmacy is a trusted name in the healthcare sector. A franchise with this brand allows you to leverage its reputation and established customer base.
Wide Product Range: The franchise provides a vast assortment of pharmaceutical products, medical devices, and health supplements, ensuring that you can cater to a diverse range of customers.
Training and Support: Apollo Pharmacy offers comprehensive training programs and ongoing support to help franchise owners run their stores efficiently.
Operational Assistance: Franchise owners receive assistance in site selection, store setup, inventory management, and marketing, making the process of running the store much easier.
Apollo Pharmacy Franchise Cost
When considering a franchise, one of the most important factors to assess is the initial investment. The franchise cost is made up of several components, and understanding these will help you determine whether this business opportunity fits your budget. Here are the key expenses involved:
1. Franchise Fee
The franchise fee is the initial payment made to Apollo Pharmacy to acquire the rights to operate the business under their brand name. This fee typically ranges from ₹5 lakhs to ₹10 lakhs, depending on the location and the size of the store. This fee grants you the permission to use the brand name and access to various services and support from Apollo Pharmacy.
2. Real Estate and Infrastructure Costs
To operate a franchise, you will need a retail space in a prime location. The size of the store can vary depending on the area and local market demands, but it typically requires a space of around 300 to 500 square feet. The cost of real estate will depend on your location—rent in metro cities or high-traffic areas will naturally be higher. On average, you can expect to pay anywhere from ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakhs per month in rent.
Additionally, you will need to invest in store setup, including interior design, shelves, refrigeration units (for temperature-sensitive products), and signage. The total infrastructure cost is estimated to be around ₹5 lakhs to ₹15 lakhs.
3. Inventory Investment
Inventory is a significant part of your ongoing expenses. Apollo Pharmacy offers a wide range of pharmaceutical products, and you must maintain a substantial stock to meet the demands of your customers. The initial inventory investment can range from ₹5 lakhs to ₹10 lakhs, depending on the size of your store and the product variety you plan to offer. The brand will assist you in choosing the right mix of products based on your target market. Read More Haldiram franchise cost.
4. Marketing and Advertising Costs
To make your pharmacy successful, you will need to invest in local advertising and promotional activities. Apollo Pharmacy provides support in the form of national marketing campaigns, but you will also need to engage in local marketing, such as distributing flyers, and banners, and hosting health camps or workshops to attract customers. Marketing expenses can vary but are typically in the range of ₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakhs annually.
5. Staff Salaries and Operational Costs
Running a pharmacy requires trained staff, including pharmacists, sales associates, and support staff. The cost of hiring and paying salaries will depend on your location and the size of your operation. On average, you can expect to pay around ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh per month for staff salaries.
In addition to staff wages, there are other operational costs, such as utilities (electricity, water, internet), transportation, and ongoing maintenance. These costs can range from ₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakhs per year.
Ongoing Royalty Fees
Along with the initial costs, you must also consider the ongoing royalty fees. Apollo Pharmacy charges a royalty fee of 3% to 5% of the monthly sales. This fee helps in maintaining the quality of the franchise, ongoing support, and access to the brand’s marketing efforts. The royalty fee is typically paid every month.
How Profitable is a Franchise?
The profitability of your franchise depends on various factors, such as location, the range of products offered, and local demand. However, Apollo Pharmacy provides a solid foundation for franchisees with its established brand reputation and comprehensive support. The pharmacy industry, especially the retail pharmacy segment, has shown steady growth, making it a potentially profitable venture.
The average break-even period for a franchise is around 2 to 3 years. This means that with good management, strong customer engagement, and consistent sales, you can start seeing a return on your investment within this time frame. After that, the profits can continue to increase as you build a loyal customer base.
Benefits of an Apollo Franchise
