So, I just found out that yesterday was the start of ASEXUAL AWARENESS WEEK! 💜🖤
Asexuality is defined as “without sexual feelings or associations.” While some aces might feel libido, we generally do not feel sexual attraction toward any other person. (Personally, I have little to no libido and am generally sex-repulsed, but sex-positive — as long as it doesn’t involve me).
I am asexual, as is about 2-3% of the population. (Which is, roughly, 227,308,000+ people). It used to be thought that only 1% of the population was ace, but that isn’t the case — we’re not the most common group of people, but we are out there.
Unfortunately, asexuals aren’t portrayed very much in fiction, but I have read three books with ace characters, and I loved them all!
Bounty by J.D. Cunegan (4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) & Let’s Talk About Love by Claire (4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) & How To Be A Normal Person by T.J. (5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
I also have a Goodreads shelf of To-Reads featuring asexual and/or aromantic characters, which I will link here! 28 books total, and counting: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/45830381-britt…
Happy Asexual Awarensss Week! You’re acing it. 😎💜🖤
