"It's a good thing you're pretty" (RomEng)
Characters: Romania (Vlad)/ England (Arthur), Norway (Even)
Author's note: This was meant to be a drabble based on something I said on discord this morning but it ended up a bit longer. Basically, nobody can resist Vlad. Also fun fact, eye of newt is apparently another name for a mustard seed.
Arthur surveyed the room with a stern glint in his eyes. When making potions, he became a completely different person; practiced, precise, methodical. At least, that was what he liked to think. “We have to be careful with this. One wrong move could mess everything up,” he reminded his friends as he moved his gaze slowly between them, resting on Vlad with narrowed eyebrows. With the Romanian’s track record, it was only sensible to be worried about his presence around anything breakable.
“Eye of newt,” Arthur recited, holding his spellbook.
Even dropped a single mustard seed into the cauldron, which hit the bubbling liquid with the tiniest splash and disappeared below with a hiss.
“And just a tiny sprinkling of dried thyme.”
Vlad nodded confidently, and carefully tilted the small vial he was holding over the cauldron. So carefully in fact, that though the powder moved slightly towards the rim, none came out. His brow creasing in frustration, he tapped the end of the container, pushing it out of his own grip. He just had time to mumble, “whoops,” before a mass of smoke exploded from the cauldron.
The air was so thick with the grey gas that Arthur couldn’t see either of his friends, though he heard them coughing. He brought an arm up to shield his face with the thick sleeve of his robe. “Vlad,” he snapped though his own coughs.
The smoke cleared within seconds, but left the shelves and table covered with a dark grey film. Arthur grabbed a rag from the side – they always had one lying around in case of such an event – and began to clean the surfaces. His eyes flicked towards Vlad as he angrily scrubbed. “It’s a good thing you’re pretty,” he mumbled. “You don’t have much else going for you.”
Vlad hopped onto the table, perching on the edge where Arthur had just cleaned. His fringe fell over his face as he turned his head to the side, and he bashfully looked at Arthur through the tawny strands. “You think I’m pretty?”
“Well…” Arthur spluttered; some of that bloody smoke must be stuck in his throat. Biting the inside of his cheek, he paused in his cleaning of the room, and turned to Vlad with his eyebrows crossed in annoyance. “That’s what you got from that?”
“Well, you did just say it.” Vlad smirked, avoiding Arthur’s gaze as he looked down at his own legs which were swinging an inch above the ground.
“Yes, but I… that, I- that wasn’t my point!” Arthur insisted, his face turning red from frustration and coughing and definitely nothing else.
“Oh, Arthur…” Vlad shook his head, his voice ringing softly. There was a slight hitch in his words, a tell-tale sign that he was just holding back a giggle. “It’s alright, you don’t have to be so embarrassed.” He slipped off the table, slowly sauntering towards Arthur.
Arthur took a step backwards, but froze when Vlad’s fingers loosely encircled his wrist.
“Now… you don’t really want me to clean up all this mess, do you?” Vlad tilted his head to the side with a smile.
Arthur wanted to scoff. Did Vlad think him to be an idiot? Of course he was immune to anyone’s charm. His knees definitely didn’t feel weak when Vlad touched him, and his heart certainly didn’t beat faster with every step his friend took towards him. He could have looked away from Vlad’s mesmerising smile is he wanted to, but… he needed to stand his ground. Yes, that was it. He was just staring Vlad down and totally not getting lost in his eyes.
Vlad held his gaze for a few seconds before breaking away, laughing. “I’m kidding! I’ll help you clean it.” He picked up a dirty rag, which only succeeded in smearing the grime around.
Arthur shook his head fondly. Vlad was… strange to say the least, but endearing in his own way, and Arthur couldn’t help but have his eyes drawn to him whenever he entered a room, which may or may not have something to do with the way his hair curled behind his ears or the sparkle in his eyes when he was excited.
“Hey Arthur!” Vlad called out to him, a smirk on his face a he dusted a shelf. The cloth caught on a jar, which happened to be filled with a very expensive potion. Vlad grasped it just as it tipped off the shelf, his smirk never faltering as he looked Arthur dead in the eye.
Arthur removed his hands from where he’d been clutching his head, trying to ignore the shriek that had escaped his lips seconds earlier. Sighing, he realised this wouldn’t be the end of similar shenanigans. Vlad could get away with anything now that he knew Arthur’s biggest weakness: him. Life was sure to get a lot more interesting…

Lukas smiles and sets down his phone, heading outside to plan his surprise for the evening.
A little more than two hours later, everything is set up perfectly. The garden is dotted with light, the trees appearing filled with stars. Fairy lights are strung from tree to tree, sparkling brightly in different colors.
Real fairies also lend their magic to the garden, their soft glow lighting what the fairy lights can't touch. A few unicorns are grazing at the grass nearby, their quiet nickers filling the air.
Lukas nods, a faint smile pulling at his lips. "It looks perfect." He says to the fairies, "Thank you all for doing this."
He receives a chorus from the fairies, all of them wanting him to know it's no trouble for them. They're always willing to help those that believe in them and can see them.
The Norwegian's smile widens and he heads inside, working to prepare a feast of Arthur and Vladimir's favorite foods as well as his own. That takes another hour and the sun is just beginning to set when he starts plating the food outside.
A quick wave of his wand and a simple charm combine to make sure the food will stay warm until the others arrive. Once everything is ready, Lukas pulls out his phone and texts the other Magic Trio members that they can make their way home now.
They both respond fairly quickly, each expressing their own degree of excitement for what the Norwegian has planned.
Lukas meets them at the door, two roses in hand. "Welcome home, mine kjære." He says, tucking the roses behind their ears, his heart warming at the soft blushes on their face.
"Are you two hungry?" Lukas looks between them. Arthur nods while Vladimir gives a fanged grin and a sharp nod. "Good. Come with me." He offers a hand to each, "Mind closing your eyes for me?"
Arthur and Vladimir give him a curious look and shut their eyes, letting him lead them to the garden. Their magical senses give them a clue that something's different about their yard, but they wait until Lukas tells them to open their eyes to see for themselves.
Emerald and ruby eyes widen as their owners look around in awe. "It's beautiful." Arthur breathes, Vlad giving a distracted nod in agreement.
"You did all this in three hours?!" Vladimir turns to Lukas when it sinks in and the Norwegian nods, a faint pink coloring his cheeks.
"Ja, I wanted to surprise you both."
Arthur turns to him with a soft smile, "Well, it looks amazing."
Lukas returns the smile a bit shyly, "Takk. Come on, let's eat."
He gets a nod from both nations and they walk over to the beautifully set table, Arthur and Vlad throwing him appreciative smiles when they see their favorite foods.
They spend the rest of the evening in the garden, even when all the food is gone. The trio ends up cuddled together on the grass looking up at the stars.
The whole time, Lukas has a small smile on his face, glad that his boyfriends both enjoyed his idea.

Any ship/Character "This, this is why we don't use Ouija boards!"
Thanks for the request! I decided to go with some RomEng because there isn't enough of them XD
“But Arthur, why not?” Arthur taunted, in a high-pitched mocking impression of his boyfriends voice. “But Arthur, I’m sure nothing will go wrong. Nothing will go wrong, my arse!” He ducked behind the sofa as a chessboard hurtled across the room. Though he glared as the pieces clattered and scattered to the floor, he reached to tightly grasp Vlad’s hand. “This, this is why we don’t use Ouija boards!”
Vlad craned his neck around, peering over the back of the sofa to see what the poltergeists were doing, and yelped as something flew past his head. “Well, you didn’t have to insult them!” He insisted in a frantic whisper.
“Hmph.” Arthur tried to look dismissive, as if he couldn’t care less. But the protective arm he’d placed across Vlad’s body when he heard him shout showed that the opposite was true. “I’ll have to exorcise them,” he mumbled, glancing over to his bookcase of spellbooks, which would be near impossible to reach without being pelted with attacks from the invisible spirits.
“Are you sure you don’t want to call Even? Or Larysa? They’d be able to deal with this.” Vlad suggested.
“I can handle this situation just as well as either of them could, thank you very much,” Arthur grumbled. At the lack of response from Vlad, he turned only to see him smirking.
“Arthur…” Vlad teased, his tone coy and his eyes glinting. “Are you jealous?”
“Pfft. What? No, of course not.” Arthur flushed. “I just don’t think it’s worth calling anyone over here when I can do this myself.”
Vlad shook his head softly, tilting it to let his fringe fall across his face. “Oh, I think you are… just a little bit.” He brushed his fingers over Arthur’s cheek.
“Vlad, stop trying to distract me, I need to deal with this,” Arthur muttered, though he leaned into Vlad’s touch, blinking slowly. Slowly, he brushed the strands out of Vlad’s eyes, letting the soft tawny hair fall through his fingers.
“Actually.” Vlad pulled away from him, leaving Arthur with a strange sense of cold that he tried to push down immediately. “Why have they stopped?”
“Vlad, don’t-” Arthur reached to stop him from standing up, but the other shrugged him off.
To Arthur’s surprise, Vlad’s face broke into a smile as he looked across the room. “Even! Larysa! What are you guys doing here?”
As Arthur got to his feet, he saw Larysa slip a wand back inside her long leather boot, and Even slide his magical cross clip back into his hair.
“Viktor called us and said he’d heard noise from your flat. Thought you might’ve summoned something we’d have to deal with.” Even shrugged.
“They were rookie level poltergeists,” Larysa teased. “Only took a wave of my wand, I’m surprised you didn’t deal with them yourself.”
Arthur opened his mouth to retort, but Vlad put an arm around his waist before he could argue. He sighed, not looking at the smirk he knew Vlad and Larysa would be sharing, and instead listened as Even explained the wards he’d put up to ensure the poltergeists couldn’t return. He made a mental note to throw out the old Ouija board so Vlad wouldn’t be tempted to use it again.
