//in my headcanon, Phili was in the Philippines at the time, and because this was an unplanned trip, only Manila (who often serves as an assistant to the President) was able to join the trip to Mexico

Notes:

President Manuel Quezon was known to have a habit of changing travel plans. I would imagine this would be troublesome, considering that he was a President, and Ph foreign affairs was handled by the U.S.

In April 1937, after a trip to Washington, Quezon decided to go on a personal trip to Mexico before going back to the Philippines. [link]

He sent word to the Cuban ambassador that he was coming as a tourist, so there is no need for honors due to him as President. But when he arrived, the country threw a fiesta for him anyway, complete with military honors, cheering crowds, fancy presidential car, etc. 

The first 250 yrs of Spanish rule, the Ph was governed through Nueva España. And because the Philippines wasn’t a profitable colony, Nueva España was paying for the deficit from its own treasury.

oh anon, you’re absolutely right!!!! i think phili loves indulging himself a lot with expensive stuff every once in a while, but at his heart he’s just a simple guy who likes finding joy in everything and sharing that joy with everyone. for that reason i’ve always seen him living in either tondo, manila or somewhere in cavite (that’s assuming he’s living somewhere in/near ncr just to be close to the capital) — sure, you’ll see him clubbing at bgc or shopping at glorietta or watching a show at solaire, but at the end of it all he goes home to a community full of people he loves spending time with and not just a classy, solitary apartment.

Hello! I wanted to say that your interpretation of US-Ph relations is the most balanced one i've seen in the fandom and honestly my favorite! But I wanted to ask your APH Philippines' relations with other countries? like the other SEA countries and Mexico for example? Anyways i really like your art and hope to see more of it!

oh gosh, thank you! though there’s a lot of really good PH OCs lurking in the fandom; I think @ask-felipinas and @ask2pphili are pretty great, just to name the ones I can remember from the top of my head!!

(EDIT it just came to my attention that I read the first part of the ask wrong, but I’m going to leave those shout-outs up there anyway even if they have nothing to do with what was asked because they still deserve the attention!! I’m just so sorry it had to come like this RIP)

as for relations, I think she’d get along with Mexico pretty well– both have gotten to know each other via the Manila-Acapulco galleon trade, and for a time the Philippines was technically part of New Spain and administered as such until Mexico became independent and Spain had to be more direct with his administration from then on; they’d probably hang out and make chismis with each other over hot chocolate or, if it really called for it, alcohol

as for SEA, well, it depends– generally she’s a member of ASEAN, so she more or less works with her fellow ASEAN members when needed be

she gets along with Indonesia well, and while her relationship with Malaysia is a bit more rocky due to certain disputes they’d probably be cooperative more or less– they have some shared similarities stemming from pre-colonial ties, and they’re always there for each other during disasters at the end of the day, but she’d sometimes get the feeling that Indonesia and Malaysia understand each other more than she understands both of them

oh, and she and Timor-Leste definitely have that ‘only Catholics of SEA’ solidarity

Witch

Tala: Ang Multo ng Manila City Hall (t/n: The Ghost of Manila City Hall), named after the Tagalog Goddess of the Star. Tala is a ghost from the woman who died during WW2. She haunts the enemies through dancing and singing. Her labryinth is similar to the infamous Manila City Hall.

Minions

Kang: They are the other ghosts or multo who were the prisoners, slaves and victims of the past( mostly from the Spanish period and from the Japanese occupation). Their role is to haunt the enemies with their wails of help.

More Era Au Things

What is it, exactly? 

The Era Au is basically my four APH ocs in Colonial Era Philippines. The story is set somewhere around Manila/Southern Luzon in the 1890s.

Karmella (2p!PH) is a sheltered noblewoman, Gabi (1p!PH) is her trusty handmaiden. Simon (2p!NyoPH) is a soldier who’s part of the guardia civil, Marcelo (NyoPH) is the town’s assigned lantern boy.

A revolution is brewing and its time to pick a side. Three have joined the fight, one has not.

(Has angst, a little bit of romance, references to Rizal’s novels (lol)

What story-telling method will I use?

I don’t know! I find it easier to type things out than draw, but that doesn’t mean I won’t draw out my favorite parts and bits.

It might only be an event, but might turn out to be an independent project of mine <3

Marcelo is literally a light in the dark but rarely anyone ever appreciates him. :((

Walls and alleys hide a lot more secrets than you think. Just find the right people and ask the right questions.

As for the romance part: theres Gabi yearning/pining for quite a long time, Karmella (probably) has a secret lover/pen pal from overseas. 

Marcy valuing friendship more than romance and Simon being the funky little aromantic he is.

Oh also this is also a Human AU so uhm,, Death is permanent. As much as I hate it ;;;

Actually no, but coincidentally I had a great grandmother from my dad’s side that had the same name, except that it’s Spanish. 

When was the last time you cried?

A week ago at a Wednesday night. It was because my sister was crying and I tend to be very empathetic towards her, so even I started to cry. 

Do you have kids?

No. If I list down all my fictional kids we’ll be here all day with me telling you why I love them. 

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Its hard for me to notice. Probably not, well at least directly towards people. My brother says I’m sassy, but sass isn’t necessarily equivalent to sarcasm. 

What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Hair, eyes, and or nose. It would depend which ones would stand out more at times. And I would notice the nose a lot since I don’t have one lmao

Kids seem to like looking at me. I think it’s because I look funny. Idk, does that count?

Mh, I’m bad with sports. I’m pretty good with badminton I guess.

My Eighteen Years

As a requirement in my subject Empowerment Technology, my professor assigned us to make a personal blog. At first, I found it exciting even though I’m not good in writing but yea, I will try my best hahaha! I hope you guys will appreciate this “blog” of mine. Also, you can share this to inspire others! Thanks!!

I’m Suzanne Anorico from Philippines in the province of Binangonan, Rizal. Livin’ here in my 18th year and currently a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) senior high school student in Angono Private High School.  So, I’m also planning to take Medical Technology in college in Far Eastern University Manila and if God will give me the chance, I will continue master’s degree.

I’m the youngest among my siblings. My grandfather is a pastor, so I’m raised up in a “strict” family. As a teenager, it is difficult but I understand that they just want the best for me. And I thank God for that. J

I love music and I’m currently playing my violin which I named Mint since I was a grade 7. I’m also became part of an orchestra in our school, the APHS Chamber Music Ensemble. All I can say, I’ve learned a lot from it not just in music but also in life.

Now, I thank God for everything He has done for me. I don’t regret anything that happens to me, bad or good memories because it made me even stronger. To God be all the Glory!
