Muse | Revenant x Reader
Where the artistic reader observes him.
Word count: 974
Muse
Your hand slowly hovers over the overworked sheet of your most recent sketchbook, careful not to accidentally brush down the second page and smudge anything, having learned from prior mistakes.
You have A pencil in hand as you create feather-light lines over the once-white sheet, careful not to make any mistakes, though they eventually happen.
However, with every mistake you turn the writing utensil, the eraser gently dabbing the spot before you gently blow over it, little shavings flying off with the gust landing anywhere else on the ship.
Your technique is almost memorizing as You treated the piece delicately, like a new life to this world, needing all of the tenderness of the world.
Every stroke is tender, accented by that look in your eye that's entirely too soft, too devoted, and far too precious.
-It's all the mechanical competitor can describe you as, truth behind every word despite the smoking tone he might persist in using when voicing the observation.
If only you knew how many of his teasing jabs were true praises
Soon, you look satisfied as you look down at your work, the overall expression one that's pleased after so much time has progressed.
The Travel to the new location had lasted half an hour, and you hadn't seemed to think it was too long, holding no complaints unlike some of the other legends who spoke among themselves about the new map.
Friendly chatter existed for good reason as you were all there to become familiar with the area, and nothing more, but you hadn't seemed to partake in any of it, offering nothing but a simple nod here and there when addressed.
-And Revenant was sure you were hardly paying attention each time.
That's how preoccupied you'd been.
He relished that focus of yours because the more the simulacrum trained his gaze on your eyes, the more he was enthralled by the charming way they glimmer.
Slowly, he shifted, and he noted his little move made your lips pout.
You seemed a tad bit annoyed, lightly tilting your head to look back at him from a diffrent angle, something that had made Revenant feel wary the first time he'd caught you.
He wasn't one to trust anyone, but soon after, he hardly considered it anything to be cautious of when he studied you more.
Especially when he realized you had tended to draw him, and only him.
You found him a frequent muse for whatever reason he didn't care to ask. After the discovery, he chose not to prod with questions, especially when he'd learned that all it took to make you frown was a slight shift in his position.
So he benefitted from it too...
"Heh..." A faint huff leaves him as he sees you try and find new focus with his movement.
He can't help but notice everything about your little expressions.
It's both fascinating and annoying at the same time.
Fascinating, as such simple actions can affect your mood, and irksome how he noticed the shifts and their meanings like no one else could.
He'll admit your little frowns are ...cute.
And of course, The fact that the thing you are so invested in is him is flattering too.
-really.
He watches you with his stern gaze, observing every movement, just as you do his.
And during all that time, he can't help but wonder what is happening inside your head while you recreate his image.
A slight crack in his usually stoic steel is made apparent when he realizes just how much he reveres you, especially during these moments when you do nothing to try and impress him.
You do nothing but exist, and he's caught in suspense.
He feels something he didn't think he was capable of, and it makes him uncomfortable, enough to cower.
He looks away before you can see the tiny flicker in his yellow eyes, an indicator of his interest, of something far beyond dismissiveness or even repugnance that he should feel.
He tries to ignore it.
He wants to ignore it but as time progresses he feels mortified by it.
He crosses his arms over his chest as he tries to calm down, but he still can't help stealing glances at you and the piece you're creating -which is near completion.
He feels something when he looks at your finished art piece... because he likes it.
You have a way of making him look beautiful.
You're bold as you look over to him again, this time offering him a soft smile, holding just a bit of appreciation as, by this point, he'd have to know what you've been doing.
-And has done nothing to discourage you.
Not even a snarl was thrown your way.
-And how could he?
He's noticed that you seem more interested in him lately.
The way you watch him, the way you draw him so devoutly.
The way your eyes glint whenever he walks past, keen on every one of his limbs as though you tried to understand their mechanics; trying to figure him out both inside and out.
The way you smile whenever you look at him, whether you think he's looking or not.
His crossed arms tighten and he finally averts his gaze, trying to look away.
'Ugh,'
You make it hard for him not to like you, and it's conflicting.
He's not supposed to feel anything, but these damned feelings of fondness keep creeping up on him, each time stronger as they reemerge.
He's supposed to be a cold, emotionless, heartless killing machine.
That, was his reputation, not whatever he was now, what he is in your presence.
A tired sigh leaves him as he looks away, muttering dejectedly, "Stupid skinsuit,"
He only hopes the ride doesn't last any longer because he doesn't know how much more he can take this.

I was wondering, since Rev has Six and the other prowlers he takes care of, what would he think of a Legend S/o who takes care of Prowlers, Spiders and Flyers for the games? Like they own some and they usually go to World’s Edge, Kings Canyon and Storm Point before they are in Rotation to check on the animals and they all really really like s/o when they drop by.
Okay I sort of took the vibes of this and absolutely ran with it. This is basically a plot point skeleton for a first book in a multi-book fanfiction at this point:
You never noticed Revenant between games before, as Bloodhound was always more your pace with a commonality in caring for beasts, until one day you were running behind.
The Flyers were upset that day, as were the Spiders. You ended up having to spend way more time to feed both, and you didn't even get a chance to get close to them in order to check their condition.
By the time you reached the Prowlers, you understood why.
Nothing quite like a 6'7" tall metal maniac holding a young, injured dinosaur like a beloved puppy to get you to pay attention.
He was not pleased to see you.
He was immediately accusatory: why weren't you there sooner? Something about how bad this could have been, and how he can't stand the use of prowlers as fodder for entertainment, and that they deserve care or to be let go.
Oddly enough, you agree with the oversized villain character of the Apex Games.
You interrupt him to ask what exactly is wrong, since it needs to be addressed immediately.
"Blood scale" is no sooner uttered than you jumping over the prowler in his arms to try to find the lethal bleed.
He shoves you away, and you hear him say it.
"I took care of it, skinbag."
He... he did?
He flicks a bloody, hollow scale in your direction. Most of the blood has drained, but it clearly was a blood scale.
You spent eight years in school to become a veterinarian with a focus on neozoology and exotic animals, became a specialist in some of the most dangerous fauna on this side of the Outlands, and pushed the present understanding of medical knowledge on these species youself just for some simulacrum at work to "take care of it" himself.
He reels back a bit as you stare at him, letting the prowler leap from his arms while panting happily, letting it's tongue loll out.
After that encounter, Revenant could not escape your notice, much to his annoyance for a few months.
You would seek him out to present questions about prowlers aloud near him, much like you would with Caustic for the spiders. Like Caustic, Revenant would often sigh loudly in frustration while answering the complex question like it was elementary knowledge.
He became an invaluable resource.
Caustic never came around to liking you, but Revenant got used to you.
Finally, Revenant would start "appearing" when you would make your usual rounds to the battlefields' prowler dens.
You are surprised to find that Revenant's presence does not upset the prowlers, but rather calms them down.
He started by just watching you take care of the prowlers: taking blood labs, treating small injuries, providing meat fortified with necessary vitamins and minerals, administering basic medicines to the sick, and tagging newborns for tracking.
Then you tried checking on a prowler with a broken leg, which would usually call for careful euthanasia due to how dangerous it can be if the prowler lashes out in pain.
You thought you could help, but trying to set the leg proved too painful.
The bite would have killed you instantly, if it reached you.
Revenant took the bite with his own body, holding the snout in place around his leg to give you time to set the break, splint it, and hard cast it.
He began stepping in to help you after that, and it became an unacknowledged standard for you to give the prowlers better and more in-depth care in exchange for his invulnerablility, knowledge, and strength.
It started to become the best part of your job.
You began getting to the prowlers first, and spending a bit longer with them.
Eventually, he started following you to take care of the flyers and spiders too, although he clearly was a bit more out of his depth in those situations.
He was able to adjust to the flyers fairly easily, but the spiders and him seem to have a respectful hatred of one another.
The spider eggs are no problem for him, and even freshly hatched spiders do not affect him much; but the massive, drop-ship sized adults are a different story.
Given their venom is caustic and turns his body to a rusting, oxidizing mess: fair enough. You agree with him, but moreso because of the fangs that are almost as tall and wide as you.
Thankfully, so long as they're well-fed and it's the daytime, they don't have much interest in you.
Revenant, however...
If the spiders become aware of Revenant, they will either threat pose at him until he backs away or gently approach him to reach for him.
He's not fond of the latter behavior, likely because he's not fond of having younger, smaller males trying to attach a spawning web to him.
It's funny, to watch his smaller frame hiding in a crevasse from a massive spider who has mistaken him for a possible mate.
Revenant rapidly became the prettiest (and most docile) bachelorette at the ball, likely on account of not killing and eating the males like the females normally would.
At the same time, he plays the hardest to get, leaving you snickering back at the dropship to handle paperwork.
He hates it, obviously, but he sticks around anyway.
Finally, one time a male managed to attach a ball of spawning silk to him, and that was the first time you got to help Revenant back.
Back at the facility, after a very uncomfortable and sticky ride back from Storm Point, you were able to carefully use acetone and a paint scraper to get the webbing off of him.
Revenant was about as cooperative as the prowlers, growling and complaining with each long scrape.
Some of his paint comes off with the webbing, but he doesn't seem to care so long as his evidence of being the target of a male spider's love and affection is gone.
You promise in the privacy of his living space that you won't tell anyone about it, and thank him for always being around to help you
He immediately shoots down your thanks verbally, insisting it means nothing to him
"As long as the prowlers are taken care of, I don't give a damn"
He mumbles about wishing they weren't a part of the Apex Games, right as you scrape off the last clump of webbing
He tries to get up to leave, but you stop him to wipe him down with acetone, just to be sure the adhesive slime isn't lingering.
He's sticky beyond compare, and the acetone-soaked rag strips off paint with the adhesive.
You have to carefully hit every crevasse to clean, which rapidly reveals he's...
Ticklish?
As the paint is stripped from the metal plating, Revenant contorts, jerks, huffs, and gasps randomly as you gently rub the rims and edges of his chassis.
He's clearly embarrassed and uncomfortable, causing you to instinctively apologize while insistently cleaning him.
He reminds you of most of your patients: large, able to kill you in a single motion, and yet vulnerable in some way.
And that's when you got fully attached to sticking close to him.
He invited you to sleep on his couch for the first time, especially as long as it took to finish cleaning him.
You insisted you "couldn't" because you needed to stay up until he was fully taken care of, which included repainting the stripped areas.
Honestly, you were completely exhausted and not all there at that point, but he let you help him repaint his chassis.
Between the paint fumes, sleep deprivation, and exhaustion, you passed out in his room.
After that night, Revenant wouldn't stop sticking to your side. You caught his attention, and you weren't getting away from him.

Touch
Revenant x Reader Oneshot
Content disclaimer:

Gender Neutral reader
Masterlist
"Stop touching it."
"..."
"I said stop."
"..."
"Have you gone deaf or something?? I said stop touching my scythe!" he snapped, yanking the weapon away from you. He still made sure it didn't hurt you, even though he was pretty annoyed by your actions.
You look up at him from your seat next to him on the couch. You made the most innocent and saddest face you could muster.
"Don't make that face at me. The scythe is not a toy." he said, glaring at you.
You make a pouty face, still looking at him intently. "Well, with the way you mess around with it sometimes, says otherwise." you say back, crossing your arms over your chest.
There was a long pause.
He leans closer to you. "You know why I can, unlike you?" he asks, voice barely above a whisper.
You didn't give a response, just kept staring at him. He continued, "Because you're made of soft flesh that can easily be cut and I'm not. I can keep playing with it all I want since there's no risk." as he kept on going, he was leaning closer and closer.
Somewhere during that reply he came so close that you gave up the façade and started leaning backwards.
After a while, you were laying on your back while he was leaning over you, arms by the sides of your head, holding himself up. Now you're completely trapped, your mouth slightly open. You can feel the tips of your ears, as well as your face, starting to heat up.
The anticipation was through the roof. He has teased you before, it's very in character for him, but never like this! It had been only teasing words before, he never went as far as being this close to you.
Yes he had gotten in your personal space before, but it was never in an uncomfortable way.
You didn't even think he had this in him. He's always been just a grumpy simulacrum, yes he had his moments of kindness, but he hasn't acted so… sensual before…
"And you know what else?"
His face is almost touching yours now. There's a brief silence, only your breathing being audible.
"It's mine, not yours. So stop touching it."
He swiftly backs away and goes back to his original sitting position beside you.
You just stayed there, staring at the ceiling, replaying the recent events in your head.
He had been so close to you…
You sit up abruptly, glaring at him.
"What?" he asks without looking at you.
You huff. Turning away from him.
You hear a quiet chuckle leave him. Then you decide that's enough for you and leave to go to your bedroom.
Before closing the door, you hear heavy metal footsteps approaching…
I haven't written any kind of fanfic since 2017, hope this was decent. <3

𝙁𝙀𝘽𝙐𝙒𝙃𝙐𝙈𝙋 ‘𝗢𝟭 ; 𝙒𝙄𝙏𝙃 𝙍𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙉𝘼𝙉𝙏 [TOUCH STARVED]
a submitted request from a03 <33 think this could’ve been better really. my take on it 🕴🏼
warnings ;; angst, possible mild language, mentions of gore and injury, pre-relationship, technically assisted murder/suicide, not too sure etc.
by qtipcottonbuds 2023. do not repost.
𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝗫 𝗚𝗡!𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗥;
Revenant can be gentle, is what he tells himself. He is more than capable of being gentle. Yet, the hiss he lets out over the comms is anything but - a harsh dismissal, that he’ll deal with it. The majority of the time, regardless of his randomised teammates within the games, take the bait immediately. He is more than capable (and he hates it). Ash more often than not looks at him blankly, milky white receptors unfaltering, but it's a look of concern, pity. He hates that too; he’s glad he’s not stuck with her this time. Too little questions and too much noise.
He knows you're staring at him, up from where you’re slumped into his chest. The reddish HUD infographic is ever present in the corner of his eye, picking up your heart rate, erratic and jerky. It used to unsettle him, the automated monitoring of a steady heartbeat, only to be snuffed out within seconds. It wasn’t so much of the visuals that bothered him, but the soft, rhythmic beeping - not loud, but audible enough if you took the time to focus and tune into it.
He isn’t sure though, when this started to happen. To become a habit. You’d never admitted openly that you feared death - you didn’t relish in it either. It was something to be done, a natural stage of the life cycle; but the Apex Games would force your hand. Kill or be killed. But, he found himself actively seeking you out, observant on who had been eliminated. Most Legends would draw out the kill, often tapping into repressed parts of themselves. And Revenant understood that, more than anyone. If emotion was fueling the motive, it made it all the more satisfactory. This was a blood sport for money, though. Not grudges.
A hand curls around his wrist (receptors whirring at the sensation, because he is not used to kindness, not then, and not now, even as-) carelessly, no real regard and too soft for the given situation, yet you’re staring up at him, smiling weakly, bloody teeth and all.
“...You’ll be quick, right? Like, like last time…?” The words are forced, rattling around and out with harsh wheezes.
You’d probably caught onto his gaze occasionally flickering over to your watch, the expiration timer decreasing by the second.
He doesn’t answer immediately. He doesn’t have to, there’s no obligation - and there’s a weight on the tip of his synthetic tongue, uncomfortably heavy; he’ll do it anyway. You deserve that.
So he settles for a short nod.
You beam at him, weakly rubbing a thumb, albeit coated in drying blood, over his wrist. A silent thank you.
Lanky fingers, metallic and cylindrical, graze across your wrinkled shirt, matted with fresh blood. He then places his palm flat against your ribcage, just short of where your heart is, waiting. Alive - even if it’s for a little bit longer. The thrum of the muscle is there, muted, struggling to supply blood to where it was needed most. Revenant found something about that awfully endearing, and at times, times like this, he wishes he were human. Flesh against flesh.
You don't stop him either, even as you wince against the slight pressure. Instead you smile warmly, sometimes unknowingly, as you watch on. Watch him. You’d mentioned in passing, that he made death a little easier to handle, especially if it was that quick.
He prefers not to look at you during your final moments.
Even as cradling your jaw, staring at you with milky white receptors, blinking, before harshly jerking your jaw to the side - the weight of your head crumpling in his grasp
His hand trails up towards your jaw, cradling it with limited tenderness given his capacity, vacant eyes glancing at the weak rising and falling of your ribcage before harshly jerking your head to the side - everything else reducing to static - the weight of your head crumpling in his grasp.
A part of him questions if it’s fitting to punish himself like this.

"New Killl Leader" "You're the new kill leader friend! Good job!" Pathfinder exclaims as you picked him up after soloing a 1v3 and miraculously winning.
"Recharging shields!" Pathfinder says as he uses his shields cells. "Hey! Get me up skinsuit!" Revenant yelled from the ground. You looked towards Pathfinder who was looting one of the death boxes.
You slowly walked up to Revenant. "Awe, are you mad I finished off Loba instead of you doing it?" You teased. He growled in annoyance.
"Just get me back in the fight before I cut off that little stupid head of yours Skinsuit!" He yelled.
"Wow! That's a very mean thing to say friend! Why can't we all just stick together as a team-" You saw that Revenant was about to shout an insult to the MRVN so you quickly took out your hand from Revenant to grab.
He looked at it in disgust and grabbed it with a lot of grip and strength. "Ow! What the fuck Rev!?" You yelled. "That's what you get Skinsuit. Pissing me off every damn day doing shit like this!" He yelled back.
As the two continued to bicker at each other they didn't realise that Pathfinder was trying to warn the two of an approaching enemy team.
"Then you kill that little girlie instead of reviving me to let me do it!" Revenant shouted as smoke started to emit from his overheating systems.
"Friends! I am down!" The two quickly turned towards Pathfinder who was finished off by Bangalore. Suddenly you heard a buzzing sound from beneath you and Revenant.
"ARC STAR LOOK OUT!" You yelled but it was too late. "Kill Leader Eliminated" an announcement could be heard throughout the map.
You, Revenant and Pathfinder then respawned back in the drop ship. The three of you stood in silence.
"Look what you did Skinsuit!" Revenant turned towards you. "Me?! What the hell are you on!? I wasn't the one who kept fussing about not picking someone up mid fight just so he could kill off the rest of a damn family?!" You yelled back.
Pathfinder staggered back. "Friends! Please calm down! It's not there a better way to solve this?" Pathfinder suggested.
"NO!" The two shouted not breaking eye contact from each other. "Oh okay- sorry" Pathfinder's screen flashed a :( face as he walked away.
As the two continued to glare at each other you noticed something different about Revenant.
"Rev?" You started. "What Skinsuit?!" He barked. You pointed towards your forehead in which Revenant put his hand up to.
As he looked down at his hand he was it was covered in a metallic, red and black mixed oil. "Shit..." he cursed under his breath. "I'll deal with you later Skinsuit..." he growled and walked away while one hand held a part of his leather stomach.
You found this quite strange so you decided to follow him. Sure not one of your best ideas ever but you decided to follow anyway.
You approached Revenant's room and quietly peaked inside. You saw Revenant sitting down on his bed while having several tools beside him along with a large patch of black leather.
He cut up a piece of leather to fit his 'wound' on his abdomen. You watched as he pressed the leather against himself and let out several curses under his breath.
He slowly put the leather down. "You going to stand there and watch or help me Skinsuit." He stated without looking up or in your direction. You slowly opened the door and stepped inside.
You saw that he had already wiped off the oil from his forehead. He handed you the leather. "Hold this up to my abdomen while I sew it back on." He growled.
You were tempted to tease him about needing help from a 'Skinsuit' but decided to keep some dignity.
You did just as he demanded and held up the leather. Revenant started to sew slightly struggling because of his robotic hands. He kept growling in frustration and let out some grunts of discomfort.
"Do you want me to do it?" You asked. He looked up at you and looked away. You took the needle from his hands as his hands held onto the leather.
It only took you a few minutes to sew him up and the two of you stayed silent as you cleaned off the items and tools.
"I'm not thanking you." Revenant grumbled looking away as a light pink tinted hue covered the light in his eyes.
"Sure, whatever you say Rev" You chuckled.

Oooooo, Peach!! Can we get some headcanons with the reader in a poly relationship with the two murder bots? (Can be sfw or nsfw) All the other Legends just see them as essentially the 'bloodthirsty-bot wrangler' because they're the only one who has gotten close to either of them without being murdered. I totally wanna hear your thoughts on what the dynamic would be like. I just love the idea of the Reader being Rev and Ash's little weak spot that they begrudgingly share ;~~;
Okay I was gonna be a good little fruit and wait until After I finished my other requests to do this one- but I can't. I want my treat Now. You know JUST what strikes my inspo button!
!!!Though this post is SFW (but suggestive), this blog is not. Minors and ageless blogs plz do not follow me but plz feel free to like/reblog this post!!!
Warnings: Sfw, Suggestive (only at the end), polyamory, gender neutral reader
_________
It started with Revenant when you were introduced. He tried to scare you into obedience- or at least to fall in line- and you hadn't been quick to fall to it. You came into the arena as a fresh face, a healer with a Can't Get Me Down attitude. You went hand in hand in magazines with Natalie and Makoa, labelled the Sunshines of the Arena.
Revenant didn't scare you, you made him very well aware of that. Tending to him just like you tended to anyone else. Little were you aware that he started to like you. In subtle ways he showed it; Dropping loot for you with a scoff and roll of his optics when you squealed and thanked him, to following you into the fray where you led, to small things like setting a clawed hand on your shoulder when your nerves were alight on the drop ship-- Heights. You still weren't used to them.
But he never made a move. No. Not until Ash joined the fray. And she took quite the liking to you- which you hoped for with your good first impression! She stalked around you in a circle after you wiped a squad, wiping the sweat off your forehead and cheerfully calling 'All clear!'. She'd circled you like prey, cocking her head ever so slightly and hummed an approving, "Acceptable."
Revenant, who was also on your squad, had quickly taken a stance between the two of you and snarled to keep the praise for after you'd taken championship and get a move on. Typical behavior from him, you would have never suspected the jealous static buzzing between their optics.
Ash makes her scrutiny known to you. If you impress her, she lets you know. Even her critiques are fair- something you take in stride and thank her as she helps you to your feet. Especially when one day she cups your cheek, swiping her thumb through the blood on your lower lip and humming low once more with a, "You are hurt." And aiding you before you could even say anything.
Jokingly, the other legends started calling you the 'Murderbot Romancer'. Something you didn't take seriously and brushed them off with a 'They're just friendly once you get to know them!'
Uhuh. Sure.
~Rest under the cut~
You end up being thrown for a loop when Revenant, during a match, pulls you close by your waist and snarls at Ash to keep her 'Filthy little princess hands' off you. You can hear the amusement in Ash's voice when she stabs back with a 'Perhaps you should keep your inferior claws off what is mine.'
And then all at once you realize that the other legends weren't making fun of you.
They were warning you.
You'd ended up telling them that you were flattered by their desires- but that you weren't going to be choosing sides. Not when you, well, frankly had a little...thing for them both. Something you thought they would just drop, say it wasn't worth it. You hadn't expected them to make peace with your decision and begrudgingly agree to share.
Some days you end up sprawled with Revenant, his clawed grasp holding yours tight as you rest in bed with him and urge him to charge for the night. Where his nightmares can be eased to rest with soft kisses to his metal face plating.
And some days you end up with Ash- sparring her in the training room just so she can knock you on your ass and pin you under her. Leigh sometimes makes her own appearance, her voice is always softer than Ash's, crooning that you're getting better everyday at countering her. Only for Ash to cut in with a, "But. You have yet to defeat me. Try again, little one. Do not disappoint."
And some days? Some days you end up gasping for air and pleading for them both to stop competing over who can make you scream the most under them in the same room.

Silence (Part 1)
Part 2 - Revenant’s Ending
Part 3 - Bloodhound’s Ending
---
Pairings: Revenant x Reader, Bloodhound x Reader
Warnings: Mild Violence, Threat and Alcohol Consumption
---
Working for a living. How you hated it. Well, it wasn’t as bad as it could be since you owned your own business. The city was quiet this time of night, but the bar was the total opposite. You smiled pleasantly as you served a group of women with cocktails. They were higher class, flashing their credits like it was pocket change. You turned the money into the till before turning back to the task at hand, inventory of the alcohol. Quite a few of the bottles needed replacing and you pulled out your notepad to quickly scribble down the brands of each. The bustle continued behind you as the party of women jeered and giggled in the corner, fluttering their eyelashes at a new group of men that entered the bar. They whistled and rushed over to the bar for their drinks.
“Hey there! A round of beers!” The tallest man jeered at you, laughing as one of his companions rushed over to the group of women.
“Coming up.” You snapped your notebook and pencil onto the bar as you turned to grab the glasses from under the wood, holding them between your fingers before you started pulling the drinks. You watched the men saunter away, leaving two to collect the drinks. You stacked the pints in a line on the bar. They paid you with transfer before joining the women in the corner.
“Rough night?” You jumped as you picked you notepad up, the pencil in your grasp dropping from your fingers as you peered to your left. There was a rogue looking man sat to your left, playing with a coin, running it over his fingers
“You could say that again.” With a small sigh you picked up your pencil, “It’s been insanely busy.” You turned back to note the last few bottles of liquor you needed for restocking. There was an expensive whiskey which you weren’t sure you had in the back.
“Let’s see how much rowdier it gets with those lot around.” The man jabbed his thumb towards the group before looking at the door, grinning over the top of the whiskey you had poured him. The rogue grinned and you looked over to the door in confusion as the lights flickered.
“Maybe there’s another storm...” You muttered as the lights flickered again before the power shorted and everyone was plunged into darkness. Silence.
The shocked murmurs of the patrons quickly turned into upset hysterics from the women in the bar. The men seemed concerned as they continued to drink. All eyes turned on you as the lights remained out for longer than normal. Power surges were normal in this neighbourhood’s the amount of electricity that was used in the robotics plant nearby. It was a job creator but the community sometimes suffered for the privilege of the engineering potential. You looked up at the lights and looked at the bulbs just before a whirring sounded. Black and orange energy crept from the screw fittings of the bulbs, crackling and whirring with unholy noise.
“I guess this is my last stand.” The rogue man stood and flipped the coin in his hand before looking at the result under his palm. He hissed in upset, “Tails. Maybe I lose.” There was a rush of power again before two orange lights appeared outside the glass panelling of the door. The patrons screamed as claws raked over the glass, making a shrill screeching noise as they connected with the metal second.
The metal crunched before a heavy metal foot connected with the hinges, slamming the door open to reveal a titanium covered robot. Then the panic started. Men and woman rushed for the back entrance, streaming past you and the bar, ducking low when the rogue man revealed a Wingman Pistol. He spun the pistol over his hand and snapped the ammo into place as the monstrous robot hunched and climbed into the door frame. You ducked under the bar but peered over the edge as pistons clunked and the creature ducked low. It was then that it clicked. Hammond Robotics’ symbol was stamped onto one of the fingerless leather gloves. You covered your mouth and ducked again as the Simulacrum hummed, orange optics roving over the bar to find the rogue man with his pistol drawn.
“Finally.” The Simulacrum purred darkly, “Another robotics lab-rat for my list.” His hand span into a sharp point before whirring again to reveal claws, “Scream for me, skinsuit. I’ll make it hurt enough for the both of us to enjoy.”
A gunshot made you cringe under the bar, clutching at your head as you listened to the Wingman thunder with shots. They slammed into the walls with cracks and you heard the sound of the Simulacrum’s pistons slamming before he cackled, and his limbs twisted backwards. You looked up as his robotic body slammed into the ceiling, claws and knives slamming into the plaster and metal as he walked over your head, dodging bullets as his arms snaked and rippled in their sockets. His orange eyes peered downwards. You were caught like a rabbit in a predator’s gaze, looking back into the fiery depths as his head tilted, the orange spinning with a swirl of black as he watched you shiver and huddle further back under the bar.
“Duck, skinsuit.” The robot purred as the rogue jumped over the bar and you slid back to avoid having your hands stood on.
“Get back here you fucking monster!” The man howled, “You’re just another failed experiment!”
“Oh? A failure, am I?” The Simulacrum hummed as he detached from the ceiling, his hand spinning into a spear like appendage as he launched himself downwards with a grunt.
The robot crashed into the floor with a great clatter and you peered up at him, crouched before you, trying to gauge whether you were going to be collateral damage as his head span, the red scarf wrapped around his head and neck fluttering as he pushed off and rushed at the rogue.
“I’m the monster? I killed for your disgusting little customers for three hundred years!” He jeered as his hands sliced towards the man, bullets pinging off the plating covering his shoulders and face. One slammed near his eye socket, leaving a dirty black streak over his bone white faceplate.
“You’re killing for fun now. Your programming isn’t…” The Wingman clicked. Empty. The Simulacrum chuckled, his hand spinning as he dashed forwards again and sliced at the man’s guts. A pained cry rang against the walls and you dared to look to your left as the Simulacrum hoisted the rogue by his neck, claws trailing down the soft skin before he dug them into the cheeks, humming before he started to tear away chunks of skin.
“Scream for me then. Make this fun, skinsack.” He peeled away a nice chunk of skin and laughed lowly as he dragged the man across the bar, sending pint glasses flying as his legs thrashed in the air. Beer soaked the bar top as he smashed him against the levers, but the Simulacrum seemed indifference to the stench as his clawed fingers wrapped tight around the man’s throat. The rogue gave a strangled cry as he dropped his weapon and pried at the robot’s fingers in a futile attempt to be free.
“Fuck…you…” He cursed at the Simulacrum, “And fuck…that code…” He choked out as his lips went blue and his eyes ringed with red from lack of oxygen.
“Tell me where it is.” The Simulacrum demanded as his other hand’s fingers formed a sharp spear, linked together in a shining point of titanium.
“Fuck you.” The man spat a wad of spit at the Simulacrum’s faceplate. The robotic man didn’t flinch, but his orange burning eyes flicked to the saliva on his cheek before he growled and slammed the point of his fingers into the other’s gut, humming joyfully as blood poured down his arm.
“What have we here?” The Simulacrum let go of his neck to rummage in his pocket, revealing an access card to the building labelled with the lab he was allowed into. The robotic man scoffed, “You’re barely even a coder but you have sensitive information access…Access to the source.” He hummed and slid the card into a compartment under his scarves, “Ooo.” He cooed, “Is that your spleen?” He questioned. His arm whirred as he squeezed the rogue’s organs. A scream bounced off the walls and you huddled back under the bar, covering your ears until eventually, the noises stopped, and a dead body slumped against the bar top. Silence. You breathed quietly, shaking under the counter before you swallowed and dared to crawl out from underneath the wood. Peering around, you peeked over the bar and tried to ignore the body slumped against the back of the bar beside you, dead eyes looking past you at the liquor cabinet.
“Boo.” The Simulacrum dropped from the ceiling with a snap and hiss of his legs, his weight thudding to the ground as he towered over you, orange gaze burning and spinning before the optics flickered to bright whole light again.
You jumped, grabbing for a glass before he snatched it from your grip and slammed it back down on the bar top.
“Ah, ah, ah, skinsuit.” He waved a sharp finger in front of you, “Not a word. Shh.” The claw tapped your mouth, “Listen to me and listen quick.” He grunted at you, his fingers flaring threateningly under your chin, pointed at your jugular, “You don’t say a word about this to anyone. You didn’t see anything.” He tapped the sharp titanium against your chin once, “Not a soul.”
You swallowed against the sharp edges and nodded once.
“Good.” The Simulacrum looked at the bar and snatched the expensive whiskey the man had been drinking, his skeletal like nose sniffing at the contents before he hummed and opened his mouth. The inside was dark, but copper plating shined inside before he snapped it closed again like a trap. The whiskey disappeared, and there was no noise of liquid dripping onto the floor. The Simulacrum’s mouth remained closed as he spoke, “Good taste.” There wasn’t another word as his arms whirred and the pistons in his legs readjusted before he walked to the hole where the front door had once hung on its hinges, “Thanks for the drink.” And he was gone, past the giant glass windows and into the night, leaving you with a bleeding body as the police entered the bar.
It took far too long for the Apex Games to reimburse you for the damages. There was though, after about a weeks delay, a fat cheque left in your post-box for you to collect. It was perhaps far more than the bar was worth, but you knew it was hush money. Keep quiet or they take everything. That was the threat. A threat because they couldn’t keep their murderous toys under control with the money, slaughter and fame of the Apex Games alone. Revenant. You had learned his name when you watched a match, watching the Simulacrum hiss and spit at the drone cameras when they got too close. It was a slaughter until the other team found the death totem, then the entire match was won by a curious line-up of Bloodhound, Lifeline and Gibraltar. He deserved the electrocution from Lifeline’s drone you decided as you turned on the Holoscreen in the bar for one of your regulars. You had access to the sport channels with the new ariel you’d had installed, and it kept a lot of older patrons coming back weekly for the matches. Softly, you whistled as you pulled another pint and handed it to an older looking worker. He was sooty and probably had spent the day mining ore in the distant mountain. You smiled, took his money and thanked him before continuing with the rounds down the bar, not noticing as it got later and closer to closing.
“Nice bar, skinsuit.” A robotic voice jeered before a bar stool creaked noisily under a heavy weight. You sucked in a breath as you looked into the corner of the bar, meeting orange optics as the Simulacrum seemed to sneer, “Made use of the money I see by upgrading. Nicer décor now. Much more…” He rotated a hand, “Swish, or whatever.” He didn’t seem to really care as he grunted in a poor attempt at appreciation.
With a scowl, you reached to snatch away another customer’s drink from his prying fingers, “Revenant. I learned about you and your escapades after you slaughtered a man in my bar.” You crossed your arms over your chest and looked at his chassis, “You have guts showing your face here again.”
The few patrons left ignored your anger and the confrontation that was about to occur, looking down at their drinks and ducking their heads low as the Simulacrum turned his gaze to the crowd.
No one stood in your defence. Revenant's orange burning eyes span with processing before his metal fingers rapped against the bar in two swift pounds. He shifted back in his seat and then looked over at your liquor cabinet.
“What about if I buy a drink?” Revenant grumbled, his eyes moving over your hands as you reached for a tumbler on reflex. You slammed it against the bar a little too harshly and gave him a smile as you gestured to the liquors behind you.
“We have a new Cognac. Or would you prefer something more bitter?” You snarked as the Simulacrum hummed, once again indifferent to your attitude as he leaned around you to look at the liquors.
“Whiskey then. That one I had last time wasn’t strong enough.” Revenant complained with a snort as he reached into a pouch on his hip and flashed his wallet of chips from his winnings. Loaded was an understatement. He placed one chip out worth a thousand and hummed again.
“Yeah. That’ll pay for it.” You pulled a heavy, expensive bottle of liquor down, a malt whiskey and offered him the bottle after pouring him a shot.
Burning orange eyes followed your hands under the bar as you reached for the ice bucket, “Don’t bother with ice.” Revenant rumbled as he rotated his hand backwards, wiggled his fingers, then rotated it back the other way, ignoring you as you slammed the cover back onto the ice cooler a little too harshly.
Your eyes turned away from him as you went back to serve another customer, “The bottle is yours by the way, bot. Try not to get too drunk before closing.”
“Pah!” Revenant scoffed as he reached for the tumbler and swirled the dark fluid inside, “If you think I can get drunk I might have to disappoint you, skinbag.” He snarled before he poured a small amount of liquor into his mouth, snapping it shut as he ran the fluid around over the sensors.
You watched him before raising your voice, “Do you even need to drink or eat? You don’t piss fluid out of your chasis so I assume you can but…”
“I can. So, I do. Just fluids.” Revenant replied shortly, his fingers moving to tuck his scarf back over his shoulder, “If you’re gonna ask if there’s any point. There isn’t. Its…a sentiment.” He hissed, seemingly disgusted with himself before he grunted against and finished the whiskey before pouring himself another one and knocking that back as well.
You ignored him for an hour as the regulars called for their final drinks before paying and packing up to leave with lingering stares at the Simulacrum in the corner with his feet up on another stool and his arms stretching and bending at odd angles as he played with the Silencing orb. The orange and black orb crackled with energy as he threw it up and caught it between two fingers, pointing it threateningly at another patron who looked at him too long.
“Move it skinsuit.” Revenant rumbled as a man with a robotic arm lingered behind him, “This’ll get messy otherwise and I love a good mess on my hands. His fingers pointed into a sharp spear as the ball of crackling energy snapped back into the launcher. The man snorted but took his drink, drank the last dregs before leaving, leaving the bar in silence with just you and the Simulacrum perched in the corner of the bar.
The towel was damp with beer as you wiped the side down before throwing it into the basket for washing and taking out the disinfectant spray. You sprayed down the side and made sure to catch Revenants arm in the mist.
“Watch it, skinsuit.” He grunted as he snatched his drink from the chemicals and poured the rest into himself. The bottle was still on the bar, and he took hold of that and leaned back to let you wipe down the side in front of him.
“You’re really not taking my hint, huh?” You grumbled, “Revenant, its closing time, and unlike you robots, I really do need to sleep.”
“Pah.” Revenant huffed, “I paid for this.” He held up the bottle, “So I’m going to finish it, in peace.”
You opened your mouth to protest just as the front door opened again and a heavily clothed individual stepped inside. They were strapped in belts and pouches and thick leather with heavy furs, their face covered with a pair of goggles and a full respirator. The respirator whooshed with air as they politely closed the door behind them, turning their orange goggled gaze to the edge of the bar as they tilted their head to peer around.
“Oh goodie. They sent the lap dog.” Revenant sneered at the other person, his orange gaze dropping to find the tube of the ventilator to pull if he needed a quick escape.
“You were not exactly hard to track. Your tracks are very ...distinguishable.” A heavy Scandinavian accent was muffled through the respirator, “They want you back before the morn’. We have interviews.” They continued, ignoring you in favour of sizing up the Simulacrum.
“And what, ‘Hound? You gonna drag me home kicking and screaming?” Revenant took hold of the ball of energy, the silence threat hanging over his supposed foe.
“Yes.” The other hummed as they reached for a knife on their belt, “I will drag you back, silent, with both your arms and legs removed, bot.”
“Sure.” Revenant purred, “I’ll look forward to gutting you really slow in the next match, skinsuit dog.” His claws slammed at the bar.
“If you’re going to gut each other, do it outside!” You shouted between the two of them. The newcomer appeared startled as you slammed the bar door up and then back down. Revenant’s optics squinted in glee as you stood between them both, “I want no more bloodshed in my bar!”
The newcomer lowered their head, “I apologise. I am Blóðhundr, you can call me Bloodhound."
Your eyes widened, “Another Legend. Wow. Its an honour to meet you. You’re the three times champion, right?”
Bloodhound nodded their head, “That I am. I am sorry for the intrusion, but I have been sent to collect a rogue maniac.” They sounded smug behind the mask.
“A maniac. That’s got a nice ring to it.” Revenant took another glug from the bottle.
“Are you inebriated, bot? You embarrass yourself.” Bloodhound snapped as they drew their knife and pointed it at Revenant, “I am sure the bartender has had enough of you.”
“Like you wouldn’t believe.” You rolled your eyes.
“Careful, skinsack, maybe I’ll take more than just this bottle, hm?” The Simulacrum purred, “I can think of a few things I would like more…Maybe your guts as a necklace.”
“Quiet.” Bloodhound snapped, “We go.” They pointed the knife to the door, “Now.”
You looked between them both and took a step back, “Look. Its closing time and I want to sleep. So, again, can you please take this outside. Its cool having celebrities in here, but I don’t need another insurance claim and hush money on my hands.”
Bloodhound tilted their head, “Hush money?” Their goggles looked over at Revenant, “This was your doing then. Slátra in the ring was not enough?” They sounded simply disappointed, “You never fail to give into your programming like some primitive tool.” The insult was sharp but muffled through their respirator.
“Watch it, dog, you’re still a squishy skinbag like the rest of them.” Revenant threatened as he stood up, the bottle in hand as he walked around the bar and loomed over Bloodhound, his clawed hands held up in front of their goggles and respirators. He flicked a bead on their hat before he looked back at you with burning orange eyes, “See you around, bartender.” Revenant hummed as he headed back towards the door, tucking his scarf over the bottom of his face.
Bloodhound snapped their hunting knife back into their sheath on their chest before nodding at you and placing a hand over their heart, “I apologise for the intrusion. Pray, have a good night.”
“Thanks for clearing him out for me, Bloodhound. It’s been a pleasure to meet you.” You smiled as well as you could as you scooped up Revenant’s used glass, “Be safe. He’s… something.”
“Something is perhaps kind.” Bloodhound tipped their hat before they followed Revenant out of the door.
A call of a Raven followed them as the door closed and you were left in peace.
The next game was broadcast over a week later, and you tuned the holoscreen in as a crowd gathered in the bar to watch. The drones were following the last two teams, and it seemed that Revenant and Bloodhound were working together, with Caustic as their third. Gibraltar, Octane and Lifeline were the other squad left alive, hunkered down on the high ground with Gibraltar’s shield stopping the bullets from Bloodhound’s Kraber. It was setting out to be a long and slow final match though Revenant and Bloodhound possessed more rushing capabilities. Caustic was the first to move before Revenant followed, leaving his totem in the guard of Bloodhound as they continued to rain deadly shots against Gibraltar’s defences. Bloodhound span in time for a scan to see Octane moving against them, and they turned with a quick shot, downing Octane with a precise headshot as he spat profanities at them. Lifeline was too far for a resurrection and so Octane was eliminated.
“There are two left, félagi fighters, fight strong.” Bloodhound’s voice sounded over the sound system.
“Great. One less to make a mess with.” Revenant huffed as the drone switch perspective and the cameras watched Revenant storm the shield up high as Caustic laid his gas out below. The Simulacrum slid into the shield and hailed bullets into Gibraltar before leaving a grenade inside and sliding from the roof into the room below.
“Toxic traps in position.” Caustic mused before he snorted, “Lifeline has Gibraltar back up, they haven’t taken the bait.”
“Urgh.” Revenant howled as he was sent back to the totem where Bloodhound was laid on the roof, “Back at the Totem! Caustic, move!”
“Lovely.” Caustic cursed but dropped a gas cloud as he headed towards Bloodhound.
Bloodhound made no noise as they took a shot and watched Lifeline go down, “Move! They are weak.” The other two turned heel to finish the match and the crowd jeered as they won the title of champions.
You couldn’t help but wonder if it would have gone differently if Bloodhound was on the other side.
“Artur, you cannot come in, you know this.” Bloodhound said from the door, their voice hushed as they held their arm outside, “Come now, do not cause me any more problems.” They cooed softly.
“Bloodhound?” You asked gently, “You’re here late?” You questioned as their goggles looked at you, “Who is Artur?”
Bloodhound carefully pulled their arm inside and showed you the Raven. It was perched on his arm and squawked curiously as its beady black eye analysed you, “Artur is my companion and friend.” Bloodhound stroked their finger over the soft feathers of the Raven’s chest, “Do you allow animals in. I’m afraid he does not want to stay outdoors…I believe he can smell the rain.”
“Sure…so long as he doesn’t shit on my floor, he can come in.” You smiled as Bloodhound ducked inside, the beads on their hat clicking as they entered and headed towards the bar with graceful long strides.
“I came to apologise for Revenant’s behaviour. The Simulacrum knows nothing else than the slátra… ah that is… he only knows killing.” Bloodhound sat and let Artur rest on their shoulder, “I know he left a mess, and you were paid for it out of his winnings. I hope that brings you some joy.”
The tracker shifted in their seat as Artur hopped from their shoulder, over the heavy material and leather on their arms before the Raven jumped along the bar, squawking curiously into an empty pint glass.
You watched the bird before smiling and collecting the rest of the glasses from the top, “It felt like a kick in the teeth. No one cared about me, just that I kept quiet about it.” You shrugged your shoulders, “Hey, at least Revenant likes what I did with the place now, huh?” It was a sour joke.
Bloodhound looked at you curiously before their goggles shifted a little with their head, looking at the drinks and liquor behind you, “What he thinks is of little importance.” They stated before a gloved hand pointed at the drinks, “Do you have Brennivín? It is not common.”
Shocked, you stumbled for a moment before turning back to the cabinet. You hadn’t heard of the drink until a rogue group of Outlanders came through some years ago, “Brennivín…” You hummed before you snatched the clear liquid from the shelf, holding up the harsh green label for Bloodhound to see, “It’s a dill flavoured drink, right?”
“Ah. It has been some time since I have seen it.” Bloodhound happily took the bottle from you with careful hands, spinning the glass bottle to look at the back with a small huffy laugh, “The Black Death.” They purred, seemingly happy before they passed it back, “May I have some? A chilled glass will be sufficient. It is best chilled in the snow outside, but we are far from the snow here.”
“I didn’t think you would ah…want a drink.” You confessed as you took an iced glass from the fridge and turned it up on the bar before pouring a generous shot. Bloodhound reached for their pouch, but you held up your hand, “Its on me. Think of it as a thank you for dealing with Revenant.” You smiled and Bloodhound nodded before holding the drink close.
They made no move to drink.
“Wait how are you going to…” You trailed off as they span their finger around in a silent command for you to turn around. You turned around awkwardly in embarrassment and waited, the urge to peer back strong as the respirator hissed with air and they coughed quietly.
“You may turn around.” Bloodhound’s voice was infinitely softer without the mask and you smiled at the exposed mouth and chin.
They were pale and scarred with faint, harsh lines over the lower half of their face, but they gave a half smirk at your look before taking a careful sip of the alcohol.
Bloodhound gave a small hiss before they shook their head and chuckled again, “That is strong. Good.” They gestured to their chest, “Heart-warming.”
“Heart-warming is one word for it.” You held up the label again, “It’s sixty percent proof. I think I got it off some weird Outlands dealer.” With a shrug you placed the bottle back into the cabinet.
Bloodhound took another burning sip and looked at Artur as the Raven hopped back towards him from the glass, he had been entertaining himself with, “Artur. Do you want one too?” The tracker teased, “Can Artur have some water. We have travelled quite far.”
“Oh, sure.” You turned and then whipped back around, “Can he drink out of a bowl?”
“A bowl will be fine, but he may throw water all over your bar.” Bloodhound nodded as you filled a shallow bowl and leaned back as Artur hopped over, dunking his beak into the water to have a drink before he shook side to side and cawed loudly. Bloodhound offered the bird their arm and watched Artur walk back up their arm before taking another sip of Brennivín.
A comfortable silence covered the both of you as you worked through your clean up routine in the empty bar, putting the empty glasses into the back room to be cleaned by the steamer bot you had installed. The robot chugged to life happily, almost like a MRVIN, before setting to work putting glasses into its stomach for washing before organising the others into stacks for the second cycle.
Bloodhound was sat with their respirator back on when you returned, stroking Artur’s soft black feathers underneath the bird’s chin. Artur cooed happily before jumping back to Bloodhound’s shoulder and regarding you with one beady black eye.
“Thank you for the drink.” Their voice was muffled and lower through the respirator once again.
“You’re welcome.” You uttered as they stood.
Bloodhound adjusted their hat before looking around again, taking in the bar one last time before they headed to the door, “Farewell, krúttið mitt.”
Before you could ask them what exactly it meant they were gone, the metal door closing with a thump behind them. You followed to the door and clicked the old school and new technology lock into place, making sure that the door didn’t open before you turned the lights off and went to check in on your dishwashing companion, curious as to just why an Apex Legend had taken it upon themselves to come and check on you.
You watched the games for the coming weeks of the season with an interest in the two Legends that had entered your bar. Revenant and Bloodhound were machines on the field, but often grew too invested in their own kills, which lead to their failure. Bloodhound was less likely to be so focused on one person, but recently with Revenant’s goading, they were easily thrown off in favour of hunting one team for an entire match. Neither of them had a solid win for the rest of the season, they were mostly luck wins where they downed injured teams. You wondered what was wrong with them but tried not to pay much attention as your regular life settled back into place. The bar was busy on match days, and you laughed as new customers became regulars, and learned who liked what drink along with which Legend they loved as well.
“Who are you rooting for today?” Kennedy asked as he sipped his beer, “Your preference for that bot is slightly disturbing.” He laughed.
“Bloodhound is up with Mirage and Wattson today.” You hummed, “Revenant is with Octane and Lifeline. I think Bloodhound has the better option.” You laughed before the games started, wondering just who you should really be rooting for.

Death Kisses Well
The wind was cold but your body was hot with sweat, the fear pounding inside your chest rang so loud that you could hear the beating in your ears. Stress ran down you temple with sweat, In your arms you had dragged the living corpse of Revenant. His torso being the only thing still operating. Gun shots rang loudly throughout the Estates of Olympus, breaking through armor and injuring other legends. There he laid, heaving and gripping onto your arm with his clawed hands. He pressed your finger tips to his lips, sighing ruggedly. Your lip trembled, your other hand snaking to hold his cheek. He leaned into your touch, for it was comforting to him. You couldn't take it any longer, your hands pulling away to dig in your backpack for a medkit. "...(Y/N)...just quit it, would you? Its no use...I'm not fixable...not without my legs..." he said, gripping your hands tightly and kissing the tips of your fingers softly, the cold metal making a shiver run up your spine. Your lips parted, "is that what you need.....? T-to fix your-" he cut you off, " just shut it...! Go on without me. Unlike you delicate humans, I will always come back. I've been through death over and over again...there's nothing you can d-" he coughs harshly, his grip on you starting to lose its strength. "Revenant....let...let me help you! I can get...I can't...I can't do this without you Revenant!!" You shouted, though luckily it was covered by loud gunshots nearby. Revenant grunted, "Go on without me...stop crying and go, damnit!" He persists, but you don't give up, trying to revive him with what little you had. His voice starts to become harsh, but gentle and weak, his hand still holding yours as he pressed his lips to their tips one last time. "Go (Y/N).....win for me....for..us..." his voice soon gave, his robotic body now motionless as his arm fell to his side, his eyes black and soulless. Tears weld up in your eyes quickly as you shouted, "NO!! REVENANT WAIT PLEASE!! I-" you pause, hearing gunshots get closer. Your body is shaking, and your knees are wobbly, but you're agile and alert, starting to run for the wall surrounding the Estates. You rush off and hear enemies behind you, searching. It isn't long till you realize that now you must fend for yourself. You patch yourself up, laying low till the final two. You got lucky however, the duo having been split up by the ring. You watched as the ring took one the duo while the other was headed for you. Right as you had them in your scope, you fired, earning you a solid headshot. This was it, you did it...you won. Within minutes you were rushed to the scene, the victory spot you've always dreamed of being on, and to your right stood Revenant. You couldn't think, the announcer's words clouding your already foggy mind. Were you seeing things? Revenant looked at you before laughing darkly, "Pfft...I told you...I always come back," he said, soon grunting at the sight of tears in your tired eyes. "Wh...now don't start crying, I already had go deal with that earlier. You won, let's celebrate those deaths you caused, hmm?" He laughed, soon letting his clawed hand caress your cheek, "...I love you.....(Y/N).." He muttered softly so no one but you could hear. The night then went on with lots of fun between you and the assassin robot.

How dufuk dat Totem work. Also obv this is before his Rework. Daddy didn't need no fancy shmancy work to be HIM.
Word count: 3528
By Choice
Your first encounter with teh simulacrum was something you hardly forget, and you constantly think of given how different a dynamic you now have.
It leaves you in awe, and he shares the same feeling, unable to understand how a single person can mean so much.
The tanned-skinned woman offers you a stern look, a mix of pity and spite facing you as you look at her with happy eyes that have yet to understand the shift in mood.
She'd just offered you words of encouragement, even if they held playful tease, but now as she looked at you, she seemed rather sour.
-All to your confusion.
"Loba?" you say with uncertainty, your face showing just how concerned you are.
She seemed to have regretted speaking to you in the first place, and the truth was, she'd rather forget who you were now because it wouldn't make sense to remember someone who wouldn't last.
At your address, she tried to force a smile, an unconvincing one that made your earlier valor slack. For whatever reason you felt less confident about your debut.
"It's nothing dear," she said with that same unconvincing curve to her lips.
It took you a moment to understand why, and You didn't have to ask why her expression had changed as you then turned and followed her line of vision, soon looking at the banner next to yours.
'Oh...'
-To think you'd be paired with the synthetic nightmare on your first match as an Apex Legend.
For a prolonged second, you stared at the banners with wide eyes, in disbelief before another contender approached, coincidentally the same who'd be your teammate.
Loba practically sneers as your partner makes his way towards you, sizing you down as you stare back at him with a sternness that wavers the closer he comes.
She doesn't stay long after that, and she doesn't even bother to tell you anything more either, all of which you overlook as you are more concerned with the bot's presence.
You swallow down thickly as your heart speeds and aches in pain, uncertain of what is to come, feeling unfortunate that not only would you have to watch out for potential enemies, but consider your partner a possible hostile too.
To say the least, you were on edge the entire time and were relieved to part ways after. Even if there had been nothing truly eventful about your match other than him shoving you out of the way a couple times.
You clenched your fist each time but bit back saying anything more than a short huff the second time it happened.
You were glad it was over, much more that you came back in one piece. But luck would have it that you'd find yourself working with him more than once, so much that you wondered if it was fate.
You wondered if there was something you couldn't escape waiting for you at the simulacrum's side.
'maybe death,' you mused darkly at first.
-That or the games were somehow rigged.
Though, you pondered if your fate was as horrifying as you had initially thought given how you no longer felt threatened by him.
He was a dick to you, but even his attitude began to ease as time passed, and so did yours.
He went from disliking you, to simply ignoring you....to suddenly being pleasant, earning your favor, something that wouldn't have been too difficult from the beginning.
'Maybe he just takes some warming up,' you mused with relief at your newfound partnership, finding things worked better when he actually considered your plans.
-And from pleasant, he went to confusing.
.
.
.
' Alluring little thing,' he constantly thinks so.
He regularly observes you, memorizing your every movement, even the most subtle breaths that leave you.
He regularly keeps track of your heartbeat and does so with the same tranquility one would find with the sound of gentle music.
He's keen on the existing twinkles in your eyes throughout the day, under different lighting, and inspired by different emotions.
It's all so interesting to him.
You are interesting.
The fixation he has for you digs deep, further than anything else he's ever felt, bypassing the searing wrath that has, until then been his only drive.
Unscathed, he made his way towards you, his long legs reaching you in short strides.
"You came back..." you say with relief, the words leaving you in a low breath. You sure are surprised, he can tell by the way your eyes look at him as though the sight of him is the last thing you'd thought to catch.
-Especially with how he reacted just before he stalked off after your earlier spat about strategies
And you beam as a result, unknowingly letting him know just how much it meant that he turned back.
Before long, slowly his hand fell to your face, the back of his fingers gently drawing down your moistened cheek as you'd just crawled away from the water you'd fallen into during your last scuffle.
Blood gently grazes his affectionate digits, and while he's familiar with the feeling, it's not quite as tantalizing as it's always been.
-And it's been an issue with you lately that he can't seem to understand, or express.
Instead, it's an oddly hollow feeling he feels, even if it's nothing more than a scratch that's marked your face.
Realizing that your pain brings him no pleasure is strange and bothersome, but he doesn't voice his new discovery. Instead, he masks it, pulling back his hand too for being so impulsive.
Why has touching you become such an obsession?
-He burns to know.
"hn...Get up," he demands while helping you up, pulling you by the arm after giving you a quick heal.
Your legs scramble to find ground as he quickly pulls you to him faster than you can gather your thoughts or try getting up on your own.
Though, throughout the trip, you had newfound vigor.
Because If he came back there had to be a reason. He had to find you useful, and you wouldn't disappoint. You'd show the simulacrum that you were just as worthy of a contender, an equal partner that wasn't going to be a commodity like he'd stated before he left you earlier.
As snappy as his words are, you only huff with triumph, nodding, looking at him the entire time with that little twinkle in your eye.
However, as soon as he helped you up, your breath paused and that little spike in courage was forgotten.
You lean close to him as a consequence of his gruff pull, for a second lingering as you look up at him and put on an uncertain face, curious of him as he is of you.
-At least, that's what he would like to imagine; That you are just as interested in him as he is in you.
It's considered, and For whatever reason he stays there by you, silent.
You lick your lips, subtly, not at all seductive, yet all the same, looking alluring as you offer him eyes that question him for every one of his actions that seem so unlike him.
For instance, his persisting hold that has gone from your arm to your side.
A single hand stays there and he watches as you direct your pretty eyes down to the side it resides after looking away from his own sight.
As of late, he's gotten closer throughout every interaction, and you've noticed.
'What's he doing?' You want to ask him, but you feel embarrassed too, silly too.
'He's a robot....well, Simulacrum,' you think with correction. 'Aren't they... somewhat human? At one point wasn't he?' You don't know what to think, but as you remember that, a part of you feels happy.
Something in you warms at the idea of there existing a part of him that holds the emotional capacity you do...that could somehow understand what it is that you are feeling at that very moment.
And your skin tingles as he takes the tiniest step forward while still gripping your hip.
'It's silly right?' you wonder, 'What should I do?' you wonder without direction.
While lost in thought, your hand rises, instinctually drawn to him, but he stops you midway by breaking the moment with a step driven back.
He has to peel himself away from you, being the first to move as he advises you to heal while turning to face east, and you are grateful he does.
It's not like you wanted him to draw distance, but at least he saves you the embarrassment by looking elsewhere.
'Maybe it's for the best,' You think.
"That's where we're heading," he tells you while marking the map, and he threatens to leave you behind again while waiting, eyeing you to make sure you're prepared to move, not missing the way you can't meet his gaze.
-Observant to how you seem to smile as you look at anything but him, even if it's not entirely joy-filled. There's a touch of something more but he can hardly catch it as you do your best to hide your face.
Though, occasionally you slip, and it's adorable as you try and peek at him, much more when you pretend it's not what you wanted.
It's not just enchanting how you look, but why you look that way.
And he's insistent on being the one to cause those reactions, on being the only one you show those precious responses to.
He feels scorned when anyone else can make you happy.
it's sickening at first how much he craves you. It's humiliating to him how he needs to point you to him instead, though, it's watered down when you seem to need less and less of a pull.
it's satisfying when you seek him, when you stop looking at him with question, and merely act on the same instinct he has when near you.
As his hand falls over your cheek, you stand surprised, your eyes peeled wide as his fingers move in soft caresses.
'It's just like before...' you think back to when he'd first done so, to that moment so many weeks ago.
You'd thought about it so much, nearly obsessed over it, and just how excited you felt no matter how hard you tried to pretend it didn't happen.
Your eyes flutter close, acceptant to his cold touch.
Soon, you become eased into the act, expectant of it, and he loves the way your eyes flutter close, taking in a long breath to enjoy the moment like it's an otherwordly pleasure.
The more he repeats the act, the closer he feels you, and before long there's less uncertainty.
Now, he's amused at knowing the touch of his razor-sharp claws can cause you serenity. Furthermore, it's something you need from him as you become bold, taking his kind hand, cradling it in your own as you lead it to your face and offer him sweet eyes and a pout that fills him with the slightest guilt for making you wait.
Never before would he have thought he'd succumb to a simple look, much less one as bratty as the one you pull.
These were the kinds of things he'd see people do and scoff at... How is it that he's now just one in the mass of these annoying, unbearable skinbags?
Curiosity led to experimentation which, opened the path to a routine that brought forth a side of him he forgot existed.
It'd been lifetimes ago since he'd felt the insistency to touch anyone so softly, or even be the recipient of such a feeling.
He soon becomes content with his own fill of affection, moving on without any address.
In a sense, it's like a kiss to you, an 'I've missed you' without words, moreso when it's been longer than a few hours apart.
-And that's another thing, he can't stay away.
It's not long before you pay him back with the same gentle touches, enamored by his every edge and smooth plating, an idea he thought impossible.
He feels almost naked sometimes, far too much, and while it's overwhelming at times, he doesn't tell you to stop or urge you back.
Knowing that he can also fill you with desire makes him feel alive, existent in a realm he's made of something more than wires and programming.
And one day he pushes further, coming down to your lips, pressing his own.
There's no movement from his mouth, and yet you press your soft one to his, pretending there is flesh there.
Your unbothered behavior sends him to the moon as you hold his hands, passionate in the lasting kiss.
He can feel it, your lips on his, the warmth and devotion in what you offer.
Somehow...can you?
'Can a machine love?' Noxx has dared to ask, and even if his genuine curiosity holds obnoxious condescension, it's made Revenant wonder.
-Enough to ask you.
Your eyes open wide, and you look at him with stupefaction.
"W-why do you..." you can hardly ask without stumbling over your words, and he noted your heart is fighting to jump out of your chest, it's restless as it races.
it stills when his fingers catch your chin, holding it there delicately as you continue to lay beneath him, caged down by his outstretched arm.
"You're a smart girl," he compliments because he truly does find you fascinating, even if he teases you.
He considered your thoughts worthy of contemplation, even the silly ones.
" What do you think?" he wants to know.
He wants you to speak the possibility into reality, because if you say so, then he's willing to believe.
He doesn't love himself enough to consider being happy, but if you, as fascinating and wonderful as you are tell him it's possible, then he has no doubt.
he feels something in him sinking as your eyes hold back tears, and he prepares himself for the worst, nearly certain that somehow this has all been too good.
"If I can love one... I'd hope he could feel the same for me," you say as you offer him a smile, a soft one he wants to call his and keep safe.
"If I can say I love you and be sure of it, even when I feel so afraid - could you admit it to me too?" you're begging, because you're at the point of no return, and his question feels like a make it or break it moment.
'Are you capable of that?' you think with worry.
The uncertainty in the question he asks fills you with worry because you know what you feel for him. You love Revenant and were sure every step you'd taken together was one taken with love from both sides.
' Or is this when you tell me... when you show me your true self?'
It filled you with dread to think that this was somehow a game of his, that he was truly evil and treacherous.
it's been on your mind for a while,
'Silly little Girl... you're nothing more than a game to him.' Revenant's voice echoed in your head, startling you.
You thought it had been your teammate at first, that Revenant had found his way to you already, but that hadn't been the case. You couldn't see him anywhere, and you wondered if you'd imagined the voice at first.
The sound of static occasionally fell in the background and you pressed your lips thinly wondering why your comms were failing.
"Rev... I can't hear you," you try to communicate with your partner, though, getting nothing back but choppy static.
Laughter surrounded you, and you grew weary of it.
It sounded just like Revenant, and the more he spoke, the less you were sure it was just your imagination.
"What's happening?" you thought with uncertainty, feeling sick.
There was only one thing you could think of, but you were unsure because this hadn't happened the last time you'd used his Totem. it was nothing similar.
'Poor little skinsuit...' He murmured.
' - used as just some entertainment in between matches where he can do what he actually loves,' he persists, and you had to bite back.
"That's not true," you start with annoyance that soon deters the longer he repeats the words, the more he continues to taunt you. It feels as though you'd been listening to him for an eternity, wearing down your will.
Ignoring him hadn't worked, but it seemed that arguing back was worse.
Laughter follows as a retort before he speaks again,
'It's what he was made for, It's ALL he is.'
The words are spat out, sharp, and sinister.
Just as you find refuge, you look down at your hands, and your breath comes out short and quick, as the air feels sparse.
"he's not like that, " you say as you look down at your empty palms covered in black smoke. "I thought he was, but he's not." you continue.
'Revenant, He's gentle... soft.
he's different with me...' You tried to remember that.
"he's different," you voice.
'ooh?' coos the voice, 'different you say?' he asks.
'I see he's got you all worked up with his fingers. You're familiar with them, but have you ever seen them painted red? Don't you know that same hand has sliced through more hearts than your little one could ever bear?'
"I know already, what he's done... what he is," you say.
'Do you? ' He asks with doubt.
'Do you think he's a victim? that he's some poor, trapped soul?' He asked with scrutiny.
'Aren't you sweet... you pity him don't you?' he asked with amusement.
'you want to save him, right?' he persisted with the same sneer.
'Well let me tell you something, he's earned his place in this hell! No one forced him to be the monster he is! he's made killings far before he was trapped in that body.' He informed you, making you bite your lip down harshly.
'Did he tell you that? of course not, he hasn't even told you his real name, has he?' he asked confidently.
"When he's ready he'-" Your voice died when he interrupted you.
'He knows your every secret while giving you nothing but breadcrumbs.
Sweet, sweet (f/n).
You trusted the wrong person again, didn't you?' he sang as your vision blurred, and you had to admit that stung.
Just the idea...
'That's right...' Revenant's voice starts as your face slowly falls into bleak realization.
'And you were so easy...' he added with a chuckle, 'All he had to do was offer you a little petting, like a dog.
he hardly did anything before you leaned in for more, ' and you recall it.
'Were you that touch starved?' he asked with mock pity.
At that, you closed your eyes tight, and you shook, denying it.
'Love me! love me! Oh please! Look at me! Please, someone love me!
- Pathetic!' The sound of laughter made you shrink.
' Even in this dimension, you're pathetic,' he said with a cackle.
His words continued until Familiar hands took a grasp at your shoulders, holding you tight and making you open your eyes in shock, a strangled breath leaving you.
Revenant, your Revenant in his physical form looked down at you, and as his hands squeezed you, you came to with a start.
"What the hell did you do?" the question came out irate and nasty as he stared at your shaky form, his voice making you flinch as you continued to stare at him with surprised eyes that soon filled with fright.
'This is who he is, All he is....' the voice said before it became quieter, leaving you with nothing but doubt. 'Remember that when he touches you...'
You could only shake your head in denial, not knowing what you were trying to wash your hands of exactly.
Meanwhile, You shook in his hold, and that very expression you couldn't wipe away had him unsettled,
"What did he tell you?" it was the only question he could ask, and you couldn't answer him.
Your voice refused to work, nothing but a small sound came out before you took a frantic step back.
He noticed and pulled you back, his hands refusing to let go. the ends of his digits dug deep into your arms, the grasp becoming aching enough to make you wince.
"Answer me!" his anxiousness deepened through his words and the desperate way he held you.
As you looked up at him, truly gazed at him you remembered how scared you'd been when you first met him, and why.
You recalled one thing: that after all, he was meant for killing.
How could you forget?
'He's right, at least about one thing,' you thought with dismay as the step you took back returned, the foot falling back to its earlier place after he restrained you.
The haunting voice had been right because you can't fight back. even if you had the strength to pry him off, you had no will to draw further.
'it is pathetic...'
Where else could you run to?
there was nowhere else you wanted to go, no other arms you sought for refuge.
-Because you loved him.
And it was the first time you truly admitted it.
Soon, you clung to him, needing to hold him, having a desperation to feel his arms coiling around you.
You'd wondered what it'd be like, and it was as serene as you'd expected, offering you a comfort no one else could.
'Even if this is a game to you, give me more time, let me enjoy this more.'
"Shut up..." your voice stayed soft as you pressed your cheek close to him, " Please... please shut up,"
His voice was no comfort to you right now, especially not when it melted with the vicious one from earlier and you begged him to stay silent.
But you wanted him close.
"Just hold me... touch me... don't let me go...Rev, "
"Stupid little skinsuit," he muttered, still annoyed, though complying with a gradual approval.
He hadn't imagined you'd ever lean on him the way you were now, so desperately.
"I warned you," he really wanted to scold you, because he told you not to touch his totem, that it was only his to enter.
There was a reason for his forewarning.
The longer he'd been with you, and the more he was starting to feel for you, the more unbearable it became to go through it, and he just knew it'd be a true nightmare for you.
His lips grazed the crown of your head, gently pressing down, 'How could I resist?' he wondered, his earlier fury settled.
'Especially when you cling to me like this...'
Though, he insisted on knowing what you were told. It would take some digging, but he'd figure it out. But later, because at that moment, you were more important, comforting you was his only objective.
"Do you love me?" you ask him with that soft tone to your voice that has him feeling sparked with something vibrant.
"Because I love you, " you say while you lean close, and he comes down to try and meet you. His hand shifts to hold your cheek, marveling at the delicate skin and how there's a touch of flush to it.
One of your arms is draped over his shoulder, fingers scrunching the red cloth that covers the back of his head whist your other hand is pressed to his chest.
"Revenant? Do you feel something for me? Something similar?Anything?"
He's always been fascinated by your heart, and he wishes you could feel something beneath your palm. He wishes you could feel how much his heart would be speeding at your confessions and the sensual way you peer at him.
" I feel you mine," is what he first says, marveling at your sight.
"And only you have my mercy," he tells you, as his fingers brush your cheek. Without much thought you turn your head, your lips aimed to brush over his hand.
Successfully, you land a kiss before looking up at him with eyes dimmed with yearning.
"You have what no one else has, or ever will," he says with certain.
"And what's that?" you ask softly.
"- Me." he answers simply.
"My devotion, and conscious loyalty," he affirms. "Something no one, not even Hammond will take from me again," he swore to you and himself.
"With you, I'm a puppet by choice," he said while nuzzling his face to your neck, and as strange as it may be those words meant much more than a simple I love you.
From Revenant, their meaning was profound.
There was a knot in your throat, and to save yourself from what would be choked words you pressed your lips to his, finding your own way to translate the Phrase.
'I love you too...'

Summary: You join the Apex Games, but before you can actually begin, you have to go through all the extravaganza.
Word count: 2218
Masterlist
The Apex Games…
Out of dozens and dozens of competitors, you came out on top.
It was honestly unbelievable.
The sheer anxiety and excitement throughout the match. Except this time, the stakes were even higher. It was the last competition you needed to win to qualify to be a Legend.
To be a Legend... Your biggest dream. You have been working towards this goal for quite awhile now.
Of course, the road was rocky. It had its ups and downs, but you're finally at your destination.
You can have it all now! The fame! The money! The recognition you've always wanted!
The recognition…
The recognition!!
How could you forget about the upcoming interview?? Every winner gets interviewed after their matches!
All that adrenaline must've blocked out some important information in your brain…
The match only finished a couple of hours ago, and now you've already got to go somewhere else.
Man, this is going to be extremely tiring…
What are they even going to ask?
How personal are they going to get?
Do you have to wear your competing outfit? Or can you just wear anything?
Why didn't anyone inform you about these things??
'You're going to get interviewed.' Yeah? And what else? They said where and when, but not much else.
God… Guess you'll have to improvise!
Forge wore a suit in his interview. The one that went wrong…
You'll have to dress fancy too then!
Make it elegant, but not too over the top.
You got this!
You got this.
——————————
Okay, maybe you don't got this.
All the cameras and the lights in this relatively empty room are extremely anxiety inducing.
The banners of you in your fighting outfit are pretty flattering, but being in the spotlight right in front of them is not the most calming thing you could be doing right now.
At least the photographers notified you to stay in your armor for the photoshoot…
They also cleaned you up after the match.
Wouldn't want a competitor in a blood sport to be bloody in the advertisements now, would we?
"Starting in 5 minutes! I repeat, we're starting in 5 minutes! Everyone to their places, check your equipment again to make sure everything works properly!" yelled the director. Every single staff member hurried to their places.
Huh, he commands the room well.
As you stand on the side awkwardly, the interviewer walks up to you and asks to go and sit down in the chairs located on the stage.
"Very nice to meet you, I'm Lisa Stone.
Some staff members are going to come up here in a second to put a microphone on you, so relax and get comfortable . You don't have anything to worry about"
Well, Forge didn't have anything to worry about in the beginning either… You wonder how Ms. Stone got over that incident. Probably required a whole lot of therapy. Poor woman.
"O-Oh thank you! Nice to meet you too." you replied, trying to look as relaxed as possible. It wasn't very convincing…
You both took your respective seats.
While 2 members of staff started putting hidden microphones on you and Ms. Stone, she picked up a stack of papers and looked through them.
The interview questions.
"One minute left! Everyone better be ready, no mistakes, this is going to be live!"
No mistakes. Don't mess up.
Be as level headed and polite as possible. Can't mess this up, if you do, no one will take you seriously.
It can't go worse than Forge's interview though, right…? I mean, it was a literal assassination… by the coolest robot to ever exist!
Okay maybe phrasing it like that is wrong, but it's true-!
"Are you ready to get started?" Mr. Stone inquired, interrupting your inner rambling.
"Oh! Y-Yes, I am." came your hesitant reply.
This is going to go great…
"Good. I know this can be hard on some people but there's no need to worry." she smiled reassuringly.
At least she's not actively working towards making your situation worse, you can appreciate that.
"Starting! In 5!"
The lights dimmed.
"4!"
Well, this is really happening.
"3!"
Ms. Stone faced the main camera, you followed.
"2!"
Goodbye last shred of confidence!
"1! ACTION!"
The lights slowly came back on.
"We're sitting here tonight with our latest Legend to join the Apex Games; (Y/N) (L/N). It's great to have you here." Ms. Stone began, turning towards you during the last part.
"Thank you! The pleasure is all mine." you answered, trying your best to seem less nervous.
"So, now that you're finally here, how does it feel to have accomplished such a big feat?" she questioned.
"To be honest with you, tiring, extremely tiring."
you exclaimed, Ms. Stone giving a short giggle to your response.
"But it feels great. Surreal even! Accomplishing one of my greatest dreams, one I've been working towards for so long, is still pretty hard to believe." you chuckled lightly.
"I can imagine. It must've been pretty hard having have had to train every day for multiple competitions.
Was it nerve-racking to have your very last match be a solo match?" she responded.
"It did amp up the anxiety for that match, yes. But I'm glad the last qualifier is played without teammates. I, and many others, will then know whether I'm actually good enough to proceed or not." you say, gaining a bit of confidence back. Maybe this whole interview thing isn't going to be so bad after all.
Mr. Stone looked at you, surprised.
"I haven't heard anyone say they preferred the solo matches for the finals before. Interesting." she noted. There was a short pause while she looked down to check her papers.
"Next question… 'Why did you decide to join the games'?" came her scripted inquiry.
"I don't like getting too personal on TV, but one of the reasons was that I like guns a lot. I love to go to firing ranges to try out various kinds of firearms. I don't own any personally, but I'm very much interested in them." you answered.
You really didn't want to get into your private life and past too much…
"Another reason is that I like strategy games and working in small teams. Something like the Apex Games seemed like the perfect combination of both!" you added right after.
Ms. Stone looked at you quizzically. She probably didn't expect an answer like that.
"What an interesting motive. So the reason is 'just for fun'? No deeper meaning there?" she tried to dig deeper, genuine curiosity appearing on her face.
"Nope! Just wanted something big I can achieve that I'll also enjoy."
You know that one is a lie.
"Curious… Let's do something more fun then:
'If you were to pick a favorite, out of the current roster of Legends, who would it be'?" she looked at you, once again, very interested.
You heard somewhere that this was one of her favorite questions to ask, but even then, somehow you didn't think this far…
"Well, this will sound very weird, because most people wouldn't choose him as a favorite… but um-" you take a long pause, palms becoming slightly sweaty.
You look away from her, not wanting to see her reaction to that answer.
It was indeed a very unique choice to have as one's most liked Legend.
"It's… um… Revenant…"
.
.
.
You swallowed, your mouth and throat feeling dry.
You've never heard a quieter silence before. Not a single person was making a sound, even the director was staring in shock.
Some people were looking around awkwardly, some were staring right at Ms. Stone and you. Eyes darting back and forth.
Ms. Stone stared at you, absolutely appalled, mouth slightly open. Her reaction was perfectly understandable.
Having seen that same simulacrum murder a Legend right in front of her…
You cannot blame her.
"P-Pardon?" she gives a nervous laugh. "Did I hear that right? Re-Revenant? The simulacrum?" she asks to confirm, tone uncertain.
You nod your head slightly, still not looking at her. Well you made this situation indescribably awkward.
You should've lied about this one thing; could've said Mirage or Pathfinder, or even Loba! But no! You had to tell the truth!
Ms. Stone cleared her throat. "We-Well, that's certainly… an… i-interesting choice. Um… May I ask why… him…?" her voice was shaky, having been reminded of what she has witnessed before, right in front of her.
You take a deep breath. You really need to think about this, you can't just compliment him all you want, he's still a murderer.
Be smart. Be empathetic, she got traumatized by him, you need to choose your words right.
"Umm… I'll be honest-" everyone takes a deep breath, "-it's, um… mostly because he… uh… h-he's cool…?" you say, drawing out the last two words.
The sentence sounded just as uncertain as you.
The staff kept staring at you, now solely focused on you.
"Ahaaa… and there's no other reason, at all?" she kept prying, suspicions still clearly present.
"Yeeaah… He just… does things so efficiently, e-even if they're horrible. He was designed so well…" you say back, trying to calm her down, if even just a little. You really do not want her, and all of the Outlands by extension, to hate you.
Ms. Stone kept staring at her pages, not reading any of the sentences written there. "Mhmm… He's efficient alright…" came a quiet murmur from her.
She finally turned back towards me.
"Now, people can have their preferences, within the law of course.
I'm relieved you don't agree with what he does, even though he's your favorite." she pipes up after a brief silence, still not sounding 100% sure about this.
Ms. Stone turned towards the main camera.
"Well that's all for today's interview. Thank you so much (Y/N), once again, for coming. We're happy to have another Legend join the games." she briefly takes a glance at you.
"We'll be back with the next championship's winners real soon. Stay tuned." she finishes up, completely professional.
As the live stream ends, everyone seems to sigh at the same time. This must've been one of the worst interviews they've witnessed throughout their careers. Oops.
Note to self: don't get into weird and awkward situations next time by choosing the worst option. You really don't need to ruin your reputation before even starting in the Apex Games…
If it isn't already too late for that…
——————————
After the whole debacle, you had to meet with your new manager. He was a kind dude, avoided the topic of your recent mess up so he doesn't embarrass you further with it.
He explained everything that needed to be known before your first game; where you'll be staying from now on, training routines, schedules, gear, sponsors, how the seasons work, etc.
You also had to sort out some more paperwork before everything became completely official. You wrote your name so many times, it was unbelievable. You're pretty sure you haven't written it this many times while you were learning to write when you were just a kid!
This whole day has been extremely tiring… By the time you got home it had been late at night and you were ready to pass out and never see the world ever again.
Your new apartment welcomed you with open arms. The bed looked oh so enticing in the bedroom, but before you could get in it to finally be sent to the dream world, you had to unpack your things.
You got the biggest walk-in closet you've ever seen, to load your clothes into. The shiniest bathroom you've been in, to set your hygiene products up in.
It really does pay to be a Legend, huh? And you haven't even had your first match as one yet!
After you finished putting everything away, you went back to the bathroom to get ready for a shower.
It's astounding how high up the apartment is, the large floor to ceiling windows give a great view of the world below. The gorgeous starry sky mixed with the beautiful lights below, made for a sight to behold.
After you finished admiring the new perspective you got thanks to your new living space, you got into the shower to wash off all the dirt and stress you've acquired today. Finishing your shower, you got out of the steam filled cabin, dried yourself off with a nice fluffy towel and got dressed in your nightwear. Before going to bed however, you didn't forget to wash your teeth.
Throughout your nightly routine, you started to feel more and more relaxed, becoming less and less aware of your surroundings. All you were focused on was finally getting to sleep.
At last, you got into bed, covered yourself in the enormous blankets that laid on the mattress beforehand.
Looking around your room, you thought about how you were going to decorate the place in the future. In its current state, it all looked very generic, something straight out of a display in a furniture store.
It didn't take long for you to enter dreamland after a couple of ideas that slowly made their way through your head.
.
.
.
What you didn't notice before that, however, were the pair of seemingly floating, glowing eyes watching through your windows with clear interest…

Stunt | Revenant x Reader
Obv. Rev has feelings for the reader.
It's just a fun scenario I considered.
Some Mirage X reader (you'll see)
Wordcount: 487
Stunt
Revenant stared down at the device in his hand, a searing glare shot down at the bright, flat screen that stared back at him with vibrant colors.
The image moved in silence, displaying only a preview before he decided to simply click on it, his curiosity getting the better of him.
-Something in him was burning, somehow aching.
Slowly, he pressed the tip of his finger over the screen, holding in an imaginary breath.
The overzealous brat Mirage spoke, his elated words heightened by that damned smile of his that had begun to become even more infuriating as of late.
" I'm just here with my favorite girl!" he claimed as he had an arm wrapped around you, surprising you as you nearly dropped your recently purchased drink.
It took you a moment to compose yourself and smile too, though, still seeming more entertained with your tea.
Elliot pulled you close, his cheek pressing right against yours for just a second before he pulled back and continued to address his audience instead, something you didn't seem to mind much as you focused on your straw.
Occasionally during the live feed, you laughed, showing no signs of wanting to peel yourself off of his side.
countless shares and comments were left just as curious as Revenant was, and the replies were no better, insinuating something he's tried to not think of.
Lately, you've been busy....is this why?
Him...
"Ohhh man...." he heard a familiar voice mutter beside him, and that breath alone was an indicator of who it was.
The accented rasp in his voice was unmistakable, and it made Revenant feel even more irritated.
The speed demon stood still, and Revenant could see from the way his unobscured, brown eyes glanced over to the screen that he was just as surpised, yet strangely not all too taken back.
" Tough luck amigo," Octavio added as he shook his head, and it made Revenant snatch the phone away from his sight with a low grunt.
"- Like I give a damn," he said back as he pulled back his arm, his fingers pressing down on the device with an iron grip that began to overwhelm the phone, crushing it in a matter of seconds.
And it was something Octane saw and snickered at,
"Right..." Octavio said lowly before relaseing a short sigh, and halfhearted shrug.
“He just snatched your girl right from under you,” he muttered with just a bit of tease.
"- Why should you care?" he added with a little hum, discreetly eyeing the broken piece of technology still in the bot's hand.
He only mused over how much 'Che would have the time of her life gloating over how she just knew the Simulacrum had something of a heart in him.
"You're crazy," Octane said while walking alongside his childhood friend.
"Come on Silva, just think about it," she urged him.
"I've never seen him act so...so unlike himself," she said. " just pay attention," she advised him, and from then on, he had kept a close eye on you and Revenant.
And he was surpised to notice the little things.
Like, your laugh around him.
There was a little pitch you reached that made him roll his eyes when he noticed.
And the bot's eery way of standing over you had become less intimidating the more he paid attention.
Instead, it seemed cheesy, like a man leaning in for some attention, lingering for something more.
Octane then began to chuckle lowly, almost losing himself in a fit of giggles as he wondered what the Simulacrum would do when he found out it was nothing but a PR stunt.
"But just don't tell anyone," you said after he'd caught you and Mirage talking about it.
"I mean, I love my girl," Mirage said with a smile, "But it's just business," he told the other male offhandedly.
"Just a bit of teasing the crowd," he added simply.
"You think anyone could really hold down all this?" he asked while slowly turning as if proving a point, and it made you stare flatly at Octane.
"It's just such a shame," you grumbled, not really convincing anyone you were heartbroken about the reality of your romance.
You loved Elliot, but he really was something of a manwhore, and while he was a funny guy, you pitied the person that actually fell for him.
" Anyways, It's innocent too. We're just spending a bit of time together to get some buzz, especially since they're coming out with new merch for this one," he said while pointing at you, reminding Silva of the new, upcoming event.
"It's really been up to the fans for debate, which is fun," he added with a chuckle, but you disagreed, cringing at some of the comments.
-And the fanart?
You burned with embarrassment at some people's talent.
Meanwhile, Octane nodded, understanding.
Was it meant to tease the bot?
Perhaps, but there was just something exciting about it;
"Senior loincloth, if only you'd been faster," he added with yet another chuckle as he drew back.
