Angelic Pretty's Strawberry Doll might not be a crowd favourite among AP's Strawberry print dresses, but it's the ultimate all-rounder for me - perfect for cafe hopping, fancy dinners, or even frolicking in the park. Plus it's subtle and comfortable enough for travel and works well for dressy events like a work buffet (minus the twin tails, of course!) Anyone else out there have a favourite underrated print?

to be completely honest i've been wanting to use this blog again for a while, but i didn't want to just reappear without saying anything about it so i kept putting it off. but i guess i gotta do it now because i couldn't hold back the urge to go Ape Shit (positive) about utdr

well last year I was unmedicated, full of mold, and incapable of articulating my general frustrations with fandom without getting genuinely upset and being a dick about it. this was not really healthy so I logged off and scheduled some appointments and became Medicated. i also grew strawberries from seed and started a compost pile and both went surprisingly well. there was steam coming out of that thing(!) plus I started playing neopets again. and some other stuff happened too

to sum up what I was so frustrated about in the first place... i don't think it's unique to any specific hobby or fandom or age group, but at times I see this pattern of incuriosity and it gives me this sorta bleak feeling, particularly when it comes to serious real-world topics. like people writing off concerns about racism as petty "drama" or using thought-terminating cliches like "it's just a silly little joke/cartoon/game" or "so I'm not allowed to have fun???" or whatever. or the assumption that someone avoiding saying/doing bigoted things in public to maintain their image is Undeniable Proof that they're reformed despite never directly acknowledging how their bigotry was wrong (jontron would be an example of this i guess). i can't stop anyone from liking what they like but i think vehemently defending people like that is wrong, and it just feels like an excuse to return to Uncritical Media Consumption Status Quo. or something like that

in any case, i don't want to use my feelings about things like that as an excuse to treat people unfairly or be needlessly cruel or bitter, so i thank you again for your patience with me if you've read this far. i'm not exactly sure what i'll do with this blog because i still feel kind of cautious about following a lot of fan blogs, but i at least want to Do My Own Thing here, and i hope in the future i can manage to make some fun stuff again like fanart, sculptures, dolls...

OH i almost forgot to mention the oekaki. i never actually shut it down but i definitely think it needs a lot of TLC before i promote it again

Nothing says I haven't bought a resin doll since like 2010, guessing at Lily's age here, like realizing that not only do I have no idea where my eye putty is but it's probably dried out. The only pair they had in her size was green which will work just fine. No eye mech so I might get brown for the spare plate.

Britches the Volks MDD counts as a full set and I'm assuming she has eye tubes like Shi Shi, haven't opened her head to check because there's been no need to change her eyes.

And I don't have any 6-7 wigs and if I do it's Lily's spare wig and you try explaining to a Yo-SD it has to share. Also their colors won't work for the Unoa, she's a ginger, she's got freckles all over and very good subtle body blushing.

I did change the lip color on the open mouth head. Just painted over what was there. In real life it's a cold Barbie pink, if that makes sense, and I warmed it up to closer to the lighter color in the dress.

Someone else made her a couple of A line dresses, they have traits of a beginning sewer, but this dress is better put together.

No idea what she wants to be called or anything. Usually when I buy a doll, especially with the customs, it's character first then finding a doll to match. Britches I figure was meant to be a kludge Cardcaptor Sakura because she dates from the time Volks put one out and looks like her at first glance.

This little sweetie has freckles all over and that little bracelet. She's got all the time in the world to figure herself out. The only... and it's not even an issue... Is none of the doll clothes fabric I have at hand is the right color scheme for her and we'll have to go shopping.

Or in the case of the calicos they're all fat quarters and she'll need at least a yard. She's around 43cm tall.

PS: If any of my doll friends have 12mm eyes in shades of brown or a light purple-violet-lavender that would look good on a red head and size 6-7 wigs in shades of strawberry blonde to auburn that aren't too thick let me know.

Someone has to be a size completely different from everyone else I have :p

ok so. for the ts i was thinking of finding the middle ground between classic and military styles, now, as someone whose personal style can only be described as "hime or bust" (hime: japanese for princess, hime lolita is a style i like to say is based around looking like you stepped out of a roccoco painting), which makes things hard because while classic and hime are comparable styles, hime has the styling conventions of ott sweet which is. very drastically different, and military lolita is more than a bit rare in the west, has nothing in common with the hime substyle, and something i personally steer clear of bc a lot? of military lolita stuff? is filled with red flags?, also i am nothing if not anti war i do not want to look at things fashioned after military uniforms. but i think i did manage to strike a balance with the classic mainpiece, military style jacket, cuffs, and boots, and lack of accessories which physically pained me.

3 What made you start doing Lolita fashion? 　→ I was feeling lonely due to life circumstances. I even stopped being a musician and couldn’t be in any ensembles anymore. I had plenty of time to be alone and I stumbled on lolita fashion again. The memory is vague, I don’t remember exactly what motivated me to look for my first piece

4 What is your favorite Lolita genre? 　→ Sweet lolita! Although I’m not sure if I will ever be OTT sweet, lol

5 Do you have any particular commitment to that genre, or your own definition of it? 　→ I’m a sweet lolita who loves fruits (mostly strawberries), and I hope I can get more prints that have desserts. The phrase “a sweet lolita who wears sweets” speaks to me

9 How many lolita friends do you have? 　→ There are many people I admire, but I don’t have any friends that are so into lolita. I do have a dear friend who likes to talk about it with me and even owns some jsks from AATP and AP, but she is constantly in fashion crisis Q^Q

10 What was the best thing about doing Lolita? 　→ I feel happy when I wear my things. Buying is also part of the fun for me, I like to collect as much of each set as I can in my preferred colorway(s)

11 On the contrary, what is the most disgusting thing? 　→ I fear for people who do not wash their clothes. In 2022 I would hope that we have all made an effort to learn laundry skills or find a dry-cleaning business owner to date

This summer I dressed up on Saturdays to go to a friend’s house to play board games. His family has never paid any mind to what I wear, so I always end up feeling comfortable

26 Please tell us the most embarrassing episode you had when you were a beginner in Lolita fashion. 　→ There was no extraordinary incident. My coords weren’t always good when I was just starting to wear the fashion, though… and it is so hard to do a suitable hairstyle

27 What is your hairstyle and color now? 　→ Long curly (3C) hair. No particular cut, and no bangs (I’m aware that I should do something about this). I tend to tie it back in a few different styles. The color is multiple shades of medium-dark brown, but I would like to dye it all a single darker shade of brown sometime

28 How long have you been in Lolita? 　→ About 2 years

29 Do you have a dedicated lolita storage space? 　→ I’m currently moving, so it’s all in storage bins rn www (although I’m planning to put it in my tiny closet at my student apartment)

30 Have you ever thought about leaving Lolita? If so, why? 　→ I think I will be much older (35?) when I start thinking about what will ultimately become of my lolita wardrobe. Right now, I’m happy. 47 Bright eyes are the hallmark of being a doll! So do you use false eyelashes? If you have any tips on how to use them, please let me know. 　→ My eyelashes are pretty full, even at the bottom. I don’t foresee myself using false eyelashes often (if at all), but nothing beats falsies

48 What is your particular eye makeup style? 　→ I have hooded eyes so I get discouraged. I could put on so much eyeshadow only for it to disappear as soon as I open my eyes. For a couple years now I’ve preferred to do my eyes like this: I put an understated amount of sparkly red under the bottom outer half of my eyes and lengthen my upper lid just a bit with thin eyeliner. Very basic, I’m trying to change T^T

49 Is your lipstick red? Blue? black? pink? 　→ I prefer gloss. Something subtle and reddish or deep pink suits me

50 What color do you often use for nail polish? 　→ Due to the nature of my major (biology) I don’t dress up my nails. Lab work could mess them up. I also keep them extremely short because I dislike the thought of bacteria under my nails

51 Have you ever changed your clothes in the toilet at the train station? 　→ Never! I get dressed, go to wherever I’m going, hang out, then go home lol

52 Have you ever had twin loli or triplet loli? Impression? 　→ Not yet! My friend in perpetual fashion crisis and I both have the Gathered Chiffon JSK, though (mine in white and hers in black x iris). I hope we will twin one day <3

53 What are you doing to keep in shape? Recommendations? 　→ Even though I could take the bus, I walk to my classes/work to manage my heart health. I recommend taking a multivitamin. In addition to my multi, I take an iron supplement and a calcium+vitamin D supplement because I'm deficient. In terms of the 2001 meaning of this question, I’m a picky eater so I have no troubles

54 Are you calm when alone in lolita? 　→ There’s no point in getting dressed to be alone. When I’m alone I like to be studying or rotting away in bed

Now that the new year is approaching soon, it’s time to look back at the Angelic Pretty print release ensemble of 2019. I wanted to pick my personal favorites from the 2019 releases. Previous years I have had separate categories for Pink and Lavender labels but this time I’ll only have one top 5 list including all the releases. I didn’t include the re-releases as they have been originally released earlier than 2019. I picked my favorite cut and colorway from each print release. This time I included also special sets.

I picked the Strawberry Doll JSK as the 2019 best Angelic Pretty piece. The print is sophisticated yet cute and the cut is beautiful and simple with just enough details like the little bows and lace on the bodice. The Dream Cat Go Round Gray Special Set OP: the gray colorway is everything you could hope for so I’m quite bummed this wasn’t part of the normal release and there is no JSK in Gray at all. This works so great in gray with delicate mint touches! It felt like many people weren’t appreciative of the fact that this was the 2019 Halloween print of Angelic Pretty so I feel like this release was underappreciated though the cat carousel theme is adorable. Just not very Halloween themed at all. Holy Rosary has huge crosses on it so it’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but how gorgeous and detailed those crosses are! The JSK cut is flattering on several body types compared to the too short bodice OP. All the colorways are beautiful but the ivory has this special delicate feel to it. It felt like a bit weird move to release the wine and navy colorways as limited releases, why not have them in the original normal release that only had black and ivory? The Fruity Lemon is the cutest Easter print ever made! Lemons and cute chicks, what more can you hope for? Well, a better OP cut would have been nice! Dream Bear OP has super cute teddy bear print and is perfect for the end of the year’s holiday season. As for so many other fantastic prints I hoped for better cuts. Again the OP is cute but the bodice seems way too short. Anyways for some people the super empire cuts might work so I guess it’s just not for everybody!

There have been some beautiful prints 2019, can’t wait to see what AP comes up next decade!

 HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE before they figure it out? He has to wonder that as perverted greens traverse over the seamless tiles ( stained with sweat & food & all sorts of disturbing substances the inmates like to finger paint with ) that expand behind her. Dr. Quinzel’s— Harley’s glossy blonde tresses assume an eerie glow in Arkham’s pale lights, one that almost makes them look plastic; like a Barbie doll. The next second, they’re painted red as lights dim & alarms echo down empty hallways.

  He only paused at the exit because she summoned him and, while he could easily discard her and her obnoxious question, perhaps he thought it would weigh heavy on his conscience. ...No. That wasn’t it. Maybe he just likes to delude himself into thinking he holds a shred of generosity; to offer her a final sweet nothing.

  “ Harley... ” His touch is cold, insulated under cloth gloves when he reaches for both her hands in a  re-enactment of some corny rom-com. When he speaks again, there is disappointment in his tone.  “ How could ever doubt me like that. ” A soft, but present, shake of his head. “ Don’t you trust me, baby doll? After everything we’ve been through... ” The lines are almost memorized and yet delivered with such flow that one could never tell he’s simply referencing a mix-mash of quotes from popular media he’s consumed.

   “ D’ya think I’d rip your heart out and wipe my butt with it like that nincompoop ex of yours? ” He wears an offended pout, but there’s something humorous in his tone, even when he’s clearly prodding at sensitive topics Quinzel entrusted in him during the sessions. How insolent. Thin brows furrow with feigned anguish and the criminal closes the distance between them with a firm kiss, offering her a taste of his signature aroma; smoke & strawberry jelly with an afternote of the disinfectant nurses use on his abomination of a face.

  “ I will be back to pick ‘ya up AS-AP, sugarplum. Promise. ” A pinky extends at that, expecting her to reciprocate; as if the lies are not blatant enough, Jerome simply had to top it off by breaking the most sacred and pristine of all promises; a pinky promise.

   It is only after he has walked out the heavy steel door that the nascent crimelord would wipe his lips clean on the back of his forearm and reveal the sinister smile that had been lurking underneath.
