hiding in plain sight . (prologue)
pairing: ao'nung x omaticayan!reader
summary: your mother worked alongside miles quartitch in the sky people battle. as a dreamwalker, similar to grace, she got pregnant (occurrence unknown.) after miles' death, the sky people retreated. you grew up alone on pandora, afraid of what was outside of your make-shift sanctuary, until one day you go hunting and bump into some of the sullys.
word count: 1.3k
warnings: like 2 seconds of angst
as you frantically scrambled around your hut of trees and leaves, a ripped (and mostly fluff-less) pillow, and organization of old blankets you found from the abandoned pods, the day you had been dreading for a few weeks had finally came.
you were out of food.
of course, for any na'vi this is no big deal, all they have to do is go hunting. however, in your case it isn't exactly that easy. the other omaticayan do not know you exist. your mother, jasmine brooks, worked for miles quartitch, who (you quickly learned) wasn't the best person to know on pandora. during the sky people war, your mother as a dream walker was concieved. although the answers to how are still unknown, you were born with five fingers, five toes, and eyebrows, resembling human features more than na'vi. the sky people had no time to react, and with no clue how to deal with you, abandoned you.
luckily, you were just about 3 years old when they abandoned you and understood the basics of life-- walking, peeling fruits and such. you had to train yourself to hunt, to make your own loincloths, and other necessities. you never went hunting much, in fear you would be discovered. so, once every three months, you would wait until night to hunt until the sun rose, to have enough food for the next few months.
the last cycle was five months ago, thank eywa for that. however, you knew you were too lucky, as your next hunting spree would need to begin today. in the morning. you had no food for the rest of the day, and you didn't want to hold out, you were skinny and rationed enough. you grabbed your bow and your arrows and carefully snuck out of your hut, beginning your day-long hunt.
about an hour has passed, and it seemed to be going great so far. you had quite a bit of spartan and yovo fruits to get you through for a week, and you decided you'd get your months worth stash next week. on your way back, you had begun to dig into a yovo fruit, one of the smaller ones, when suddenly you heard murmurs.
"tuk, keep up!" you heard a boy shout.
your ears tilted up as you turned your head in the direction of the noise. you said nothing as you backed away, afraid running would bring too much attention your way.
"bro, why'd you bring her anyway?" you heard another boy say, a hint of annoyance in his voice.
something about the scene, instead of scaring you, enticed you. you inched closer to the voices, finally stopping behind a tree. you peeked between two branches like a window as you stared at the 4. it was a na'vi boy, braids pulled back into a ponytail, leading the group. quickly following behind was a na'vi girl, younger than the rest, swaying her tail as she leapt across the log following him. a taller girl, strolled behind casually, as the human boy caught your attention, with a breathing mask on.
"she's such a crybaby." the na'vi boy huffed, and the steps on the grass you once heard stopped. "she's all, 'i'm telling! you're not supposed to go to the battlefield. i'll tell mom if you don't let me come.'"
the youngest one, most likely who tuk is, stuck her tongue out at the na'vi boy. you smiled at her remark. the older girl blurted out a quick "don't pick at her," looking at him with disapproval.
they continued on their path, and you quickly ran to drop your fruit off and follow them. it looked like they were heading to the pods, and miles' old suit. you passed by thousands of times, breathing in your mothers old mask or sitting in her pod (unfortunately someone seven, eight feet tall cant lay in a five foot pod.) you followed the familiar path as the four began to speak again.
"come on," na'vi boy spoke again. as he climbed up to the crashed ships, the three of the other companions followed.
"oh, sick." the human boy called. you began to walk further out, uninterested in the chance of "any dead bodies up there," that tuk claims to want to see. you followed the older na'vi girl, as she walked further into the nature. she brushed her fingertips against the branches and lifted her arms to twirl with the leaves, before eventually laying down in the grass. you stepped closer to her, before freezing. you saw the many atokirina that flew ahead of you, and calmly circled themselves onto the girl.
you stared in awe as she lay asleep, the spirit seeds of eywa sitting on her, before they buzzed away. it was like she just got blessed? you had no clue what happened, and reached out to one of the atokirina to graze it-
"hey!" your head whipped up to the human boy. you quickly took off, brushing past him. "what were you doing? get back here!" he shouted, dashing after you before he shouted.
"lo'ak! tackle that girl, i think she hurt kiri!" you looked around, for any signs of lo'ak, the now name-assigned na'vi boy. after not seeing him, you took off for safety before you were pinned down by lo'ak.
"who are you?" he blurted out.
"get off me!" you protested, twisting and turning as you reached for your knife.
he quickly stopped you, but froze when he grabbed your hand. slowly, he put his hand up to yours. it took you a minute to realize what he was doing, until you looked. your hands matched up perfectly, but that isn't supposed to happen unless..
"are you a dreamwalker?" you both asked, and looked at each other in shock. "what do you mean are you a dreamwalker? stop copying me. why are you saying everything i say? stop it!"
the human boy interjected. "wait, what are you guys talking about, 'dreamwalker?'"
"she has five fingers."
the boy turned to look at you, before walking up and looking at her hands. "so, what- do we take her to dad?" "no way, he'll kill us if he knew we came this far."
"he'll kill us if we don't tell him the sky people are back."
you watched the two argue for a moment, before lo'ak finally sighed and gave in. he looked back at you. "sorry dreamwalker, gotta turn you in to big boss." he said before tapping his neck, as you caught sight of the little mic he had.
"but i'm not a dreamwalker."
the boys both froze and looked at you. "so, what are you?" the human boy said.
"well, my mother was. i'm just.. a freak." you said, wiggling your pinky.
lo'ak hesitated for a bit, looking at you. he had no clue whether to believe you or not. he grew up thinking he was a freak for his fifth finger, his eyebrows, his demon blood. now, this girl that laid before him could be like him. or, she could be what he's sworn to not. a sky person. a demon. he pressed his mic.
"devil dog, devil dog this is eagle eye, over." he spoke.
after a moment, they heard static and then a male voice spoke. "eagle eye, send your traffic." the male said. you stared off into the distance.
"we found this girl, she looks like an avatar, but she says shes not a dreamwalker. she has five fingers though, and we've never seen her before." you had begun to wriggle under his grasp, not wanting to be caught. "let me go!" you protested.
"where are you?" the male on the other line said. lo'ak looked at the now returned human boy, with kiri, and hesitated before answering. kiri mouthed a snarky remark to lo'ak that you couldn't hear, but it made lo'ak wince.
"oh. we're.. we're um.. attheoldshack." he said quickly.
"who's we? who's with you?"
"me, kiri, spider... tuk."
you heard a faint gasp in the speaker on his neck, and looked over at tuk as she said to kiri, "is dad coming for us?"
"dad's coming for lo'ak's ass, definitely." lo'ak hit kiri on the shoulder, as he continued to lean on you with his knee on your back, one hand pinning your wrists together.
this just acts as a prologue for a series i have coming, i figured i should get practice writing in!

forest boy. PT.2
synopsis: while tending to neteyam and ao'nung's injuries, neteyam proposes that you learn some omaticayan healing techniques from his mother. ao'nung does not like this at all and informs his mother. now, both neytiri and ronal are trying to win you over.
pairing: ao'nung x fem! metkayina! reader x neteyam
tags: fem! metkayina! reader, neytiri and ronal fighting for their future daughter in lawđ€·, tradition being challenged, neteyam pining so hard, jealous ao'nung crumbs, arguments, adding some tension hehe, bonus sweet scene with neteyam
a/n: there are so many fics where reader pins for neteyam who's promised to another, but what if it was the other way around?
w.c: 2.6k | part 1
"Ah! Are you trying to heal me or finish me off?" Ao'nung grunts, flinching instinctively as your hands press against his cut lip. Rolling your eyes playfully, you dip your hand into a bowl filled with cool paste, smearing it across his bruised cheek.
"You can take it," you grin mischievously, applying a bit more pressure to his cheek, eliciting a wince of pain from Ao'nung. Tsireya giggles from behind you, her hands busy crushing a cluster of corals into a fine powder. "You could have used Rubrum coral instead of Heliopora. It stings less."
"It does, yes, but I think this ass deserves it after what he's done," you remark with a playful smirk. Then, you turn your attention to Neteyam, who sits in the corner. "Oh, and don't think you're exempt from this," you grin.
Neteyam chuckles in response. He leans back against the woven walls of the hut, raising his hands in mock surrender.
"Yes, ma'am," he concedes with a playful tone. You smile back, holding his gaze for a moment longer.
Ao'nung notices this and huffs, trailing his fingers up your jaw to turn your gaze back to him, "Can you just focus on patching me up?"
"Alright. Alright. I'm on it!" Shifting in his lap, you scoff and continue to apply the healing paste into his cuts and bruises.
Ao'nung watches intently, his breath held in anticipation as your lips clamp down on your bottom lip. Your brows furrow as strands of curled hair cascade over your face, framing your features. The focused and slightly disheveled look on your face draws him in, and he finds himself leaning closer and closer until his lips were hovering over the shell of your ear.
"You would make a great TsahĂŹk one day," he murmurs lowly, large hands running up the curve of your hips. Snorting, you continue to massage the paste into his chest, "Ah, shut it. You're just saying that."
"No. He is right. You would," Neteyam affirms, shifting closer until he was flush against Ao'nung's side. The Metkayinan boy shoots him a blank stare, shuffling away awkwardly with you still on his lap.
Ignoring the tension, Neteyam continues, his gaze fixed on you, "In fact, maybe you'd like to learn some healing techniques from my mother? It would be a nice way for you toâ"
"We've been over this, forest boy," Ao'nung grumbles, his voice laced with annoyance. He leans back, distancing you from Neteyam's proximity. "She doesn't need healing techniques from your people. My mother offers her all the knowledge she needs."
You roll your eyes good-naturedly at Ao'nung's response. "Alright, alright, no need to get all worked up about it," you say with a playful tone, giving him a light pat on the shoulder before turning to Neteyam.
"I would love to! It would be nice to know how Omaticayans practice healing," you smile, earning a giddy grin from Neteyam in return.
Ao'nung raises an eyebrow, seemingly taken aback by your genuine interest. "Really?" he questions, a mix of surprise and skepticism in his tone.
With a nod, you maintain your smile. "I mean it. Learning about healing practices from different cultures can be valuable. Besides, it's a chance to bond and share knowledge."
Ao'nung's face contorts with a mix of unease and discomfort at the mention of the word "bond." His brows furrow, lips drawn into a tight line as a fleeting flicker of insecurity passes through his eyes.
Neteyam chuckles and nudges Ao'nung roughly. "It is her decision," he says with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
The Omaticayan's words hang in the air, and Ao'nung's expression shifts. He didn't like the idea of you getting close to Neteyam's family at all, especially considering how forest boy over here looked at you with heart-eyes every time he saw you.
Ao'nung avoids your gaze, silently contemplating his next move. A plan begins to take shape in his mind, and he smirks.
Bathed in the gentle moonlight that filters through the walls, you find yourself inside the Sully's marui pod, accompanied by Neytiri and Neteyam. Excitement and curiosity brims up within you as you tuck a strand of hair behind your ear, leaning in closer to observe Neytiri's actions.
With a wry grin, he murmurs, "Sure, a collaborative effort sounds⊠nice."
She delicately scoops up some of the wax, cradling it in her hands. Then, with a gentle motion, she holds it up to the light, revealing its mesmerizing luminous properties. The soft glow of the orange wax enchants you, and you marvel at the beauty of this exotic substance.
Neytiri smiles at you softly, moving the wax down so you could prod at it. In the few weeks that they've been here, she has already grown a soft spot for you. Every day, as you spend more time together, she finds herself drawn to your endearing child-like curiosity.
For a fleeting moment, her gaze flickers towards her son, a knowing smirk gracing her lips as she notices the warm expression on his face.
She did not miss how Neteyam's golden eyes remained fixed on you as you engaged in lively conversation with her.
There was a flicker of longing evident in Neteyam's eyes as his mind begins to wander. He weaved fantasies of a future where you would be by his side.
And although his family has left the forest, turning the likelihood of him becoming Olo'eyktan nonexistent, his daydreams persist.
Vivid images fill his thoughts: images of you adorned with his clan's ornaments, draped in hues of greens and browns that contrast with the cerulean of your skin. He envisions you seamlessly blending with his culture, embracing the natural and tribal aesthetics that define the Omaticaya.
The warmth in his chest intensifies as he thinks and longs for all the possibilities, momentarily escaping the reality that lies beyond his control.
However, Neteyam's thoughts are abruptly interrupted as a figure emerges from the entrance, drawing his attention away from you. His gaze shifts to the imposing presence of Ronal standing by the door.
The Metkayinan TsahĂŹk regards them with a stony expression, emitting a low greeting. As she saunters into the room, hips swaying, she circles around Neytiri.
"I have heard from my son that you are teaching ways of the forest," Ronal speaks, clicking her tongue.
"I highly doubt such techniques would be of any practical use," The TsahĂŹk remarks with a hint of skepticism. Her eyes narrow slightly as she fixes her gaze on Neytiri. "Moreover, even if they were viable, where would you source the necessary materials? These are the reefs, not the jungle, after all."
Despite her agitation, Neytiri remains composed, meeting Ronal's gaze with unwavering resolve. "I am simply sharing my knowledge. Eywa provides for us abundantly, Ronal. Nature's resources are vast, and the variety of trees on this island offers a wide array of barks that can be utilized."
Ronal's expression twists into a sneer, her dissatisfaction evident. "My methods have served us well thus far. The ways of the water have their own wisdom," she retorts, her words laced with venomous pride.
As the tension lingers in the air, you shuffle forward, gesturing towards the vacant spot next to you. With a reassuring smile, you interject, "Exploring new methods can expand our knowledge and enhance our capabilities, my TsahĂŹk. It wouldn't hurt to embrace different approaches and learn from one another."
Your words hang in the air, offering a gentle invitation to Ronal, despite the resistance she displays. Shaking her head, Ronal moves squat by you. "Is that so? Well then what exactly have you learned so far?"
With critical eyes, she watches as you scoop the orange hued wax into your hands.
As you begin to explain, your words tumble out in a blurred speech, as you find yourself overly eager to share your newfound knowledge.
"This is Yalma bark," you beam. "It possesses remarkable healing properties. And the best part is, it barely stings when applied!"
You then pause for a while, your enthusiasm momentarily waning. A hint of upset crosses your features, before you quickly continue, "Unfortunately...the materials needed for it are found only in the forests."
"Which is why I truly wish for an end to this conflict," Neytiri sighs, her voice filled with longing. Her warm hand clasps over yours. "There is an abundance of it back home and I would love to show you more about our ways. My mother, the Tsahik, would be delighted to have you."
Ronal's eyes widen in alarm as she takes in Neytiri's words. The room falls silent as their gazes lock, the tension palpable. A stern expression settles on Ronal's face as she clears her throat, moving to stand before you two.
"Let me remind you, Neytiri, that this girl is under my supervision," Ronal asserts firmly. Her tone carries an undertone of warning. "She is Tsakarem. A position not to be taken lightly. She is my chosen successor."
Silence falls once more and Neteyam keenly senses the escalating tension in the room. With a nod of understanding, he swiftly makes his exit, recognizing the need to give you all space to navigate the delicate topic.
WIth the departure of her son, Neytiri moves to stand, her eyes meeting Ronal's with unwavering resolve. "Tsireya, your daughter, is also Tsakarem, is she not?"
With deliberate steps, Ronal saunters over, reaching out to place a hand against your head, a gesture that carries both possessiveness and authority. "Tsireya studies as well, but Y/N here has excelled in her learning. And I hope you have not forgotten that she is promised to my son."
"Oh, you have made that abundantly clear. I don't need to hear another one of your lectures," Unyielding, Neytiri stands her ground, her eyes narrowing at Ronal's admonishment.
"Then you would know that their path has already been laid out before them! I do not need outsiders like you meddling in," Ronal snarls, fangs bared.
"You hinder them," Neytiri counters, her voice growing more impassioned.
"A-Ah, it is very late at night," you say with an awkward laugh, trying to lighten the mood. "I'm sure we are all exhausted. Why don't we take a moment to rest and gather our thoughts?"
Despite your attempt to diffuse the tension, the underlying apprehension remains palpable, casting a shadow over the situation.
With a huff, Ronal turns to leave the pod, bidding Neytiri a curt "Goodnight." Neytiri, clearly displeased, scoffs in response and moves further into the room.
With a sigh of resignation, you bow apologetically to the Omaticayan woman and obediently trail behind your Tsahik.
As you walk together along the intricate woven paths, Ronal turns to you, her expression grim.
"You understand where your duty lies, don't you?" she asks, her voice firm.
The moon casts its gentle glow upon the sandy beach, and a symphony of nocturnal creatures fills the air. Lost in your thoughts, you stroll along the shoreline, unaware of the soft patter of feet approaching, and the presence that looms closer.
Letting out another weary sigh, you nod your head in acknowledgement. "Yes, TsahĂŹk."
"Hey," a low voice greets and you turn to see a familiar forest boy before you. Smiling at him, you slow down to stroll by his side, "Hey you."
Neteyam smiles bashfully, his hand nervously rubbing the back of his neck. A comfortable silence settles between you before he finally speaks, his accented voice carrying a slight tremor. "Do you usually take walks at this hour?"
"Mhm," you affirm, pausing briefly before answering in a hushed tone. "I do. It's peaceful at night⊠The air feels cooler, and it's a chance for me to unwind and let my mind wander."
"Especially since there's a lot of thinking going on up here," you chuckle, tapping the side of your head with your knuckles.
"And what about you?" you question.
Neteyam perks up, his tail swishing behind him anxiously. "Ah, I just happened to spot you from afar. I thought I'd join youâŠIf that's alright."
"Of course, it's more than alright," you reply with a warm smile, genuinely pleased by his company. The moon's soft glow highlights his sharp features, casting a dreamlike aura around him. The two of you continue your leisurely stroll, side by side, as the rhythmic crashing of the waves provides a soothing backdrop.
Curiosity dances in Neteyam's eyes as he gathers the courage to ask, "What were you lost in thought about earlier?"
You take a moment to collect your thoughts, a tad bit touched by his attentiveness. "Oh. I'm just reflecting. TheâŠ'conversation' I had earlier with both Neytiri and Ronal left me in deep thoughts, pondering the choices and paths that lie ahead."
Returning the curiosity, you inquire, "What about you, Neteyam? Has something been occupying your mind lately?"
Neteyam lets out a soft hum, and the words escape his lips before he can fully comprehend their weight, "You."
As you take a moment to process his unexpected response, your heart flutters at his confession. The poor boy's face instantly flushes into a deep rich indigo, and his nervousness becomes palpable. In a hasty attempt to backtrack, he stumbles over his words, looking utterly endearing in his flustered state.
A soft chuckle escapes your lips, breaking the tension that lingers between you. "No need to be so nervous, Nete," you reassure him, a warm and genuine smile forming on your lips. "Your answer simply caught me off guard, that's all."
The boy clears his throat, a hint of awkwardness lingering in the air as you continue your walk together. After a few minutes of ambling along the shoreline, a subtle change in the atmosphere prompts you to halt in your tracks. Looking up, you realize that you have arrived at the entryway of your marui pod.
Turning to face Neteyam, you feel a tender smile grace your lips, a silent acknowledgment of the connection that has grown between you.
In a swift motion, you close the distance between you two, leaning in to press a delicate kiss upon his cheek.
Then, drawing back slightly, you maintain eye contact, savoring the lingering intimacy of the moment. Neteyam's bright eyes were blown wide open, pools of golden bronze and sunshine yellow piercing through you.
"Thank you for the walk," you murmur, your voice tender and sincere. "I will see you tomorrow, yes?"
Dazed and pleasantly surprised by the sweet gesture, Neteyam hastily nods his head, a blush still lingering on his cheeks.
With a final, gentle glance, you turn away, stepping towards the entrance of your marui pod. The soft crunch of sand under your feet accompanies your departure, while Neteyam stands there, gazing after you with a mixture of awe and disbelief, his heart still running wild from the tenderness of your gesture.
As you enter the sanctuary of your marui pod, the fabric flaps fall shut behind you. And just as you begin to settle into the comforting embrace of your hammock, Neteyam's triumphant shout echoes through the air.

Pairing: Ao'nung x omaticayan! fem!reader
Summary: You have a brother??
Warnings: Angst
Author's note: hellooo, I'm so happy that part 1 of this fanfic got over 10 notes. Thank you so much! Leave a comment I love them
Credits: For the whole plot idea I have for this fanfic I have to credit and thank @lorre-verie <3
- Let me go, pxasik! Lorre seethed with rage, feeling her blood boiling with frustration as she struggled to break free from the grip of the Naâvi boy who was guiding her ahead.
- Hey, do you think sky people let people our age to Pandora now? Spider asked, not far behind Loâak
Lo'ak suddenly diverted his attention to the ground as he veered off in the opposite direction of where he was supposed to go.
- What is it? Kiri asked, turning around to her brother in annoyance
- Weâre always supposed to be home by eclipse. Tuk said, noticing her brother and Spider kneel down on the ground as they were looking at something.
Loâak touched the foot print with his hand, noticing the footprints going toward the deep forest.
- Itâs way too big for a human.
- Avatars?
- Maybe, but they're for sure not ours.
- Dad was right. If the sky people are back they are somewhere in here. We have to - Loâak! Kiri said, watching her brother follow the footsteps, - What are you doing?
- Shh, I'm tracking. Loâak and the spider continued walking, carefully following the footprints left behind. As they moved forward, Loâak's grip on Lorre's wrist grew tighter
As they approached the dilapidated shack, Lorre flattened her ears against her head, detecting a new and unfamiliar scent the closer they came.
Suddenly, they stopped. Peering through the bushes, spotting Naâviâs in uniforms walking around the old shack.
- We are never supposed to come here. Kiri whispered, - Dad is going to ground you.
- Shh. Can you stop?
- For life!
Loâak glared at his sister, turning his attention to Lorre before turning to Spider, - Bro, we have got to check this out. Letâs go. Loâak and Spider slowly proceeded ahead, releasing their grip on Lorreâs wrist. Lorre exchanged a glance with Kiri, who shook her head and then grasped Lorre's hand.
- I can just leave you guy-
- No.
Lorre let out a slow breath, her lips pressing into a thin line. She squinted, straining to make out the figures of the Naâvi clad in their distinct uniforms.
A few minutes later, Loâak and Spider returned.
- We have to call this in. Loâak said, pressing on his mic again. Lorre moved, sitting down on the grass when she felt her legs start to hurt.
- Devil Dog, Devil Dog, This is Eagle Eye, Over.
- Are you back already? The voice on the other line asked
Loâak cursed under his breath, - No, sir, I got eyes on some guys. They look like avatars, but they're in full camo and carrying ARs. There are six of them. Over.
- Whatâs your pos? Over.
- Um⊠weâre at the old shack.
Silence. Lorre bit the inside of her cheek, feeling the anxiety rise in her chest.
- Boy, I told you to get back. Get the hell out of there, you hear me? Move! Over. The voice on the other line raised itâs voice.
Lorre sighed and stood, rising to follow the Na'vi, with Kiri's hand still gently holding hers.
- Youâre going to be in so much trouble. Kiri scolded as they all walked at a fast, but quiet pace, further from the old shack.
- Shh! Kiri, stop.
- Guys, come on.
- Itâs almost eclipse, come on.
Suddenly, a Na'vi soldier emerged from the bushes, seizing Tuk as she let out a startled scream.
- Tuk!
Spider aimed his bow, snarling in defiance as more Na'vi appeared, their guns trained on us. Lorre's heart raced, oblivious to the fact that Kiri's hand was no longer holding hers.
- Put it down! Down! One of the Navi soldiers yelled
- Put it down or iâll shoot you!
Lorre fixed a steely gaze on the soldier before hissing, knife in hand, as she stood firmly between Loâak and Kiri.
- With me.
Someone said among the chaos, Spider not giving up as his bow was fixed on the Navi holding Tuk.
- Drop it! Right now!
Lorre noticed Loâak drop his bow slowly, turning his head to tell the others to drop their bows too.
- Do not move! Put your hands up!
Lorre hissed one last time, dropping her knife on the ground
- TĂŹyawn fĂŹtseng [put it down]. Loâak said to Kiri, who dropped her bow on the ground carefully
- Spider!
- Hands up!
Spider sighed, putting his bow on the ground.
- Get âem! Get âem!
At the same moment, the Na'vi in uniforms approached and seized your hands. One of them kicked Kiri's legs, causing her to collapse onto her knees while he restrained her.
Another soldier grabbed Lorre by her kuru, making her hiss in pain as she too fell to her knees.
- Kiri!
- Get down!
- Stop fighting!
Lorre grunted, pressing her free hand against her kuru in an attempt to free herself from the Na'viâs grasp.
- Check âem for weapons!
- Kiri! Tuk whimpered, looking at her older sister in fear
- Tuk! Mawey, Mawey. [calm, calm.]
- Shut up. Don't move.
- What have we here? One of the Na'vi in uniform spoke from the center, glancing over all of you.
Lorreâs breath caught in her throat. It was Quaritch. The sight filled her with dread. Terror gripped her as she quickly lowered her head, her heart pounding, praying to Eywa that he wouldnât notice her.
The pull on her kuru made her wince, but she kept her head lowered in horror. Her father was right in front of her. The one person she feared next to Eywa, was right in front of her.
Quaritchâs gaze moved to Spider, and then he adjusted his gun to his back and turned to face Loâak before one of his soldiers got his attention.
- Hey, Colonel, check it out. He held Kiriâs hand in front of him, showing him her fingers. Four fingers. - Check it out. Four fingers. We got a half-breed.
As Quaritch stepped forward to Kiri, the soldier grabbed her kuru, causing her to scream in pain. She breathed heavily, watching as Quaritch turned to Loâak.
- Show me your fingers. He pointed to Loâak, standing in front of him.
Lorre could feel her heart almost beating out of her chest as she placed her arms behind her back, clinching her five fingers in a fist.
Loâak, kneeling with a gun pointed at his head, glared at Quaritch and flipped him off with both hands.
Quaritch chuckled, a smirk appearing on his face, - Youâre his, aren't you?
Loâak snarled at him, his tail moving to the side.
- Youâre his, all right.
Quaritch suddenly grabbed Loâakâs kuru, making him stand up as he groaned in pain
- Loâak, dont!
He pulled on Loâakâs kuru, watching him growl at him, - Where is he?
Loâak didnât speak, earning another pull of his Kuru.
- Ngaytxoa, oe yemstokx't plltxe 'ĂŹnglĂŹsĂŹ tsonta tskitan. [Sorry, i don't speak English to buttholes]
- Tsenga lu your sempul? [Where is your father?] Quaritch asked the smirk on his face faded, tugging on Loâakâs kuru again.
Lorre could barely make out what he had asked, since his Naâvi was poor. Loâak snarled in pain, glaring at Quaritch.
- Really? You wanna play it this way? Quaritch took out his pocket knife, aiming to Loâak before dropping him on the ground roughly, walking towards Kiri.
- Kiri, hey, stop!
- Hey, don't touch her!
- Kiri!
Lorre kept her head down in terror, not wanting to look on whatâs about to happen.
- Dont hurt her, please.
Quaritch turned to Spider, looking at the human boy hissing at him.
- Whatâs your name, kid?
Spider panted, - Spider⊠Socorro.
Lorreâs head jerked up in shock, her ears flattened and her mouth slightly open. Socorro..?
How was he a Socorro when she was a Socorro?
Did she have a brother?
Quaritch looked at the boy in disbelief, taking the information in
No, no, no, no
He can't be
He can't be her br-
Quaritchâs mouth opened slightly, ordering his soldier to let go of Spider as he kneeled to his level.
- Miles?
- Nobody calls me that.
Lorreâs mind reeled. A brother? How could she not have known? Her thoughts scrambledâwas he older? Younger? Her breath quickened as she stared at them, panic rising, praying they wouldnât notice her.
- Well, Iâll be dammed⊠I figured they sent you back to Earth.
- They can't put babies in cryo, dipshit.
Quaritch tilted his head to the side, and with a simple gesture, one of the soldiers grabbed Spider again while Quaritch stood up.
Lorre let out a quiet gasp, quickly lowering her head again.
- What are we doinâ boss?
Quaritch glanced at Spider for a brief moment before turning away, shifting his attention to the mic on his neck. - Iron Sky, Blue One, Actual.
- Blue One, Iron Sky, send your traffic. The female voice on the other line said.
- We are standing by for the extract, over.
- Dragonfly cominâ left, we are go or extract. The male voice answered
- Be advised, that we are bringinâ in high-value prisoners.
- Let us go!
- Shut up.
- Sit tight, Blue one. Weâre inbound to your post.
- Thatâs bingo in ten. Weâre on the clock. Over.
The Na'vi soldiers shoved you forward, compelling you to sit down on the ground.
- Sit down. On the dirt!
- Get down on the ground!
One of the soldiers slammed Lorre to the ground, forcing her into a sitting position while pressing the barrel of a gun against her head to ensure she didnât move.
- Lyle, Get me some audio on this. Quaritch said, holding one of the Holographic tablets.
Lorre turned her head slowly, watching Lyle press some buttons on the tablet.
- Shut your mouth! One of the female Naâvi said, forcing Kiri to sit down.
- Thatâs Sullyâs woman. Quaritch said, watching the old footage of his humanâs form death.
- Sheâs an animal.
- Give it up, Quaritch. A Naâvi in the tablet footage spoke directly into the camera.
- Sully.
- Itâs all over.
- Son of a bitch.
- Nothingâs over while I'm breathinâ. Quaritchâs human voice said in the footage
- I kinda hoped youâd say that.
Lorre quickly turned her head around, hearing the screams come from the tablet.
ââââââââ
It was well beyond the eclipse, and the night was thick with a heavy, oppressive silence. Lorre felt the cold, uneven raindrops dribble onto her shoulder, each drop sending a shiver racing down her spine. She stood there, forced to remain with the rest of the Sully kids, feeling her legs slowly give up from all the standing, her body rigid with tension.
As she closed her eyes and took a shuddering breath, she tried to center herself, drawing her focus to the surrounding forest. Every subtle rustle and distant murmur made her ears twitch. The weight of impending doom pressed heavily on her, and she knew that if her end was to come by her father's hand, she would seek solace by reconnecting with Eywa.
- Blue One, stand by ready. We are three minutes out. The voice from the mic came through muffled, causing Lorre to furrow her brows in frustration. As she tried to tune into the forest sounds once more, the same fear tightened in her chest, making it difficult to focus on anything but the growing tension around her.
- Heads up, three minutes. Quaritchâs voice filled the backround.
Lorre noticed the way Tuk reacted to the distant yipping. She looked up, not noticing any reaction from the Naâvi soldier who was holding her, she furrowed her brows in confusion.
Turning her head to Spider, whose attention was also drawn to the yipping, this time sounding as if it was approaching closer.
Kiri chanted in Naâvi quietly, earning a tug of her kuru from the Naâvi soldier who was holding her.
- Shut up!
Kiri ignored the pain, chanting a little louder this time.
Suddenly, a bow flew straight into the Naâvi soldier who was holding Kiri. She fell to the ground, dead on the spot.
- Contact near!
The sudden yell made Lorre flinch, noticing that no one was holding Kiri and Spider anymore.
Quaritch began firing in the direction from which the arrow had struck one of his soldiers
The barrage of gunfire erupted around Lorre, forcing her to the ground. She crawled desperately toward Kiri and Spider, her breaths coming in heavy, uneven gasps. Amid the chaos, she glimpsed Loâak releasing the green gas from one of the Naâvi soldiersâ camo and biting the Naâvi soldier who still held his Kuru.
Tuk followed along, biting the female Naâvi that was holding her and running off to find Loâak.
- Ow! You little shit!
- Loâak!
- Tuk, come on. Go, go, go!
Loâak led Tuk away from the soldiers, running into the forest
- Get back here!
- Run! Spiderâs urgent yell cut through the chaos as he sprinted away with Kiri. Lorre, her heart hammering and fear surging, tore after them, running for her life from her father.
- Grab emâ!
One of the soldiers grabbed Kiri by the kuru, halting her escape. In that split second, an arrow struck her directly in the head, dropping her lifelessly to the ground and letting go of Kiri.
- Come on! Lorre yelled, watching as Kiri and Spider followed her as they ran.
They plunged further into the forest, the wet grass nearly causing Lorre to slip. Gasping for air, she glanced anxiously at the dense trees before running forward
- Go, go, go! Spiderâs voice sounded right behind Lorre as they stepped onto the large tree branches
The sudden explosion right onto the branch they were walking on, violently threw Spider off balance. He tumbled to the ground with a scream and disappeared around the large wines.
- Spider? Kiri suddenly halted and spun around, causing Lorre to follow suit. She nearly lost her footing, her panic making her struggle to keep her balance.
- Spider! Kiri yelled to the ground, hoping to see Spider anywhere.
Suddenly, their mother, Neytiri, descended onto the branch from the vines above, her gaze shifting between her daughter and Lorre.
- Kiri! Come! Come on! Neytiri shouted to her daughter, leaping over her kneeling form to grasp her hand and pull her to her feet.
Lorre nodded to herself, stepping back before spinning around and sprinting away, the sounds of Neytiri and Kiriâs voices echoing behind her.
She ran straight into the other Sully kids, letting out a startled snarl. The sound of Kiriâs and Neytiriâs approaching footsteps grew louder behind her.
- Weâre clear. Everyone okay? Jake asked over the noise, checking his children for any injuries.
Tuk shoved past Lorre and raced toward her mother, who was closing in with Kiri from behind. - Mom!
- Tuk! Neytiri cried, holding her youngest child tightly.
Jake hugged his sons, resting his head on Neteyamâs. - Itâs okay, itâs okay, weâre okay.
- Oh, thank you, Great Mother, thank you. Neytiri sobbed, kissing the top of Tukâs head, reaching out to hug Kiri.
Lorre pinned her ears down, watching the family hug each other as they thanked Ewya for keeping them safe.
- Whereâs spider? Jake asked his Kiri
- They took him. Lorre spoke up abruptly, her words drawing their attention. She gulped, feeling the weight of Neytiriâs and Jakeâs stares as they turned to her.
- They took him! Kiri repeated, beginning to sob
- Okay, itâs alright, baby girl. Jake soothed his daughter, allowing her to embrace her mother while she sobbed into her shoulder, turning his attention back to Lorre.
- Alright kid, letâs have a look at you. Jake said, stepping forward to the girl. - Whatâs your name?
Lorreâs mouth slightly parted, feeling their gazes on her, - Lorre. Lorre te Secorra Tsuâli. She whispered, watching Jakeâs eyes widen slightly.
- Socorro.. Your mother was Paz Socorro?..

basically:Â - reader is the oldest child of ronal and tonowari by a few seconds (fraternal twins w/ ao'nung, you can imagine yourself however you like) - No idea how old tsireya actually is so i'm saying shes 1 year younger than reader and aoânung for the sake of my sanity - Take a shot everytime you see the word âyouâ or âyourâ
warnings: literally 90% no neteyam in this part because this is like the backstory of the readerâs life. parents being overbearing per usual, feeling guilty for putting yourself over others, literally nothing else idk
dictionary:Â
tsaheylu: the bond/neural connection made between two beings gill mantle: the creature that provides the ability to respire underwater (given to Neytiri by Kiri when they were swimming out of the sunken ship) marui: the tents the naâvi live in Tree of Souls: the tree that is said to be the closest connection to Eywa on Pandora (the tree that helped Jake transfer into his avatar body permanently) irayo: "thank you" in the na'vi language
part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4 | part 5 | masterlist
Both you and your twin brother Aoânung had been considered blessed gifts from Eywa ever since the day you both were born.
at least that's what every elder in Awaâatlu said to the both of you, for as long as you two could remember. The first twins in the Metkayina clan to have been born for hundreds of years, they emphasised.
Since you were just children, it had already been clear to the whole village that you and Aoânung were far more talented than other kids, and your parents, especially your father, were extremely proud of the both of you for that reason, his chest always puffing out more than usual and lips turned into a smile whenever someone complimented his children in front of him.
At the age of 7, you both were skilled at using your spears, having amazingly swift reaction time and swimming at speeds comparable to other naâvi 2 times your age. Everyone around you would always whisper in awe of both of your talents, always speaking highly of both of you equally, since you were on par with one another.
But despite how similar you both were in talent and intelligence, it was clear which one of you had the heart of a leader.Â
You were always one step ahead of Aoânung, especially in the literal sense, protecting him and guiding him through the waters, teaching him to do things that you learned first. And whenever you played with the other children and a fight ensued, you always were quick to find the way to a peaceful solution.
Your parents noticed this of course, and they quickly started talking about you becoming the future oloâeyktan during family dinners, which at first you had no opposition to, instead beaming at the prospect of becoming a leader for your brothers and sisters.Â
But inevitably throughout the years you grew tired. Tired of your mother always nagging you about looking presentable even if you were only going for a walk along the shore, tired of your father always expecting nothing less than exceptional from you, tired of everyone around you always asking for assistance in everyday tasks and being the person that they looked for when disagreements started.
Of course, you loved your family and your people. But it truly drained you to put their needs over your own. You had no time to enjoy the feeling of the water brushing against your skin, to take in the beauty of Pandoraâs waters and the underwater creatures that Eywa created.Â
Your siblings Aoânung and Tsireya, despite having their own expectations from your parents, were still always able to have fun and enjoy the waters and make close friends that they could trust and talk to, while you were stuck helping the elderly and the young.Â
But every time you thought of rejecting helping others it always hurt you inside, because what were you doing thinking like that? You were the future oloâeyktan, you couldnât not help your people, right?
It wasnât like you didnât have the ability to help, you were very much capable, so everytime you had the thought to say no, you pushed it far away in the back of your mind, thinking you were selfish for even coming up with such an absurd idea.
But one morning when you were 13, you finally had quite enough of having to endure all your responsibilities. So you did what every other pubescent teenager would do; you formed an escape plan.
In the bright and early morning when you know absolutely nobody would be awake, you snuck past your parents and siblings while they slept, going out of your familyâs marui, asking for forgiveness from Eywa with every step you took.
But you didnât regret it, not for a second. Once you were far enough from all the marui, you ran to one of the shores farthest from the centre of the island. At last, you were able to really feel the sand between your toes and take a deep breath of the salty air.Â
It smelled of the ocean, you thought, while closing your eyes and outstretching your arms, your smile so big it hurt. You walked along the beach a little while longer, relishing in your extremely rare moment of freedom and alone time.Â
Until you heard the morning horn sound. Your smile instantly disappeared, realising that soon people would be up and about and that you would have to return to your duties.Â
No, your heart said. I donât want to. And for once, your brain didnât tell you to go back. It didnât say you were being selfish.
Instead, your heart rate went faster, every beat against your chest urging you to run. So you disappeared in the glittering water before anyone could see, swimming away while being careful to not be seen and only coming up for air behind rocks.Â
You didnât know where you were swimming, you just wanted to be somewhere that wasnât surrounded by other naâvi constantly asking for help right after you were done assisting another.Â
Through tsaheylu, you attached a gill mantle to your back, allowing you to breathe under the water. Since you didnât need to resurface for a while, you swam at your own pace, enjoying the colourful sea life that surrounded you.
The coldness on your skin was refreshing, you could finally enjoy the feeling of swimming deep into the water without bringing a spear to hunt fish. You glided through the water, closing your eyes to focus your senses on the feeling of the water all around your body.
You felt a disturbance in the water near you, like someone was next to you. When you opened your eyes, you realised you were face to face with a baby ilu staring at you with curiosity.
Looking around, you saw great amounts of colourful fish and coral, meaning you were in the part within the reef that naâvi rarely came to, the one with the great sea mountain.Â
The reason it was near empty was because it was forbidden to prevent hunting around that area, an order issued by your great-great grandmother who was once oloâeyktan.
And you knew nobody in their right mind would swim down this deep without the purpose of hunting; most would only swim near the surface if they chose to come here. This is it, you thought to yourself as you smiled at the ilu, it swimming circles around you in response, examining your features.Â
While looking at the sand below you admiring the seashells shining in the light, you saw a large dark blue boulder heavily covered in seaweed. On the top of it, you noticed a bright purple fish struggling to get free, some of the seaweed tangled around its fins, preventing it from escaping.Â
You swam down, concerned for the helpless creature. You carefully unwrapped the seaweed from around its tail, then its dorsal fin. With that, the fish was free, and it spared no time swimming away from you. But not to the ocean with the rest of its friends, no. It swam behind the big rock, then disappeared.Â
Confused, you made your way to the other side, examining the seaweed all over it while wondering where the fish could have possibly gone.Â
Then you saw it; behind all the seaweed there was a small opening, like a tunnel of sorts. Lifting up the seaweed around it, you discovered that the tunnel was much bigger than you originally thought, enough to fit an adult male naâvi.Â
Peering into it, you almost gasped. You saw bioluminescent plants arranged in a beautiful pattern across the walls of the tunnel. They reminded you of old metkayinan patterns that used to be woven into the cloth your people would use for formal ceremonies, but alas that was a long time ago.Â
The art was long lost, except for the leftover worn down cloth that your father kept draped over your familiesâ marui, as a reminder of who our ancestors were. You always looked at the pattern before you went to sleep, the cloth dangling above your head and serving as yet another reminder of your responsibilities.Â
But now, you were able to admire it for its beauty. The patterns twisted into curls at the end, the lines mimicking the waves of the ocean. It was certainly old, you deduced, since some of the plants had grown, bleeding out into the grooves between the rocks of the tunnel.
Where did this tunnel come from? Who arranged the plants in this way? Did anyone know about this? These questions flooded your mind as you moved forward, swimming through the tunnel. It dipped deep below the sand, the only light you had to guide you were the plants on the wall, glowing purple and blue. Your hands pushed you forward as you placed them on both sides of the tunnel, propelling you forward.
It had been around 2 minutes of seemingly endless swimming when you finally saw a light in front of you. When you finally made it out of the tunnel, you were met with an astonishing sight.
A cave greeted you, with a huge air pocket that allowed you to poke your head out of the water. You removed the bond that attached you to the gill mantle, letting it go back through the tunnel and leaving you alone to marvel at this cave of wonders.Â
There were flat rocks shaped like stairs which you stepped on, and the walls of the cave were smoother than most, almost like theyâd been carved into and perfected with a tool.
There were paintings and maps hung and scattered on the cave walls, adorned with colourful seashells on the corners. In the corner, lay a delicate carving into the rock of a mighty tulkun with its tattoos in all of its glory, a small calf following it.Â
Algae youâd never seen before were growing on the rocks underneath your feet and on the ceiling, hanging down like what you heard the flora that grew on the Vitraya Ramunong (Tree of Souls) would look like.
On the smooth rock floor in front of you there was a large hammock hooked up with woven cloth, and as you stepped closer to it, you noticed something.Â
Grazing your fingertips on the edges of the hammock, you observed the same metkayinan pattern that decorated the tunnel woven here. You inspected the maps that were on the walls; maps of Awaâatlu and the other islands surrounding it. Beautiful paintings of tulkun and other sea creatures, the pigment extracted from the colourful plant life in the reef, more vibrant than any other paintings you had seen before.
Your eyes were simply open in shock and in awe of all the beauty. Perhaps Eywa had shown you this cave for a reason. Perhaps she had seen that you needed a place to escape to and gifted you the honour of finding this place.Â
That night when you went home, you watched the area, wondering if anyone would sneak out to go in the direction of the reef to go to the cave. But nobody ever did. And everytime you went back, it was always exactly how youâd left it.Â
For the next 2 years, you had escaped to that cave every time you felt overwhelmed, even staying for a nap in the hammock a few times. No one had ever questioned where you went, always assuming you were out helping others.Â
Sometimes you returned with fish you hunted from the other reefs just to steer clear of suspicions. Of course, you never stayed in there for too long, only going in between duties for a break to avoid more being piled onto you.
It was your sanctuary.
âTsireya! Where are you going?â you asked your little sister, catching up to her as she walked along the beach which was teeming with your people. Kids were playing, adults were preparing to go hunting, and the elderly were weaving baskets and garments to wear. For the metkayina, this was the usual.
She recognized the sound of your voice, turning around with a smile. âY/n! I was just about to go feed the ilu. Want to come with me?â she said, looking at you hopefully. Your relationship with your sister was not as close as the bond you shared with your brother, of course, but you still cherished her for she was in your eyes, adorable.Â
You smiled back, agreeing. She waved her hand as a signal for you to follow her. âSo..â you glanced at Tsireya. As you both walked together you asked her, âHave you been considering anyone lately, sister?â A cheeky grin appeared on your face as her cheeks turned slightly purple.Â
She pursed her lips, using her right hand to tuck her hair behind her ear. âWell, noâŠnot really. None of the boys interest me.â You raised your not-eyebrows in slight surprise. None of them? âAnd of the girls?â you inquired, folding your arms while slightly speeding up to get a better look at her face. âNone.â she responded, avoiding your gaze nervously.Â
The wind from the sea blew against her face as she stepped into the water, you still looking at her in slight shock. Out of all the people, none of them had interested her? You were absolutely sure she was interested in one of the boys, LĂ€lo, who had always made her laugh and always gave her gifts to show his interest.
âTheyâre nice, of course. But⊠I just donât feel a spark with them.â she said, lowering her head and her ears pointed down, as if she expected you to be upset.
Your whole family thought she would accept LĂ€loâs courtship, always looking fondly upon them whenever he invited her for a walk. Your face morphed from one of shock into sympathy, reaching out a hand to put on her shoulder.
âThereâs no rush sister, you donât need to be ashamed of anything. Love is something thatâs unpredictable, and one day Eywa will bless you in finding your future mate. You donât need to worry about that now.â you reassured her, and she gave you a smile that almost melted your heart. âIrayo, y/n.â
You both waded through the water to the iluâs feeding area, signing a quick I see you to the ilu keeper. When you were feeding one of the babies, Tsireya suddenly questioned, âAnd you?â. You turned your head in confusion, but she continued feeding the mother ilu. âWhat?â
âDo you have anyone youâre interested in?â her smile turned into the same grin you had on your face earlier. Before you could respond, a horn sounded.
Multiple shadows were cast on you both, and disappeared as soon as they came. Looking up, you saw multiple mountain banshees flying down towards a blank spot near the marui, the horn continuing to sound. This was certainly not a normal occurrence.Â
You shared a look with your sister, and you both rode your ilu to the spot they landed, diving into the water first before resurfacing and brushing some of your wet hair out of your face while walking onto dry land. When you got there, whole bunches of your people had already surrounded the omaticayans, including your brother and his friend Rotxo.Â
âItâs too small, how are they supposed to swim?â Rotxo said, pointing at their tails while Aoânung laughed. Tsireya was quick to silence them, âDo not, Rotxo and Aoânung!â she scolded them, as you walked next to her and watched the omaticayans who were still raising their hands to show they meant no harm.
She sighed, then turned her gaze to one of the younger male forest people who had two braids dangling in front of his face, shooting her a simple âHey.â She smiled and looked down, and you tried to contain your laughter by covering your mouth as you recognized the look he gave your sister, failing to notice someone else also giving you a similar look.Â
All of a sudden, the sound of skimwings splashing the water as they moved could be heard. Both metkayina and omaticaya turned their heads to witness your father flying over the crowd and landing back in the water on the opposite side.Â
You whispered to Tsireya, âDoes he always have to be so dramatic?â, and she put a hand in front of her mouth to keep her from laughing.Â
As your father and the omaticayans exchanged greetings, your mother approached, a confused look in her eye. âWhy do you come to us, Jake Sully?â your father asked.
You slightly gasped at the mention of his name, recognizing the tallest males' non-naâvi features. He had strange hairs over his eyes and an extra finger and toe, which you recognized on two of the other children.Â
Jake Sully, who was once part of the Sky People and known throughout Pandora as the newest Toruk Makto, was here in Awaâatlu? You couldnât believe your eyes. Was this his family?
âWe seek uturuâ, he said bravely, outstretching his arms. You heard murmurs spread throughout the crowd. Uturu? Jake Sully? Toruk Makto? were the words you heard repeated the most. Why would they need to seek uturu in the home of a stranger?, you yourself wondered, tilting your head in confusion.Â
âUturu?â your mother repeated, to confirm she was hearing correctly. âA sanctuary for my family.â Jake Sully said in affirmation. Your parents shared a glance before your mother stalked towards them, inspecting their features.Â
âWe are reef people, you are forest people, your skills will mean nothing here.â your father said. âSo we will learn your ways,â Jake Sully responded, before looking at who you could only assume was his mate, Neytiri. You have heard of her amazing skills in the war between the omaticaya and the sky people, and your eyes shimmered with adoration when you looked at her.Â
âRight?â he asked his mate, before your mother took her tail between her hands without saying anything. You groaned internally. She never did have a sense of personal space, especially after she became the official TsahĂŹk after your grandmother died (may she rest in the Great Motherâs arms.)Â
She grabbed the youngest oneâs arm, and said âTheir arms are thin.â, the little girl pouting and retreating to the safe embrace of her mother after yours let her arm go.Â
âTheir tails,â she added, grabbing the tail of another girl with a uniquely shaped nose, almost like that of the Sky People, as she exclaimed in slight agitation and slapped your mothers hand away, âare weak,â she frowned. âYou will be slow in the water.â
You looked at the girl again. She had a woven shawl around her neck, probably shielding her from being too cold on the ride here. Your mother grabbed her hands one by one, showing them to the clan.Â
âThese children-" she paused, her eyes widening, "are not even true Naâvi!â, she announced, your people gasping in shock. âYes we are!â she said back to her, and you felt a slight twinge of guiltiness in your heart for your mothers behaviour, even though it was not yours to control.Â
She walked to the boy that Tsireya was looking at before and grabbed his hand, also raising it up for your people to see.Â
âThey have demon blood!â she announced again, the boyâs head hanging low, only being able to look down at the sand below him as gasps mixed with shock and outrage again rose from the metkayina that surrounded you all. Another boy who you assumed was his brother, looked at her in slight annoyance.Â
You did not blame him, for your mother had clearly overstepped her boundaries this day. You glanced towards your sister, her face twisted into one of guilt and sympathy, and you guessed she was feeling a similar sentiment.
You put your left hand on her shoulder, whispering, âItâs alright. I will talk to mother about this later.â you tried to muster a smile but you could not, looking at the little omaticayan girl that was absolutely crestfallen, hugging her sisterâs leg.Â
You couldnât bring yourself to look at them anymore, even as Neytiri started to talk in defence of her mate. You turned your gaze to your brother, who despite whispering something into Rotxoâs ear, was still being stupidly loud enough that you could hear.Â
âMy mother is right, Rotxo. They will be useless here. Just look at how ridiculous that oneâs hand looks!â he snickered. You felt anger boil up in your body as you walked over to him, still bent down and whispering.Â
You grabbed him by the ear, pulling him through and away from the crowd, unaware of a certain pair of yellow eyes fixed on you both.
âAoânung! How could you say such foul things about them like that! You as the son of the oloâeyktan have to be responsible! Not ill-mannered like a child!â you scolded him, still pulling on his ear as he hissed in pain.
âOkay, okay Iâm sorry!â he apologised in a panic, trying to slap your hand away.Â
âDo not let me catch you doing it again, skxawng! At least do not be so loud that they can hear you!â you hissed as you slapped the back of his head, him looking away from you with agitation once he was free from your vice-like grip.Â
The nerve of your skxawng of a brother sometimes. You rolled your eyes, walking back to your original position next to your sister.Â
You saw the youngest hugging her father, whispering âDo we have to go?â as he reassured her âShh, weâll be okay.â Your ears drooped at the sight, once again sad for the family. You looked towards your parents who were looking at each other in silent conversation. Perhaps you could nudge them in the right direction.Â
Taking a deep breath, you stepped towards your parents, suddenly aware of all eyes on you. âMother, father, may I speak?â you said with a hushed tone. Your father simply nodded.Â
âAlright IââÂ
âIf you must speak, you will speak in front of our people.â your mother said, staring into your eyes.Â
Your lips parted in shock. You? Speak in front of all your people? In defence of strangers?
âDarling, I donât believe thatâs necessary.â your father tried to cut in after seeing the colour drain from your face at the thought of publicly speaking. Ronal sighed and ignored her husband, placing a hand on your shoulder.Â
âNot for me,â she shook her head, âFor your people.âÂ
Your ears perked up when she said those words.Â
âThey are scared, ma y/n.â she breathed out, her voice trembled so little that nobody would ever notice. But you werenât nobody, you were her oldest child.
You could see in her eyes and hear in her voice that she was distressed at their sudden arrival. Her best friend in the Taâunui clan was murdered a long time ago trying to protect the tulkun from the Sky people before Payakanâs murders, and she had to pay the price for it with her tears.
Not them, but her.
"If you truly believe in that family, then you will show it to the people.â she said, eyes scanning the crowd to which you followed.Â
The children were hiding behind a few elders who were trying to calm them down. The thought of demon blood being in front of them of course terrified them, they did not know any better. Some of the metkayina had their teeth bared, fangs showing in clear aggression and disapproval, still gripping onto their spears.Â
The metkayina despised the Sky People ever since they set foot on Pandora, when they hunted the tulkun and left their bodies scattered at the bottom of the ocean. They ruined the spiritual bonds that intertwined the lives of your people and the tulkun, and they did it without remorse.Â
You looked at a group of younger metkayina who looked terrified, ears pointing down and scared, and you recognized the face of a crouched down elder who had his spirit brother murdered by the sky people long ago, struggling to hold in his tears as he whispered âMawey, mawey, my child.â as he hugged a little girl who buried her face into his shoulder. His grandchild.Â
âShow them.â your mother repeated, squeezing your shoulder in reassurance. You took a deep breath, and whispered, âMay the Great Mother give me strength.â before slowly stepping towards Jake Sully and his family.Â
âJake Sully. Neytiri.â you said, bowing your head and signing I see you, to which they returned with slight confusion. You turned around, facing your people.Â
âMy people, you have all heard of the things that Jake Sully had done during the fight with the omaticaya and the sky people. You all heard how their hometree had fallen and they had fled to the Tree of Souls.â you began, not noticing the slightly pained expression of Neytiri as you mentioned the hometree.
âYou also remember how these brave warriors,â you gestured towards the omaticayan adults behind you, âhad saved the forest from being destroyed by the sky people.âÂ
âJake Sully may have been of the sky people but he had seen the beauty that the Great Mother blessed Pandora with and he fell in love with it. As we all would if we were in his place.â You paused, taking a breath.Â
âHeâs not the same as those who have hurt the tulkun, Iâm sure of that. He is not different from you and I. So do not be scared. And do not be angered.â you continued, and took a deep breath after. The crowd murmured, and the children stopped crying to listen to your words.Â
âThis family has been nothing but respectful towards all of us since they have set foot in Awaâatlu, so I expect you all to return this favour. Else your stares of disapproval will burn into their memory.â you said, and noticing the group of hunters loosening their holds on their spears.
âMy people, we know better than to judge others based on their physical differences. So I implore you all to keep an open mind. They mean no harm to us. That is all I have to say.â you finished, bowing your head down to your parents before stepping beside Tsireya once more.Â
âThat was great, y/n!â she whispered excitedly, bending slightly to the right to look into your eyes, hers glimmering with adoration for her older sibling.Â
âYou really think so?â you grinned back, still a bit flustered from having to speak in front of everyone.Â
âI know so. Take a look.â she reassured you, subtly gesturing towards the metkayina that had been showing aggression towards the Sullys, now seeming to calm down, looking at the sand in slight embarrassment of their previous actions.
You looked at the children who seemed to be wiping their tears and now were asking their elders about the feats of Jake Sully, then to the once scared group of metkayina who also calmed down, and your heart swelled.Â
You looked to the Sully family, or more precisely, into the eyes of one. He smiled at you, to which you returned graciously. Now that you were able to look at him, he was quite cute.
He was not taller than your brother but his posture was perfect, making him stand tall and proud. Every strand of his hair was pulled into delicate braids, sort of different from the ones metkayina used in their hair, and some colourful beads decorated one of the braids near his ear. Your sister had not failed to notice your gawking.Â
She playfully hit your left arm, still looking forward and paying attention to her father speaking with a straight face as if her arm was acting on its own, but you know that deep down inside she was ready to unleash her relentless teasing about the boy later.Â
After your father had announced that the Sully family would be staying here, your sister excitedly went to show them to their new marui, hopping on the nets that connected them all. Since your skxawng of a brother had no intention of helping them, you had to drag him to follow the omaticayans, Rotxo coming along as well.Â
You looked at the older sister, who begrudgingly introduced herself as Kiri earlier, at the back of all her family members lagging behind. You turned, glaring at your brother. âKeep following. Do not try to escape this.â you warned him, to which he grumbled something you couldnât hear but still nodded.Â
You then sped up your hopping, and Kiri turned to look at you as you matched her pace. âHey.â you said.
â...hey.â she returned, avoiding your gaze.
âIâm sorry.â you said, putting your hands behind your back. She looked at you confused. âFor what?âÂ
âFor my mom earlier. What she said back there wasnât nice. At all. Iâm sorry you and your siblings had to go through that.â you responded, turning your gaze downwards in shame. âThanks. But itâs not like youâre in control of your momâŠâ she looked at me, her voice trailing off.Â
I realised I had never introduced myself to the family, being off helping some children when the initial introductions were being made. âY/n.â you smiled. âCool. â she gave a small smile back. As you tried to explain more about the metkayina and our culture to her, she couldnât help but focus on trying to keep her snickering to a minimum.Â
She had seen Neteyamâs ears flick in your direction as soon as you said your name, and she knew he was listening to your rambling intently.
He was doing that thing where he nodded subconsciously while learning information from someone. âKiri? Kiriiii?â you asked, waving your hand in her face. âOh sorry! I got lost in thought.â she apologised.Â
âNo problem. Do you want me to repeat that for you?â you smiled, completely unaware of the boy in front of you both who had now turned his full attention towards you, taking in your smile. âYeah, if you wouldnât mind.â she said, grinning.
Loâak laughed in front of you both, and you looked at him with confusion. He said something in a language you didnât understand, which earned a âHaha!â from Kiri and a push forward from Neteyam, muttering âSkxawng.â under his breath.
âMind telling me what that was about?â you turned to Kiri. She shrugged while hiding a chuckle behind her hand, âOh don't worry about it, just Loâak joking around, as usual.â

I was swimming with tsireya when we heard the horns blow, it was uncommon to have newcomers here on Awa'atlu, i looked at tsireya who was already looking at me, this was new, just then we saw a few creatures flying over us, first i mistook them for tsuraks but then i saw them closely, these were different, i had an inkling what they were but i needed to see it myself, getting on a ilu, Reya and I, glided over to the shore.
As we reached the shallow waters, i dipped in, Reya following me, standing up i brushed away the hair that stuck to my neck and chest while i looked at the more bluer Na'vi than us, my eyes trailed, what looked like, the family of six, more exactly on the couple who stood in the front, their eyes were such beautiful amber color, changing every now and then in the sunlight, their hair beautifully braided with beads and trinkets, their attire had vines and ropes creatively threaded together, as i was looking them over, i made eye contact with the gorgeous woman who stood with courage and strength oozing from her, i smiled and blood rushed to my cheeks as i looked down when she gave me a slight smile back, walking towards tsireya and standing by her side, in between tonowari and her, while slapping ao'nung's shoulder when he made fun of the newcomer boy.
The atmosphere in the air was thick with tension as Ronal criticized the family roughly, they were here for uthuru, which has not been asked since years before i was born, the group of kids looked tired from the trip and so did their mother, though she was trying not to show it, Ronal then pointed out their flaws, i cringed as she raised the boy's hand who ao'nung was making fun of earlier, their father stepped in " look, look" he held his hand up, "i was born as a sky people, but now I'm Na'vi ,you can adapt." He let out an exhale "we will adapt, okay?" His statement clearly made a point, but then his wife said " my husband was toruk makto! He led our clans to victory against the sky people '' though her words were said with defense, toruk makto looked at her in retaliation, ronal's voice spiked up after that " you call this victory? Hiding among strangers? It seems eywa has turned her back on you, chosen one" i reeled back when the other woman hissed at Ronal and the tsahik did hold back either. I shared a look with tonowari, we both knew this was going too far, so he stepped in, holding a conversation with the man, i didn't hear the rest as my eyes focused on the little girl who stood with her family, while everyone was busy raising their voices, i waved at her smiling and and she waved back, taking a step away i knelt down to her height, she came forward her smile as bright as the daylight " hii, I'm y/n, what is your name little one?" She giggled and said "I'm tuktirey but you can call me tuk" but before i could respond her mother called her back, her eyes lingered on me, i backed away as i did not want to cause a scene.
Soon tonowari and Ronal accepted them, while ao'nung and tsireya were given the task to train the omaticayan kids, i was introduced to them by Ronal , walking beside tsireya with a basket of fruits and fishes in my hand as we showed them the way towards their mauri, tuk was bouncing on the pathway smiling in her own little world, neytiri and Jake , which i found out to be their names, walked behind us, i stopped in front of the empty mauri that faced a beautiful section of the sea, letting the couple enter i heard Jake say "this is nice? Yeah?" Followed by a sickening thump when neytiri let the mats in her arms fall down, i quickly put down the basket, ushering tsireya out with me to give the family some alone time to adjust to the new surroundings.
»»ââââ-ăâŒăââââ-««
It's been a few days after the sully's arrived, tsireya and ao'nung were teaching their kids, i sat in the open common patch, where all the kids shuffled and talked, i taught the metkayina kids the sign language, so when they get into water one day for longer period, their communication can be better, but not only was i their teacher, i was the clan garment weaver as well, as the noise of the children got louder , i shushed them all, their doe eyes wide when they were caught, i was about to start talking when i saw movement behind the kids, Ronal, neytiri and tuk walked towards me, i got up warning the seated kids to behave i walked to them.
"Y/n, ma tsmuke, i need you to add another pupil to your class" ronal said putting a gentle hand on tuk's shoulder, the girl looked at me with the same sunshine smile, i smiled back holding out my hand for her , she happily took it, i nodded at Ronal, giving me a small smile like she knew something i didn't, she left, i shook that out of my head and looked at neytiri " don't worry, tuk will be safe here, I'm happy you decided to put her in my care" she nodded giving me a curt thank you and told me Jake would came take tuk after the class before leaving, i picked up tuk in my arms and took her to introduce her to the class.
After hours of laughter and teaching them some signs they could fit and remember in their little brains, i waited for each and every parent to come pick their kid up, everyone left except tuk, who was now dozing off in my arms, Jake still hasn't come yet, it was getting dark now so i decided why now drop tuk off myself? Making my way to their pod, i knocked on the entrance circle, neytiri's head whipped towards me, i waved at her, motioning to a fast asleep tuk in my arms, lo'ak and kiri were in a corner discussing something but stopped when they saw me, neytiri stood up , standing infront of me she asked in a soft voice "didn't Jake come to take her?" I adjusted my hold on tuk as i said "no, he didn't, maybe he must have been stuck somewhere and couldn't come, but it's okay, it was no problem for me to bring her" and for the first time from the moment she has been here, i saw her smile, a real smile , with her head tilting to the side slightly, and in that second, she looked gorgeous but i stopped myself, what was i thinking ?she has a mate, mentally slapping myself i moved to hand tuk to her but this girl was not ready to leave my neck, i awkwardly looked at the woman in front of me but she took a step back motioning me to step in, not wasting any time i walked in, trying hard to gently lower tuk onto the hammock and not to wake her up, straightening up i turned to look at neytiri who sat near the fire again, i was about to bid my goodbyes but she started before me " we'll be happy if you could stay with us for dinner, that is if you want to and thank you for bringing tuk back" i was seconds away from refusing but then thought about the lone dinner with no one to talk to back at my own mauri, atleast I'll not be so lonely tonight and agreed.
Jake was surprised to see me when he got back but before he could say anything, Neytiri talked his ears off about not going to pick up tuk and that I had to carry her all the way. I did not get in between , I valued my life more. Neteyam sat by my side, giving me a sheepish smile at their bickering parents, neytiri huffed at him, throwing her hands up at her mate's excuses, she made her way over to my side sitting down and serving me the food, Jake sat in front of me giving me an apologetic smile, i just chuckled under my breath at his tries to please neytiri.
The dinner with them was one of the best I had in years. Tuk woke up in the middle of it and no one was happier to see me in this world than she was. Immediately she sat with me, giving my introduction to everyone. Especially to her sister kiri, who was talking to me earlier about how to weave seashell necklaces, as she was having some trouble with hers and i was more than happy to help her, neteyam and lo'ak were busy bombarding me with questions about the sign language, though i tried to answer them all but they had way more to learn. when the dinner was nearing the end and my time to go home came closer, something in my heart panged, it looked like Jake and neytiri felt the same but i could be wrong and it's just my thoughts, i hugged each of them, giving tuk the extra longest as i departed, both the adults lips were pressed in a thin line, even if no words were said, feelings were changed that night.
I laid in my hammock, staring at the ceiling of my pod, the time of dinner played again and again in my mind, did neytiri really brush her hand against my cheek during the dinner or was it nothing? Was Jake really staring at me all that time or was it just me? My mind was in chaos, I was falling for a mated pair , what is wrong with me? I groaned, turning on my stomach and buried my head into the pillow, i hated this feeling but then again loved it more than life itself.
»»ââââ-ăâŒăââââ-««
It's been weeks after the dinner and now it's a regular occurrence, I'd drop tuk at their pod and stay for dinner like it was all normal while i died a little every time i saw them, the longing increasing more and more, right now i sat with neytiri as i taught her how to weave a seashell and pearl top, just when horns blared across Awa'atlu signaling the return of the tulkuns, the return of my spirit brother, i dropped all my work and grabbed neytiri's wrist tugging her along, i said in a hurried tone " come on, my spirit brother is here, i need you to meet him!" We met Jake on the way along, they dived in behind me, i connected my queue with an ilu bringing Jake behind me as neytiri bonded with another, my eyes roamed to see a familiar tattooed tulkun, meeting his eye i had to suppress a giddy giggle that was about to escape me, hugging his side i said " it's so nice to see you again brother, i have so much to tell you, and about someone i met, well two people to be exact but you get my point!?" I signed as fast as i could, his chuckle reverberated in the water, neytiri and Jake watched in fascination, i motioned them to come closer and they did, taking support of his fin, i introduced them to my spirit brother, while he side eyed me, giving a all knowing look, i just rolled my eyes at him.
Jake and neytiri were thrilled to Meet y/t/n, plus the Olo'eyktan announced a celebration in return of the tulkuns, i dressed in the best pieces i made, and helped Ronal, neytiri, kiri , tuk and tsireya get ready as well, tsireya being my baby i gave her the top i was working on, and it looked gorgeous on her, at least now the forest boy's attention would be all on her, but it's not that his attention wavers from her anyway. I smiled walking out of my pod, after getting everyone ready, I was now late for the celebration myself and no one even waited for meâŠ..as usual, i sighed.
The celebration was at its peak, drinks were being passed, couples danced together near the fire it, i went near the drink stand, the liquor glinted in the fire light, i sat on a log that was tucked into a corner, enjoying the songs bobbing my head to the tune, but soon enough my eyes trained onto the couple who stood up from the crowd automatically, their azure skin reflecting the soft shades of oranges so beautifully, their bright honey eyes looked ablaze in the moment, neytiri's top, that i gave her, accentuated her looks even more, their smiles making my heart flutter, just then Jake caught me staring, giving him a hurried smile i looked down at my drink swirling it in the shell glass, this was now getting worse, if this didn't stop soon i knew I'd get hurt, i get up to go for a walk as my mind would not stop reeling back to them. as i was about to walk out a hand rested on my shoulder , i jumped turning back only to be met with a face i was yearning to see but was too afraid to, Jake smiled, it was like a warm trickle of light on my skin, and neytiri stood beside him, she came forward taking my hand in hers, at this point my heart was racing faster than a tsurak on hunt, Jake leaned forward grabbing my other hand and i looked at them wide eyes, mouth agape, is this really happening? Are they BOTH choosing me? But before getting the answers to my questions, lo'ak popped up and we all jumped apart, the boy stopped in his track, looking at his parents then as me, as both jake and neytiri held my hands, i immediately wringed my hands out of theirs, looking at lo'ak as heat rushed to my face , lo'ak raised an eyebrow at me and i chuckled nervously asking " what do you want lo'ak? Is there any problem?" He still looked skeptically between the three of us as he replied " yeah, i was looking for you , y/n, i wanted to ask how you made that armband for neteyam, i want one like that too" I sighed in relief ushering him to come with me, i looked behind that them, both of them having a sly smile that i knew the answers to all my questions were giving without uttering a word. The whole night after that was too hot even when the breeze was chilly.
»»ââââ-ăâŒăââââ-««
I sat with all the sully's laughing at something Jake said, neytiri lightly hit Jake on his arm, tuk snuggled in my arms and lo'ak leaning on me, as i patted his head, neteyam sat with neytiri, and kiri's head rested on Jake's lap as she was napping, i was being consumed by this family and i had no problem with it at all, Jake looked at me, his ears up, tail swaying side to side and i blushed under his gaze, neytiri wasn't any less, there was something going on between us, even the kids could sense it but we haven't given this "situation" a name , yet, we all knew what we wanted but still kept quiet for some reason, by now i practically live with them, I'm at their house almost all the time, even at night now i slept in their pod, it felt more normal than sleeping in my own mauri.
Brushing kiri's hair, I applied the oil to her scalp, massaging it gently, pressing on the point to make it enjoyable and she quite literally melted beneath my hands "do you like it?" She let out a loud sigh and said " like it? This is the best massage I've ever gotten, from now on will you, please, always do my hair?" I laughed at her request " but your mom does a better work than me" , "noooooo, she's good but you do it different, please please please, don't tell mom though" we both giggled at it but in the end i agreed, just then neteyam walked in, he looked at us, raising an eyebrow at kiri is said " i thought only mom could do your hair, huh?" Kiri just huffed and replied " ohh yeah, just try it and then you'll understand bro, her massages are like no other" her eyes closing, clearly enjoying the massage, so neteyam did exactly what she said, pushing her out of the way he sat in front me, kiri exclaimed loudly at being pushed as well as being interrupted in her massage " HEY! It was my turn, get up you skxwang" neteyam just smirked at his sister not budging when she tried to push him, in the end i had to break the fight, promising kiri I'll give her more massages later, while neteyam sat smugly, it was funny seeing the siblings bicker but it was homely like this, i unbraided his hair, brushing them back and carefully applying the oils, he let out a long sigh as he leaned back a little, i smiled he was liking it and that's a good sign "kiri was so true for this, you really do it different, ah" after the massage i rebraided his hair nicely, matching the metkayina style and adding the beads of his choice, all the while have good chats, the time well spent after he was done, he went to flaunt it to lo'ak on who did his hair today, shaking my head, i got up , arms aching but still content they were happy, i walked into the sully tent, meeting Jake i sat beside him, exhausted leaning on him, he grabbed my hand, caressing his thumb over my knuckles "long day?" I shook my head "no, it was a fun day!" I said, smiling at him.
»»ââââ-ăâŒăââââ-««
I sat roasting a fish on the fire, as Jake was cutting fruits and neytiri was taking out the plates to eat, the kids were out swimming and training with tsireya and ao'nung, i laughed as Jake tickled my side suddenly and neytiri grumbled "i dealt with this for 15 years, eywa know how" at that even jake bursted out laughing, but my laughter died down when i saw a very serious looking tonowari walking towards our mauri, Jake and tiri noticed as well, and what tonowari said next made goosebumps rise throughout my body.
The other clans were being tortured for information but due to one word from wari they haven't revealed Jake yet but everyone knew this won't last long, my appetite evaporating as i looked worried at neytiri, she just placed a hand on my shoulder, rubbing the spot for reassurance, i let out a breath , sending a prayer to eywa for our safety, we thanked tonowari, now thinking about what we're going to do next, but something in the back of my mind nagged at me that something's bad is going to happenâŠ.and i was not ready for it
»»ââââ-ăâŒăââââ-««
I rode on a ilu, beside Jake and neytiri who were seated on Jake's tsurak, my heart shattering in a million pieces as Ronal wailed for her now dead spirit sister, her roa, who just bared her first babe, who also now layed dead by his mother, tears streamed my face, sobs wracked my body as the memories of Ronal showing me to her sister for the first time, this should not have happened, those demons did this, rage kindled in my chest but my sorrow was too great, i swam besides Ronal, who hugged me instantly, ohh how excited she was to show her newborn to her sister, they were going to be mother's together, now she'll never get the chance too, i held her close to me, this was not how it was supposed to be.
The clan screamed and shouted for revenge on the sky demons, they were killing our tulkuns, this will not go without consequence, i stood beside neytiri, my heart thumped inside it's cage, i grabbed her arm in fear, the people raging towards Jake, blaming him for all this, my heart panged for Jake, he hopped onto the elevated rock and spoke "listen, you have to tell the tulkuns, to go away, far away as possible" but Ronal hissed at him lunging forward, i had to get in between to stop her, she hissed again before saying "you live with us and still haven't learnt anything!" I cringed back but held my ground, looking back at Jake he said the next best thing he could think of, grabbing the red tracker he raised it above his head, showing it to everyone "tell your tulkuns, if this was attacked on them, then swim away fast! Tell me and I'll come deactivate it" everyone looked unconvinced and i shouted at them to get them moving " go, move, tell every tulkun you come across, now!" They grabbed their weapons and dived into the waters, i knew a war was brewing deep in the sea, everything weighed on me, my knees gave out and Jake caught me, i held onto him for dear life, neytiri came closer hugging us both and i melted between them, and for the first time after whatever this is between us started neytiri kissed me, on the lips, i was surprised but kissed back in seconds, as we pulled back Jake groaned "heyy i wanted the first kiss with her!" Neytiri just smirked and said "looks like you lost, ma' Jake" with that she kissed me again but Jake got in between, this time he kissed me and i couldn't be more happier, we still stood in the communal tent, but none of us cared one bit, i leaned on both of them as their arms enveloped me, my mind going silent as no unwanted thoughts plagued my mind for now.
I packed my bags for later, they both asked me to come live with them and i couldn't be more happier, the smile that started from the kiss still lingered on my face, i was shaken out of my thoughts when tsireya burst into my mauri, tears ran down her cheeks and she barely stuttered the words out " it's lo'ak, he's going to tell payakan, come we have to go with him" dropping everything i sprinted with her towards the shore, we swam towards the three brothers rock, where neteyam, lo'ak , tuk, ao'nung and rotxo were pulling out the tracker from payakan, my eyes widened at the scene, "ohh no, no no no" they were targeting payakan, i looked around to see any sign of the sky demons, relieved when none in the sight i got onto payakan's fin, and helped tug the tracker out, and as if lo'ak saw me for the first time he shouted even if he was seated beside me "mama, what are you doing here?!" And my work stopped as I looked at him, wide eyed, did he just call me mama? If i wasn't fighting to save this tulkuns life I'd probably hug him and cry but right now all i did was "yes, listen to me lo'ak, call your parents right now, we do not have much time, the hunters will be here any minute" he nodded not even registering the fact that he called mama, i got back in pulling the tracker, finally after so many tries that piece of metal was pulled out, just when the demon ship rounded the corner.
I took the tracker from neteyam, yelling at them to scatter as i got onto my ilu, swimming away, i look back and some kind of ships following , i threw the tracker away rounding about when one of the ships caught my ilu's fin and i was thrown over, i wanted to scream but stopped, trying to swim away but the other ship was catching up to me, just as i thought i was caught my wrist was pulled, taking my whole body with it, lo'ak smile down at me as tsireya pulled me closer onto the ilu, the ships still chased us, weaving into the long seaweeds, the machines got stuck, leaving our ilu we swam towards plant that created an air pocket inside it, when i broke to water surface, i was surprised to see tuk there, gasping for air i held tuk against me, we calmed down, catching up on air, we had to get out of here soon, so taking in a deep breath we got out, swimming towards the seaweed but our path was blocked as some of the weird shaped machine shot out a net trap, that captured me, tsireya and tuk, lo'ak got out somehow but held on to the net as we were pulled out of the water, tuk latched onto me crying in my neck, my brain was distrort on what was happening but i held on.
The net was thrown onto the ship, our bodies hitting the hard metal with a thud, i groaned , the net was opened and someone ripped tuk out of my arms as i screamed and thrashed to get her back, fear gripping my heart, another one of the soldier wrapped his hand around the nape of my neck, pressing my cheek on the cold metal, my wrists were cuffed behind my back, right after i was dragged to the railing and strapped to it, even after tugging it hard it wouldn't budge, lo'ak was on my left, tsireya beside him while tuk was on my right, fat tears rolled down her face, i tried to comfort her but couldn't do much. To my surprise one of the men grabbed my face making me look at him, he leaned down and tuk screamed " MAMA!! Leave her alone, please" the demon Na'vi who held my face, tilted his head and said in a low voice " looks like sully got himself another blue bitch" he chuckled and so did the others, lo'ak bared his teeth at him, tsireya and tuk crying out when a brut pulled at their queues. The demon who held my face shoved me and lo'ak hissed at him, but the man ripped the transmitter from lo'ak's neck, speaking into it " Jake, tell your friends to stand down. If you want your kids and wife back, you come out alone. You know better than to test my resolve" he points a gun at my head " I took you under my wing, Jake. You betrayed me. You killed your own. Good men, good women. I will not hesitate to execute your bitch" my breath wavered, eyes jumping from him to lo'ak, fear evident in his eyes, i couldn't catch what Jake said but i prayed he would take a good decision rather than a hasty one.
I looked at the horizon, plenty of Na'vi floated on the water and saw Jake coming closer, my heart dropped, he was giving himself up, i tried to pull away but the demon hold my queue yanked me back and a scream erupted from my throat at the pain, i inhaled deeply praying to eywa for his safety, absorbed in my thoughts i didn't see payakan coming up, the splash of cold water brought me out of my prayers, payakan fell on the ships deck, slapping of several sky demons with is fin while crushing many of them beneath him, lo'ak whooped for him, celebrating in the moment, payakan slid down from the edge falling back into the water, but before i could say anything the ship started to move forward picking up speed, it didn't stop even when we approached a rock Island, the collision shook the whole ship as we were lifted up into the air, slamming down my head hit the railing, hard, my vision blurred for a moment and pain bloomed at the back of my head but i didn't say anything, looking around frantically, i saw tuk pressed against the cold deck, tsireya holding onto the bars for dear life and lo'ak trying to get a grip on the rod, sitting up straight, i saw neteyam bolting up onto the ship, running towards us he cuts up tuk's binds, then tsireya's and mine, lastly lo'ak's, i pull tuk to my chest, standing up, i lost my balance but straighten up quickly, pulling tuk and tsireya with me, i look back at neteyam and lo'ak who didn't follow me " c'mon we have to get out of here" lo'ak hesitated but said " we have to save spider, we can't leave him here" neteyam looked conflicted, sighing, i had to get tuk to safety and as far away as possible, so i spoke " be careful please, if you do not find him, turn around, okay? I do not want you two to get hurt, am I clear?" They both nodded quickly running to the hallway.
I swam with tuk and tsireya when the latter stopped me, her voice barely above a whisper "y/n, you are bleeding" i shushed her, nodding, it wasn't much, i just had to get through this, it can be taken care of later, we met kiri inbetween, i heaved a sigh of relief hugging her, but there was no time , just as we started to swim in the other direction, a roar boomed above us, two big talons grabbed kiri, pulling her up as she screamed for the rider to let go but to no avail, they took her to the ship, tuk pulled my hand, i looked at her, she signed towards the ships pulling me "baby we can't go there" , my mind frantic, i had to save kiri life but i can't risk tuk's as well, she shook her head " sully's stick together" so we swam to the ship.
we popped above the water and hauled ourselves up, crawling around until we saw kiri bound to the railing of a pool, we ran towards her, trying our best to free her but we were too late as the demon walked towards us, he pushed tsireya into the pool, i screamed but as quickly as i blinked he shoved me down and his men bound me and tuk besides kiri, tuk wailed " i can't believe I'm tied up again!" He looked at his soldiers, huffing he said "we can still get this done" and one of them replied with a "hell yeah" and We waited for a long time with bated breath, before the man who held a gun at me earlier spoke " Did you hear me corporal , same deal as before, you for them" he was talking to Jake, i knew it, he walked around us "I need the answers Jake or there's gonna be consequences" i couldn't hear anything what Jake replied with , i sighed inwardly, exhaustion was creeping in but i fought it, the blue demon walked towards his attendees "Let's get this guy, that's what we came here for" clicking his gun ready.
he walked towards us, pointing the gun out, he looked through the lens for a couple of seconds before he said " hold fire" they all looked around here and there searching for Jake, by the look on the sky demons face i knew he lost sight of him too, he swirled around and spoke into the mic after a while "Talk to me corporal, the ship's going down and your girls with it, only one way to keep 'em safe" a few minutes of silence before a blast was heard, the ship groaned at the explosion, tillting down, people were screaming and running everywhere, minute by minute people were being killed, then like a ray of hope i heard Jake's voice, but the demon crouched in front of us to trap Jake, i screamed at the man in front of me " THEY'RE COMING FOR YOU!" and tuk hissed at him.
I heard neytiri's screams from a distance, my head turned in that direction, heart dropping to the floor but before i could react, a hand clamped on my mouth as he undid my cuff from the railing, pulling me back against the metal wall so we couldn't be seen, i tried to scream but they were muffled by the hand on my mouth, he leaned down to my ear and whispered " one more sound out of you mouth and your pretty little lover won't be alive" i stopped thrashing against him as he held a knife to my throat, i saw Jake rescuing tuk and kiri, he pushed me forward , walking into Jake's eyesight, knife still held against my neck, Jake and tuk walked forward but he stopped tuk as she cried "mamaa" Jake put out his arm, he looked between me and the man who held me " kill him Jake" the demon pressed the knife even harder drawing in blood as i recoiled, " c'mon sully, weapons down" quatrich threw a orange band at him " cuff yourself, Do IT!"
Jake grunted, he threw his axe and gun away , bending down to pick up the band, " you son of bitch" Jake bit back, "not one step corporal" my blood coated the knife now, burning the place where it rested against my neck, tuk and kiri were behind Jake, and i didn't not see neytiri come up behind us and so didn't quaritch, she pounced out gripping a boy holding a knife against his throat, "you think i care about that boy? We're not even the same species" quaritch said, she tilted her head, lips pressed into a thin like as she spoke " a son for a son" dragged the blade up, plummeting it down towards the boy's chest with a yell, quaritch screamed "No, NOo" taking the knife from my neck and holding it up, i yelled at the sensation, letting me go Jake pulled me behind him, neytiri let go of the boy and hissed viciously, she towards us and tuk pulled her back gently, we all backed away slowly.
the ship still sank down second by second, quaritch stayed back but called out to Jake " I'm coming back for you, when i do, I'll kill you and your whole family" baring his teeth, Jake stopped in his track looking at back at quaritch "let's get this over with" and he pounced on to quaritch, i propelled forward to stop him but neytiri pulled me back, shaking her head, we dived into the water, swimming away but there was an oil spill and it caught on fire due to the blast, making us stop in our way out, the human boy from earlier, spider, yelled to turn around towards the ship, neytiri grabbed my arm as we swam back, getting onto the ship, i pushed kiri forward to go ahead of me, neytiri was with tuk, i turned back to her, i went to grab tuk but her foot slipped and she fell into the doorway, my heart lurked and i went in after her, neytiri right behind me.
I fell onto my side the water cushioning my fall a little but i didn't care, i grabbed tuk and neytiri was there beside me, i ushered tuk to go forward , we ran to the door in front, neytiri tried to open it, water was trickled our calfs, finally after a hard pull she opened it, the water pumping us forward, our yells and shouts muffled by the water, we got into a room with lots of tables, the ship was turning so we had to climb up them, i pulled tuk up by her hand, pushing her up to neytiri, we got to a closed door again, water up to our waist now, neytiri struggled to open it, i stood beside her and pulled the door with her, with all my might, finally the door gave away, quickly letting tuk in, me and neytiri swam in after her and the door slammed shut with the pressure.
i looked ahead but there was no other way, water was filling up, neytiri pulled me and tuk closer to her and we stood there, the wound was throbbing and being tossed around while coming here was taking a toll on me now, my head felt light, vision blurred, my hand latching onto neytiri's, she looked at me worried but i couldn't even explain what was happening, tuk answered for me " she hit her head on the bars, when we were on the ship, there was blood coming out too" now neytiri was worried sick, i shook my head trying to change the subject " it's okay, I'm fine, it was nothing" but she looked skeptical, there was nothing she could do either, there was no way out , i leaned on her " stay close to me please" time passed agonizingly slow, the pain in the back of my head now slowly spreading down my back and arms, water levels were rising fast, the ship sinking down faster, we were trapped and there was no way of getting out.
i looked at neytiri, all hopes of my survival leaving and i said those words before it's too late "ne- neytiri, this is not how i wanted to say it but ole ngati kameie, i see you and Jake, I've never known love before you two came in my life, you were the ember in my darkness, the light that led me to meet you, if this is the time we get in this lifetime, then all my hardships were worth it, you both were my light in the darkness that lead me to love you, if this is the only time I'll get to spend with you, than, would not hesitate to do it all over again " i smiled at her, tears spilled down her face , she placed a hand on my cheek wiping my own tears with her thumb, tuk wrapped her arms around my torso " you're going to be okay mama, i want you with me" new tears formed in my eyes, i leaned down kissing her forehead, neytiri spoke after a while " you're going to be fine yawne, we'll get out of this and you will live with us, do not lose hope now when we are so close, ole ngati kameie ma' y/n but please do not leave me, not now" she pressed her forehead against mine, i savored this moment, feeling every bit of it, exhaustion made its way but i fought back.
the water was now till our necks, i tried my best to keep tuk afloat as well, it was getting harder to breath, the lights went out a while ago, it was pitch black, so when a golden light flooded the place we all turned to the source of it, golden fishes swam in the water we stood in and then popped in kiri's head, i laughed in relief pulling her in for a hug, oh I've never been happier, we are going to be saved at last, she pulled back, taking the air giving creature off her back and put it on my back, connecting my queue to it, and surely air rushed to my lungs, i nodded, they all took a deep breath and Kiri lead us out, neytiri held my hand all the time while the other was in tuk's, after weaving through doors and passages we finally got out, seeing the surface both neytiri and kiri pulled me up and we all broke the surface and i gasped for air, i looked around and saw payakan, with Jake and lo'ak on his fin, we all swam to them, more like neytiri dragged me to them " ma' Jake - ma' Jake!" We both said in sync and he pulled us for a hug, i was hauled onto payakan's fin, and finally i let myself go, as i lost my fight against exhaustion, my head falling onto Jake's shoulder, eyes rolling to the back of my head, i pass of completely.
»»ââââ-ăâŒăââââ-««
I open my eyes but the blinding bright sunlight stopped me, squinting, i looked around me, neytiri sat beside me and i looked up at her, memories of war flashed through my mind, me, neytiri and tuk being stuck, kiri coming to save us, me passing out on payakan and i bolted upwards, sitting up but the pain in my back took over and i cried out, neytiri immediately held me close, i didn't even notice Jake until was was beside me as well, checking on my bandages, my breathe uneven and labored, everything felt like it was on fire, every nerve in my body ablaze, i sighed in her neck, getting a grip on myself i leaned back, meeting their faces that held the brightest smile I've ever seen, i laughed lightly, then they started laughing and in the end we all laughed together, at what? I don't know, but I'm glad the great mother deemed me worthy to hear it again.
The celebration was full blown at its highest note, people danced in the joy of our victory, elders sang the most treasured songs in the name of another achievement, my heart swelled as i saw tsireya and lo'ak dancing together, i sat with Jake and neytiri, in between them while they both crush me beneath their body weight, as the party progressed, Jake took us both out for a walk, it's been a week since the war, we mourned the fallen now we must move past it, celebrate a new phase, i walked on the crunchy sand, the moonlight illuminating the bioluminescent dots on our bodies, Jake's tail wrapped around my thigh, while neytiri held my hand in her's, fingers intertwined, we got to a grassy part of Awa'atlu, where the sea was still visible, it was where the forest met the sea, the plants and surroundings glowing, it looked magnificent, we sat down on the soft grass, the silence comfortable as we laid there, under the blanket of stars, but it was disturbed when Jake and neytiri sat up, i looked at them confused, they helped me sit up and Jake cleared his throat and i stared at him " umm i know, this is long over due now, hmm i- will you-" but neytiri completed the sentence for him "will you do the honour and make us happy by agreeing to be our mate, tiyawn?" Jake nodded hurriedly, blood rushed to my face as it heated, not much as it was already hot whenever I was with them, i nodded smiling " yes, i loved to be" right after i said it, they attacked me with a hug as we fell down again on the grass, both of them peppering my face and neck with kisses as i giggled between them, soon Jake brought his queue in front of him, and so did neytiri joining hers, my mind literally dancing i brought mine coiling around both of theirs, the tides of emotions washed over me, as i looked at them mesmerized, their love for me wafting over to my side, seconds later i was huddled in their arms, warm and protected, this is all i ever wanted and that's all i got, i didn't know how much time went by at the celebration but as i saw the first rays of sunlight illuminating the dark sky, i knew this was eywa's way of telling me that this was it, this was my share of the love and i couldn't be more happy about it.

Jealous much?⊠(Part.1)
Neteyam x Female Omaticayan Reader (you)Â
Both Neteyam and The reader are 18-19 yrs old!!
Warnings: Nothing to bad (like killing ect.),Jealousy
Not proof read! (Word count:?)
Format: Neteyam and you both grew up together in the Omaticaya. You both came very close at a young age. You mainly thought to yourself that neteyam was technically like your brother, and the same with his siblings. It has been a few years and both neteyam and you have grown close feelings for each other. Your parents couldnât look after you due to the wars back home. They organised to move you to the Metkayina with Jake sully and his family, where a little someone gets a little somethingâŠ
_____
âAre you all packed, Y/N?â You look around your room, feeling empty. Your mother stands by the doorway waiting for you. âY/N?â Your mother walks closer to you, placing a soft, gentle hand on your shoulder. Your eyes fill with heavy tears. You turn your head to face your mum. âI dont want to go! Why cant you come?! Or why cant i stay?!â You become frustrated as the tears fall down your pale blue skin. âIâŠI'm sorry Hun, you have to go..and me and your father have to stay, we dont want you fighting here. It's too risky.â Your mothers words feel as if an arrow got shot through your heart.Â
You grab your bags and walk out to find Jake. You place your baggings down and gaze over to your old, favourite spot. It was a pond. But not any kind of pond. It was a pond where you believed was a âluck pondâ. It had a pale, aqua shimmer when the bright sun gazed on it. It felt as if luck was in that specific pond. You heard Jake coming near, so you picked up your bags and brought it over to him. âHere you go, Mr sully..â you hand jake your bags and wait to take off. You look over your shoulder, as your home left further in the abyss.
_______
you all land on a small island. The water around the island was like the water at the luck pond back home. Every one circled around you all. You glance around and see a young male Metkayina around your age. He looked both you and neteyam up and down as he joined the crowd. He smiles and winks at you, as you giggle softly at his manner. Neteyam notices and gets a little pissed at first but brushes it off as the chief of the Metkayina arrives to see your presents. â Why have you come to us?â Tonowarri walked closer into the crowd to meet Jake sully's face. Jake explains that he wanted to keep both his family and you safe, and needed somewhere safer to live. âMy daughter tsireya and son Aoânung, will help you kids show our ways.â
Neytiri looked at Jake with a worried look. âWhat's wrong?â He asked, placing his large hand on her shoulder. She turned around to face her mate. "This..this all feel different!" Her eyes slowly tear up as Jake lightly places his big hand, on her face cupping it. "It's so we can keep our family safe Ma'neytiri!" Neytiri looks up at his golden dark eyes and looked over his shoulder. She notions you and neteyam splashing around together in the shallow depths of the water. She sighs and continues to unpack the bags of stuff.
_______
The sun set below the horizon. The clear blue water glistens as you walk slowly to the water. The cold water brushes over you toes as you look at the sun set. You slowly walk into the water and you duck you head under. You push your hair pack out of your eyes as you hear someone or something walk closer to you in the water.
You pull out hunting knife and turned around with a panic. "Fuck..you scared me.." you sigh as you put your knife away. "I'm sorry..oh uh I'm Ao'nung by the way!" The unfamiliar voice approaches you as you look at the figure. "Y/N.. I'm Y/N" You say looking at the tall figure which stood in front of you. You smile as you both have small conversations.
"that bitch.." neteyam hisses at himself as he pears though the trees. "She's mine.." he walks out from behind the trees to meet the two of you walking back. "Oh! Hi teyam!" You smile up at him as he glares at Ao'nung with a deathly like look. "Nete? Teyam!? NETEYAM!?" You wave your hand Infront of his face as he quickly looks down to you. "Oh yeah s.. sorry!" He says grabbing your wrist firmly, pulling you away from Ao'nung.
______
"Excuse you!? What was that!" You tell up at him. Neteyam glares back down to you. "Oh uh dinner was just ready and I was just collecting you from that...boy.." He lightly let go of your wrist and starts to rub it. You look at his hands work around your wrist massaging it softly. "Sorry if I held your wrist to tight.." He apologies as you smile at him. "Nah it's all good!"
You both walk into your hut as you look around to find neytiri. You find her sitting down eating some food with the rest of her family. "I'm so sorry We're late Mr and Mrs sully!" You say sitting down at the table. "Oh ma'y/n it's fine!" Neytiri says holding your shoulder and signaling you to eat up. You smile as you eat you dinner. Neteyam plops next to you as the holds your thigh. You look at him, but he was to bussy eating. "So how was our day today kids?" Jake asks looking at Neteyam. Neteyam looks up with food shoved in his mouth. Jake gives him a glare as Neteyam quickly swallows it. "Uh..sorry. yeah it was pretty good. Went fishing with Rotxo and Ao'nung" he says as he looks at his father. You smile and finish your dinner, excusing yourself.
______
"Neteyam can we talk? Quickly" you grab neteyams shoulder. He look at you and smiles. "yuh, sure!" You both slowly walk outside your hut as you smile turned into a frown. "What was that!?" Neteyam looks at you with confusion. "H..huh?" You look at him with a deathly like glare. "Don't play dumb! When I was talking to Ao'nung! What was that!!" Neteyam frowns and look at you dead in the eyes. "He was making you uncomfortable" you look at him confused. "What the fuck? What made you think that!?" He looks away, and slowly walks off. "Your jealous aren't you?" Neteyam pauses. Slowly turning to face you. "What?" You clear your throat. "You are jealous aren't you!" You say a little louder. He turns his whole body to face yours. You stood there quietly as he slowly approaches you.
You slowly look up at him. "Jealous much? Hmm?" You smirk at him waiting for his response.

Hi! Are your requests open? If they are I'm just gonna leave this here, Neteyam, Ao'nung, Lo'ak (sperate) x OmaticayaGnReader who is sick, like flu for the na'vi or something like that, they have a fever and the chills and everything could it also be fluffy and absolutely adorable
--- personal doctors âïŸ.*ïœ„ïœĄïŸ
neteyam, ao'nung, rotxo (seperated) x gn!metkayina!reader
you catch a cold, its time for your lover to take care of you
a/n ; im not good at writing loâak, so i bring you rotxo instead! i hope you dont mind<3
: ÌÌâ neteyam
realizes your sickness even before you did
when you first sneeze or cough, his mind goes straight to the day before, recalling any peculiar food you've had
neteyam would notices too, when you pause between chores to massage your forehead
he will take over cleaning. making sure every corner is clean so you won't sneeze from the dust. he also makes sure you stay hydrated and even whips you up nutritious meals until your condition got better. usually, the fever never got up to you
but when it does, he goes in full momma mode
this man grows with 3 younger siblings, caring for someone is natural for him. he would stay by your side, whispering your name every few hours to wake you up, so he could feed and help you drink
neteyam might not be the best healer, like her sister, but he can make certain herb drinks
makes you ginger tea regularly to warm up your shivering body
you tend to get all sort of nightmares from your sickness, but dont worry, youâre waking up to neteyam since heâs cuddling you all night long. he will run his slender fingers through your hair, whispering comforting words to your ear
âeverythingâs okay, dear. iâm hereâÂ
we all need neteyam in our lives:(
_
: ÌÌâ ao'ung
acts like he doesnât care, but the moment your temperature starts to rise, he brings his mother straight to you
the tsahik would probably do nothing. she tell him to go ask kiri for some herb tea, and to make sure you drink and eat well, since fevers could heal by itself
but mans stressed
would refuse to let you lift a single muscle. he will be the one helping you change, wipe your face to keep you fresh, feeding you
since heâs not the best cook, he would ask tsireya to make you soups, wich she happily does. she makes great food, but your tongue tastes sour and your appetite is no where to be found
so ao'nung scolds you
âquit acting like a baby and please, just eatâÂ
you know aoânung. none of his scolding are anger, heâs just extremely worried.
watching you go to sleep after being scolded makes him feel like a villain. he would join you in bed and whispers an apology. gently bringing you closer to his chest as the both of you fall asleep
remember he's a worrier? it makes him act too much like a mom. he will insist on taking care of you, even when you're feeling better. will only stop until he's sure you're 100% healthy
ao'nung is a big softie
_
: ÌÌâ rotxoÂ
most clueless compared to the other 2
pls dont be mad, its not his fault
something tells me heâs an only child, a one that rarely got sick too, so he doesnât know anything about caring for ill people
rotxo might be confused, but heâs not an idiot
the moment he touches your forehead and realizes you're scorching hot, rotxo instinctively wraps a fluffy blanket around you. the man will make you drink a lot of water, and went off running to the sullys
âwhat the fuck?âÂ
âsorry lo'ak! its an emergency!â
he got home with omaticayan food wraps in hand. youâre too sick to say anything, so when he lifts your head to feed you, you donât protest
the one thing that scares you the most is that his jokes completely disappears
all his stupid jokes, gone.
not in a bad way, this man is just so dedicated on you that he stops joking around. he cannot stand that you're feeling all sick and uncomfortable and wants you back to your healthy self
this man is so serious, even when he tried feeding you raw cloves of garlic
one time, he heard kiri saying that garlics are âgood for boosting the immune systemâÂ
heâs not wrongđđđ
but kiri hits him on the head once she founds out
instead of feeding you raw garlic, she gives you a mix of aged garlic and honey as medicine such an asian mom move
he feels bad afterwards, would kiss your entire face despite your protest
the next day, you wake up feeling fresh. but your lover boys voice got so hoarse from sore throat and complains about his sore limbs
yes, he got your fever and yes, he never regret kissing you, even when you're sick

warnings: playful banter, mentions of blood, first half is a script reciting just with a 2nd person insert (you/your pronouns)
you didn't interject when jake came and told you, kiri, neteyam, and lo'ak you were moving. most of the clan didn't know you enough, anyways, since they had no idea where you came from. so when he told you to get your ikran out of nowhere, you weren't complaining.
as you flew in for landing, jake and neytiri began to yip to get the meticayans attention. the reef people lived in what looked like netted structures, along beaches with baskets and small decretory things everywhere. tree branches hung over each home, tents draped over the netting as you flew closer before landing on the sand. you didn't move for a moment as everyone got off their ikrans and walked towards the meticayan.
"on me." jake said under his breath, walking quicker to keep up with tuk, who was eagerly running up to them.
"tuk," neytiri called, pulling her hand.
the meticayan quickly surrounded you, looking at the strange blue family that stood before them. you looked around at the clan. they had larger tails than us, wider arms built like fins, probably to assist with swimming in the water. you noticed them begin to move out the way as two boys came up.
one of the boys had short curly hair, looking at the new visitors with a greeting smile, which you quickly learned was mockery as the other boy, with braids pulled into a bun, spoke.
"is that supposed to be a tail?" he said, whispering to the other boy.
another girl came through, people moving out of the way for her as well. "enough, roxto. ao'nung." the girl said, glaring at the both of them as she said their names. lo'ak, who had been staring at the girl the whole time, finally spoke.
"hi." he said, shyly. she giggled and looked away, and neteyam looked at you with a knowing glance. you looked away to keep yourself from laughing.
"i see you, tonowari." jake spoke, looking at him. tonowari's mate paced back and forth in front of the visitors, glaring at every single one of us. "i see you, ronal." he said, looking at her as she stiffened. neytiri followed. "i see you, ronal."
you had eventually stopped listening to their conversation, as you looked back to the three kids who had gotten your attention. ao'nung was looking at you, before he smirked and turned to roxto once more. "look at their arms, they're so thin." roxto laughed with him, earning a smack to the head by the girl.
"tsireya, we're just having fun." ao'nung said.
"it's rude. they need uturu, why are you mocking them?"
suddenly, all conversation was silenced as ronal walked up to you. she pulled at neteyams arm. "their arms are thin." she begun to flick at neytiri's tail, earning a hiss from her. "their tails are weak. you will be slow in the water."
she turned to kiri, walking up to her and pulling her hand to her. "they are not even true na'vi."
"yes we are," kiri interjected.
ronal looked at lo'ak and you, grabbing both your hands and holding them up like a trophy. "they have demon blood!"
this announcement made all of the meticayan gasp, some hiss, and majority backing away. "hey. hey! see?" jake shouted and held his hands up. "i was born of the sky people, and now i am na'vi. you can adapt, we can adapt."
you said nothing as ronal put you and lo'ak's hands down. for a moment, her and tonowari exchanged glances, as if they spoke with their eyes. ronal put her head down, and looked away.
tonowari then looked and spoke. "toruk makto and his family will stay with us. consider them our brothers and sisters. they do not know the sea. they will be like babies taking their first breath. teach them our ways, so they do not suffer the shame.." he turned to glare at jake. "of being useless." he looked at ao'nung and tsireya. "my son ao'nung and daughter tsireya will guide your children."
this earned a groan from ao'nung, but tsireya quickly ran to lo'ak. "come and see our village!"
as you walked along the netted, hammock-like floors, you saw people come closer to you to watch you walk along. a woman, with an animal you've never seen before, swam up under where you walked and nudged it. you turned to look, and laughed when you saw the creature. you leaned in to rub its head as it squealed. neteyam pulled your tail. "yo, keep up!'" you rolled your eyes as you stood up once again and began to walk with them.
ao'nung and roxto followed quickly behind as tsireya lead ahead to ensure you went the right way.
after you got settled in, you skipped your first day of training. you were tired, and didn't feel like being babied. you walked along the warm beach before you sat down, laying on your back in the sun. after a few minutes, you drifted off.
"hey.. wake up!" you heard a faint voice in the back of your head as your eyes fluttered open. it was jake. "why aren't you training with the other kids?"
"i don't know, i guess i'm just tired."
jake looked at you, a bit of sympathy in his eyes, before he sat down beside you. "listen, kid. let me tell you something about your mother. jas was a kind soul. she was not with what quartitch was doing. she was determined, and she never let anything stand in her way."
he paused before he looked out to the sea. "now, i know something's up with you. i won't push you for it. but at least try and learn something from them? this is your home now. lo'ak isn't making this much easier for us, neteyam isn't watching him, kiri is in her own world, and tuk is only 8. can you just try?"
you looked at him, before you sighed. "fine." you sat up, balanced yourself and walked with him to the group on the other side of the beach. you arrived just in time, as you saw lo'ak and neteyam whooping in unison as they hopped off the side of their home and dove into the water. hesitantly, you watched before diving in with them.
the water was warm, coral surrounding you as you looked around at the fish, that swam with you. you felt your tail being pulled and turned to look at lo'ak and swim after him. you smacked the back of his head before beginning to follow tsireya.
after a moment, you felt this burning sensation in your lungs. you looked over to see lo'ak and neteyam swimming up already, and you followed suit to catch your breath. under the water, you saw ao'nung look around before he swam up.
"you're too fast, wait for us!" tuk said, when she swam up.
ao'nung looked at her and grinned at the rest of us in mockery. "you guys are not good divers. maybe good at swinging through trees," he continued before getting a light tap by tsireya on his shoulder. you laughed at the interaction.
"what are you laughing at, forest girl?"
"you, fish-lips." that earned an eyebrow raise from ao'nung.
"since you're so cocky, let's see how well you can swim." he dove under water, before pulling your leg, dragging you under with him.
quickly, before your head was submerged, you took a deep breath and swam after him. he was fast, obviously. you weren't going to be able to keep up with him. after a moment, you decided to swim to the side and hide in some coral. ao'nung looked around, and swam up.
"where'd she go?" he shouted over to tsireya.
"i'm not sure."
"maybe she drowned," roxto chimed in and got quickly nudged by neteyam. you silently emerged from behind ao'nung, and tackled him. there was a small crowd of "ooo.." before ao'nung realized what happened.
"what the hell?" he said, before being submerged in water. you quickly swam away, but he yipped. suddenly, a long-necked large fish came from behind ao'nung, and he repositioned himself to quickly catch up to you, pulling you onto the fish. you screamed as you came to shore.
"the fuck is that?" you said, staring at the creature.
ao'nung turned to everyone when he spoke. you glared at him, and watched as he begun to click his tongue more to make another noise. suddenly, four more of the same ocean creatures that pulled you arrived.
"these are ilu. if you want to live here, you must ride." he gestured to the creatures that swam up to the ocean. you and lo'ak exchanged a worried glance, you two were not the best when it came to flying ikran, or riding direhorses. swimming an ilu would probably be way worse.
"you first, forest girl." he gestured his hand out to you to help you onto the ilu. you walked over, and swatted his hand away before placing yourself on the ilu.
"i got it."
"no you don't.. you look like you're curled into a ball. straighten your back, use only one hand to hold the saddle." he placed his hand on your back, and you jumped, turning to hiss at him as he put his palms up, moving away. "fine, do it yourself."
you did as he said, holding the saddle with one hand and squaring yourself out. carefully, you pulled your braid from the back of your head and connected it with the ilu. your pupils dialated.
"feel her. feel her breath, feel her soul." ao'nung said to you, as you looked over to see tsireya giving lo'ak the same speech.
you breathed with her, before leaning forward and thinking for the ilu to go forward. and she was fast. after about a minute and a half of gripping on with two hands, afraid of getting yanked off, she made a sharp turn and you fell off, flying back against some coral. you saw lo'ak ahead of you, flying off as well. you heard a laugh underwater as you turned to see ao'nung swimming up. you followed after, and heard him laughing at you two.
"you hardly lasted a minute, you really are like babies." ao'nung said, looking between the two of you.
"enough," tsireya said. "why don't we take a break?"
"best idea today. my stomach hurts too much from laughing at these two." lo'ak glared at him as he got out of the water. you decided not to follow them to where they were going, and just sat down. you saw kiri far out with her ilu earlier, but she was gone now, you were glad she was doing okay.
staring out into the open water, you didn't even notice ao'nung sit beside you.
"forest people are weird. you and kiri both came out to the beach to stare at nothing but calm water."
you looked over at him and noticed the bruising and bloody nose he had, but decided not to say anything. you had faintly heard jake yelling at lo'ak, so you just assumed the two got into it. you looked back at the beach.
"it's warm on the beach."
"was the forest cold or something?"
"no, but it was wet. so it never stayed warm like this."
"the ocean's wet too, you know."
"shut up, smart-ass."
"if you say so." he turned to look at the ocean with you, before he got up. "you didn't do.. terrible. today."
"what?"
"nothing. later tree climber!" he walked away, shouting that so you could hear it.
you scoffed, and continued to look out onto the water. you smiled a little, but didn't notice it.
you didn't do terrible?

some time away (part two)
pairing: ao'nung x omaticayan!reader
summary: you had been doing well with your metkayinan training, you and your found family mastering the "way of water." it was a warm night, and you decided to take your ilu out for a ride.
word count: 2.5k.. wow
warnings: a wee bit of angst, a fight
today was one of your breathing lessons. you, tsireya, ao'nung, roxto, kiri, lo'ak, and neteyam sat in a circle, as tsireya began the process. you, lo'ak, and neteyam were still winded from the ilu riding earlier. you had no clue how kiri was able to keep herself balanced. the riding wasn't the hard part either way, it was the breath holding. 'guess that's why we're doing this lesson,' you thought.
"breathe in," tsireya said as the small circle begun to breathe in through their mouths. roxto would pull up his hands every time he breathed to show the gesture, so subconsciously, you and neteyam had begun to do it too.
"imagine flickering a flame," she said as the group exhaled. "you must slow your heartbeat." roxto raised his hands once again, and there went our breath. tsireya reached over to lo'ak, placing one hand on his chest, and another on his lower abdomen. "breathe in," she said, as lo'ak inhaled once more.
you stifled your laughter as you watched his tail struggling to keep composure behind him. ao'nung scoffed at lo'ak's crush on his sister.
"breathe from down here," tsireya continued. she pressed on his stomach a little, gesturing to his diaphragm. he continued to breathe. "breathe out slowly." he quickly exhaled, unable to focus.
"lo'ak, your heartbeat is fast."
"s-sorry."
it took everything in you, roxto, and neteyam to not cackle at the sight. kiri rolled her eyes and shoved you a bit at the mockery of lo'ak. "what?" you mouthed, grinning.
"try to focus," tsireya said, earning a quick nod from him. "breathe in, and breathe out." neteyam and roxto continued to snicker at the sight. ao'nung quickly stopped this.
"are the rest of you even breathing? or are you just watching lo'ak stare at tsireya with hearts in his eyes?" he interjected, looking at the omaticayan of the circle. tsireya quickly flushed and took her hands off of lo'ak. he looked up, embarrassed, but glaring at ao'nung at the same time.
"you," ao'nung said, pointing to kiri. "breathe."
kiri looked at him for a moment, before rolling her eyes and beginning to breathe. "the way of water has no beginning and no end," he spoke, turning to look at neteyam and you. "come on, start breathing too."
you huffed before beginning to breathe with kiri. "the sea is around you, and in you." tsireya began to join in with the speech, roxto looking at the two before realizing he had to join in as well.
"the sea is your home, before your birth, and after your death."
breathe.
"our hearts beat in the womb of the world. our breath burns in the shadows of the deep."
breathe.
"the sea gives, and the sea takes. water connects all things."
breathe.
"life to death. darkness to light."
breathe.
it was silent for a moment after that, the aura of the circle surprisingly calm. you sighed as everyone else begun to breathe regularly. ao'nung stood up.
"now let's test that breathing in the water."
you weren't the biggest fan of swimming with the ilu, but you quickly began to enjoy it as you got good enough to go deeper, and farther without supervision. the group dove into the water with their ilus' after a quick moment of yipping for them. your favorite ilu training game was tag, where one of the metkayina would tag an omaticaya to challenge them to chase the faster kids. you were good enough to catch up to roxto, but that was about it. at least you were faster than the sullys.
it had been a moment underwater of teaching tsireya, ao'nung, and roxto how to play rock, paper, scissors, but eventually they decided that ao'nung was it.
the omaticayan split, you following neteyam, and lo'ak following kiri and tuk, to make it harder for ao'nung to tag all of them at once. he went after you, your reaction time being a bit too slow when you heard he was it.
riding quick with your ilu, you heard ao'nungs laughter bubble up (literally) as he gave away his breath. quickly, he swam up, and dove right down to you. you made a sharp turn he couldn't see. looking around for a moment, he hissed and turned back for kiri.
kiri was agile, but she wasn't too quick. she was out. she hovered above with tsireya and roxto, treading until it was their turn to be it.
he took a moment to breathe, before going back under. he immediately saw neteyam, who came out to see if the game was over. he swam past, and quickly made a hand signal to a rock. suddenly, you and lo'ak came out and swam in circles to distract ao'nung, before splitting up.
he went straight, unsure who he was headed for. his ilu was going fast, he was sure he wasn't going to see anybody this way but it was a good way to scope the area. he looked to his left before his ilu squealed. he crashed right into you.
you tumbled off your ilu, your ilu having an appropriate reaction and swimming away. the force of the swimming sent you flying backwards, and you slammed your head into some coral. you sat on the ocean floor, clutching your head.
you winced at the feeling of your head, looking at your hand. you were bleeding. fast. you thought back to one of the earlier lessons.
"always watch your head. the coral is sharp, and unforgiving." there was more, but that's all you could think of before you blacked out.
hey
wake up
shit, what happened?
i dont know, my ilu went too fast and i crashed right into her
why would you do that?
it wasn't on purpose, genius.
well it sure looks like it was.
what, because i don't like you guys?
"of course, take us out one by one." lo'ak said. it was the first voice you recognized as you came to. your eyes fluttered as you heard tuk. "she's awake!" the closest voice to you quickly turned away to repeat herself. "she's awake!"
"tuk?" you said, looking at her.
"man, you looked sick. and not in the good sick like dad says." you smiled at her before wincing. your head was still sore.
tsireya and lo'ak rushed to your side to help you up.
"are you okay?" tsireya said, looking at you with worry.
"yeah.. fine." you said, trying to stand yourself up. ao'nung walked over as you balanced yourself. as you used tsireya for support, you gently took her off of you and mumbled a "i got it."
ao'nung stood there, staring at you for a moment. "i'm sorry i crashed into you." he said under his breath.
"wow, reef boy apologizing? never thought i'd see the day." you looked up at him before stumbling.
"falling for me already?" he said, grinning, as you turned away from him.
roxto walked you to your room as you laid down for a bit, and took a nap. all of a sudden, you woke up to shouting and screaming nearby. you sat up, and looked outside the netting to see the familiar blue and teal blurs.
here we go again.
you got up and ran over there. "hey! stop it!" you yelled to lo'ak, pulling on ao'nungs ear. suddenly, he got smacked across the face with.. roxto's tail? what the fuck? you shoved roxto out the way before pulling lo'ak out of ao'nung's grasp.
"enough!" you shouted. "what is wrong with you two? can't get along for shit."
"yeah," ao'nung said between breaths. "get your four-fingered freak sister to help you. you're all freaks."
you didn't even bother to correct him. you and lo'ak weren't related, but it still hurt. four fingered freak? you stared at ao'nung, expression blank. suddenly, neteyam charged in. "hey. back off."
"aww, big brother come to save the day?-" one of ao'nungs goons chimed in before he stopped him. you used this chance to get jake. you ran out into their room.
"firefly, what's wrong?"
"it's lo'ak. ao'nung just like beat his ass-"
"where?"
"down there." you pointed to the beach, and he ran out. you didn't want to follow him, you didn't want to hear the things he would say. you walked to the opposite end of the beach, and sat on some rocks.
it was sunset now, eclipse was coming. your head was filled with everything and nothing at the same time. living with the metkayinan was fun, but it wasn't what you were used to. you missed home, even if your definition of it isn't the exact same as the sully's. dangling your legs of the netting, you looked at your hands.
"just another four-fingered freak." you heard ao'nung and roxto's voices echoing in your head.
you looked back out at the ocean for a minute before lowering yourself into the water, and yipping. your ilu squealed quickly, popping up from under the water. you positioned yourself and took off.
you weren't exactly sure where to go. you hadn't spoken to any of the sully's today after the fight, and you didn't know why. you couldn't say they don't know how you feel, when three of them are half-breeds. jake, lo'ak, and kiri, especially kiri, are probably the only ones who do know how you feel, and yet you couldn't believe that.
along the warm water, you found a large rock. you were taught by tsireya that some rocks were disguised to be caves, pockets of air underwater. you dove your ilu underwater and swam closer to the "rock," to see there was an opening. you got off your ilu and swam into the cave.
the hidden space was beautiful, bioluminescence mimicking the spots on your face as you reached up to touch the moss on the ceiling of the rock. it glowed under your touch as the cave, almost alive, reacted to your every movement. you smiled at your ilu, peeking its head up from under the small crevice you swam into.
"it's okay, i'll call for you when i want to go back. you can leave." you calmly said to the ilu, as it swam off. you turned your attention back to the cave, finding an indent you could perch yourself on. you lifted yourself up, and sat on the ledge, staring down at the water.
you leaned your head back and lost yourself in thought. you weren't really a freak, were you?
thoughts swarmed your head as your memories date back to sneaking inside the abandoned pods.
watching the old video logs your mother made with jake and grace.
looking at her and her five fingers.
looking at you and your five fingers.
why did she make you.. different?, you thought. your heart began to race as tears welled in your eyes. you weren't really the freaks that the metkayina called you, they just aren't very welcoming. right?
your thoughts were interrupted as you heard a splash and a quick gasp for breath. you flinched at the sudden noise and quickly wiped your tears. "ao'nung?" you spoke, staring at the boy.
"y/n?" he said, in the same tone as you. you rolled your eyes at his mockery.
"what are you doing here?"
"i come here all the time, what are you talking about?"
"oh, i didn't know. i just found this spot."
"sorry forest girl, it's taken."
you looked at him before pushing yourself off the ledge and beginning to swim out the crevice. before you could leave, he grabbed a nearby pebble and chucked it at your head. you turned back to him, ready to ask him what that was for, before he spoke.
"you don't have to leave." ao'nung said, gesturing back to where you were seated like it was a throne.
"why not? seems like you can't stand me and my four fingers." you stopped swimming and tread in place as he stared at you. something about his gaze was different. you were used to the piercing mockery he always gave you and lo'ak, but this time it was .. calmer.
"it's a cool spot, i'm sure it has room for two. and i'm sorry about what i said." he shrugged and pushed himself up on the ledge, sifting some moss and fish eggs out of the way and back into the water. you sat beside him. it was silent for a while, before he decided to speak again. "so, how's your ilu doing? i saw him on the way here. when's the last time you fed him?"
you paused for a minute, processing what he just said. ".... you feed them?"
".... y/n you can't be serious."
"i thought they fed themselves?"
"oh eywa, you're starving your ilu. come," he said, before diving in the water. you hesitated before following him, but did so anyways. you tapped him and quickly signed.
"what are we doing?"
"getting your poor ilu some fish." he digged in the small pouch he had and pulled out a dagger. "call your ilu and stay here," he signed. he swam away. you did as he said, although you weren't very sure about this.
after a moment, he returned with a fish, and tossed it to you. "feed him." you stared at the fish, then at your ilu. what if he bit you? you were scared, did you really have to? why-
"feed the damn ilu!"
you flinched at his rough tap and saw him sign that, before you quickly shoved the fish to the ilu. he squealed and ate it. you smiled at him. he gestured you to follow him to shore. you sat on your ilu above water, as he laughed at you.
"you were so scared, for what?"
you laughed with him. "i don't know, i-" you cut yourself of when you heard the familiar yipping. neytiri was looking for you. shit. was it past eclipse already?
"jake/dad's gonna kill me." the two of you said in unison. you looked at each other and grinned.
"race you to shore?" he said.
"you're on."
you lost bad btw
"where were you?" jake said, staring at.. ao'nung?
you were confused, until you saw neteyam charging up. "tell them what you did!" he shouted to him. he looked confused, until realization hit. he away in shame.
"i took lo'ak beyond the reefs."
"you what?" you interjected. you couldn't believe him, but after a moment it made sense. "is that why you kept me out on the water? so i wouldn't realize he was gone?"
"no, it wasn't that-" he could barely get it out before you got off your ilu and walked away. you thought you could make amends with ao'nung, after what he had said.
guess you were wrong.

Pairing: Ao'nung x omaticayan! fem!reader
Summary: read to find out lol.
Warnings: Angstt, crying, Ronal
Authorâs note: I'm feeding y'all
Credits: For the whole plot idea I have for this fanfic I have to credit and thank @lorre-verie <3
- I asked you one thing. One. What was the only thing I asked? Jake Sullyâs voice was sharp, practically vibrating with frustration as he paced back and forth in the marui, his ears pinned back and tail flicking angrily. His gaze bore into his sons, demanding an answer.
- Stay out of trouble, sir. Neteyam responded, his voice quiet but steady
- Stay out of trouble.. Loâak said with his head down, avoiding his fatherâs eyes.
- Stay. Out. Of. Trouble! Jake's voice boomed, his fury bubbling over as he looked between Lo'ak and Neteyam, his eyes blazing. - And what do you do? You get into a full-out fight!
Lorre stood off to the side, watching Loâak and Neteyam endure the brunt of their fatherâs fury. She knew this scolding was meant for her as well, though Jake hadn't directed it to her yet.
Before she could dwell on it further, a soft touch brushed against her cheek, making her flinch. Lorre turned quickly, startled, only to find Neytiri standing beside her, concern etched across her face. Neytiriâs fingers gently grazed the angry red mark on Lorreâs cheek, her eyes narrowing in quiet worry.
- Thatâs going to bruise. Neytiri said amongst the other noises in the marui. her thumb lingering on the spot, the warmth of her touch contrasting with the cold sting of the injury. Lorre met her gaze, feeling a lump form in her throat. Why was she so nice to the child of someone so horrible?
- DadâSir, it was my fault. Neteyam said quickly, stepping in front of Lo'ak without hesitation.
Jakeâs gaze narrowed, frustration etched deep into his face. - I donât think so. he warned, his tone sharp but controlled. - You gotta stop taking the heat for this knucklehead! His tail flicked behind him, a clear sign of his effort to rein in his temper.
Neteyam held his ground, his lips pressed into a thin line, but before he could speak again, Lo'akâs voice cut through the tense air. - Dad, Aoânung was picking on Kiri. He called her a freak, and his friends even hit Lorre. His words were quite, and as he lifted his head, the bruises on his face became painfully obvious under the harsh light filtering into the marui.
A heavy silence fell over them. Lorre stood off to the side, her skin prickling under the sudden attention.
- Ma Jake. Neytiri whispered, her voice soft, yet firm, trying to soothe the tension. She gently placed her hand on his arm, but Jakeâs eyes were already locked on the bruise marking Lorreâs face. His earlier anger faltered, replaced by a flicker of guilt and protectiveness.
With a heavy sigh, Jake turned his attention back to Lo'ak, his voice calmer but still cold. - Go apologize to Aonung.
Lo'akâs head jerked up, disbelief flashing in his eyes. - What? The word came out almost as a gasp, his bruised face twisted in confusion and anger.
- Heâs the chiefâs son. Jake continued, his tone unyielding. - I donât care how you do it. Just go make peace. Do you understand me?
Lo'ak clenched his fists, his whole body tense. His lips moved in a muttered curse, barely audible, before he stormed out the Marui, his footsteps heavy with anger.
Neteyam hesitated for a moment, his eyes flicking between his father and his brother. He gave a small nod before turning to follow Lo'ak, his shoulders slumped, leaving Lorre standing there with their parents.
Jakeâs full attention shifted to Lorre, and she could only gulp. Sheâd never been alone with both of them for longer than a couple of minutes, so the silence felt suffocating. The air was thick with an awkwardness that made her shift on her feet, knowing no one would come in to break it
Jakeâs gaze lingered on her, as if he was trying to figure out what to say. She could sense the same discomfort in him that she was feeling.
- You can go now, Lorre. Neytiri stepped in, her voice gentle, breaking the tension between them. She offered Lorre a small smile and gave her bruised cheek one last glance. - Ask the tsahik to help you heal your bruise faster.
Lorre nodded quickly, doing her best to avoid any further eye contact. She tried to make her exit as calmly as possible, but her heart raced as she passed by Jake. She wasnât used to thisâbeing alone with them, not without the others there to buffer the awkwardness.
- Hey. Jakeâs voice stopped her in her tracks. Lorre turned back, unsure of what to expect. - Howâd the other guys look?
A smile tugged at the corners of her mouth, and she made a mental note to tell Lo'ak about this later. - Worse. Her voice betrayed her amusement, and though she tried to hold back her grin, her tail swayed, giving her away.
Jakeâs lips quirked into a faint smile. - Thatâs good
- A lot worse. Lorre pushed her luck, her grin widening as she glanced over at Neytiri, who gave her a knowing look.
Jake shook his head, but there was a glint of humor in his eyes. - Get out of here.
He reached out and ruffled her hair affectionately. - Go on, Lor. Patch yourself up.
Lorre laughed, her heart feeling lighter as she finally stepped out of the marui, the weight of the awkwardness lifting behind her.
ââââââââ
- Hitting a girl. With a tail! That boy better get a scolding of his life! Ronalâs voice was filled with indignation as she applied the healing paste to Lorreâs bruised cheek. Her fingers worked with a practiced touch, but her expression was a mix of anger and concern.
Lorre flinched as the cool paste touched her swollen skin. She had thought the bruise would heal on its own, but Ronal had appeared out of nowhere, her sharp eyes immediately noticing the mark. Without a word, she had guided Lorre to her marui, determined to take care of the injury.
Ronalâs hands moved swiftly but gently, her frustration evident in her tone meanwhile Lorreâs discomfort was clear. She tried to offer a small smile, but it didn't fully reach her eyes.
Lorre sat alone in the marui, her eyes fixed on a spot on the floor as she silently wished for time to speed up. The quiet of the space felt foreign and heavy, amplifying her exhaustion and desire to escape the tense atmosphere.
The stillness gave her too much space to think, and her mind was overwhelmed with questions and reflections about the recent events. Each moment of her day replayed in her head, from the awkward encounters to the painful confrontations. Every small detail seemed magnified in her solitude, making it harder for her to find clarity or peace.
She was so absorbed in her swirling thoughts that she didnât notice when someone entered the marui. The faint sound of footsteps and the soft rustle of movement went unnoticeduntil Ronalâs voice called out.
- Aonung. What were you thinking? Ronalâs voice rang out, sharp and filled with disappointment.
Lorre snapped back to awareness, her head spinning as she stood up quickly. The sudden movement caused a sharp pain, making her clutch her forehead as she fought through the dizziness.
Once the pain eased, she walked slowly toward the exit, carefully avoiding Ronalâs intense gaze. Aonung stood with his head down, clearly embarrassed as his mother continued to scold him.
- Thank you, Tsahik. Lorre said quickly, her voice steady but tired. She gave Aonung one last look before stepping out of the marui.
ââââââââ
It was well past the eclipse now, and Lorre sat quietly beside the Sully familyâs marui, her feet dangling in the sparkling water. The gentle glow from the bioluminescent plants danced on the surface, while golden fish swam lazily around her legs, their scales catching the faint light as they circled in a calming rhythm.
The stillness felt unfamiliar. It hadnât been this quiet for a long time, and she couldnât remember the last moment sheâd been alone like this since meeting the Sullys. Their world was always so fullâof laughter, arguments, stories, and the constant hum of life. But now, with the night settling in and the village hushed, her thoughts began to bubble up, uninvited.
She stared at the water, her reflection rippling in the soft current, and let herself drift into the memories sheâd been pushing aside for days. There was no avoiding them now.
Sitting there, you focused on your breathing. Inhale through the nose, fill the stomach, hold, then releaseâjust as Tsireya had taught you. Slowly, the world around you began to blur, the once sharp sounds of voices and crashing waves fading into a soft, faraway hum.
You could feel the warmth of the sand beneath your legs, the grains pressing gently against your skin, while the breeze from the ocean whispered over you, cool and calming. For the first time in a long while, there was a brief moment of peace. A chance to just breathe, to let go of the chaos swirling in your mind.
Since arriving with the Sullys, everything had been a whirlwind. You hadnât had a single moment to sit and process it all. Not the fact that you had a brother nowâa brother you never even knew existed. You didnât know if he was older or younger, and somehow, even that felt important. The questions piled up, and no one had answers that made any sense.
And then there was your father. You hadnât even begun to grasp the reality of him being backâalive, but different, his soul trapped in an Avatar body, and driven by a thirst for revenge. It was as if the whole world had shifted overnight, and you were left spinning in its wake, struggling to catch your breath, struggling to find any sense of stability.
The worst part was the memory that wouldnât fade. During the swimming lesson with her Ilu and the others, she had been moving through the water with ease. But as she surfaced, a sharp pain gripped her chest, and she started coughing up blood. The red droplets spread in the clear water, a horrifying sign that something was terribly wrong.
Every cough felt like her lungs were about to burst. The sight of her own blood in the water was terrifying and confusing. She couldnât understand what was wrong with her.
What scared her even more was the thought of telling anyone. What if they saw her as a burden? The fear of being abandoned or rejected because of her unexplained symptoms kept her silent. The weight of her unanswered questions and the dread of being cast aside left her feeling completely alone.
But sitting there now, feeling the earth beneath you, the ocean air on your face, you tried to let it all go. Just for a moment. Just to breathe.
Lorre inhaled deeply, savoring the rare silence that surrounded her. But even that brief peace seemed to slip away. Her ears twitched, picking up on the slow, almost hesitant footsteps approaching from behind. The quiet rhythm of each step broke the stillness, pulling her back from her thoughts.
She felt the presence settle beside her, not just anyoneâshe knew exactly who it was. Jake Sully. His weight shifted the platform they sat on slightly, but he remained silent, hesitant. Lorre kept her eyes closed, clinging to what was left of her disturbed peace. She knew he was waiting, unsure if she was ready to talk. For now, she wasnât.
- Are youâ
- I wish I knew her. Lorre's voice was barely a whisper, breaking through the silence. She turned her head toward Jake, her eyes filled with a mixture of longing and pain.
- Knew who? Jake asked, his eyebrows drawing together in concern.
- My mother. Lorre said, her voice catching. - Paz Socorro.
Jakeâs expression softened as he placed a gentle hand on her back, feeling the tremor in her body.
- It feels like Iâve missed out on so much Lorre continued, her voice cracking. - Like there's a part of me thatâs been left behind, even though I donât know what she looked like or what she was like. And my brotherâ I have a brother. Is he older or younger than me? Do you think he's going to be okay?
Jake took a deep breath, the weight of her words evident on his face. - I donât have all the details about your mother, he said gently. - When we got rid of the Sky People, they left no information about you. But I promise Iâll try to find out more if I can. It might take some time. I'm Sorry kid- but l truly don't know anything about you yet.
Lorreâs lips trembled, and she felt an overwhelming sense of abandonment. How could anyone do this to her?
- Why? she asked, her voice breaking. - Why did you let me come with you? Why are you being so kind to me when my father caused your family so much pain?
Her tears fell freely now, tracing paths down her cheeks as she struggled to control her emotions. Her sobs were quiet but heart-wrenching.
- I have a brother. she said through her tears, forcing a small, shaky laugh as she wiped her face. - Milesâwhat is he like?
Jake looked at her with a mixture of sadness and warmth. He could see the deep longing in her eyes, the need for connection and understanding.
- Spiderâs got a wild spirit Jake said with a tender smile. - Heâs always been full of energy, always on the move. Heâs a bit of a troublemaker, but heâs fiercely loyal and kind. Heâs been through a lot, just like you, but heâs strong, and heâs going to be fine.
Lorreâs tears flowed uncontrollably, yet a spark of hope flickered in her eyes as she thought of her brother. When she first met the Sully kids, the truth hit her with a painful clarity. She had always dreamed of having a sibling, someone who would understand her and share her life. Now, realizing Spider was that sibling, she felt a profound sense of loss and a deep, aching connection she had yearned for all her life.
In the silence, Lorreâs mind replayed the terrifying moment sheâd felt the blood in her mouth, the fear and confusion still fresh in her memory. As she sat next to Jake, she felt a surge of anxiety and a desperate need to share what had happened. Her heart raced, and she took a shaky breath, about to speak.
- I have something to teâ
Before she could finish, Neteyam abruptly interrupted. She and Jake turned to see him dragging Aonung towards them, his grip tight and his face set in a serious expression. - Tell him what you told me!

the stars keep on calling my name, pt 1: ikran flying âÂ·Ë àŒ *
pairing: sully reader x ao'nung
summary: after spending your time in the awa'altu clan with the metkayina children, you've feel a bit homesick and decide to run back to what you know. a suprise comes to you when a special visitor wants to tag along. how long can he survive on an ikran?
word count: 798, a short one
warnings: if ur an avatar nerd, this doesn't really make sense plot-wise. sorry. (i don't care.)
a/n: sorry for taking 8 n a half months to make something but i got a few things for yall.. i hope. and yes i know this fic is kind of unrealistic but aren't they all? emd.
you were sick.
not literally, god no. you'd rather the sky people take your life now than show sign of weakness on this godforsaken water park. you hated it here.
your disdain for this place ran deep. youâve endured nearly a year at awaâaltu, long after the war had ended. donât get me wrong, the clan's hospitality was great. you cherished the friendships formed over the year and were awestruck by the ocean's beauty. however, your heart longed for home.
the forest.
the trees you grew up with, and the familiar vines and cliffs you've climbed your entire life. and just suddenly, without warning, your father uprooted us all and relocated us to a barren land of wet sand and peculiar fish. and of course, you understood why we were doing this. you didnt want to hurt your clan by staying with your omaticayan family, and with the sky people haunting you, it seemed more than likely that staying with tonowari, ronal, and the rest of the metkayina was your best option. but still, it hurt. so,
you were leaving.
you finally mustered up the courage to sneak out of your marui that was wonderfully woven by the women of the clan, just for you and your family. it was late, so you didnt have to worry about your family seeing you as you continued to walk past the other pods.
lo'ak knew about your plan. tuk cried the night prior, but your feathered kisses to her forehead and promises to come back for her seemed to soothe her. kiri was upset that you didn't take her with you. neteyam would have told mom and dad, so he's oblivious to it all.
the stars glimmered in the night, making your bioluminescence shimmer in a way that made you look beautiful. as your feet left marks through the sand, your stride was confident. it was a way he had never seen before.
aoânung.
you and aoânung never had the best relationship, especially with you being from a foreign clan and even having the slightest bit of demon blood, even though it didnt show through your three fingers. he despised you and your family. except,
he couldnt get your beauty out of your head. he never could, and yet now, it was even worse.
striding down the wet sand, you could almost feel it turn into the mud and grass you would feel if you were back home. you could smell the mist, although it didnât have a particular scent. it just smelled.. home-y. you took your ikran by its queue, the same way you would tug on a vine while climbing a tree, and hoisted yourself on before making the bond.
you had to feel the agitation in your ikran before you noticed ao'nung pathetically attempting to crawl onto her tail. she began to screech and flail her tail around before you protested.
"wait!" you whisper-yelled as he almost went flying into the ocean.
"where do you think you're going??" ao'nung said in a mocking tone. he was teasing you, but you weren't kidding this time.
"i'm leaving."
a moment of silence rolled over. ao'nung's face contorted in a way you'd never seen before. surely he'd run to tell your dad. but then.. his lips curled on his face. was he.. trying to smile? regardless, it wasn't a good look for him. after a while of you blankly staring back at him, he stopped.
"you're serious?"
"yes." you said before you turned away, shifted your posture, and your ikran stretched its wings. you leaned forward before the first flap into the air lifted you to home. the wings lifted..
"wait!" he shouted over your ikran's rustles.
"what?" you said agitated. now that the idea was taking place you couldn't wait to leave.
"take me with you."
now it was your turn to laugh. it was also your turn to ask if he was serious. and you still didn't believe him as he half-ass climed his way up onto your ikran.
"ao'nung, get off. i'm leaving."
"no."
"..suit yourself," you muttered. fly as reckless as you can, knock him off. your inner thoughts amused your ikran as she flew off as steep as she could.
ao'nungs screams could have been heard throughout the whole kingdom, if they weren't thousands of feet in the air. he held on to you as hard as possible as your ikran made short stops, dives, and spins you didn't even know she could do. your hair flew behind you into his face, so every now and then the putters of him spitting out a few lost strands made you laugh. eventually you told her to settle down.
out of breath, a smug ao'nung commented, "are you done trying to get me to fall off now?"
"yeah," you giggled through his sighs.
my short apology
... my bad cuz

Pairing: Ao'nung x omaticayan!fem!reader
Summary: She has what now?
Warnings: angst, crying
Authorâs note: l have been waiting to finally write this chapter and Iâm so excited!
Credits: For the whole plot idea I have for this fanfic I have to credit and thank @lorre-verie <3
Sounds began to return, soft and steady, like waves lapping at the shore. She could hear voices around herâlow and familiar, each one calming the storm still lingering in her mind. Slowly, she opened her eyes, blinking against the gentle light filtering in.
Warm, golden light poured through the woven walls, casting soft shapes across her vision. Everything felt quieter here, softer. She could feel a cool cloth resting on her forehead, and the faint scent of herbs filled the air. The earthy aroma mixed with the smell of woven fibers, bringing a strange sense of comfort, grounding her in this place.
Her eyes adjusted, making out details of the roomâthe patterned mats beneath her, the soft flickering of light as it danced across the walls. Gentle voices murmured around her, familiar tones that she couldnât quite make out but recognized all the same. The rhythm of their voices was calming.
As her senses sharpened, she took in each small detail, each sound and smell, letting them steady her. She wasnât alone. The quiet presence of those around her filled her with a warmth she hadnât realized sheâd been missing.
Your body jolted forward, your head spinning as if you were still right in front of your father.
- Woah, woah, slow down, tiger. A warm, steady voice urged. Familiar hands gripped your shoulders, grounding youâyour dad. You felt another hand, gentle and steady, rest on your backâyour mother.
Around you, faint sniffles drifted through the air, tugging at your heart. Tuk. The little sounds wove their way into your hazy thoughts, piecing things together, pulling you back into the present moment.
Each breath you took made the world a bit clearer. Your chest rose and fell, calming the pounding in your head, and you focused on the sensation of cold handsâyour ownâpressing against your face, fingers working gently over your eyelids. With every touch, you felt more awake, more in control.
- Thatâs it, princess. Come back to us. your dad murmured, his voice a soft, steady anchor. His hands remained firmly on your shoulders, as if afraid youâd drift away if he let go.
You blinked a few times, adjusting to the dim, earthy light of the tent. The faces of your family came into focus, watching you with a mix of worry and relief. Tukâs large, tear-filled eyes gazed up at you from the foot of the hammock, while Neteyam and Loâak stood nearby, tense but quiet. Kiri lingered at the edge, a bowl of herbs clutched in her hands, her usual smile subdued.
You took in the scents around youâthe pungent, earthy aroma of herbs, the faint salt of the sea, and the cool dampness of woven fibers surrounding you. You were in the Metkayinaâs healer tent, nestled in a hammock.
You heard Kiri's voice somewhere behind you, - Do you need anything? her words echoed in your brain.
You opened your mouth, rubbing your temples - K-Kirel sap.⊠you managed to utter, - please.
A slight pause ensued, but was followed shortly by the sounds of Kiri rummaging through the herbs to make the mixture.
- How are you feeling? Neteyamâs voice was soft, a warmth threading through his words as he looked at you, his gaze full of concern. He sat close beside your mother, his expression guarded but undeniably worried, while Lo'ak hovered behind him, his face lined with tension.
You took a breath, your voice coming out small and unsteady. - I think⊠Iâm okay. you replied, though a flicker of hesitation colored your words. You could feel the ache in your muscles, like your body was piecing itself back together after something too big, too intense. - What⊠what happened?
As you tried to sit up a little more, the stiffness made you wince, but it reminded you that you were alive, each sensation grounding you more in the present. The question lingered in the air, unanswered, as Neteyam and Lo'ak exchanged a glance, their silence more telling than any words.
Before they could respond, Kiri appeared beside you with a small bowl, the steam from the greenish liquid inside curling upward in gentle tendrils. Her expression was focused, brows slightly furrowed, though there was a soft kindness in her eyes. She tapped your chin, encouraging you to open your mouth.
- I can drink it myseâ you began, but Kiri ignored you, tipping the bowl forward until the thick, bitter liquid met your lips. The taste was sharp and earthy, sliding down your throat with a harsh, almost smoky tang that made you wince. You forced yourself to swallow, nearly choking as the liquid settled heavily in your stomach. When she pulled the bowl back, you took a shuddering breath, trying to get the taste out of your mouth.
Glaring up at her, you saw the smirk on her face, one brow raised in silent triumph. - Thatâs what you get for insisting on kirel sap over tamla root. she said, tucking the bowl away as if sheâd won some unspoken argument.
The kirel sap left a prickly warmth in your throat, seeping through you with almost electric energy that made your skin buzz.
- Kirel sap is stronger. you managed, eyebrows pulling together as you grimaced, the taste lingering stubbornly.
Kiri rolled her eyes, her smile widening, - Maybe, but tamla root works just as well, and it doesnât make you look like youâre swallowing raw tar. Her tone was teasing, but there was something in her gaze that softened like she was silently glad you were here to bicker over it. - Youâre lucky you only had a brush with Eywa, or Iâd be pouring Tamla root tea down your throat instead.
"Near-death experience." The words echoed in your mind, and fragments of memory started to hit you, sharp and disjointed. You remembered the knife slipping from your hand, the harsh, metallic taste of blood filling your mouth as the blow struck your forehead.
Warmth had pooled down your face, blurring your vision in red streaks. You remembered the darkness closing in, heavy and thick, swallowing the sounds around you until all that was left was the fading thump of your own heartbeat.
Each flash was like a stab of cold-a feeling of slipping under, of drowning in silence, of desperately reaching for something solid as the world faded away. The memories were raw, each one as vivid and sharp as the pain itself.
Your heart pounded as realization slowly dawned, each thump heavy and unsteady, settling like a cold weight in your chest.
- Who⊠you murmured, the words fragile and uncertain, sticking in your throat. Every fiber of your body resisted the question, yet it forced its way out, raw and trembling. You lifted your gaze to Neteyam, searching his eyes as if they held all the answers. - Who brought me here?
Neteyamâs jaw tightened, his face shadowed with something unreadable. His gaze dropped, eyes refusing to meet yours, and an unsettling silence stretched between you. The quiet felt dense, a wall holding back words he couldnât bring himself to say. And in that wordless pause, his reluctance told you everythingâit wasnât him who had brought you here.
- Neteyam? you tried again, your voice laced with urgency and fear, memories pressing forward in jagged, disjointed flashes. Roâuk, Kaâali, Raiâtoâtheir faces emerged like ghosts, stirring a deep ache in your chest. Anxiety twisted inside you, a rising storm of panic. - What happened to them? Where⊠where is Roâuk?
- Theyâre safe, Lorre. Loâakâs voice was a gentle attempt at reassurance, his hand settling firmly but carefully on your shoulder, his fingers a steady weight against your skin as he leaned down, gently urging you back. - You just need to rest, alright?
But his words only sharpened your worry. - Are you sure theyâre alright? you asked, your voice fragile as you searched each face, pleading for the truth. - Promise me, Loâak. Please.
You moved your hand to remove his, but the unexpected sensation of something cold and foreign wrapped around your wrist made you pauseâa slender wire connected to a device beside you, its faint, rhythmic beeps filling the quiet air.
A wave of alarm surged through you. Glancing down, you noticed other wires trailing from your arms, attaching you to strange machines emitting subtle, blinking lights.
Your breath hitched as you took in the unfamiliar surroundings. There was a low hum of technology woven into the fabric of the Marui walls, clashing with the warmth of the space you knew. The scent of herbs mixed uneasily with the sterile smell of something metallic and unrecognizable.
Kiri, noticing your distress, moved closer. Her fingers lightly brushed over yours, the familiar warmth of her touch an attempt to anchor you, but even that felt distant against the cold reality of the wires and machines surrounding you. Her eyes, filled with worry, tried to convey a silent reassurance.
- Whatâs happening? you whispered, barely able to voice the question as you glanced between Kiri and Neteyam. - Kiri⊠what is all of this? Each word was thick with the weight of confusion and fear.
Neytiri, her expression softening with understanding, stepped forward. She placed a gentle hand on your shoulder, her fingers warm, grounding you with the quiet strength of her presence. - Sweet girl. she murmured, her voice gentle, - These are Jakeâs friends. They came to help. Her gaze flickered briefly toward the doorway, where Jake had just stepped outside.
Through the open flap, you caught a glimpse of him speaking in low tones with a tall Naâvi whose skin bore unfamiliar forest markings.
- When Dad found out something happened, he didnât hesitate, Neteyamâs voice was quieter now, softened by relief mingling with his own worry. - He called his friends from the forestâthey came right away to help.
The words meant to soothe felt foreign, layered with all the unfamiliarity around you. The faint beeps, the quiet hum of machines, the sterile presence of medical equipmentâall of it seemed out of place.
Your eyes drifted around the room, taking in the small monitors with their pulsing lights, an oxygen mask discarded nearby, and the strange packs labeled with symbols you couldnât recognize.
Tuk, small and hesitant, peeked out from behind Neytiri, her wide eyes red-rimmed, damp with worry. She held back a soft sniffle as she caught your gaze, her tiny form almost swallowed by the shadows of the room.
Neytiri gently nudged her forward, and Tuk took a shaky step toward you. Her small fingers reached for your hand, and her grasp was surprisingly strong, clinging to you with a quiet desperation. She wiped her tear-streaked cheeks with her free hand, managing a brave but trembling smile.
- Donât scare us like that, Lorre. she whispered, her voice trembling as her fingers tightened around yours.
You wanted to say something reassuring, to tell her you were okay, but the cold, foreign reality of the machines around you stole your words. Loâakâs hand remained steady on your shoulder, his grip grounding, as though silently urging you to focus on the warmth of his touch rather than the questions swirling in your mind.
- Lorre, Iâm so sad about Nami. Tukâs voice came out in a small, broken whisper, her words punctuated by quiet sniffling. - I really liked her. Her little hand tightened in yours as she leaned her head against your shoulder, seeking comfort in the closeness, her tiny frame heavy with grief.
The name lingered between you, heavy with loss. Namiâshe was gone, taken by a cruelty Lorre could barely fathom, by the merciless hand of her fatherâs orders. Her chest tightened as the brutal truth of it settled in, a raw ache twisting inside her.
Lorre closed her eyes, lips pressed together, fighting back the wave of tears threatening to break free. She couldnât cry now, not with Tuk clinging to her, searching for the stability Lorre barely felt she could provide.
Her jaw clenched, every breath a battle against the grief swelling within her. She reached up to gently stroke Tukâs hair, letting her fingers run through the soft braids in an effort to soothe them both.
- Me too, Tuk. she murmured, voice trembling as she spoke. - I miss her, too.
Tuk gave a shaky nod, her tears slowly quieting
ââââââââ
Norm paused, looking at Jake with a troubled expression. - Alright, from her brain scan, it looks like she had some kind of stroke. He hesitated, glancing down at the tablet in his hands, his lips pressed into a thin line. - But⊠thatâs not the only thing we found.
Jakeâs face tensed, his brows knitting together. - What? What else did you find?
Normâs eyes shifted nervously to your sleeping form. - The state sheâs inâitâs some kind of defense mechanism. Her body doesnât have the energy to function fully right now, so itâs⊠shut down to protect itself. He gestured to a small syringe that Max was preparing nearby, the needle gleaming faintly in the low light. - This injection should help stabilize her, and give her enough strength to come around. But, Jake, thereâs something seriously wrong here.
Jakeâs jaw clenched as he stared at Norm, fear flickering in his eyes. - Get to the point. he said, his voice rough. - Defense mechanism? What kind of defense mechanism is that? Is this normal?
Norm shook his head, his voice calm but weighted. - No, itâs not. Itâs a reaction tied to her unique DNA. Sheâs part Naâvi, part avatar, and part human⊠and something in that mix isnât working right.
Jakeâs face shifted with a confused look. - What are you saying, Norm?
Norm took a deep breath and held up the tablet, zooming in on a section of your DNA. - I took a sample. Look here. He pointed to a specific gene on the screen, highlighting a pattern that looked out of place. - See that strand right there? Itâs a gene that can increase the risk of lung cancer. And if it spreads, it can metastasize to the brain, which⊠could mean a brain tumor.
Jakeâs face went pale, his eyes wide with a shock that quickly gave way to panic. - A⊠brain tumor? Are you saying she has a brain tumor?
Norm was quick to respond, his tone steady but cautious. - Not exactly. This isnât like a traditional tumor. The Naâvi genes she has seem to interfere with its growth, slowing it down. But if she has metastases in the brain, it means the lung cells might have spread, turning it metastatic rather than a primary brain tumor. He paused, letting that sink in, before adding gently, - But we need to ask her if sheâs had any symptoms. Without a blood sample, thatâs the best indicator we have.
Jake looked down, his hands rubbing over his face in distress. He tried to remember anything youâd mentioned, some small hint that wouldâve given this away. But aside from the headaches, nothing clear came to mind.
Finally, Jake took a shaky breath, lifting his gaze to Norm. - She hasnât said anything⊠other than a few headaches here and there. He swallowed, trying to push down the knot in his chest. - Sheâll be fine, right? Weâd know by now if it was serious.
Norm placed a steadying hand on Jakeâs shoulder, nodding with reassurance. - Then thereâs no need to worry just yet, Jake. Weâll take it one step at a time.
At that moment, a soft flutter of movement caught their attention. Your eyes began to open slowly, lashes flickering as the world started to come back into focus.
- Sheâs waking up Max spoke when he noticed slight movement.
Jakeâs face broke into a relieved smile as he leaned forward, gently pushing Max aside. The blurry outlines sharpened into the familiar sight of your father, Norm, and Max all standing over you.
- Hey, princess. Jake murmured, his voice a low, gentle hum as he reached for your hand. His expression was warm but fragile, a thin veil over the worry that hadnât left his face. - How are you feeling?
- Iâm fine. you mumbled, wincing as a dull throb pulsed through your head. - My head just hurts.
Outside, Neteyam and Loâak sat cross-legged in front of the Maruiâs entryway, faces glowing with excitement as they tinkered with Normâs iPad. The device, never meant for Naâvi fingers, had become their prize possession for the day, and they had been tasked with warding away any âintruders.â
Neteyam gave a low hiss, trying to wrestle the iPad from Loâakâs hands. - Iâm trying, bro! Stop pulling! These werenât made for Naâvi fingers!
Loâakâs grip tightened, his eyes flashing with determination. - Donât yank it, Neteyam! Youâll break it!
Just then, Aoânung appeared, crossing his arms and looking down at the two squabbling brothers with thinly veiled impatience. - Hey. Move. I need to get in.
Loâak didnât even look up, his focus glued to the screen. - Go away, swamp sucker. he muttered, swatting at Neteyamâs fingers as they both clung to the delicate device.
Ao'nung's face twisted slightly, nose scrunching at the human insult Lo'ak had tossed his way. With a sharp inhale, he lifted his leg as if to step over them, only to be blocked by Neteyamâs outstretched hand, which shoved his foot back into the sand. - Hey! No entry! Neteyam declared, taking advantage of the distraction to snatch the iPad from Loâakâs grip.
Loâakâs eyes narrowed, his patience running thin. - Give that back, idiot!
Aoânungâs frustration simmered as he glared at them, hands clenched tightly. - Let me through. he insisted, his voice laced with the faintest hint of pleading. Normally, Loâak wouldâve been all too eager to tease him for showing any kind of vulnerability, but the allure of the iPad held him in its thrall.
- You arenât family. Get lost! Loâak grumbled, ignoring Aoânungâs protests as he put Neteyam into a playful headlock, still managing to keep his eyes on the screen.
With a scowl and a huff, Aoânung spun on his heel, stalking away. - Tch. Watch me become part of your family, skxawng. he muttered under his breath, shooting them one last glare as Kiri and Tuk sprinted past him, their faces lit up with excitement at the sight of the iPad.
Loâak and Neteyam barely noticed as Kiri and Tuk joined the tug-of-war, the four siblings now locked in a fierce battle over their âprize,â laughter and squabbling filling the air as Aoânung retreated, shaking his head.
You took a slow sip of water from the cup Norm handed you, trying to ease the dryness in your throat. He sat across from you, his face softened with a sadness you couldnât quite understand. Setting the tablet on his lap, he looked at you with a gentle, almost forced smile.
- Now, Iâm going to ask you a few questions, alright?
You nodded hesitantly, and he began.
- Have you been getting any fevers?
You shook your head. - No. Just a headache.
Norm scratched something down on his tablet, his expression turning more serious. - Lost any weight recently? Waitâno, you guys donât weigh yourselves here. Um, any nosebleeds?
The memory surfaced, sharp and clear: a nosebleed you hadnât thought much about. You gave him a single nod.
He continued, his gaze growing heavier, and you could feel the tension building in the room. - AndâŠhave you⊠coughed up blood by any chance?
You paused, images flashing of the moment youâd felt a warm trickle of blood as you trained, wiping it away quickly so no one would notice. You gave a slow, reluctant nod, two to be exact, your eyes darting to your father.
Jakeâs gaze pierced you, as if searching for answers you hadnât given him. His face softened, but beneath the quiet concern was something sharper. Why hadnât you told him? How could he not have known?
Normâs eyes flickered from you to Jake, then back to his tablet, hesitation in every small movement. His tone softened, laced with worry. - You said⊠sheâs been having these headaches for a while now?
Jake nodded stiffly, the implications dawning on him like a weight dragging him down. He couldnât fully process what Norm was suggesting. His gaze drifted to you, watching you with that puzzled, innocent expression as if none of this could really be happening. The room felt colder and smaller, and at that moment, it was as if the floor beneath him had vanished, leaving him suspended over an abyss.
His throat tightened, and he fought to keep his voice steady, even as his heart pounded with a sense of dread that settled in his bones. Norm exchanged a look with Max, and they led Jake to the far side of the Marui, their expressions a mirror of silent grief.
Norm glanced back at you with a soft, pained smile. - Wait here, alright? Weâre just going to talk.
Three small nods.
Jakeâs voice trembled as he whispered to them. - Thereâsâthereâs gotta be treatment, right? Something?
Normâs shoulders slumped. - Jake⊠Iâm so sorry.
A hollow silence fell between them. Jakeâs voice broke as he pressed on, desperate. - Thereâs got to be something you can do!
Norm shook his head slowly. - Weâre not sure if any treatment would work. Her Naâvi genes and the human illnessâitâs⊠itâs so intertwined, Jake. We donât have the technology, or the knowledge, and this hasnât happened before.
A wave of helplessness crashed over him, almost suffocating. - Soâso sheâs just going toâŠdie? His voice cracked, and his whole body felt numb as he met their pitying gazes, each filled with silent confirmation.
When he returned to the others, the weight of the news was written in his eyes before he even said a word. And in that moment, it felt like the world had stopped.
Neteyam sat with his head in his hands, his shoulders shaking as silent tears splashed onto his lap. He couldnât bear to look up, his mind swirling with disbelief.
Kiri covered her mouth, trying to stifle the sobs that threatened to escape, her eyes brimming with tears that seemed endless.
Loâak stared at you, wide-eyed and frozen, the horror plain on his face. He looked at you like you were slipping away from him, already somewhere he couldnât reach.
Tuk clung to Jake, her small fingers gripping his side as she buried her face in his chest, already crying, her tiny shoulders shaking as if trying to hide from the truth.
And Neytiri⊠Neytiri was shattered. Her eyes, usually fierce and unwavering, were wide and lost. She clutched her hands into her hair, her breaths shallow and ragged, as if her very soul was unraveling, and all she could manage was a hoarse, whispered ache.
And then there was you.
Sitting there amidst the quiet, broken grief of your family, the weight of your fate pressed down with a suffocating finality. Just one year. One fragile, fleeting year left for you to see the world youâd only just begun to know, to feel time slipping through your fingers like water, faster than you could bear.
You stared down at your hands, clenched into tight fists against your knees, fingers digging in as if the grip could somehow anchor you, stop the trembling that had begun to take over your body.
It felt cruel, a punishment you hadnât earned, a twist of fate that mocked everything youâd fought so hard to find. Finallyâfinallyâyouâd found a place where you belonged. A family that welcomed you, loved you, filled your days with laughter, warmth, and meaning. Youâd found a home woven from the love in each shared meal, every quiet moment under the stars, each stolen glance exchanged in silent understanding. You had started to feel the freedom of letting yourself trust, letting yourself be held by a bond bigger than your own fears.
And just as youâd dared to believe you could have it forever, it was being torn from you, ripped away before you could even savor it fully. The dreams youâd cradled so carefully, that had only just begun to unfurl like the first fragile shoots of springâdreams of raising a family, of finding a mate to love, of growing old surrounded by the people who mattered mostâshattered, scattering like petals in the wind.
The injustice of it clawed at your heart. Youâd finally learned what it was to be part of something bigger than yourself, to belong, and now all that was slipping away. You imagined the empty days your family would face without you, the celebrations youâd miss, the life youâd never get to lead. They would continue, their lives unfolding in ways youâd never witness, every precious memory youâd never become a part of, every moment youâd never feel.
A single yearâan eternity in the span of your pain and an instant in the life youâd wanted. As the reality sank in, a silent, helpless rage joined the grief, because it was as if the world was reminding you that happiness, and love, were things you were never truly meant to keep.
ââââââââ
That night, left alone in the marui, the silence pressed down as you studied your hands. Your five fingers seemed to stand out even more, a reminder of the human part of you that had always felt just a little out of place. You traced each finger slowly, almost as if they held some secret answer, something that could make sense of the unfairness of it all.
A single year. Just as youâd found a family, people who loved you deeply, a place where you finally belongedâlife had pulled it all away. Youâd barely begun to experience the joy of truly fitting in, of learning what it felt like to be seen not as an outsider, but as one of their own. And now, that chance was being taken from you.
A thousand images rushed through your mind: the gentle way Jake always looked at you with pride, Neytiriâs touch when she smoothed your hair, Tukâs laughter as she clung to your side, Kiriâs understanding glances, Neteyamâs quiet reassurance, and even Loâakâs playful jabs. Youâd dreamed of a future here, of watching everyone grow, of having time to build a life among them. But now those dreams seemed as fragile as the thin air filling your lungs.
Your throat tightened, but you swallowed hard, refusing to let yourself break. You knew if you started crying, you might never stop. Instead, you clenched your fists, pressing them against your knees, willing the pain to stay hidden, knowing that if you showed how much this hurt, it would break their hearts too.
It was cruel, so deeply cruel, to feel like youâd finally found your place, only to have it slip from your grasp. And for the first time, alone in the marui under the weight of an unknown future, you let yourself think the question youâd been avoiding: Why me?
Suddenly, the flap of the marui shifted, and you glanced up, half-expecting it to be Jake or one of your siblings. Instead, Aoânung stood there, silhouetted in the dim evening light. He hesitated for a second, a flicker of uncertainty crossing his face before he stepped inside.
- Hey. he murmured, rubbing the back of his neck as he looked down at you, an awkward but familiar grin tugging at his mouth. - You alright? I was wondering where youâd disappeared to.
You held his gaze in silence for a moment, pulling your arms closer, hiding the slight tremor in your fingers. You knew he hadnât heard the news: there was no shadow of pity or sorrow in his expression. For now, he saw you just as he always hadâno different, unchanged. That alone felt like a comfort.
Aoânung tilted his head, narrowing his eyes with that feigned cockiness he liked to play at. - I noticed a distinct lack of spears to my throat today. he quipped, crossing his arms as he leaned against the wall. His gaze was curious but soft, the guarded hint of a smirk just barely hiding his concern.
Your smirk was faint, barely there, but real. - Did you miss me? you asked, lifting a brow, leaning into the familiar banter.
He chuckled, the sound low and warm, as he looked down at you. - Maybe I just missed the thrill of avoiding near-death every time I saw you. he teased. But his words were softer than usual, almost gentle. He shifted closer, settling on the floor across from you. - But⊠I donât know, you just seemed off. Didnât like it.
For a brief moment, you didnât know how to respond. You felt a bittersweet pang at how he was still oblivious, at the normalcy he brought just by being here, so unaffected. It made you ache with the thought of the inevitable moment heâd find out, when everything would change.
- Guess i just needed a break from terrorizing you. You spoke, managing a lightness to your tone that didn't reach your eyes.
He tilted his head, studying you, not fooled. - That doesnât sound like you. he murmured, eyes narrowing slightly. - Whatâs wrong, really?
You held his gaze, your chest tight. Part of you wanted to tell him everything, to let him share this weight, to feel his warmth and strength beside you. But you knew that once he knew, the familiar would be gone. The banter, the teasingâall of it would change.
Instead, you just shook your head, forcing a smile as you looked away, feeling the ache in your throat as you whispered, - Nothing, Aoânung. Itâs nothing.
Aoânung wasnât having it. He shifted closer, the concern in his gaze evident as he studied you. - Donât give me that, Lorre. I can see somethingâs eating at you. Iâve seen that look before, and Iâm not letting you brush me off.
Your shoulders sagged slightly, and you felt the words slipping out almost against your will. - Nami⊠sheâs gone. Your voice cracked, and your eyes darted away, the pain fresh. - I tried to save her. She was gone before I could even⊠You trailed off, swallowing hard to keep your voice steady.
Aoânungâs gaze softened, and he placed his hand on your arm, fingers warm against your skin, grounding you in the moment. You instinctively shifted, trying to pull back just enough to hide the hand with five fingers. But he held firm, his grip gentle but unyielding. He noticed your hesitation and, without a word, carefully took hold of your hand, lifting it into view. His thumb traced along your knuckles, the touch both comforting and reassuring.
- You donât have to hide this from me, Lorre. he murmured, his voice so soft that it made your chest ache. - I donât care what anyone else might think or say.
Heat rose in your cheeks, but there was something in his touch, in the way he looked at you, that made you feel like you didnât need to be ashamed. Like you could just be yourself, flaws and all. - Itâs just⊠everything feels so heavy lately. you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper. - I keep losing things that matter. Nami was⊠she was mine to protect. I promised Iâd take care of her, and now sheâs just⊠gone. The words tumbled out, broken and raw.
Aoânungâs fingers tightened around yours, grounding you. - Lorre, you gave her everything you could. You tried. Thatâs all anyone could ever ask. He paused, eyes intent, as though willing you to understand. - And besides, you donât have to go through this alone. Not anymore.
You felt the sting of tears welling up, but his steady grip anchored you, somehow making you feel lighter, as if he was holding some of that weight with you. - But itâs not fair, Aoânung. you whispered. - I just found a place where I feel like I belong, and I canât even keep the ones I care about safe. Itâs like every time I finally get close to something, itâs ripped away.
He nodded, his expression understanding, his hand never leaving yours. - I know what itâs like to feel that way. he said quietly. - But just because youâre hurting doesnât mean you have to bear it alone. He glanced down at where your hands were entwined, his fingers warm around yours, as if making a silent promise. - You donât have to go through this by yourself.
The sincerity in his voice broke through the wall youâd been holding up, and a single tear slipped down your cheek. Aoânung reached up, gently brushing it away with his thumb, his touch soft and warm. - Let me be here with you, Lorre. I donât care how hard it gets. Iâm not going anywhere.
You looked up at him, the tightness in your chest loosening a little, the sadness easing, just a bit. - Thank you, Aoânung. You murmured, your voice thick with emotion.
He gave a small smile, his gaze never wavering. He lifted your hand once more, pressing it to his chest as he added softly, - Youâre stuck with me, five fingers and all.

Pairing: Ao'nung x omaticayan! fem!reader
Summary: Fly
Warnings: None
Credits: For the whole plot idea I have for this fanfic I have to credit and thank @lorre-verie <3
The marui was bustling with its usual morning activity, the scent of cooked food still lingering in the air. Kiri was cleaning up the remains of breakfast, her movements efficient but distracted as she hummed quietly to herself. Tuk sat nearby, giggling as she strung beads together, completely absorbed in her little world.
Jake's gaze lingered on Lorre, watching the way her fingers trembled slightly as she pushed her plate away. She still looked pale â far too pale â from yesterday's headache. There was something fragile in the way she sat there, shoulders hunched just a little too tightly, trying to look stronger than she felt.
His brow furrowed, replaying her words in his mind, about wanting to feed the Ikrans. It wasnât the worst idea, but the timing â it was all wrong. She wasnât herself yetâhe could see it in the way she rubbed absently at her temples as if fighting the dull throb that was still there.
He swallowed hard, glancing at her again, this time more closely. Her eyes, though determined, were shadowed with exhaustion she couldnât hide. He wondered if she even noticed how drained she looked, or if she was simply too stubborn to care.
- Feed the Ikrans? he repeated slowly, voice heavy with hesitation, the words tasting bitter as he weighed them carefully. His eyes searched hers, silently begging for her to acknowledge her health first.
He felt the unease knot tighter in his gut, torn between letting her do what she wanted and pulling her back, keeping her safeâeven if it meant being the bad guy.
- Yes, Iâve been thinking about it for a while. To feed Paz, maybe even fly her for a bit. Itâs been some time since we last did that. Lorre tried to sound casual, but the look on Jakeâs face told her he wasnât fully convinced. He ran a hand through his hair, clearly debating with himself before nodding.
- Alright. But Neteyamâs going with you. His tone left no room for argument, the protective edge clear in his voice.
Neteyam, who had been standing off to the side, stepped forward, nodding. - Yes, sir. Iâll keep an eye on her.
Lorre cringed internally at the formality. Neteyam always played by the rules, but hearing him address their father like that just made her feel⊠watched. Like she couldnât even do something as simple as flying without someone there to monitor her.
- I donât need a babysitter, you know. Her voice was quiet, almost defeated, but she didnât meet Jakeâs eyes.
Jake, always perceptive, softened slightly, but his decision was final. - Just until youâre feeling better.
Lorre sighed but didnât argue. She knew there was no point. She wasnât about to win this one.
Once they left their Marui, Lorre and Neteyam walked side by side along the winding path toward the forest, where the Ikrans nestled.
The ikran were kept in a small forest grove just behind the village of Awa'atlu, where the dense canopy of trees provided a natural shelter from the harsh coastal winds. Large, twisting roots created natural perches for the ikran to rest upon, their vibrant scales standing out against the earthy tones of the forest.
Though far from their usual mountainous home, the ikran had adapted to their new surroundings. They feasted on reef fishâglider fin and feathertail fishâwhich were plentiful in the area. The Na'vi didnât eat these fish themselves, finding the taste of feathertail fish particularly foul, but the ikran had developed a liking for them.
The Breeze carried the scent of damp earth and lush foliage, but Lorreâs mind was distracted, her gaze flicking across faces of those they passed. She wasn't really sure who she was looking for â maybe Roâuk, though she brushed the thought away. Their plan they were talking about yesterday â to fly with the Ikrans felt distant.
- Looking for someone? Neteyam asked, a knowing smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
Lorre waved it off, shrugging lightly. - No one special.
He hummed, clearly unconvinced but not pushing the matter. As they rounded the bend, where the Ikrans rested, the sight that greeted them made both of them stop in their tracks.
Tsireya stood beside Paz, her fingers trailing gently over Lorreâs Ikran. Loâak, arms crossed and looking more amused than he had any right to, watched her like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Lorre narrowed her eyes, confusion and a flicker of protectiveness stirring in her chest. - What⊠exactly are they doing? she muttered, glancing sideways at Neteyam, who seemed equally bewildered.
- Loâak.. Neteyam sighed, shaking his head. - He thinks rules donât apply to him.
Loâakâs sharp ears picked up on the remark, and he turned with a lazy grin, all mischief and zero regret, but Lorre caught the way he gulped when he noticed the look on her face. - What? Itâs not like Paz is dangerous. Besides, he nodded toward Tsireya, - sheâs got a way with them.
Lorre stepped forward, hands on her hips, voice firm but more bemused than angry. - Sheâs my Ikran
At the sound of her voice, Tsireya startled, her hand pulling back as if Paz had suddenly burned her. - Oh! Iâm so sorry! she exclaimed, eyes wide with apology. - I justâsheâs so beautiful. I didnât mean to overstep. Her voice was soft, and the nervousness in her wide eyes made Lorreâs annoyence fade.
Loâak raised his hands in mock surrender, a wide grin still plastered on his face. - Relax, Lorre. No harm done. I figured you wouldnât mind.
- Mind? Lorre gave him a flat look, though there was no real malice in it. - Next time, ask before you let other Naâvi pet my Ikran.
Neteyam, standing slightly behind her, chuckled under his breath. - Heâs lucky Paz didnât bite his head off.
- Ikrans donât just bite Naâvi, Neteyam. Lorre muttered. - But if they did, Loâak would be the first to find out.
Tsireyaâs tentative smile returned, though there was still an edge of nervousness to it. - She really is stunning, Lorre. Iâve never seen an Ikran like her.
Lorre softened at the compliment, her stance relaxing. - Thanks. Sheâs special to me.
Loâak, sensing an opportunity, swooped in with a wide grin. - You and Pazâboth serious and protective. Itâs adorable.
Lorre shot him a look. - Adorable? Youâve been spending too much time around Tsireya.
Neteyam snorted at that, but Loâak was undeterred. - Nah, itâs true. Always on edge, always guarding something. Maybe Aonungâs rubbing off on you.
Lorre blinked, caught off guard by the sudden mention of Aonung. - What does he have to do with anything
Loâak leaned in slightly, his grin widening like a cat about to pounce. - Come on, Lorre. You havenât noticed? Aonungâs always lurking around whenever youâre nearby. I think heâs got a thing for you.
- Loâak! Lorreâs eyes widened, heat rising in her cheeks, though she quickly shot him a glare. - Youâre imagining things. He doesnât care about that, yet.
- Doesnât he? Loâak tilted his head innocently. - Seems to me he finds every excuse to be where you are.
- Loâakâs right. Neteyam chimed in, trying and failing to suppress a grin. - I mean, Aonungâs been trailing you for days. You canât be that oblivious.
Lorre shook her head, her cheeks still warm as she tried to compose herself. - You two are impossible. she muttered under her breath, but her tone lacked its usual bite.
Tsireya, having found her footing again, smiled gently. - He is usually around when you are, Lorre. I didn't even have to ask him to teach the sign language.
- Not you too, Tsireya Lorre groaned, rubbing her temples as if trying to ward off a headache she no longer had.
Loâakâs grin was downright wicked now. - You know what? Why donât we go get him? Iâm sure heâd love to join us for a little flight.
Lorre shot him a sharp look. - No. Absolutely not.
- Oh, come on! Loâak said, already moving toward the path with Tsireya trailing behind him, giggling. - Itâll be fun. And if Aonung comes along, maybe youâll show off a little.
Lorre crossed her arms, trying to maintain her composure, but there was no denying the flustered look in her eyes. Though she didn't really believe he liked her that way. - Iâm not showing off for anyone, least of all him.
Loâak called over his shoulder, already halfway down the path. - Sure, sure. Whatever you say.
- Donât worry, weâll bring him right to you! Tsireya added with a playful laugh, before the two of them disappeared around the trees, leaving Lorre and Neteyam standing by Paz.
Lorre let out a long sigh, turning to Neteyam. - Why do I put up with them?
Neteyam laughed, resting a hand on her shoulder. - Because deep down, you actually like it.
Lorre shot him a look of disbelief, but couldnât quite hold back a smile. - Donât you start.
Neteyam shrugged, still grinning as he mounted his own Ikran. - Itâs not starting anything if itâs already true.
As they stood by the Ikrans, ,Loâakâs voice echoed back through the trees, followed by the sound of footsteps. Lorre didnât have time to react before she saw himâAonung, striding up to them with that self-assured walk sheâd seen too many times before. Loâak and Tsireya trailed behind, looking far too pleased with themselves.
Aonung raised an eyebrow as he approached, his sharp gaze locking onto Lorre almost immediately. - Flying without me?
Lorre crossed her arms, trying to look unaffected. - I wasnât planning on an audience.
- Too bad. Aonung said with an easy grin. - Because Iâm here now.
Loâak laughed, clapping Aonung on the back. -I told you she was going to show off!
Lorre shot him a glare. - Iâm not showing off for anyone. Especially not forâ
- For me? Aonung cut in, his grin widening. - Good to know.
Lorre felt her heart rate pick up but quickly turned away, grabbing onto Pazâs saddle and climbing up without another word. - Letâs just fly. You coming or not?
Just as she began to settle into the rhythm, she heard the familiar sound of someone climbing up behind her. She glanced back, her breath catching for a moment as she spotted Aonung, already settled on Pazâs saddle, right behind her.
- You didnât ask she said flatly
Aonung grinned, leaning in slightly so she could hear him over the loud noises the Ikran was making, - You didnât exactly stop me.
Lorre rolled her eyes, but a small smile tugged at her lips. - Fine, just donât mess it up.
- Are we going or not? Neteyam called out once the Ikran started to get louder, eager to fly already
The moment Lorre nudged Paz to fly, the world shifted beneath them. With a powerful thrust of her wings, Paz soared into the sky, and the ground below faded away in a rush. The wind whipped through Lorreâs hair, exhilarating and freeing, a wave of adrenaline surging as they climbed higher.
As they flew together, the vastness of the sky enveloped them, and Lorre felt an unexpected warmth radiating from Aonung behind her. The rhythm of Pazâs wings felt alive beneath her, the pulse of the wind wrapping around them like a gentle embrace. Lorre couldnât help but steal glances back at Aonung, whose carefree laughter matched the joyful swoops and dives of the Ikran.
Lorre turned her head to where Aonung was laughing, his eyes sparkling with mischief as he watched his sister, Tsireya, soaring through the sky with Loâak. Tsireyaâs face radiated pure joy, although the rush of air swallowed her shouts, Lorre could see the thrill lighting up her features.
Below them, the lush green forest spread out like a vast tapestry, its vibrant leaves shimmering in the sunlight, a reminder of the home she missed so deeply. Each glance at the landscape tugged at her heart, a bittersweet blend of nostalgia and longing.
As Neteyam swooped around them, his Ikran spun gracefully in the air, letting out a spirited war cry that echoed in the wind. Lorre felt the exhilaration wash over her, the wind tousling her hair and the cool air brushing against her skin.
With Aonung beside her, happiness bubbled within her. She had never felt so alive, she was so used to the contact flying, and now from a long pause of not flying, the thrill of it made a temporary escape from the weight of her worries. In this moment, everything felt right.
But as they glided higher, a familiar ache crept into her heart, reminding her of the shadows that trailed her. She missed the forestâthe sacred whispers of Eywa, the gentle rustle of leaves, and the warmth of the trees that had sheltered her since childhood.
Here in the sky, surrounded by laughter and light, she felt a pang of loneliness wash over her, contrasting sharply with the joy around her. It was as if she were living in two worlds, one filled with happiness and the other weighed down by unspoken fears and doubts
In a moment of bliss, Lorre leaned against Aonungâs chest, seeking comfort in his solid presence. She didnât even realize she had done it until she caught him making a playful face at her, his brows raised in mock surprise.
Flushing, she quickly apologized, her voice barely rising above the rush of wind. - Sorry, I didnât mean to lean on you.
Aonung shrugged, a sly smile tugging at his lips. - Itâs okay. I donât mind he replied, his voice teasing yet warm. Relieved, she nestled back against him, savoring the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath her. The simple comfort of his presence felt grounding.
She cherished this moment, this sense of belonging, even as the shadows of her heart threatened to break through. Here, high above the world, she felt both the exhilaration of freedom and the weight of her unspoken fears.
ââââââââ
When they landed, night had already fallen, and the stars dotted the sky like scattered jewels.
Glancing around, Lorre spotted Kiri emerging from the water, her Ilu vanishing beneath the surface. She waved her over. - Kiri, over here!
Kiri smiled and came over quickly. - How was the flight?
Before Lorre could respond, Tsireya spoke up, her voice sounding silent as she got off the Ikran with Loâakâs help. - I was thinking⊠maybe we could visit the soul tree tomorrow.
- Really? Kiri asked, her expression brightening slightly. - Iâve missed that. Itâs been too long since I connected with Eywa.
- That sounds nice. Lorre added, a calm smile crossing her face. - Itâll be good to go together.
Loâak wandered over after settling his Ikran. - Iâm in! he said with a tired smile, placing his hands on Tsireyaâs shoulders
Neteyam walked over beside them a moment later, watching the group before nodding, already starting to head out to their familyâs Marui.
- Goodnight, Paz. she whispered softly. The Ikran nuzzled her briefly when Lorre disconnected from Paz, and the Ikran gave a sharp screech, flapping her wings before flying back to join the others. Neteyamâs and Loâakâs Ikrans followed her, their powerful wings stirring the air before they disappeared into the darkness.
As they began walking back to the village, Lorre felt Aonungâs presence beside her. He stayed quiet, but she could feel his gaze on her as they walked. The warmth of his arm brushed against hers, a subtle closeness that she didnât pull away from.
