I understand that people are losing their marbles over the canon localization names and asking why they didn't use the "perfectly good" fan-translation names but there is always some legal nonsense shitshow that occurs when a piece of media tries to use fan content in their work so if it means character have funny haha name as price for not going through the potential of Creative Legality Fuckyou Laws I think that is fine

Tumblr media
Living in the country for over thirty years, the Jeons were known to be excruciatingly slow and cautious drivers. The town was tiny, roads were narrow, and no one was ever in a rush to get anywhere apart from maybe the farmers market.
Once when Jungkook first got his license he took one hand off the steering wheel and his mother almost had a heart attack, saying it was “reckless of him to put them in danger”. It was from that moment forward that Jungkook always made sure to drive at 10 and 2 or 9 and 3 when his mother was in the car. His father on the other hand didn’t care what he did as long as he didn’t go above 30 mph.
Jungkook was counting his lucky stars when he finally got his own car and the chance to move to the city where he could drive how he damn well pleased–responsibly of course. He had recently finished his Master’s studies and was offered a job as an economist in a major medical corporation. The only catch was that he’d have to relocate to Seoul which ended up being more than fine with him.
His parents moaned and groaned that he wasn’t sticking around but his mind was made up. He moved out of his parent’s tiny town one late June and headed to the city where life moved to a whole new beat.
Ten years later, Jungkook finds himself gripping the steering wheel with two sweaty hands again. Kudos to his parents who have been telling him which way to turn and how fast or slow to go for the past fifteen minutes. He honestly should have picked a brunch spot closer to home to avoid all the madness. Walking would have done them good.
“I’ll never get used to how you drive down here,” Mrs. Jeon grumbles from the back seat. “All these sharp turns and six lanes of traffic going 50-plus miles an hour. It’s a wonder you haven’t all gotten in an accident yet. It’s like I always say, the slower the better. You city folks just don’t get it.”
Jungkook peers in his rearview mirror before signaling to switch lanes. “We can’t afford to go too slow out here Mom. This is a highway and dropping down in speed will cause a safety hazard just as bad, if not worse. Environments are different out here than in the woods.”
As Jungkook merges to the right, Mr. Jeon watches the surrounding cars from the back seat window. “Ah son, son, son!” He hollers and reaches for the ceiling handle.
“What? What happened?” Jungkook asks with panic. He flickers his eyes to the mirror again to spot his father's distress.
Mr. Jeon slowly releases the handle and lets out a lengthy sigh. “It's okay now, we’re good. You did good son. You moved over with so little space I thought you were going to hit the car now behind us."
"I told you it's a mad house out here!" Mrs. Jeon adds, tone thick. Jungkook puts his eyes back on the road in front of him and does his best to ignore the irritation bubbling within him.
"I know what I'm doing," he says. "I've lived here for ten years so can you guys please trust me? And stop with the driving advice and yelling every time I do something."
"We're just trying to help Kookie."
"Well, you're not alright?" The snap in his voice has Jungkook's parents sulking back in their seats in silence. "I want us to get to the restaurant safely and I can't do that when you're both shouting at me! So please just let me do the driving. Thank you."
God, if one more person calls him Kookie in that condescending tone he's going to lose it! Kookie was his childhood nickname but for some reason, it stuck to him like glue until he was friggin' 22 years old. He absolutely hates it and the only person remotely allowed to call him by it is his wife because she makes anything sound like honey to his ears.
Tumblr media
The next five minutes are nothing but awkward silence and the sound of tires running on hard cement. Jungkook checks his phone—there's still a good ten minutes left according to the GPS. He moves to turn the radio on to break the eeriness of the drive when an incoming call pops on his car screen.
"Who's that? Who's calling?" Mr. Jeon pipes up.
"It's __." Jungkook hits the answer button. "Hey honey! You're on speaker." He smiles a big, wide grin that says nothing less than he misses you.
"Hi! I'm on my lunch break and thought I'd give you guys a call. I'm stopping at the grocery store tonight, after work. Anything you need?"
“Some booze would be nice!” Mr. Jeon echos and looks at his wife who merely shakes her head. He hasn’t had a drink in twenty years due to his high blood pressure, yet he’s still making the same damn jokes. “Got any Soju? Or maybe Bokbunja?” He chuckles at Mrs. Jeon’s sour face.
Jungkook pays his dad no mind and replies to you. “Uhm….we're low on milk again. I drank the last one yesterday.”
"You went through all those gallon jugs in a week?!" You'd think you'd be used to the amount of dairy your husband packs away but every time, it shocks you as much as the first. You married a milk-lovin’ machine.
Jungkook chuckles. "I'm sorry. I can get them for you if you want. We're on our way to get brunch, then hitting the bookstore for Dad, and after we'll swoop back home. I can pick it up along the way.”
“No need, I’m already going out later so I’ll get it. Anything else?”
“There’s nothing else I can think of. How’s work going?” He’s hoping it’s not hectic given the fact that last week was an absolute sandstorm. He distinctively remembers you coming home with nothing more than tired feet and dark circles under your eyes. He drew you a bath that night.
“Eh, so-so. I have a meeting with my boss later but besides that, it’s the usual. I wish I could have come to brunch with you guys. I feel bad I’m missing it.” Well, you do and you don’t. If Jungkook was planning on talking to his mom about the happenings of last night you wanted to be around for support but it was also a matter that should be between a mother and her son.
“Us too, but we’ll see you ton–shit!” Jungkook slams on the break when he sees he’s about to crash into a black SUV. Everyone’s seatbelts lock at the sudden jerk. “Sorry, sorry!” He checks the mirror to find his parents clinging to their seatbelts.
“Are you guys okay?! Jungkook?!”
He scans all around him to find rows and rows of cars all trying to merge into each other’s lanes. Some are coming from the exit nearby whereas others are trying to squeeze through people in hopes to get ahead.
Dammit, Jungook cruses to himself.
“Yeah, we’re good honey. Everything’s okay but we’ve hit a traffic jam. I’m not sure why since it’s literally 11:40 a.m on a Wednesday but looks like we’re going to be stuck here for a bit.”
“We’d never have this problem at home.” Jungkook hears his mother mumbling under her breath to which his father replies with a nodding of his head. “If it weren’t for all this nonsense we’d be there by now.”
“Absolutely. We’d be there fifteen minutes ago,” his father adds with his hands in the air. “Isn’t there some kind of way you can get around this son, like a shortcut?”
Ah yes, shortcuts on the highway. Why didn’t he think of that? Let him just push the button that says flight mode and–no! Having enough, Jungkook holds his foot on the break and twists his body around to face his parents.
“Alright listen to me right now. This is not Tiny Town where there are a million dirt roads that pop from anywhere and all seem to lead to one other. Everyone drives at least seventy out here and that’s just the way it is because this..." He gestures outside the windshield. "This is what happens! We all get stuck in this congested funnel! But if you two can think of a way to get out of here that doesn’t involve attempting to bulldoze other cars, I’m all ears. Until then we’re going to sit here and talk about the weather because there's nothing else we can do!"
Jungkook looks back and forth between his parents. Mrs. Jeon simply stares outside her window while his dad gives a slow nod in understanding.
"Is it really that bad?"
Jungkook relaxes his body back to face the front when he hears your voice. "Yeah, it's pretty bad __." He lets out a long, exasperated sigh. This is going to be a very long day.
Tumblr media
"Nice out today. Mind if I roll down the window?" The traffic hasn't got any better and it was starting to get stuffy in the car. Mr. Jeon desperately needed some fresh air in his face.
"Mhm yeah, go ahead."
"How about some music? Find out what's on the radio will you." He sticks his arm out the window, letting the gentle breeze hit his skin. When the first song blares through the speakers, Jungkook's mother breaks her deafening silence.
"Dear god! What music is this?"
Mr. Jeon immediately perks up. "It's PSY! Turn it up! Turn it up, boy!" Jungkook appeases his father's wishes and turns the knob a few more notches. "Oppa Gangnam Style! Eae eae eae e, sexy lady!"
Hearing his dad singing at the top of his lungs has Jungkook rubbing the side of his head. It's not that he sounded bad but he was singing so loud that everyone around them started pointing, laughing, or rolling up their own windows. "Dad, people are going to get annoyed. Take it down a little."
Deeply immersed in the song, Mr. Jeon continues singing regardless of his son's request. "Op, op, op, op, oppa Gangnam Style!" He starts rocking in his seat which causes a few middle schoolers in the car next to them to pop out their phones.
"Dad!" Jungkook hollers when he notices the kids taking pictures. If doesn't put an end to this now, his father's face is going to be trending all over the internet with god knows what filter.
"Op, op, op, op, on on on on!"
"Dad stop!" He tries again, this time turning the music down. Mrs. Jeon attempts to calm her husband down too, placing a hand on one of his arms but it doesn't take much for it to be ripped out of her grasp. Mr. Jeon ends up nearly whacking his wife in the face due to all his energetic dancing.
"Erotic sexy lady! Oppa Gangnam Sty–hey! Song wasn't done yet!" Jungkook's dad never looked so offended in his life. If he had adjusted his gaze just a few inches to the left he'd see the group of kids, the ones taking photos earlier, giggling to one another. But he was too pissed at his son for crashing his party that it went to the wayside.
"Honey, you were causing a disturbance," Mrs. Jeon says.
"A disturbance? In this traffic jam, I'm the disturbance?" He refuses to believe he's the annoyance when they've been in the middle of a highway, moving at 5 mph for the last hour. PSY has recently become his favorite singer and not enjoying himself would have been an absolute tragedy in his opinion. "It's all of you who should be thanking me for offering some shred of entertainment at times like these."
"The entire population of South Korea is going to be thanking you then." Jungkook creeps forward as soon as the car in front of him moves up a ways. Finally moving again, he hums.
"Hey!" An abrupt voice calls from a slight distance. Two teenage boys pull up in a Jaguar, greasy grins on their faces. "Great singing Grandpa! Really know how to move!" The one in the passenger seat flashes his phone playing a video of Jungkook's dad online.
"Wha–how–What?! You delete that right now!" Mr. Jeon is stunned, tripping over his words at the shock of himself actually being the center of the internet. The video is unexpectedly clear.
"Just ignore them, Dad." Jungkook rolls up all the windows in the car and inches up the best he can to get the teenagers out of direct sight.
"But-but how did they do that so fast? It hasn't even been five minutes yet!"
"It only takes seconds, honey," Mrs. Jeon sighs, realizing her husband has become famous over a re-rendition of a PSY song. Of all things, it had to be that.
Tumblr media
"I'm starving."
"Me too."
Jungkook glances at the time–2:40p.m. It's now been three hours of sitting in traffic and they've only moved about ten miles. What on earth is congesting the highway this much?
"Maybe we should take one of these exits." His dad scrolls through the map on his phone. "Says there are a few restaurants down exit 6A."
Jungkook considers the idea. He wants to get off the highway, yes, but so does everyone else. The exit his dad is talking about is off the far right lane which means he's going to need to shove in front of everyone's way.
"You sure it's a good place? Wherever it is you're looking?" The reason why he asks is that his dad is notorious for leading them into the most ruin down places. The last time he was in charge of directions, they ended up in front of an abandoned pizza shop.
Mrs. Jeon takes the phone from her husband's hand and swipes through the photos of a quaint restaurant. "It's not bad," she concludes. "And if it means we can get out of this mess, then I'm with your father on this one."
Two against one. Jungkook turns his signal on and waits for someone to let him over. He earns a few honks when he manages to squeeze his nose over but does his best to give an apologetic wave.
After a few more lane changes he gets in the exit lane. He isn't the only one planning to take exit 6B though, being that there are at least twenty other cars waiting in line.
"Maybe we were better off back where we were. All these people want to get off the same place. If we keep going there's bound to be another exit with far less traffic."
Really? Jungkook feels himself ticking again. After all that shoving to get over here and this is what he gets? No, he's not moving back over. They're going to wait in this stupid lane until it gets them to where they originally agreed.
"We just got here and we're not moving back anywhere. This lane should clear up in less time than it would take to go back on the main highway," Jungkook says. "Also, I probably don't need to clarify this but, we're not going to make it to that bookstore you wanted, Dad."
"It's fine, son. We'll go another day."
Which means tomorrow, Jungkook half grumbles to himself. His parents are here for another day after all and he knows his father well enough to know that "another day" really means the closest day possible.
Tumblr media
Despite its size, the restaurant his parents choose is charming with its floor-to-ceiling wood paneling and giant, bay windows. The odd hanging plant is spread throughout the open dining space as well, perfectly setting the mood of serenity.
The restaurant only seems to hold about a dozen people inside, however. So thinking it is best to avoid sitting in an overly crowded space, Jungkook asks for one of the tables outside.
“Oh now this is lovely,” his mother praises, pulling her chair up to the table. Jungkook can’t describe how relieved he is to finally hear something positive after hours of nonstop grumbling.
Mr. Jeon takes a seat next to his wife and across from his son. “I just saw someone get Samgyeopsal and it was huge! Let’s get that to share.”
His enthusiasm is short-lived when the scrunched-up face from his wife says she's not a fan. “That's too much food! We still have to be hungry for dinner so we can eat with __."
"Mom's right," Jungkook agrees reluctantly. "__'s stopping at the grocery store after work so we can prep for dinner tonight. I know traffic slowed us down so we're eating at a weird time but it's better we go with something light."
"Oh well, we can always take some to go! Surely __ will enjoy some beautifully grilled pork!" Jungkook's father is adamant. He wants nothing more than a heavy meal after being stuck in the car all morning.
"__ doesn't like pork Dad. And we all know as soon as we get a whiff of it cooking there's not going to be any leftovers."
"Alright, alright," his dad concedes. "I guess I'll try their bibimbap. What are you having hon?"
Jungkook checks his phone messages while his parents make small talk over the menu. You texted him earlier to see how traffic was holding up and he only able to get back to you minutes ago.
Wifey ❤️ : So I'm guessing you haven't talked to your mom yet?
Jungkook: No, haven't brought it up. She seems fine though with the way she's been acting. It doesn't take much for her to go back to her usual self
Wifey ❤️: Her usual self being...?
Jungkook: You know, really particular.
Wifey ❤️: So she's complaining again. I'm sorry 😞
Jungkook: When I was talking with her on the phone before we left, she was much more careful about what she was saying. I expected it to still be that way now. Must have been a mood.
Wifey ❤️: Sounds like she wasn't sure how you'd be reacting after what happened last night. Maybe she's just reverting to back what she's used to because she's unsure what else to do or say. I'd still try finding a way to talk to her. Does it seem tense?
Jungkook: Yeah, you have a point. But Mom's also had a good way of sweeping things under the rug. It's not tense but it's just uncomfortably normal?
Wifey ❤️: Hmm, strange. And your dad's fine?
Jungkook: Honey...have you been on any social media in the last half hour?
Wifey ❤️: No, why?
Jungkook: Might wanna check. We had a little incident while in traffic. I'm still in shock honestly 😅
Jungkook waits for you to find the video of his dad. He already had the guys blowing up his phone from it so he's surprised none of them at least forwarded it to you.
Wifey ❤️: oh my god! Jungkook what happened?! 😂 I hope you're prepared for your students to be all over this
Jungkook: oh shit, that didn't even cross my mind 😩 also it's not funny honey! Listening to my dad singing eae e sexy lady was traumatizing enough. Now I have to see and hear it every time I pop open my phone or some teen punks show it to me!
Wifey ❤️: Aw Kookie, they're just being kids...try not to overthink. And you know those videos come and go. Your dad will be at the bottom of the chain by next week. Until then keep him away from PSY 😅 But I'm sorry you're having a day, I love you 🥺
Jungkook: I MISS YOU SO MUCH 😭
Wifey ❤️: [sent an image]
Fuck! Jungkook chokes on his spit when he sees a blurry close up of your cleavage. Thankfully his parents are still too occupied by the menu that they didn't notice.
Jungkook: sexy af but this isn't the time to be sexting me baby!
He nearly saves the photo if it weren't for the fact that he already had an album dedicated to very sensual *ahem erotic* photos of you. You had let him take them himself —best motherfuckin' birthday ever.
Wifey ❤️: oh adhjjhj, sorry!! That was an accident. I'm such a klutz. This is what I meant... [sent an image]
"What's going on over there?" Jungkook merely glimpses at the new image before whipping his head up, hearing his mother's, sharp tone.
"It's just __. She's asking about groceries again."
With slightly narrowed eyes, Mrs. Jeon continues. "We're about to order if you're ready."
Dammit. He'll have to reply to you later. Jungkook swiftly pockets the phone. "Okay yeah I'm good to go."
Tumblr media
"This is delicious," Mr. Jeon says, patting his mouth with a napkin. "Best bibimbap I've had in a long time."
"That's great Dad." Jungkook stirs his noodles.
"Ah, where's the restroom around here?" He asks the waitress as she walks by. She tells him it's in the restaurant, all the way to the back. Mr. Jeon pushes his chair from the table and excuses himself. "All that broth has me needing to go."
"Yes yes, just go." Why his father needed to explain himself every time he needed to use the restroom is beyond him. Jungkook peers at his mother, taking her time eating her own bowl of noodles–they ended up ordering the same thing. "How is it?" he asks.
"It's good."
"Not too spicy?"
"No, it's mild."
Jungkook gathers more noodles on his chopstick. He freezes halfway when he sees his mother eyeing him intensely. "Everything okay?"
Mrs. Jeon folds her hands in her lap. "It's occurred to me that we still have an elephant in the room. I was hoping we'd be able to talk about it while your father browsed the bookstore. But plans changed."
And here he thought his mother had been playing down last night when really she was biding her time. "You know Dad's gonna be back in like ten minutes right?"
Mrs. Jeon nods. "I know it's not the most convenient of times or places, but I'm afraid if we delay it won't get discussed."
"Okay." Jungkook sets his chopsticks down. "Well...where do you want to start?"
"An apology would be nice." Her voice is mellow but the words are a clear demand rather than an offer. Of course, he wants to apologize to her for all the things he accused her of last night. But he wasn't expecting her to be this forward with it, especially since she was guilty of plenty herself. "I'm waiting Kookie," she coos, taking a sip of water.
Jungkook knits his eyebrows in response, unsure of what he's hearing. His mother looks far too relaxed about this whole thing. He decides to give her the benefit of the doubt. "You're right," he starts. "I'm sorry for what I said last night. I shouldn't have spoken that way and I'm sorry for making you leave. I think you and Dad showing up all a sudden threw me off and I reacted poorly."
Mrs. Jeon cracks a tight smile and reaches for her son's hand. "Thank you, Jungkook. I accept your apology." She gives his hand a squeeze before moving to pick up her chopsticks. "Now that we got that settled let's talk about the reunion. I'm thinking about talking to–"
What....the fuck? His mom did not just glide over this whole issue. She did not just put everything on him. And she did not just bring up that damn reunion again, which he's made very clear he wants nothing a part of. "Is that all you wanted? For me to make my amends with you?"
"What else would there be Kookie?" She scoffs, eyes wide.
"Goddamn it." He struggles to maintain a hushed voice. "Can you please stop calling me that? And what the hell do you mean 'what else would there be'? I'm not trying to put the blame on you but there's a good amount you should be saying to me too."
"What things are you referring to? Don't tell me this is about the reunion again. Look, whatever it is that I said was because I just want to see you more. And no more swearing. You know I don't like that kind of language."
"How can you be like this?" Jungkook can't stop himself. He figured his mom and he would have a better, heart-to-heart than this. It makes his skin crawl that his mother continues to play the victim. "It's genuinely shocking me how....do you even love me?"
Mrs. Jeon pauses at that. "Of course, I love you Jungkook. Why–why would you ask that?" She blinks back the slightest hint of tears forming along the edge of her eyes. Never in a million years did she think her son would doubt something this crucial.
"I feel like–"
"Feel what? What is it?"
"I feel like you care more about what I can do for you than you do me, as your son." Jungkook sniffs. This is a lot harder for him to say than he imagined. "There's been so many times that you've–"
"Don't say this honey! I care about you very much!" She reaches for his hand again but he yanks it away. "What are you trying to tell me?" His mother waits for him to form the rest of the sentence.
Jungkook hesitates to look at her straight on because behind what appears to be concerned eyes is disbelief. She isn't taking any of this seriously. It's written all over her face, tone, and all the way down to the way she's focusing on an answer rather than his inability to comfortably talk to her.
"What have I done so many times?"
"Honestly at this point, what haven't you done?" With an icy glare, Jungkook can't hold himself back anymore. The pot that's been brewing, deep in the darkest parts of him is finally overflowing and it's not going to be pretty to behold. "Do you realize how many times you chose your job, your status, and even your friends over me? And you make Dad go along with literally anything! Is it so horrible for someone to say no to you?!"
The couple next to them shoot uncomfortable looks his way, whispering to each other. Jungkook ignores it and starts counting with his fingers.
"Never once have you ever taken responsibility for showing up uninvited, nagging me about this that, and the other thing, making backhanded comments about my life choice, and most of all pretending our relationship is peachy fine. Well, I'm sorry mom, I'm thirty-four years old and I don't need to live by your rules! Our relationship is barely hanging by a thread and being quite real, it's __ and Dad who are the ones clinging to that thread, making sure it doesn't completely snap."
Mrs. Jeon opens her mouth to interject but Jungkook doesn't allow it to happen. It's not exactly intentional that he's pouring out so much in the middle of people's lunch. Still, he's been shoved over a steep cliff, head first.
"I'm sorry mom, I don't know how many times I need to say it. I don't enjoy any bit of this. It's just been a long stretch of–"
"That's enough! I don't want to hear any more." Mrs. Jeon immediately grabs her purse and twists her neck every which way. "Where's your father? I want to leave."
"Mom I'm trying to talk to you! Why won't you let me talk?"
His mother doesn't reply. She doesn't look at him. It's the silent treatment, Jungkook concludes–it's fucking irritating. "I'm not trying to be hurtful," he says, forcing himself to calm down. "Mom look at me."
She doesn't move.
It only takes seconds for their waitress to near her way up to the table with anxious steps. "I'm sorry to be doing this but unfortunately, we've received a few complaints of a disturbance out here." The young girl clasps her hands. "To ensure all our guests are comfortable we're going to need to ask you to take your conversation elsewhere. I'm really sorry."
Fuck. How embarrassing. Jungkook clears his throat and stands up from his seat. "We understand and are genuinely sorry for the commotion. We'll pay at the front and be on our way. Thank you for waiting our table."
The young girl gives a nervous smile and retreats inside the restaurant. Jungkook makes a note to give her a generous tip.
"Hey, what's going on out here?" Mr. Jeon rushes over, hair blowing over due to the breeze. "I heard there was some inconsiderate party out here airing out their dirty laundry for all to see. I tell you, people these days don't know what privacy means anymore!" He shakes his head and takes a seat.
"Get up Dad we're leaving."
"But I'm not done my–––oh shit." Mr. Jeon clenches his teeth. "You two?"
Mrs. Jeon gets up from her chair, still wordless, and walks towards the parking lot. "I'll get this Dad." Jungkook stops his father from pulling out his wallet. "It is best if you go try to ease Mom. I don't think she'll be talking to me for a while."
Mr. Jeon puts a hand on his son's shoulder. It's his way of offering comfort. "You're mother has made things difficult for you, Jungkook. I'll try getting through to her. In the meantime don't let this eat you up. It's been a long time coming."
Tumblr media
Jungkook doesn't get home until quarter past six. The drive home was better than the drive to the restaurant, but hitting the notorious five o'clock traffic slowed them down once more. He also had to drop his parents at their hotel which was no easy task. His mother barely gave him a glance before hopping out of the car. The amount of guilt settling in his gut isn't going away any time soon.
"Hey." Jungkook finds you searching through the kitchen cupboard. "I hope you're okay with spice tonight! I got this really awesome–oh baby what's wrong?" You stop what you're doing when you see your husband come up behind you with sunken eyes. He wraps his larger arms around you, desperately needing your scent.
"I blew it," he croaks. "She's so mad at me."
"I'm sorry Jungkook. I'm sorry I couldn't be there." You turn in his arms to pull him into a full embrace. His nose tickles the side of your neck but you don't laugh. "You wanna tell me?"
Jungkook takes your hand and sits you both on the couch in the living room. "The morning started out rough with three hours of traffic and the two of them in the back seat, telling me where and how I should drive. Then my dad got unexpectedly famous off a PSY song. We finally got to some restaurant about half an hour west of here before 3pm. Everything was going okay until dad went to the bathroom."
"Okay," you say, scooting closer beside him. You rub small circles on his upper back as he leans forward on his spread-apart knees. "What happened?"
"Mom suggested we talk about last night so I said sure." You watch as Jungkook fiddles with his hands. "But she didn't actually care about a conversation or what I had to say. All she wanted, all she expected, was for me to apologize to her so we'd be okay again. It all came out after that and I feel so horrible about it. We ended up getting kicked out of the restaurant too."
"Jungkook..."
"I tried __. I wanted to be patient and to be a good son but she can't even look at me right now." He falls back on the couch, staring at the blank wall in front. "Dad's convinced it was bound to happen."
"You are a good son, Jungkook." You comb a few strands of his soft, ebony hair. He closes his eyes as you do. "You're mom's the one who needs to readjust her view."
"I never thought I'd yell at my mom about all that stuff. And certainly not in public where everyone is trying to have a pleasant lunch. I'm a grown-ass adult and I should have had better control of myself."
You settle into his inner shoulder, laying a hand on his chest. "Even grown adults have limits and your mom's far surpassed those limits. Don't blame yourself for this."
"Dad said the same thing."
"Well, that's two against one."
Jungkook smiles. Two against one, that's where he got that from. Not that you're the first person to use the phrase but he never used it as regularly until you moved in together.
"I missed you so much today. I don't deserve you."
You cock your head up as quick as the words fly from his mouth. "Don't you dare say things like that! You're a good man despite how awful your mother treats you." You lean your face near his, eyes wandering deep into his dark brown ones. "If you're not otherwise too tired, I'm going to show you how much I love you."
Jungkook opens his lids at that–apparently not too tired. You smirk and get off the couch.
Tumblr media
"Here?" His classic doe-eyes peer down at your kneeled position. Seeing you settle this perfectly between his muscular thighs triggers an intense blood rush that goes straight to his dick. Jungkook didn't think he was going to get horny tonight but here he was with his half-harden length in your hands in the middle of the living room.
"Mhm." You position yourself just enough for him to have a clear view of your tits. You had taken both your shirt and bra off before starting. You know how your husband likes it. "That okay with you?"
Jungkook groans when you grip his cock harder, gliding it from the base to the tip in repeated motions. "Fuck yeah. It's more than okay." You giggle at how quickly your husband gets in the mood. He thinks you're the bitch in the bedroom? You quicken your movements.
"Oh shit this feels so good." He grips the couch cushion, keeping his focus on you. "Need that gorgeous mouth wrapped around me baby, please. Shit–"
You honor your husband's requests and trace your tongue from the base of his cock all the way up to his tip. Once there, you suck lightly before taking him in whole.
"That's it. Take my cock, fuck." Jungkook goes on to praise you as you bottom out. You gag a little at first being that you haven't done this in what....weeks? Damn. Whatever happened to the days when you'd literally go down on each other every day?
"We need to get you reacquainted with my cock honey," he teases, bucking his hips forward to push himself further into your mouth. "All these weeks without my cock in your mouth has you gagging all over me. Been it's been too long hasn't it?"
"Mm," is the only thing you reply with, the weight of his thick length dragging back and forth on your tongue. By now your pussy is pulsating like crazy and you're tempted to just get up and fuck yourself on him. But tonight was about your husband–you're going to make sure of it. And Jungkook loves nothing more than getting head with your bare tits in full view, obviously.
A few sucks later and Jungkook starts fucking himself into your mouth. They began as soft, needy bucks of his hips but now they're rough, full-force thrusts. His length shoves to the back of your throat and you moan desperately around him. "Did you miss my cock baby? I bet you did. My sexy wife....you're mine and you're gonna make me come, aren't you? Fuck yeah, you are."
Your eyes water as you continue to take him, hallowing your cheeks the best you can. Jungkook has his eyes screwed shut and sweat dripping from his forehead. Your panties are so fucking soaked right now and your nipples are defiantly hard from sheer arsousal.
"God I'm so close baby. You're mouth is---fuck I don't even have the words. It's fucking magic! And your tits are so hot from this angle. Kinda reminds me of what you sent to me earlier. Can I come on them? I'm so close." Jungkook takes your broken moans as a yes and starts ramming into you two more times before pullout and covering your breasts with warm liquid. "Fuck fuck fuck," he grunts, spilling himself on you.
What a mess. You look down at yourself. What a motherfuckin' mess and you love it. Jungkook pulls you into a passionate kiss, tongue rolling with yours in heavenly harmony. "Thank you for this," he says between kisses. "I'll help you wash up, I promise."
"Mm Jungkook," you pant. "I think I need you inside me."
Hey, he got his dick sucked and he creamed your tits–it's mama's turn now, or excuse you–wifey.

okay i wanna talk about fourlear now that ive named it. i dont think i have...maybe briefly
fourlear is the name of the biggest holiday on overmorrow. i explained alot of this in the solaria explaining post that im making but i think ill just remove that all and link this post in that..anyway
lots of text below so im putting it under a cut!!!
it starts on june 18, meant to end on the longest day of the year, june 21! this means that the second day of fourlear is on my birthday :3 this was completely unintentional and im still really happy about how that turned out lol
i dont feel like explaining the 4 angel dragons things for the thousandth time, theyll get a more in depth explanation in the solaria post, anyway, each day is dedicated to one of the dragons
all of fourlear is dedicated to being together, throughout all the days. sometimes most of the town or something comes together and people will camp to celebrate all four days together, but sometimes its just family at home. though on the last day is the day most people come out together to where their town is celebrating fourlear, usually in an open big field where people can settle down and camp for the first 3 days
i dont think i ever wrote dwon which day was on what, so im just gonna make it up here/try to remember the best i can lmao just to be clear im imagining all these activities they do on each day is in the place where people gather, like the field i mentioned!! but some things are also celebrated at home with family as well. i already said that too but thats okay. LOL
the first day is dedicated to art/creativity, which i remember being a bit stuck on. theres probbly really great ideas for this right under my nose that im not thinking of.. of course theres lots of..art making and sharing lol. aaalll forms of art
the second day i think was nature, which of course was dedicated to caring for their earth and sharing lots of food, i imagine people will set up temporary little shops where people gather most and people will sell plants and stuff too. obviously overmorrow isnt comleteply free from pollution, so this day focuses on that alot too. i think overmorrow's pollution is pretty under control though!!
the third day is dedicated to love, where people give gifts to their loved ones like christmas, and just spend time together, or meet new people if theyre not at home and camping for fourlear
the fourth day is dedicated to magic, and right where mainly everythign takes place where everyone was gathered up for the first 3 days. where everyone basically just comes together, celebrating their pure angel/the dragons, how much they love their planet and their loved ones. theres alot more to show off here, where the other days were more chill and stuff if that makes sense? lots of big eventful shows and music and stuff to look at and things. and alot of magic spell shows ofc lol, theres also fireworks at night and people stay up all throughout the night on the fourth day partying and making friends and eating and loving eachother
i always imagined, you can probabaly gues, that fourlear is HUGE to all of overmorrow. its celebrated worldwide, and i imagine its like christmas where people dont stop talking about it the moment its comiing up lmao "WHY ARE YOU PLAYING FOURLEAR MUSIC NOW?!?!?! ITS STILL MAY!!" i have no idea what fourlear music would sound like but i like this thought alot
i havent reallyl thoght of hhow people decorate for it and stuff. i imagine theres a lot of green/pink/blue/purple/white like the overmorrow flag in it
i think i need to flesh it out a bit more, especially on what activities people get up to in each day, but thats the basic idea haha i really want to draw my ocs celebrating fourlear someday. i might try to do that soon?yeeeeees. it owuld make more sense to draw fourlear art DURING fourlear but im too impatient for that..maybe..

Nobody's Business
Rick Flag & Harley Quinn, past Rick Flag x June Moone
For @the-slumberparty's Bingo challenge! Bingo square: Monster Fucking
Warnings: 18+, language, angst
Word Count: 1k
A/N: Is this a loose interpretation of the prompt 'monster fucking'? Perhaps! Was it fun to write anyway? You betcha! I love me a little Rick & Harley moment. No one can take that from me lmao. Also, shout-out to to @garbinge because honestly if we hadn't talked earlier I don't know if I would've ever gotten around to tackling this prompt haha.
Suicide Squad Taglist: @garbinge (If you want to be added to any of my taglists, please let me know!)
Tumblr media
“So,” Rick grumbled as everyone started to make their way back to the chopper, “from now on I guess we gotta split up the teams a little differently.”
Harley was cackling as she walked beside him. “Why?”
He shot her an annoyed glare. The issues that unfolded weren’t her fault at all, but she definitely knew what the issues were and why he was making the decisions that he was. “You know why.”
She was still laughing, nearly doubled over. She desperately wanted to hear him say it, but she had a feeling that she wasn’t going to be successful in that. It would’ve been funny, though, to hear Rick talking about how they have to restructure how they split up because two members of their team got caught hooking up while they were out in the field and supposed to be doing literally anything other than that. When their comms had gone silent out of nowhere, Rick had split away from Harley to go and check to make sure that they hadn’t gotten killed or captured. What he found was something that he wasn’t ever going to be able to burn from his memory no matter how hard he tried.
“You shouldn’t be kink-shamin’ on the job, Flag,” she said, mostly joking but her tone just serious enough to get a rise out of the man walking with her.
“They shouldn’t be,” he shook his head, sputtering to get the words out, “kink-anything on the job!”
“You never said that.”
Rick tossed his bag up into the helo with a shake of his head. “Didn’t think it needed to be said.”
“Now you know for next time.”
“There ain’t gonna be a next time.”
Harley was giggling at the thought of it. She wished that she could’ve been there to see the look on Rick’s face in person, although she had to assume that his expression when she saw him even a few minutes after the fact must’ve been pretty close. She could only imagine what his face would be like if something like that ever did happen again. It wasn’t completely out of the question. Each time their team went out they were essentially heading out to die, after all.
“Maybe you should try it,” Harley said with a laugh as she plopped down in the seat beside him, their backs against the wall of the chopper.
“Try what?” he asked as he clipped the straps across his chest to keep him in place. He regretted the words as soon as they came out of his mouth but there was no taking them back now.
“I dunno, I’m just sayin’, maybe a little monster-fucking would loosen you up a bit.”
“Harley,” he snapped, keeping his voice quiet but sharp.
“What?!” she sounded genuinely shocked that he responded that way. “It might help!”
He shook his head. “We’re not talking about this.”
She shrugged, relaxing a bit as they prepared to take off and head back to Belle Reve. “Alright. Still don’t know why you’re clutching your pearls like it’s something you’ve never done before.”
His head snapped to look at her. “What?”
“What?”
He knew better than to let the conversation continue, but he was so confused and annoyed that he couldn’t help himself. “What the hell are you talking about?”
“You and the Doctor, right?”
Rick’s face hardened instantly, annoyance shifting into something much starker than that. “Don’t.”
“But—”
He cut her off. “Harley, shut it.” He shook his head. “It wasn’t like that with June.”
“June!” Harley exclaimed, the name unlocking part of her memory. “Right. Enchantress.”
“She’s not—” he stopped himself short, trying not to get more worked up than it was worth. “Her name’s June, Harley. And it wasn’t,” he sighed, “it wasn’t like that.”
“Alright,” she held her hands up in mock surrender, “it wasn’t like that.”
It was quiet between them for a few minutes. Rick’s mind was miles and months away from where he was currently sitting next to Harley. Memories playing in rapid succession as he stared down at the toes of his boots. He thought back on it all, wishing that it could’ve ended differently but also knowing that there really wasn’t any other way for it to end. His frown deepened the more that he thought about it.
Harley’s voice pulled him back to the present, chirping the words out beside him. “Still think you should try it.”
He let out a deep sigh. “I’m not talkin’ about this with you.”
She turned to look at him even though he wasn’t looking at her anymore. “You had a girlfriend since her? Or at least, y’know—”
“I said I’m not talkin’ about this.”
Harley nodded. “So that’s a no.”
Rick shook his head, still not looking at her. “You haven’t had a boyfriend since the clown got blown out of the sky.” Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the way that Harley flinched at that. He almost felt bad.
“Least I got an excuse—you’re not in prison.”
Rick chuckled humorlessly. “Might as well be.”
“’Cause you miss her that much?” she asked, her tone much more genuine than it had been before. There was hurt in her eyes, some of it on Rick’s behalf, most of it thinking about her own situation.
“Do you not know how to drop it?” Rick asked her, exasperated.
“You never answer my questions!”
“Because it’s not your fuckin’ business!”
“C’mon, Flag, we’re friends! Sure it’s my business.”
“We’re not—” he cut himself off. He was about to say that they weren’t friends, but when he stepped back and really looked at his life these days, she was one of the closest things that he had to one. “Doesn’t make it your business.”
Harley frowned, watching him intently even though he refused to look over at her. “Can I ask you somethin’?”
“No,” he answered without hesitation.
Just as he figured, his response didn’t stop her from asking anyway. “How long did it take to get over it?”
Rick let out a heavy sigh, shutting his eyes and relaxing as much as he could force his body to given the current circumstances. “I’ll let you know when it happens.”

tw: pregnancy, slight mention of family trauma
it's 6 something in the morning on a saturday and i dunno just got some thoughts.
so update: i had a baby! she was due in june, but wanted to arrive early and was born in may. i kept my pregnancy pretty quiet on social bc i had to this weird fear of folks finding out. i dunno it's weird while i was pregnant i felt like a teen mom even though i'm a grown ass woman, married and with a career lmao.
being a parent is def challenging, but in all honesty it's at the same pretty rad (for me). i never thought i would have kids, like i always had a laissez-faire (is that how you spell it idk) about them-- like I won't be upset if I did or didn't have 'em, ya know. i was 18 weeks when i found out i was preggers and yeah at first i was scared SHITLESS but as the journey progressed I pretty much found peace.
being pregnant sucked ass i'm not gonna lie. and so did giving birth. and i'm set on having one kid. one and done, my dudes!! one baby is fine with me; i don't think i wanna put her in a difficult position of being an older sibling like I had growing up. idk maybe it's an asian/filipino thing for the eldest sister to carry a heavy burden-- at least it was for me.
anyways, i had my 34th birthday in august, and it was a very chill birthday and i'm happy to see it this far. i made it a challenge to find joy in every day of august -- whether it's making time for a journaling or drawing session, working out (yes i can finally lift weights again yesssss), or even going on a walk with my daughter-- and i think i did a pretty solid job accomplishing that goal.
it's weird being in my 30s have made me uhhhh a lot more chill and made me taking a slower approach to a lot of things. i'm finding myself more mindful of shit. or maybe all of this happening bc i'm finally listening to my therapist and actually do the goddamn homework haha.
okay yeah, that's it really. i couldn't draw a lot this year bc of carpel tunnel from the pregnancy. my body is still adjusting itself back so there are some soreness in my fragile bones haha. i have been drawing a lot since the baby was born, but mainly in my sketchbook and honestly i've been too lazy/tired to scan and upload them. i'll get to it eventually i'm sure.
ciao!

A Shop for Killers Live Blogging
I almost started watching My Stand-In (8 eps out) but am feeling a pull for this instead. I knew this had Lee Dong Wook when I came across it but forgot until right now when looking at the poster again haha. I'm hoping it's fun and action-packed and interesting.
Ep 1 (June 18)
that was pretty interesting intro, some guy trying to kill Jian and the woman in the house seems a danger too and maybe also the other guy who was lying down
They don't write Jian's full name in the subs even though the characters are clearly saying Jung Jian
머더헬프 = Murder Help? Mother Help? the translations say "murthehelp" but what?
so is the intro going to come up later? I don't think it said anything about "_ ago" or "_ later" when this scene started...
he's dead?! well i'd like to see his body to make sure it's not a fakeout
1 year ago
Her uncle is 1) expecting some sort of attack and preparing for it and 2) terrorizing people who wrong them/Jian
the last thing he said to her was her student number? but that was a 1 year ago, they haven't had any contact since then or what
ayo what the hell, we're getting to see the body? and it's actually him, not some other guy to pretend he died?
Is the synopsis that the uncle dies? idk why I thought her parents died, so she started living with her uncle
what does the tattoo say
oh lmfao it says murthehelp, I suppose the episode title was correct indeed
Does Bae Jeongmin know anything? or involved in any way? he's offering to clean the bathroom where Jinman died and he could be just being nice or hiding something
Comrade Lee Yonghan - name to remember?
Jeongmin found a (burner?) phone hm
drama at the funeral
Jinman was helping out everybody with money troubles in secret?
lived together for 10 years? so 1 year ago, did she move out?
aw, Jian breaking down alone at home
gun selling website behind the hose business
how many ppl are on her ass bruh
Ep 2 (June 18)
jinman's name 3 times to the sky
bro wtf did Jinman do for everybody to be hating him or seeking revenge or somethingggg? Did his enemies kill his mother and come to kill his brother and SIL?
the same burner phone a decade ago
[Linguistics] They keep using 금방, which I didn't know meant soon but that's fun. it's the syllables switched of 방금, which means just now/a moment ago. short time in the future vs past.
this guy who knows the password reminds me a bit of Wi Hajoon for some reason. I should watch a show with him soon
I've had recurring nightmares as a child and pre-teen about home invasions and such people coming to our house and having to escape like this. so proud of little Jian for escaping
who did the car hit? Jian? why'd it seem like a grown man running towards the house though, it wouldn't be Jinman, right?
this is so fucked up man, her escaping the hospital room and having to hide in the morgue in a little space beside her mother's corpse and she didn't even fully know that the parents are dead
why is he so mean to her lakjdf let's kill him, especially cuz he's the reason her parents and grandma are dead anyway
can't go one korean show without some terrible bully children
fuckkk this bringing her back to that day and getting mad that he came so late despite saying he'd be right back and finally speaking again
hm, the woman with the bob left but she's gonna be back to get caught in the fire with her and Jeongmin later
Ah, a shop for killers; he has a shop where killers can buy
is Jian Code Green?
well, they killed him and are now coming for her, so much for code green
What's up with all this? They banded together to kill Jinman, I'm assuming? And now that he's dead, they're getting rid of their codes (literally in their bodies), and going to kill his niece? Why?
Ep 3 (June 18)
damn, he's on some drugs. and he's faking it to see what Jian would do or something I guess? what are the chances he's doing it again right now by faking his death?
What was that? Does Jeongmin also have a code thing in him? or ig not since it said Error
oh, is the woman actually here to help/protect Jian? I'd noticed that she wasn't with all the men who were planning on killing Jian at the end of last ep
does this woman speak Korean with an accent?
So we aren't counting bullets with the little pistol ig
close the workshed door at least
Brother... also a helper?
Ep 4 (June 19)
damn
name to remember: Bale
oh, is that "Brother" guy the same guy? I couldn't see his face
oh, that's Pasin
Is Pasin also dead, hope not
yesss Jian Muay Thai expert
pls the karaoke guy always singing at the restaurant while watching TV -> singing on TV is so fun
The Minsook girl seems like she could do so much better than hanging out with those bully, cowardly boys (i think it's funny that she stole Jinman's watch but after getting stared down, returned it and apologized). i hope she'll show up again
Damn, Pasin ran off with people's money?
D: these cameras
Brother's working with Mihye
Oh, Jeongmin suddenly becoming bolder/harsher and stopping Brother guy from speaking... just as he's about to give more info...
Brother says to not trust Jeongmin... but Jeongmin doesn't trust Brother... I don't trust either fully
Brother says Jinman's died because of Jeongmin but he doesn't know how
Brother and Jeongmin at each other's throats and Jian's guy pointed at Jeongmin. who to trust?
why would clicking on 0404 kill them... Jeongmin...
Weapon shopping mall
Mihye does know Brother, though I assume she met him as a child
...choosing Jeongmin?
ah, I did wonder for a second whether at least Jinman wouldn't think that Jeongmin had locker her in because how would Jeongmin know where she was even at night + not go get anybody?
well, Jeongmin turning out to not be good isn't a surprise, especially the way he started behaving once Brother was here but from when I suspected him at the start + started suspecting him again in the middle of this episode, they were good at making me go like hm, perhaps he's not evil
good parallel with Jinman being like you must be responsible for your choices and Jian's decision to keep it meant she witnessed the cat's death and also her decision to trust Jeongmin over Brother resulted in her current predicament.
Jian was dumb to trust Jeongmin but people are seriously being too mean and flippant about her in the reddit on-air thread, makes me frown.
Ep 5 (June 19)
a manual labour part-time job, not website-making
he's not working on his own obviously, he's got some other people he answers to. seems like the big draw is money?
oh yeah, I'd wondered if he had somehow known about the site already when he was first "finding" it with Jian but it was a passing thought
hmmm these people who recruited Jeongmin basically, are they the ones who killed Jian's parents and grandma? And are they ones who were at Jinnam's funeral? Because those people didn't seem to be the weapons buyers who were trying to kill Jian
Damn, the other guy really just got shot in the head
I guess Jeongmin's actor cute baby face helps sell this sort of role because I think they said he was a killer in Blind or something too
cameras everywhere, including seeing Jeongmin mess around
so those people want access to murthehelp?
Naur, how could Jinman fall for a fake recording of Jian? I don't even know if she'd call for help from this like that... wouldn't it be Jeong Jinman x3? Maybe he's playing bc girl what. I think he'd at least just call her phone straight up just to see
damn that's wild, he just believed that 5 second recording and killed himself while believing that the people who supposedly kidnapped his niece would let her go if he dies? doubt it. i think he's still alive or Something bc wtf
right, so the show also knows that's way too easy...
btw where are Mihye and Brother?
oh lmfao they just left her there to fend for herself
oh yeah, I was wondering what he'd done secretly when he remodeled the house
hm, so Babylon also came? and the two teams are working together now or what?
hilarious "[the killer robot dog] is gonna steal our jobs later, you know"
this fight/shooting scene is so video game-y to me
why didn't Brother get the gun from the hallway and sneak up on the guy or something? good thing Pisan got here at the perfect time ig
We found out stuff behind Jinman's death and who's behind it but I still found this ep boring somehow...
Ep 6 (June 20)
ngl I wanna just finish this show and be done with it today so maybe I'll watch at 1.25x (I did that for the second half of ep 5 last night) unless I start Really liking it and wanna savour it
So seems like backstory is: Jinnam was doing stuff and killing people or whatever in a big team, which included Bale. Then 14 years ago he saw Bale kill a child in cold-blood because "there can't be witnesses." The killers here all seem trained and capable. He probably leaves/runs away and that's why he finally goes to his family but Bale and the people are all chasing him and killing his family and want to kill him. because of him as a witness or some other reason? I think 13 years ago Jian was living with Jinman so it makes sense ig
oh, so they were mercenaries and the mission was to take that guy to safety but Bale killed civilians.
damn, Jinman lied on the stand for Bale
Bale is scary af
Enough scantily clad women in vulnerable positions i feel ill and upset every time
is this Mihye?
ah, Bale literally saying that he'd kill all of Jinman's family and friends if he's still alive
he said he'd take out Jinman last... but Jian is still left... idk I'm just looking for clues that he's still alive somehow lmfao
ah, no more bullets to properly take out Bale but they assumed he was dead
Who is the person who's supposed to be tailing Jinman?
Bale didn't give Jinman time to Breathe, mans went back to his family and Immediately they started dropping like flies
I liked this ep, action, backstory, and answers. and also perhaps a more engaging story or maybe just the sort of story i'm more in the mood for rather than the other episodes.
Also, Lee Dongwook looked good whenever he had his hair down like toward the end of the ep when he's out of uniform and has the bandaid on his face.
Ep 7 (June 20)
is the guy who Mihye's staying with the same guy who went to save Jian but then got killed + his arm chopped off?
ohh, it must be him because I'm remembering that he also typed the answer on the phone to show Jian, right? and he uses sign language here too. though is he the one who called Jinman when his brother died? probably not
ohhh these fuckers orchestrated that murder-suicide story for Jian's parents
wait the deaf friend who I've been thinking has a nice face is named Honda here and he was also the main character in The Director Buys Me Dinner?!
so even the guy who gave the warning actually did it so that Jinman would leave and be ambushed
oh yeah, I'd wondered if the car broken down lady was actually part of the plan and seems like yeah
so not just Bale's conspiracy but entire Babylon wants Jinman dead because he lied about what happened and how Bale "died"
He needs a long-term plan... and that's why he's either not dead or died knowing exactly what was going to happen after
Aw, Pasin, Mihye, Brother, Jian all in that house
I'm liking the backstory episdoes. I liked the backstory in earlier episodes of young Jian when people were dying and how her and Jinman interacted but then I got bored of the backstories in the middle of when she was a teenager because it felt like we weren't getting scenes that needed half the episode to itself but these two episodes were interesting to see why everything was happening and the story just interested me more. Interesting use of flashbacks though because in the earlier eps, we were doing 50-50 flashbacks and current time, both in Jian's POV but now we've done 100% flashbacks in Jinman's POV.
Last ep, 1 hour left, we'll see how they wrap it up.
Ep 8 (June 20)
parallels with her hiding in her room while this fucker's out to get her
oof, Brother dead
It's really not fun to have everybody fighting and dying while Jian just stands and watches in horror even while everybody's telling her to run, thus also distracting them. either help or escape bruh
okay I defended Jian from people calling her stupid in like the ep 4 reactions or whatever but she's so frustrating now. i get she Wants To Know What Happened but just giving away her position and trying to talk to this guy is so... like he literally has a gun
dying, the way the guy was talking about and to Jeongmin before and after killing him was really funny
oh lol Brother was wearing a bulletproof vest. but on that note, what about Mihye? and also I can't believe it's seeming more and more like Jinman truly just offed himself over a fake recording like actually wtf, like he actually would not do that he can't be so stupid
okay she did it, clean bullet through the head, good job Jian
ah, so every killer came to kill them all because Babylon was offering bounty for their deaths. but what about Bale? or is he just fine w Jinman dead or thought dead or whatever
so funny, they're all like yaaas tax-free prize + sales on weaponry
thought the bus would have Jinman lol
okay, duh. ofc he's alive duh and comes right after Jian has managed to escape/survive/etc.
Kind of anticlimactic but tracks with what we've seen in the earlier eps I guess. Also, no Bale? Some people on the on-air thread said we're supposed to assume that maybe Jinman was fighting with Bale and that's why he's weak and bruised? idk.
Overall:
Interesting premise + interesting execution with all the flashbacks, especially because it was like eps 1 - 4: about half is flashbacks to Jian's childhood/growning up with Jinman/teenagehood in her POV, ep 5: Jeongmin's POV flashback for about half, eps 6 - 7: almost entirely Jinman POV flashbacks, ep 8: almost no flashbacks. I think I liked some of the early Jian's POV eps (ep 2 comes to mind) and quite enjoyed eps 6 - 7 which gave us more backstory. I do have to say the flashbacks cutting through the current action was sometimes bothersome, especially after we'd established important stuff in the first few eps and were showing stuff in the middle episodes that didn't need as much screentime, specifically Jian's teenage life. I thought ep 5 was also weak af.
I found Jinman intriguing and mysterious and understood him despite being frustrated with how he treated Jian at times. Jian I liked way more at the beginning but then started being kind of annoyed toward the end at times. Mihye was soooo cool.
It was a surprisingly funny show, especially in regard to how this is just a job for these mercenaries and killers lol
The ending was a bit anticlimactic in terms of how things were resolved + there was a bunch of important threads that were unfinished (aiming for a season 2?). I wasn't surprised by the ending but I don't know if they were aiming for that anyway, I think they knew the audience to predict it and were okay with it.
idk what to rate it, like it's fine, I liked it well enough, likely will never think about it again, but may watch season 2 if it ever airs. I guess I liked it more than Killed Paradox (I actually barely remember that show, esp the second half? nothing in my brain)
Rating: 6.5/10

Multiverse News: Week 1
Tumblr media
Greetings, fellow travelers! It’s your favorite hot mess speaking! 🖖
In the new year, I wanted to make an effort to share more about my writing progress and give you guys better (and hopefully, weekly) updates on some of my WIPs that I’ve been working on during that time.
So, for the curious among you, it’s a great opportunity to get some insight, and for me, it’s awesome because I get to share some of my excitement about current projects with you guys. And you know the rules here, questions are not only allowed but welcomed. Let me know if you like this idea and if we should continue it. In the future, I could also add fic recs of what I read that week if that would be something you’re interested in. So, without further ado, let’s get started! 🖤
Fine print: Updates may contain small spoilers, which are announced in italics! 😜
Tumblr media
Series Updates:
DBM: Finished three chapters this week. Spoilers: First part takes place in the reader’s past with chosen moments throughout the first three seasons. The chapters are called: Lemons, Salt, Tequila. Cas and Jack also finally make appearances 😇
TBH: Finished up and ready to go up until 30. I still hate them. They keep sacrificing themselves and dying or do something insanely stupid. They won’t cooperate with me, but I’ve worked out quite a few kinks! 💪
PH: Finished until 18. Oooooooh, do I love writing this thing! Spoilers: Intense jealousy and anger management problems in parts 17 and 18. God, they’re idiots! Also, have I mentioned the smut in 13 and 14? 🔥 No? Well, there you go…
Tumblr media
Planned Miniseries:
Cast Away: So excited for this one! It’s a hate to love, with one part already being piningly in love, and everything happens on a deserted island because of a stupid witch spell (haha cast away… Get it now? 😂). Also, there might be some Peter Pan elements in this. Be surprised (and if you send me an ask about it, I might send you snippets of the first part) 😉
Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You, Baby: This is actually a part two to a Jensen x Reader one-shot I did in June. I said back then that I want more of them, and I still do. This has been sitting in my drafts for months again. Edited so many times I can’t even count and still not finished. But I had one final idea on how to fix what I don’t like, so we’ll see. I’m quite happy with the direction it’s taking 🙃
Tumblr media
Upcoming One-Shots:
Mercilessly: Demon!Dean x Soulmate!Reader fic. Not gonna spoil too much about it because it’s posting soon for a challenge 😈
Everything I Wanted: The alternate ending to On The Beach aka the one I deleted because it was depressing, angsty and devastating. Anyways, who wants their hearts to be broken? (Also, I titled it after the Billie Eilish song because the lyrics and video always make me fucking bawl my eyes out 😭)

KOREAN DRAMAS MUST WATCH [PART 1]
Alchemy of Souls 🔮
SEASON 1 & 2
Genre: Historical Fantasy/Action/Adventure
Rating: 100/10
No. of Episodes: S1- 20, S2- 10
Date Watched: June, Dec 2022-Jan 2023
WARNING: A LOOONNGG REVIEW
Tumblr media
Ahhh I cannot! I cannot believe that it's overrrr! This series may be one of my favorite, if not the most fave, korean fantasy drama to date. The plot and the twists are so spot on. I really love how this drama was created from the production, the casts (Naksu at the beginning of S1 AHHH), the costumes and the plot. It keeps you wanting more. And oh, not to mention the handsomeness and beauty of the casts!! Naksu and Seo!! Season 1 is all about our main lead--Naksu--who turned out to be a victim only of our evil antagonist, finding her true self instead which took turn from its original plan of revenge. I saw only some few action scenes unlike in Chinese dramas where fighting scenes are indeed very satisfying.. so yeah it was quite a downfall from the thrill I felt from Naksu's fighting scene in the beginning. But yeah, since she was in a different body which embodies no powers at all, it was quite obvious that there won't be that much fighting scenes even for the guys. Chinese dramas influence is real!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then in Season 2, mygoodness.. I can't even remember a satisfying fighting scene which used Tansu or whatever power they have. All swords and that, nothing carved in my memory at all. Also, this time, the story focuses on Naksu--who's real name is Cho Yeong--who were Jin Buyeon now--finding who she really is.. again, as her memories where wiped out by Master Lee.. and Jang Uk being a hunter of soul shifters to atone for the sins of whoever, I forgor haha. Anyways, the ending of Season 2 was super satisfying. I was so relieved, knowing how kill joy the writers of this drama is! I can't still forget about Scarlet Heart OMGGG..
Season 3? There definitely should be! The season 2 ending gave us a LOT to think about that this series is not over YET. And here's why:
1. The last episode first and foremost showed us that Maidservant Kim was pregnant. Yes, this is something to add to the next season definitely. 2. Next, the 2nd Jin daughter and the leader of Songrim (sorry forgot their names), got twin boys. And it was said that Jang Uk and BJinyowonuyeon plans to have a daughter as their firstborn. Isn't this something to anticipate for?? The next successor ofJinyowon and the incredible divine powers. Not to mention that her father also possesses the ice stone. Imagine the immense powers their kids will have! 3. The very charming Seol will head Songrim with its recruitment with his so-called new system. And there were two mages with great potentials in becoming the next high-level mages that will eventually surpass even Jan Uk's level. Imagine?? A definitelymust watch! 4. Master Heo's granddaughter who had a crush on jang Uk and became the kontrabida in our eyes, evantually had this very mysterious "handsome" man who was said to be as handsome as Seol. Imagine!!! I am getting the chills even thinking about who this mysteryguy is. I mean, is he good or bad? Hmmm! 5. The episode ended with our favorite couple Jang Uk and Buyeon looking for the relics that escaped. Like 32 escaped and they only captured 12 so far. So imagine what their next adventures would be! This is what we all will be thrilled to watch definitely!6. And of course let's not forget about our very charming the crown prince--I mean King. Well, it's match-making time! Who did Buyeon chose as his future Queen?? It was Buyeon who suggested potential queens so it's a must watch!Ahhh the thrill the next season would bring. So why end this series when there are still lots to look out for? Right?
So please Netflix, let there be season 3!
Under the Queen's Umbrella ☂️
Genre: Historical / Drama
Rating: 12/10
No. of Episodes: 16
Date Watched: Feb 17-18, 2023
Tumblr media
A Netflix original.. again--so what do I expect?? Of course it is a superb drama! I am so not new with the palace twisted plots about revenge and fighting for throne. I mean, brothers filth theor hands with blood just to be the King or Crown Prince.. and this is what this drama is all about. I said I wasn't new in all these, right? But heck, watching this drama.. it was like watching an unfamiliar plot for the first time! THE QUEEN!!! I cannot.. she is AWESOME! To be honest, she was the reason why I backed out from watching this drama few months ago. Like seriously, she creeped the hell out of me. She just looks so intimidating! Srsly! But then two days ago, I saw a short clip from this drama wherein the Crown Prince was changing his clothes and then the Crown Princess suddenly barged in, seeing his nakedness (just topless, ehem) ...ahhh! And he is sooo handsome! So yeah, my weakness was kinda shaken and pushed me to watch the entire drama.. WHICH I REALLY THANK FOR BTW! And I am not exaggerating with the capital letters. She is the best Queen I have watched ever. Like Queen MOTHER to the highest level. She earned my respect, really. Because of her, many wrong doings were corrected and she saved a lot of lives.. not only her family and the King btw which is a very though thing to do honestly if the Queen isn't headstrong and witty. Being in the palace entails guts and more guts.. but of course, a ton of brains too. Those two things should be solid to be able to survive the evils of the palace.. which she succeeded in doing. The fights between princeses and concubines are such a terrifying thing to watch, but it was kinda okay with this drama compare with the other dramas I watched. (Nothing beats Yanxi Palace in Queen vs. Concubines btw.. NOTHING!) And speaking of.. The Queen is a Korean version of Wei Ying Luo.. such badass female leads. Femme fatale!
Another kudos to K-drama and Netflix collab 💖

Some Disney schedule-centric stuff... (Yes, I'm still mad at 'em about the MOON GIRL thing.)
ICE AGE 6 has been put on the calendar, for real. An actual concrete date. Funnily enough, the first movie in that series to be a Christmastime release.
It has kicked an untitled STAR WARS movie out of December 18, 2026. A Fox for a Fox.
And to be honest, I didn't think Disney would succeed in releasing *two* STAR WARS features in 2026, only the May release THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU. The other movie, which could or could've been the Rey movie that they announced a little while back, is what got booted. Maybe it moves to December 17, 2027, another slot Disney staked out for a STAR WARS movie. Maybe not, now that there's talks of a new trilogy being fired up. I wonder if the "Rey 15 Years Later" movie just gets worked into EPISODE X.
Speaking of Disney's release schedule:
A game of chicken that I continue to have my eyes on...
Pixar's new original picture ELIO vs. the live-action remake of HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON.
New images from said remake are out now, and they seem to confirm that this live-action take isn't going to be a new adaptation of the original HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON book series by Cressida Cowell, it instead looks to be a shot-for-shot remake of the 2010 animated DreamWorks movie... From one of its own directors, no less, Dean DeBlois. Who was outspoken about how he wasn't too fond of these kinds of remakes, but, I guess he's gotta jumpstart his live-action career some way? MICRONAUTS didn't work out.
(Idk, maybe parts of it are the 2010 movie, and there's plenty of new crap, but we'll see.)
Anyways, that *might* be a problem for ELIO if audiences are down for the same HTTYD but more gray and more boring-looking. And I think they will be, because most of these remakes do pretty well at the box office. In the post-COVID outbreak era, the sole theatrical release original Pixar movie was ELEMENTAL (not counting tiny later theater runs of the three films sent straight to D+ at first), and that opened w/ $29m. Despite legging it worldwide to near $500m, Disney heads still considered it a failure after the fact. It's all why Disney heads are mandating Pixar to put the lid on "autobiographical" movies. ELIO has got a lot on it shoulders, for sure. It's already a film that changed directors after animation production began, at that. I'd imagine that ballooned its budget.
With Disney Animation's MOANA 2 around the corner, I expect a trailer for the now-revised movie to pop up soon. A new logo for it and some stuff was shown at the Brazilian D23 Expo recently, so yeah.
But is releasing it against a remake of a family film classic a good idea?
Disney has a bunch of summer dates locked, too.
Imagine if they swaperoo'ed w/ live-action LILO & STITCH (5/23/2025), the original also being directed by Dean DeBlois alongside Chris Sanders (much like DRAGON), and that went head to head with DRAGON. Unlikely, lol.
I suppose Pixar could trade Marvel, though Marvel always does the first weekend of May. And putting THUNDERBOLTS* in mid-June puts it closer to FANTASTIC 4: FIRST STEPS (7/25/2025). Unless one of those Marvel movies vacates and goes to autumn, and something like PREDATOR: BADLANDS moves up. Doubt it, though, it's in post right now, filming wrapped a month ago. Or if THUNDERBOLTS* went to April. Disney/20th has THE AMATEUR there already, that was already delayed to begin with.
ELIO could also move back a day, move forward a day. Back's probably better, so DRAGON can get its head start, instead of ELIO getting out and then being overshadowed by DRAGON.
Maybe this is all moot, and it'll be a nice case where both movies co-exist and make a profit, haha. A real planets-aligning moment.
I guess Disney will stay the course, maybe they have faith in it, maybe they don't... I do not know, I'm not a fly on the wall there, but I wouldn't keep it there myself. Universal could also blink, but I don't see them doing that at the moment.
We shall see...

Ground Rules about Celebration 2025 so I can stop thinking about it until tickets go on sale ~June 2024
honestly if any of you tumblrinas happen to be going i'd love to be buddies
What we know so far:
Date: 18-20 April (Fri-Sun, Easter) 10am-6pm
Venue: Makuhari Messe, Chiba
How long should the trip take?
Probably 1 week ~8d7n if not longer. Ideally 16 (Wed) - 22 (Tue) for cheapest tickets, subject to rearrange if i have a proper long-term job then, and if partners.
Which day(s) am I going?
19 April, I hope. I don't think I can afford going all 3 days financially so the meat is the first choice. But I guess 18/Fri is agreeable if tickets are easier to get for a work day. I know there will be a group discount but I honestly don't think all 3 days is necessary. Pretty sure there'll be plenty happening outside the event hall as well. Likewise probably will be saving on the panel guarantee pass.
What/Who do I want to see?
Well, I don't really have a set goal --so let's sort that out! No celebirty's schedule is confirmed so far in advance and no shows are scheduled for a 2025 release so we're really in the dark here. 2025 is expected to be similar if not smaller than London for being an overseas event. I thought Japan is further but turns out both London and Tokyo are about 11 hours flight away haha. I don't even know what they're gonna announce seeing there's not much this year. Perhaps updates on the three new movies - which I'm have no interest towards whatsoever. and a Visions vol... 4, maybe?
2025 is ROTS 20th anniversary so I really hope Hayden and Ewan will be there. Hayden's probably free but we will have to see Ewan's schedule. Either way I'd still be subjected to panel lottery so it's out of my hands. I'm content just seeing them from far away as is.
Ashley, of course. I'm fairly confident she'd be there, and I'm preeeety sure the #Ahsokalivesinallofus meetup doesn't require a ticket. The thing is, I don't know what to do if I meet Ashley. I THINK I'd give her a letter and some small gift, and I could've done that if there's a present box like your usual Japanese idol, but I'm not sure if I should book at least an autograph session so we can have a little chat. I have NO idea what to let her sign (okay maybe the back of the custom animator baybsoka), or what I should SAY TO HER FACE. Handshake/hug/selfie is out of the window and I- if I have anything to say, i KNOW that I won't be able to boil it down to three sentences. It wasn't like that time I met Kishi and I can only say what I rehearsed in broken Japanese. I actually KNOW english and I won't be able to control my brain and mouth then.
I don't have my hopes high Matt or JAT would be there, it's not a TCW anniversary after all. But if they do I'm SO booking a group photo with them. I'm so jealous of the deal this year. Otherwise I'm fine not getting a photo or autographs. Seeing them in real-life is magic enough.
Sure I'd love to meet the Andor cast, but I don't think many of them would be there? There'd probably be an Andor S2 recap panel, but if I met anyone from Andor it'd be a bonus.
What do I want to see?
Like I said, I'm not actually as big about the panels as I am just being there to feel the event. I know expectation and reality and fall short and heard no little of this year's poor management. I'm not big on merch either exclusive or otherwise (unless they bring out dolls of course - but those would later become available anyway)
I'm more interested in meeting other fans and seeing the non-streamed fan panels. I found this souvenir-exchange group 'SWAG' (something we call get) where people trade patches and stickers. I'm captivated by the idea but I think for now the best i can do is made some polaroids with my toy photos. well, i'll need something to make friends in queue anyway. phew it's a long way, we'll see. Maybe I can bead some padawan braids, maybe i can make DF's skyguy and snips drawing into a patch/mini tshirt.
I wanna see the cosplay SO BAD. Because it's Japan I think we all have unrealistic expectations of how good the cosplay and (fan)merch would be. I'd lose half my liver there (on top of the thrift trips I WILL BE GOING)
Am I going in cosplay?
HA I'd love to. I'd love to go as at least Pav-ti if not TCW Adult!Ahsoka. HOWEVER, the very practical reasons of: how tired it is to walk in cosplay all day and how do i transport that to Japan and carry it around for 10 days, before i even think about making the props. I might get away dressing as Pav-ti with the smaller headpiece but I'd still have to paint myself orange. Maybe I can make use of queueing time to make up.... I could also carry a sturdy satchel (with a cute baby) to store all my stuff...
okay... I'd put Pav-ti as my goal first because I really want to make the most out of it.
Otherwise I'd so wearing an itabac lmao
Am I scouting a partner?
*sigh* I know every SW fan in HK will be going but technically I still don't know any one irl? Not even very close online? Also they're mostly a bunch of old men...? I know... thus this is the perfect opportunity for me to find a fellow fan like me...
I mean, it'd be cozier and probably easier to have a partner. I could share a proper hotel room and make a queue partner and photographer. But then I'd probably have to cut the trip short because no one with a steady job will just take a week of vacation.
When the time rolls around, there'd probably be a FB group of HK dispatchers and maybe I can find some one there. Then we'd have time to get to know each other better before the trip.
On the other hand, I don't know, I'm not really good with this planning for another person thing. I also figure one would meet plenty HKers on site anyway...
What's the budget?
plane, stay, food, ticket+shop, transport & misc. = 2k x5 = >10k HKD
if i save $1000 per month for a year we'd've more than enough
Other logistic details?
Yeah well, I had this delusion that I could just sleep outside the hall to save accomodation AND early access. Not sure... might still work haha. The official hotel blocks would be crazy expensive and the next nearest affordable rooms would be ahead at Chiba city rather than back at Tokyo. There are net cafes around Messe but you'd still have to take a bus probably. Well 6pm isn't very late yet so walking is plausible. Besides comments said they upcharge for the weekend so we probably won't be saving much, might as well book a proper hotel room/hostel space if we're staying for consecutively nights because we're gonna be so tired walking around all day. The key is to book Chiba city early.
Roughly goes Wed flight in Osaka, Thu Kyoto?(night bus CHIBA) At least from Friday to Sunday I'd be in Chiba. Might go back to Tokyo Sunday night if hostels are cheaper there. Then I'd have Monday to go around Tokyo (nightbus OSAKA) if the flight is Tuesday Day. (experience-wise i might have to enter/exit through KIX to save money but let's cross fingers for a direct tokyo flight)
If I fly direct Tokyo this time, I can even store luggage at the tokyo hotels and just head to Messe/Chiba on backpack!
Seeing '23 repo, I don't want my time to be wasted in queues. I'd have to prepare my own food and make friends while queueing. Bring a mini-fan and stay hydrated (but not too much that you need the bathroom) Choose a reliable network service and up my Japanese game.
I expect to pick up some items when I get into Japan. a trolley perhaps, or a foldable chair. not sure if i need a camp lol. too soon to speak.
What else to look at?
Doll stuff, toku spots, Kishi.
Kishi should still be easy enough to find two years later, don't know if I could happen upon his roadshow or better yet a concert.
Toku spots! Pretty much covered the classics my last two trip and don't think I'd go too far out this trip... Well, Messe itself is already a toku spot! I might round up a few new ones the last few years. However!!! mid-April is right when FLT goes!! jury's still out if I'd like the '24 Sentai but I hope this time I can see a hero show! finally!
Doll stuff. I'm actually not sure where to see doll stuff in Tokyo. I'd have to really dig blogs and videos for it. Would be more learning than buying with that price tag lol.
I had this 'ADVANCE BOOKING' list when I planned for the olympics that might be of use this time. Not sure if the timetable allows and terms would've changed... but I'll keep an eye out on places I want to visit (esp if bringing friends) hEY, i haven't even seen the imperial palace yet.
What to Do Now
Haha there's not much I can do right not for the actual itineary. New hotels, shops and transportation could open up next year and uproot everything. For now, sub to the newsletter, study japanese, get in shape and make a cosplay. I am thinking of a preview/test run trip but maybe save that money for shopping on the real thing. I need to put my mind off this trip and into the present so I can find a job and raise money for it lol

Edward Cullen
Age - over 90 changed when he was 17
((For sake of RP playing him 18/20 though))
Species - Vampire
About : born as Edward Anthony Mason Jr on June 20th, 1901 in Chicago. Edward is the adoptive son of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, along with his adoptive brother and sisters; Alice, Emmett, Rosalie and Jasper. Edward nearly died of the Spanish influenza in 1918 when Carlisle saved him by changing him into a vampire. Over the next 90 years they bother gathered a family of vampires that considered themselves to be ‘vegetarians’ as they refused to drink human blood and only fed on animals. Once Edward was changed into a vampire he became telepathic and can read minds of those around him.
Before Edward was turned into a vampire he was a very talented pianist, his relationship with his father was rather distant as his father was a very busy lawyer. Edward was closer with his mother as he was her world. Edward always wanted to join the army once he had turned 18 but of course that never came to be when his family caught the Spanish influenza, his father was first to die and then his mother. Before she died she begged their doctor Carlisle to do whatever he could to save Edward from death. After Carlisle converted Edward, Edward formed a deep bond Carlisle and saw him as the father figure he never had.
Version 1 - so, obviously Edward eventually falls in love with Bella the human and we know the rest, heart flutters but for the sake of roleplay and creative ability I’ll be playing him before that and slightly different but still very much to his canon character. Just because it means I can be a little more flexible and not have to stick to what happens in the books/movies. Unless stated otherwise ! This will be the version I play most just because I mostly want to have fun with this character I adore hehe. He still lives with his family and their way of life is definitely how I’m going to play him unless we are doing some kind of alternative universe ~
Version 2 - I will play sometimes, this will be more accurate to after the movies and books so he’s married to Bella and has Renesme etc. I will only play this version unless asked or if I fancy some cute vampire fluff that wasn’t given to me by the movies haha!
Side note - so of course because Edward can read minds I will only use it sparsely and I’ll ask you first as I don’t want it to seem god modding or anything! He only reads minds if he wants to anyway so don’t feel he will know everything.

I don’t usually post about politics, but the UK situation has degenerated into a sitcom that thinks it’s a docudrama. Or vice versa.
If “Blackadder”, “The New Statesman” and “Yes Prime Minister” had a bastard child, it would look like this.
@dduane reblogged someone’s “Explanation for Non-UK readers” HERE.
*****
There have been nearly (more than?) 60 resignations and 1 sacking - that one was for threatening to resign if Prime Minister Boris Johnson didn’t.
BJ mishandling Covid response to the tune of a mountain of corpses didn’t start this, BJ having parties while the rest of the country was in lockdown didn’t do it, BJ giving his minders the slip to chat with a KGB agent (they call themselves FSB nowadays haha but we know who they are, and what was that about anyway?) didn’t do it.
The list of things that didn’t do it is astonishing.
This memorable image of the Queen observing attendance numbers and distancing at her husband’s funeral...
Tumblr media
...stands for all the other people who couldn’t attend funerals or even be with dying family members.
The night before that photo was taken, there were two (TWO) parties at 10 Downing Street...
But no resignations.
*****
The catalyst involved a known sex-pest called Chris Pincher - ”Pincher by name, pincher by nature” BJ is claimed to have said after the first male-groping incident and formal complaint. That was in November 2017.
18 months later Pincher was back in favour - BJ favourite catchphrases are “time to move on” and “put this thing behind us” (ooh-er, Missus!) - and held the post of Deputy Chief Whip (swish-smack! you could NOT make this stuff up...)
Then in June 2022 Mister Whippee groped other males at a party. They were Party Members as well as party attendees, and it seems Pincher pinched their members as well as their arses. Maybe he thought that made it okay. What British Tories regard as acceptable nowadays is a mystery.
There was another formal complaint about the incident.
After which...
Tumblr media
The Prime Minister denied that he’d been told anything about it, then denied that he’d been told very much about it, then denied that he’d been told as much about it as the people who told him about it said they’d told him about it, then claimed that he’d forgotten what he’d been told about it, then was confronted in an open letter with proof showing that he’d not only been told about it, but exactly how much he’d been told about it.
And that’s when the resignations started.
*****
The number of letters with phrases like “...can no longer tolerate...” show that those whose names are on those letters were content to tolerate everything prior. They are no more admirable after the letters than they were before.
It seems - did it apply to the woman caught by an MP giving BJ a BJ in his office? (oh yes, that happened too) - that the Johnsonite gang would rather swallow than spit.
Maybe it’s something learned at Public School, or maybe the rug’s too soggy with sleaze to absorb any more.
It’s certainly lumpy enough from all the stuff swept under it.
*****
At time of posting,
Four Seasons Total Landscaping in Philadelphia offered to provide a venue for any press conference due to “having experience with this sort of thing”.
Somebody was sent to get the Mess Webley.
BJ is believed to have resigned as Leader of the Conservative Party (although his speech did not use the word “resign” anywhere) but plans to stay on until the October party conference as “Caretaker PM” - which conveniently allows use of Chequers, the PM’s country home, for his next wedding reception. At taxpayer expense. Apparently invitations have already gone out.
Nobody can find the Mess Webley.
Moves are already afoot to extract him from the No 10 janitor’s cupboard before he can fill the resignation posts with acquiescent lickspittles, as well as fears of what he might do or cover up in the interim out of carelessness, disinterest, personal interest or spite.
Nobody can find the ammunition for the Mess Webley.
Ex Tory PM John Major has publicly stated that for the good of the country (and other countries!) BJ should not be allowed to remain PM.
It’s as if somebody has deliberately hidden the Mess Webley.
And its ammunition.
ETA: after some “what’s a Mess Webley?” questions, it’s this.
Also, someone who enjoys irony posted this (Gordon Brown (Labour) was 4 PMs ago.)

Currently the most respected, trusted and popular resident of 10 Downing Street continues to be Larry, Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office.

Interview from Norway Rock Magazine 7/2022
Tumblr media
How have the last 18 hours of your life been? You played at home in Stockholm last night.
- Terrible! I hate playing at home! That's the worst thing I know. Everything is so clunky. I'm an ordinary person who likes to do things repetitively, and preferably in exactly the same way every time, but concerts at home are always disturbed by all other possible things.
Lots of family and friends bothering?
- Yes, so I'm just glad it's over. And besides, I have a terrible hay fever. I’m allergic to birch pollen and it's at its worst right now. It's incredibly tiring.
When Papa Emeritus plays in Stockholm, does he speak Swedish or English to the audience?
- No, he's not from Stockholm. He is not Swedish.
He's a timeless figure a’la Dracula?
- Exactly. He is from the hereafter, so that illusion cannot be broken. But he knows some phrases in broken Swedish, Norwegian, Polish.
Did you come directly from Stockholm by bus?
- Yes. But it is not as tiring as many may think. It would have been much more tiring to spend the night in Stockholm and then go to Arlanda early this morning to fly here to Oslo. Now you just go straight to the bus after the show, and then you fall asleep, and are in Norway when you wake up.
You're starting to have a close relationship with Norway now - this will be Ghost’s 22nd concert in Norway in just over ten years, including festivals and support gigs. Are there any of those you remember in particular?
- Well, quite a few, actually. We have had many fun gigs in Norway that I think stand out. What is the name of the big arena here in Oslo ... Ullevaal?
Telenor Arena?
- No, I did not like it. We have played there twice, both with Maiden and with Foo Fighters. But it's a stadium ...
Valle Hovin.
-Correct! We had a split bill with Guns N Roses and Metallica there. And then we played with Metallica in Trondheim, it was cool! Very nice outdoor area with that hill (Granåsen). Bergen I think is a fantastic city. Here in Oslo we have played at least three times, I think, and at Tons Of Rock when it was in Halden. Incredibly great location, that castle.
Ghost's first concert in Norway was at the Oya Festival in 2011. You played in a tent in front of a handful of spectators in the early afternoon. Do you remember it?
- Haha, yes, I remember it, though it was less fun! Not exactly our best memory from Norway.
A bit of a contrast to tonight. But I have the impression that you have always had a vision that Ghost should be a magnificent and choreographed rock theater combined with a Catholic mass, full of dramaturgy. Is that right?
- That was the idea, yes. In the beginning I had a vision to have a production that we have now, but it was with a view to play in theatres. It was because I realized that it was possible to tour with this. Here we are talking 2007-08. Then I imagined that we could be something a’la Dead Can Dance or Diamanda Galas, and do ‘One Night Only’ sgiws at the opera house. And then you play two weeks later somewhere else, and six months later in New York. I envisioned Ghost more as an art installation than as a tumultuous rock band. Maybe it will be like that one day, who knows?
You started working on the new album "Impera" in April 2020 - was it because you had to cancel the tour and you suddenly had nothing else to do?
- No, we were quite lucky, we did not have to cancel a single concert due to covid. The only thing we had to do was postpone some that people were not aware of anyway. We did our last concert in Mexico in March 2020, and then the plan was that I would come home and start pre-production on the new album. We were to do this in March-April-May-June, and then we were to record the album during the summer with a release in late 2020. And after a tumult, I was to take a year off from Ghost. That was the original plan. But already in April 2020, I realized that now it was better to take time off, because now nothing happens anyway. So then I had to stay at home for almost two years.
And you went to write and record "Impera"?
- Yes, but at my own pace. Instead of working 9 to 5 Monday to Friday every single week, I could now, for example, say that next week we only work on Wednesday. And the week after only Tuesday and Thursday. So it was much quieter.
At the beginning of the process, it was just you and a drummer?
- In the beginning it was just me and a sound technician. We sit in a room of ten square meters in front of a computer and just make demos. But everyone who works with music today knows that recording demos is almost like recording a full record. It is no longer the case that you first make an unprofessional cassette recording in the rehearsal room, and then you record it in earnest in a studio.
Most people were probably a little surprised by the news that you collaborated with Jocke Berg from Kent on a couple of songs. How did he get into the bid, and how did he contribute?
- Yes, I worked with him on two songs. ("Kaisarion" and "Respite On The Spitalfields") But no matter who I work with, it works so that I come up with what we can call cuttings to a song. Like nowadays, when I'm collecting songs for album number six, I come up with lots of little ideas that become like cuttings. Something I know is a good idea, something I know can be a good song. It is not finished, and if I had played it for you now, you would have thought “But this is just a little snippet!” But in my head I know that there is enough information in it to make a whole song. Exactly what it looks like, I do not know because we are not recording the song yet. Only then everything is decided. Then I like to bring in people that I like - and I love Jocke, I think he is a phenomenal person and a phenomenal songwriter. I think it's good to bring in a person like him, and then I show a couple of my sketches for songs. My cuttings. 'Here's an idea I have, and here's another idea. Which of them do you like best? This one? All right, then we'll work on it. ' Then we have a brainstorm about where we can take this idea, I say which direction the song should take in my opinion and get feedback, which may suggest a completely different direction, and I'm always interested in hearing that. Because I do not think like the other person, I want to hear input from them, from another angle. It's like when a writer works with an editor. An editor can say that he knows what the writer is going to write, but here the writer has used 3000 words when it could have been 2000 words, and this section here is completely superfluous.
One of the exciting things about the songs on "Impera" I think is that they do not follow the traditional pattern of verse / chorus / verse / chorus / solo / chorus x 3 – instead, suddenly there are completely new parts and key changes towards the end of the song. Is that a consequence of the process you are describing here?
- Yes, in part. One thing I said to everyone I worked with, which I would use as a thought experiment, was that instead of, for example, the Ramones-like riff in "Square Hammer", in many of the songs I would rather we get to an arrangement a’la Def Leppard's "Hysteria", where the song begins with one thing, and then comes another layer, and another layer - and then comes the chorus. Because it is often much harder to achieve. When you have a good verse, you want to come up with a chorus that explodes, and then you change it because it feels natural. But then you come in a very short loop, and it is tricky to put on more stuff. Take, for example, the John Legend song "All Of You". What's so nice about it is that I think there are four parts - first a verse, then something that sounds like a chorus, but then comes the actual chorus, because it culminates with the wailing towards the end. And that's the fourth part, but still with the same chord sequence in the background. That's why it's so wonderful when you get to that party, it's a long journey that ends where you start, instead of the Ramones method of getting from A to B as quickly as possible.
Many of the songs here also seem as if they are tailored for audience participation - was that something you had in mind during the process?
- It's something I've had in mind ever since the first album, really! That the songs should be ... enthusiastic. I just try to make as good songs as possible, and I like big, explosive stadium rock, so to speak. I just try to gather as much material as possible, because if we are ever going to be able to play at Ullevaal Stadium, we have some ammunition, haha!
I understand that you always have a clear theme for a new record ready before you start working with the music?
- Yes, and the theme for "Impera" I have had ready for several years.
Some have called "Impera" a concept album, but it is probably more like songs that are loosely connected by one theme?
- Yes, that’s a better way of putting it. They have a theme that is in a way woven into one mindset, and the contrasts become much clearer if you compare "Impera" with "Prequelle". "Prequelle" was a record where the theme was God's wrath, which is directed at the little man in physical form. It is more medieval, more rotten. "Impera" is more rusty, it is more about a structural decay. It is not about the little individual human being.
Was "Hunter's Moon" part of that theme?
- It's all about empires. And "Hunter's Moon" is about Michael Myers' little empire, his little world where there are other laws that apply, in the psychopath's head. By the way, it was unbelievably cool for me as a fanatical horror movie nerd to be allowed to become a permanent part of the "Halloween" universe!
My favorite on «Impera» is currently «Respite On The Spitalfields». And I know that Spitalfields is a district in London where Jack The Ripper lived in the 1880s. Is that what the text is about?
- Yes, I'm very fascinated by Jack The Ripper. I also think that it has now been revealed who Jack The Ripper was. There is a very qualified guess where all the evidence suggests that it must be this guy, and he is one of those who has received the least attention in the 130 years that have passed since the murders, a guy named Charles Lechmere. He lived and worked in that area, and meets all the traditional requirements to be a serial killer. Today we know so much more about serial killers than then, and all that knowledge has never been used on the suspects. Previously, there was full focus on the suspects who stood out in one way or another.
Yes, everyone from Winston Churchill's grandfather to the king's lifeguard or an English prince.
- Exactly, Prince Albert, the queen's son. Does anyone really think he could move around in this poor neighbourhood without anyone noticing him? Until today, it has been a mystery who he was. And in modern times we have had the luxury of knowing that he is dead. But in 1891, in 1897, in 1905, you did not know. All that was known was that he had probably quit, as the killings did not continue. And "Respite On The Spitalfields" is about exactly this respite after the drama, without knowing that it is over. It is not known for sure if Jack The Ripper is still out on the streets somewhere, or if he is really gone for good.
"Watcher In The Sky" also has a fascinating text. Tell me a little about it.
- It is about those who are convinced that the earth is flat, who try to convert science for its stupidity, quite simply. Those who turn the telescope, not to look at the stars, but to communicate with God.
And tell God he's wrong?
- Precisely. It is also symptomatic of the world we live in. ISIS created a time machine in a way, where they turned the time in Syria back to the 15th century. And in many cases here in the Western world, we have gone back a hundred years. Now we are actually taking an active step towards becoming stupider, because it is so uncomfortable to think about all these things, and it’s  easier to deny reality and create one's own. 'Ignorance is bliss,' it is said, and it's true. And some then almost choose to lobotomize themselves, so you do not have to deal with the problems. It's much easier to just sit there in ignorance and drool.
In recent weeks' concerts, Ghost has only played four songs from "Impera", while there were far more from "Meliora" and "Prequelle". Will you ever play more?
- In the future? Yes, absolutely.
When people have digested the album better?
- Precisely. This is not the only tour. We will be touring on the «lmpera» cycle until September 2023, a total of around 150 concerts. During that time, we will visit the United States four times, and we will do another European tour - and then we will play in other cities than we do in this round. So then we will have plenty of opportunity to tweak the setlist a little. It will probably be the summer of 2023 and within that time some new things will be released as well.
I read once that when you started Ghost, the plan was to bring in another vocalist, and that you would rather play in the band and be a songwriter. Is that right?
-Yes that is correct. At first, I was not so comfortable with the idea of being a front man.
But you are now?
- Yes, absolutely, otherwise all this would have been shit. Now I think it's fantastic.
Is it true that you tried to bring in Messiah Marcolin from Candlemass?
- Correct. But he had other plans. Better plans.
Was it a disappointment or a relief for you when your name and picture came out in the media, and the mystery and anonymity you had built up disappeared?
- I honestly think that most people do not care so much about that. It was not the case that I went straight from one day being completely unknown, and the next day sitting on the couch at Skavlan [popular Norwegian-Swedish talk show]. I'm not a TV celebrity, sort of. I do not feel much more recognized today than I was five years ago.
No, you could probably go out in the hall in Spektrum tonight and not many people would even register that you are there.
- Exactly. There are probably no more than 10-15% of the audience who have read everything and know everything about Ghost, and know all the songs. Many people only know some of the songs and are only here because there is something exciting happening in the city. And for most people, this is not the most important thing in the world - tomorrow is Sunday and they have other plans.
And for many, the most important thing is to check in on social media and show that they are at a concert.
- Yes, exactly!
What do you think when you stand on the stage and look at the sea of mobile phones, people standing with their hands up in the air filming and taking pictures?
- I am sick of this. I do not like it at all. I think it's sad that they cannot try to be present in the moment. I myself am an escapist, I am often mentally somewhere else. But I do not understand that anyone will long for something else when they are at a concert they have paid a few hundred dollars to be present at. I think it was Seinfeld who talked about taking a mental picture - and I often do, because it tastes better. If I take a photograph of something, that picture does not match how I experienced it. But that might say more about my psyche. But I really wish the audience thought more like that too - can they not be here and experience the concert instead? Too many people are too busy documenting that they are at a concert rather than actually being there. It's really disturbing when you stand a little further behind the crowd and see so many screens between you and the stage.
Some artists have introduced a ban on their concerts.
- Yes, I know, but the situation in the industry is now not entirely optimal for such measures. Before covid, we had a long discussion about whether we should introduce a kind of requirement to hand in the mobile phones at the entrance. The problem was that then you also have to put around three dollars more on the ticket price to cover the costs of something like that. And then we had to consider whether it was worth it - would it solve one problem, but create another? And in the current situation, with everything that happens with war and money and gas prices and how difficult it is for all bands with logistics, it is not the right time to create more headwinds with more demands on the audience. This can lead to a lot of people not coming to the concert.
Tool played earlier in the week with a total cell phone ban, and it was sold out.
- Yes, but they sold out all their concerts a year and a half ago. But right now it is too complicated to introduce such a requirement. And our message to the audience, unlike all other bands that cancel their tours because they claim it's not safe, is that we try to make people understand that we're coming because it's safe. You can go to a concert now. It is allowed to have fun again. We'll have a good time and we'll meet each other. We will learn to live together again. We can’t be agoraphobics and germophobes forever. We have to get together for it to be great again. And therefore it is important that we are here, and in this sense it is important that people now actually stand and film and show, so they can show everyone else that 'Look, we are here, and see how happy we are! See how stupid of you to stay home because you're scared!’ Because that's how it has been lately. People are scared and pissed that they have to get the vaccine, and they don’t want to buy concert tickets because they already have eight tickets to concerts that they have not been allowed to go to. But in the future, I hope that we can introduce some kind of restrictions on mobile phones at concerts. I think the experience will be better for everyone involved.

A/N: Not me going into this fic telling myself that I wasn't going to get carried away and then getting extremely carried away. 😂 But I really did have so much fun creating this universe. It also gave me a change to include some of my other MCU faves so that was fun! I feel like I should preface this with the fact that I took every creative freedom known to man with the military aspects of this. It's fanfic we're just here to have a good time haha. Hope you enjoy! Also, shout-out to @buckybarnesevents for hosting this event! xo
MCU Taglist: @garbinge @artemiseamoon (If you want to be added to any of my taglists, please let me know!)
The medics area was controlled chaos. It’d gone from relatively quiet to anything but that when Sam’s team came back from their last mission out. Well, when what was left of Sam’s team had come back. No one had gotten any clear-cut answers yet as to what had happened, but the doctors who were running around tending to everyone’s wounds could take a pretty good guess.
Sam was lying on the table, trying his best to be a good patient as the doctor pulled a piece of shrapnel out of his side. A few centimeters in a different direction, and Sam knew that he wouldn’t have made it back to base. He would’ve been left behind just like—
“Everyone make it back?” Clint asked as he strode up to where Sam was laying, effectively cutting his train of thought short.
Sam’s grip on the bed beneath him tightened as he tried not to move and flinch from the pain of having his wounds tended to. Gritting his teeth, he shook his head as he forced out, “N-not everyone.”
Clint’s brows knit as he looked out over the medical bay. He tried to do a quick headcount, but with all of the moving bodies he knew it wasn’t going to happen. “Who?”
He shut his eyes tightly, partially from the pain, partially from just not wanting to say it. “Rogers.”
Clint’s lips immediately dropped to a frown as Sam’s answer hit him. Clearing his throat, he asked, “Was he alive when you left?”
“Wasn’t gonna be for long.”
He hated how callous it sounded, but he knew that he couldn’t compromise the safety of the rest of his men any more than he already had because there was a slight chance that Steve was going to rally and be able to make it back with them. They’d hardly been able to get themselves out of the hot-zone—there was no chance he was risking going back into it. Not even for Steve.
There were going to be a thousand and one questions that Sam was going to have to answer. Those questions were going to be coming from people that were higher up in the chain of command than either Sam or Clint were. That’s how it always went with ops—if it went wrong, upper command got to come in and give the third degree and ream everyone out, but if it went right, upper command got to reap all the credit for it. It was a flawed system but it was the only one that they all had. None of them were doing this for the credit, anyway.
Sam finally pried his eyes open and looked over at Clint. The pain was still there but there was something else in his expression too as he said, “I didn’t wanna leave him there, Barton, but…”
Clint shook his head. “I know.”
“If I was good enough, or any of my guys, to go back and try to get him out, we would’ve. But you see this,” he gestured with one arm at the rest of the medical bay, “It would’ve been a suicide mission.”
“Think someone else would be able to get him out?” Clint asked.
Sam looked at him, curiosity almost outweighing the pain he was in. Almost. It was like he could almost actually see the cartoon lightbulb appear above Clint’s head. “Maybe. Why?”
“Barnes and his team might be able to get him back.”
Sam’s confusion only intensified. The name sounded familiar, but he couldn’t pinpoint why. “Barnes?”
Clint nodded. “Sergeant Barnes and his team are almost exclusively search and rescue now. Best extraction team we’ve got. They’re dedicated almost solely to getting back soldiers that have been taken or left behind.”
“Success rate?”
“They’re still around, aren’t they?”
Sam couldn’t argue with that logic. He gave Clint a nod, and before he could even give him any kind of direction or next step, Clint was off and searching for the people who would, hopefully, be the solution to their problem.
The doctor who had been tending to him stepped away only a few moments after Clint had left. Sam tried to take advantage of the few seconds where no one was talking to him, prodding at him or stitching him up. He knew that it was the last few seconds of peace that he was going to get for a while now.
A few minutes later, Sam heard a few different sets of footsteps getting closer. Propping himself up on his elbows, he looked to see who it was. His eyes widened slightly at the small team of soldiers heading in his direction. He had to assume that the man leading the pack was the Sergeant that Clint had told him about. He certainly carried himself like someone of importance.
Sam looked him over as he approached, unable to miss the metal arm and hand that was at his side. There was a story there, he knew that for sure. And even though Sam didn’t know what the story was, there was something about it that had him thinking that this man was cut out to survive just about anything.
He strode right up next to the bed that Sam was laying on, the rest of the team except for the woman right next to him falling back. Whoever they were, Sam could tell that they ran like a well-oiled machine. They all did—it was the nature of the job, but sometimes they came across people who just had an extra level to them that not everyone else did. Sam had the feeling that even though Barnes had a small team, each member of it had that extra level.
“Sergeant Barnes?” Sam said it like a question as he held his hand out for him to shake.
He nodded, reaching with his right hand and giving Sam’s a firm shake. “Wilson?”
“Yea.”
Bucky clasped his hands in front of him as he spoke. “Heard a man got left behind.”
Sam felt himself get defensive at the phrasing. There was no malice in Bucky’s tone, or even in his expression, but the wounds were still fresh enough for it to feel like a dig. Sam tried not to act on his emotions as he answered. “Yea, Rogers. It,” he shook his head, “it was a fucking mess out there. It all went sideways so fast. It was either risk everyone, or—”
“I get it,” Bucky cut him off with a nod. “Triage.”
Sam nodded, feeling a little less tense. “Triage.”
Bucky nodded towards the exit of the medic area, “Barton said you thought there was a chance someone could get him out?”
Sam took a deep breath, slowly situating himself so that he was sitting fully upright. “I mean, maybe. It was messy getting out. Explosions, I thought the whole damn thing was going to come down.” He paused, looking at Bucky, then at the rest of his team. “I don’t want to send you guys into something you won’t come out of, but I also can’t sit here and tell you that I don’t want to get my last man back.”
Bucky nodded. “I’ll talk to your captain. Get the coordinates.” He shook Sam’s hand again. “We’ll bring him home.”
There was something about the way that Bucky moved and spoke that had Sam believing him when he wouldn’t have had the same faith in most other people. “Thank you.”
When Bucky walked away, Sam assumed that the rest of his team was going to be short to follow. And most of them were, except for the woman who was still standing by his bedside. She had yet to say anything to him, but Sam knew that she had been studying him the entire time.
Not knowing what else to do, he extended his hand out to her. “Wilson.”
She nodded as she shook his hand, the action brief as she introduced herself. “Romanoff.”
That was a name he recognized. He couldn’t hide it on his face, either. He never knew what circumstances would arise that would ever put the two of them in each other’s paths, but he certainly never thought it would be something like this. He’d heard enough about her, the damage she was capable of inflicting. She was one of the army’s most lethal assets, so Sam couldn’t help but to wonder how she ended up on a team that was dedicated to search and rescue. From the things he’d heard, she should’ve been scorching earth somewhere.
“Didn’t think you did extraction,” he finally said.
She shrugged. “Times change. Got too difficult to sleep—figured I would try to balance the scales a little bit.”
He nodded to where Bucky was standing talking to the commanding officers. “That why he pulled this team together?”
She shook her head. “No. Couple years back, Barnes was the one who got left behind. Cost him his arm, almost cost him his life.” She took a deep breath as she watched Bucky looking through the files he was being handed. “No one came for him—he got himself out. No one in their right mind thought that he was going to try and come back after what he’d been through, but he did. This team was his idea, and he was convincing enough that nobody was telling him no.”
“That how he got you to say yes?” he asked. “Or did you go to him?”
A tiny smirk curled her lips. “Depends who you ask.” She paused, looking back to Sam after looking at Bucky. “I went to him.” She gripped the edges of the tac-vest strapped across her chest. “We get a forty-eight hour window to go in and do what we get sent in to do before we’re declared missing or killed in action. Hasn’t come to that yet, though. We keep it simple—recovery only, no extra frills.”
Sam had a million more questions that he wanted to ask her, but he didn’t get the chance as Bucky called over, “Romanoff. Let’s go.”
Looking back over at Bucky, she nodded to let him know that she’d heard him before turning her attention back to Sam. “We’ll get him back.”
Sam nodded. “I believe you.”
Bucky was behind the wheel as they made their way towards the coordinates that they had been given. Natasha rode shotgun while the rest of their team rode in the back of the covered truck. They went over the run-down of the plan, the alternatives for if and when things inevitably hit the fan. The specifics changed with each mission, but the general layout was always the same. Their designated roles had worked well so far. If it’s not broke, no need to try and fix it.
“You’re quieter than usual,” Natasha spoke up as she watched Bucky staring intently at the land surrounding the road they were on.
He shook his head, not looking over at her as he said, “Just focused.”
She frowned, not believing him but not looking to cause an argument when they were approaching such a precarious point. She conceded with a simple, “Okay,” and decided that if she was going to press him about it, she’d do it later.
Sam and his team hadn’t been lying about the carnage. Sam’s team might’ve been the ones that had to retreat, but it looked like whoever they had run up against had lost their fair share of men in the mess of it all anyway. There were buildings on their last legs, and Bucky had the pervasive feeling that they were going to have to go into one of them to find who they were looking for. It wouldn’t be the worst setting they found themselves in, but the inherent lack of structural stability put a whole other layer of danger on top of whoever they might find themselves up against.
The deeper they went into the zone, the more Bucky couldn’t help but to think that Sam’s team was lucky that everyone else had made it out alive. The injuries it all caused were going to be quite the thing to contend with, but judging by the debris, it was a miracle that only one man got left behind. More than that, it was something else entirely that he might still be alive.
Once they reached the site, Bucky found himself following the footprints left behind until he came across the blood. The longer that he followed that trail, with each hallway and stairwell he came across, the more unlikely it became that when he found Steve that he was going to be alive. He didn’t give up hope, though—he knew better than that. Plus, no matter what the outcome was, Bucky knew that he wasn’t going back to the base empty-handed. Everyone deserved answers, closure, no matter how the situation ended up playing out.
Natasha and Bucky were paired up as usual, always the ones to go deepest into the mess, only calling for the next pair in the stagger if things got too volatile for just the two of them to handle alone. They moved quickly but cautiously, trying to make their footfalls as silent as possible as they traversed the rocks and rubble left behind by everything that had happened earlier.
They both froze when they heard the sound of footsteps, other voices not terribly close by, but still too close for comfort. They were a few hallways away. Bucky and Natasha stood and waited, hoping that they would pass, recede far enough to the point where they wouldn’t be a tangible threat to them anymore, just a looming one. After a few more moments, they both came to the conclusion at the same time that while whoever it was, wasn’t getting closer, they also weren’t retreating either.
“Go,” Natasha whispered with a nod. “I’ll backtrack and post up in case they get too close.”
“We don’t split up,” he argued quietly.
She shook her head. “I won’t be far. Besides, judging by the blood,” she nodded towards the red streaks on the ground, “we aren’t far from him.”
“If things go wrong—”
“You’ll hear it,” she finished the sentence for him, although it wasn’t what he was actually going to say. “Go. We’re all short on time, but Rogers especially.”
Bucky knew that she was right, that there was no time to argue. He was just going to have to trust that if things really did start going south, she would handle it or he would be able to get back to her in time to help her handle it. They’d always figured it out so far.
He followed the trail to the end of the hallway until he came to a closed door. He lowered his gun for a moment, holding it with just one hand as he used the other to reach for the doorknob. It wasn’t locked, but when he tried to push the door open, he was met with resistance. Something was behind it—Steve was attempting to block anyone from getting it. It would’ve been a smart move if Bucky had been someone who wasn’t there to rescue him.
The impulse to barge clean through the door was there. It would’ve been easy to do, but it also would’ve stripped away any anonymity that their team still had. So, instead, he slowly tried to force the door open. There was resistance, but he was able to get it part of the way open. He almost had it opened enough to get in when he heard someone moving on the other side, and then felt someone pushing back against him.
He froze for a moment, trying to think of what the next best move would be. He pushed against the door again, listening intently to try and catch any other sounds coming from the other side. When he gave another small push, he heard someone let out a grunt of pain. It was reassuring in a strange way, because it meant that it was most likely the injured man he was looking for, not someone else who was looking to harm everyone present.
“Rogers?” Bucky spoke quietly as he pressed his shoulder into the door again. He paused and waited for a response he assumed wasn’t going to come. “Wilson sent me.” Another small push. Another lack of response from the person on the other side of the door. “My name is Sergeant Barnes. I’m here to get you home.”
It was silent for a few more seconds, and it crossed Bucky’s mind that he might just have to push his way in and hope for the best. It wouldn’t be the first time that someone fought back against being rescued out of fear. He couldn’t blame them, these people who were left to their own devices and taught that when in doubt, assume everyone is a threat, were just doing what they had been trained to do. He was asking them to go against all those months of training, against the rewiring of their instincts. It wasn’t easy—he knew that firsthand.
“I’m gonna push the door open,” he said honestly, “so you should probably move.”
Much to Bucky’s surprise, he could hear shuffling behind the door. He wasn’t naïve enough to think that that meant he wasn’t going to be met with any kind of resistance when he entered, but it was a win for now. Taking a deep breath, he gave another push, enough to make the doorway wide enough for him to slip through with ease.
Once he was inside, he brought his other hand back to his gun. He didn’t raise it, didn’t want to put that energy out there, but he also needed to be ready for the worst-case scenario. Looking around, he didn’t immediately see the man he’d been sent to rescue. Bucky assumed that he was crouched behind something, ducking and waiting to be on the defensive. That’s what Bucky would’ve done if the roles were reversed.
“Rogers?” he said, voice still quiet. He took a couple slow, calculated steps deeper into the room. “We don’t have a lot of time. You know that better than anyone, right?” Another step. “So, let’s get you out of here.”
Bucky could hear Steve’s breathing now, labored and shallow. He stepped around an overturned cabinet and came face-to-face with the whole reason anyone came back at all. Steve was sitting on the ground, back against the wall, gun pointed directly at Bucky’s head.
Bucky held his hands up in surrender for a moment before slowly moving to holster his gun, telling Steve exactly what he was doing as he was doing it. Neither of them took their eyes off the other. Bucky had skimmed over Steve’s file. What he’d read didn’t sync up with the man shuddering in front of him, and that’s how he knew how dire the situation really was. While Steve’s eyes didn’t waver from Bucky’s face, Bucky couldn’t help but to notice the fact that there was blood coming from Steve’s side, and from his thigh. At first glance, he couldn’t tell if it was shrapnel or if they were bullet wounds—there was too much blood. That was for the medics to figure out anyway.
“We’re just here to help, Rogers.”
Steve’s hands were shaking around his gun, from nerves or blood loss was anyone’s guess. “Sam sent you?” he asked, finally speaking even though his voice came out strained.
Bucky nodded, relief showing in every facet of his body and facial expression. “He did.”
The trembling in Steve’s hands intensified for a moment and then he finally lowered his gun. His muscles went slack, and suddenly he looked even smaller than he had before, which was an impressive feat for a man who wasn’t small at all.
Neither of them said anything as Bucky crouched down to help get Steve back on his feet. Bucky draped Steve’s arm over his shoulders, slipping his own arm across Steve’s back to brace him. The metal of his hand was harsh against the bruised and scraped skin of Steve’s back, but they both knew that the little bit of extra strength and power was going to be what allowed Bucky to keep Steve upright, what would give them the ability to get out fast enough so that they didn’t lose their window.
Steve was gripping onto the fabric that covered Bucky’s shoulder, balling it in his fist like it was an anchor. Every limped step forward towards the door felt like a herculean effort. It crossed his mind that he had done all this work to get so far away from it all, trying to get out of harm’s way, and now he was going to have to double-back and go through it all over again. He didn’t know if he was going to have the strength for that. He didn’t know if he was going to make it, if the blood loss was finally going to get to him.
“You with me?” Bucky asked, almost like he could hear Steve’s thoughts.
“Sarge, I don’t know if—”
“Bucky,” he cut Steve’s thought short.
“What?”
Bucky grunted as he pulled the door open a little wider to allow them both to slip through without causing Steve to slam any of his injuries against the doorframe in the process. “Call me Bucky. Everyone on my team calls me Bucky, and you’re on my team now.”
Steve nodded, trying as best he could to help them both get through the door and down the hall in the most coordinated fashion that they could manage. “Bucky, I don’t know if I’m going to make it back.”
“You will,” he said with all the certainty in the world.
“But—”
“I’ve never lost a member of my team, Rogers. Everyone always makes it home.” The one way or another was implied, but Bucky never left anyone behind. That was the whole point of it, after all.
Steve tried to take a deep breath, tried not to think about how unsteady it was, the way that it stuttered in his throat on the way down. He knew better than to waste energy on arguing with the man who was carrying him, especially when he didn’t have any energy to spare, and also when it seemed like Bucky wasn’t the type of man to lose an argument.
They were just about to reach the end of the hallway when the muffled quiet of the building was broken by the sounds of gunfire. Both Bucky and Steve hesitated at the same time. They looked at each other, each trying to figure out what the best plan of action was going to be.
“Could use a hand out here, Bucky!” Natasha’s voice rose above all the rest of it.
“Fuck,” Bucky cursed under his breath. He looked at Steve, determination in his eyes and the set of his jaw as he said, “We’re gonna keep going.”
“You can’t risk that,” Steve argued, not that it mattered much because Bucky was still continuing to get them both down the hallway. “It’s not,” he sucked in a breath, “it’s not worth it. You need to get your team out of here.”
“You’re my team too.”
Steve admired the attempt Bucky was making to try and give him something extra to cling onto, but in Steve’s mind it wasn’t the time for that. “Your real team.”
Bucky shook his head as he reached with his free hand to unholster his gun. “We don’t leave anyone behind.”
The gunfire got louder the closer they got to it. Steve hadn’t ever felt so useless. He reached for his weapon as well, knowing full-well that if push came to shove it wasn’t going to do him much good. Still, he couldn’t go into a firefight empty-handed.
Natasha spared a split-second glance over her shoulder when she heard the footsteps behind her, just long enough to confirm that it was someone who was on her side. “Good,” she said, eyes already back facing front as she quickly reloaded her gun, “you found him.”
“Yea,” Bucky waited until he saw a flash of someone trying to dart from one room to the other, pulling the trigger and being rewarded with the sight of them collapsing to the floor. “He tried to tell me to leave him.”
She shook her head, still leading their little trio and firing as she went. “We don’t do that.”
They were almost to the stairwell, almost to a few precious moments of safety, when there was a gunshot that was followed by the sound of Steve letting out a grunt of pain. He slumped even heavier against Bucky, nearly causing them both to go down. Bucky managed to brace himself, knowing that he needed to figure out what just happened but he wasn’t going to be doing triage in the middle of a gunfight.
“Nat,” he said.
That was all she needed. “Got it,” she responded with a nod as she maneuvered so that she was standing behind them, covering their backs while Bucky got them to the door that put them in the stairwell. It felt like it took longer to cover the last few feet of the hall than everything else leading up to that moment combined.
The door clanged shut behind the three of them and it was only then that Bucky let out the breath he’d been holding. He slowly lowered Steve to the ground so he could try and get a better look at his injuries.
“Where?” Bucky asked as he looked Steve over.
Steve winced through the pain as he brought his hand to his thigh, the same one that was already injured. Sure enough, Bucky could see the fresh blood that was coming out of it. His mind was going at a mile a minute as he tried to figure out what to do, trying to come up with something that he could tie it off with.
“Here.” Natasha tossed him the rope she carried in the pack that was strapped to her. Every member of the team carried some version of an escape tool along with their weapons. It was just good logistics. “Cut a piece of that and tie his leg off.”
Bucky was grabbing his knife to do it before she even finished the direction. Steve watched him, shaking his head. All the effort they were putting in and he still had the feeling that he wasn’t going to make it anyway.
“You two should go,” he said, gritting his teeth as he felt Bucky starting to tie the rope off around his leg. “Get yourselves back while you can.”
“That’s not how it works,” Bucky said as he tightened the rope just a little more, causing Steve to squirm.
“Bucky—”
Bucky pried his eyes away from Steve’s bleeding leg to look into his eyes. The resoluteness in them was enough to silence him before Bucky even said anything. “If one of us makes it back,” he put his hand on Steve’s shoulder, “we both do. If one of us stays behind,” his grip tightened just slightly, “we both do. I told you—I don’t leave anyone behind. I won’t leave without you.”
Steve wanted to argue it. The words were on the tip of his tongue, but there was something about the tone of Bucky’s voice and the look in his eyes that kept him silent. Steve could tell that everything that Bucky was saying to him, he really meant it. It wasn’t just lip-service.
“We’re in this together until we both make it home. ‘Til the end of the line, alright?”
Steve swallowed hard, trying to muster up what little strength he still had. “Alright,” he let Bucky get him back to his feet, “’Til the end of the line.”
Getting down the stairs and out of the building wasn’t easy. The only saving grace was that by the time they hit the ground floor of the building they were in, the next two members of Bucky’s team were there and ready to tag in, help cover them with enough fire to make sure that they all got out alive. It freed Natasha up to help Bucky all but carry Steve out of the building and to their truck. Both of them could feel the way that Steve was supporting himself less and less as the seconds passed, but neither of them commented on it. There was nothing helpful to say about it, so they said nothing at all.
One of Bucky’s men was already behind the wheel, keys in the ignition and engine on in preparation for a quick take-off. That was always the way they operated. Bucky drove them all in, and someone else always drove them all out. A well-oiled machine.
The back tires of their truck kicked up all manner of dust and rocks as they sped off. They could hear the pinging of bullets off the enforced sides of their covered truck as they got away. It only lasted for a short time, the people who were shooting at weren’t that determined to get them. The entire team was considering themselves lucky for that.
Once the bullets stopped, it was silent except for the thrum of the truck’s engine and the tires gripping up the dirt on the road beneath them. No one said anything, which wasn’t unusual. There wasn’t always much to say after a mission. And in this case, like many of them, the mission wasn’t over. There was a lot hanging in the balance on the ride between where they were now and the base that they needed to get to.
They had Steve lying across the seats on one side of the truck, trying to keep him as level and steady as possible. Bucky was watching the wounds in his leg carefully. The rope did a decent enough job of slowing the blood for not being a real tourniquet.
Bucky could see the way that the color was continuing to drain from Steve’s face. He gently shook his shoulder, trying to keep him from slipping into total unconsciousness. “Rogers, come on, stay with me.”
He coughed, eyes still closed. “Steve.”
“What?”
“My name is Steve. My friends call me Steve.”
“Alright, Steve,” Bucky corrected himself, nodding even though Steve’s eyes weren’t open, “stay with me.”
All the begging and bargaining in the world wasn’t going to change how things were going to play out, so Bucky didn’t bother. Instead, he did what he could. He tried to keep Steve awake, tried to ask him questions that he could give one-word answers to in order to keep him talking. He was partially successful, Steve faded in and out a couple times but he kept coming back.
When the truck rolled to a stop back on base, it’d hardly been put in park before medics were ripping the back door of it open. They fired off questions as they carried him inside, questions that Bucky answered with the most precision he could offer.
Within seconds, they’d whisked Steve off to take care of him. Out of sight, certainly not out of mind. Bucky could’ve waited, paced just on the side of the medical bay where he was allowed. Instead, he wove his way back through until he found Sam again still lying on his bed but in much better condition than when Bucky had seen him hours beforehand.
Sam heard Bucky’s footsteps before he saw him, and for a moment he didn’t want to turn and face him, afraid of what the news was going to be. He knew that he couldn’t avoid it forever, though. So he slowly turned, unable to say anything, unable to breathe, counting on Bucky to say something first.
“We got him back,” Bucky said with a nod.
Sam’s body went lax with relief against the mattress. He got himself sitting upright, reaching out and clutching Bucky’s hand in his own, pulling him into a brief embrace. “Thank you.”
Bucky nodded as he took a step back. “It’s what we all do.”
Sam noticed the way that Bucky was looking around, looking towards the door. “You should stay,” he said, “should be here when he wakes up.”
Bucky hesitated for a moment. So often it was one thing and then right off onto the next. There was always more to do, more people to save. But he could spare a few hours, he supposed, before heading off again. If he had to leave, then he would, but for the moment he didn’t see any reason why he couldn’t try to linger and wait.
“Okay.”
Sam gave a nod. “Okay.”
It wasn’t nearly as long as Bucky thought it was going to be. Before he knew it, Steve was stirring in the bed beside the chair that Bucky found himself sitting in. He was nose-deep in a personnel file, Steve’s to be exact.
Steve blinked slowly a few times, eyes adjusting to the light, brain adjusting to consciousness. “Bucky?”
He lifted his eyes from the folder in his hands, letting it drop to his lap as he looked over at Steve. “Told you we’d make it back.”
Steve chuckled, nodding as he slowly shifted himself so that he was sitting somewhat upright. “You did say that, yea.” He cleared his throat, wincing slightly as he did. “Thank you, for saving me.”
Bucky never really knew how to handle the thank-you’s. It wasn’t what he did it for, but he knew that they always came. “Every man in, every man out.”
“Every time?” Steve asked.
He nodded. “Every time.”
Steve let his head rest back against the wall, letting his eyes shut for a moment. “Your team is lucky.”
Bucky let out a small chuckle. Lucky wasn’t exactly the word he’d use to describe his team, not with some of the asks that he put on them, not with the circumstances he dropped in their laps on a regular basis. “Don’t know if they’d say the same thing.”
“They would,” Steve replied, a certainty in his voice that Bucky hadn’t had the opportunity to head when he was knocking on death’s door.
“I told you, Steve, you’re part of that team now too.”
Steve nodded, still not opening his eyes, still not turning to look directly at Bucky. “Guess that means I’m also lucky.”

Rules/Guidelines and Schedule of Events
Below you'll find an explanation of our fest's definition of crack!fic and a quick run down of the rules. Please feel free to peruse while we anxiously await the start of prompting on June 8. More info will be posted with each leg of the fest (prompting, claiming, etc.), so look out for more to come as we go!
Tumblr media
So what is crack!fic, anyway?
First and foremost, I wanted to give a little explanation as to what I will be defining as crack!fic for the purposes of this fest, and therefore what will be accepted as far as prompts and submissions. Let's just say, I'm a pretty...enthusiastic reader of crack!fic. 😂 And I've seen so many different takes on it.
So, what is crack!fic? Well, Fanlore defines it as "fanworks with a fundamentally ludicrous premise, or otherwise including a plethora of unbelievable, incredible, or just plain silly elements" (for a more in depth look at their definition, you can find the full article here). Of course, there is also the origin of the term: that the author must have been on some kind of substance to write what they wrote. But for my part, I feel we've moved past that idea over the years, and I'm definitely not trying to reference it that way here.
Crack!fic can be humorous. It can be PWP. It can be weird, ridiculous, or far-fetched. It can be an odd pairing. It can be the unusual - or over-the-top - way the characters are behaving, or how they handle the strange scenario they've been written into. You can pair it with other, not necessarily cracky, genres - like angst, darkfic, fluff, and so much more. I especially love the tag "crack taken seriously". It can be a crossover or an AU. You could take it to a horror place, if you wanted! I once wrote Narcissa having a sexual relationship with a demonic entity - I didn't label it as crack!fic (and I still wouldn't even now), but trust me, I'm aware that it kind of was. Some texting or email-based fics could fall under this umbrella. I've even seen meme!fics recently - and yeah, love that!
So long story short: what will be accepted for prompts and submissions? Quite a lot, haha. This fest is all about having fun - as long as you're having fun, everything's good! There are so many different ways you can go with crack!fic, and I encourage us all to take it wherever our muses wish!
If you're ever finding yourself unsure as to what you can prompt for or submit, please, always feel free to reach out and ask! I would be happy to clarify, whenever needed.
Rules/Guidelines
Please see the schedule of events at the top of this post.
Obviously, this fest is all about crack!fic, so every prompt and piece submitted must feature at least a hint of that idea. As you can see above, that idea is pretty broad, haha.
However, I want to be clear: you are in no way required to tag your fic as crack!fic (or any variation), either on AO3 or in your header. Throwing it back to the example of my own questionably cracky work above, I didn't label it that way, but I do know it can be viewed that way. As long as you are capturing the essence of the fun and fancy-freeness of this fest, you are good to go.
All participants must be over the age of 18.
Prompts can be claimed from the list of those which were submitted, or you can opt to use your own prompt.
Prompts may only be claimed once. This fest is fic-only, so no art, unless you want to submit it along with your fic! I'm so, so sorry to all the artists out there - I just wasn't sure how to fit it in with the theme at this time. However, this may change in the future, and I'll let you all know if it does.
There will be space provided on the prompt form for you to list any preferences you may have for the fill you'd like to see, from rating, to plot, likes/dislikes, etc.
Everything must be betaed, proof-read, checked, and/or edited. There are no minimum requirements, so long as the work you submit is in a finished and polished state.
If you don’t have a beta, I always recommend asking in any of the various fanfic writers’ groups out there! You can try the oldies but goodies like and , but also any one of the many Facebook and Discord groups that have popped up in recent years! (If you need invites/recommendations for any of those, please let me know, I’d be happy to help.) In keeping with the stress free style of this fest, your beta is not necessarily required to be someone official in fandom; if you’d be more comfortable having a friend or family member look everything over, you are welcome to have them do so!
Once you have submitted your piece, feel free to select another one! (And I definitely encourage this, as I'd love nothing more than to see a slew of crack!fic goodness in my inbox! ;D)
Posting will be anonymous, so please don't give the game away by posting anywhere else, or replying to comments, or hinting on your socials until after reveals. Also, because this is an anonymous fest, the piece you submit must be a complete, stand-alone work and can't be based on any of your other works, prequels, sequels, etc.
All submissions will be hosted on AO3, at the HP Crack!Fic Fest collection. Feel free to check it out, but please only post your submissions there yourself if you are 100% sure you know how. One mistake can make the difference between your fic being posted before its time, so if you find yourself unsure of how to do this in any way, please feel free to send everything to the mod email, and I will take care of it. More info will be coming on how to submit your work as we get closer to the due date - either to the collection, or to the mod.
In order to properly submit your finished work for this fest, you will be required to add the mod account on AO3 as a co-creator. The mod account is hpcfmod. A more detailed explanation for why this will now be a strict rule going forward in any and all fests I run can be found on my announcement for Ron/Draco Fest 2021. I'm always here to answer questions, so if you're concerned about anything at all, please feel free to reach out to me!
Headers with a link back to AO3 will be posted here on Tumblr.
Last but not least, this is a totally stress free fest! Need an extension? No problem, send me an email, and we'll work something out! Need to drop out? While I'd be sad to see you go, I'm definitely a person who gets that life happens. All I ask is that you let me know as soon as you can. Basically, don't be afraid to reach out to me if you need something! I'm here to help, as best I can. :)
More info to come as we move through the events!
If you have any questions/comments/concerns, feel free to shoot me an email at [email protected]!
Your mod, @fangqueen
