hey! just wondering, do you know what was doujin scene was like for db in its early history? like before Z started airing/the saiyan saga started getting published? what characters were most popular, what dynamics were getting written about, what the tone of works was, if it even had a convention presence at all etc. thank you!
Kami fucking Dende you're asking me to go back to pre-1988 lmaooo I'm a good archeologist bue that's woah. You guys know I'm old, but not that old right?!
(Reminder that the chapter in which Vegeta kills Cui on Namek came out in the Weekly Shonen Jump just before the Berlin wall fell)
So I did some digging to find stuff published before 1990 to have a glance at what existed, some stuff did make it to online catalogues, and truth is that the scene was still in its infancy back then, especially for a gag shonen that didn't have many pairing options. The doujin scene truly went big from 1996 onwards (aka when the Comiket moved to a larger exposition center).
Even Orange Juice 2 which came out in July 89 still has Raditz stuff in it...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was drawn by Junya Furusawa (pen name Furujun) by the way, who was a big GoChi doujin guy.. He later did a looooot of promo art. Some of which you may know ;-) He kept doing fanart for his own enjoyment though. (in order: GoChi stuff from 91 and two promo arts he did for Toei/Shueisha)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(We owe this guy a lot, F in the chat please)
Anyway back to the 80s.
I surprisingly found someone who did a lot of Tenshinhan & Chiaotzu (Chaozu) stuff back then. And I do mean & and not / eh xD
Here's the thing; I believe those who were active 35 years ago probably moved on to other projects and left their doujin years behind them; it's kind of like your party days in your 20s, they use pen names and the stuff they created quietly falls in oblivion... If they made it to the pro-world of mangakas and assistants. Even more so if they made it to the corporate "proper job" world!
I will ask though, just in case something appears!
Thanks for the question!

Honestly, this is exactly what I expected and I’m DELIGHTED.
(I’ll use my own readmore because I fully intend on talking a lot. Consider yourself forewarned.)
That Morred’s personal history is Fedsy’s hangup is expected, but also incredibly interesting given... well, Morred’s personal history.
Morred’s feelings about the Nightmare are... complicated. Messy. There’s a looooot of baggage there and he hasn’t unpacked most of it. For starters, though Morred is and would call himself ex-Nightmare, he doesn’t actually want to distance himself from the Nightmare whatsoever. He is very quick to remind friends and familiar faces where exactly he comes from. He has a deep revulsion toward the idea of being categorized alongside Dreamers and the Grove. As far as Morred is concerned, the Courts are his people and his culture; he might have left that life behind, but you can’t form an understanding of who he is without considering where he came from.
But... he was never really at home in the Nightmare, was he? To someone as sensitive to Dream empathy as Morred was, the Courts were a living hell. On top of that, Morred is a shitty little anarchist who chafed against the complicated hierarchies and constant power struggles... and on top of THAT, he dislikes how manipulative the Nightmare can be, as a dark mirror to the Tree. There’s a lot about the Nightmare that Morred haaaaates.
Morred was only member of a Court for a short time - just long enough to exhaust the research opportunities he could find there. As soon as he realized there was nothing more to learn here, he fucked off to live his best life abroad. So Morred was always just as much an outsider in the Nightmare as he had been in the Grove.
Anyway. He doesn’t broadcast his history to strangers, especially not to other Sylvari - he knows Courtiers are kill-on-sight to many and he would really rather not get murdered about it.
So I guess it depends on whether he picks up on Fedsy’s hangup before or after he feels comfortable enough to share his past. It also depends on how defensive Morred wants to be once he realizes this is such an issue.
I’ll stop rambling about Morred and the Nightmare now, this wasn’t even the POINT of the EXCERCISE -
THE REAL STUFF STARTS HERE.
I’m amused by the idea that both of these ponytail twinks are slow to trust, occasionally volatile, and prone to ‘testing’ people they’re Not Sure About. (Oh boy is Morred guilty of that. If he’s interested but wary, he will constantly prod and poke, trying to provoke a reaction he can use to measure you by.)
The biggest differences I see are that Fedsy tends to be more emotionally driven, whereas Morred can be very calculated when he wishes; and that Fedsy wants to be sulky and sour, whereas Morred might sulk for a bit but has a hard time disliking anyone for very long.
I like the idea that it starts with curiosity. They meet and initially like each other; look, here’s someone fun and chaotic with a similar taste for discovery and lack of wise limits. They have fun and get into some mischief...
UNTIL it comes out that Morred is ex-Nightmare, and Fedsy hates the Nightmare. That’s when the knives come out!!! Fedsy makes a federal issue about it; meanwhile Morred is unable to say “no no, that’s not me anymore!”, yet resents being judged so entirely by his former affiliation. Sharp words and sharp objects are thrown in both directions. The gays are fightingggg
Then their enmity is EXACTLY WHAT YOU SAY. They’re bitter enemies whose rivalry can be interrupted in instant by “whoa what WAS that spell you attacked me with? that was cool! do it again!”, or by the need to mutually crush someone they both can’t stand, or by a really interesting bug that walks by. Oh, the distraction’s over? Back to fighting. We hate each other. We’re best friends. We hate each other. We’ve taken over somebody else’s laboratory to work on a mutual project to invent something chaotic. We’re complimenting each other’s fashion. We hate each other. It’s volatile and nobody can keep up with it.
I’m snickering at the idea that one of them gets invited to a party or receives tickets to some live performance, but there’s two tickets or they need a plus-one so they go “oh, I’ll bring Fedsy/Morred, he enjoys this kind of thing”. Everyone watches the Sworn Enemies walk in together, the atmosphere is Tangible Confusion, “did you make up???”  “Oh, no, but I know he loves these events -” Maybe there’s a truce to avoid ruining the night. Maybe they beat each other up anyway. Maybe they weaponize serving utensils and décor.
(Morred thrives in this kind of relationship; he loves the drama, the suspense, the plot twists. It keeps him interested, it keeps him from getting bored and moving on to someone more exciting.)
Eventually they probably do become friends - maybe Fedsy starts to realize Morred’s history with the Nightmare wasn’t so cut-and-dry; maybe Morred starts to actually grow fond and more careful of Fedsy’s wellbeing; maybe a third party gets sick of the nonsense and cracks their heads together to make them CHILL, GODDAMNIT. I think it takes a while to reach this point, but I think it happens.
The friendship is just as volatile as the rivalry, though. I don’t think either of these idiots is capable of truly chilling out. There’s still moments when “we’re not talking >:[ ” or when they’re too much on the same wavelength and invent that dagger that heals you.
Overall, I feel like their shared intensity is best in a relationship that only crops up occasionally. This isn’t constant companionship; this is a “we run into each other twice a month” sort of situation. Maybe Fedsy decides to go for murder but gets distracted asking questions about Morred’s current project. Maybe Morred  runs to Fedsy to show off a new toy he invented, and the demonstration devolves into murder. Maybe they unexpectedly meet at a mutual friend’s birthday party and anything could happen. The once-in-a-while meetups are like Bastard Enrichment, time to go wild and let out all their pent-up chaos energy; then they both go home to their guardians and keepers, calm down and live their respective lives until the next playdate.
I gotta toss you Morred. I think that there's a lot of untapped potential between "curious-to-a-fault Chaotic Little Guy artificer" and "curious-to-a-fault Chaotic Little Guy alchemist", and I want to watch the world burn -@alma-draws
OK. THIS IS AN INTERESTING ONE.
They'd be great friends if not for Morreds past. Anything more? God FORBID. Feds needs calming the heck down not hyping up MORE!!
I gotta start adding readmores to my walls, bear with me.

I've noticed after a while (and many posts) that you include Fuyumi-trying-not-to-resemble-her-mother in many of your tags, and I really want to hear your thoughts on that whole character dynamic. Or how you headcannon Fuyumi in general, I'd just like to know more and I haven't seen a lot of people delve into her character. It's always one of the brothers.
*vibrates at a totally normal speed* I would love to talk about Fuyumi yes
Warning: the following headcanons contain a decent bit of projecting. Is it me being a teacher? An eldest daughter? My complicated relationship with the idea of a "traditional family"? Probably all of it
First, if you don't mind a plug, I wrote a oneshot that has like 90 percent of all my fuyumi headcanons in it, The Walls Are Thin, and so. Obvious my headcanon that she's Touya's younger twin has been disproven but I like it a lot so,,, I don't care
So, there are some things about Fuyumi that didn't make it into the anime- manga!Yumi has blue eyes like Enji and Touya, and her arm was also bandaged in the flashback soccer scene when Shoto is talking about their abusive childhood which is very interesting to me.
Now, as for Fuyumi and Rei- I don't think Fuyumi hates her mother. I don't even think she hates her mother but is ok with full reconciliation like she is with her father. But I do think they have a very complicated relationship. Rei was institutionalized when Fuyumi was eleven, and from that moment on Fuyumi basically had to take over the raising of her brothers. Fuyumi lost her mother at eleven and then had to become one herself, because Rei burned her littlest brother.
Fuyumi was a child- and here's the thing. Rei's breakdown was sudden, but not surprising. She looked bad in the flashback right before it, she was begging her own mother for help. She looked sleep deprived and skittish. So even before Rei was sent away, I don't know how much she was actually mothering Fuyumi. Shoto can't really tell us that, and Fuyumi... Doesn't seem to want to think much on her past or give flashbacks to the two of them. So when Fuyumi is eleven, is ten, is nine- she's seeing this happen to her mother as a process. Rei is fading away, and Fuyumi is right at the age to actually begin to sort of understand it and be scared.
Shoto is aware that the marriage was motivated primarily to get a quirk like his. I see no reason that Fuyumi would be unaware of this ether, even when she was younger.
A lot of mental health problems can be hereditary- I remember my mother talking to me about her health history and her own mom's health history bc there's a looooot of problems there lol but Fuyumi didnt get that. She got to see her mother stuck in a hospital for a decade for a breakdown. She got to learn in school that those kinds of things can be passed down to children just like quirks. I'd bet anything that Fuyumi is terrified of having a breakdown like that. Of being like her mother- someone who cared for children that she couldn't protect from Enji for ten years or so, then being locked away when she finally snapped.
There's also her status as only daughter- besides the fact that all the wifely duties were put on her, there are still more expectations. Touya is dead, Natsuo is so ignored he didn't need to be disowned, Shoto is primed only to be one thing: the number one hero. Fuyumi, who has been mothering since she was eleven, would be looked to first for grandchildren.
This isn't to say that Enji ever expressed a single care about that- I doubt he did. But Fuyumi's grandmother was seen in some early flashbacks. I'm not sure if that was Rei or Enji's mother, but either way... Well, she'd certainly talk about how pretty she was. How sweet. How good to her brothers now that her poor mother is away. How obedient a daughter. And even if this grandmother doesn't talk about a quirk marriage explicitly, Fuyumi knows that she either raised a man who looked for one by the age of twenty, or was wholly complicit in her daughter getting one.
Even if, logically, Fuyumi knows her father wouldn't arrange her one- either because she's more useful at the house, or he doesn't pay enough attention, or he's going through a post Kamino character development- there's the fact that she also knows It's Not Impossible. She knows that if her family is as high up as it is and utterly rotten inside, there could be lots of people like that in their social circles. There could be someone who has that sort of interest in her.
Anyway, all that gives Fuyumi some very, very complicated feelings on motherhood and marriage. I don't think she wants either. Ever. She's a teacher, so she likes to work with kids- but we know a part of that is to make up for not being able to help her little brothers. She's full of guilt. I don't think she'd ever be interested in romance or anything else with a man, after seeing how it turned on and utterly broke Rei. And while I do sometimes have Fuyumi as lesbian, I also really think she might be aroace. This adds fun spice where she asks herself things like "wait is this just my trauma or my actual identity" and haha same I'm sorry I project on her a lot anyway sorry Fuyumi,,, you deserve a happy life. A normal life. But you don't get one ♥️
And the normal life thing- that's because Fuyumi is tired. She's tired of being a mother to her brothers. She's tired of having the responsibility of parenting without any of the power or control. She wants to be treated like a normal daughter and sister. And that can't happen if her brothers, esp Natsuo who she saw even more, keeps fully crediting his raising to her. Even if it's the truth, and even if Natsuo loves their mother and had no problem with her- he certainly wouldn't claim Rei influenced him more than Fuyumi did. That's why she's so desperate specifically for him to reconcile.
And she did see Natsuo more- but I think Fuyumi is also very close to Shoto. Closer than he thinks. Not just because her first two appearances are just her trying to protect Shoto by warning him when Enji is pissed off or when he will be, though that certainly helps- she's rather attuned to that stuff, and at least sorta used to Shoto sometimes listening to her about that kind of advice. But Shoto is being shaped deliberately to basically be Enji 2.0 . He has no choice but to be a hero. He has no choice but to train hard and get strong. He's supposed to beat All Might in a rivalry. All that stuff. Fuyumi, likewise, is shaped to be Rei 2.0. Take care of the children. Be soft. Not cut out for heroics. Not able to stop Enji from doing anything. Support Shoto. Cook. Clean. Take over when the housekeeper leaves, because why hire another one when there's a fourteen, fifteen, sixteen year old who can do it? Don't go to anyone for help, because no one who can help you will believe you or want to help you.
Shoto is supposed to succeed where Endeavor failed against All Might.
Fuyumi is supposed to succeed where Rei failed in going against Enji.
And all this, in a house where "like Rei" is an insult that her father shouts- to have her mother's constitution is a terrible thing. It's why her first two brothers were failures. Being "like Rei" means you are weak, and useless, and going to break down, going to be sent away.
And Fuyumi is supposed to be "like Rei", but without any of those bad parts.
Anyway wow this is such a long post.
That's why I think Fuyumi has a complicated relationship with her mother and with her appearance! If Fuyumi had been a boy, there always would have been a housekeeper there. She could have been a big brother- a big brother overly relied on, yes, but not a father. Fuyumi is not a boy. She is "like Rei." She is like Rei, who poured boiling water on a child because he had red hair, and a blue eyes.
So I think Fuyumi looks in the mirror, and sees red lines in her hair, and blue eyes behind glasses that neither of her parents need. And I think she keeps her hair shorter than Rei, and doesn't let it hang long like her mother prefers. And I think Fuyumi looks in the mirror, and sees that she's not just exactly like one or the other of her parents- and I think she says "thank God"

PINK | 2/? | pjm
summary: A neighbor as pink and hopelessly romantic as you and an equally pink neighbor like Jimin (but without a thing or two in common), sounds almost perfect together, right?. The only problem? That you are madly in love with him but his tonalities are very different from yours.
pairing: park jimin x female reader.
genre: fluff, angst, (maybe in the future a little of smut? not so sure).
word count: 1992
warning: unrequited love, pinning, so much embarrassment, a looooot of pink hehe, hurt, some mxm with ot7, you know…it happens sometimes.
------
Pink, 'cause you are so very
“Sup with the face, sugar?” Seokjin’s voice pulls you back to reality. Or maybe was Jimin’s text.
“Jimin asked me if he should go on a date with the pretty girl of the coffee shop across the street”
“You are a pretty girl” He points you with a finger, looking at you harshly. “And Jimin always says stupid things, so please, don’t overthink this”
“But I'm not the pretty girl he would consider asking out on a date” your voice is almost a whisper, so genuinely hurt that Seokjin can't help the tug at his heart.
“Well, his loss, I’m telling you” He scoffs “He will see you someday—” Tucks a lock of hair behind your ear with an affectionate smile. “ like, really see you. And I hope it's not too late when that happens”
Everyone knows what a wonderful person you are, including Park Jimin.
The only person who apparently lacks this information is you.
And it's not that Seokjin has any feelings of hatred and contempt towards the now black-haired boy; but he didn’t appreciate the way he lured you to him and then pushed you away.
Actually, even if Namjoon thinks otherwise, he is absolutely certain that there is some reason why Jimin's colors look somewhat... dull.
There must be a reason why despite the subtle -quite obvious in Seokjin's opinion- attraction Jimin feels for you, he doesn't let it develop but also doesn't let it stop.
Seokjin just knows it's like that, it's a feeling,
“I love you so much Jinnie, but I don't want to talk about this anymore” You leave a small kiss in his cheek before you continue talking. “Are you coming for some unhealthy dinner tonight?”
“You know that we will, baby” The wink it throws at you makes you giggle “Namjoon will pick us up ten minutes before we close the store, safety an all, you know my man” You both laugh a little. “Any suggestions?”
“I'm craving a cheeseburger from McDonald’s”
“A cheeseburger from McDonald's will be” It’s a reality, they don’t know how to say no to you. And they don’t want to. “Now, help me with this arrangement, I have never met a bride as demanding as this girl. I swear”
______
"Just when I think you can't get any more idiotic, you come along and surprise me Jimin."
Yoongi’s raspy voice makes him roll his eyes.
“What are you talking about now?”
“You know what. Don’t play dumb with me” He signals his phone with a movement of the head and scolds him with his eyes. Translation: He read the messages. “You can’t keep doing this to her.”
Jimin looked out the window again, exchanging glances with the barista who batted her eyelashes flirtatiously, gifting him a smile that he returned with a smaller one of his own.
She's pretty, he had to admit that. But neither her flirtatious smile nor her long, stylish hair, managed to provoke anything in him.
Not like his small, pink, innocent neighbor.
A sigh left his lips and he returned his gaze to his phone.
“I know”
______
“Are we hungry or what?”
Namjoon enters the shop with his extra-large arms extended, prepare to wrap you two in a bear hug.
“We are always hungry; you already know that hun”
Seokjin takes his face in between his hands with so much delicacy that you want to cry but instead you fake a gagging noise that makes them chuckle and you smile fondly to the presence of their love.
“Let’s go before you suffocate me with so much PDA” You give them a weak smile walking towards the entrance, in a crestfallen manner.
The taller one knows there is something in your voice that doesn't fit the facade you want to sell him, so, he looks to his boyfriend direction with a raised brow and an interrogation mark painted on its face.
His boyfriend answers him with a silent lip movement, a name, clarifying the situation.
Of course, it had to be.
“I cross paths with Jungkook this morning”
“Really? How is he?” Your question doesn’t come as curious as his want’s to, but he keeps anyways.
“You know, hotter than before” Seokjin watches him curious while locking the gate of the flower shop, eyebrow arching and he clarifies his voice. “I might have invited him to dinner today”
Okay, he may not have invited him, but they did crossed paths in a convenience store while the younger one was carrying a bag full of banana milk.
But he will.
“…You did?”
The hesitation in your voice gives him a push.
“Yeah, I mean, is it wrong?”
————
You should have known.
How is it possible that a specimen like Jeon Jungkook exists and on top of that, he is single.
Damn Kim Namjoon and damn his twisted plan or whatever that goes through his prodigy brain.
“You could have warned me that he looked like that!”
“Boring” Namjoon prolonged the ‘o’ “I don’t see what’s wrong. He is hot, you are hot, he is single, you are single. A win-win situation if you ask me”.
“But I didn’t”.
“Irrelevant. We are having an amazing night y/n. You know that I’m not going to force you on a date with Jungkook but I want you to enjoy this moment with me, with us”.
“I am enjoying the moment, excuse you” You murmur.
“No your not. You think that I didn’t see the sadness in your eyes?”
“Nam…”
“No baby, not today” He takes a deep breath and looks at you with so much love and concern. “Please”
Deep inside, you know he is right, that you need a night of rest from the problem in your heart that has Park Jimin as its name.
Jungkook is funny, sweet, attentive and Namjoon isn't lying when he says the four of you are having a spectacular night.
You can see it in your best friend's eyes, the desperation to see you well, happy.
So, you agree.
“But!—” Namjoon waits for whatever that you are going to say “What the fuck with those tattoos? And the piercing? He can’t be real, you created him”
He lets out a thunderous laugh as he wraps an arm around your shoulders.
“Girl, I know”
______
“Thank you so much for having me tonight y/n”
“Oh, no, no” You blush. He chuckles, watching you trying to burn holes in the door of the apartment in front of yours to avoid his gaze. “I-I…eh…Thank you! T-Thank you for coming, like, here, to my house, obviously…oh my god”
You want to slap your face for making a fool of yourself in front of another extremely hot man.
And then, he smiles.
And it's not a smirk or a chuckle that can be interpreted as "I know what I’m doing to you."
It's genuine.
He’s giving you his adorable bunny smile.
“Cute”
If he is about to say something else besides what your brain translated as a compliment, a voice coming from the elevator at the end of the hall momentarily distracts you from it.
“Hey pink”
Although Jimin's greeting is for you, his eyes are intently fixed on the male figure next to you, who watches him curiously.
“Jiminie, you are at home”
Jungkook's eyes travel quickly from Jimin to you, who -with incredible speed for someone so small- runs into the arms of the black-haired boy standing in front of the elevator door.
The gears in his brain working at full power, stopping abruptly when this guy drops the bags he was carrying on the floor so he can wrap his arms around your waist, still throwing daggers in his direction.
Then the realization hits him, and his lips let out an amused chuckle.
This guy must see him as a threat and being honest, he could be.
If you'd let him, that is.
“Yoongi didn't let me escape early, I'm sorry I couldn't make it to dinner with you”
The butterflies in your belly do a triple loop at his words.
"It's okay, I understand" You say turning around but not before grabbing one of the bags lying on the floor and incidentally, the hand he keep unoccupied by the other bags, you turn to Jungkook with a smile "Jungkookie, this is Jiminie, my neighbor!"
“Hi, Jiminie the neighbor”
Jungkook extends his hand offering it in a cordial greeting, while Jimin examines him completely to finally put down the bags and shake it without separating his hand that is holding yours.
“Just Jimin”
You don't quite understand why they seem to be having a battle to the death with just their eyes, in the middle of the hallway, while Mrs. Kim passes by and watches the scene with curiosity.
You give her a somewhat apologetic smile and make a small bow before -trying- to take a step to get closer to Jungkook.
Try, because the moment Jimin detected movement on your part, he pulled your hand with a little force -without hurting you of course-, to return you to his side.
Jungkook catches between his lips the mocking laughter that wants to escape from his chest and instead returns his gaze to you, smiling softly.
"I'd love to stay and get to know 'Just Jimin' a little more, but I'm afraid it's a little late" You can watch from the corner of your eye as Jimin rolls his eyes and turns to the side with a pout on his lips.
Weird.
Not the tantrum, you've seen it multiple times.
The moment. Yeah, that's weird.
"Actually, yes. It's late. Jungkookie from college" Jimin says dryly
For some reason your brain fails to organize its ideas and thoughts, they're all scattered all over the floor of what you assume is the control room in your head.
"Sure" Jungkook replies without looking at him, taking a step to get closer to you, snapping you out of your thoughts "Really, thanks for tonight, y/n"
Jimin knows, he can feel it.
His cheeks must be red and his forehead must have the biggest scowl in history.
Because, who does he think he is, Jungkookie from college, to hug you like that?
Even when his hand is intertwined with yours!.
"Oh" Jungkook's warm embrace brings you back to your senses completely. unconsciously letting go of Jimin's hand to return the gesture with affection "Thank you for coming, I hope Namjoon didn't force you to come all the way here."
"Not at all. Actually, I'd love to meet with you guys again."
When you part, Jimin makes his presence noticeable again, taking your hand quickly with a huff.
------
"I thought only Namjoon and Jin were coming for dinner?"
Jimin lets the question out casually, wishing it wasn't too obvious his need for information from the - apparently - new member of your group.
"Oh, yeah, Namjoon found Jungkook by chance and invited him over for old times' sake."
He can see how you arrange some cans in his cupboard, as if you know the place by heart.
Leaning on his kitchen counter, a smile moves over his lips at the domesticity of the moment.
How can you look so pretty and pink, doing something as mundane as stocking his pantry?
And it's this very thought that forces him to take control of the situation. Because he knows that what happened in the hallway a few minutes ago must have confused you even if you don't show it to him.
And it's not something he can afford.
"I see" Running his hand through his hair -a habit he doesn't intend to abandon-, he starts rummaging through another shopping bag as he continues "Did you read my messages?"
He can see you cease your movements and stand still with a bag of candy in one hand.
"I-I..."
"Nevermind" He Interrupts you "Yoongi advised me on one or two things that might be useful."
"He did?"
No.
But you can't know that.
"Yeah, he did."
------
A/N:
For the people who read the first part, I'm sorry for the delay but I've been going through an unexpected and difficult time, so I promise to make up for the lost time. In the meantime I'll leave this chapter here and I hope you enjoy it and again, I'm really sorry!

No excuses for my lack of updates these past few weeks other than that I have been super lazy lately! And oh, busy too! For realz! But what I have been busy with will only be updated in the next coming posts since I am still waiting for confirmation on it hehe.
Anyways, for my try one new thing each month for February! I went to Indonesia for the first time!
Fatin, Illiya, and I have been planning an overseas trip for the longest time. But we never know when can we go or where to go. Our schedules have been so busy lately (and getting busier soon! Ihiks!) that we almost thought that another overseas trip is just impossible.
It wasn’t until Fatin just flat out showed us flight prices, and I said that I wanted to taste authentic nasi ayam penyet! We started planning ever since.
Originally, we wanted to go to Bandung since Mama went there last year and was recommending places to go and things to do but we settled for Yogyakarta instead since there were more places to go and we wanted to go to the places they filmed for Ada Apa Dengan Cinta 2. With the hopes that I would score myself a Rangga! (such a fail, btw).
I AM IN LOOOOOVE WITH JOGJA! I say this about all the places that I visit but omg Jogja was amaaaazingg! It is such a beautiful place to visit, the view is spectacular and I loved the temples and history behind every place. And Jogjans (?) are so soft and calm and have such good manners!
Our supir was the nicest guy ever and he was very very patient with all of us. Granted, we were not that picky or choosy about our plans and schedule but he was just so chilled and laid back and omg should you visit Jogja and need a driver, I highly recommend his services!
I also reunited with one of my long lost childhood best friend, Nyssa!!! I missed her so much!!! The last time we met was 13 years ago! It’s crazy! Imagine, if we had a child since the last time we met, he would be a teenager by now?? A looooot has happened since then, we grew up, we finished schools, and we are both currently working. And she is still the very smart, sof spoken, and super calm and zen Nyssa I remember! My Instagram and Facebook exploded from comments from our friends from IGSC! Even they were sooo happy for our little reunion!
The trip was incredible. It was educational, spiritual, and physical too since a lot of the places we went required us to walk and climb (hahaha I tried my best not to complain since these two know how I hate physical activities like that. So ironic for a Zumba instructor, right??).
I had the best time whilst in Jogja! It was a nice time for me to not care or think about work. A very much needed break. And luckily, after the trip, I managed to properly sit down and reflect on the things I really wanted my year to be. It was quite a blur then. But good times are ahead!
Stay tuned for more updates from me and keep me in your prayers! I have soooo much to catch up here!
(The only thing I didn’t manage to do was to ride a freaking Gojek!! Hahaha. It’s a Grab ride but with motorcycles instead of cars. I think only Indonesia has this service and really wanted to try hahaha but ofcoz la I didn’t. Nyssa offered a ride on her motorbike though! But I declined coz I secretly don’t trust her lol)
More pictures on my Instagram! Or you know, I’ll randomly upload one every once in a while when I feel like it.
