anyway, I think we should all be very loud and vocal and angry about Taylor’s continued practice of releasing different variations of her albums that force you to either pick and choose bonus tracks or else purchase every version in order to own them all, because, uhhhhh, she is not above criticism and what she’s doing here is a cruel and predatory business practice that flies in the face of the art she claims she wants to share with us.
“No one’s forcing you to buy every version” should be saved for material differences like collectible covers or items like the Lover journals or even TTPD’s special magnets and bookmarks and things; it should NOT apply to the music itself.
“It’s all going to end up on streaming anyway,” doesn’t count either because I actually like physical media and I’m still mad about Taylor banishing If This Was A Movie to streaming after she kicked it off Speak Now but didn’t bother to actually put it on Fearless. I’m also mad that Sweeter Than Fiction was only released on one special vinyl because I don’t use vinyls?? I want to have all my music in one place. I want to have a CD I can play in my car without having to switch it out to hear one different song. I spend money on my music because I want to actually own the album I have: something that is not guaranteed with iTunes or streaming.
the more Taylor does this, the less I’m even supportive of having an album + a deluxe edition. Like. Why would I ever want an incomplete version?
I love Taylor as an artist and I want to believe her when she says that she loves creating and then sharing her art with us, but when she gatekeeps and oversells her music like this, I’ve got to doubt her. Everyone knows she doesn’t need to release multiple versions just to make a profit. She’s breaking records with every album she announces! But if she thinks this is a fun way to release albums, then I actually need everyone to get on the same page by telling her it’s NOT. I don’t care if you, personally, random reader, don’t mind forking out a hundred dollars for 5 slightly different version of the same album; it should not be REQUIRED. Some people can’t afford it. Some people are never even offered the other versions (looking at you past Target exclusives + clean variants of all the Midnights CDs that never went up on the Canadian site). If Taylor loves her fans, she shouldn’t be taking advantage of them: full stop.
tl;dr: collectible versions of albums should be limited to aesthetic and bonus materials, NOT songs; every version of the album should be announced together so people can buy responsibly; every song should be equally available on physical media as it is on streaming; Taylor Swift needs to be held accountable for these predatory releases.
#taylor swift#the tortured poets department#taylornation#swifties#the manuscript#the bolter#the albatross#I hate her 🙃#which sucks worse as time wears on because I grew up loving her#again I say: you’re mostly here for the music and she still finds ways to let you down

Taylor releasing ANOTHER version of ttpd just as Chappell Roan's album topped Spotify's global chart is the BEST exhibit of capitalist greed I've ever seen. Ntm the fact that Charli xcx ft Billie eilish has also begun doing numbers on the charts. It's like clockwork, when another artist seems to be doing well.
And I don't care if her brain dead stans say, "it's actually for kanye" it's not. His piece isn't about to enter the chart until later. And even if it was about ye, Taylor KNOWS by releasing all these new/not so new, lame versions of a badly constructed album (yes the album is bad), it's going to hurt all the new artists who are out right now.
Idc if it's the Samsung smart fridge memo version of mbobhft or some other thing. She absolutely cannot stand to see other fresh, young artists win and it's tarnishing the legacy she's built up until evermore. Even before that, how she and her team absolutely wronged Olivia reflected poorly on her & revealed her true character.
"But yall don't say this when male artists do it" -name me one male artist who is currently doing this & I'll talk abt it. Matter of fact, name me one male artist who currently has the power Taylor has right now. She's got the Grammys in her pocket, she's capitalised on the nostalgia her fans have for her, & is now going after young artists. As a former swiftie, Taylor has become the very thing she stood against all those years ago.
She has shown that she will only be an advocate for yt issues, cuts down her younger, fresher competition & latch on to the yt indie/new pop girlies who don't have the power to outshine her, but are just popular enough to keep her relevant, see Gracie Abrams, Sabrina Carpenter (although Sabrina seems to be surpassing her in streams & popularity recently), ice spice (we all know this one was just a response to ppl calling her out for her obvious racism/indifference to pocs, especially her black and brown fans who CONSTANTLY face racism from her white majority, mostly millennial fans).
Anyway, Chappell seems to be doing just fine, this was just a grumble bc Taylor has been disappointing for a while & I'm glad we're starting to see swifties call her out for her crap. She's not untouchable. She's just a yt woman at the end of the day who will only speak up for yt women & their privileges. & she's just a product now, doing everything in her power to stay on top even if it means cutting down younger, new artists who with their new, growing fanbases, cannot compete with a parasitic capitalist group like Taylor Swift.

i have thoughts about speak now (taylor's version)
this is not even all of them lmao but i can't think rn so here
mine: my perfect sweet angel beautiful perfect baby. nothing can ever compete sorry. i will fight for mine i will kill for mine i will die for mine and the re-recording did not disappoint
sparks fly: remember when i thought "lead me up the staircase" was the horniest thing 19 year old taylor wrote
back to december: the little twinkling instrumentals 🥹 i love the tiny little instrumental changes that come with the re-recordings. sometimes they miss but sometimes they hit and this HIT
speak now: "you wish it was me, dont you (HAHA)" was what sold me on this album re-recording ngl. it was just the moment i knew that this would be a good one
dear john: my jaw physically dropped when i heard her vocals. she just brought the energy with this one and it is very hurtful. but also i'm very proud of her
mean: and a LIAR 😏 and pathetic 👏 and alone in life 😤 and mean 😡 and mean 😡 and mean 😡 and mean😡 and-
the story of us: this was the first song on this album that i thought was BETTER than the original. like the others were just as good, but the story of us ate and left no crumbs
never grow up: we could unpack all of that OR- or, we could choose not to. and i think ik what im going to do :D (it was better than the original)
enchanted: i hope that wherever adam young is, the sun shines and it's a beautiful day
better than revenge: ok so the lyric change is what i know everyone's on about but like its a really good lyric. i'll miss the original but come on "he was a moth to the flame she was holding the matches" that's so funny. better than revenge already paints the guy as like, a trophy that gets passed around. now he's literally a hapless bug this is so unserious in the best way
haunted: once again better than the og. she just really delivered with the vocals and the emotional performance, and i almost feel like this moves haunted up in my ranking (almost)
last kiss: i hear the shaky breath idk what you guys are on about. maybe i'm the one who's wrong and i just hear it from force of habit but its really good anyway??? like it's probably her most emotionally delivered song in the original, so i was nervous about this one. but i really like it and i actually had to check while listening to it for the first time to make sure i wasn't streaming the stolen version.
long live: this song still makes me so emotional and its just like. we did point to the pictures. and we do tell them her name. and she's still here and shining! fate did not force us into a goodbye! ughhhhhhhh (also its heartbreaking with the added context of castles crumbling but that's for another day)
ours: i always loved ours so i hope you guys give it the love it deserves this time sry
superman: i also really liked superman and like haunted, this was a song she just EMOTED on like crazy. ate and left no crumbs AGAIN and it was a great finishing point for the non-vault songs
thoughts on vault tracks are in a seperate post bc i have too many

Trigger warning: mentions of p*dophilia
I'm seriously gonna need some people to get their heads out of their ass and start calling out the right people instead of reaching just so they can find a reason to hate on someone that doesn't deserve it.
For context for people that follow me or stumble across this and don't know, Sabrina has a song called "nonsense" that has this very random verse in the end of it, the whole song is just a very fun one, so in every show she does when she sings that song every time when it gets to that verse instead of singing what it says in the recorded version she makes one up on the spot for each show, they don't make sense 99% of the time they are not supposed to bc that part of the song is a joke she literally says it in the song actually.
Anyways this was what she said in one of the shows where she was opening for Taylor Swift, she was in Mexico and wanted to include some Spanish.
People are now calling her a p*dophile, for mentioning being a grown woman and looking like a "little girl" and then including "sexual" innuendos right after, for example like this person right here.
And when I tell you I've never wanted to bang my head against the wall so hard until I read this, I really don't want to make this post extremely long but I'm mad, so it's definitely gonna be, first of all the first line she's not calling herself a little girl she's not saying that looking like a little girl is "sexually desirable" all she's saying is that she's a grown ass woman and yet she's small as fuck and people still assume to this day that she's a lot younger than she actually is, bc she's fucking tiny.
The next line we don't even know 100% what she said some people are saying she said "neat" and not "big" but regardless, like I've mentioned before the last verse in nonsense is suppose to be exactly that, nonsense, it's not tied together sometimes it's just one liners. And she does make this verses sexual a lot of the time on her tour, but according to Spanish speaking people no one uses "Casita" to refer to their you know what. But honestly regardless of if it's sexual or not, it's so damn obvious that she was saying that bc of her height that I can't help but side eye the people making this about something else, and calling HER a p*do when there's ACTUAL celebrities that are out here dating children and no ones says anything like how about people start calling out THOSE instead of the woman that just wanted to make a funny verse about her height to include on her very unserious song.
*sigh* anyway stream "nonsense" and her whole album "emails I can't send"
#Not saying that person is wrong they aren't but it just doesn't apply to the case they are using it in#And that's what bothers me and what I think is extremely weird#sabrina carpenter#the eras tour#emails i can't send

its literally my second post on this app and im already gonna complain hooray
some of yall do nawwttt deserve taylor swift.
“speak now tv is so different so i cant listen to it!!! im gonna listen to the stolen version because btr is different and waaa waa wahhh 😡😡”
womp womp wommmppp grow up. the least you could do is support taylor by listening to her version but instead ur going out of your way to listen to the stolen version because of a lyric change??
“but it sounds so different!!!”
duhh shes not 19 anymore?? her voice changed.
“b-but theres no more passion!! wheres the emotion?!?!”
theres less emotion because she isn’t feeling the emotions she felt when she wrote the og speak now. she isnt gonna sing last kiss with the same heartbreak feeling that she did before because she isnt feeling that same heartbreak.
idk man i just feel like people are being so dramatic like it really doesnt sound all that different imo. and even if it did whyy would you give money and support to the stolen version over the tiniest differences. like who tf cares if theres no last kiss shaky breath. its not that serious i promise.
anyway stream speak now tv! 💜💜

i genuinely don't think anyone will ever understand how much i love taylor swift. i have a bad day? blasting taylor swift. i have a good day? blasting taylor swift. i want to ignore the entire world and disappear? you guessed it i'm listening to taylor swift.
she will never be topped by anyone because no matter how much everything in my life has changed she's always been a constant for me to rely on.
she's never let me down unlike pretty much everyone else even if i don't know her personally she's always been so positive about others on the internet even if they don't really deserve it
i wish more people recognized that most of her fans love for her goes beyond just her music and more towards how she acts and cares so much
anyways stream speak now taylor's version

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if you don’t like a re-recorded version of a song and would rather listen to the original, just do it. It’s not that big of a deal, Taylor and everybody else involved are multi-millionaires and the most important part of the project is that she owns her music anyway.
So many people (mostly on Twitter) are like “if you listen to any of the original songs you don’t respect Taylor as an artist” which is just ridiculous if you ask me. She has never demanded that you stream the re-recordings over the originals. I can think of many reasons why somebody might prefer to listen to the originals. Maybe they like her younger voice more on some of the older songs. Maybe they feel the emotions of the songs were captured better when the feelings were more raw and not 13 years removed. Maybe they prefer how the originals were produced. Music is so subjective; literally any of these would be valid reasons somebody might rather stream the originals.
I personally still listen to the OG All Too Well. Same with Holy Ground, 22, We Are Never Getting Back Together, Starlight, and Begin Again. Depending on the song, it’s for a combination of the above reasons. And I still don’t want to fully let go of any of the original Speak Now recordings; that album means too much to me and I can’t imagine completely putting those versions in the past even if I do mostly like the re-recordings.
I understand to a degree why people argue about this. I support Taylor’s cause for taking on this project, and I want to show my support for it as much as I can. I also think if people are like “all the re-recordings suck and I refuse to listen to any of them” that’s just closed minded; the least you can do is give them a shot. But some of the direction this argument has taken has gotten uncomfortably parasocial, and trying to condemn somebody’s morality over their choice to stream a version of a Taylor Swift song is the epitome of terminally online and you should probably go out and touch some grass.

fave and and least fave Taylor's Versions so far?
My favourite is definitely Fearless. I think it has the closest sound to the original (even if I can hear the differences), maintains its emotions and has my second favourite set of vault tracks so far (I particularly love we were happy, that's when, don't you and mr perfectly fine). There's not a single rerecorded track I don't love and in terms of the vault songs, I understand exactly why they were chosen and even with the two I don't listen to often, I get the appeal, it's just not for me.
My least favourite is RED and it's not even close. Like I have the original CD so outside of the vault tracks, I do not listen to RED (Taylor's Version) at all. I think at best a few of the songs sound like the original and none sound as good, only the vault tracks keep the emotion (which was the best part of RED og for me and why it's my stan album) and the new version of Girl At Home sounds like one of those fanmade remixes you'd find on youtube in 2008. The only positives I can give it is that the two music videos it got were among my favourites and that the vault tracks are my favourites so far. In saying that, I wish if she was going to rerecord the Hunger Games tracks and consider them RED tracks that she would have done them at the time and put them on the album because I listen to CDs not streaming sites when it comes to her.
I also want to acknowledge, because I know people will jump down my throat about this, that yes, I understand that given the similarities between the relationship in RED and the one that was current to her at the time, RED was especially challenging emotionally. However, especially if the theories about 1989 being pushed back were true, I really wish she had held off on RED (Taylor's Version) until she felt more up to putting that emotion in because ultimately it just sounds hollow to me.
Just as a quick aside for the other two, I think on the most part they're fine.
I think Speak Now has lost some emotion, had some ... interesting production choices with mixed outcomes (mostly negative to neutral but despite being team 'the lyric shouldn't have been changed', I think Better Than Revenge's production is better than the original) and has the most forgettable vault tracks for me personally (I think I could only confidently sing When Emma Falls In Love and maaaybe I Can See You). However, all of these vault tracks make a hell of a lot more sense upon TTPD:TA coming out because, alongside 1989's, they are extremely TTPD:TA coded so it makes sense that they were the one's on her mind. Finally, I understand she wanted to promote the album with the whole 'only self written songs' angle, but much like what I said re: the Hunger Games tracks, I hate that she took off If This Was A Movie given I'm a CD person not a streamer.
1989 is listenable but really showed to me that the 'Max magic' is missing from the rerecordings. Like I couldn't tell you exactly what that is, but I feel like every song he was apart of that got rerecorded feels like it's missing that extra something for me. Like at first I thought it was just going to be the RED tracks given the whole project felt off, but 1989 cemented that it is not and I've prepared myself for that regarding Reputation. I also have not fully fallen in love with the vault tracks like everyone else seems to have and could probably confidently sing Say Don't Go, Now That We Don't Talk and Is It Over Now (and that last one is mostly from radio play) but that's about it.
Anyway this has been a rant and a half, but TLDR: the rerecordings have been a mixed bag for me but Fearless is by far my favourite and RED is by far my least favourite.

you are the best thing that’s ever been mine 𖦹 LN4
PAIRINGS: lando norris x fem!reader
SUMMARY: it’s officially the summer break, so the first thing that you both did is to attend the eras tour that has been your shared calendar for the summer.
AUTHOR’S NOTE: been streaming speak now on spotify and got this silly idea. a mixture of short narration and smau. anyways, hope you guys enjoy this one! :)
REMINDER: this is purely fiction, the way how the character is portrayed in my story does not reflect to the person that is portraying my character in real life. always separate fiction from reality, and do not repost or copy my work in any way.
WORD COUNT: 732
WARNINGS: there some inaccuracies (i’m sorry)
FACE CLAIM: random people on pinterest
Attending the Eras Tour was one of the highlight in your shared calendar that you’d go to when his summer break starts, and Lando could hardly contain his excitement as he sat next to you at the VIP area in the stadium, surrounded by a sea of glittering lights with a buzz of anticipation. It was a rare and special night, one that had been marked on both of your calendars for months—the Eras Tour. The concert was a celebration of Taylor’s musical journey, and Lando’s heart flutter with a mix of excitement and love as he glanced over at you—your face being illuminated by the soft, ethereal glow of the stage lights as he looks at you softly, talking and exchanging friendship bracelets with other fan, the friendship bracelets that you and him both made.
In no time, the countdown flashed on the big screen. By now, you were already seated beside Lando, eyes sparkling with anticipation. As the opening chords of the first song filled the stadium, you started to sing along to every song with unrestrained enthusiasm, your voice blending effortlessly with the crowd’s. Each song seemed to bring out a new level of adoration in Lando, he couldn’t help but be enchanted by you—your carefree dancing and the way you twirled and swayed with the rhythm.
Lando watched you with an adoring smile, your enthusiasm being really infectious. You knew every word to every song, and at one point, you had grabbed Lando’s hands, inviting him to join you in dancing. He then found himself falling in love with you all over again, asking himself mentally if it’s possible to hold so much love for one person. It’s just that Lando is utterly captivated by you.
“Look at you, just killing it,” Lando teased, leaning in to kiss your cheek softly. You laughed and leaned into him, hugging him by his waist.
“I can’t help it,” you said, eyes twinkling. “Taylor’s music just makes me so happy.”
The night progressed, and with each song, Lando felt his heart swell with happiness. He pulled you into his arms, swaying gently with you during the slower ballads. Every now and then, he would lean in and press a tender kiss on your forehead or cheeks, and everything time he does it, you would giggle, cheeks flushing with happiness.
All of the crowd had been waiting on what the surprise song will be for the concert. Taylor was seated on her piano, playing some keys, then she introduced the song. You immediately recognized the opening chords, and it was the song ‘Mine’. Everyone in the stadium went wild, including you. It was your and Lando’s favorite song on the Speak Now album, and you were happy that she decided to play it on this concert. By now, the whole stadium lit up in purple lights.
You would always play this song in your shared apartment back in Monaco, and sing it together with Lando, so this song is really dear to you. When Lando recognized the song, his heart raced in anticipation, he watched you sing with the crowd, putting an arm around you and hugged him by his waist. Looking up at him, he was already looking at you, you sang the lyrics to the chorus directly at him, your voice filled with sincerity and affection.
“You are the best thing, that’s ever been mine.”
Lando’s breath hitched, his heart pounding in his chest. He pulled you close, your lips meeting in a sweet, lingering kiss that spoke volumes. The crowd around you cheered and clapped, but at that moment, it felt like it was just the two of you, wrapped up in your own world. Throughout the night, Lando showered you with gentle kisses and tender touches. He couldn’t help but steal moments of affection, each kiss is a proof of how deeply he loves and cherish you, and the way you looked at him, with eyes full of love and happiness, made every moment special.
When the concert ends, you both left the stadium with hands intertwined. Lando turned towards you, pulling you close to him once more.
“Tonight was perfect,” he whispered. You looked up at him, eyes sparkling with love. “It really was. I’m so happy we shared it together. Thank you.” He leaned in and kissed you again softly on the lips.

16-year-old anon from earlier, and yeah, same! If you'll allow me to rant for a minute (though I may have already done so in the past) here is MY experience as a Taylor Swift fan over the years:
First remember being aware of who she is around Red/1989. I think the first song I heard was IKYWT and it was on the radio. From that point I would find any Taylor-related content on YouTube. This included music videos, interviews, parodies, the occasional bit of gossip (the only tidbit I remember pre-rep was Calvin at the Massage place that gave happy endings😭), and of course, speed-up versions of her songs because this was pre her adding her catalogue BACK to streaming, not that I WAS streaming at age 7, but yk.
I had a vague knowledge of some of her boyfriends. I knew Harry (duh) and Calvin (also kind of duh) and Joe Jonas. I knew of the Jonas Brothers (mainly cause of the purity ring jokes, which if we're being fr is their main legacy) and I also knew he did Cake By The Ocean which was EVERYWHERE circa 2016. I don't think I knew he'd dated Taylor, though. I think I also only found out about Hiddles and that whole circus around Rep.
Around 2015ish i saw a 1989 CD at Target and asked my mum to buy it. I then got a Red CD soon after. Cut to 2016/2017, Taylor's music isn't being played on the radio, and my 9(?) year old self is sad and confused. I knew nothing of the #taylorswiftisoverparty. I just knew they weren't playing her music anymore. Cut to 2017 - i, alongside the rest of the world, sat and watched the LWYMMD music video. I also remember watching the lyric video and being scared by the snake😭
After this, I tried very hard to listen to rep in full, but had no idea where to find it. One night, I was a scrolling on YT and found Delicate (or Dress), and then came across Better Than Revenge. My 9/10 year old self was SCANDALISED and VERY confused, as I had never seen the Speak Now album cover in. my. life. and thought she had already put out an album. Anyway, sometime between the release of Rep & Lover, I stopped seeking stuff out. When the Lover singles came out I hated ALL of them. From memory, ME! felt like a personal violation (I was BIG into PAN!C at the time, and hated that the song was so ass - though, in retrospect, the stuff of theirs (later work. Very little early stuff) that I listened to was objectively worse), Lover (song) was boring, and You Need To Calm Down made me viscerally angry due to me starting to realise I was not straight and desperately trying to believe I was wrong. I did not seek out Lover the way I had done Rep and was, at this point, a genuine anti.
Then folklore came out and people RAVED about it, so I decided to check it out. I liked it, but didn't click with it in the way other people had. It did inspire me to check out her back catalogue + rep/Lover. By the time evermore dropped I was IN IT, and I became even more in it upon hearing evermore. I got very involved in fandom culture (also got very into Glee... you can imagine what the combination inspired in 13 year old me), until around 2022, when I began being frustrated with Taylor’s jets and perfomatitive activism. I once again went anti (I also got very into Stranger Things around this time, specifically Max... played by Sadie Sink... Taylor Swift is the only constant in this world). Then, she reeled me back in with the Midnights marketing campaign. Once again, I was there the second it dropped (as I have been for all of her releases since evermore). WCS broke my brain (as right where you left me had the year prior) and I had no choice but to go FULL swiftie. And since then I've maintained it pretty solidly.
That's about it. If you've read through to here, thank you🙏 hopefully you found it interesting/somewhat entertaining.
that’s fair! It’s okay to like stuff more at certain stages and super fucking normal of you xx
I will also say that some of the stuff I say on here is probably not super age appropriate for my younger anons lol but at the same time I do try to be cognizant of y’all and idk it’s real life so I also try not to encourage people to do stupid shit. *I* have done stupid shit but that doesn’t mean you guys should. I do sometimes worry I glamorize like unhealthy behaviors and I hope y’all have the sense not to do a lot of the shit that I’ve done 💀

Hi!!!! I'm so sorry I didn't reply again until now. I wanted to reply the other day but basically my ask got deleted halfway thru replying and I didn't have time again until now. I'm so glad you had a great time at the movie. It seems like you had a lot of fun and i'm glad you were able to see it again. I expected there not to be a lot of people at the last show since it was so late and it was an added show on Thursday. It did make me wanna see it again just to experience it with other people but I don't know if I will. I hope it comes to streaming so I can watch it over and over. I loved noticing new things seeing it up close. What did your friend think of the whole show? Sometimes I forget how incredible it is how Taylor created and came up with it mostly by herself..a true mastermind! I'm grateful that I was able to go to the show at least once compared to the people that didn't. It did make me nostalgic for my show but I also loved the surprise songs cuz it was like how the fans that have been there from the beginning since Our Song to now with You're On Your own Kid just made it special. Aww she really put it on and said it was her favorite!!! I knew about the cut songs beforehand but my sister didn't and it took her some time to realize any were cut. I understand some of them cuz it didn't have choreography and I guess the movie maybe felt a little long but also everything went by fast too. But that was the one that hurt the most cuz its one of my favorites. It's also the only single from the album so I couldn't believe she cut it. I love them all but my favorites are probably Speak Now and Folklore too, along with rep.
I never listened to Renee's EP cuz I was waiting until her album but I do plan to hear them together probably next week. The few songs I've heard so far I've liked though. I have to give Holly's album a few more listens as well before I know my favorites but which ones did you like the best? I also enjoyed Boygenius as well. Ya I am curious about the movie version but I'm not excited about it or anything. I don't think it would change much from the stage version, but I'm happy it's at least people kinda from Broadway. I never saw anything from Sabrina if she ever was on Broadway, cuz I can't remember..but I agree..she could've been a great Cady. I remember the stunt cast for Cameron Dallas and apparently he was so bad lol. I'm sorry you didn't get to see it on Broadway but I might see it on tour in a few months to compare it to the movie. I also heard a Waitress proshot is coming soon so I'm probably more interested in seeing that, cuz I couldn't on tour.
So one of the reasons I didn't reply to you was cuz we went to see Les Mis last night!!! We were trying to go on Wednesday but it didn't work out so I didn't wanna tell you I was seeing it if I wasn't sure I could go. But it was so amazing and probably top 5 shows I've seen. I would want to go again to have better seats and cuz there was a lot going on, on stage, that I missed. It was really funny though cuz I hadn't thought of the musical in a while but of course I still knew all of the words haha. It felt really fast paced and I wish I could've paid more attention or soaked it in more..that was kinda my first time seeing a sung through show, so it was a good thing I knew it so well lol. My favorite parts were I Dreamed a Dream, The Confrontation, Stars, and One Day More, but I really loved the flow of Act One. The barricade scenes were good too, but the set was pretty dark which made it kinda hard to see. Of course I thought of you every time they said Cosette! And I noticed it was a lot haha. Anyway I also remembered I saw Moulin Rouge on tour almost the exact same day last year which is a crazy coincidence! I only know that cuz it was around when Midnights came out..which is today and I wanna know how you feel about it when it first came out compared to now. I think it's grown on me a lot and I do love it way more now. I can't believe 1989 is only a week away! I'm so excited to hear new Taylor songs to react to..it's so fun and will be fun to see if we have the same favorites.
Wow cool..that's awesome that you met up at your show! You're so sweet to say that and I realized we have been talking back and forth for a while now. I definitely think of you as my friend! Sometimes I worry that I have nothing interesting to say but then I also worry I talk so much lol. But that's why I say you shouldn't worry about replying..but I didn't want you to feel like I forgot about you either. I really do enjoy our conversations and how we just talk about our interests since I don't really have anyone else to talk about this stuff with. It feel weird that you don't know what I look like or that I'm just online, and sometimes I feel weird about it. Books are something I'm glad we can bond over, since my sister doesn't have as much time for reading, and I'm excited to start the book soon. If we are reading the Night Circus too, it's okay cuz I can read two books at the same time but just let me know. I read the summary of those on Goodreads and it reminded me of Only Murders in the Building, even if I haven't even watched the show yet but it's on my list. If you've seen it, let me know how it is. I am not a big thriller or mystery reader but it did seem interesting so I'm glad you enjoyed them! I'm sorry if I forgot anything, but I might not be able to reply until Monday if you reply to this though..just to let you know. I hope you have a nice weekend!
hi friend!! hope you're having a good weekend 🤍 i saw something on twitter about it maybe going to prime, but i take most things i see on twitter with a grain of salt 😭 my friend really liked it — and is super excited to see her next year 🥺 i understand why a lot of them were cut (choreo, etc) but i was really bummed because i love long live and the archer and cardigan and - well, all of them. i was talking to some friends on thursday about how if we could change anything in the eras setlist in a way that wouldn't alter production too much (i.e. costume changes, choreography, speeches, giving her time to rest a bit, etc) what would we change and so i want to ask you the same question! what would you change if you could? i think i said i'd switch out i knew you were trouble with holy ground or red! i would personally also maybe switch all too well 10 for the 5 minute version, and then add our song or i'm only me when i'm with you (or both) instead, just so i could get my little debut songs in. but i do think it's pretty perfect and even the songs that i don't gravitate towards listening to regularly are SO much fun live. the rep set is SO good; we've talked about how it's not my favorite album of hers but honestly one of my favorite eras performances i think.
i think elvis impersonators, cocoon, and ghost me are in my top 3, but i'm not entirely sure yet! i can't wait to hear more of your thoughts on holly's album!! sabrina was only cady for like, two days so not a whole lot exists out there! but i really liked her take on cady. i feel like more often than not i am disappointed with stunt casting (i understand why they do it though) — speaking of stunt casts, i'm curious to see how jordan fisher does as orpheus in hadestown! i'm seeing the tour in a few weeks and i'm super excited to finally see someone who isn't reeve carney haha! and yes — waitress proshot! it was announced yesterday or the day before, i think! my friend texted me about it but i'm not sure if i'll have time to go see it in cinemas. hopefully it gets put on streaming sometime soon too!! i just remembered broadwayhd exists — there's so much on there that i haven't seen (that being said, if you've never seen daddy long legs the musical, i do recommend it because megan mcginnis' voice is beautiful and i just love her — although the actual musical content/plot is a bit questionable — and of course, she loves me and allegiance are also ones i'd recommend)! i didn't know they did a proshot of snapshots — john cardoza was in it and i really like him (i saw him in the notebook + really like what i've heard of him in moulin rouge + like what i heard of him in the snapshots cast recording) so i might give that a watch sometime! and i forgot they filmed the production of first date that sam barks was in! i was also just thinking of submissions only, which was a web series back in like 2012 and is pretty scrubbed from the internet now, unfortunately but i loved it. did you ever watch smash? now i'm feeling incredibly nostalgic!
oh my gosh did you have fun at les mis!!! i really liked the marius on tour (gregory lee rodriguez) — his marius is so earnest and so charming; i saw him in a show here in seattle a few years ago and i remember thinking he was a very likable actor so i was really excited to see him in les mis when i saw the tour in june! the barricade scenes are some of my favorites, but yes — lighting can be tricky! i've been meaning to rewatch the movie at some point as well, but it's so long and such a commitment. i was also ... doing a VERY good job of working at my les mis reread/annotations but then ... did not do that. so we'll see if i pick it back up or if i decide to push it off to next year haha. and no way! that's such a cool coincidence!
i really like midnights; i think it's a solid album — but i do find myself reaching for the 3am tracks over some of the songs on midnights proper a lot! it's interesting because my friends and i did a little ~ prediction ~ of our favorites based on names and i could not have been more wrong. i said lavender haze, anti hero, you’re on your own kid, question…? and sweet nothing were ones that stood out to me, and i do like them, don't get me wrong, but the only one i listen to A LOT is you're on your own kid. i think my top listened to midnights tracks/favorite midnights tracks are (in no particular order): yoyok, mastermind, the great war and dear reader. what about you?
you don't need to worry about not having anything interesting to say! i love chatting with you — you can literally come talk to me about anything you want! and you don't need to apologize for taking your time to reply either! and i'm happy to do whatever works for you reading schedule wise / buddy reading wise! i haven't watched OMITB but i've heard really good things and there's apparently a lot of broadway people cameos in the third season? which is fun!
hope you're having a good weekend 🤍 🤍 !!
