- Main story : The Duke and His Secret
.
.
The residence of the Duke of Arvis, the kingdom of Berg.
The atmosphere of the residence was very cheerful, full of laughter from the 2 children of the opposite sex.
One had jet black hair like the color of a crow's feathers, with bright blue eyes like the sky. The other had snow-white hair with amethyst purple eyes.
The servants in the residence could only blush in excitement seeing the two children who were only 8 years old.
2 children, siblings, with different genders. The older brother was a man with black hair like a crow, while the younger sister, a woman with snow-colored hair.
Both of them played and ran with each other in the garden
While on the other side of the garden under the tree, there was a table with a complete set of tea and also a light side dish for the mouth that went well with tea, Pastry.
There were two women sitting there, one was no longer young, estimated to be 80 years old, while the other, still looked young but not so young, estimated to be 50 years old.
The two women were, Elysee von herhardt, and Norma Catharina Von herhardt, daughter-in-law and mother-in-law, who were both watching their grandchildren.
Felix Von Herhard and Airedith Von Herhard. Felix and Aire. Siblings who were only 1 year apart. The servants said they were Irish twins. Because they were only 1 year apart.
Norma stared at the two little children playing with each other, the woman was no longer young, she felt very sad if she couldn't play with them.
While Elysee occasionally smiled and drank tea elegantly, her eyes staring towards the balcony of their manor house. There Elysee could see her affectionate son and daughter-in-law.
In fact, as Elysee remembered when Matthias brought you to the Herhardt residence for the first time, a forced marriage that made your parents agree, you really didn't like being close to Matthias, but as the saying goes, struggle will never give disappointing results. The fact that Matthias desperately shows that he does love you, sincerely even though his way at the beginning was wrong.
Slowly you accepted Matthias, he never forced you to make love or do things he wanted but you didn't like, he listened to your wishes, all your anger, even though at the beginning you were afraid Matthias would hurt you, but he didn't do that.
Matthias even went to a psychiatrist to help overcome how to eliminate apathy and grow an attitude of sympathy and become caring and willing to accept differences of opinion, rejection and so on.
There Elysee could see how Matthias kissed your cheek affectionately, if Elysee remembered again the woman wanted to laugh at how Matthias' expression said love but with a flat expression.
Like father, like child. The fruit does not fall far from the tree, that's Matthias, just like his father.
.
.
You are relaxing on the balcony, enjoying the hot spring, so warm but shady.
Down there, in the garden, you see your mother-in-law, Elysee and Matthias' grandmother, Norma, busy staring at Felix and Aire who are playing with each other, your and Matthias' children.
While your husband? Matthias, the man is busy cooing affectionately behind you, kissing your bare shoulder affectionately because you are wearing an Off-shoulder dress. Damn, this man knows the opportunity in adversity.
Many things have happened during the 9 years you have been with Matthias, you have faced the ups and downs together, but you know that Matthias wants to learn and tries to prove himself. As a result, the man becomes like a cat in heat, always wanting to be close and not wanting to be far away.
"Matty! Don't bite! Later mom and grandma will see, I'll be embarrassed"
You complain because this time Matthias bites and sips lovingly leaving a mark on your bare shoulder.
While Matthias, the man is only busy kissing, sucking your shoulder and neck, his hands also don't stay still on your thigh, stroking affectionately. Never mind that it was currently in public, but fortunately the balcony railing was 100% covered with carved marble, so the people below only saw that Matthias and you were just hugging.
"Don't refuse like that my love, it's your own fault for wearing such revealing clothes, this is called an invitation for me"
Matthias continued kissing and nuzzling your shoulder and neck.
"Felix and Aire are already 8 years old, isn't it time for them to have a new sibling?"
"No! Wait until they are 10 years old, then a new sibling"
Too bad, your husband didn't accept the rejection, instead Matthias stared with a mischievous grin.
.
.
Elysee chuckled softly at what she had just seen, causing amazement at Norma and the 2 little kids who were currently sitting in front of them, resting because they were tired of running and playing.
Norma snorted and drank her tea slowly, softly asking.
"What made you chuckle so cutely Elysee?"
Elysee just smiled shaking her head, and poked Felix's cheek which was a copy of Matthias and also rubbed Aire who was busy eating pastry.
"Nothing mom, I think we need to build another house"
Blinking one eye mischievously at her mother-in-law Norma, while Norma who was given that just laughed happily.
Wiping away tears slowly because she was tired of laughing. Norma knew exactly what Elysee meant, a new presence, a new member, Felix and Aire's future sibling.
"Well, at least our Matthias is full of energy to want to have lots of children"
The two middle-aged women laughed together, making the two little children in front of them look at each other, shake their heads slowly and just continue eating the pastry served in front of them.
.
.
.
On the balcony, Matthias was still busy kissing your shoulder and neck affectionately which was so tempting to his desire.
His hands were so adept at entering your lower dress, rubbing your soft thighs gently with full squeezes passion.
"Matt! Not here!"
You tried to protest Matthias, but like talking to a wall, Matthias ignored your protest.
Until his ladder slipped into your underwear, rubbing your sensitive intimate area slowly.
"Matthias!?". The more firmly you refused, the wilder Matthias became.
"What love? I know you enjoy it"
Matthias naughtily sucked your neck slowly, while his 2 fingers were busy moving back and forth in your sensitive area, so deep and expert.
You were only able to hold back your moans, afraid that a servant would pass through the balcony door or Grandma and mother would see you both suspiciously from down there, as much as possible you acted normal.
"Come on love, don't be so shy, I know you enjoy it"
Your ass was slapped lightly by Matthias deliberately full of temptation.
His hands got faster when he felt your walls squeezing his fingers.
"Want to come out love? Yes? Come to me love, came to my hands"
Until, you came hard! Both of your hands covered your mouth to muffle your moans, your eyes closed while your legs shook unable to bear the weight.
While Matthias' fingers were still busy moving slowly, down there, Matthias could feel and see the puddles of water falling. You squirted, it turned out.
Matthias chuckled softly and kissed your cheek tenderly.
Matthias passionately devours your lips, forcing his tongue into your mouth, tracing every inch of your mouth. Claiming it to be his.
You who are out of breath try to pat Matthias' chest, but Matthias this man is full of passion, so you bite his lips and scratch his neck, causing blood spots on his lips and neck.
Matthias just winces softly before pulling your hair back, not too roughly but not too slowly, enough to make you look at him.
Matthias' passionate eyes stare directly at you, whispering sensually right in front of your lips, while licking the corner of your lips affectionately.
"Feels so good love? Do you want to continue here or in the room hmm?"
Damn, your fate is so unlucky to marry this shameless nobleman but god, you cant hold your heart, you love this man, as same as matthias love you.
His secret, his little heaven secret.

Hello, good morning/afternoon/evening/night. I'm the anon that requested for the platonic!dad Lilia vanrouge headcanon. I've finished reading it and I would love to request for the biological one! The adopted headcanon was amazing. And I also apologize for for not putting in my request with more thought 😅.
Thanks for the ask! I can totally do that! And don't worry about it, I was hoping to get to write both anyway <3
(I don't know if I'm thinking too far into it, but I wasn't sure if you wanted pre NRC or present, so I'm going with the same as last time)
!Platonic!Dad! Lilia Vanrouge x Biological Daughter
(Kinda a second part to This in a way)
Tumblr media
However it came to be; a one night stand, a past lover, or some freak magic accident, you were Lilia's one and only blood relative left. His darling daughter.
Don't get me wrong, Lilia loved Silver and Malleus more than anything, but it felt different looking at you and being able to sense his fae blood running through your veins.
When you were left to the single father's care it was after he had already dealt with a newborn dragon. He believe that as you were his own flesh and blood you'd surely be easier to care for, but oh how wrong he was.
If anything, you were MORE difficult to deal with because you were his own flesh and blood.
Lilia finally got a taste of his own medicine when you started imitating his pranks (how did you even get in such a high cabinet).
At least he understands your magic and can help you figure out how to control it.
He treats you virtually the same as if you were his adopted child, just with the fact that you have his magic in mind- . . .he looked away for one second, where'd you go?
One time, Lilia left you and Silver with a pre-teen Malleus for him babysit as he had something to attend to. Silver spent the whole time sleeping whilst you spent the whole time making malleus play games with you (he didn't mind, he was just happy to have a friend). Lillia came back to see you and Malleus reenacting the war with wooden animals Baur had carved for you (maybe he told you too many stories of his glory days).
Lilia still loves doing your hair- what's that? You want to do his hair?
The other generals keep their mouths shut, but their eyes are glued to the great Lilia Vanrouge and his messy, lopsided pigtails with bright pink and blue bows on each for the entire briefing.
You escaped the cottage once when he looked away to try and get Silver to eat his food, and he had no clue where you were for almost a day. He was freaking out and about to take his magearm and go on an all-out rampage when he got a letter from the queen saying you had 'made a delightfully unexpected visit to the castle for a playdate with Malleus.'
Lilia rushed over to the castle immediately, ready to scold you, but when he got there he couldn't bring himself to. Instead, he fell to his knees crying as he watched you and Malleus sleep softly: cuddled up to each other. The queen found him in this state and simply patted him on the back before recounting how he and her daughter had once pulled a very similar stunt back in their youth. (he has her recount any and all stories of him causing trouble as a child in order to hopefully have a leg up on any stunts you pull in the future)
Right when he thinks he knows how to handle anything you throw at him, you come home with an owl bear cub in toe asking tow. You recount the story of how you found it next to its unmoving mother, and he has no choice but to let you keep it.
When you tell him you want to name the owl bear 'Bear' he tries to argue with you that it's not a very good name, but you win. Bear it is.
Anytime you and Silver go out in the woods to play he sends Bear with you just in case.
Baur gets quite the shock when he comes to pick up his grandson from the cottage only to find him riding on the back of an owl bear as it chases you and silver (you were just playing tag).
He turns to the cottage to see what Lilia was planning to do about this only to see him casually. . .barbequing (if you can even call it that) in the garden and watching you all play. Baur ends up staying longer than expected, mostly to salvage whatever slop Lilia was making for his poor kids, but also to hear Lilia's explanation as to WHY IN THE GREAT SEVENS' NAMES THERE'S AN OWL BEAR PLAYING WITH THE KIDS.
The time finally comes for Lilia to head off to NRC with Malleus, Silver, and Sebek, but this time let's say (for the sake of being different that the other fic) that you somehow end up there as well. Lilia would have liked you to be in Diasomnia with him, but you instead end up going to Ramshackle with the prefect. This is an all-boys school after all, so the best place for you to be on campus is probably in the dorm with the only other female student. (That and Bear came with you and Ramshackle already has Grim so. . .)
There's no telling what trouble you'll get to in your time staying at NRC, but rest assured that Lilia will be there to help you out (whether that means getting you out of trouble or helping you cause more).

DISTANCE MAKES THE HEART GROW ANGRIER
✸ pairing: jason grace x daughter of minerva! reader
✸ summary: you don’t know anything about jason anymore, except for the fact that you hate him for leaving
✸ warnings: kinda angsty…BUT I SWEAR THERE’S FLUFF AT THE END!! hurt / comfort type, & i think i swore like twice whoopsie
✸ notes: this might be my longest fic yet, hello? i mean, that’s not saying much but STILL
Tumblr media
you didn’t know much about jason grace as of lately. it was true that there once was a time that even the smallest of scratches on his skin weren’t a mastery to you, a time when you knew him better than you knew yourself.
until six months ago, when he disappeared without a trace and left you all alone.
as a daughter of minerva, you’d never had many friend to begin with aside from the two praetors of new rome, for your skills and intellect set you apart from your fellow members of the legion and as leader of the first cohort, you were high up in the ranks anyways.
but now, six months later, you found yourself filling the post of second praetor not because you wanted to, but because you had to. the weight of the world had fallen upon your shoulders in only a fortnight
then, percy jackson had appeared.
you’d given him the position you held graciously, but it did nothing to repair the damage done that caused you to be emotional and physically strung out beyond relief.
you didn’t know much about jason grace anymore, except for the fact that you hated him, and unlike reyna, would not be welcoming him back with open arms when he arrived at camp jupiter as percy said he would.
and arrive he did, aboard a flying warship with three other demigods you’d never seen in your life.
while percy, reyna, and the rest of the legion welcomed them in with open arms, you were nowhere to be found.
jason’s eyes scanned the crowd over and over again and each time failed to find just the face he was looking for.
ever since his memories had been returned, the son of jupiter had been driving himself crazy with anticipation to see you again.
the curve of your soft lips and spark in your eyes; the flex of you muscles as you fought and the amused quirk of your brow when you inevitably won. he remembered it all and he missed it all so much that he thought it just might suffocate him. to him, every minute without you was another minute closer to asphyxiation.
fortunately, even after six months, you were still the same girl he had always known. the same one who would tie her shoe laces with two loops instead of one and always had to step out the door with her left foot first.
the same girl who knew him better than himself, and who he knew just as well.
so when he walked into your typical getaway spot, you couldn’t really say you were surprised.
hidden and tucked away in the corner of the new rome library you sat, a book you could’ve even say the name of propped open in front of you just in case someone came in and you needed to look occupied.
you hadn’t read a word since you’d gotten in there, for your brain was too busy reeling with thoughts about the boy who was now sliding his way through the front door to the library in search of you.
you heard footsteps enter the otherwise pen-drop silent room and darted your eyes to the page of your book, resting your face in your hand and letting hair fall over your face in hopes it might cover you up and by some miracle, conceal your identity.
but unfortunately for you, jason would know you anywhere.
he stopped in his tracks when his eyes fell on you, his darling girl hiding away in a corner, trying to disguise herself from the world. you weren’t in your official centurion getup like everyone else, but instead jeans and a purple camp jupiter t-shirt that exposed the four lines scored across your arm.
four years. four years that you had known jason, and four years that had been stolen from him just like that.
“yn?” he uttered, asking even though he knew for certain that it was you.
you didn’t answer, just flipped the page of the book you weren’t reading. it bruised his heart a little bit, but he expected nothing less ever since your absence at the welcome party.
he walked closer, testing the water in hopes that you’d at least spare him a glance up. when you didn’t even give him that much, he crossed the room fully until he was standing in front of the table you sat at.
“i braced myself when reyna told me you were mad, but i didn’t expect for you to ignore my existence entirely,” he told you after the silence became too much to bear.
with a huff, you snapped your book dramatically shut and looked up at him, avoiding eye contact and making yourself seem as uninterested as you could possibly scrounge up.
for the first time in months, you took in the beautiful sight that was jason grace. he looked almost the same, with his starry eyes and pretty smile. except he was dressed in a eye-stabbingly bright orange shirt that read camp half-blood on it and was seemingly a size too small, considering how it distractingly hugged his biceps a little too snugly.
he still looked like him, but if he was masquerading around as someone he wasn’t. a son of zeus and not jupiter. a quest leader and not a praetor. a teenage boy, not a soldier.
“library’s closed, and you don’t have authorization to override that rule anymore,” you told him bluntly. “or did you forget how to read, too?”
“okay, ouch,” he nodded, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans to stop himself from fidgeting. but that was the girl he knew: assertive and naturally bossy, for lack of a better word. a true leader, just like himself.
“i’m trying to read, leave,” you mumbled, keeping your eyes off of his.
“i know you’re not reading that,” he rolled his eyes, knowing that you didn’t see it became if you had, he would’ve been chided.
“yes, i am.” you insisted, reopening the book.
“sweetheart,” he sighed, pushing the cover shut again and pointing to the bleary title. “it’s in italian. which if i remember correctly, you don’t speak.”
your cheeks flushed with embarrassment, but you were mad at him, gods damn it, and you were gonna act like it.
slamming the book down, you pushed yourself to your feet and began towards the door, not giving him the decency of another word.
poor jason didn’t know what was going on. he didn’t know why you were acting this way or why he didn’t get the overwhelming joy of you running to his arms like annabeth had percy’s. no, instead you ran off at the mention of him and refused to meet his eyes.
he’d lost six months with you, and briefly lost the memories of all four years of you, there was no way he was going to lose you now too.
the fear of losing you— all of you— for good had a grip on him so tight that it made him catch your wrist with his hand before you could leave, and the touch of your skin against his sent a refreshing shock through his senses. one chance was all he needed to make sure you didn’t slip through his fingers again.
“don’t go,” he said. “please. i— i don’t really know what’s wrong, but i know that i want to and that i want to fix it.”
for the first time again, your eyes met his. but where his were soft and concerned, yours were glassy and inflamed.
“you don’t know?” you glowered loudly, voice echoing in the silent and empty library, eyes holding angry tears. “jason, you left me! and for months, i tried to figure out what was wrong with me that made you do it, until everyone reminded me that it doesn’t matter what i think or how i feel, because there’s people to take care of and responsibilities to handle.”
jason stared at you, all the things he’d planned to say suddenly lost as he processed your broken words.
“and yeah, i know now that it was all juno, but by the time i was told, everything had already changed too much.”
“too much?” he questioned, looking down at you like a wounded puppy and yanking on your heartstrings.
it wasn’t his fault, none of it was. the involuntary leaving, the memories being wiped, the identity shattering feeling of being an amnesiac. it was all juno and her twisted plans and jason was just a victim of it, and you knew that.
but he had forgotten you once, so what would stop him from doing so again? or worse, what if he had gotten all these memories of you back and the fresher version of his mind had decided that you just weren’t worth it anymore? maybe you never were.
you were just protecting yourself, your heart.
at first when he left, you’d prayed every night he’d come back, wished on every shooting star and dandelion. but then you were forced to accept that no, he wasn’t coming back and somebody had to step up. you had to step up.
it hurt so hard to have your life flipped upside down and take on more than you could even imagine, you just couldn’t do it again.
who’s to say that the minute you let him back in, he wasn’t going to be ripped right away again?
“too much.” you restated. “before percy showed up, i was filling your position and holding my own. all while people either asked me what happened to you or looked at me like i was some poor, little wounded deer, and helping reyna keep everything from falling apart, and with fucking octavian breathing down my neck! and the whole time i couldn’t think of anything but you, and your stupid…you!”
you groaned and shoved your face in your hands to hide the tears that had already started falling, the frustration becoming too much.
slowly, jason put a hand on your shoulder and pulled you into his chest, to which you let yourself slowly collapse into his embrace, your hands the only barrier between your face and his chest.
he wrapped his arms around you carefully like he’d done many times before, rocking back and forth as a silent attempt to calm you. he felt a little guilty for enjoying the feeling of you in his arms again, given the circumstances.
“i’m sorry,” you whimpered into the cotton fabric of his ugly orange shirt. “it’s not your fault. and you don’t deserve to be yelled at or ignored. i’m so sorry.”
“it’s okay,” he murmured into your hair. “i’m sorry for letting you think there was ever anything that could make me want to leave you. and, i’m sorry for not remembering everything sooner.”
you must’ve looked pretty damn rough for him to be apologizing that his memories were stolen by a goddess.
“you really remember?” you whispered into his chest, scared that if you said it too loudly the answer might change.
“yeah,” he answered, picking his head up off yours and tapping the back of your head to draw you out of his chest.
you didn’t go far, looking up at him while still in his arms, tear-streaked face and all.
“there she is,” he mused. “there’s my pretty girl.”
the frown on your face deepened at that, purely because your face was surely red and covered in tears, and he decided to compliment it anyways.
“everything? you remember it all?” you sniffed.
“everything.” he confirmed. “like how this is where you go when you’re stressed,” he dipped his head down and kissed your cheek.
“and your favorite color’s light blue,” he kissed your other cheek. “and you prefer mystery books to romance,” your forehead. “and i even remember the time i tied your shoe for you and got kicked in the face in exchange.” your nose.
you were eye-to-eye now, drowning in oceanic blue surrounding his blown-up pupils.
a small giggle passed your lips at the last anecdote, pressing a nostalgic smile onto your lips. “i missed you,” you admitted.
“i missed you too,” he said. “can i have a kiss now?”
you smiled and pulled his face to yours, capturing his familiar and dearly missed lips with your own. after all the fussing and fighting you’d done, he could have as many kisses as he wanted.

Steve is fighting a losing battle.
He’s fighting it regardless – there's something kind of courageous about that, he thinks.
Or maybe it’s just stupid.
Steve doesn’t care, he’s gonna fight it anyway.
The battle involves the stairs – the landing, to be specific, and the way it has become an unofficial final resting place for so much of his daughters' shit.
So much.
He loves his children. He loves them more than anything, actually.
Still, they drive him goddamn insane sometimes. They just – they’re teenagers, right? So they’re spending all their time holed up in their rooms which, fine, sure, whatever, that’s normal enough. But why, then, is their stuff all over Steve’s house?
Steve isn’t the kind of guy who needs the house spotless, or whatever, but he could do without it looking like a tornado-stricken Walmart.
Hair dryers and bottles of nail polish in the living room, Hazel’s makeup all over the kitchen counter, phone chargers and headphones all over the bathroom, and – Jesus Christ – the sweatshirts. Between his three daughters every single surface in his house has a discarded sweatshirt on it, and it’s not like he can do anything about it because he has no goddamn clue which ones belong to which kid and guessing wrong leads to World War-level fighting.
His solution: he’ll just leave all their stuff on the landing so as they head upstairs to barricade themselves in their rooms, they’ll see it and take it up with them.
The problem with his solution: the girls (who he loves so much) just step right over the mess and continue on their way.
“Why the hell am I stepping on fucking hairbrushes going down the stairs?” Eddie asks him one day.
“You wouldn’t be if your children would just bring their shit up to their rooms,” Steve replies drily.
Later, when the girls get home from school, Robbie passes through the kitchen where Steve and Eddie are sitting at the counter.
“Hello, my darling daughter,” Eddie says, “How was your day today?”
“Fine,” she replies, not taking her eyes off her phone as she heads for the stairs just like she always does.
“Robbie,” Steve says, “I left your books on the stairs. Please take them up with you.”
“Uh-huh,” she mumbles, but as she approaches the books it becomes evident that she would be doing no such thing.
“Robbie,” he calls, “Amelia Robin.”
The only response he gets is the sound of her bedroom door closing.
“I’m listing all this shit on eBay – swear to god,” he tells Eddie as he waves a hand loosely in Robbie’s direction in a can you believe this shit kind of gesture.
Eddie replies, “Maybe list her too while you’re at it.”

Hello! I was wondering if you could write a James Hook x Reader. She’s Hans’ daughter but her relationship with him is complicated. Since he couldn’t become king he wants the reader to marry a prince so she can be a queen in the future. She tells him no prince would ever fall for her bc she’s a VK to get him to stop pressuring her. But the truth is she doesn’t even want to marry a prince bc she likes James.
Although she’s Hans’ daughter she’s friends with Bridget and Ella bc she’s nothing like her father personality wise and doesn’t want to be ever. Which is why James became intrigued with her and flirts. She’s always standing up for Bridget.
Anyway at the end Hans somehow finds out what’s going on between reader and James. Later at night he confronts the reader about it stating that she will marry a prince. But she finally stands up for herself. You can decide what he says but then he leaves and she breaks down but James comforts her bc he heard everything. You can decide the rest.
Sorry this is long thank you in advance!
oooo okay okay I can try! ; just so yk I only do gn / they/them readers but I usually keep gender pretty ambiguous lol ; thanks for requesting, hope you enjoy! ; also this gives pink pony club and I need someone to agree cause I feel crazy for thinking it ??? ; update on that I listened to ppc and it's now heavily influenced on that last part
JAMES HOOK ; complicated
summary ; a vk who acts like an ak catches his attention, fascinating him
warnings ; language, use of gorgeous but in a gn way who cares about societal norms
word count ; 1.5k

Tumblr media
"That boy, uh... Prince Charming, at your school, why not marry him?"
"Oh my fucking Christ, Dad" You groan. "One, I'm a VK, two, he doesn't like me, nor do I like him, three, stop with this conversation"
"What about that Snow White girl?"
You grumble, stomping away to your room to get away from your self projecting father. Every day for the past God-knows-how-long he'd keep bringing up you marrying into a royal family. Just because he lost a girl by being a douchebag apparently meant he had to project his insecurities on you.
You weren't like him at all, nor did you ever want to be. He was a complete asshat from what he's told you, thinking he was always in the right. You were a VK gone soft, or a VK with morals and a good heart, whatever floats your boat.
Your best friends Bridget and Ella were AK's who'd welcomed you into the good side with open arms. They were quiet and sort of shy, too scared to stand up for themselves. But that's why they had you, because being born as a villain kid meant you could be mean, you could use your voice to get what you wanted, or at least try.
"Go away, Hook. Leave her alone." you call, walking up on James and Maleficent picking on Bridget and her bright pink flower themed cake.
"Or what?" He questions, leaning away from Bridget, turning to you as you stand in front of her. "Gonna walk the plank for me?"
You roll your eyes. "Are you looking for a fight? What do you guys get out of doing this?"
He shrugs deviously. "Entertainment, darling."
"Go away," you order, "Unless you really wanna put your Captain title at risk." You turn around, pulling Bridget away from the duo.
"Confident, are you?" He laughs. "Wait and see, gorgeous," he turns around, pulling his partner along.
Maleficent hisses, watching as you and Bridget walk away.
"What's with you and that fake VK?" she asks him.
James shrugs.
Tumblr media
"Well, hello again, darling"
"Don't you ever go away?"
"You've got a mouth for an Auradon Kid, don't you?" He chuckles. "Wait... you're not an Auradon Kid. You're a VK."
You roll your eyes. "Just cause I was conceived by a villain doesn't mean I am a villain"
He sighs. "Whatever helps you sleep at night."
You turn around, seeing him still standing over you. Can't a person get five minutes alone in the library?
"What do you want?"
He shrugs. "Wanted to ask why you've joined the good side. You're always defending those girls. It's weird"
"How is having morals weird?" you ask. "Genuinley. Sit"
He glances around with furrowed brows before joining you, taking a seat beside you. He sits sideways to face you, resting his hooked hand on the table.
"What makes you think harassing people is fun?"
He shrugs. "It's funny, entertaining."
"Sadly, I can't control your actions." you speak with a light sigh, turning back to your book.
"Why do you defend them?" He asks rather swiftly.
"Because they're my friends?" you reply.
He tilts his head. "You're fascinating"
You groan. "I'm a normal, not evil person"
"And I'm not?"
"No, you're a bitch"
Tumblr media
"Hello, love"
"Piss off"
"You should be nicer to me. After all..."
"Close your damn mouth. There is nothing going on between us"
Bridget and Ella, wide-eyed, turn to you.
You exhale through your nose, slowly closing your eyes to find yourself and to not freak out. You look at them, a kind smile on your face.
"There is nothing going on between us" you repeat.
"I'd beg to differ..." James mumbles while Morgie giggles.
You turn to the girls. "Go to class, I'll be there in a minute"
They nod, walking to the classroom just down the hall.
You cross your arms, waiting for James to speak. Morgie stands beside him before he's shoo'd away, making the conversation private.
James smiles, pulling a sandwich bag out of his coat. Inside rests three slightly crumbled cookies that he'd made just for you. He holds them out to you, a cautious and slightly concerned look on his face.
"Sorry your dad's been... y'know"
You shrug, accepting the sweet treats. "It's fine, just pisses me off. Thank you, though"
"Anytime, darling"
"You need to stop with that. Someone's gonna catch on that there is actually something going on between us"
"Eh, I'm alright with that"
Tumblr media
"See you later, pirate boy"
"Hook you later, love"
You press a chaste kiss to his lips before running up the front steps of your house, opening the door with a small smile on your lips. You close the door behind you, watching through the window as your little love interest walks away.
You walk into the living room, saying hello to your father, backpack slung over your shoulder. "I'm home"
"How was your day?" He asks, flipping the TV to another channel.
Your ears painfully vibrate due to the sound of your father sharpening a knife in his lap. God, he couldn't pick a better time?
"Fine," you wince. "I'll be in my room. I have homework"
You quickly walk away before he can speak anymore, knowing leftover dinner was in the fridge for you to access. Having homework wasn't a lie, but you were definitely lying about doing it.
As darkness fell, and after you'd dropped multiple hours cleaning your room, you opened up your window, allowing the fresh, cool air into the stuffy warm room. You lean against the window sill, awaiting your dumb love, the breeze brushing against your face.
You knew this was wrong, all of it. You'd been having wicked dreams of leaving Auradon, hearing new, distant lands calling your name. You'd never make your father proud. He'll see his baby and scream, 'God, what have you done?' as you wave goodbye on a ship with James, dressed to explore the world.
You had dreams, he had expectations.
You imagined a wide open sea, James Hook at your side, the salty air against your face. It was a daydream, one that could be accomplished. You imagine a whole world to explore, all the things you'd never seen, you'd be able to experience. From waterfalls to exotic animals, you wanted to see it all, you wanted to see all the sunsets and cultural differences. You wanted it all.
"Hey!"
"Hi!"
You watch as Hook climbs up the tree in your front yard, then use your little zipline connected to the roof to enter your room through the window. You grab his hand, pulling him into the refreshed bedroom you called home.
He rests his hands around your waist, his signature smirky-smile upon his face. "I missed you oh-so dearly"
You scoff. "It's been like, five hours"
He pulls you closer, smashing your lips together like this was some romantic romance movie where the two main characters had to leave each other in the end. He shoves you to the bed, allowing you to sit on the mattress as he stands over you, his hook lightly tracing your jawline, his hand resting on the nape of your neck.
Your door flings open, the two of you jumping in fear, eyes glued to the room's entrance. James quickly scrambles out the window, leaving you alone to deal with your father.
"Are you kidding me, Y/n?! First you're kissing a boy outside, then you're sneaking him into my house! For the last time, you'll be marrying into royalty, not sneaking around with some pirate wannabe!" Your father shouts. "I'll be boarding up your window from now on and I'll be taking this damn door away too."
"Just because you have a soft ego and are a narcissistic piece of shit doesn't mean you can force your insecurities on to me!" You yell. "My love life has nothing to do with you at all. I'm not going to be some teenage newlywed so you can ruin a whole kingdom's worth of lives through me. I am not you and I will never be you!"
He's too stunned to speak, surprised that you've talked back, the words leaving your lips like you had them ready to use. You stare into his soul, heavily breathing, fists clenched as you stand in front of him.
You rush to the window as he leaves, slamming the door behind him, not sure how to approach the situation. You slide out the open window, holding back tears.
James quickly wraps you in a hug, allowing you to crumble in his arms.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" He whispers, holding onto you tightly.
"It's fine" You shake your head with a grumble. "Fuck"
His hand rubs your shoulder.
You sit in silence with him for a few minutes, carefully listening as your father stomps around the house.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, love. Do you need somewhere else to stay?-"
"I'm fine" You reply. "I'll be fine"
He's silent for a moment. "I don't feel comfortable leaving you here"
"He won't hurt me. He's a wimp with an ego." You shrug.
He nods. "Yeah, that's true"
You quickly look up at him, a random thought in your brain. "Have you ever seen a flamingo before? In real life?"
"I've conquered the seven seas, babe. Of course I have"
"Cool"

That pic of mary and the baby hello…..i know you have written similar stuff before for her but could you do a blurb where the reader and mary have a baby together? maybe reader brings them to a match, once it’s over mary comes over to see them and takes the baby who instantly buries their head in her chest and all mary’s teammates notice and rush over to come see their favourite supporter
part of the a date to remember universe series 🫶🏻
crowd favourite II m.earps
you’d finally convinced your wife to let you bring your little bundle of joy to her first ever international football match, an england friendly against germany which being a euros rematch had already attracted a sold out crowd.
your wife forever over protective of both you and your little now nine month old daughter had banned the two of you from the previous england games claiming that the crowds became far too rowdy.
after a couple of months you’d started to take delilah to some of her home united matches, mary much more trusting of the crowds it drew in and knowing worse case she could be by your side in a minute if need be.
but now when you were up in the family and friends box staring down at your wife who was merely a spec in the wonderous size of a packed out wembley stadium, you’d needed to assure her over and over you would both be absolutely fine.
“well now do my eyes deceive me or is mrs earps finally off house arrest?” your head moved up toward the grinning blonde making her way over to you as you carefully stood with your daughter in your arms.
“hi lee.” you greeted the captain with a smile, kissing her cheek as she hugged you with one arm mindful of your daughter. “god she’s getting big, look at the hair on her!” leah gasped in surprise, ruled out from the game with a tweak in her knee sarina didn’t want to risk.
“you should see mary’s baby photos, this is nothing!” you laughed, kissing your daughters forehead affectionately before carefully passing her over to leah. you watched with a fond smile as the younger girl cooed at your daughter, face brightening as delilah rewarded her with a few giggles for her efforts.
“are you coming down?” leah asked nodding outside where you knew she’d shortly head down to sit behind the players bench with the rest of the staff. “i don’t think I have the clearance for that!” you laughed, handing off your daughter again to marys mum as she returned from the bathroom.
“please. look who you’re with! this face is all the clearance you need my girl.” leah grinned gesturing to herself making you roll your eyes playfully. “go! i’ve got her sweetheart she’s due for a nap soon anyway, mary will appreciate you being there.” julie smiled warmly.
“i’m just gonna see if she’ll feed before kick off. she was really fussy this morning with the bottle and mary not being home.” you sighed at the memory, barely able to have her drink more than a few mouthfuls.
taking delilah and grabbing your bag you moved toward the parents room, locking the door after you.
“-and you’re sure you don’t mind?” you asked your mother in law for the third time after your returned who shook her head with a laugh and waved you off. “darling she’s fed and fast asleep. go and enjoy the game!” the woman shooed you away as leah grabbed your hand, pulling you with her as you blew your daughter one last kiss.
“alright leah relax you’re gonna rip my arm off mate!”
~
“hi sexy.” you grinned at your wife as she finally made her way over after saying hi to as many fans as she could, the rest of the girls not far after her revelling in their 3-1 win.
“mary!” you squealed as your wife manhandled you up and over the barrier, placing you down on the pitch and kissing you fiercely earning you a few wolf whistles as you pulled away and buried your face in her shoulder.
“you’re so sweaty.” you mumbled with a sigh as she hugged you tightly, making a point to rub her face into your shirt as you pushed her off. “hello mrs earps! now where is mini earps?” you were quickly tugged into another sweaty hug by millie.
“up in the box with mary’s mum. nice to see you too brighty!” you poked accusingly at her chest. “excuse me it’s not my fault your bulldog of a wife won’t let us meet her unless through facetime!” millie pouted, several of the other girls around you joining in on their demands to meet delilah.
“hey i’ve been ready to bring her to the last three england games.” you defended, your wife sending you a murderous side eye for throwing her under the bus as her friends and team mates continued to whine at her.
“oh you guys haven’t met her? what a shame!” you were once again lifted into a sweaty hug as a smug alessia twirled you around and placed back on your feet, ignoring the unimpressed protests that followed her remark.
“stop winding them up. i’m raising you to be a pleasant and humble individual young lady!” you smacked her on the arm with a warning look as the blonde only grinned and kissed your cheek before you were pulled in by tooney who continued the teasing that the two of them saw your daughter almost daily.
“not a single one of you are laying a finger on her until you’ve showered, changed and washed your hands at least twice!” mary shouted sternly above all the noise, several of the girls all racing off to the change rooms making you laugh at their obvious eagerness.
“now look what you’ve done. whipped them into a bloody frenzy!” mary grumbled as she hugged you from behind, placing a few lazy kisses to your jaw as you leant into her secure hold, wincing slightly as she adjusted her arms to sit higher.
“hey love you alright?” she was back in front of you in an instant, hand caressing your cheek with a concerned stare as you nodded. “my boobs are killing me, i got her to feed earlier but i need to pump soon.” you mumbled in annoyance at your least favourite part of motherhood, your constantly aching chest.
“well i’ll make sure to give them lots of love and extra special attention and kiss them better for you later tonight baby.” the keeper whispered in your ear with a cheeky grin, hand moving around you to harshly squeeze your bum before giving it a smack as your eyes widened and you pushed at her chest.
“hope you’re washing your hands twice too after that little show mother mary!” millie and rach grinned wiggling their eyebrows at the woman, eyes widening as she lunged at them, chasing them off the pitch and back into the tunnel.
~
“hi gorgeous.” your wife was the first to appear upstairs, followed closely by a handful of her teammates whom you’d assume the girl kept held hostage in the change rooms until she was ready to come up herself.
“she just woke up, look whose back lilah!” you cooed rocking the infant in your arms as mary beamed, tickling underneath her chin as your daughter reached out for her eagerly.
a resounding chorus of aw’s echoed as mary scooped her up and your daughter buried her face in her hoodie covered chest, mary attacking her with kisses on every inch of her body as you watched on with a smile.
“right! make an orderly queue please girls. and no pushing! yes mills i’m looking at you when i say that.” your wife ordered sternly, bouncing your daughter on her hip as her team mates hurried to line up for a hold, the entire ordeal making you laugh.
“ah no! you let them have their turns you both saw her yesterday.” you were quick to grab both ella and alessia as they rushed past you, yanking them down into the seats beside you and ignoring their protests.
eventually they both gave up and rested their heads on either one of your shoulders, the three of you chattering about your plans to take delilah to the zoo next weekend. yet another thing you’d sworn the pair to secrecy over not wanting to upset the rest of their team mates much as the two loved nothing more than to flex their godmother and favourite aunty status about.
mary caught your eye with a grin as she protectively watched over your daughter, shaking her head at your two adopted daughters sprawled across your sides.
but neither of you would change a thing, your perfect little family.

Update Hogwarts Confidential
Hello my good people. It has been a very boring week. You all need to step up your game. But since there's less gossip there's going to be more updates and bs, cause why not.
Starting with this weekend is Ravenclaws final game of the season. In the game between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. Ravenclaw is supposedly hosting a board game night tonight whether they win or lose so dress comfy and get ready for the most competitive board game night ever.
After board game night, Hogwarts will begin setting up for the loveliest holiday, Valentine's Day. We will have mini cupids and even house elves set up to deliver love letters and telegrams to send to those you love. Professor Slughorn has even convinced Dumbledore to allow anonymous telegrams to take place.
And since I have nothing else to write for announcements I guess we'll hop back into our weekly gossip.
Starting with this previous weekend Phoenix Harvey and Jamie Ho preformed at karaoke night, both showing up in the best suits ever, showing off their hot bodies (especially Phoenix, I mean I could cook a steak on those steamy abs), then ending the night with a steamy kiss. Just kidding, we all know it was two bros showing each other some love and I believe calling a small truce.
Speaking of Phoenix the boy seems to have met up with Ho’s stunning girlfriend, Anastasia Selwyn. The two were caught hanging out in the snow before disappearing off into the woods where I believe the two actually finally kissed. I think Ho has gotten a little too trusting with the two while he's away.
Congrats Mr. Ho on your quidditch interviews.
Now onto a totally different couple(?) Aspen Parker and Noah Montague seem to be getting really close. The two were seen mingling and might I say heavily flirting at karaoke night before disappearing together and I believe I saw Aspen making her way to the older boys dorm just last night.
And another couple- why are there so many couples? Do y'all actually like each other? What is going on- is love actually in the air?
And on to our final couple for this week (boring), Xenophilius and oh wait this isn't about their girlfriend, this is about their secret relationship with none other than Lucius Malfoy. Xenophilius and Lucius were caught talking and even confessing their feelings to one another. Xeno even going as far as feeling the need to break up with his new girlfriend, Pandora. The two concluded their confession with parting ways instead, the boys guilt becoming too much for him to break up with the girl. But to be honest I called this soooo long ago. Pandora, honey, get your man. Xeno, sweetie, get your shit together. Lucius, darling, stop trying to ruin Pandora's relationships.
Anyways that's all for this week! Catch ya next time on Hogwarts Confidential!

can you make a fic where jake peralta is a girl dad?? he would be such a good girl dad too 😭😭 learning to do different hairstyles just for her, playing with her dolls, etc.
his daughter would totally be a mini amy though
Learning takes time
Jake Peralta x f!reader - fluff with a hint of angst
Tumblr media
★ Summary: Jake Peralta becomes a girl dad, and he has to learn something new every step of the way.
★ Word count: 3.8k (I always think I write WAY more than I do)
★ Proofread: no :)
★ Warnings: cutie patooties being cuie patooties? and english is not my first language and the timeline is weird at some point
★ Note: Anon this is so good I'm LIVING for jake peralta as a girl's dad! And I know you said Amy but I didn't realized that until like halfway writing this but I hope is not too bad anyways. Also some parts are based on my boyfriend's little brother and my baby cousin so shot out to them.
★ In The Beggining ★
When Jake became a dad he couldn't believe his eyes. The beautiful baby he held in his hands was HIS, she had a part of him in her. Like, DNA or somethign. And she was adorable. She definitely took a lot from her mother, who was now resting after 49 hours of delivery. Y/n has said the moment she held her that she was definitely going to take after him, fighting like she had been for staying near Y/n for a bit more. Jake knew she was joking but who was he kidding, his wife was so right. But now the baby was here. The baby. The small, little, minuscule person he had been waiting for for the last 8 months, since they foud out Y/n was pregnant after she refused to eat popcorn because they had been upsetting her stomach lately. It was Jake who had figures out what happened, realizing his wife would never turn down popcorn and that she hadn't had her period that month. And them BOOM! She's pregnant, 8 months go by in a flash and now he is holding her. Wow. He snuggled a little bit closer to her although he knew it was becoming impossible to be nearer, but it felt like heaven. A piece of heaven at least. She definitely was an angel. His girl. His girls, because Y/n was starting to be awake and spoke with a rough voice of screaming so much the past 2 days.
'Hello love' Jake said with a blinding smile on his face. 'Hi, handsome' she said smiling, tired but happy. Jake got close to the bed and sat on it, handing the little bundle of love to Y/n. She looked at the baby with the same affection and adoration as Jake, but then she seemed to remember something and looked at him, looking a little bit stressed. 'Jake' she called him, gaining his attention and making him stop looking at the baby. 'Yep?' he asked tentatively, worried about the look on his wife's face. 'We haven't chosen a name for her yet!' she exclaimed whispering at the same time, and Jake seemed to realized that too. 'Oh, shoot!' he said while she just nodded along 'We really have to!' he continued. 'You don't say!' Y/n retorted. They both looked down at the small person in Y/n's arms. 'How could we forget something so important?' she asked. 'I have no clue. Who even forgets putting a name to their daughter?' he moaned.
To be fair, they had been looking for a name since the day they foud out they were having a daughter, but nothing had shined as the perfect name. 'Maybe now that we see her face we can think of something' he proposed, and Y/n just looked at him sourly 'What? What did I say?' he asked then. 'Jake darling the problem isn't not having ideas, is having a good one and actually agreeing in one for once!' she said, half scolding him for the names he had suggested the past few months. 'The names I said weren't that bad' he defended himself. 'Should I remind you that you wanted to name our daughter Johanna after McClain?' she told him 'It's brilliant!' Jake exclaimed. 'Jake we are not going to name our daughter after a guy doing thingies in a building on Christmas!' she exclaimed back. 'Hey, take that back! I never said anything when you suggested Beth because of Little Women!' he retorted. 'Maybe because that's a sensible name' she argumented, finishing off the conversation saying 'Maybe now that we can see her we can think of a name' she said, and they both turned to look at the sleeping baby.
'She's cute' he said. 'Of course she's cute, she's ours' she turned to look at him smiling, and a lightbulb seemed to appear above Jake's head. 'That's it! he said, happily. 'What's it?' Y/n asked, confused about her husband's behaviour. 'Adelaide' he stated. A few seconds of silence were followed by a 'what??' coming out of Y/n's mouth. 'Think about it, I'm a genius!' Jake continued, starting to pace around the room like he was solving a vital case 'We've always talked about wanting to go to Adelaide, and it was where went for our honeymoon. Plus, is not too long because we can call her Addie but it would still sound good in a professional setting when she grows up! It's perfect!' he sentenced. Y/n pondered the information about a few seconds that felt like hours for Jake, who wanted his wife agreement on that. 'Okay, you ARE a genius' Y/n said after the everlasting silence. Jake bounced a bit before going back to the hospital bed, where he looked at his baby and at his wife, who was focused on her baby with a satisfied look on her face. 'Adelaide' he said, looking at the little girl fondly. 'Addie... damn it does sound good' Y/n said, also trying out the name. And after a moment of tranquility, peace and quiet, Y/n looked at Jake again and talked again 'you do know we still need a second name right?' All Jake coul do was groan a bit while Y/n laughed at the defeated attitude of her husband. There were going to be some difficult years for Jake.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
★ First times ★
Life as a father had challenged Jake in ways he couldn't imagine. Changing diapers had probably traumatized him forever, and he learnt that bathing a baby was not too far from just bathing himself, especially when Addie started becoming more aware of her surroundings and she started splashing everywhere and Y/n and Jake were wet from head to toe after giving her a bath. But the worst for Jake hadn't been the diapers or the first times eating new foods where Addie decided to just throw food absolutely everywhere, no - the worst were the first steps.
Jake knew he was supossed to be excited about his daughter's first steps. And the first ones were no problem - she stumbled a bit and fell about a million times and then cried for about 20 minutes before settling down, but that wasn't out of the usual and him and Y/n were over the moon - the problem came when she dominated the art of walking, and then the practice of running.
Every time they let her out of the trolley in the park, Jake had sore knees from chasing her around. She would just run and run until she tripped or slipped and then she ended up on the floor. And there were times in which she just stood up and Jake had to chase her again. But there were others in which she would truly hurt herself, and then Jake became the most soft man known. He would go sprinting to her, checking everywhere for blood because she knew she got nervous when she saw it, and then taking her and cuddling her for some time, telling her she would be ok and that daddy was with her. Y/n had told him a million times that he was spoiling her a little bit, and that she Addie had to learn to get up by herself and not cry every time she fell because then she would always do that and she had to learn to not go to dad every time something happened to her because she knows that he would give her everything he wanted if she cried a bit. Oh, what a cruel mother! Trying to give her child a small amount of reality and helping her grow up not spoiled! How dared she! Jake actually agreed with her, and he really, REALLY tried to not go to her everytime she fell, but to no avail. In each time she stumbled upon the groud, Jake would be by her side in less than 5 seconds. He couldn't bear to see her cry like that! And yes, maybe Y/n was the most sensible one for not running everytime and assessing the situation first because she honestly knew that falling in grass didn't hurt much, but he couldn't help himself. His dad had never been there for him, but now it was his turn to be there for his daughter when she fell. Even if it meant being scolded by his wife later on. At least he knew he was Addie's favourite for those things, and that she would always go to daddy when she got hurt.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
★ Not-so-professional professional stylist ★
Addie liked her dad for some things, but she would always go to her mom for others. Like getting her hair done. Jake had tried to learn how to do Y/n's hair a few times during their relationship, but given he had failed the times he had tried, he decided to let the hair department to Y/n. Actually, scratch that. He had done it because, you know, he was a nice husband and father and wanted her wife and daughter to hame some quality ttime together. Yeah, that sounds quite nicer.
But some days, Y/n left earlier, and if she didn't have time to do Addie's hair, Jake had to do it. Those days, Addie's hairstyles where much simpler than the ones that Y/n did, and the girl never complained. But Jake knew she was a bit sadder when she didn't have her mom to do her hair with the braids and other thingies Y/n did to her and that she liked so much. And, being the amazing dad he wanted to be, Jake decided that he was going to learn how to do those things for her.
He started learnign when Addie was on kindergarten, practising on Y/n's hair, who was equally excited about the idea and taught him how to do the hairstyles she did to Addie while letting him do them on her hair. Jake learnt the ones that Addie liked the most, and the practised every night. When his daughter was in elementary school, he was pretty good at them. So, one of the days that Y/n had left earlier, Jake decided to try one of them on Addie.
'Hey, princess?' he called her while she was brushing her teeth. She was so grown up that he foud it hard to believe he had held her in her arms on her first ever day on earth. Cool, cool cool cool. 'Yes?' she answered, rinsing her teeth. 'Can I try a new hairdo on you today?' he asked, while Addie turned around to see him. 'Why?' she asked, trying to figure out if her dad was about to turn her hair blue. 'Well, because your mom has taught me a few and I want to try one out' he explained, hoping she would trust him. 'Okay' the girl decided after a few minutes of thinking it through. He was about to hug her when she spoke again 'BUT if you turn my hair any funky colour I'm telling mom' she said. Jake smiled fondly while hugging her, relizing how much she spoke liker her mom. 'Please don't, she would ground me' he joked, letting Addie go. 'Yeah, she better, I can't go around with pink hair or something, Aunt Ames would have a heart attack' she said while sitting on the chair Y/n used to do her hair. Jake laughed a bit. She definitely also have part of his personality on her.
After 20 minutes of carfeully doing his daughter's hair, Jake stepped back to look at it. It looked exactly like the aroud 2000 times he had tried it on Y/n's hair. But the judge wasn't him; it was Addie. 'You can go look now if you want' Jake told her, nervous. Nervous. He was nervous about the opinion of a 9 year old. When had he become like that. Addie walked slowly to the mirror with her eyes close, and then opened one of them, tensed about what she could find. But then she opened both of them when realization starting hitting her. 'Do you like it?' he asked her, smiling a bit. 'Dad, it's like the ones mom does on me!' she giggled, turning a bit o look at it from behind. She then hugged her dad tightly, overjoyed 'Thanks for learning how to do this, dad' she spoke softly. Okay, definitely worth it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
★ Playtime ★
There were many things that Jake wasn't precisely a fan of as a girl dad. But there were some other that he strangely liked, and one of them was playing with her daughter and her dolls.
The dolls were impeccable for aroud 2 months, but then Addie started playing right with them, as Jake said, and the dolls would end up painted, half-bald and with interchanged clothes. Y/n tried to convince her daughter to take more care of the dolls, but to no avail. And Jake couldn't care less about the state of the dolls. What amazed him was the stories her daughter would make up with them. No soap opera could compete with the dramatic storylines of Addie.
One of the times when Jake arrived from a case happy, he sat to play with her, being ready to try to assimilate the far-fetched stories her kid made up. And oh, my, it was probably the best story he had ever heard. And mini Shakespeare was aroud 5 at the time. Jake had the best daughter ever.
'Hi Ads' he greeted her. Addie looked up to see her dad sitting with her. 'Daddy!' she exclaimed, having been so engrossed on the dolls that she hadn't realized her dad was with her. She hugged him and the sat on his laps, between his crossed legs, like she did with everyone in that position. 'So, tell me, what are you playing to?' he asked, interested in what could the story be this time. 'Do you want me to tell you the story?' she asked excitedly, with eyes shining with emotion. 'Of course!' Jake answered, and she got up from his lap to show him the characters of her story. 'This' she said, taking a blonde Barbie on her hand 'is Lady. This' she took a red haired Barbie 'is Rosa' she said. 'Like Aunt Rosa?' Jake asked. 'Exactly!' Addie said, even though Jake knew she named her toys after everyone she knew because she could never remebmer more names. 'And this is Carlos' she showed Jake a dark haired Ken. 'Carlos?' he asked, pretty sure they didn't know a Carlos. 'Mom told me the name, it's a driver or something and mom says my Ken looks like him' she shrugged her shoulders and Jake focused on the doll until he realized his wife had put Carlos to the doll after Carlos Sainz. Goddamit, that guy was everywhere if Y/n was aroud. 'Is there any more characters in the story?' Jake asked, knowing his daughter always forgot one or two. 'Oh, yeah!' she said, taking another Ken 'This is Paolo, he's Carlos brother'. 'Paolo?' he asked. 'From Friends. dad!' maybe they shouldn't let her watch so much TV, she was learning things. 'Come on, tell me the story' Jake invited her. And so the story began.
Apparently Lady and Rosa had been friends for like, forever, but then Lady met Carlos. And Rosa was like, totally ok with it, but actually, SHE WAS NOT OKAY WITH IT (shock) because she had liked Carlos for way longer, like 2 months or so. So Rosa planned on stealing Carlos from Lady, but on like a bar or something where she was with Lady and Carlos she met Paolo and they were like totally in love and they kissed! (oh my god they kissed!) So the four of them were happy together and they even moved together, but one day Rosa came late from work and foud Lady, Carlos and Paolo having a sleepover without her! Can you believe it? (how dare they) So obviously she was like super sad so she left, and Paolo left the country because he was like SO in love with Rosa and didn't want to be with anynone else so he left to Italy and became the Pope. (Can you just become the Pope?) And then Rosa killed Lady and Carlos for having a sleepover and not telling her and she also left to go live in Mexico because she liked the beach. The end.
Jake was doumbfounded. That had took a dark twist. But Addie had a big smile on her face like she had told him that she had had pizza for dinner, so her dad just patted her in the head a bit scared, and got up from the floor to go to talk to his wife. 'Did Addie tell you what her dolls are up to lately?' he asked Y/n, who was on the couch reading Vogue. 'She told you the Lady-Rosa-Carlos-Paolo thing?' she asked, not even looking up at him. Jake dropped on the couch, still shocked. 'And you are like, ok with it?' he asked. She dropped the magazine to a side and look at him. 'Of course not, I have already told her something' Her husband sighed. 'Oh, good, what did you tell her?' he asked, wanting to be on the same page about what to tell her. 'That Carlos would NEVER have a sleepover with someone behind other people's back!' she said, like what her daughter had done had been the most offensive thing ever. Jake looked at her and then they both started laughing, with Addie looking confused at them from the other side of the living room. Jake should most definitely tell his coworkers not to talk about cases around her anymore, she was starting to pick things up.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
★ The end of an era ★
'I just can't believe you're going to high school next week!' Jake exclaimed, watching his daughter get ready to leave. 'Dad, you gotta assume I'm 14 and I'm starting to leave the nest, you should talk to someone about this' she said, with the quick humour she had learnt in the last years. 'Your mom is a therapist, I have already talked to her about this and she says that this is a total normal reaction to a child advancing on school level' he retorted. 'Mom is also facing the change, maybe you should talk to someon ELSE' she got back at him, putting her hair in a braid that now she knew how to do alone. 'Yeah, but your mom is completely objective and would never lie to me' he said again. 'Dad' she said, turning away from the mirror to look at him 'mom also tells you that she doesn't hate Die Hard, maybe you should reconsider if what she tells you is always the truth' she clapped back. Damn she was good. 'Okay' he admitted his defeat. 'But I'm still kinda sad about you going to high school'. Addie sighed, and made her way out of the bathroom, taking her dad by the wrist and taking him to the couch, where she sat him and she went to sat on the armchair that was nearer to the couch.
'So, tell me, why is it that you are so scared about me going to high school?' she asked him, reclining back on the armchair. Jake looked at her with a surprised expression 'Are you therapizing me or something?' he asked. 'Yep' her daughter confirmed, gesturing him with the hand to start talking. Jake sighed, knowing that her daughter was smart and if he didn't tell her what what on his mind, she would eventually figure it out... ot she would ask her mom to ask him. 'I...' he started, not knowing where to begin 'I'm scared to see you leave. I know high school is not such a big deal and your'e not going to college yet or anything, but it's the last step. We don't do much things together anymore, and I'm realizing I can't stop time or make it go slower, and I definitely can't go back to do your hair or play with your dolls or running after you when you started to walk. And maybe we grow more distant the years you have left here, and the you'll leave for Standford, which is quite far away from here, and you'll move to the West Coast for a job and then we'll only see you on Christmas and you'll only call your mom and we'll never be you and me anymore, you know?' he told her. It was weird having to tell his own daughter all those things, but he knew it was for the best. When he stopped looking to the floor, he realized Addie had glossy eyes. He inmediately went to her and hugged her tightly. Some things never change.
When they let go of each other, the girl was the first one in talking 'Dad, I didn't know you felt like I never do things with you' she said. Jake smiled softly and wiped the tears from his daughter's face. 'I never told you, Ads' he said. She composed herself again and spoke 'Let's have a movie night every week' she proposed 'we choose a movie each week and we watch it, the both of us. It can be our thing!' she said, excitedly. Jake nodded. 'Of course, princess' he agreed, hugging her again. 'I love you, dad' he heard through the hug. 'I love you too, Ads' he answered her. She was still part of him.

Base Yandere Lucifer Morningstar Headcanons: He Will Move Heaven and Hell
[Hello, My Sexy Muffins! I am back with another chapter! This one, the base headcanons, and traits of Yandere Lucifer Morningstar from Hazbin Hotel! So wish me luck, anyway I hope you enjoy this!]
(Disclaimer: Lucifer Morningstar From Hazbin Hotel is not yandere in canon! This is just for fun and NOT to be taken seriously at all! Simping for fictional characters and yanderes is fine! Just do not be illegal or gross about it (You know who you are). Also, remember to separate fiction from reality and headcanon from canon! Yanderes are not ideal partners to have in real life.)
-Base Yandere Headcanons With Lucifer Morningstar From Hazbin Hotel-
.Lucifer has focused it looks like his last seven-ish years on not being a very active king of hell.
.Focusing on building his ducks and burying his depression.
.He does not have a LOT of people he sees on a day-to-day basis.
.Except for you, the person who is on his staff. It is your job to make sure that the king is taken care of.
.So you were more or less a babysitter and assistant to the king of hell.
.He was fond of you, okay that was a lie, he is right down smitten and obsessed with you.
.You are his ray of sunshine in the darkness of hell and he adores you.
.You have been with him for the last several years since his wife had gone missing.
.He had a strained relationship with his daughter and often talks to you about her.
.Telling you all the times he had with her. He just wants you to be part of his and his daughter's life.
.He of course still loves Lilith, but he has a love for you, where he NEEDS You.
.He often makes you ducks, he has given you so many duck-related things as gifts.
.He loves to spoil you, and a lot of time, it is something that is shaped like a duck or is duck themed, or is covered in ducks.
.He also loves to make your caramel apples as a treat.
.He will give you the best, because what is better than pure angelic power, especially from the man who so happens to love you the MOST?
.He does not want to share you and gets extremely guarded and protective of you when he deems a rival is around to threaten his claim to you.
.He is a lovable dork, and with his yandere side, this makes him also a TOTAL Puppy dog yandere.
.The slightest biggest love and affection and or attention that you show him he just gobbles up. He is very much "MY DARLING WANTS TO BE WITH ME!!!!! TAKE THAT DEPRESSION"
.He is also very much a physical touch kind fo romance, as Viv has confirmed.
.He loves to show his affection to you, with physical touch.
.Kissing up your arm, holding you in his arms, anything and everything. Even as things as simple as a graze of the hand.
.He loves to sing for you, writing romantic songs.
.But man oh man, can he be petty when it comes to rivals.
.Such as if Alastor were to say you and him were close.
.Who the fuck did that sinner think he was!
.He will have a constant dislike for anyone who tries to say they are something with you.
.He deals with rivals in two main ways. The first way, Being super fucking petty fr fr.
.Or by legit summoning hellfire which can burn them away and actually kill them.
.He does not play around when he gets to the point.
And if the person does hurt you, he will use the hell fire on that soul to kill them.
.He will show no mercy.
.You are the apple of his eye, his sweet love, a reason for him to stay in hell even if he was allowed back to heaven he would never go back because he adores you.
.He was once a dreamer, but he had lost those dreams until he found you, you gave him hope and the ability to dream again.
.To strive to be a better father, a better husband, and a better king.
.He would share you with Lilith 1000 percent. BUT ONLY LILITH
.He also will try and introduce you to Charlie as you will one day be her future step-parent.
.He is very nervous about this that is for sure.
.When he does confess to you he is beyond nervous and awkward.
.Because he is worried if it will go right or not.
.If you accept his feelings he takes you in his arms and flies into the air spinning around and kissing you.
.If you turn him down he feels his heart shatter, but he will ask if you are two are still good, but he is not giving up.
.He will try his best to "Mend" things and then slowly court you, so the next time he confesses to you, you say yes.
.He does this until he gets a yes.
.He is determined, and also a very protective yandere as well.
.He will face heaven to keep you by his side, so if somehow you got redeemed he would storm heaven and bring you back.
.He is not losing you, you belong to him and will be his future spouse, future co-parent, and future co-ruler.
.He will move heaven and hell for you, that is a fact!
[YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS another chapter is done! I hope you all enjoyed this and stay sexy, all of my sexy muffins!]

haunted house (dad!george x reader fluff)
more promptober! just a fun fic about you and the kids making plans for when george gets home. enjoy! <3
Tumblr media
the bell for the end of the day rings just as you make it through the school gates, wet autumn leaves on the ground and the wriggly three-year-old in your arms doing nothing but hindering an already-running-late you. panting slightly, you carefully set cara down and try to catch your breath, ruffling her hair as she clings to your leg.
you're not really sure why you rushed, to be honest; connor's the most laid-back five-year-old you've ever heard of, with a habit of swanning out of school a few minutes after most of his classmates have bolted out of the playground, and you know you would have been there waiting for him in plenty of time had you walked from the car instead of running. still, you don't want to chance it, you'd rather wait for your son than have it be the other way around.
and you do wait - seven minutes (and three games of hopscotch with your daughter) after the school day ends, connor finally deigns to leave the building, chatting away to dylan as they wander over to you. at the sight of her brother and for-all-intents-and-purposes cousin, cara speeds over to them to say hello; when the three of them walk closer to you, you can see the smug little grin on her face at getting to hang out with the “big kids”, even though there's barely two years between her and them.
you grin back at them, amused at the (classic daniel/healy) height difference between the two five-year-olds. “hi, munchkins. y'alright? took you a while to leave school today.”
“dyl couldn't find her water bottle, mum,” connor throws himself into a cuddle, which you reciprocate eagerly. “but i helped her.”
your goddaughter corroborates this, giving you a hug of her own in greeting. “yeah cos we have the same one and no-one else has it because they're from our dads’ work. but mine has an sticker that's pink,” she almost whacks you with said water bottle in her haste to show you the barbie sticker half-stuck over the 75 logo. “it was at the sink and not my seat.”
“oh, well, that's good you got it,” you pat her head. “did your dad tell you this morning that it would be me picking you up because mummy's not feeling well?”
“yeah. he said baby's making her tummy sore, so i'm going home in the car with you.”
“that's right,” you take cara's hand, heading out towards the almost-empty car park. “let's go to the car now, babies.”
“mum!” connor looks aghast. “we're not babies. i'm five.”
“i'm nearly six,” dylan says proudly. “when baby gets here i'll be six. and lena will be four. and you too, cara.”
your youngest looks at you, brow furrowed; you have to stop yourself giggling at how much she looks like george. “i'll be four?”
“yes, angel. you and lena won't be the tiny babies any more, will you? we'll all have an actual baby to look after.”
cara hums, too preoccupied to be excited about the thought of a new friend. “will i get a party when i'm four?”
“oh, i think so,” you unlock the car, scooping her up with a kiss to her cheek before settling her into her carseat. “you know what dad and matty are like. any excuse to celebrate! right, dyl, you get in there, darling, watch your step,” fastening her seatbelt, you shout across the girls to your son. “you alright, con?”
“mhmm!”
you check anyway - he's fine - before getting in yourself. “alright, munchkins, home time.”
what should only be a ten-minute drive to the healy house actually ends up being twenty-five because of traffic, but it's pleasant enough - the kids are good as gold, patiently playing i spy, softly giggling the whole time and warming your heart. you knew all along that your babies would be best friends with your best friends’, but seeing dylan - tiny for her age, shockingly tentative from birth - yap and laugh along with your two like this is a heartwarming (and only slightly terrifying) indication that the kids will genuinely end up being as close (read: codependent) as their fathers are.
their fathers, who are still at the studio working diligently, you learn when your friend waddles (there's no other word for it) out to the car to get dylan despite you yelling “stay there! i'll bring her up!” repeatedly when you reach her house. she rolls her eyes as she tells you, absentmindedly rubbing her baby bump, an air of vague exhaustion hanging around her. “according to matthew, they're working on until half 6 tonight, so they can take the weekend off and do final tweaks on monday, and that's them done,” she scoffs. “can you believe that?”
“of course not. george has been promising to be home at half 4 for the past three weeks,” you snort. “and as for final tweaks…”
“oh, another month, at least.”
“literally. that baby girl of yours might arrive before they send that final mix off.”
“don't, i'm actually nervous about that,” she giggles, cradling her stomach before pulling you into a hug. “i'd better go before elena tries to cut her own hair again. d'you want to do dinner next friday, us and the kids - and the boys, if they ever unchain themselves from that mixing desk?”
“i'll bring starters and dessert,” you kiss her cheek. “take it easy, alright?”
“yeah. hope you get to see your husband this weekend, babe!”
“you too!”
you really, really hope you do; after an hour in tesco, you and the kids get home well after george's originally-planned home time, and your heart sinks when you unlock the door to the lights still off and no sign of him, other than the half-drunk coffee he left this morning and a couple of cigarette butts in the kitchen ashtray. moments like these are sometimes harder than when he's actually away touring, you think - it's less upsetting missing george when there are oceans between you than it is when you're ships in the night in the same house.
still, you've got the kids to keep you distracted from being melancholy; it's impossible to be anything other than overjoyed when your sweet babies insist on group cuddles on the sofa while you watch another episode of balamory, or when the two of them run to get their stepstools so they can watch you make fajitas for dinner with genuine interest (well, connor more than cara), or during dinner itself, when connor collapses into contagious giggles at the sight of his little sister’s face covered in guacamole. but they miss their dad, too, despite all the happiness, as admitted by cara while she's clinging onto you in piggyback while you do the dishes. “when's daddy home?”
you sigh, doing your best to keep the sadness out of it. “m'not sure yet, angel. he'll phone when he's leaving his work, though.”
“‘kay,” she digs her little chin into your shoulder, only slightly uncomfortably for you. “will he read me a story?”
“i bet he will,” you put away the last plate, wiping your hands before swinging her round to hold her in front of you; once her laughter subsides, you speak again. “daddy loves reading stories to you and connor.”
cara nods. “and he hasn't done it in ages.”
well, four days, but to a three-year-old… that probably feels like an eternity. the thought brings a lump to your throat. “he will, though, soon, munchkin. daddy will be home soon, and he'll read you a bedtime story,” biting back a sniffle, you spot a parenting advantage. “that is, if you brush your teeth extra well once you put your pyjamas on. yeah?”
“yeah!”
ironically, coincidentally, whatever you want to call it, the omw home text from george flashes up on your watch during cara's bathtime, the last step in what her dad likes to call “the ‘pre-bedtime routine’ routine”. she squeals when you tell her, kicking her little legs with such enthusiasm that half the bathwater ends up over you, and her brother rushes into the room in a panic. “what's going on? why is cara screaming? is she ok?”
wriggling even as you lift her into a cosy towel, cara answers. “yeah! daddy's coming to read us a story!”
“oh!” your son's face lights up. “really, mummy?”
“yes, darling, he just sent a message,” you confirm. “d'you want to go and choose a book while i get cara into her pyjamas? and then we can wait for him together?”
“mhmm” connor moves to leave, but turns back in the doorway to look at the two of you. there's a familiar smile on his face, and you're not sure whether to be worried about whatever sneaky thing he's about to suggest or pissed off that both of your kids look nothing like you. “or…”
you brace yourself. “or what, con?”
“we don't wait and we hide and then jump out and surprise him.”
the laugh escapes your lips before you even realise. fuck it. “alright. let's do it…”
the cheers you get in response are deafening.
“... but,” you raise your eyebrows pointedly. “only if you pick a book for your bedtime story now, connor,” matching his nods, you turn to your youngest in her towel cocoon. “and you brush your teeth properly, like we agreed earlier.”
cara nods so excitedly that the towel falls off her head. connor laughs, and you can't help chuckling either. “okay, babies - don't get stroppy, con, you're gonna be my babies forever, alright? anyway,” you ruffle his hair. “we'll hide in the wardrobe in your room. d'you want to wait there for me and cara, munchkin?”
“yeah!” he darts off, and seconds later you hear him rifling through the little bookshelf in his bedroom. “i picked a book!”
“good boy!” you call, before turning back to your still-beaming girl. “will you be good, madam?”
she nods sweetly. and she really is - there isn't a peep of a complaint at all. not while you're drying and dressing her, not during teeth-brushing, not even when you've got her sat on the bathroom counter as you brush and braid her hair, which is usually something she prefers george doing “cos it's not sore when daddy does it”.
whatever. at least you still have hair.
hyper-aware of the fact that time is of the essence, you comb through cara's fringe once more, before scooping her up into your arms and kissing her little cheek. “what do we think, munchkin - d'you think you look good?”
“hmmm,” cara squints at her reflection, then grins. “yeah!”
“i think so too. shall we go and get connor and wait for daddy?”
a nod against your shoulder, and off you go on the short jaunt to your son's room. connor's already sitting in the massive built-in wardrobe, book in hand and an eager smile on his face. you smile in return, settling down beside him and pulling the cupboard door almost fully-closed; you're careful to leave a crack in front of you, so you'll be able to see your husband when he arrives. which, actually, should be imminently, so you'd better come up with a game plan. you tug your kids close to you. “so, when daddy gets here-”
“mum, why are you being quiet?” the confusion is evident on connor's sweet little face even in the minimal light. “dad isn't here yet.”
he's got a point. you blink. “true. anyway, like i was saying, when he does get here… wait for me to open the door, and then you can jump on daddy, yeah?”
“can we shout too?”
“i don't see why not. but no bad words, you - just because you've heard matty say them doesn't mean you can,” you point at connor, before turning to cara. “and no screaming from you, you hear me?”
“yes, mummy.”
“good,” your eyes widen at the sound of the front door opening, closely followed by george shouting a greeting as he dumps his bag, and your voice shifts to a whisper. “quiet, now, alright? let's see how long it takes daddy to find us.”
there's a whispered chorus of agreements, and then - miraculously - your kids go silent, aside from the quick little huffs of air signifying silent giggling; these get more frequent when you all hear george wandering around downstairs, calling your names in turn and humming to himself in bewilderment. when his footsteps become audible on the stairs, cara practically wraps herself around your arm, all but shaking with kinetic energy and clutching her brother's hand as they hear their father reach the landing.
you, too, are laughing to yourself as you listen to george opening and closing doors in search, monologuing as he goes. “nowhere to be seen and they've left every bloody light in the building on. s'like blackpool illuminations,” comes the gravel grumbling so characteristic to the love of your life, as he wanders into what you know is the bathroom; he sniffs loudly, and you have to clap a hand over your mouth to keep from cackling. “strawberry shampoo… cara's bedtime routine. maybe everyone's in,” another door opens. “here! oh. empty. must be in connor's room, then.”
three strides across the landing, and there he is - george, his tiredness obvious even through the tiny crack between wardrobe doors. he turns slowly, taking in the emptiness of the room (and making your heart glow when you catch a glimpse of his pretty face), and - as if by magic - stops with his back to the wardrobe, muttering “where are they?” to himself.
partially out of slight guilt for putting him through this, but mostly because you think connor and cara might explode if you make them wait any longer to surprise their dad, you push the wardrobe doors open. the kids fly out, little voices shouting “hi dad!” and “we're here!” as little bodies land on george's massive one; he gasps in shock, and you're extremely thankful for the victorian high ceilings in your house, because your husband's head (and the rest of him, probably) would absolutely have hit anything lower when he jumped in abject terror. he sinks to the floor, head in his hands. “jesus christ,” he sighs, before standing and tucking a kid under each arm, swinging them around and filling the room with laughter. “you meanies, surprising me like that. i thought you'd all run away and left me!”
“we would never,” you step forward, taking cara into your own arms and pecking george on the lips. “we like playing tricks on you too much.”
“yes, that one's obvious,” george rolls his eyes; his face breaks into a big smile, and he kisses your nose. “hi, by the way, angel. thanks for the interesting welcome home.”
“i wish i could take credit.”
“oh? it wasn't mummy?” george dramatically looks from kid to kid. “who's the evil genius among us, then?”
cara giggles, nuzzling her head into your neck. “connor.”
“reeeeeeeeally?” george cocks his head to look at his boy, who's grinning from ear to ear. “s'that right, munchkin? it was your idea?”
connor giggles. “yeah.”
“in that case, then,” george tickles your son through his t-shirt, smiling at the raucous giggles that follow - from cara, too, actually. “say sorry, and i'll stop.”
“sorry! sorrysorrysorry!” connor's laughs fade to little hums, and he snuggles into his dad while they both catch their breath. “mummy planned it though. tickle her!”
george winks at you. “oh, i will, later. but first,” he flicks your son on the nose. “bathtime? and then a bedtime story for the little ones?”
cara nods. “and then mummy and daddy bedtime?”
“once i've redone your hair, munchkin? i think so,” your husband smiles at you, eyes twinkling. “of sorts, at least. you up for that, sweetheart?”
“oh, absolutely.”

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: you and Pedro are hunting for your dream home before your third bundle of joy arrives.
Word Count: 1.7k
Content Warning: pregnancy, mentions of blood, bodily fluids, birth (not detailed.)
Note: I’m sorry this is short I’m sick and my brain hurts lol. Anyways I hope you love this, thank you so much for requesting!!
The grunt that leaves your lips as you roll around on the bed is involuntary, trying to escape the warmth urgently as your baby sits on your bladder, putting more pressure for you to get to the toilet. You ignore the pains in your body as you stand, waddling to the toilet just in time to not lose your bladder on the bathroom tiles.
You thoroughly wash your hands and wipe them on your fleecy pyjamas. A delicious smell wafts from down the hall, your mouth watering with saliva as your stomach grumbles with want. Your steps are heavy as you tread down the hallway, your body slightly rocking side to side as you waddle, your heavily pregnant stomach taking its toll on every inch of your body. Your eldest daughter Maria comes running toward you first, “morning mama, dads making us breakfast. Your favourite too.” You play with her hair as she hugs you, pushing a strand of dark brown hair behind her ear. “Oh did he? Isn’t that sweet.” She rushes to her spot at the table, screeching her chair as she waits patiently for her food. Your second daughter, Andie stays seated, you press a kiss to the top of her head as she swings her legs under the table as she groans in frustration, tired of waiting for her food. “Good morning baby.” She huffs, finally looking at you as Pedro comes over with plates full of food for the girls. “Hi mama.” Pedro serves the girls their food, not wanting to keeping them waiting a minute longer. He sets the rest of the food down for the two of you, stalking towards you with a grin on his face. “What’s got you in a good mood this morning?” You question with mock suspicion. “Can’t I just be happy to see my beautiful wife?” Your cheeks heat at his comment, rolling your eyes as you lean into him. “I’ll never get tired of hearing you say that.” He pulls away from the hug, pulling your designated seat away from the table so you can sit. As he sits you fill your plate of your favourite breakfast foods and some fresh fruit. “I do have good news to share baby, you got me.” He throws his hands up and you smile, watching him In encouragement to continue, “I think we’ve found a house. We can go and look today if you’re up for it. Make sure it’s everything you’ve dreamed of.” Your tears start filling with tears, hormones flowing through your body like a tidal wave. “Baby that’s incredible.” His grin widens, “the appointment is for 10:30 this morning. Once the girls are done eating I’ll get them ready, you sit and enjoy your breakfast.”
After 10 long minutes of ruffling through your wardrobe you finally find an outfit that you like, it accentuates your bump beautifully, matching your skin tone. You slip on a pair of vans, not bothering to be too formal today, thinking more about your comfort.
“You look incredible, do you know what?” You giggle and hide your face in your hands, after 10 years of being with Pedro he still had a way of making you feel like a teenager with a crush, “you only tell me a hundred times a day.” Pedro huffs shaking his head, “that’s not enough, make sure to scold me next time.” He jests. “The girls are strapped into the car, you ready to go?” You pat your pockets, phone, wallet, keys. “Good to go.” You confirm.
You try not to laugh as you see the girls dressed in mixed matched clothing, Pedro was never one for caring about kids dressing in super expensive clothing, nor did he care how they dress, he let them dress themselves most days unless it was ridiculously outrageous. Pedro opens the passenger door to his Audi for you, letting you hold his hand as you lower yourself into the leather seat. He presses a kiss to your hand before he shuts the door.
You had seen the house online, no price listed which you would assume means one thing; it’s expensive. The neighbourhood was filled with extravagant houses and perfectly mowed front yards, some with picket fences and gardens full of colourful flourishing flowers. The house had a sign out the front “for sale” in bold orange letters. It took your breath away momentarily, “holy shit.” Pedro only smiled as you watch in awe as he helps the girls out of their seats, opening the doors for them. “Wait here while I help mama out of the car, okay? Stay here.” The girls agreed in a unison of, “okay papa.” Pedro helps you out of the car, holding his hand above your head to make sure you don’t bump it on the door frame. A grunt leaves your lips as you stretch your spine, cracking in a few places before it settles again, earning a big kick from your baby.
“What a beautiful family we have here! You must be,” she checks her notepad for appointments, “Mr Pascal. Pleasure to meet you, I’m Donna.” Pedro nods his head, “this is my wife and our two daughters, Maria and Andie.” The middle age lady greets your daughters kindly, “hi Donna.” Your daughters greet, the ladies short blonde hair rested on the shoulder of her suit jacket. “Hi girls. Why don’t we get started and go inside and I can show you around!” “Perfect!” You cheer. As you walk through the front door you’re in the kitchen, the white granite bench accentuates the kitchen countertop. The kitchen was modern, stylish lights hanging from the ceiling illuminating a bright yellow light. “This kitchen was renovated by the last owners, first of many bonuses that come with the house!” You look around in awe, trying to take in the minute details and imagining yourself cooking meals for Pedro and the kids in this kitchen, smiling to yourself at the thought. “Now just around the corner we have the living room, a spacious area for your beautiful family! A fireplace was also added by previous owners, the perfect addition for the upcoming winter!” The lounge room was fully furnished, the room accentuated with light grey and whites. An artwork catches your eye on the wall, a familiar work “CENTREFOLD” by Kathryn Macnaughton. “The last owner had good taste in art.” Donna laughs, “the last owner painted this artwork.” You turn to her as your mouth gapes open, “wow, that’s incredible.”
The bedrooms are spacious, enough for the girls to have their own and baby when they get old enough. The mast bedroom is huge, the California King Bed sits proudly on its black bedframe, the room furnished and you wonder if it comes with the house. “Does the house come furnished?” Donna smiles widely as she shows you the ensuite bathroom. “It does come fully furnished! You can always discard of or replace the furniture if it’s not to your liking.” You and Pedro share a look “no, it’s perfect, you insist, inspecting the shower, already imagining you and Pedro showering your newborn together.
“Why don’t you go and show the girls the garden out back sweetheart?” The girls cheered at Pedro’s suggestion, “sure,” you gestured the girls out the back, “let’s go and have a look at the pretty flowers outside. See if we can find any butterflies.” The two girls take one hand each and drag you out the door which makes Pedro laugh. It’s beautiful outside, it’s cooling down through the day in transition for winter. The flowers are big and bold, full of nectar which attracts bumblebees and butterflies.
“Look mama a big butterfly!” Your eyes follow Andie’s finger, eyes finding the blue Monarch butterfly that lands on a yellow flower, sucking the nectar and fluttering away all in a matter of seconds. “Look he’s got friends!” Maria yells, running to chase the butterflies that wonder over the fence. “Aw they’re gone.” Maria sighs with disappointment in her voice, “it’s okay baby. We’ll see lots of butterflies if daddy wants this house.” Your hand rests on her head, running your fingers down her dark locks. “Are we going to live her mama?” You shrug, “it’s not up to me baby.”
“Actually, it’s entirely up to you. How do you like it?” Pedro’s voice makes you turn around, a small smile on your face as you see his red cheeks. “I love it baby. It just looks.. expensive.” Pedro frowns, the wrinkles in his face are deepening at his expression. His hand rests on your pregnant stomach, “this is for us, our family. If you want is, it’s ours.” You wipe the tears that collect on your lash line with a laugh, “making me emotional Pedrito. Yes I would love it here, the girls are having so much fun.” The sound of the girls laughter fills the air, the birds singing their songs accompany them. “I was hoping you would say that, because I already bought the house.” Pedro admits sheepishly. You wrap your arms around his neck, your bulging stomach creating a space between you, stopping you from being completely into him. “It’s perfect Pedro, I can’t wait for our baby to be here with us.” He kisses your lips sweetly, “I can’t wait for him to be here either.” You raise your eyebrows, “him?” He shrugs casually, “just got a feeling.”
“It’s a boy!” The midwife declares. Tears are falling down your cheeks as sobs fall through your lips, the small infant is placed on your chest, a beanie on his head and skin still coated in blood and fluid. His loud wailing cries settle as you wrap your arms around him, kissing him on the head. “You’re so perfect.” Pedro is kissing the skin of your sweaty shoulders as the midwife’s clean you up. “Oscar Jose Pascal. Welcome to the world.” Pedro is crying and you wrap him in a blanket, “do you want to hold him?” Pedro’s eyes are red from crying, “please, baby, please.” Pedro was shaking, you sit him down on the chair besides the bed, “take your shirt off, he needs skin to skin contact.” Pedro follows your instruction, holding his son to his chest, learning his head into Oscar’s. “God he’s so perfect. You did incredible baby, I’m so proud of you.” You place your hand on his thigh, rubbing it lovingly, “I can’t wait to get him home. The girls are gonna love him.” Pedro only hums in agreement as he intently listens to his soon coo at his touch. Your family was complete.

Hermione stands over you as you hold out the thick strand of hair, pinched in between your fingers.
Harry and Ron stare at it with bated breaths, the air in between the four of you is still; anticipating.
You didn't have to consider for too long to know it belonged to your mother. You had nearly mistaken it for your own, if it weren't for the grayish undertones, only fully visible when illuminated.
It seems every time you saw your mother, her hair would be a shade lighter. As time did its duty, as the years passed, the older each of you got, the less you resembled the other.
You don't see your mother when you look in the mirror, not anymore.
"Are you sure that's hers?" Ron asks as you rise from your crouching position.
The painful lump in your throat prevents you from answering him.
You swallow thickly.
"I'm sure." You finally say.
Silence once again, as Ron reaches out to carefully pick out the strand, retrieving it from your grip, he drops it into the flask he held in his other hand with even more precision.
The only noise that fills the air is a faint sizzle, as the polyjuice potion consumes its final ingredient.
You feel Hermione move to your side, her fingers curl around your bicep, her other hand firmly intertwines with yours.
"Are you certain we'll be allowed into Bellatrix's vault?" Harry asks, he looks at you expectantly and you grace him with an assured nod.
"I've seen my mother retrieve things for her dozens of times, it'll work." You claim, but Harry's immediate skepticism doesn't evade you, and honestly, you can't hold it against him.
Your plan is far from foolproof. Like many times before the four of you are simply hoping to get by on pure chance and luck.
"How do we know what it is, when we get in her vault? I mean, a Horcrux could be anything." Ron asks, a question you were all wondering.
"I'll know." Harry quips plainly.
You glance at Hermione to shoot her a look before returning your attention back to Harry.
"It's hard to explain but– I'll just know." He adds, and none of you wish to push on the subject further.
════════════════════════════════════════════
You watched as Hermione lifted the flask filled with polyjuice to her lips, but then she pauses. Her shoulders rise as she takes a deep breath, as if preparing herself.
"Wait–" You interject, rising from the bed, in three large strides you are standing before your girlfriend.
"Let me drink it." You then place a hand over Hermione's, but she pries it off lightly.
"No, I'll do it." She counters, and you don't attempt to mask your disapproval.
"You can't drink it." Hermione reiterates.
"When we get to Gringotts, it'll appear more believable with you by my side, you know it." She adds, and you hate that Hermione is right.
You sigh.
"Darling, it's too dangerous." You breath out, your hand travels up her forearm, eventually tenderly cupping her face.
Hermione instinctively shuts her eyes at the sensation, she leans into your touch, her muscles no longer tense, her body visibly reacts to your warmth.
"We're all in danger." She finally claims, once your eyes meet again.
"This is the only way. There's another Horcrux hidden in her vault, we just have to find it." Hermione states assuredly but it does nothing to convince you of the plan.
You remain staring at your girlfriend, Hermione always had a way of making your heart feel like it could just implode within your chest.
You are overcome with love, care, and longing, all of these feelings encapsulated in the sheer dread of what's to come, of what might happen.
Hermione finds no trouble in returning your gaze.
This wordless exchange lasts for several seconds until Hermione decides to take advantage of your unmoving state. She leans in, passionately capturing your lips with her own.
Your hands quickly shift to rest on her waist, you then feel Hermione's hand move to the back of your head, pulling you closer.
You are taken aback as she opens her mouth wider, deepening the kiss, soon enough her tongue makes contact with your own.
You have no air left in your lungs, but the last thing you wish to do is pull away.
Hermione lets out a light hum as she presses her body up against yours; her eagerness causes your entire body to tremble, you worry your legs might give out at any moment.
The kiss ends as abruptly as it began.
A sharp gasp leaves Hermione's lips as she takes a step back, as if it proved a real struggle for her to cease the kiss.
Soon a sense of euphoria overcomes your entire being, even if it is fleeting, you feel at peace and it translates into a boyish grin across your face.
Hermione notices, and she has to bite her bottom lip to hide a smile herself.
She places a lingering hand over your chest before shoving you away playfully.
"Go on, wait outside. I'll meet you there." Hermione orders, and you know better than to protest.
════════════════════════════════════════════
You continued to pace back and forth, the usually maddening feeling of sand repeatedly filling your shoes does nothing to distract you.
Trepidation rapidly materializes within you the longer you waited for your girlfriend.
By taking the Polyjuice and assuming your mother's identity, Hermione is putting herself in immense danger, and you are expected to stand by and simply witness it, again.
"It'll be fine." You hear Harry's voice, but you don't acknowledge him.
You can't feel anything beyond the incessant pounding in your head; you possessed barely any strength at all, you mustered just enough to stomach this.
Soon enough, Hermione emerges from the hut and the sight you are met with is unsettling.
The woman standing before you appears to resemble your mother. Wearing the clothes your mother would wear, there was no trace of Hermione, beyond her voice.
Harry and Ron fail to speak alongside your silence. Hermione looks between the three of you impatiently.
"So, how do I look?" She asks, and you can't help but grimace.
"Disturbing." You quip.
Then you had no choice but to look away.
"Come on, let's just get this over with." You release an exasperated breath and Harry emerges next to you with Griphook.
"Griphook you give that to Hermione to hold onto, alright?" The man states, but it mainly sounded like a warning.
The Goblin lets out a subtle gripe as he hesitates, before eventually sheathing the steel into your girlfriend's bag.
"You get us into Bellatrix's vault, and the sword is yours." Harry reassures.
Ron finally takes out his wand so he may alter his own appearance, with a single wave, his hair is inches longer. The beard that appears on his face ages him, and makes him nearly unrecognizable.
"Now remember the plan, I'll be under the cloak with Griphook. Y/n and Hermione you'll try to convince the Goblin to let you through. Ron, you stand back in case anything happens." Harry runs through the plan once more and this time you don't suppress a scoff.
Hermione grabs your arm, wordlessly asking for you to stand down.
"This is a terrible plan." You say it anyway, and Harry doesn't retaliate, instead he nods in agreement.
"I know. But it's still the best one we've got."
════════════════════════════════════════════
You had to remind yourself to breathe as you walked through the doors of Gringotts.
Although certain the anxiety you are feeling at this moment is incomparable to the terror Hermione must be experiencing.
You had to battle every instinct urging you to reach out and hold your girlfriend's hand.
Ron trails closely behind the two of you, Harry and Griphook somewhere close by, hidden by the cloak of invisibility.
You brace yourselves once you get to the podium, a moment passes, but the Goblin on duty fails to acknowledge your presence entirely.
Hermione takes it upon herself to clear her throat.
Still, nothing.
She glances at you for help, and you nod, urging her to speak.
"I wish to enter." Your girlfriend states curtly, her best attempt to appear menacing.
In any other instance you would find it a little humorous, but right now, Hermione's poor imitation only makes you wince.
The Goblin fails to acknowledge either of you still, your patience rapidly thinning out.
"My mother has been sent to clear out Madam Lestrange's vault. I am certain you understand why you mustn't delay us." You say and the creature finally looks up.
His entire demeanor shifts, but it only helped to annoy you further.
"Madam, forgive me I did not realize it was you." Bogrod says, feigned cordiality.
"Of course you may enter.. but first, do you mind presenting your wand?" He adds and there is a pause.
You can sense Hermione's panic, but she tries her best to maintain a composed front.
She folds her arms over her chest.
"I hardly think that's necessary." Hermione states.
"I'm afraid I must insist." The Goblin's grin falters, and you realized you had to quickly step in
"Why?" You say, instinctively stepping forward, partially shielding Hermione with your body.
"New policy, I'm afraid." Bogrod explains, but before you can argue your case, the creature's expression shifts.
Your eyes catch the waft of green smoke seeping into the Goblin's nostrils.
You manage a quick glimpse of what looked like the tip of a wand being retracted, it disappears seemingly into thin air.
Y/n quickly realizes that Harry has sensibly, stepped in before things got ugly.
In an instant, the Goblin changes his tune.
"Very well, Madam, if you will follow me." He says with a dopey smile.
You hear Hermione let out a sigh of relief, you can't help but do the same.
════════════════════════════════════════════
The ride through the dungeons was nothing close to pleasant. The cart transporting you zoomed at an unfathomable speed, the abrupt turns and twists would have made you nauseous, if you weren't feeling sick already.
Hermione continues clutching your hand in hers, tighter than usual, your grip is similar in turn.
Finally, the cart halts, and before you know it, the six of you are free falling dozens of feet.
You reach for your wand in your pocket but Hermione beats you to it.
"Arresto Momentum!" She exclaims, and your bodies hang mid air, inches from the ground. Soon the spell wears off, the six of you fall onto the cold, wet, stone, front first.
"Thank you, Hermione." Harry says, as he helps himself off the ground.
You quickly do the same, rushing over to help your girlfriend up.
Hermione gladly takes your hand, when your eyes meet, you notice her appearance, she is back to her usual self.
The Polyjuice potion had entirely worn off but Bogrod, still under the Imperius curse, is unable to do anything about it.
"Come on, this way." Griphook shouts, he leads the four of you to the vaults.
He navigates the dark cavern with ease, as you try to get your eyes to adjust, a piercing screech fills the air, and it causes both you and Hermione to glance at each other.
You warily follow Griphooks lead, but the sight you're met with when the six of you turn the corner makes your breath catch in your throat.
"That's a Ukrainian Ironbelly–" Ron points out, awe and disbelief you shared.
Then Griphook picks up an object you quickly deduced to be a certain type of bell. As he shakes it, the dragon's screeching intensifies, it flails around as if trying to escape the noise.
It was only then you noticed the thick metal chains around its neck and legs.
"It's been trained to expect pain when it hears this sound." The creature claims and Hermione releases you so she may step forward, following his lead.
She speaks once she is in earshot of the Goblin.
"That's barbaric." Your girlfriend says, a certain tenor to her voice, you knew her well enough to recognize that she was truly indignant.
The dragon's screeching continues as the four of you slip past it.
It only retreats to cowers silently in the corner once the noises from the bell stops.
The vault is now in sight, as the group approaches you can't help but notice that Bogrod has disappeared.
You glance out at where you spotted the Goblin last and sure enough. He was standing in front of the dragon, simply staring at it; the curse has evidently impaired his judgment and all sense of danger.
"Wait– what do we do with him?" You gesture to Bogrod.
Although before anyone can respond, the Ukrainian Ironbelly takes a large step forward, then from its mouth, comes flames, big and blistering enough to turn the entire space scorching hot in an instant.
The once Goblin was now burnt to nothing but ash.
Hermione, Y/n and the boys only manage to stare in utter shock.
"That's unfortunate." Ron finally quips.
"Come on, we don't have much time." Griphook warns, he advances forward and the four of you follow.
As you arrive at the vault, it appears familiar to you, but only distantly.
It was not the vault Snape led you to a few months ago but it appears almost identical.
"Is this where you got the sword?" Hermione asks in a hushed tone, and you quickly shake your head.
"No, the key Snape gave me led to a different vault." You explain, but your girlfriend doesn't say anything, expecting your response.
As the five of you enter Bellatrix's vault, it is worse than you expected.
It is filled with random trinkets, some valuable, some not.
The three of you sport a defeated expression, but Harry was not going to give up so easily.
He steps forward.
"It's in here, I can sense it." He states.
You observe silently as The Chosen One approaches a particular cup, amidst an array of objects that look nearly identical to it.
Soon enough he reaches for it.
Harry holds out the cup, nothing is said, but there is an energy that reverberates through the air.
It's unmistakable. He has a Horcrux in hand.
"Pass me the sword." He extends his arm and Hermione scrambles through her bag, eventually retrieving the steel.
She passes it to Harry, he grips the pommel, but doesn't get the chance to do much else as a noise captures your attention.
Ron knocks over a goblet by accident, instead of breaking as it touches the ground, it only multiplies.
As the duplicate makes contact with another object it does the same thing. Soon objects are spawning at a rapid rate, filling up the already limited vacant space by your feet.
"What's happening?" Hermione exclaims over the loud noise, you instinctively step to her side as she nearly loses her balance.
"It's an enchantment, everything you touch will multiply." The Goblin explains, you aren't given much chance to come up with an escape plan as the objects quickly engulf all five of you.
For what felt like eternity, you fought to keep your head above.
You spot Hermione and Ron doing the same, but you can't see Harry anymore.
Amidst the chaos, somehow, Griphook gets a hold of the Horcrux.
Then, Harry finally emerges from the sea of gold and silver. He frantically looks around, in search of the object, but his attention shifts to the Goblin as he proudly holds up the Horcrux.
"We had a deal, Griphook!" Harry bellows, and the creature only grins, malicious, irritating.
"The cup for the sword!" He strikes up the bargain, and you curse under your breath.
It is getting increasingly difficult to stay afloat, and you watched as Hermione and Ron struggled the same.
Harry begrudgingly hands over the sword, the Goblin then returns the Horcrux back to him.
"I said I'd get you in, I never said anything about getting you out." Griphook quips, he holds his hand up against the door, unlocking it.
Soon the objects begin spilling out of the vault after him but the four of you continue to struggle to make your way to the exit.
If only you could retrieve your wand, you could stop the Goblin from going any further.
"Hermione, can you reach your wand?" You shout, and the struggle in your girlfriend's face is evident.
"I'm trying!" She replies.
After moments of struggle, the four of you miraculously manage to make your way out, but it was too late.
The Goblin is nowhere to be seen.
"Griphook!" Harry calls out in anger, he doesn't expect a reply, and he doesn't receive one.
His voice echoes through the dungeons, and it only works to disturb the dragon ahead.
It lets out another deafening screech.
You approach slowly, in search of the object that you know will subdue the beast, but you can't find it anywhere and you know for certain Griphook is the reason for it.
"The bell- it's gone." You don't try to conceal your distress.
"That foul creature– how are we supposed to get out of here?" Ron curses and you begin looking around for some type of solution, an idea to come to you.
You take an experimental step forward; careful, quiet.
You consider that perhaps, if you moved slowly, the dragon won't react.
However, your theory was quickly proven incorrect as the beast storms towards you within the confines of its chains, soon opening its mouth.
You were only inches away from getting charred alive before Hermione harshly grabbed your arm, yanking you to her side.
The pins you up against the pillar, out of the dragon's sight.
Ron and Harry stood a few paces away, their backs also against the wall.
"What on earth was your plan there?" Hermione hisses, and you are staggered for a moment.
You've never seen her so furious with you.
"I just thought if I moved quietly–" You start, but then another loud noise pierces the atmosphere.
Clearly, your stunt only exacerbated the dragon's already agitated state.
The sounds that follow suggest that the formidable beast was now fighting to be released from its restraints.
"Don't you ever try something like that again–" Hermione warns, her hand still gripping your collar.
You nod apologetically, suddenly you almost feel like a child being reprimanded.
Your girlfriend finally loosens her grip on your shirt.
The beast's actions begin to get larger and louder, in its outrage it clamours at the stone walls, chipping large pieces off.
"What a joke– did we go through all of that just to die in here?" Ron quips.
"We can't apparate.." Your girlfriend mumbles to herself, mentally debating an escape plan.
"Hermione?" Harry asks, it sounds closer to a desperate plea.
You were all stumped, only hoping that the mostly brilliant mind out of the four of you will manage to think of a plan to escape.
Hermione finally looks up at you, and by the look on her face you can tell whatever it might be; she's figured something out.
"I've got an idea, but it's mad." She admits, with a raised voice and truth be told you hated the sound of that.
Harry and Ron stare at her expectantly and you only grow more nervous by the second.
Hermione turns to y/n, you don't speak a word to her but it is not required as she already senses your anxiety, she places a firm hand on your chest right above your heart, you were certain she can feel it pounding against her palm.
"Just trust me." She reassures, too swiftly for your liking, as she completes her sentence she retreats.
You can only anticipate her next move, and it is not one you'd ever expect, in fact it nearly sends you into an early grave.
You watched as Hermione leaped off the balcony, landing on the dragon's back.
"Hermione!" You exclaim.
She struggles to get a grip of the beast for a moment, you are stunned when the dragon stills, it doesn't try to force Hermione off it's back.
"Come on!" Your girlfriend shouts, and you were first to mirror her earlier action. With a single large leap you manage to grab onto the dragon's horns, you pull yourself up, situating yourself behind Hermione.
The dragon reacts the same, but it is too fixated on the chains wrapped around its neck to care.
Soon enough Harry and Ron manage to climb on as well.
There is a point of eery stillness as the dragon seemingly appears too tired to continue fighting.
"Now what?" Harry poses a good question, and you take it upon yourself to fish out your wand.
"Relashio!" In one swift move, you fling the spell, aiming for the dragon's tail.
The beast reacts violently, in the process, the spell breaks the chains tethering it to the ground, finally freeing the beast from its restraints.
"Defodio!" Your girlfriend exclaims as she holds out her own wand, and soon enough, the dragon takes flight, bursting through the ceiling.
In an instant, Gringotts Bank is reduced to fragments of wood, glass and stone as the dragon flees the building, taking the four of you with it.
════════════════════════════════════════════
You have been on dragonback for what felt like hours, however an uncanny feeling of serenity, fills you as the beast flew through the air, past villages and hillsides.
As you approach the vast water, the dragon begins to fly lower; it appears the beast aims to halt its tiresome journey through the city soon.
"We're dropping!" Harry exclaims, panic begins to set in amongst the four of you once again.
"I say we jump!" Ron suggests, but you aren't particularly fond of the idea.
"What?" You bark.
"When?" Hermione chimes in.
"Now!" Harry responds as he lets go, you watched as he falls into the freezing water below.
He is quickly followed by Ron and Hermione, and you let out a groan as you release your grip on the dragon.
"Damn you, Weasley!" You exclaim as you freefall into the lake.
As your body touches the water, it immediately feels like hundreds of blistering hot knives are incessantly puncturing your skin.
It is almost unbearable, but then your head rises to the surface and pure instinct kicks in. The four of you, with some difficulty, eventually manage to swim to shore.
-
Hermione grabs your hand to help you up, in your weakened state you barely manage to climb the cliff.
Harry storms ahead, seemingly unaffected, no doubt driven by pure adrenaline.
"He knows." He blurts out.
"You know who." Harry explains, and Hermione lets go of your hand to catch up to the dark haired man.
"He knows we broke into Gringotts, he knows what we took, and he knows we're hunting Horcruxes." He admits.
"How is it you know?" You ask, jogging slightly to catch up, Ron following closely behind.
"You let him in?" Hermione asks, her tone dissaproving.
"Harry you can't do that–" She says but her bestfriend interrupts.
"Hermione, I can't always help it! Or maybe I can, I don't know." He retaliates.
"Never mind that, what happened?" You interject.
The four of you halt as you get to the top of the cliff.
"Well, he's angry– and scared too." Harry starts, he holds out his hands as Hermione retrieves her bottle of Essence Of Dittany from her bag.
She places a few drops on his palms, doing the same on yours, and then Ron's.
You rub your hands together as Harry continues speaking.
"He knows if we can find and destroy all the Horcruxes, we'll be able to kill him. I reckon he'll do anything to stop that happening." Harry finishes and you scowl at the thought.
Soon, the boys begin stripping so they may change into dry clothes.
Hermione instead retrieves a large blanket from her bag, she drapes it over you, before pulling you close to her body so she may share your warmth.
"There's more– one of them's at Hogwarts." Harry explains.
"What?" Ron says in disbelief and his friend only nods.
"You saw it?" Your girlfriend asks, skeptical.
Harry nods again.
"I saw the castle, and Rowena Ravenclaw. It must have something to do with her, we have to go there now." The Chosen One states, assuredly.
"What? We can't do that, we've got to plan, we've got to figure it out." Hermione counters.
"Hermione when have any of our plans ever actually worked?" Harry recounts, his gaze shifting between y/n, Hermione and Ron.
"We plan, we go there, all hell breaks lose." The dark haired man states, and neither of you have an argument, he was stating the plain truth.
"He's right– just one problem." Ron starts.
"Snape's headmaster now, we can't just walk through the front door."
Then there's a pause.
You can feel Hermione shivering against you, you swiftly wrap an arm around her, an attempt to keep her as close as possible.
"Well, then we'll go to Hogsmeade. To Honeydukes– take the secret passage." Harry offers a solution, and you nod in agreement.
"I think– there's something wrong with him–" He adds, and the three of you wait for Harry to explain.
"In the past, I've always been able to follow his thoughts– now everything just sort of feels disconnected." The dark haired man says, he adjusts the glasses on his face.
"Maybe it's the Horcruxes? Maybe he's growing weaker, maybe he's dying?" Ron suggests but Harry was quick to shake his head.
"No, it's more like he's wounded. If anything he feels more dangerous." Harry states plainly, and now you are shivering for an entirely different reason.
Hermione glances at you, as you exhange a look, you can't help but acknowledge that all too familiar sense of impotence as it looms over all of you.
The uncertainty and impending doom; it feels as though the more Horcruxes you uncover, the more uncertain the end seems.

“Hello, love.” Caroline could do a lot of things: turn away, get her chocolate anyway, say anything— Instead, standing there with her shopping list on her hand and only a gallon of laundry detergent in her cart, the only thing that comes out of her mouth happens to be … “What are you doing here?” One of his eyebrows ticks up. He turns his head towards the chocolates in his arms, then back to her, and the expression on his face communicates something like, isn’t it obvious? “Shopping,” he says. “I’d have thought,” says she, “that you had people to do your grocery shopping for you. Nice little hybrid minions on leashes?” He doesn’t rise to the bait, though the flash of gold in his eyes—just there for a fraction of a moment—shows her that he notices it. “We ran out of chocolate,” he says instead. “Rebekah’s doing, I suspect. She’s been watching sad romance films and moping over that quarterback of yours.” “So you … went to get more. Yourself.” He shrugs. “I had nothing better to do.”

Occasionally, the lavish old manor at the edge of Mystic Falls will come alive. It’s far less dramatic than it sounds: it’s Liz’s family dropping in for a visit. To be entirely fair, they are dramatic about it, but then again, they’re dramatic about everything. Sometimes she wonders if that’s a thing that comes with age, or is vampire blood working through one’s system and altering it enough.

“Well …” says Caroline somewhat delicately, “if you can’t even talk to me, I don’t think I can trust you in my city with vervain and a stake and God knows what else. You did just try to kill a vampire.” “Your city.” “You understand, of course. I have people to protect. If someone who wasn’t my step-sister tried to pull a stake on me, they’d be dead already. Dad loved you, that’s why I’m letting you and your wife leave in peace.” She shrugs. “I mean, I would like to talk to you. It’s been a very long time. Seeing you is like a slap from the past. But I’m not gonna make you. You can go.”

Let’s hear it, then: would you willingly move to Mystic Falls? I mean … no. *laughs* But! But I do think I’d like to visit one day. To see, like, all the places we talked about. But I’d also, like, probably be ready to bolt it at a moment’s notice, as soon as I see anything even mildly suspicious. Wouldn’t want to end up being stabbed repeatedly? No, I don’t think anyone would be interested in that, to be honest. You don’t know what people’s kinks are.

She’s known of vampires since a few days after her wedding. She’s known they were truly real and returned since an evening in 2009, she’s known her daughter was one since a terrible day a couple of months later. The agelessness is still strange to swallow. Sometimes she doesn’t notice it at all, and sometimes it grips her heart and screams into her face. Stefan Salvatore was just a boy when she saw him first, a scion of a Founding Family, future Council member. Then he wasn’t. Klaus was a face she saw in the street once or twice and paid no attention to until the day he came to her door, unbearably smug, eyes dancing with cruelty.

But Stefan’s not looking at her—he’s looking at Klaus, whose eyes are gleaming gold. “Well,” he drawls, cutting off Lexi’s tirade. “Stefan and I really must be off. Lots to do, after all.” “Yeah, no one is leaving until I get an explanation that makes sense,” she growls. “And until then, I’m not letting Stefan go anywhere with you.” “I’m amazed you think you have a choice in the matter, sweetheart. Regardless, we’ll be off now. Stefan!” To heel goes unspoken. Stefan grits his teeth together. For Elena. This is all for Elena. For Damon. “Fine,” Lexi exclaims, and then she’s pushing past. “Then I think I’ll be hanging around for the foreseeable time, if you don’t mind, Mister Klaus.”

“In the spirit of honesty,” Lord Stefan says brightly, “I can tell you about how I broke my arm as a boy falling off a tree because Nik—” He pats the prince’s shoulder, and his eyebrow curves, “—said I couldn’t. And to make matters worse, I cut my hand open on a rock. The scar is still here.” He shows them his palm, where there’s indeed a faint white line running across it. “You speak as if you were at the brink of death,” the prince drawls at that, observing them all lazily with hooded eyes. “If you had listened to me, you wouldn’t have been injured.” “I know that.” Lord Stefan huffs out a laugh. “But we were just boys, and you certainly didn’t sound like you were concerned for my wellbeing when you told me I couldn’t do it.” “Oh, that’s a given,” Caroline says, waving a hand. “Lena, do you remember when I nearly drowned because you told me that that starfish was too deep down to bring out?” “It was,” Elena groans. “Caroline, it’s not funny, I’d never been so frightened in my life. I thought I’d killed you.” “You didn’t,” she shrugs. “And I got you the starfish, so …” Elena shakes her head. “Caroline will have you believe I’m some sort of fiend, my lord, but it’s her who was the instigator of nearly all of our childhood adventures.” Caroline grins. “You say that like it’s a bad thing. I would beg to differ.”

The look in Cindy’s eyes is fierce in a way that Caroline hadn’t imagined her capable of. Some colour has returned to her cheeks—she seems to seethe with rage now that her fear had subsided some. “How did our father die, Caroline?” “Due to his own stubbornness, mostly,” says she.

Elijah eyes the car. “Where’s the stake?” Stake? “The glove compartment,” Kol replies distractedly. Klaus pauses. “You put the stake that can kill us into the bloody glove compartment?”

𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓— f!reader x captain rex. 2.7k. ao3.
you and rex have both been through a divorce... just not with each other. your youngest daughter and his youngest son are best friends. he coaches their little league team. you have a conversation at the beach house you're at. (also, it's 2003). pls enjoy!!! this au has given me such brain rot. it's fun
Tumblr media
It feels almost surreal, sitting on the couch with your knees tucked up under you and a glass of wine in your hands, being involved in a light conversation with other adults that isn’t small talk. You listen happily, interjecting every once in a while. The beach house is a nice one, with plenty of rooms to sleep in. You’d been invited at the end of a night on the town with Rex, where he’d driven you home because you weren’t allowed to drive when they went out, always claiming that parking was a mess. And while you had only been invited because Rex’s eldest was spending the summer at an internship, he’d been earnest about wanting you there.
They aren’t quite your friends, not yet. Though you hear your mother’s voice telling you that they wouldn’t have invited you if they didn’t consider you a friend. And anyways, you know Echo from your youngest’s baseball practice. You know the rest of them from those nights on the town, from those barbecues Rex has.
Rex is saying something, and you turn your gaze to the other end of the couch to listen. These are Rex’s friends, but the two of you are the only unmarried ones, the only single ones, and it’s regulated you both to the same couch again.
Not that you mind.
Rex laughs, eyes crinkling on the sides and thumb smoothing over the edge of the throw pillow in his lap. Then Fives interjects, and you like Fives, you like the way he raises his daughters and his wife is kind yet also shouldered with the same burden you carry of being the not-fun parent. You hate the fact his grown out hair mimics the floppy nature of your ex husband’s.
Speak of the devil. Your phone rings, jostling you out of your thoughts. Reaching forwards, you check the caller ID.
Your ex-husband’s name flashes across the screen. Your heart drops in your chest as you do the math. 10am in Tokyo.
“I have to take this, sorry,” you say, leaving your wine glass on the coffee table and standing. Every horrible situation flashes through your mind. Something has happened to one of your daughters, they’ve gotten lost in the city, they’re sick, they’ve broken a bone.
You answer the phone with a worried, “Hello?” as you open the sliding door and step outside into the cool night air, crisp from the salt water of the ocean.
Your ex husband says your name gently. “How are you?”
The minutes are racking up. “I’m fine. How are you? How are the girls?” You care about one more than the other.
“I’m well, thank you for asking. The girls are alright. We’ve been keeping busy. I’m calling about Rosamond.”
Your heart stops at the mention of your youngest, newly-six year old daughter. “Is she alright?”
“Who’s the Tooth Man?”
You sigh, sitting down on the bench. Maybe you should have brought your beverage. “He’s sleep paralysis. He stands in Rosamond’s room and watches her, sometimes threatening to eat her. He’s got a lot of teeth.”
Your ex hums in interest. “I would have shared this information with you.”
“I’m sure it’s come up and you just weren’t listening.”
“I always listen when you speak, darling.”
“I told you not to call me that anymore.”
“Ah. Of course. My apologies.” There’s a pause. “Is this what she’s in therapy for?”
You take a deep breath. “Yes.” You don’t mention the fact she’s been in therapy since you moved to the States a few months ago, that all of the girls have been in therapy. You don’t mention that the therapist thinks the Tooth Man is a manifestation of Rosamond’s fear of leaving home.
“I see. Well, she’s been asking all morning to talk with you. Is now a good time?”
Your heart skips in your chest. There’s a feeling of relief bubbling up in you, eyes becoming watery. “Absolutely.”
“Just one moment.” He speaks Japanese off to the side, calling for Rosamond. In a few moments, there’s rustling, then:
“Maman?”
Your smile is watery. “Coucou, chouchou. How are you?”
“Good. I miss you,” Rosamond says earnestly.
You swallow thickly. “I miss you too. What have you been up to?”
“So many things! We went to the zoo and the aquarium and have been doing so much walking. I got new Pokémon cards!” Rosamond details the cards for you, talking about their holographic edges and rare beasts. Suddenly, you don’t care about the minutes anymore.
“That sounds like so much fun,” you say, just as earnest. “Things here have been so boring without you.”
Rosamond giggles. “That’s not true! It’s summertime! You can’t be bored during the summer! You have to find something to do!”
Good parenting comes back and hits you like a truck.
“You’re right,” you say. “What should I do?”
Rosamond hums as she thinks, just like her father. “Maybe you can play with my toys! I bet my Littlest Pet Shops want to see you.”
“That’s a good idea. I’ll make sure to give them some love.”
“I brought Lady and Dressy with me, though,” Rosamond continues. “So you won’t find them.”
“Are they also having fun with you?”
You can hear Rosamond nod through the phone. “Papa bought me a purse to put them in.”
“What else do you keep in there?” You know Rosamond loves bags, loves putting things in bags. Loves carrying your lip products around in her little one when you go out.
With her gone, it feels quite strange that your lip balms and glosses and sticks are all in your own purse.
“Uh… lip balm and some yen,” Rosamond says. “Because I’m a little lady and need to be prepared!”
You smile softly. Little lady is not your doing, it’s her baseball coach’s doing. Rex’s doing.
“I bet you are the most prepared lady out there,” you say.
There’s Kuroro’s voice on the other end. Rosamond responds to him in Japanese with an, “Okay, papa,” before returning to the call. She continues to speak in Japanese. “Papa says it’s time to go.”
You return the language. “Okay, chouchou. I’ll talk to you later. Take lots of pictures for me.”
“I will!” Rosamond promises. “Bye bye, mama!”
“Bye bye, Rosa. I love you.”
Rosamond returns her love and includes a big kiss before the phone is passed back to her father. You let out an exhale.
“How are Dorothea and Celia?” You ask, inquiring after the twin nine year olds.
“They’re doing great,” your ex replies. “They’re happy to be doing all the things they used to do.”
“That’s good.”
There’s a moment of pause on the phone.
“Perhaps for their winter break you should come here instead of me coming there,” he suggests. “I think the girls might prefer that.”
“We can talk about it later,” you say. “Can I talk to Dorothea and Celia?”
“They’re with a friend,” he says. You feel tears start to well up.
“I’d love to talk to them, when they come back.”
There’s an interested hum through the receiver. “Would you?”
Everytime you’ve told him the girls couldn’t talk because they were with a friend flashes through your mind.
“Yes,” you breathe.
“I’ll let them know. Take care.” He finishes with your name, and you barely have a chance to say goodbye before the line goes dead.
You should head back inside now. Instead, your waterline grows heavy. With a shaky exhale, you blink rapidly. Press your fingers against your closed eyes, willing the tears to go away.
Instead, they begin to slip out.
You suppose the healthiest thing is to let them slip. Better now than when you’re inside around everyone, moved by the white wine in your cup.
The only problem is that once they start, they don’t stop. Your sleeve wets more and more with every pass as you wipe under your eyes.
“What a fucking asshole,” you whisper under breath, speaking about your ex.
Taking a deep breath of the salty air, you try to calm yourself back down. Your face feels warm from crying, a little puffy too. Part of you wishes you were still in your bathing suit— Swimming at night is dangerous but a quick dip would shock your body back to normalcy you think.
The door behind you slides open, with it chatter follows, then it closes off as the door itself is shut.
“Hey,” Rex’s drawl is smooth against the warm night. “Everything okay?”
You nod, but don’t turn to look at him. The lights from the house will shine upon your face. “Yeah, ‘m fine.”
“Brought you something,” he says, coming around and offering you a refilled glass of wine. Gratefully, you accept it. “You sure everything’s okay?”
“Yeah,” you say, unaware of how watery your face is. You take a sip of your wine. “Just miss my kids.”
“I’m sorry,” Rex says. He is, he truly is. “It’s rough.” It is. Truthfully, he can’t imagine going so long without seeing his own. When he had first heard about your custody agreement, he’d felt bad for the father. Only seeing his kids for twelve weeks seems brutal. Then, he figured that it was only twelve weeks for a reason.
You nod.
“Want some company?”
No. But you’ll take Rex’s. You shift over on the gliding bench you’re sitting on. Rex takes a seat, beer bottle resting on his knee. He rocks the bench once before stilling.
It’s quiet. The stars are brighter here than they are in the city, but still drowned out. The ocean crashes just beyond, in the inky darkness of night.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Rex asks.
You sigh. There’s a knot in your throat. “I don’t know what I’d say.”
“That’s okay,” Rex says.
You take a deep, shuddering breath. “We should go back inside.”
“We don’t have to,” Rex says.
You’re too much of a mess to go back in. You take a sip of wine.
“But they get it,” Rex says. “They watched me go through mine.”
His divorce. You’ve never breached this topic with him. Instead, the two of you have always danced around it.
You’re quiet for a moment. Take another sip. “I thought I’d be glad for a break. It was nice the first two days. But now…” another sip. “They should be here, y’know?” Here, with their friends, who were all sound asleep in their twin beds and bunks.
“Yeah,” Rex murmurs. “But I’m sure they’re having loads of fun in Tokyo.”
You sniffle and swallow heavily. “Yeah, they are. I just… I wish it had worked out.”
Rex nods. “Yeah. But everything happens for a reason, right?”
“I suppose so.”
“You don’t seem convinced.”
Even your laugh is watery. “I’m not.”
“I think one day it’ll click,” Rex says. “Something’ll happen and you’ll realize everything’s how it’s meant to be.”
You suppose it’s already turning out that way for you. There’s no more constant gaslighting, no more unwanted touches, no more manipulation. It’s almost suffocating how much you can breathe now.
“Yeah. I think I just miss them.”
“I’m sure they miss you,” Rex says.
“I don’t know if they do,” you admit, voice cracking. Tears begin to well up.
“Oh, Ophie,” Rex says, “I know they do. You’re their mom. You’re there for them everyday.”
“I know,” you mumble. “But…”
“But nothing,” Rex says. “Those girls adore you. My kids adore you. All of their kids do too. You’re just at the shortest stick of the draw right now. But you’ll be back to being the luckiest in just a few weeks.”
A tear slips from your eye and you’re quick to wipe it away. “I’m sorry.”
“What are you apologizing for?”
You shake your head. “It’s just– I just– It’s very unbecoming of me.” Your laugh is watery, and you wipe at your eyes again.
Rex balks at you. “You think crying about missing your kids is unbecoming?”
You sniffle. “Yeah, ‘cause I’m crying.”
Rex wants to take your face in his hands, wipe away your tears and tell you that you’re experiencing one of the purest emotions in the world. That it would be weird if you weren’t crying.
Instead, you take a sip of your wine, then pass the glass off to Rex. “I think I need to drink some water.”
“You don’t need to blame your emotions on the alcohol,” Rex says, but takes the glass anyways. “Really.”
A shaky sigh escapes you. Rex’s brows furrow. His voice is soft. “Want me to get you some water?”
“No, that’s embarrassing.” You sniffle again. “I’ll be okay in a few minutes.”
“Do you want to tell me how the girls are doing?” Rex asks.
You don’t have any good news to report. “I don’t know. I’ll have to wait for him to send me the stupid email.”
Rex furrows his brow. “What was he calling about, then?”
“Oh.” You let out an exasperated sound. “Rosamond is having those nightmares still.”
Those nightmares still. Rex knows about them– One day after practice, on a gentle Saturday in April, Rex had come up to you. His normal compliment about how well Rosamond is doing, how much she’s improving, had followed up with a: “She’s been really tired these past few practices. Is everything okay?” And you’d given him a flippant: “She’s having nightmares.” Then, you’d detailed them in brief: “There’s a man who has lots of teeth who threatens to take her away and eat her. We’re working on it. Practice is the highlight of her week, though.”
“Really?”
You nod. “So I’m a bad mother because of it.” Before Rex can interject, you speak, “He didn’t say that. But I felt it in his tone.”
“Are you going to let him ruin your night?” Rex asks.
That gives you pause.
“What?”
The advice Rex has had has been given to him– One night Rex had gotten up from the Dungeons and Dragons table to answer a phone call from his ex when they were freshly divorced, and come back in shambles. This wasn’t the first time. Nor the fifth. Fives had placed his hand on Rex’s shoulder and looked him straight in the eyes: “You going to let her ruin your night?”
If they were still in the military, Fives would have called her a bitch. But he has daughters now.
“Are you going to let him ruin your night?” Rex repeats. “You can’t.”
Rex has met your ex, met him at an end of season baseball party. He was in town to fly back to Tokyo with his daughters, and wanted to come experience everything. And Rex gets it– he was smooth and suave, shaking hands and proudly introducing himself as Rosamond’s father. Charismatic’s definition. Rex only exchanged a few sentences with him.
He can’t imagine the phone calls you must have with him. Can’t even fathom the fights. He knows, from brief discussion, you’d been trying to divorce him for years before he agreed.
“Fuck,” you breathe. Reaching over, you take the wine glass back. “You’re so right. Fuck him.” You take a long sip, then press the cold glass against your puffy eyebags. “Lord, he’s such a douche.”
“He seems like a piece of work,” Rex admits.
You chuckle dryly. “Yeah, he is. But then again, I guess I am too.”
You are, but Rex doesn’t mind. He doesn’t look inside to confirm his next statement, instead focused on you and the parts illuminated by the house lights. “I think we’re going to play poker soon or something.”
“Let me get myself together first,” you say. “I’m not very good at poker.” That’s a lie.
“I’ll teach you,” Rex says, just as you hoped for. “You seem like you’ll pick up on it quickly.”
Inside, with a can of sparkling water instead of wine, you sit side by side with Rex at the coffee table. Everyone is on the floor around it, Fives is dealing cards out, and your knee almost touches Rex’s thigh. The fabric of both of your sweatpants dusts against each other.
“We’ll play a practice round,” Fives says, handing everybody chips.
Rex explains the amount of every chip to you, reaching over you to point at every stack. He looks at your cards, too, and advises you on when to bet and when to fold. Perhaps you lean a little too close to show him your cards, a little too close when you whisper to him for advice.
But he’s happy to help. Anything to keep you from crying again. Anything to keep you close.

Nikolai meeting helina (I think that’s her name) and immediately going “oh my archons there’s two of them”
And like an 8 year old helina going “what makes you think youre good enough for my papa?”
Took a few days but we got it! I was already thinking a bit about stepdad Niki because of Pantalone's supposed "adoptive daughter" which, team girldad Pantalone ftw, but that's too fanservice-y to be true, I'm sorry. I'll still write it though because it's my dollhouse and I play with my barbies how I dang well please.
Consider this like... idk an AU version of chapter 7 shortly after his parents leave. None of this is canon to the fic so I'm gonna keep it second person POV but call him by his government name lmao.
Not Even Five Minutes of Quiet (A Falling Head over Heels AU)
Tumblr media
Before you can accept the forbidden fruit, there is a knock on the door behind you. Pantalone immediately scowls, putting the dish down in front of you. He leans over in his seat to address whoever is just outside the door. "What is it now?"
"Your daughter has returned home," the voice states, "and she would very much like to see you."
... Wait a goddamn minute, did they say daughter?
Pantalone sees your visible surprise and chuckles. "Did you not know I'm a father?"
"I, um... no, I didn't."
He turns his head. "Let her in."
You could hear the doorknob turning before Pantalone finished speaking. You jump when you feel someone rush past your chair and then throw herself at your host in an enthusiastic attempt at a hug. Pantalone grunts at the impact, but laughs and hugs the girl in return.
"I take it you missed me?" Pantalone asks. "I told you it would only be a few hours, my darling."
She looks up at him, presumably pouting. “It felt like forever!”
He shakes his head at the girl’s dramatics. “Did you at least enjoy your visit with the Knave?”
“Mm-hm! She found a big spider and she let it crawl on her hand. I didn’t wanna touch it though, so I just watched.”
The girl lets Pantalone go, and she turns her head to look at you. You blink, almost astonished at the undeniable resemblance between her and Pantalone. She has the same eye and hair colour, and her face is maybe the same shape, just rounder with baby fat and with a noticeable mole under her left eye. Her hair is tied back with a blue ribbon, matching the blue of her dress.
She tilts her head when she sees you. “Who are you?”
Before you can open your mouth, Pantalone answers for you. “This is Nikolai, remember? I work with his father and sister, the nice lady and the really annoying man.” He turns back to you, and gestures to the young girl. “Nikolai, this is Helina, my daughter.”
You sort of snap out of the stupor and find yourself smiling in turn. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Miss Helina.”
“Hello,” the girl greets back softly, clearly a little shy in front of a stranger. “Are you friends with my papa?”
You chuckle. “I certainly hope so! He did invite me over to have tea, after all.”
Helina pouts at her father. “You had a tea party without me?”
“You visited the Knave without me,” he replies, “and besides, it was an adult tea party. You would have found it boring anyways.”
“But you got to eat all the fun treats!”
You lift the little dish of bublanina up, and Helina and her father both look at you. “You can have my last dessert, if you would like. I don’t mind sharing.”
Helina looks back at her father, who nods in response. Helina grins, and takes a seat in the chair your mother was just sitting in. You hand the girl the dish, and she sets it down. “Thank you.”
“You’re very welcome,” you reply.
“I know this is a little on the spot,” Pantalone says, “but I hope you don’t mind being around children.”
You chuckle. “Oh, not at all. I have a niece and a couple nephews I adore, so I’m not bothered. Besides, it’s your home, not mine.”
Pantalone smiles warmly, and you feel as though you gave the correct answer to his question. “Wonderful.”
Helina quietly chews on the bublanina, her eyes scanning the room. She swallows. “Papa, where are the decorations?”
“I moved them to make things easier for our guest,” he replies.
Helina looks at you. “Are you the clumsy man who spilled wine on my papa?”
Your face flushes a bit, but all you can do is laugh. “I see my reputation precedes me.”
“You have to be very careful and watch where you’re going,” Helina states, “that way you won’t spill or break anything.”
When you lift your gaze up to your host, you are pleasantly surprised by a never before seen expression; quiet embarrassment. He’s clearly told Helina about you, which might be embarrassing enough, but he must have either neglected telling her about your condition, or she might have forgotten it. Either way, he’s trying to hide the horror of his child lecturing behind a neutral smile.
In turn, you, again, laugh. “I try to, but it can be tricky for me because I can’t see very well.”
“Really?” Helina asks. “Do you need glasses?”
You shake your head. “No, glasses won’t help me,” you explain. “I was born with a rare condition where I can’t see in the dark or out of the corner of my eyes. I used to see okay when I was really little, but now I can only see things that are right in front of me.”
Helina stares at you blankly, digesting your words.
You take your index finger and thumb and curl them until they make a little hole. “This is how I see things.”
Helina mimics your movements with both her hands. She brings them up to her eyes, and then looks around at you and her father. Her father chuckles at her antics, no longer embarrassed by her questions.
“It really is hard to see,” Helina comments, moving her hands away from her face. “That’s terrible!”
You grin. “It is! I’m used to it now, but sometimes I still trip over things or into people. That’s how I met your father, after all.”
“Did you tell him you’re sorry when you spilled his wine?”
“I did.”
“Did you pay to help clean it?”
“I did.”
“How? Are you rich?”
“Money from my job, and my parents are rich.”
“Do you live with your parents?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Long story.”
“Are you married?”
“No.”
“How come you’re not married?
“Longer story.”
“What's your job?”
“I’m a writer.”
“What do you write?”
“Books.”
“Are they good?”
“I think so.”
“Can I read them?”
“Probably not.”
“Why?”
“They’re for grown ups.”
“Does that mean they’re boring?”
“What’s your record for most consecutive questions asked?”
“Thirty eight.”
At this, Pantalone laughs, and reaches over to pat his daughter’s shoulder. “Alright, I think you’ve badgered Nikolai with enough questions for now.”
You wave your hand dismissively. “Eh, I don’t really mind. I know a few chatterboxes, and she’s nothing I’m not used to. At least she’s not in the ‘why’ phase like my youngest nephew.”
“Oh, goodness, I know it all too well,” Pantalone remarks. You’re not sure why, but the mental image of this often feared harbinger dealing with a chatty toddler is equal parts endearing and hilarious. You wonder if he finally met his match with her, or if his nonstop ramblings prepared him for that exact moment. What if she was even chattier because of it?
Pantalone stands up from his chair and claps his hands together. “Now, since we have plenty of time before dinner, what say I give you a proper tour of the estate? I think you’ll really enjoy the library.”
“Sounds lovely,” you reply, carefully standing up as well.
Helina slips out of her seat too, and she immediately takes her father’s hand and just stares at you. Judging by the little laugh, this isn’t the first time she’s done this.
“Apologies, she’s as protective as she is inquisitive. I think that’s something she’s picked up from the children at the Hearth.”
You just smile warmly in response. When you follow Pantalone out of the room, Helina tails right behind him. She occasionally glances at you from over her shoulder, and you smile and wave when she does. When the three of you stop so Pantalone can explain the architecture or the decor, Helina sticks close to him. At least twice, he pauses, looks down, smiles and says her name in a gentle tone you’ve heard your mother use on your siblings and father; the “please behave” tone.
When the three of you reach the library, Helina decides she is done with the tour. She gives her father another hug, and then scampers off. Pantalone shakes his head.
“She can get like that when I have company over,” he says, “I think it’s her way of being protective, though I also wonder if it’s a jealousy thing, since I’m her only parent and all. I try not to spoil her too much, I’ve dealt with too many snotty brats and I am not raising one myself.”
“Understandable, I was the same with my mom at her age.”
Pantalone enters ahead of you into the library. You take a step toward the doorway, but stop in place. You step back and crane your neck to the left, peering down the corridor. You squint, and at the end of the corridor, a small shape ducks around a corner.
A thought occurs to you; has she figured you out?
