i read lady midnight right when it came out, then i didn't read the rest of the trilogy til 2022. so it took me a minute to start enjoying kit as a character (which i do!). and i remember going into lady midnight like "oh a trilogy without a herondale main character, this will be interesting!" and then i got to the end reveal and rolled my eyes so fucking hard

#IM SORRY lmao #tsc #tda #the shadowhunter chronicles #for context i was a kid who was super annoyed that percy and annabeth were two of the seven demigods in hoos prophecy #bc i enjoyed the other five characters and their new parents and backstories so much i wanted two new characters #and i feel like the subsequent three books are considerably weaker because they dont spend enough time on those characters #BUT ANYWAYS this is a shadowhunter post lol #i didnt see The Vision i needed to read lord of shadows (i should have when it came out!!)#the funny thing is i remember reading shadowhunter books in 2017 #anyways! i have always felt that the shadowhunter books feature the perfect amount of involvement from old book protagonists #(except in TLH)#the first chapter of tlkof sampler gives me some hope that twp will have a good balance like that
