you’re making your way to the end of the amusement park, everyone in your group feeling very out of it. since at least two rides ago, your child, technically your boyfriend, had been dragging his feet. all of hyuck’s friends were getting tired too, you could see it in the way their eyes drooped and they lazily chewed at the cotton candy and other snacks in their hands.

it truly was a fun day, heading out at around noon to go to an amusement park all day with hyuck and his friends. it was something that you were truthfully dreading, being that you never really liked them that much, but the way his face lit up at the idea of attending was something you could never say no to. and truthfully, after a while they weren’t so bad. maybe their frontal lobes have all developed and are finally becoming men with humor that isn’t backed by jokes about farts and genitalia.

anyway, you’re getting closer to the entrance when donghyuck finally stops using you as a human crutch, grabbing your attention before pointing toward something in the distance. following the direction of his finger, you spot a photobooth in the distance and you’re immediately making your way towards it. he takes a large sip of whatever heavily sugared drink he bought earlier in the day, using it to wake up before telling the group where you’re running off to.

“we’re going to the photobooth, so don’t leave us while we’re in there.” he says, stretching and shaking away his fatigue.

immediately, jaemin’s looking at the metal box and its red curtain, smirking. “yeah, we’ll be waiting. don’t do anything other than take photos though..”

hyuck was fully ready to start fighting back, already forming an explanation as to why exhibitionism is perfectly fine but jaemin’s obnoxious cackles overpowered any and all of his rebuttals. accepting the slap on his shoulder, he huffs, making his way over to you.

you’re waiting patiently outside the booth, some other group already in there. he stands beside you, snaking an arm around your waist as you lean against the wall of it. truthfully, hyuck didn’t even have any sort of affinity towards them, but knowing you do he was more than happy to help you take any opportunity to visit them. he’s even bought you one of those cute binders for all your photo strips, pairing the gift with deco stickers for you to cover it in. of course, he got two to keep him and your friends separate as well.

“did you have fun?” you ask, pulling him out of his still sleepy daze.

he turns to you, smiling softly. “of course. best day ever.” he leans in, giving you a kiss to your cheek. “you didn’t have to say yes though, ‘cause i could tell you were hesitating when i asked.”

you flush, despite knowing he always sees through you. “yeah.. but now that we actually did it, i’m really enjoying myself. your friends aren’t that annoying anymore, too.”

he chuckles, sucking air in through his teeth. “of course. you showed me the way, so i enlightened them too.”

you hum, taking his arm in yours, resting your head on his shoulder. the sun is a perfect orange-purple, and the lights adorning all the attractions have flickered on a while ago. it’s truly picture worthy, but you’re more tired than you’d like to admit and choose to stay in the moment. you can see the group sitting at a picnic table, jisung’s flash accidentally turning on as he and the others try snapping photos of you two, and they giggle softly. you turn to point it out to hyuck but the other group is leaving.

he’s already dragging you in, sliding into the cramped booth before pulling you into his lap. before you can even make an attempt at paying for the photo strips he’s pulling his wallet from your bag (yes yours, why get something to carry his stuff when he buys you enough for the both of you?) and making the payment.

“how many?” he asks, gesturing to the screen in front of you. his arms slide around your waist, his hands resting over your stomach. the way his thumbs glide against your stomach make you feel a little dazed as you try reading the options, but eventually you pick the option with two strips.

“two copies. one for me, one for you.” you say simply, reaching out to click your option.

the countdown immediately starts, and you’re both full of giggles as you hurriedly try to decide your first pose. he’s throwing plenty out like spitfire, and through your fit of laughter you’re denying every one. ‘no, i’m not doing a nerd pose!’ or ‘nooo, something cuter!’ coming from you as he tickles you in attempt to stop your protests. eventually, the ten second countdown comes to an end, and the first photo snaps to capture a photo of you both giggling.

“aw, hyuckie, come on! i wasn’t even ready!” you complain, playfully swatting at his shoulder.

“oops. sorry mama, but come on. you’ll look hot regardless of how ready you were.” he dramatically looks you up and down, and you roll your eyes at his over the top flirting.

glancing at the screen, there’s eight seconds left, and you take his face in your palms. “let’s do an actually good one now.” there’s a speaker beeping signalling the last three seconds, and that’s when you lean in, giving hyuck a sweet, slow kiss.

even after the shutter sounds, he’s bringing you closer, pulling away to give you two, three more before he finally pulls away.

you sigh, recollecting yourself. “last one.. let’s be tame this time, okay?”

he nods obediently, ready to listen to you now that his need for your kisses has been fulfilled. you lean in, smushing your cheek against his with the cutest pout, and he mimics it immediately. with your hand brought up to his, you make a heart together, of course not without bending your pointer finger to make it a cat. the camera flashes one last time, and once the large pink bubble letters say you’re done, you excitedly get out of the booth to receive the printed strips.

waiting for them to fall out of the opening, you’re nearly bouncing on your feet. hyuck’s got your bag and he pulls his phone out, sneakily taking a few photos of you in your excitement before pocketing it for later. you’re just too beautiful for him to not capture it forever, your eyes glimmering with the multicolored lights all around you. once the photo strips are printed you pull them out, and you squeal, your smile growing impossibly bigger.

the first photo, of you giggling, is so perfect. you were apprehensive at first, afraid it was gonna catch your worst angle being that it was unexpected but it couldn’t have been better. your eyes are shut, smile big with pure joy. hyuck is looking up at you, his eyes glimmering with so much love. you didn’t notice it in there, but now that you’re looking at the photo your entire body heats at the way he’s looking at you like you’re the entire world.

the second one, you kissing, is adorable. you can’t wait to post it, knowing all your friends will be swooning over your relationship and you’ll be getting so many compliments about it. your hair is covering your face, the majority of it capturing the back of your head, but donghyuck is in almost full view. his eyes are shut, and his hand is making its way to the back of your head. the picture is radiating with love, and there’s no doubt in your mind that you’ll be showing it to your kids one day, and maybe even theirs.

the final one of you in your heart pose is the cherry on top, not outwardly romantic, balancing the other two out perfectly. you two look adorable in your little world together. your hand is on his cheek, pulling him into you, and both your lips are puffing up into a pout with how your faces smush together. it’s so you, and you know everyone will be able to tell you picked the pose out with the kitty heart.

there’s a pink, heart patterned frame around the photos, and at the bottom there’s the name of the park and a date. it blends the three photos together perfectly, and you’re thankful there’s no face warping photo. there’s a little bit of an orangey, hazy coloring over them, but it makes it all the better, giving it an old-timey romance vibe. hyuck’s skin is the right shade in all of them too, his tan being safe from any whitewashing technology.

“damn, can i see them yet?” he complains, coming forward and taking one of the two from you.

you look up at him expectantly, watching his reaction as his eyes trail down the strip. his cheeks flush, and he’s smiling lovingly at them. saying nothing, he looks to you and pulls you in for the sweetest hug, leaving a kiss at the top of your forehead.

as you make your way back to the group, he wraps his arm around your shoulder, “i actually really love this. like, i’m gonna get it tattooed right here.” he turns to you, already laughing at himself as his free hand makes a line across his forehead.

you giggle, leaning into him. “you’re so stupid! don’t do it, the photo is permanent enough.”

“true, true,” he says, laughing as you make your way to his friends, showing the photo strip. they’re all groaning, complimenting you two and your cuteness, all while complaining about their loneliness.

Marvel Team-Up 100 (December 1980)

Chris Claremont/Frank Miller & John Byrne

We've read a fair few issues of the long-running Marvel Team-Up and it's always an interesting time: now, for its 100th issue, we have the treat of it featuring X-Men (or, at least, X-Men-related characters) in both its main story and its back-up, both of which are striking and important stories.

In the first of them, the featured team-up is actually Spider-Man (yay!) and the Fantastic Four (boo!), but the story also introduces the silhouetted figure you can see here, initially seemingly as a villain.

If you're thinking "fuck, these layouts are good," then you're right: it's Frank Fucking Miller! We don't have time for Miller Discourse - I will literally never have time for Miller Discourse - but Miller here was at the beginning of his imperial phase, having just started drawind Daredevil and being on the point of taking over writing on it too, and his distinctively moody take on New York City is on display in this issue. This nightmare Deco tower, at a wildly expressionist angle, is purest Miller.

Anyway, I'm skipping over most of the action here because it's Reed Richards bullshit and I hate it, but I do want to talk about that mysterious new character: it's Karma, and she's got Issues.

A beautiful panel filled with politics: that's good comics, baby. It's important to say that there is also a fair amount of tone-deaf stuff about Asians in this issue - Karma's wider family feature and they're not exactly subtly depicted, especially the villainous members, who include Karma's evil twin brother.

And yet...this is 1980, the Vietnam War is a recent memory in the US, and along comes a complex, traumatized Vietnamese character, who evolves from villain to anti-hero to something like a full-on hero in the space of this single comic when - in a moment that's genuinely shocking, coming as it does in the middle of a fight in which Peter Parker and Ben Grimm seem to be competing to make the most wise-cracks - she kills and psychically absorbs her brother. This, I repeat, is our introduction to this character, her very first issue. Fucking hell.

And that's Karma! The story ends just after this, with her tentatively established as some kind of hero, but the reader is none the wiser about what's coming next for her: which was, as you probably know, an integration into the X-Men world and a gradual emergence as one of the most interesting and popular characters of that world (helped by the fact that she also eventually turns out to be gay, hell yeah). It's a hell of an introduction and a fascinatingly political story about the shadow of American imperialism, and it's then followed by this issue's back-up story, which is also powerfully political.

This is a Claremont/Byrne story, a little chaser after our farewell to him in the main book, and (despite the team behind it...) it's about Blackness. It's The One Where Storm and Black Panther Meet, And Also Apartheid South Africa Tries To Kill Ororo.

It's actually largely told, after the initial sequence, in a flashback to their first meeting, and I have tried and failed to work out how it's supposed to fit in with the backstory also depicted in the 2006 Storm series - I don't think they exactly line up, but the 2006 series does sort of reference and expand on this story, in particular by reusing Andreas 'The Bull' de Ruyter, the enjoyably repulsive Afrikaner villain.

In the present, it turns out, de Ruyter is still trying to kill them, and they get to defeat him all over again, and part ways in a bittersweet, ship-teasy moment (again, no idea how this fits into subsequent canon with them getting married and so forth, but, who cares).

This is a really remarkable issue, all told, and though it's all created by white men, and as ever there are some, shall we say, heavy-handed moments, but its use nevertheless of a Vietnamese heroine, her life ruined by American warfare, and of two Black heroes fighting an explicitly apartheid-supporting villain is pretty striking: on top of which, the art is outstanding. Great stuff! This is also the start of a run of half a dozen guest appearances and the like from this era that we're about to read, so let's hope the rest of them are this interesting.

Below the Read More is a copy paste of what I've sent some people regarding a brief overview of what my friend @whoredmode and I have been working on for our version of Steelport. Please keep in mind this is just a snippet. An actual post will be made sometime in the future to give a more rounded general idea of what the city is like. And then beyond that something with a lot more information.

I'm only posting this as like a sneak peak for y'all cause I figured it'd be a nice point of reference to have. That being said, if you have any questions regarding Steelport, please don't hesitate in sending me a message. I love world building, and this has been a fun little project to work on with Ted.

Steelport, Pennsylvania is a heavily industrialized major American city located entirely on Lake Erie. Founded in 1827 by blue-collar industrialists, Steelport would become a major hub for all manner of work during the height of the United States' industrial revolution. The city would also play a major part during both World Wars by manufacturing vehicles, supplies, and all manner of items during both respective conflicts. Unfortunately for the city and its many inhabitants whose main source of income came from these factories, the need for anything done in-house would take a sharp decline as the decades passed and more and more high profile clients would begin to use outsourced labor.

As with other cities and towns residing within the rust belt of America, Steelport fell on especially hard times, making it quite the hotbed for all kinds of criminal organizations to start showing up. Many of which consisted of Eastern European immigrants as they had already been living here for quite some time working as skilled laborers.

It wouldn't be until some time in maybe the early to mid 00's that Phillipe Loren and his group known as the Morningstar would make their presence known. Loren had already been making a name for himself across Europe as his rise to power within the criminal underworld has been making quite significant waves. Loren would view Steelport as the perfect candidate to jumpstart his expansion into the U.S., along with acting as a base of operations for his pet project The Syndicate. Eventually their partnership with Eddie "Killbane" Pryor's Luchadors would help them overpower any and all criminal groups within Steelport, and claim the entirety of the city as their own. So dominant were they that street names and things of that nature would be renamed in the Syndicate's honor.

So that's like the gist of what the history is. Still working on a lot more of it, but I don't wanna info dump too hard just yet.

NOW AS FOR THE CITY ITSELF

Steelport was allegedly inspired by Philadelphia, New York City, and Bridgeport in Connecticut. And when you look at its concept art it's no-brainer why that is. Unfortunately, yet not surprising, the actual in-game map looks nowhere near as interesting as its concept art. The layout of the map as well is also boring to tears. This is why we've modeled our version of Steelport after its concept art, its inspirations, and in general our own ideas.

This is an industrial city that blue collar workers built, and there's like absolute no zoning laws whatsoever. So there's just all kinds of buildings being pushed close to each other without this need to give everything its own designated space. It's a very dense city; the literal definition of concrete jungle. Notice how downtown is populated by all kinds of skyscrapers in different designs. Something that we want to put emphasis on are those design details.

There's a lot of art deco influence, brutalism, some gothic here and there. But among those buildings are also shiny glass towers that really give you the idea that they're trying to modernize things as well.

Downtown is meant to act as the modernized hub. As if it's the heart of the city itself. Surrounding it are the various other districts that are much more heavily industrialized and contain remnants of the city's past. That isn't to say that there are many abandoned buildings. Not at all. Some may be scattered around, but this is a city that's still meant to feel populated. There is just an EXTREMELY noticeable class divide given the state of things. Whenever you're in any of these other districts, you'll always get the sensation of downtown Steelport being a world's away. It's an entirely different sort of beast compared to everything else surrounding you.

Something else I want to emphasize is that there's a feeling of things being swept under the rug or repurposed. Like a lot of the buildings that were used for steelwork and etc have now been converted to god knows what. Two big examples of that are the Syndicate Tower and the 3 Count Casino.

The Syndicate Tower is this massive skyscraper that lords over the whole damn place. Now, while watching a GDC discussing the art direction of the game (which is actually a very embarrassing presentation), one thing that stood out to me were the comments about repurposing buildings. The bottom of the Syndicate Tower was sort of alluded to maybe having been a bank decades prior. Might have looked like those big fancy ones you see in period pieces. So instead of demolishing the whole thing to build a new foundation, why not build on top?

The 3 Count is another example of that. Having been a former oil refinery, it's now the main HQ and moneymaker for the Luchadors. It's such a strange but interesting kind of art direction that I wish they leaned into more in the game.

The other thing I wanted to bring up is that I won't be using the game's actual map because I don't think it's all that interesting in its layout.

Instead, I'll be using the beta cause I think it looks way cooler and has more I could work with! I'm gonna have to add an airport somewhere though cause I sure as shit don't see one there unlike the actual map/

Downton Abbey Fashion 26 - 1920s indoors fashion

Third season is when several of Edith’s looks start to have more glamor than Mary’s. Not consistently, but Mary is more prone to a little conservative clothing.

This looks a lot like the most boring black dress in the world that Mary wore a season ago, but the comparison is unkind to this one. First of all because burgundy is a much more interesting color standing on its own, secondly because the upper sleeves have a certain volume to them that gives them some material to swoosh around, and thirdly because this skirt does what I wish the skirt insertions on my self-made dress would have done – a nice, clean point of gathering down the front from a drop-waist sash that is similarly pleated. Good choice going with the simple overlong necklace, too.

Grey dress with no contrast color, but at least the skirt has pockets. The top has some white beading on it, leaning into a geometrical pattern here because it’s 1920, you guys, and art deco rules the world.

An example of Mary’s more conservative clothes, this blouse is kept pretty simple. Cream chiffon, a little pleating on the front, the well-known squiggly lines embroidered all over the yoke. The shape of the yoke and neckline makes this look a little dowdy imo, but whatever; I guess she has to give off some domesticity vibes here.

A black house dress; despite the color and the rather covering design, she does not wear this in mourning. Long straight sleeves and a small point collar, but we do have some embroidery in an almost electric green to loosen up the black blob effect: Meanders around the cuffs, collar and down the front, and then these little clover-like ornaments out of heart shapes.

Poor lighting, but I think this one is pale blue. I like that the fabric has a subtle stripey look to it, giving this very plain blouse a little extra. What else is there to say? Gathered sleeves, cuffs… And look at the shoulder seams: There is no such ruffling to the front as was quite popular during the last few years; this is cut to be smooth and streamlined.

So is this one, and it looks even more so because Mary isn’t wearing the hem gathered into the skirt. The sleeves are only half-length this time, but like the previous shirt, this burgundy silk one doesn’t really have a collar, just a neckline, buttoned and framed with a couple of pin tucks to both sides.

This is one of the dresses that I find a little fascinating, despite it being grey trimmed in grey. First of all, the sleeves with these long, buttoned cuffs that go up most of the lower arm. Then, the buttons on the front which I’m not sure if they are just decoration or if the front actually is buttoned up. And there is the hip region, under a baggy shirt separated with a drop waist as 1920s do, but the structuring still offsets the hips from the waist in a way that isn’t necessarily typical for the time’s fashion.

I first thought this was pajamas; the look is so casual and loose. But no, Mary is socially acceptable in this because she’s pregnant and pregnancy stays aren’t really a thing anymore. Like most of Mary’s red looks, this did stick in my mind; at least the darling neckline did. That’s some not overly complicated yet effective use of a little ribbon!

At first sight, I thought this was Mary’s honeymoon suit. But why would she wear an expensive get-up twice? Anyway, this has a similar color to said suit, a lovely forget-me-not blue plus a silk collar with a white or silver floral print on it. The drop waist looks like it has some gathering done to it.

Over to Edith and art deco shirts! Heh, I love this first shot. Because we know shirts like this; Edith, Sybil, and Lavinia have worn them throughout the previous two seasons. This isn’t a lot different – the principle is the same, wild art deco fabric, framed on the neckline, the half-long sleeves and the hem with a wide ribbon. The difference is the shape: This doesn’t end in the waistline, but drops all the way down to the hip bones, and instead of puffed à la pigeon chest, the front is smoothed out.

A knit cardigan, not much to look at. I liked the blue one last season better. This is very grey, and very shapeless. I suppose it’s quite cozy though, which might be needed if Edith has a meltdown at her father. Can we stop acting as if the family had been opposed to her relationship with Anthony Strallan because he was older than her? He was considered a perfectly acceptable match before his arm got rendered useless in the war. This storyline wasn’t about the age difference; it was about Fellowes’ latent ableism.

This orange is a tad redder than what Edith usually goes with, but I won’t complain; I like this blouse shape with the voluminous sleeves and the square neckline. Edith tends to wear cute colorful bead necklaces to these simple shirts, plus this one has a tone-in-tone embroidered drop waistband to brag with.

So we’ll get another one right away. And this one has the lovely tone-in-tone embroidery around the neck. Plus an adorable hat that I’m sure I’ve seen before, but have I commented on it before? Embroidered hatbands for the win.

Also a blouse Edith wears a lot, usually peeking out from beneath her pretty coats. This one has a round neckline, and I love the fabric; a striped silk damask, I would guess. And there’s this adorable little bit of beading on her shoulders!

I am, however, out of things to say about white and ivory shirts. It’s trying to put in a little interest with that punch-hole square and satin underlay. Eh. Doesn’t do much for me. Next!

One dress I inexplicably like despite not enjoying orange as much as Edith does. Well, it might be an ensemble rather that a dress; I’m never quite sure if the dress and shirt are separate or one piece, especially with the layering going on there. It’s a typical 1920s dress, an adventurous fabric print and a simple, streamlined cut, but the skirt has some volume in it that makes it fall nicely.

Edith wears this salmon-peach shirt with the tie collar several times over this season and the next. The pattern print is quite cute, but admittedly, I like this better as the background of a walking suit or other ensemble. But this gets my love for Edith’s knotted headscarfs!

killability ranking of all of eggmans lackeys from least to most killable. killability is based on how much i wish to kill them not actually how easy they are to kill. Metal sonic and sage do not count and they would be at the top anyways even if they were.

1. Agent Stone.

Objectively the best of all of eggman’s lackeys and the only simp that eggman gives any semblance of a shit about. For this alone he already wins, but I also like every scene he’s in so I would not want to kill him anyways.

2. Decoe Bocoe and Bokkun.

Bokkun carries in this bracket. He’s cute and I like him. Decoe and Bocoe are the OG orbot and cubot so they get gay robot points, but otherwise I never consider their existence.

3. Orbot and Cubot.

The sole reason I am wholly against the “eggman is the father of his robots” shit I keep seeing around. These robots are gay lovers and I don’t care what anyone says. Generally I do not wish to kill them however they can be annoying as fuck and are staples of an era of sonic I’m actively trying to forget

4. Thunderbolt the Chinchilla.

I never read the issues with her in them but I like her solely for being one of the rare female sonic charactes without the don bluth- style feminine hips and chest. We also generally need more sonic characters that are just ball-shaped. Sadly she is from Archie which ups her killability for me but that also means she is already dead so I’m not sure where that leaves us.

5. Scratch and Grounder.

This is where we start getting into the really killable freaks . Scratch and Grounder are annoying as fuck but they’re also hilarious in a way no other Robotnik lackey is. I wouldn’t even need to kill them they would just get into a rube goldberg style disaster full of slap-stick looney tunes comedy that ends with them falling into a hydraulic press and turning into accordions cue slide whistle background soundtrack.

6. Katella the Huntress.

Genuinely what the fuck was this episode. She’s not exactly a lackey but I felt compelled to add her to this list anyways. Kill.

7. Snivley.

I’ve never seen SatAM but every time i see this character I am filled with such rage and disdain. The killability was baked into this character’s design I’m sure of it. The writer’s intention was for him to be on this list. Kill.

8. Sleet and Dingo.

Now, I may be the biggest Sonic Underground defender of all time, but if anything that just makes me the most qualified voice in declaring these guys suck. Every minute of screen time they get makes me wanna die. A show known for its ugly designs and these guys are the ugliest. Would absolutely kill without question.

Fresh Season 2 Weapon Review

Once again, I'm putting my faith in the automatic cut. If it doesn't show up for you guys, god help you. Or press the...what is it? J key? K key? One of those skips to the next post.

Below there be thoughts on the weapons that came out.

The Whale In The Room

There're less weapons each time one of these damn seasons comes out. The first season of each era bans a bunch of the old weapons as they figure out the balance with the new stuff. That's fine, there was still a ton of stuff to go through. The second season of the De-Recall era introduced 13 weapons.

The third introduced twelve. The fourth introduced eleven. Ten. Nine. Eleven. And this new one coming up has eight.

Squidforce is losing steam. If I've said it before, I'll say it again. They're a bunch of boomers and need to go. Get some fresh minds in there. Like me. I'll run the damn league I don't give a damn, you think I don't know my way around weapon and stage logistics? Hell, maybe I'll even allow all of the idols I sponsor to, I don't know, participate in the damn sport.

I'm not going to rant again about accessibility, I did that last time. But it's a damn sin that Big Man has to sit there, on a podcast, and wax poetic about turf and ranked - sorry, anarchy - and the only time he gets to hold the fuckin' weapons is when he's working his second job at war because Grizz doesn't give a shit about regulations (Thank Squod).

Deco's .52 Gal (w/ Curling Bomb and Splattercolor Screen)

I'm trying a new formatting thing with the titles. It's going to be a little less consistent with what people actually call the weapons, but I want to highlight the developers of the kits a little more. There's a lot of work that goes into making even the worst kits, and it's not fair to the engineers at each company not to shout out who made them.

I've already given my view on the Splattercolor Screen last time, so I'm not going to go on and on about it. They did rework it, but barely. Still gives you damn achromatopsia, but...I dunno, it's not as bad as before. Dialed it back, I guess. Blegh.

The weapon itself...? I mean it's fine? The .52 didn't really need a tool for getting in like the Curling Bomb, it's got healthy ink spread and decent range. Curling Bomb is usually best on weapons that either have trouble inking or short range.

Course, that's me trying to be impartial. If you want to know my bias, I love curling bombs because it's so much fun to splat people with them. It's almost as embarrassing as dying to a Sprinkler.

That's besides the point though. If I'm going to be forced to think about the synergy with...that thing...I guess it provides pretty good area denial. The .52 is a scary enough weapon that it can take out opponents at a safe distance, and anyone heading through the screen is going to be at even more of a disadvantage than they normally would be going into neutral with it. The curling bombs don't add much, though.

Custom's E-Liter 4K and E-Liter 4K Scope (w/ Squid Beakon and Kraken Royale)

So. I've been one to rag on E-Liters in the past. Like literally last season, I ragged on them. And before grading this weapon, I'd like to retract some of my previous statements.

E-Liters are perfectly respectable weapons, capable of being played in skilled and interesting ways.

It's you saltlicks that just sit in the same damn place for five minutes doing sweet FA but looking down your sights that piss me the fuck off. Do you spend your free time watching paint dry? Do you put your meals in the microwave at low power just so you can watch that shit turn for thirty minutes? The hell are you doing playing this sport when you could pick up the well-respected and more-your-speed human game of FUCKING BACKGAMMON

Anyway. The actual weapon. Once again, freaky special, but I did try it. Don't say I never did anything for you guys. And...I like it. E-Liter at its base is a very solid support weapon. Even just seeing one on the other team is psy-ops, and as long as you can convince the enemy that you're a threat, you don't actually have to follow through on too much to keep them on their toes. Squid Beakons are great to mobilize your team, since you won't be on the front lines unless you're a Battle E-Liter (respect). And the Kraken works wonders to get people off of you. Just try and use it smart, don't chase people off into the wild blue and get caught with your pants down when it expires.

Custom's Explosher (w/ Splash Wall and Triple Splashdown)

Ahhh, Triple Splashdown. The noobkiller. Menace to turf, nigh inconsequential to ranked - sorry, anarchy.

I like this kit. Explosher has always had a lot of trouble keeping people off of it, and its base kit of Point Sensor and Ink Storm didn't really do much to help it. But this one's got a Splash Wall to give a bit of buffer (though you're going to need to stack some Ink Savers if you want to do anything after throwing one), and Triple Splashdown as a panic button.

I don't normally like panic buttons at the best of times, but this is a weapon that really needs one. Getting rushed down sucks as this thing, and having some tools to help with being harrassed by Splooshes and the like really helped it out.

Dolphin's Dread Wringer (w/ Squid Beakon and Wave Breaker)

I don't like Squid Beakons quite as much on this guy. The Wave Breaker works nicely with such a slow but terrifying weapon. I love Wave Breakers on any kind of mid-to-long range slosher that can take advantage of tags over walls. So...most of them. But Squid Beakon?

I mean this thing isn't going to be on the front lines all the time, sure, and it never hurts to have beakons on the team, but...I don't know, I feel like if the team tried a little harder, Dolphin could have found something better for it. Hell, Dolphin makes Sprinklers, right? I would have taken a Sprinkler over Beakons to make for even more consistent specials.

Eh, I dunno. The Wave Breaker's nice.

Foil's Flingza Roller (w/ Suction Bomb and Splattercolor Screen)

I love the finish on this thing. The Flingza Roller to begin with is one of my favourite weapons to look at. Weird, rustic, industrial. The folding mechanism needs constant upkeep, sure, with a roller whose entire gimmick revolves around the flick, that's only natural, but it's so simple yet so great. And the navy blue finish is just, chef's kiss, y'know?

And yeah, another Splattercolor Screen, you knew they were coming.

Okay, I'm stalling a little. I freaking love this weapon. I loved the original Flingza, and as much as I wanted to hate this thing because of its special, I don't. I really don't. Suction Bombs just feel so good to make people scatter like minnows. And until Dynamo stops sucking major ass, this is the closest we're going to have to a long range roller. With Suction and Screen, this thing excels at flushing people out and following through. And I HATE that I think that because I still fucking hate the Screen.

Deco's Glooga Dualies (w/ Point Sensor and Trizooka)

First off, absolutely love the finish. Striking. They look like power tools.

But other than that? I dunno, they're...good. They're good. Tagging is always nice, though I kind of wish that they had the dart instead. More weapons need that thing, and I think it's neat. I could probably fit a dart onto Gloogas if I really wanted to, though I'm not sure I'd be able to make it league legal (#DownWithSF).

But I'm digressing. Going into a fantasyland where I get to make my own kits for league.

There's just not much exciting or standout about it, y'know? Tag someone, take 'em out. Tag someone, take 'em out. Gloogas are a pretty terrifying weapon as they are, and this is just a way more aggressive kit. But it's not like....burst bomb aggressive.

...Or line marker - sorry, Angle Shooter aggressive. (Nouveau I swear to god please change the name)

Shelly and Donny's Nautilus '79 (w/ Suction Bomb and Triple Splashdown)

What a gorgeous weapon. The gold-rimmed finish? God. Sheldon knows how to make 'em. Or, I should say, not Sheldon. I happen to know that this one was designed and manufactured by Shelly and Donny, the little guys that run the stores in Inkopolis. They look pretty young (I haven't asked ages) but for their first crack at a weapon kit they did a pretty good job. Pick this weapon up if you can. Even if they're in the pocket of Squidforce, it's always good to support up-and-coming designers.

Beyond the looks, this thing is serviceable. (Sorry, guys, but I'm not going to mince words just because you're new. Feedback is feedback, and if you only get gilded phrases you'll never grow!) Suction Bomb and Triple Splashdown is an alright combo, respectable, though I get the inkling that the two of them had Squidforce breathing down their neck trying to make them include one of the new specials in this thing. I haven't gotten a Splashdown dev kit yet, so I don't know how actually hard it is to work with, so I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they did the best they could under the circumstances.

Dolphin's New Squiffer (w/ Autobomb and Zipcaster)

Fuck you guys they put a fun weapon in the game.

Custom's Douser Dualies FF (w/ Ink Mine and Killer Wail 5.1)

Alright, on to the brand new weapons they introduced. The meat of it.

That is to say the fucking pair of them come the FUCK ON-

These guys are interesting. Love the firehose inspiration, Custom's really been coming out lately. Three new kits (The E-Liter and Scope count as one) and a brand new weapon in a single season? Jeez, guys, slow down!

As for effectiveness, I like the special on them. They're pretty long range as it is, but they've got a damn slow kill time if they don't roll, and if they roll, they don't have the damn long range anymore. So the Wail really helps them out.

I think if I had to use a word t describe the Dousers it'd be 'underestimated'. That's probably going to wear off the more we see them, and understand how they work, but they just don't look like they should have the range that they do. Those hydraulic pumps do wonders man, what I wouldn't give for a three month internship at Custom. Custom's weapon department. I don't want to be stuck making actual fucking power tools.

Sub's a wash.

Sorella's Recycled Brella 24 Mk I (ft. Ammo Knights) (w/ Angle Shooter and Big Bubbler)

So you might be looking at the name and going "oh damn that's familiar"

And you might look at the aesthetic of it and go "Oh damn that's familiar"

And I kind of gave the game away by putting it in the heading but...yeah! This is a collaborative weapon between Sorella and Ammo Knights! Sheldon's never actually had the opportunity to make a brella before this, because Sorella's got a patent down on the damn things. Same reason I haven't been able to make any either. (Same reason they're all kinda dogshit tbh)

But they actually opened up the golden gates for a bit to let someone else in! And it's my man Sheldon! How did he do??

....Bad. Sheldon did bad.

Or, more accurately, I think Sorella did bad. I can see Sheldon's character in here. He always makes weird and interesting weapons with cool catches to them. This one's definitely the power in the shaft, and the fast-launching canopy. The aesthetics are so fucking good, too, I love what he did with it.

But I can feel Sorella's influence creeping over this thing like black fucking sludge. It's slow, the canopy's a joke, and what is that KIT? Big Bubbler??? On this???? Are you fucking joking?????

As a DID system ourselves, the portrayal of DID in Mikoto is what I would honestly expect from Japan imo. This is to say, compared to the knowledge and literature on DID in english as well as the cultural practices and differing societal norms of Japan, it does not seem entirely unlikely that this is how the majority of Japanese literature or knowledge on DID would be like this.

It helped me realize I didn't mean to state that literature itself was lacking but how that literature is utilized or represented. As a psychology major and someone who wants to get into trauma informed care, literature is expansive and can be translated! (I translate lit into vietnamese. i think finding the truly weirdest piece of art in a medium is less an exercise in extremity than an exercise in subtly- to an extent. if the weirdest piece of art is the one 'farthest' away from every other piece of art, then its incorporation of convention in a stream which theoretically maximizes that distance will place it off even that tattered path. so anyway, Maze of Justice

while answering what the truly weirdest geometry dash level is i don't think i could do, i gotta say it's like at least top 5 or 10. it's the epitome of this confluence of convention and experimentation, starting life as a very unfriendly to even bot impossible maze scribbled under a blade of justice noclip, it eventually was decorated with by far some of the highest production value from the ILL community (certainly responsible for some of the strangest levels ever made already) until the much more successful TRUE SCHAFS (a surreal level in its own right, the surprisingly conventional megacollab stylings contrasted with the utterly unhinged ILL style gameplay, not to mention it being revealed for the first time near the end of a 5 hour, like, ILL community broadcast thing?) but that decoration half looking like entire boj parts stolen and overdetailed to the point of breaking them, but where the stolen objects, if there are any at all, start and end is incredibly hard to tell, giving almost like a B3313 or some such effect where it just looks Wrong. and of course, it's a red "remake"(?) of blade of justice, one of the blue levels of all time, especially since it comes from an era of especially red extremes. it's the kind of idea i'd find hours into deep meditation and wish i could make but not have the patience/colleagues for, it's probably the closest a geometry dash level has gotten to feeling like something you'd see in a dream if you have gd brainrot. the song helps too, a "remix"(?) of the song used in boj with some parts just taken directly from the song with minor edits and others being entire orchestral/sound design remakes that flatten the great song like how the decoration flattens the great level, but this bastardization works, because i actually like this level slightly more than blade of justice (and i quite like blade of justice!), it having produced something much more subtle than conventionally good but utterly fascinating

i haven't even really talked much about the gameplay either, greatly confounding this by, in the decorated mode, being almost completely uncorrelated with the structuring resulting in the icon in any showcase of it just haphazardly clipping around the level, the Maze in question requiring extensive knowledge of the game and analysis in the editor to even understand, a wave near the end being so hard to even bot it's been deemed impossible to do so (while still theoretically physically possible), and it not really reminding me of many other impossible levels, memory levels, or really even many levels in general. my lust for bizarre game breaking gameplay is a big reason i like it as much as i do but the deco is kinda mid so it's like a high 8/10 but i'm not sure a level this strange in this way even could reach higher for me, it's kinda a requirement for it to be slightly visually boring to be as bizarre as it is

I just got up and started drafting this no planning but I love tossing things at walls at this point like girl, catch *bounces off and hits me in the face*: Maybe Dennis tries to take a mental health day and goes off on his own but instead of going anywhere gets trapped in a parking garage instead, and in trying to rev his car or break out or break through the gate thing, he crashes it or it catches on fire or something, the smoke setting off automatic water sprinklers that in turn set him off, having his full “in the rain” breakdown moment under the spray of the sprinklers, only for the gate or exit or whatever to open or become clear seconds later, either by itself or by someone in the gang coming to help (perhaps revealing he wasn’t trapped after all, he was just going about it the wrong way or idk)... and then it’s a metaphor for him being trapped inside himself for so long, his shell, (breaking open shells this season), his emotional walls, his fears, what have you, and something being opened inside him, being let out at last, (possibly allowing for scenes like the scream after breaking his hand in Goes Bowling as opposed to not even a flinch in Chardee Macdennis with the dart board).

And then also maybe things get better as he does, they have their big gang ep! Bowling! They do this activity together as friends again, and they cheer each other on! But then: big season cliffhanger dramatic reveal, perhaps Mac leaving now or Mac bf or what have you, and now that they’ve been elevated up for a minute, well, the harder they fall :)

Or no, perhaps backwards actually, perhaps the fall is first, the big reveal, whether it’s Mac related or not, (I’m trying to not tie everything to him because Dennis has been on a slippery slope for a long while on his own, but it’s tough because they’re at times intrinsic, but anyway), perhaps it’s the catalyst for Dennis to take a mental health day and search inside himself, (perhaps inhaling fumes from the parking garage incident I’ve made up, he does so literally by clip show-esque going into his mind again, which could explain some odd dream-like set deco) and he goes through his whole thing, he opens up, he comes out, he finds his pride, idk! and then bowling validates it, bowling shows the effects of what this means for him and bowling and all gives us closure (to the Vitruvian era that’s been crumbling for a while) and yes let’s be a little wild as a treat and say it may even give us macden, letting him and them and the show and things move forward, (like letting his car move forward in the garage), (lots of vehicles this season), opening the gate, opening new doors into new possibilities, (new rooms in Charlie’s apartment), breaking out of internally or externally imposed confines, for the gang, for the show, changing or breaking the rules of the game (lots and lots of games this season too, which makes me think perhaps Chardee Macdennis may make its reappearance in Bowling but with the teams being the girls against the guys? But that’s a different conversation.) Anyway, opening doors, moving forward, breaking walls and breaking rules and changing rules but still playing the game and Dennis Takes a Mental Health Day and Dennis Takes a Mental Health Day and— *the wall I’m throwing things against basically just becomes sentient and starts fighting me at this point*

Originally my angel universe started out as. A mystery skulls animated au based on the song (not) a devil by deco*27 and it wasnt very detailed at first

The basic premise was “what if Reverb (the demon character that appears for like. two seconds not counting when hes possessing people) was an angel? and then i ran with that and then au reverb became extremely ooc and mutated into an original character and i added charcters and lore and now its just its own universe

theres a lot of lore (still probably not entirely detailed as it could be because i think i have a favoritism problem with the angels and their lore…) also NONE of it is meant to be biblically/religiously accurate like. i do not follow any of those depictions or like. religion lore idfk what to call it i just took the concepts of angels and demons etc and RAN WITH IT

also heaven and hell dont exist in this universe we just have the angel realm and the demon realm

and you may be asking “then where do dead people’s souls go?” . eated by the myceliums

the basic lore for angels and demons are that theyre creatures created to work in tandem to protect earth. none are inherently good or evil. (its just that humans, being the way they are - attributted those labels to them) demons and angels used to interact and were actually allied at one point

however an outside force built distrust between the two and caused them to split apart

eventually the angels fall prey to the influence of a “god,” becoming more opposed against the demons and aggressive towards them, driving them out, seeking out angels who ally with demons, enforcing a strict rule on their own kind (executions, arrests, exiling angels, irrational fear etc). they declare themselves as at war with demons

the halos around their neck are from mainly forgotten origins, but seem to have been an attempt at calming their fears, exposing liars within their own circles

the angels live in a society oversaturated with propaganda and fraught with religious trauma

meanwhile, after the split, demons descended into anarchy and developed contracts as a way to combat the chaos and ensure their own safety and power

anyway thats basically the history and background of angel and demon conflict

oh yeah and humans. exist too HHAHAJAHA

theres a whole lot of other interesting bits of lore outside of history but i think this is enough for now HJAHAJA you can ask about more if you’re interested

shinobu octobrush !!!!!! its quick its fierce its sneaky and its got the fuckin. zipcaster special. which makes u look like a ninja and u can stick to walls and jump around and stuff. he and souma play together especially cus of being in the marine bio circle <3 they r besties. tableturf battle enjoyer too. the silly card game :3

hydra splatling for mika i think hed go crazy . does a bunch of damage good for takin a lot of people out especially from a higher vantage point. just feels right. i dont think hed play a lot but would be scary good

dapple dualies for subaru (admittedly i dont know much about him which i hope will change soon) but its got a good like backup/support kit and is also pretty good for holding mid n stuff. again these r all very vibe based. i think hed be more meta and pay a lot of attention to outfit abilities and weapon kits. maybe more of a competitive player definitely goes crazy for splatfests

for koga id say carbon roller deco? its like small and unassuming but can definitely be aggressive. also its special weapon is like a giant bazooka which i think hed have fun with. i also dont think hed play that often but i think hed have fun with it. probably plays salmon run most often

rinne is . annoying. im giving her a charger/sniper. i think she would like gootuber. its quite heavy and does a lot of damage even if you dont charge it all the way . also i think shed go for the even more irritating route of jumping into battle with the sniper and killing people from a closer range which is definitely possible with gootuber. ALSO its got sub and special weapons that are really irritating to dodge

sora maybe luna blaster/luna blaster neo? theyre small and cute n do a lot of damage in a few hits but id have to look at the kit again. i think (once we can play tableturf in the lobby online!!!!!!!!) hed play w shinobu

but if there's one thing that i know after listening it THEN re-listening it AND THEN re-listening it, then after analyzing both salamander and the voice drama, i definitely gonna be voting forgiven for fuuta. okay here's why. (even though i know that half of the fandom gonna be voting forgiven for him anyway lmao)

salamander is essentially a song about loving something that hurts you, got addicted to the taste of it even though it might harm you or cause you pain. it's also mentioned in the song that you can find ways to make it less painful, but you'll be definitely "eating" or consuming it anyway. it's literally in the song,

do you know why the song used salamander? it's because salamander cannot actually stand the heat, it's basically a myth because they liked to sleep in damp logs used in camping. they will actually die when burned because they need the mucus on their skin to survive, but salamanders can survive the heat when forced, not because they like the heat or because they are fireproof. so the singer, the speaker, is basically asking a salamander to die for the thing they love, which is the heat. salamanders can regenerate their body part, though, so that's probably the reason why the singer was confused why a salamander wouldn't like the heat even though it's probably going to survive when it can regenerate its cells. but it will still be painful. but they're going to survive anyway.

then like, we have backdraft. the last part of the song, the rap part, got me really interested, right? because holy shit that is a lot of words at once.

so taking what we know from salamander, we know that fuuta was probably building a habit to enjoy the thing that harmed him. from bring it on, we know that he's chronically online so that's probably what he can't stop enjoying. he knew that it was wrong and harmed him too, but at this point, he's addicted and can't stop. he's at the front line and center, even when he's half dead (not sure if it's like him being real almost dying or metaphorical social death) he can't stop because he had to "impress" the spectators. he was "lynched by the masses" probably means that he was peer-pressured to be the leader, to be the hero (callback to bring it on) but then thrown away and judged when all gone to shit.

which led me to my third point, onigiriico made a translation of the voice drama which you totally should read by yourself because i am in pain and i am biased for him fucking sue me

he had a good point, which is why was he the one being punished when it's not just him who bullied this person. he only said what's wrong is wrong and what's a sin is a sin, then probably triggered a wave of bullying. fuuta might be a person who has a big following, so he might feel like he's a hero because people do listen to him, people followed him, so it's the eyes that followed him. but one thing is for sure, he felt guilty for what he did, and he didn't know what he did would impact the other person this badly. what he needed wasn't getting beaten up, he's just so fucking chronically online dude. he needs THERAPY.

(at this point who in milgram doesn't need it. probably yuno)

so yes, i will vote forgiven. because it's not about the matter of him being innocent or not. let me be clear, i don't think he's innocent in anyway. bullying is a serious matter and what he did was wrong. but he's sorry and he felt guilty for what he did. (even when he said that he's not in the wrong but he obviously is, lmao kid) he probably wanted to stop but wasn't allowed to by his peer and his addiction, but now he knows how fatal his action is.

so in my eyes, he's forgiven.

Spotlight: Ties That Bind

This one’s a doozy folks! If you missed the last spotlight you can go read it here, but strap in for The Ties That Bind, an absolutely brilliant take on humanformers. It’s hosted here at @tiesthatbind-tf​ created by @artsy-hobbitses​!

Q) Give us a run down of your cont! What's it about, what's it called, what's it like?

Ties That Bind is a humanformers-based original continuity which is part Science Fiction and part Alternate History where the invasion of Quintessons and introduction of their technology to Earth in 1920 sets the world and humankind on a completely different trajectory. The active narrative spans a period from 1920 to 2070, covering the First and Second Quintesson Wars, the interplanetary Antillan War (leading to the creation of Unicron on Mars) and the Great War which involves the Autobots, Decepticons and Functionist stalwarts, and how it affects the characters.

The cast is pretty sprawling and the narrative is mostly centred around human drama with bits of humor interspaced and a dash of horror (mostly centred around how the previous government often chose to utilize the technology left behind from the Quintesson Wars to create new systems of oppression, which affected many of the characters, in the name of worldwide rebuilding efforts).

Q) What characters take the lead here? Any personal favorites?

I will admit to this continuity being very much heavy on the relationship between Old Bastards  Optimus Prime and Megatron, which is given considerable weight as they were best friends who had known each other since childhood and were deeply intrinsic to each other’s growths as individuals, which makes it all the worse when guilt and betrayal enter the party. Despite being captains in two corners of this battle, there’s a part of them that just cannot let go of their pasts together and they need to reconcile with how this will affect their agenda (Megatron) and how they lead their team (Optimus) who don’t necessarily share their history.

Other characters with significant development include:

Starscream, a Cold Construct in a toxic working relationship with Megatron with whom he is hiding a dark secret, who struggles to balance the underhanded viciousness he believes he needs to gain power and his innate desire from his Senate days to make the world a better place. 

Windblade, a Camien native who fights her government’s apathy concerning the situation on Earth which they see as unsalvageable compared to their more Utopian society. 

Prowl, a Cold Construct raised from childhood to be a cop in a police state, who finds out that he was brainwashed several times  to ensure his obedience and efficacy as a government asset and is now working to reclaim some semblance of the humanity he was never allowed to feel and figure out how much of him is who he really is and how much is programming.

Hound, a sheltered Beastman who joined the fight to ensure that Beastmen the world over would have the same rights he did in his homeland of Shetland Isle, but is forcefully stripped of his humanity and faced with his animal side during the war and has to relearn what personhood means amid his trauma.

Q) Is there a bigger point to this, like a theme or some catharsis? Or is it just fluffy fun?

God with the amount of time I spent sleepless trying to figure out how the logistics of this or the semantics of that were supposed to work in universe, I cannot for the life of me say it’s fluffy fun, but I can’t exactly say it hasn’t been pretty engaging either!

There’s elements of war being messy for everyone involved where there doesn’t seem to be a clear line between friend and foe at times, but I think for most part it prescribes to  Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s belief that people are inherently good, but are corrupted by the evils of society. Despite its dark themes (Including but not limited to child abuse, torture, illegal experimenation  and brainwashing), love and friendships do prevail, kindness does beget kindness, found families are made, even the smallest actions matter, and things do get better because there are people on both sides who genuinely want to, and strive to make it better.

With Cold Constructs and Beastmen, it also delves heavily into what it means to be human; to have agency and personhood.

There’s also a strong undercurrent of taking responsibility for one’s actions, even if they were made with the best of intentions (Avoidance of this is what eats up Starscream and Megatron from the inside, and what Starscream eventually embraces).

Q) How long have you been working on it?

There’s two answers to this!

I’ve had a Humanformers-related universe going all the way back to 2007 around the time the first Bayformers came out---basically I had a choice between learning to draw cars or draw people (I was an anthro artist back then) and I immediately chose people.

The 2007 draft however had no worldbuilding or connective storylines and was mostly a fun little venture into character design and practice which were actually instrumental to me experimenting and learning how to draw humans properly.

I left the fandom for about a decade and when I came back to it in late 2020 around September via the War for Cybertron series on Netflix, I immediately got hooked on the 2005 IDW comics I missed out on and wanted to get around to updating my old designs as well find a way to translate several of the concepts I wanted to explore in a human sense, so the 2020 update became its own full-fledged original continuity with detailed worldbuilding and history.

Say hello to my workspace! I’ve been working exclusively on the Ipad Pro since late 2016, which is fantastic because I can basically whip up concepts and sketches on the go anywhere. Nowhere is too out of bounds to work on TTB!

Q) YESSSSS alright I must admit this is one of my favorite Rungs, and certainly my fave within TTB. Amazing. Phew, anyway. Where did you draw inspiration from? What canons, what other fiction, what parts of real life?

TTB was initially conceived as a faithful retelling of the IDW 2005 narrative before it was transformed into its own continuity and as such, it borrows heavily from concepts and mirrored plot lines introduced in that run! I chose to have the series inspired off it specifically for the amount of history and worldbuilding it introduced to the franchise.

Anime like Gunslinger Girl and Beastars inspired the depictions of Cold Constructs, especially the more harrowing aspects of their upbringing as government assets instead of children, and Beastmen (Beastformers) in TTB.

I haven’t depicted the world itself in my art all too much, but the architecture from Tiger and Bunny, which has sort of a futuristic Art Deco feel to it, is what you’d usually see in major cities. There is an in-universe reason for that---with a Point Of Divergence set in 1920 followed by 25 years (an entire generation) of progress basically being kicked to the curb due to the Quintesson wars, mankind was basically in a time-locked bubble until the end of the wars, and by then their heroes were 1920s-style rebellion leaders, which lead to 1920s fashion (especially among the Manual Working Class---Megatron, Jazz and Optimus all rock 1920s fashion at some point of their lives) and architecture being celebrated and retained as sort of a reminder of how things were before The Invasion. This anime’s background design is also where I adopted the tiered system TTB’s major metropolises are often built on (with each tier being designated to a different working class) from.

The main artistic style itself is a love letter to 90s cartoons, in particular Gargoyles’ deep and drama-driven character narratives and designs as well as The Centurions’ take on body armor logistics.

I also take inspiration, especially armor-wise, from the characters’ given heritage and background. As an example, Hotrod who is depicted as Irish has the flames on his armor done up with Celtic knots. Welsh aristocrat Mirage’s armor bears olden knight-style filigree and has his Autobot logo designed as a coat of arms. Indonesian Soundwave’s armor and Decepticon logo takes cues from Batik and Wayang Kulit while their mask is based off the Barong.

Q) They are absolutely gorgeous! Show off something you're really proud of, a particular favorite part of your cont.

The worldbuilding in general! Most Humanformers I’ve seen tend to treat it like a fun exercise which it is and is definitely valid, but I found myself wanting a full-fledged world to lose myself in and I sought to try and make that world myself by drafting a detailed history and timeline of events which would affect ongoing narratives, having indepth worldbuilding to include almost all societal aspects of the universe and  expanding on the concept of Beastmen and Cold Constructs existing in a human setting.

I’m not so secretly proud of the research and diversity included to make the cast look like the multicultural, globally-based team that they were meant to be instead of being locked to a single region! My original draft from 2007 was, to put it simply, quite culturally monolithic and I wanted to improve on that aspect with TTB.

I’m also proud that I’ve kept to it this far! I’m a notoriously flaky person jumping from one idea/fandom to another and to have kept at this continuity for the better part of ten months is honestly a personal feat.

Art-wise, this scene depicting a young Megatron working alongside Terminus and Impactor (cameo by @weapon-up-wallflower​‘s OC Missit!)  is definitely one of my favorites since it helps build up the world they live in and plays to familial bonds and comfort found in one another despite their less than ideal circumstances.

Q) Everything has come together so beautifully, you absolutely should be proud. What other fan canons do you love and why? Would you like to see them interviewed?

I am dying to hear more from @iscaredspider​’s Sparkpulse continuity! Her designs are MIND-BLOWINGLY GORGEOUS and I want to hear more about what inspired her to work on it!
