Yikes that sounds really annoying :( I feel for you sometimes I'm annoyed at my roommate as well I go to uni she doesn't and she'll like talk to me while I'm trying to study or take tests. I would definitely try to gently tell your roommates to get a life. There's this notion that roommates have to be friends but it's okay to just be roommates. Maybe try a gentle method that doesn't directly involve confrontation like a do not disturb sign on your door?
The thing is I haveeee, and I’ve gotten so much better at just leaving to my room / the house when I need to, but there are still moments that are inescapable like when I want to make food or clean or w/e or just laze about and they end up like, abusing the moment.
And I’m pretty forgiving abt it bc they’re well meaning but, yeah. I have a little thing on my door abt what I’m doing and where i am, and ur totally right, gotta start using the dnd. I just feel bad smh and that needs to cease.

Hello! I love your writing so much! Can you write some kanej with Kaz being protective of Inej? If not that’s completely fine :) thank u!
a/n: okay so I always really struggle with “protective Kaz” things because I feel like he knows that she can most definitely take care of herself and he respects her for that. So this is what I came up with to try and meet in the middle. There’s that scene in Six of Crows where Kaz sends Inej to get rid of Rojakke (is that how you spell it? Idk he was in one scene, his name is not the point) and then when they’re back in his office that night he asks like “Did he put up a fight?” and she says “Nothing I couldn’t handle” and he says “Not what I asked” so thats where the idea for this came from, thank you bye.
word count: 2634
There was something about the floor of the Crow Club that set Kaz at ease.
Its endless cacophony of coins bouncing from table to floor, the spinning of Makkers Wheel, the laughter floating onto the street, and, his personal favorite, the flipping that only accompanied a deck of cards. Somedays he thought he’d be content to shuffle at a table forever.
It was then that Inej pushed through the entryway, shaking off the rain that rarely ceased to pour over the crowded city. She pulled her hood down, her inky hair braided into a long rope laying against her shoulder. Kaz traced every inch of her, as he often did when she entered a room: the slope of her nose, the smile she flashed to the greetings shouted in her direction, the knives strapped to her hips. He tried to ignore the voice in the back of his head that reminded him he’d also be content to be with her forever.
There were times he hated the things that he would notice, hated how his brain slipped past the innocent intention of watching to a sinister place of touch and consequence. He flipped the thoughts over in his head, studying them from every angle like he would a card trick, trying to mold them into different pictures. But the images froze in place anyway; the feel of her skin against his burned like fire, even in an illusion.
Most of all, he hated that he couldn’t force these delusions into reality, couldn’t touch her how he wanted, couldn’t force the bile down and only feel Inej’s warmth.
As she approached him, nodding to the private game rooms at the back of the club, giving him a clear view of her, he saw that something was amiss. Scarlet bloomed through her vest and onto her sleeve, trailing down to her thigh. He followed her, shutting the heavy door behind them and turning its complex series of locks. She’s upright. That’s all you should care about.
“The Exchange was crawling with Stadwatch. Security must be tight since the incident.”
“Did they see you?”
Inej practically scoffed, leaning her weight against the wooden table. “No. But I’m sure they’ll find someone who fits their bill. You know as well as I do, the council will want this quieted soon.”
Kaz nodded. Two weeks ago, the Exchange had been robbed, and though it was never publicly released, Kaz knew exactly what was stolen. After all, he had all the stocks and shipment papers locked in his safe as they spoke.
Roeder had been the one to pull off the job originally, this being one of the few things Kaz had required a spider for while she was busy at sea. He had done a mediocre job, but he was sloppy with locks and leaving the place as he’d found it. Going back to the scene of the crime seemed too risky a gamble but when Inej returned, she knew she could scrape it. And Kaz wasn’t going to start doubting the Wraith’s abilities now.
He flipped through the file she handed him. To anyone else, it may have looked useless, just pages and pages of numbers and times, scratchy handwritten tables filled with nonsense. But to him, and to a mercher with half a whit, this was key to investing. With the talleys and dates in hand, he would know what shipments to bank on and where to place his shares for the next few months.
“As always, the Wraith pulls through.”
Inej nodded and pulled her hood up once more. “You’re welcome.”
Kaz gave her another once over, slower than intended. “What happened?” He blurted, his voice sounding like a low growl in his throat.
Inej looked down at herself, brows knitted, studying the blood on her trousers. “Bullet or two from a guard just shooting at shadows.” With her brief summary of events, she took her weight off the table, readying herself for the journey back into the wet.
Kaz felt a sinking in his chest at the thought of her walking away from him, even if it was just to her apartment, and he hated himself for it. Now especially with her covered in blood, he couldn’t stomach the thought of her leaving. Without meaning to, he had taken himself back to before she had left.
It had been Inej’s last night before heading to sea when they had tried to pretend they were normal, that there wasn’t still so much between them. Kaz sat next to her on his bed, bad leg out in front of him, avoiding her gaze.
“We don’t have to do this at all.”
But he did. Kaz had to prove that he had come further than this. I can best this…
When she set sail the next morning, the feeling of failure settled deep within him, right beside the feeling that this time, he may never get her back from the sea.
Now, he couldn’t help but stop her. “Inej-” he began.
She turned, her hand resting on the doors heavy handle.
He made up the steps between them to stand beside her. Kaz forced himself to give any semblance of explanation, knowing that he’d promised to give her what she deserved and knowing that he was currently failing. “Let me walk with you.”
Inej nodded, dropping her hand as Kaz unlocked the door and opened it for her. He felt awkward, and quite frankly stupid; opening it as if she was some pretty girl that couldn’t handle the difference between whether to push or pull. She strided through anyway and he followed, silently cursing himself and hoping the grimace on his face looked normal for his temperament. Once they’d made it to the street, she slowed to walk beside him.
At first, neither of them spoke. Then, in her gentle and hushed tone, perhaps to avoid his inevitable questions about her evening, “Am I getting a personal escort through the Barrel?”
Kaz needn’t look down to feel the smile in her voice. “Is that what you’d prefer to call it?”
“It isn’t exactly an evening stroll down the canal, is it?”
“I suppose not.” He cringed at the sound of his own rasp, smashing against the lift of her voice like waves against stone. Though from what he could tell, she didn’t do the same. Inej only shrugged, tugging her hood forward against the drizzle.
“I only meant that I should feel lucky to get the King of the Barrel to myself for the night.”
Kaz thought he might keel over. “I am a busy man, but I still find time to survey my kingdom.”
Inej only rolled her eyes and kept her gaze straight forward. A moment of silence nestled between them, leaving only the sound off the East Stave hanging in the air. After fighting with himself for what seemed like far too long, his gaze settled atop her.
“Yes?”
Kaz swallowed hard, “Did you miss Ketterdam?” Did you miss me?
She considered his question, and to him, the silence stretched through the air like a rubber band about to break.
“I did. More than I thought I would.” Inej finally relented. Her voice had drifted to a somber place, a quiet stillness replacing the humor she’d had minutes before.
They had turned down a back alley, the darkness consuming them in sore contrast to the dazzling lights of the Stave. Their footsteps echoed in a syncopated rhythm, his awkward gait and cane paired with her near-soundless steps.
Maybe it was the high of having her back, walking next to him through Ketterdam as they’d done so many times before, but he hadn’t realized the direction they’d been walking. They approached the Slat, its crooked frame jutting out from the foundation at a welcoming tilt. He glanced down to Inej once more, watching as she took in the building, trying to see it through her eyes, as he wished to see much of the world.
“Is the Captain afraid of her old nest?”
If he had intended it as a jab, she didn’t take it as such. Inej shook her head once, “It just feels like home…”
She moved before he did, taking a deep breath of the stale air inside as she stepped through the threshold. There was movement, as there always was, but the Slat was quiet this time of night and Kaz was thankful. It meant that, selfishly, he could keep Inej upstairs and to himself for as long as he could come up with things to talk about. Perhaps they’d even sit on his bed and she would allow him to make up for the last time they’d found themselves there.
Kaz marveled at her as she took the creaky stairs ahead of him, the steps creaking beneath his weight after seemingly not registering her. His eyes once again wandered to the blood stains that covered her. He felt a hair-pin trigger go off in his chest and suddenly, there was anger.
Stop that. She isn’t yours to save.
Inej waited for him to open the door, sidestepping as they both now stood on the landing. If Kaz hadn’t just been studying her, he might have missed her change in demeanor and the way she shifted her weight to the wall behind her.
“Inej.”
“Hm?”
Kaz attempted to even his tone. “How bad are they?”
“What?”
His voice sounded like stones grinding against one another, “The bullet wounds.”
She shrugged but he could see the stress of the evening in her features. Her limbs seemed heavy and her eyelids fought to open with every blink. With a shove, Kaz unlocked his office door, forcing the warped wood open and, without hesitation, Inej followed him in, taking in the room as she clicked the locks back into place.
He leaned his cane against the makeshift desk and shucked his gloves off as he approached the cabinet beneath his wash basin, digging through its drawers for gauze and shears. Behind him, he heard the familiar creak of his window opening. The smell of rain against the cobblestones wafted toward him.
“Your window seat has felt neglected. Your crows too.”
“Does that mean you stopped feeding them while I was gone?”
No. They reminded me of you. I couldn’t let another piece of you go. “They’re scavengers. I’m sure they managed.”
It was then that Kaz turned to see her standing by his bed. Inej looked up, her cheeks flushing red like she’d been caught doing something she shouldn’t have been. He only walked over, setting the bandages on the thin mattress. “So I don’t have to find a heartrender for you.”
“They really aren’t that bad-”
“You’ve bled through your clothes. They’re bad enough.”
Inej cleared her throat as she began removing layers of knives and clothes. Kaz’s eyes roved over her, the pounding in his chest growing louder. He hated it.
Her arms and shoulders were covered in fresh scars, some of them still red and scabbed, and the bruises on her ribs were still deep purple.
“Slavers don’t give up their cargo easily.” Inej’s voice came out with caution, as if she was waiting to see his reaction.
His gaze met hers, voice carving into the air like a rusted blade. “Where are they all now?”
“Dead.”
A sense of pride cracked through him as a rare smile settled on his lips. Kaz nodded. “Good.”
She picked up a strip of bandage, wrapping it around the bullet wound on her bicep, silence filling the space between them. Inej didn’t need to look up to feel the weight of his eyes on her. A flush crept to the tops of her ears. “I didn’t want you to see.”
It was rare for Kaz Brekker to be confused and yet, here he was.
“I thought you might kill someone. Or start to doubt that I could handle myself.”
“I could never doubt you. Only a fool would.” It was only after he said it that he realized it had been aloud.
Inej tied off the bandage then glanced down to the blood on her pants.
“I can-”
“No.” She said, finally making eye contact with him again. “Stay.”
For his sake and hers, Kaz turned his head to avoid staring as she shimmied out of the bloodied fabric.
She sat on the edge of the bed and poked around for any bullet fragments, the muscles in her thigh tensing, the dried blood on her skin looking black. Inej was just as strong as ever; all her limbs built of corded muscle coated in the lithe grace of an acrobat, just as he remembered. Despite his better judgement, Kaz took a long look at her.
It’s shame that eats men whole. He could feel it gnawing at him as he attempted to push away the image of her bare thighs against his sheets.
“Kaz, can you-?” She nodded to the scissors, her hands stuck at an awkward angle around her leg, the apprehension on her face clear.
He picked them up and took a deep breath before sitting down beside her. When he leaned over, he was careful not to touch her. Her breath stirred the hair on the back of his neck. One turn of his head and their lips would have been inches apart. This reminded him far too much of the hotel washroom; he only hoped it would end better.
Kaz cut the bandage gently, taking the end from her and tying it, his knuckles grazing against her skin. Panic hit him before anything else, afraid he had overstepped. It took him a moment to realize there was no revulsion roiling through him.
“Inej-”
“It’s alright… Thank you.”
He nodded, grabbing what was left of the bandages and the shears and placing them on top of his dresser. Then he opened one of his drawers, rummaging through the mess of clothes until he found what he had been looking for.
Kaz handed her a pair of cotton sleep trousers. “I can’t imagine yours are salvageable.”
Inej smiled, sliding them over her legs. They were huge on her. And though they hadn’t discussed her sleeping arrangements for the evening, it appeared she would be staying there.
He sat back down, staring at his bare hands; the hands that had just graced her without trouble or hesitation. She reached over, threading her fingers through his, and studied him, watching for the shift. But it never came.
“Will you lay with me?”
At that, he looked up.
In front of him was a girl who deserved so much more than Dirtyhands. A girl who made the sea cower and made the sun look dull. A girl who could have done anything she wished in life with ease and grace. And yet- she was sat in his bed, holding his hand, and patiently waiting for the semblances of affection he could provide.
Kaz felt himself nod.
She pushed herself back until she was against the wooden headboard. They both moved slowly, carefully placing their limbs so there was no overlap.
Then, he was laying beside her; both of their heads turned to study each other.
“Thank you.” Inej’s voice nearly a whisper.
The minutes stretched into hours, and Kaz lay listening to her breathing. I will have you without armor.
Well after twelve bells, the cadence of sleep seemed to grab hold of him, weighing heavy on his body. As his eyes drifted shut, he hoped that there would be more nights like this: nights with Inej close by his side and stillness in his mind.
He reached for her hand in the dark and promised he would not let go come morning. He would never let go of her again.

A Glimmer of Light | Mina
Genre: a little angst, fluff
Wordcount: 1,648
Request: i would rlly appreciate if u would make a mina scenario where the reader and mina sit under the stars and talk about how hard life has been lately and they end up crying hugging each other
A/N: Happy birthday to this angel!! Take care of you guys, not only physically but mentally as well :)
Tumblr media
You grabbed your hair in desperation as you were just leaning over your books to study for your finals. The amount you had to learn was simply unbelievable and to make matters even worse, your grandma had gotten really sick and you were constantly worried about her, making it impossible for you to concentrate.
That’s why you instantly grabbed your phone when it made a ringing sound, glad for any distraction. It was a text message from your girlfriend, and you started smiling when you thought about her. But when you read the content of the message, you became serious again.
Mina: I’m really sorry that I’m such a bad girlfriend lately. I promise that I will take you out once I’m feeling better again and I will make up for everything that I have ruined.
Every word made your heart feel heavier and after you had read the message, tears started to spring to your eyes. You knew that Mina had been crying and it killed you that instead of making her feel better, you managed to make her feel even worse.
But you needed to change that. Just because your girlfriend wasn’t ready to go out with you yet, didn’t mean that you couldn’t go on dates altogether. So instead of burying your head in your books again, you started to think about a possibility to show Mina that there was nothing she had to apologize for. She made you the happiest person on earth and you needed to proof it to her.
After having hatched a plan, you quickly sent a text to Momo because you needed her members to help you a bit to make it work.
You: I wanna surprise Mina tonight. Do you think you can stall her at practice for a bit?
You asked her and after just a few seconds you received a thumbs up and several other unexplainable emojis in response, making you chuckle before putting on your shoes and exiting your apartment.
Your first stop was a supermarket, because you knew how much your girlfriend loved snacking. After having bought all her favorite snacks, you eventually made your way to the dorm. Full of excitement you opened the door with your spare key once you had arrived and instantly started to prepare your date with Mina, because you knew that it wouldn’t be long until the chaotic bunch would come home.
Wanting to enjoy the mild summer weather as long as it lasted, you decided to spend the evening with Mina on the balcony instead of her room like usually. You started to pile up pillows and blankets until almost the whole balcony was one big pillow fort. Satisfied with the results, you additionally decorated the railing with some fairy lights and prepared a snack corner, so the two of you could cuddle all night without having to get up.
You had just finished to brew some tea when you could already hear the loud voices of the girls in the hallway. A few seconds later the door swung open and they walked in, while heatedly discussing something. Your girlfriend was the last one to enter and didn’t participate in any conversations, causing you to immediately worry. She looked tired, making you wonder if it had been too early to let her participate in the normal schedule again.
“Hey Y/N.”
Dahyun was the first one to greet you and at the mentioning of your name, Mina’s gaze finally shot up and landed on you.
A small smile started to form on her lips, and she wobbled over to you, immediately wrapping her arms around your waist.
“What are you doing here?”
She mumbled against your body, while your hand automatically wandered to her head to run your fingers through her hair.
“I wanted to spoil you a bit tonight for being the world’s best girlfriend.”
You grinned proudly and Mina hid her head in the crook of your neck, showing you that she was probably blushing right now.
“I’m sorry that we can’t go out.”
Mina said sadly when she pulled away, making you kiss her forehead in response.
“Don’t apologize. I wasn’t in the mood to go out tonight anyways. I have something better in mind.”
You stated conspiratorially while wiggling your eyebrows and Mina laughed at your expression.
Glad that you had managed to lift her mood, you interlaced your fingers and gently pulled her to the balcony. As soon as Mina saw the fairy lights and the pillow fort, she gasped in surprise.
“Jagi! What’s that?”
She asked with wide eyes and you pulled her closer.
“I really wanted to cuddle with you tonight.”
You smiled, causing Mina to squeeze you lightly.
Together you went outside and snuggled up in some blankets, while you pulled out the snacks. In response, Mina squealed silently, and your stomach started feeling giddy when you saw her sparkling eyes.
“Thanks, jagi.”
She almost whispered while reaching out to grab your hand and you quickly kissed her palm.
“Anything for you.”
You responded, before a comfortable silence settled between the two of you, while you were munching on the snacks.
The night was clear, and the stars were sparkling almost as bright as Mina’s eyes. In awe, she looked at them and kept pointing at the different constellations excitedly.
You, however, were much too distracted by the beauty of your girlfriend. A wide smile was playing on your lips and you had never felt so grateful in your life before. Only a few months ago, a moment like this was unimaginable. But now Mina looked truly happy again.
“Y/N are you ok?”
Mina suddenly asked in shock, ripping you out of your thoughts.
Only when she reached out and wiped away a few tears from your cheeks, you realized that you had started crying.
“Um...yeah.”
You stuttered embarrassed, but Mina immediately kneeled in front of you and pulled you into a hug.
“Hey it’s ok.”
She shushed you, but the comfort she was providing made your walls crumble even more and your tears fell at a rapid pace now.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to ruin our date. But seeing you so happy is a true glimmer of light. I haven’t really felt well lately.”
You sobbed and Mina held you even tighter while mumbling comforting words.
When your trembles had ceased a bit, she carefully pushed you back and started to wipe away your tears with her sleeve.
“Why haven’t you told me that you’re not feeling so well?”
She asked silently and you avoided her gaze sheepishly.
“I didn’t want to burden you. And you couldn’t have helped me anyways. I’ve just had a lot of stress because of my finals and I have learned that my grandma is sick.”
You explained with a shaky voice, while your tears started to pool in your eyes again.
When you looked up, you could see that a few tears stained Mina’s cheeks now too.
“Maybe I couldn’t have helped you, but I could have comforted you.”
There was hurt, but also guilt resonating in her voice.
“I’m sorry that I haven’t been the girlfriend that you have wanted lately. I should have noticed that you were struggling. But with the schedule starting again, I have felt a little more choked up lately.”
Mina exhaled shakily and you could see that it was hard for her to talk about this. She usually kept to herself and the two of you had to work a lot on your relationship until she was comfortable enough to open up.
“I’m so sorry to hear that Mina. But remember that you can always talk with JYP and ask for a break. There is nothing wrong with that. We can go together if you want to.”
You tried to ease her worries while your own tears still streamed down your face.
Not being able to look at Mina’s tear stained face any longer, you pulled her against your body again and let her bury her head in the crook of your neck.
You could feel that she was soothingly stroking your back and in the safety of her arms, you released all the tears that you had held back the past weeks. The two of you stayed in each other’s comfort until your sobs slowly died down and you could feel the tension leaving Mina’s body. Carefully you leaned back to be able to look into Mina’s eyes again.
“We’re going to make it through this, you know?”
She asked with a serious expression and determination in her voice, making you smile in response.
“I know.”
You whispered, causing Mina to lean forward to press a soft kiss on your lips.
Slowly she turned around after she had pulled away and rested her back against your chest. You wrapped a blanket around the two of you and kept your arms around Mina’s body to pull her as close as possible. Together you kept looking at the stars while savoring the other’s presence.
When a shooting star lit up for a few seconds, Mina gasped.
“Quick, Y/N, you need to make a wish.”
She exclaimed excitedly like a little kid and you smiled.
“Ok, I’ve made one.”
You stated only a second later, because you didn’t even have to think about what you were wishing for.
“What did you wish for?”
Mina asked curiously and you kissed the crown of her head.
“For you to always be happy.”
You whispered into her ear and Mina snuggled closer to your body.
“I will be as long as you are with me.”
She responded while stroking the back of your hand with her thumb.
You smiled widely, because you knew that there was nothing that could tear the two of you apart. Mina was your glimmer of light and you were hers. Together you could light up the whole world.

ensorcell | chapter 7.
Tumblr media
pairing: prince!taehyung x reader ; park jimin x your best friend fandom: bts warnings: non idol!au ; prince!taehyung ;  arranged marriage ; language genre: fluff ; angst ; smut word count: 2.4k+ previous: 1 ; 2 ; 3 ; 4 ; 5 ; 6
summary: it was funny, how meeting one single person could change your life forever. you were ordinary, he was not. he was rich, you were not. he fell in love with you and so did you. even though he was never supposed to.
a/n: Idk, it never feels like the last update has been so long ago and then I’m like F U C. but anyways, I hope you like this chapter, because I am so excited for it!!!
Tumblr media
“Come on, this isn't even a hard topic,” your best friend said over FaceTime.
“You try balancing university and the life of a royal, we'll see how you do.
You let out a breath when you scratched out almost half the page that you had just written.
Your mind was somewhere else, you couldn't focus on your studies, but you knew you had to if you wanted to graduate.
“I'll send you my material once I'm home, okay? Everything I have. Maybe that'll help you.”
“Thank you,” the corner of your mouth raised into a small smile, “And I'm sorry I haven't called much lately.”
“Don't be sorry, I know life must be difficult, but.. well.. Jimin invited me to stay with him for a few weeks once I'm done with this semester and I accepted. To see him, but most importantly, to see my best friend again.”
“Wh..- Are you serious?!” you grabbed your phone and pulled it closer, “Don't joke around, please, I don't think I can handle it right now.”
“I wouldn't joke when it comes to this,” she giggled, “I thought it'd be good to be by your side again. I'll arrive a few days before the wedding and will stay three weeks in total. So I can help you with anything you need.”
“You are truly the best.”
“I know,” she brushed her hair back behind her shoulders, making both of you laugh, “Okay, gotta go, sweetheart. I'll text you when I'm home, alright?”
“Okay. Be safe. Love you.”
“Love you too,” and with that she ended the call and you pulled the phone to your chest, falling back into the mattress so happily at the thought of finally seeing your best friend again.
Taehyung, his mother and his siblings were all doing their best to make you feel at home here, but having her by your side would truly make you feel at ease for once.
The closer the wedding day came, the more nervous you got and the more stressed, equally.
You were now being tutored in politics, history, economy and geography, but also had to attend classes on how to act, speak, walk and dress like a princess. On top of that, you had your normal courses that you had to finish, had a wedding to plan, had to get to know your future husband and had to make sure to stay out of trouble.
To sum it up, you were close to having mental breakdowns every single night.
“What got you so happy?” Taehyung knocked and then walked in when you sat back up.
“Did you know that (Y/B/F) would visit soon? Jimin invited her and she'll be here before the wedding and will stay for three weeks!” you literally bubbled with excitement.
“Jimin invited her?” Taehyung sat down on the couch in your room, a small smile tugging on his face, “Wow.. if he invites her here he must be really serious about her.”
“Well, maybe we can convince them to marry too. We could have a double wedding,” you joked, making him chuckle.
The relationship between you and him had shifted.
You were comfortable around each other now, called each other friends already.. but because of how busy you both were, nothing more was able to blossom so far.
It had stayed at that last kiss for the cameras. Now you only held hands and hugged each other when out in public, but only so that the story you were trying to convey was being more believable and you still were in the good graces of the public.
The pressure was simply making it hard for you two to step your relationship up a notch, but you figured that being friends with him was a good first step. Everything else would hopefully happen naturally.
“How are your studies going?” he asked as he got back up to look over your shoulder, only to snort when he saw the page being an absolute mess, scribbles everywhere and it didn't seem to make any sense at all, “Not good, I see.”
“Maybe I should just quit. I mean, it's settled now that I'll become a queen eventually, I don't really need my degree, right?”
“Hey, don't say that,” Taehyung shook his head, “You've worked so hard for your education before you met me. Don't let me ruin it. I don't want that.”
“I just can't seem to focus on it right now.. there's too much other stuff going on.”
“Listen,” he sat down next to you, his hand carefully on top of yours as he wasn't sure what you were comfortable with, but when you turned it around so that he could hold it, he got his answer, “I know that this is a lot.. it would be for anyone, but you're not alone in this. I think you should focus more on this right now,” he looked at your notebook, “Let me and my family handle the wedding stuff.”
“Your father won't be happy I'm skipping his very important 'royal history' classes, though.”
“They're boring anyways, I can sum it up for you in twenty five minutes and you'd never have to have one of those classes again,” he loved making you smile. He loved your smile. Did he ever say that to you? Maybe not.. he should tell you how much he loved seeing you like this, “Let me talk to him.”
That made you beam. The thought alone of dropping one class, whether it be for your royal duties or your uni degree made it all seem so much easier all of a sudden.
“I'd appreciate it.”
“Perfect. Then I'll do that.”
There was a moment of silence between you two, you lowering your head to look at your hands until he did the same, his thumb gently brushing over your skin with a smile.
“It's hard to find moments like this,” Taehyung admitted, “I wish we could have more before the wedding..”
“Well.. we'll have plenty afterwards,” you wiggled your eyebrows, making Taehyung chuckle once more
And as if on cue, because you truly did not get a break in this palace, the door to your room got opened and his father entered without bothering to see whether or not that was even okay.
You would have expected Taehyung to jump up and away from you, but he did not. He stayed on your bed and he kept holding your hand.
After all, you were becoming his wife, so holding hands was allowed, right? “What are you doing here?” his father asked.
“I think I have more reason to be here than you do,” he retorted.
Taehyung had admitted that the relationship with his father was becoming worse by the day and you could really feel it. The atmosphere was so chilly all of a sudden.
“Never mind. I need both of you anyways. We have a situation that requires your attention.”
“A situation?” you asked, now both of you getting up from the bed and following him when he left the room wordlessly.
He was on his own, only his assistant following him like an obedient dog.
You thought he might give you a little bit more details as to what it is that was going on all of a sudden, but you got nothing out of his father and neither did Taehyung, despite him continuously asking.
You only realized what was going on when you entered a room in which two people were in.
One, Taehyung was not pleased to see at all.
“What is this?”
“Well, well, well, if it isn't my future husband,” Princess Dae, then. She got up from the couch and wanted to approach Taehyung, seemed to want to kiss his cheek, but he caught her arms in time and gently pushed her away, shaking his head.
“Stop this.”
“Princess Dae and her father are here because of a proposal,” Taehyung's father said, his hands confidently behind his back.
“I thought we were done with proposals,” Taehyung took a step back and wrapped an arm around your middle to pull you close, “We agreed on what's going to happen.” “Well.. you agreed and completely left me out,” Dae sighed heavily and plopped down next to her father, “Very rude, Taehyungie.”
The nickname coming from her made him cringe visibly.
“Taehyung, you've always been a very smart man. You've always put your kingdom first and knew what was best for your people. I know that. That is why I wanted my daughter to marry you, because I knew she and you together would be wonderful rulers,” her father started, taking a sip from his drink, before continuing, “What happened was.. unfortunate. But I can not blame you. I was a young man too, once. I wanted to experiment and see what the real world was like out there. I, however, was smart enough not to get caught while doing so.”
Taehyung snorted and shook his head, “This is ridiculous.”
“Listen to what he has to say, son.”
“Our agreement was to have half of what's ours be yours. But you see, I'm old, Taehyung. My wife is old. We want to settle down, we want to be normal and live a normal life. We want to spend the rest of our days in peace with dogs and grandchildren, not rule until an heir is old enough to take my place. So we thought, why not give you all?”
“Excuse me?” he furrowed his eyebrows.
“If you marry my daughter, my kingdom will fully be yours. Everything I own, every piece of land, every men at my disposal.. it will all be yours. Instead of splitting my kingdom with you, I'm transferring all of its power to you and your kingdom. You will have double the resources, double the men and double the power.”
Taehyung stared at him for a moment, then turned his head to his father, “Are you serious?! I'm getting married to (Y/N) in two weeks, we held a press conference and told our people, everything is decided! And you're still trying to sway me?!”
“Taehyung,” you said quietly, trying to have him calm down. Him screaming at his father, king or no king, was probably not a good idea right now.
“We need this. You know that our kingdom isn't doing as well as it once was anymore. With this, with their kingdom at our disposal, we'd be so well off economically that we or our people would never have to worry again!” the king took four large steps, then he was right in front of Taehyung, grabbing his face to make him look at him. Really look at him, “I want what's best for you. For your future. For the future of our kingdom. And this deal is the best we could ever get.”
It was a weird situation, because they were talking about marrying him off to someone else, while you were still in the room.. did anybody pay attention to you? Only Taehyung. To the rest, you were invisible.
Your betrothed pushed away his father's hands and grabbed yours to pull you out of your room.
But before you were gone, his father said: “There will be another press conference tonight, Taehyung. I trust you will do the right thing. For all of us.”
He stopped for a moment, you thinking he might say something else, but he didn't.
He just pulled you along.
You wanted to talk to him about what had just happened, wanted to discuss it, especially because you felt like he needed to vent, but you couldn't.
Because he dropped you off at your room and you could see that he was angry. More than you'd ever seen him before.
“Do you trust me?” he said out of the blue.
“I wouldn't be here and I wouldn't have agreed to any of this if I didn't.”
“Then let me handle all of this. Stay in your room until my sister gets you later. Please..”
You let out a breath and gently cupped his face.
You wished he could have stayed, but he only wrapped his hands around your wrists, kissed your forehead and then pushed them away to go and do whatever it was that he felt like he had to.
And you were doing exactly what he said, not knowing at all what was going to happen next.
Tumblr media
It's been three hours and you had really felt those hours.
You had tried to distract yourself, but nothing worked.
At this point you were just walking up and down your room, waiting for something, anything, to happen.
Until finally the door got opened and his sister walked in.
You thought she might take you somewhere, but she immediately shook her head, “Sit..”
“Oh god.. he took the deal, didn't he?”
“Just.. turn on your TV. And please sit down, I don't think you can stand.”
That worried you ten times more.
Why couldn't she just tell you what the hell was going on? Why did she now have to make it such a mystery, too?
She sat down next to you as you did what she asked, the press conference starting any second.
“This day must have been draining for you. I'm very sorry about that.”
“I just wish I would know what the hell is going on..”
“You're about to find out,” she straightened her back when her brother appeared on TV.
He was dressed in his finest suit, looked as dashing as he always did, but.. a lot more stern than usual. Tonight, Taehyung looked less like a prince and more like a king.
You gulped down hard and prepared yourself mentally for him saying that he was going to marry someone else and that this fantasy of him and you was over before it could even really start.
“This is all very last minute, so please excuse me for not having a proper speech tonight, but I think you will forgive me,” he said with a charming smile, making the press in the room chuckle. He was a natural at this, “Some of you have already published articles throughout the course of the day about the rumors of Princess Dae and I possibly getting married after all. Now, I want to make it very clear.. these are rumors.”
You let out a sigh of relief and leaned forward, burying your face in your hands.
But you didn't get a break.
You never got a break here.
His sister softly brushed her hand up and down your back until you were looking at her.
“He'd never hurt you, (Y/N),” she whispered.
“What do you mean?” you asked, your voice laced with confusion
“I mean.. he loves you too much to lose you.”
And as your eyes widened at the word love, you turned your head back to the TV, just in time to hear Taehyung say: “You have all been so kind in the support of my fiancé, the future princess and queen (Y/N). I could not be more grateful to you all. Especially in times such as this one.”
You got up on your feet, his sister trying to pull you back, but you just kept walking forward with furrowed eyebrows until you were right in front of the screen.
“I am hereby announcing that my fiancé, future princess (Y/N) and I, are expecting a child.”
Well.. when the fuck did that happen?

------
You don't fancy night flights. At all. Sitting in a cramp seat with little leg room for hours on end and waking up to sore shoulders and dry eyes was not the ideal way for you to spend the day leading up to Christmas. But...here you were anyways, trying your best to get comfortable in your seat with your bag nestled between your feet. You send one last selfie to your cousin as a rain check, letting her know that you’re safe on the flight, and that she should expect you in a few hours’ time.
You lift your eyes to observe the hustle and bustle of the aircraft as the crew gets the passengers ready for take-off; securing the overhead cabin, handing out hot towels and attending to the comfort of the passengers. You would have enjoyed this all a lot more if it wasn’t a night flight. You watch as an air steward makes his way down the aisle to do his final check, before stopping right beside you and addressing you fully in Korean. You gulp as he carries on talking, finding it hard to grasp a opportune timing to interject and let him know that you don’t understand a single thing he just said. You have zero knowledge on the Korean language and the best you could manage to convey your lack of understanding was to shake your head at the air steward.
Very slowly, you said, “Sorry, I don’t understand anything...”
You bow your head apologetically as a sheepish smile makes its way into your face and the air steward matches your equally puzzled expression as he sucks in a breath, a little lost as to how to proceed when he couldn’t communicate with you in a language that you understood. A few more moments lapse as both of you stare at one another, the silence now heavy and awkward.
Just then, a soft voice comes directly behind you and you feel your chair tilt backwards slightly, most likely being used by the person behind to hoist himself up. You cannot comprehend whatever the fellow passenger said (in Korean once again) but it must be good news to the steward as he immediately bows, a smile breaking out on his face, stepping back to invite the fellow passenger to take the spot beside him. You look up to observe the tall guy from your seat and you were met with pretty almond shaped eyes that were gazing down at you, the sides of his eyes crinkling slightly as the corners of his lips lift up; a small smile as a greeting.
“Hi, I hope you don’t mind me interjecting but I’m here to help as a translator since I assume you don’t speak Korean and the air steward is having a hard time explaining due to the language barrier. May I?”
“Please do, and thank you.”
After listening to the air steward for a short while, the mysterious male breaks out into a smile as you continue watching both of them in bated breath; did you do something wrong? Were you about to be kicked off the flight?
Your fellow passenger turns his attention towards you now, a warm smile lighting up on his face as he rests his clasped hands on the seat in front of you.
“Miss, there’s nothing to worry about. He just needs you to place your bag in the overhead compartment for the take-off.”
“Oh… oh! Right, of course.”
You scramble to unbuckle your seat belt so that you could stand to place your bag in the overhead compartment, not wanting to bother the air steward and your fellow passenger any longer. Yet, he immediately reaches out for you with his hands, keeping you in your seat as you lift your eyes from the dull grey of the seat buckle to meet his chocolate brown eyes again.
“I’ll help you, since I’m already standing.”
He gently extricates your bag from its place near your foot before placing it carefully into the overhead compartment, shutting it gently with a click.
“Enjoy your flight!”
“You too.”
Your eyes follow him as he makes his way back, and you stay staring at him for a couple of seconds more as he settles back into his seat, your breath catching in your throat as you contemplate getting his name so that you can thank him properly. But your shy nature eventually wins over and you shut your mouth tightly, turning back to face the unlit black screen of the in-flight entertainment system. The screen lighting up to life pushes the last lingering thoughts of the helpful and friendly passenger out of your mind, bringing your attention back to the safety video currently playing on the small screen.
---
You wake up just in time to see the hazy orange cabin light up brightly with white lights as the captain makes the landing announcement and you see the same air steward walk down your aisle again to do a safety check. When you catch his eye, you bow your head slightly, your face heating up slightly from the embarrassment just a few hours ago. The landing and disembarking proceeds smoothly and on your way out of the aircraft, you get your first good glimpse at Seoul. The sun is shining brightly onto the grey concrete tarmac of the airport runway and staff continue to rush around to ensure a smooth flight – even more during the holiday season. Despite the early morning, the sun never misses its shift and continues to shine its radiant rays onto Earth, warming the cold Seoul in winter just slightly. The streaks of sunlight are so brightly that even through the tinted windows, you were forced to squint your eyes to protect your eyes from the glare, and you eventually had to rip your eyes away from the sun, white spots dotting your vision now.
Soon, you found yourself walking past the glass walls of Incheon Airport’s arrival gates and very quietly, you whispered to yourself – “Welcome to Seoul Y/N.”
Eyes glued to your phone screen and luggage in tow, you hadn’t realised that you had walked into someone, rising your head to quickly apologise – but – you didn’t have time to get a word in before the person you bumped into immediately started selling his taxi services to you. You shook your head politely to decline but let’s just say that he was rather… persistent… You were almost about to give up and just follow him but a presence stepping up to stand beside you stopped you in your tracks, your focus now on the newcomer.
It’s him again.
After another round of fluent Korean, the taxi driver finally got the hint to back off and he immediately turned his attention to the next potential customer, leaving you to deal with the friendly stranger from the flight once again.
“You weren’t really about to take the taxi, were you?”
An embarrassed smile shows on your face for him to see in plain sight as you shake your head at yourself, finding it hard to meet his eyes.
“I really was. If you had came a moment later, I would be on the taxi now.”, you said as you jabbed a thumb towards the black sedan parked just a few metres away.
“It’s really expensive if you take a taxi from the airport to the city. I know a cheaper way and I could guide you if you’d like me to. Where are you headed for?”
“Myeongdong!”
“Oh! What a nice coincidence, I’m headed there too. Here, I’ll lead the way but, ladies first.”
With an open palm, he gestured to the escalator on his right. With a soft smile and slight bow of your head, you took a step in that direction and he soon fell into a comfortable pace beside you, initiating conversation again.
“I still haven’t gotten your name yet.”
“Y/N, it’s Y/N. What’s yours?”
“Younghyun or Brian – I’m fine with both so take your pick.”
“Well then, Younghyun, thank you for helping me out. Twice.”
“No problem! First time in Seoul Y/N?”
“Yup, here since my cousin recently moved with her family and as part of her housewarming plus annual family Christmas gathering, she invited the entire family over to celebrate.”
“You came during the right season – every city always seems more magical in winter, and especially so during Christmas. Puts everyone in a good mood, mostly.”
“I agree with you on that.”
Eyes glancing down, Younghyun catches sight of both yours and his luggage and he chuckles, catching your attention.
“What’s so funny?”
“I just realise that we have the exact same luggage, it’ll be really funny if we mix them up later.”
Swatting your hands in front of your face, you make a face as you exclaim, “Nah we won’t, let’s not jinx ourselves!”
“I shouldn’t have said that.”
Younghyun pats his cheeks as a “punishment” and you have to stifle your laughter behind your palm because that was such an adorable sight to see. Both of you continued your walk and even during your short walk to the airport express, you could already feel the Christmas vibes. Christmas songs were playing over the public announcement system and almost every inch of wall or glass was covered in colourful Christmas decorations. Wherever your eyes wandered, you’ll catch a glimpse of the familiar fern green as cherubic Santa’s and cute deer nestled within them, the colourful Christmas bulbs and fairy lights serving as the final pieces, completing the decorations to truly bring forth the festive season. The warm fairy lights bathe Younghyun in a golden glow, making the mood very comfortable and soon, both of you were engaging in conversation with ease. You managed to find out that he was home for the holidays, being a foreign student studying overseas in Canada for his undergraduate degree. His days are mostly packed meeting friends and family that he hasn’t seen but he’s given himself some free days to explore the city that must have changed since he’s been away. You try extra hard to focus on Younghyun as he attempts to speak louder over the roar of the train travelling through the underground tunnel, going closer sometimes just to hear him speak. The train rattles violently just before it exits the tunnel with an extremely loud whoosh and in a split second, sunlight floods the entire cabin, lighting up everything instantly, bringing Seoul and all its colours into sharp clarity. Your attention on Younghyun is broken as Seoul’s cityscape vies for your attention – your eyes are naturally drawn to the buildings coming in various shapes and colours, bare trees – though void of leaves – that line the pavements as they continue to stand tall. All of these zoom by before you can fully take in their details, your eyes capturing brief glimpses into the lives of Seoulites – children dressed in the same colour code obediently following their teachers, elderly walking their pets, and adults still rushing to work despite the frigid winds that are currently ruffling their hairs and outfits. You could almost hear the familiar click of heels against the tarmac in your head. As you continue admiring Seoul with your sparkling doe eyes, Younghyun leans his head against the metal pole of the cabin, silently observing you with a sweet smile, thinking to himself: I’d love to show her around the city. It’ll be a privilege to see her face shine with awe at this city.
You sneak a glance at him from your periphery, feeling the slow burn of his gaze on you. Nervously, you let out a chuckle as your voice dropped to a whisper, “Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my face? Must be the flight, my skin is dull and dry now.”
“No, you look fine Y/N. It’s just really nice seeing you enjoy Seoul so much.”
After hearing his statement, you crack a smile as you shyly meet his eyes, glad that he wasn’t staring just because you looked ugly and you watch as Younghyun gives you a grin so radiant that it could rival the blazing sun – showing neat rows of teeth and all.
---
The Myeongdong stop arrives much too quickly for either of your liking and the pair of you had to drag your feet out of the train carriage, both equally reluctant to leave the other. Younghyun wrecks his brain for more ways to buy time with you and even though the solution he comes up with is one that is so extremely cliché, it’s the only thing he can do.
“Hey Y/N, are you in a rush?”
“No, not really, why?”
“How about we get drinks? Neither of us has eaten anything since the flight.”
“Sure. What place do you have in mind?” You reply him almost immediately, and you had hoped dearly that he didn’t catch onto your overly enthusiastic response.
“Holly’s Coffee. It’s a chain store in South Korea, thought you might like to give it a try. Consider it a beginner’s introduction to Seoul.”
“I would love to.”
And that’s how you found yourself in a neat coffeeshop with a handsome black wooden décor, the smell of peppermint, roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate all blending to form a sweet smell and adding to the homely vibe of the place. You watch the Styrofoam “snow” rain all over the snowman in the decoration on display right beside the cashier, completely mesmerised by the neat white beads falling down in unison. You feel a light tap on your shoulder, turning your head to be met by Younghyun’s eyes.
“What would you like?”
“Oh! Oh gosh I completely forgot to order, sorry about that. I’ll have the peppermint mocha please.”
“Really getting into the festive season now huh?”
“Yup! I truly do love Christmas.”
“Me too.”
You’re about to open your mouth to make another comment but your phone buzzing in your pocket steals your attention away from Younghyun again.
[Mom]: Where are you? Your cousin is asking for you already.
[Y/N]: Holly’s Coffee in Myeongdong grabbing a drink. I’ll make my way to her apartment later.
[Y/N]: Sent live location
[Mom]: Your cousin says she’ll come and get you. Order your drink as a takeaway.
You chew your bottom lip, feeling conflicted at the sudden news. You felt bad leaving Younghyun alone, but you also knew that the rest of the family was probably waiting for you to start the party.
“What’s got you looking so nervous?”
“Sorry Younghyun, but my cousin is coming to pick me up so I don’t think I’ll be able to sit and talk. I’m really sorry at the sudden change of plans…”
Younghyun wasn’t going to lie – his heart sunk at the thought of you having to leave so early as disappointment thrummed within him like a dull ache. Yet, he didn’t want to make you feel any worse than you already did so he gave you a big smile, just to let you know that it’s really alright.
“Hey no worries, I knew you were here for a party so I assume the entire family is waiting now.”
“Most likely…”
“Don’t frown, it’s really alright! Smile a bit.”
Using his index fingers, Younghyun gently pushes the corners of your lips up, only retracting his hands with an even larger grin gracing his face when he finally sees you crack a smile. The barista calls for your number and the right at the moment when the cold drink reaches your hands, chilling your freezing hands further, you hear the jingle of the doorbell and the familiar call of your name by your cousin.
“Y/N! Let’s go!”
You whip your head back to look at Younghyun all flustered, not expecting your cousin to arrive so soon which gave you much lesser time with him. You couldn’t even give him a proper goodbye or exchange numbers, not with your cousin standing expectantly by the door, waiting for you. Likewise, Younghyun faced the same struggle. Your cousin was standing and waiting by the door – does he make her wait longer as he gets your number? Or let you go now with a quick goodbye? He doesn’t consider for long and he lets instinct take over, going with the latter. Snaking an arm around your shoulders, Younghyun pulls you in gently into his side – a quick half hug as a parting greeting. Albeit shocked, you quickly recovered your senses to drape an arm around his waist, drawing him close by hooking onto his waist.
“Bye Y/N, it was great meeting you and enjoy your Christmas party!”
“Bye Younghyun and you too! Erm… whatelsedoiwanttosay… all the best for your studies in Canada and enjoy your trip home! See – ”
You catch yourself just before the word slips out of your mouth – were you ever going to ever see him again? Thankfully, Younghyun doesn’t seem to have heard, and the conversation flowed naturally again.
“I will.”
You quickly detach yourself from his side, cheeks burning now, aware that your cousin is watching this interaction with a teasing glint in her eyes. You’ll have to deal with that later in the car but for now – you content your heart by taking one last good glance at Younghyun’s face, not knowing if you’ll ever see him again. Hands clasping onto the cold drink tightly, you turn around to face your cousin, wheeling your luggage behind you as you leave Younghyun behind. After you get strapped into the passenger seat and the car moves off down the streets of Seoul, the expected barrage of questions come from your mischievous cousin seated right beside you.
“So… who’s Mr Handsome? Spill the beans honey~”
“His name is Younghyun. Met him on the flight here and he also brought me safely to Myeongdong via the subway.”
“OHHH~ Love is – ”
“No no, don’t get your hopes up in the air, nothing is going to happen. I’m just a tourist in this land.”
“You never know~”
You roll your eyes at her statement, she’s still ever the idealist with her head up in the clouds, dreaming of the impossible. But – why – does your heart sink a little when you shot down her idea of getting together with Younghyun? Were you really considering dating him when you had just met with no way to contact him? You stare at your open hand as you contemplate that thought – the same hand that wrapped around Younghyun’s waist just minutes ago – and warmth floods your cold body in gentle waves as your fingertips tingle, sending a light shiver down your arm. Your chance encounter with such a bright and friendly individual made the cold frigid winter warmer now.
If fate will allow, let’s meet again Younghyun.
---
You collapse onto the bed in the guestroom face first, not minding the fact that you were still wearing the same dirty clothes for the past 24 hours. A long flight, being passed around from relative to relative for small talk and a couple of glasses of beer, wine and dessert wine later, you were all ready to pass out. Blinking your eyes to clear away the tears from your umpteenth yawn that night (or should you say morning), you catch sight of your turquoise luggage. Leaving it unpacked was irking you out, so with much effort and a loud groan, you pushed yourself out the bed before shuffling over to unpack your luggage. When you first opened the luggage, you didn’t think much of the contents until you began pulling out clothing that were much too big for your body.
Did my clothing magically expand?
Flipping on the room lights, you finally were able to get a good view of the contents and your eyes widened to the size of saucers, eyeballs nearly popping out of your sockets. The luggage was full of male articles – belts, sweaters, pants and a shaver all sitting in plain view further confirmed your suspicions – you had really switched luggage’s with Younghyun; likely on accident during your haste to leave the coffeeshop. You immediately sifted around his clothing, searching for any way to contact him and – thank the heavens! – you found a small piece of paper in one of the zipped compartments bearing his name and number. You dialled the number quickly with nimble fingers, chewing on your nails nervously as you brought the phone up to your ear, desperately hoping that he had not changed his number. After 2 rings, the call finally got through and you breathed a sigh of relief.
“Hi, this is Y/N, right?”
“Yes. Younghyun?”
“Yes, you got the right man. I was wondering when you’ll call me about the luggage mix up.”
“Sorry it took me so long, I only realised now as I unpacked. When would it be a good time to meet tomorrow? Or do you need the luggage now?”
“Tomorrow would be fine – I rather not have a lady like yourself travelling the streets alone at such a late timing. Where would it be a good place to meet you?”
“Oh, I was planning to tour Apgujeong, would that be alright for you?”
“Apgujeong sounds good! Does 12pm sound good?”
“That sounds fantastic, thank you Younghyun.”
“Welcome Y/N. Rest well, you sound tired.”
“You’re absolutely right. Have a good rest too Younghyun. Nights.”
“Nights Y/N.”
A few more silent moments pass over the phone, neither of you wanting to be the first to end the call. You hear his slow and steady breathes over the phone and it sounds calming. A sense of peacefulness washing over you, a welcome respite from the whirlwind of activity that you’ve experienced today. Your eyelids start to flutter close, and you think you might be able to fall asleep listening to the sound of his breathing if the call drags on any longer. Younghyun finally breaks the silence with a chuckle, his next words bringing to mind the conversation from earlier today.
“I really jinxed us, didn’t I?”
“Jinx is too strong a word, I’ll just say you accidentally spoke it into existence.”
“I really did, silly me. So… goodbye for now?”
“Goodbye – for now.”
Younghyun ends the call first and you’re left listening to the dial tone before you put down the phone, placing your head in your unoccupied hand as you chuckle to yourself. Fate really does have a sense of humour, bringing such a twist to your wish to see Younghyun again. Glancing to the open luggage beside you, you sigh at yourself for making a mess of his belongings, standing up to pack his clothes neatly. Lifting one of his coats up, a piece of paper flutters out of the black pocket and upon closer inspection, you realise that it’s a ticket – for the lighting festival at the Garden of Morning Calm. Dated for 27th December. The date and place sparks off a thought within you that has you scrambling for your wallet, lifting the ticket out to confirm. You bring both tickets up to the light to compare them side by side, you realise that you were right – Younghyun and you had brought tickets to the same event on the same day. You didn’t know what you should do with this new-found information but if you could be brave tomorrow… something good might blossom.
You tuck both your tickets neatly into your wallet, praying for the heavens to grant you some bravery tomorrow.
---
Ever since 11.50am, Younghyun had been waiting outside the Apgujeong station, nervously tapping his feet against the pavement. He doesn’t know why he’s so nervous to see you again, but a part of him was also happy that he got to meet you again – although he wished it had been under better circumstances. A soft tap on his shoulder brings him out of his thoughts, and the moment his eyes land on you – the one he has been thinking of since yesterday – his cheeks naturally lift up, showing off the round apples of his cheeks. He blinks earnestly, taking a good look at you. Your cheeks are tinted a soft rosy pink – most likely from the cold – and you’re wrapped in a beanie, scarf and winter coat that made you look like a snug and warm dumpling. Younghyun has to try his hardest to stifle the squeal that threatens to escape him because of how absolutely adorable you look. How can someone have such an influence on him when he barely knows you? Your cheeks change from pink to red under his adoring gaze and wanting to no longer be the centre of attention, you whip out his luggage from its hidden spot behind yourself before presenting it to him with a “Tadah!” Younghyun lets out a hearty laugh at your antics – can someone get any cuter than this?
“I made sure to pack everything neatly into your luggage, nothing will be amiss when you open to check today.”, you said, patting his luggage to emphasise your point.
“Aigoo, thank you for packing them neatly for me. Rest assured, your things are in good condition too. How was the party?”
“Oh, not too bad – the usual you know. Being passed around, getting questioned about life and my relationship status, and too many cups of alcohol. I’m still a little woozy now, not sure if you can tell.”
Younghyun makes a hum of acknowledgement at your words before silence falls over both of you again – this needs to stop happening so often.
What do I say to her?
Do I ask him now?
Aish let’s just do it now!
Both of you open your mouths at the same time, then it became a mad scramble to let the other speak first.
“Ladies first.”
“No no, you first!”
“Y/N.”
“Younghyun.”
Both of you fix the other with a pointed gaze but Younghyun eventually relents, going first.
“Ok ok, I’ll go first. Y/N, could I get your number? Just to… stay in contact you know?”
“Sure.” You sound confident with your swift answer but your shaky hands that take over the phone from his hands betray you and he watches as you punch in your numbers wrongly a couple of times, having to redo it again and again but he doesn’t mind – he gets to see a different side of you – albeit a clumsy one that he finds endearing. Once you’re done, you hand his phone back to him as he brings the conversation back to you.
“What about you? What did you want to say just now?”
Your face heats up instantly, the two thin tickets sitting in your wallet weighing a ton now as your palms start to sweat despite the freezing temperatures. Carefully, you take his ticket out and pass it back to him but you don’t let go, even when he’s holding onto it. Your tongue darts out to moist your lips, inhaling a deep breath to let the cool air numb your nerves and thoughts. If you didn’t think so much, you might be able to work out the guts to actually ask him. It’s now or never Y/N. Go for it!
“I realise that you’re also going for the lighting festival on the 27th. I am too… and I was just wondering if you would like to go together? It’s completely fine if you don’t want to – ”
“If you would like me to be there, I would be absolutely delighted to go with you.”
Your eyes widen at his statement – he was actually willing to go with you! Your eyes light up like the star on top of the Christmas tree, shining radiantly for him to see.
“For real? You’re not joking right?”
“No, I’m not. But I’ll go on one condition…”
“Oh… what condition?”
You wait in bated breath as Younghyun lowers his face towards, going so close that your noses are almost brushing.
“I get to call that a date.”
You let out a puff of laughter at his statement, the fog emitting from your mouth brushing over his lips as they pull back to reveal pearly whites behind that hazy curtain.
“Is that ok with you Y/N?”
“Yes, that’s alright with me. For a moment I got scared there, I thought you were going to ask me to give you my first born or something.”
“I would make a joke now but I’m afraid of scaring you away.”
“Come on, hit me with it.”
“Really, you don’t want to hear it.”
“Yes, yes I do want to hear it Younghyun.”
“Ok here goes, but don’t dump me after you hear it! I was going to say that you wouldn’t have to give me your firstborn because it would be ours anyways.” For good measure, Younghyun winks at you and your hands immediately fly to cover your face, trying your best to hide the massive blush that was now bursting across your face and muffle your rambunctious laughter.
“See! I said you didn’t want to hear it anymore! Are you afraid of me now? Come on, show me that pretty face please?”
His hands come up to gently wrap around your wrists, tugging at them softly until you’re willing to put them down.
“You’re not afraid of me now, are you Y/N? I’m still seeing you, tomorrow right?”
“No, just mildly shocked. But I must say, that was a pretty well-timed joke. And yes, you’re still seeing me tomorrow Younghyun. You’ll need more than that to scare me away.”
“That’s good. So… I’ll see you tomorrow then?”
“Yes, see you tomorrow.”
“I’ll call you again to settle the details.”
“I’ll be sure to pick up.”
It seems like the conversation has ended but once again, neither of you make the move to leave first. You shuffle your feet, twiddling your gloved fingers. Likewise, Younghyun was also working up the guts to do something that he’s been waiting to do since yesterday – but it’s just so hard to break through that barrier. You share one last shy glance with Younghyun before deciding it was time to leave, hands reaching out to grip the luggage handle – this time, the right luggage. Seeing you make a move to leave jolts Younghyun into action, and he surges forward to gently catch onto your wrists, pulling you back to face him once more.
“Before you leave, can I give you a hug? I want to do it properly this time.”
You smile as you nod, opening your arms slightly to let him and this time, Younghyun’s arms wrap around your shoulders properly, bringing you close against his chest as your hands hang onto each side of his waist.
Softly, he whispers into your ear, “See you tomorrow Y/N.”
“See you too Younghyun.”
Despite exchanging greetings, his and your hands still remain locked around the other, both of you gently swaying together as the first snow falls over Seoul, the perfect start to your winter love story.

connect the dots [sirius black]
summary: it’s YOUR chair. regardless of the fact that you found him sleeping there, for merlin’s sake, it’s yours. neither he, nor james seems to understand that. remus is an accidental wingman, lily is there to help, and peter just wants everybody to be friends.
word count: ~2200
a/n: (thats pretty fuckin ironic peter pettigrew u stupid swine) ANYWAY KIDS WHATS UP I LOVE ALL THE MARAUDERS EQUALLY???? but i have an especially soft spot for sirius and remus and james.... hmm.... (especially ben barnes as sirius and andrew garfield as remus but shhh) anyway ik i have a shit ton of requests to do but here i am, master procrastinator, back with more procrastination works! i had an impulse okay. y’all should be thanking me for this insight on snogging sirius black bc i know i’m thanking myself tonight
The seat by fire in the Gryffindor common room has always been yours. You’ve never sat anywhere else - you like that seat most of all. It’s nearest the bookshelf, the fire, and it’s the comfiest chair in the entire common room.
And it’s occupied.
You stand before it, scowling, arms crossed. Sirius Black is… sleeping in your chair, a blanket draped haphazardly across his body. He’s even snoring a little.
(It’s very soft, but he is still snoring regardless. You wish there was some way to capture this and hold the memory over his head. Sirius Black, snoring?! How dreadful!)
Somebody clears their throat behind you. You turn around. James Potter stands with Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, the rest of Sirius Black’s little… friend group. James is smirking, hands stuffed into his pockets. Remus is smiling behind his hand, and Peter is just outright beaming, rocking back and forth on his feet.
“What are you looking for?” Grins James. He nods to the sleeping boy. “Isn’t he adorable? I love the face he makes while he’s sleeping, don’t you?”
You don’t say anything. You maintain eye contact with James for another half minute. In that half a minute, he doesn’t look away, doesn’t say anything else, doesn’t even blink. Remus has to wave a hand in front of your faces before you break the contact.
“Sorry, I was just thinking of ways to get my chair back,” you jab a finger at their friend, “from this monstrous parasite. Sneaking in the middle of night, falling asleep-”
“He didn’t mean to,” Remus sighs, moving forward towards his friend. “He was trying to study with me-”
“Moony, let him sleep,” James chuckles. He glances at you again. “He’s just so tired. Hasn’t slept in weeks. Terrible nightmares, that one.”
You falter, but give in a second later, rolling your eyes. “Fine, fine. I will let him sleep. But,” you point to each of them, including Sirius, “if he is not awake by the time I get back from the library, I will have his head. That threat goes for anyone who gets in my way.” With that, you storm away from them, huffing.
Peter calls after you, “Well… it is a common room chair, right?”
You ignore him and push open the Fat Lady’s portrait.
There’s a certain appeal to the boys, you guess, turning the page of your book. You aren’t reading the book; on the contrary, you’re watching their group from across the common room. When you returned, you found your chair empty. Sirius and his friends were nowhere to be found. You settled in, grabbing a random book off the shelf and cracking it open. Now, after a couple hours of peaceful silence, they’re back.
The appeal is small. James and Sirius are both similar, in the fact that they’re both insufferable. When you see James doing something annoying, the latter is usually by his side. Remus is sweet. You’ve spoken with him by himself more than once. You don’t mind Remus, especially if he’s away from the heathens he calls friends. You don’t really talk to Peter much; he’s… not shy, really, just… uninterested in you. You don’t care. The only person you’d want to talk to is Remus, anyway.
Too bad they’re all heading in your direction. James is grinning, Sirius smirking in a kind of way that, on a normal day, leaves every girl in his path shaking and yearning for more. He’s quite the ladies’ man, if you recall correctly. All your friends find him mouth-watering.
You close the book at their arrival. “Yes?” You say, frowning. Sirius steps forward, running a hand through his hair.
“So James was telling me how you were watching me sleep here earlier.”
You flush. “That’s a - James Potter. That is a lie. I was not watching you sleep, for Merlin’s sake-”
“I don’t know, that’s what I caught you doing, I think,” James laughs, pushing his glasses further up his nose. “I walked out and here she is, standing in front of you, just watching. Right, Peter, Remus?”
“Right,” Peter says. You look at Remus. He meets your gaze and, with an apologetic smile, nods.
Sirius shrugs. “I mean, I didn’t think you were the type to be so forward. If you fancy me, all you have to do is let me know.”
You turn even darker. “I do not fancy you! I was trying to decide whether or not to wake you up!”
He is rather attractive, you guess. He has nice hair, and he’s tall. Not as tall as James, but James is gangly, all long limbs. He isn’t scrawny, like Remus is a little bit. Nor is he shorter and stouter, like Peter. He has a rather nice body.
“I think she’s checking you out, mate, look-” James stage-whispers in Sirius’ ear. Sirius laughs and turns around, muttering something low to his friend. You can’t make it out. Instead, you get up, off the chair.
“I am l-leaving,” you scowl, setting the book down. “Take the stupid, bloody chair. It smells like you, anyway. You tainted it,” you knock into Sirius as you walk by, dropping your head so you stare at the floor.
James calls behind you, “Where are you going?”
“We’re just giving you a hard time, we’re just teasing-” Sirius groans. “Come back!”
You choose not to, instead going up the stairs and entering the girls’ dormitory, where you’re sure they cannot follow.
When you come out again, the only person in the common room is Remus. He is sitting at a table, writing what you can only assume is Slughorn’s potions essay due the following week. You look at him, wary. He looks up and looks at you, too.
“Are you going to make fun of me?” You ask.
Remus laughs, “Are you going to give me a reason to?”
“...No. I suppose not,” you sit in your chair, tucking your legs underneath your body. “What are you doing?”
Remus holds up his parchment, sighing. “Slughorn’s essay.”
“Thought so. It’s rough. Took me a full three hours to understand the concept,” you lean back and stretch, yawning as you do so.
“You understand it? I cannot get a single grasp on what we are supposed to write about,” he frowns. Then Remus glances above you, tilting his head up. You twist your body to look. Sirius Black himself is descending the staircase, cracking his knuckles. You chew on your lip, trying to decide whether to leave or stay. As soon as he sees you, he does a double take and grins.
“Hey, Moony. Hey, you,” he winks, turning to his friend. “D’you reckon you can give me a hand with the essay, mate? I don’t get what we’re supposed to write.”
Remus smiles. He nods to you. “I don’t, either. But she does.”
Your eyes widen. Not Remus! No, you trusted him! What a good thing that turned out to be.
Remus seems to sense your irritation and signals screaming ‘TRAITOR!’. He rises from his seat, motioning to it. “I have something to attend to. Will you help Padfoot with his essay? Please?”
Sirius looks at you and sends the same puppy-dog look Remus is giving. They’re both extraordinarily good, you admit begrudgingly. You scowl, crossing your arms over your chest.
“I don’t know why I am about to do this, but sure, fine.”
“Thank you!”
“I might not fail Slughorn’s class!” Sirius whoops, high-fiving Remus. While the latter gathers up his supplies, you get up and head for the stairs. “Wait, where are you going?”
“To get my notes so I don’t mess this up,” you explain, ascending the staircase. You make for your dorm room and grab your notes from your bag. When you get back to the common room, Remus is gone and Sirius is sitting in your chair. You arch a brow. “Up.”
He shoots you an innocent expression. “What? Why?”
“I’m helping you with your essay, Sirius, at least let me sit-”
“But it’s so comfortable here,” he smirks. “If you really want to, you could always sit on my lap.”
“I want a comfortable seat, Black,” you deadpan.
Sirius shrugs. “Your choice. My lap, or you can pull up a chair.”
Alright. If he isn’t going to get up, you might as well take him up on the offer. You know he isn’t expecting you to say yes. Therefore, the best plan of action is to agree and make him uncomfortable.
“Okay. I’ll sit on your lap.”
The smirk fades away for a second. He stammers out a, “Wh-what?”
“Hey, you offered. I don’t want to pull up a chair.”
The same sly look is back after that. He nods, stretching out. “Right, right. A lady like you deserves the best seat in the house, after all.”
If blushing could be prevented, you would’ve seemed totally cool and at ease. Contrarily, blushing is inevitable. So, with reddened cheeks, you climbed onto his lap, your body fitting in between his… rather well, actually. You end up not actually sitting on his lap, but in between his legs. You’re small enough to where he can rest his chin on the top of your head. Therefore, of course, he does.
“Okay…” you gather your notes together and take a deep breath, attempting to un-fluster yourself.
Sirius chuckles. You feel his body move behind you, shifting to help you fit better. “Nervous?” He moves so his mouth is right next to your ears. “There’s no need to be nervous. You’re just showing me… potions notes.”
“I hate you,” you whisper, face hot.
“What was that?”
“I said I hate you-”
“Do you?” Sirius moves his mouth closer to your ear. His breath hitting your skin causes bumps to raise along your arms, which you try to remove by pulling your long sleeves over your hands. “Do you hate me? I don’t hate you.”
“Sirius-”
“In fact, I rather like you. I think you’re very attractive.”
“Sirius,” you breathe, tilting your neck to the side. His hands move from his sides to your arms, sliding along the length of them to land on your shoulders. “What are you doing? I’m supposed to be showing you these notes-”
He chuckles again. His lips are so close to your body you shiver involuntarily. “If you actually wanted to study, would we be in this position?”
“I actually sat here to prove a point, but-” you’re interrupted by the feeling of his lips on your neck. You arch your back and tilt your neck more, letting out a sharp exhale while doing so. “Merlin-”
“That’s not my name, babe.”
You glare, rolling your eyes. “You are completely insufferable.”
He only hums, kissing your neck again. One hand goes to tangle in your hair, the other wraps around your stomach to push your back into his hard chest. You sigh. What harm will come to this? Sure, he’s annoying and arrogant and completely terrible, but he’s also extremely attractive. And if he claims to like you, then you can’t really complain about this. It feels good. And the common room is empty aside from you two, so why the hell not?
You pull away, twisting your body so you’re facing him. He pushes his legs together, forcing you to straddle his body. You put one knee on either side of him and lower yourself onto his lap, for real this time. Sirius is grinning back at you, an arm behind his head.
“You’re hot,” he says.
You raise an eyebrow. “I’m hot? You’re the attractive one.”
“I know that much. Reckoned you should know, too,” he bites his lip and lowers his gaze to yours. “Are you gonna kiss me, or am I going to have to come to you?”
In answer to his question, you lean forward and press your mouths together. His touch immediately travels to your ass, cupping it to propel you forward. You breathe out as one hand explores the length of your body. Your fingers tangle in his long hair, lips moving against his slightly chapped ones. To your surprise, he doesn’t add tongue for a good few minutes. When he does, it’s only slightly, like he’s waiting for your approval.
Snorting, you give it, tangling it with his. Sirius lets out a small pleasing sound, deepening the kiss and leaning forward so much your back arches more than it’s probably supposed to.
If you’re being honest, you’ve snogged enough to know how to breathe during the kiss so you don’t have to break away. He, apparently, has as well; you don’t have to break away until you hear somebody clear their throat behind you.
You pull away and look over your shoulder. James is standing with his girlfriend, Lily, Remus, and Peter.
“I didn’t expect you to get this far,” Remus laughs, shaking his head.
James chuckles, wrapping an arm around Lily’s waist. “Having fun?”
Sirius grabs a pillow off the ground and chucks it at the crowd. “Get out of here, mate! I’m busy!”
You roll your eyes and turn back to Sirius. You whisper, “If we keep kissing, they’ll leave eventually.”
“I like that idea,” he replies just as soft, closing the gap between you two. Behind you, you hear a series of groans and an exaggerated, ‘eurgh!’
“Let’s leave them alone,” Lily giggles, followed by footsteps. You continue kissing until you hear the portrait swing shut. Then you break away and rest your forehead against his.
“Should we start on the potions assignment?” You ask.
Sirius shakes his head. “Nah, we still have another week. Here, let’s keep doing this…” And with that, he tangles a hand in your hair and continues sucking on your lip.
