Dungeon Meshi Chapter 54
I really love how the title image is frequently used to give us information on the world. Infodumping in-universe always runs the risk of making some characters seem stupid when they don't know something that everyone should know.

The dungeon was probably at maturity level 2 when Laios worked for the gold-peelers and was level 3 at the start of the series. Maybe Kabru's party finding a treasure box with actual jewels along with the treasure insects in chapter 10 was the first sign that the dungeon was shifting to level 4 maturity.
Panic sweeps across the first floor as everyone tries to escape from the dungeon! What sort of dangerous threats could Kabru, Namari, and Shuro have to face!?
Oh no!
Anyway...
Walking mushrooms being mixed into the crowd actually makes this shot really funny.
Oh no! (For realsies this time)
No mention what those spores did. Did everyone become mind-controlled zombies? Was that giant mushroom a cordyceps variant?!
The characters Pattadol used in her incantation are completely different from what Marcille uses. If I remember correctly, Marcille's magic is the gnomish school, so this is probably elven.
She also turned her fairy into a staff. It doesn't seem to like when she does it and it's dizzy when she changes it back.
A few more names are dropped. The Canaries' captain is Mithrun and the short-haired elf is Otta.
This is when Mithrun realized he can use Kabru to help spot the Dungeon Lord in the crowd.
There's no way this was intentional. Mithrun just chose a random distance below and it just happened to be the water level. He was probably hoping the mushroom would have ended up in open space. All this water might be helpful washing off the spores that are in the room at least.
You can see the fishman inside the water before it breaks apart.
So far, Mithrun has appeared very dispassionate. So this panel sticks out a lot since he's genuinely shocked. His eye also changed color in this and the panel he punched the giant mushroom.
Most of the characters in this series have bright eye colors so I can't find any other instances of someone's eyes turning pale in an emotional state. Mithrun's eyes doing that kind of stood out to me.
Wonder if Mithrun has ever done this to himself before.
Teleporting himself and Kabru to the top of the pillar is the first time Mithrun's actually used teleportation on himself so far in the series. And he was gripping onto Kabru when he did it. So I want to guess that he cannot actually teleport himself directly, but he can teleport himself as an accessory to something else he's trying to teleport.
I want to point out that he asked Otta to make a walkway for him to get above the first giant mushroom instead of teleporting himself. Granted, it could just be because that specific use-case might have been too disorienting, but I want to say it implies Mithrun can't teleport himself freely.
Momentum stays when teleporting. Kabru tried to back away when Mithrun teleported them and he nearly fell off the pillar as a result.
Thistle is in the second group shot when Kabru starts looking for him. One of the other people has been smashing mushrooms with a hammer.
This lady is holding a mushroom like a baby.

The dungeon lords extra makes me wonder how many dungeon lords actually go on to survive.
On the one hand, the canaries seem specialised to and fully willing to kill the dungeon lord -
but they do begin with negotiations - not only with marcille, who meets them before she actually becomes the dungeon lord, but with thistle too.
I mean, he does intend to kill him (sending him to the surface where the dungeon's magic would expire and he'd die) but that's more of a side effect of the fact thistle is only keeping himself alive with the dungeon's magic.
In most cases, once the demon has got to you negotiations won't work, especially from an outsider who the demon can honestly tell you is going to kill you if you don't comply! So how did these guys survive? Did the canaries subdue them or talk them down?
the sticking point for me is that the canaries seem to jump straight to lethal force if the negotiations fail, but perhaps that's only because the Island dungeon is at such a late stage?

Maybe LV.1 - LV.3 dungeon lords can be dealt with less urgently, though I get the impression the canaries have a hard time accessing them if they aren't on elven land - the benefits outweigh the risks for whichever polity they're in.
anyway, i wonder about some of the stories of the dungeon lords we don't see. like whoever the demon consumed to destroy utaya. what did they want? what were they like? to get such a huge amount of desire and be able to break free, they must have had a deep-rooted and complex desire.
