Whenever reading or watching newer shoujo mangas, I am always wondering if the mangaka are fruba fans and the character names are homage to fruba or if it is just like a completely normal japanese name that's just too common.
like with horimiya, it HAS to be fruba homage because there are literally characters named tohru, yuki and kyoko (that's the main friend group); that can't be a coincidence right?? now watching 'my little monster' and there's a woman who dies early but was an amazing mother figure to this guy who is a bit of a trouble-maker and he keeps saying that someone taught him this and that and saying very wiseTM words and her name is KYOKO??? like that is clearly fruba kyoko honda homage right?? RIGHT?
