I recently had an epiphany about the mannequins in Prey. So. For the longest time I wondered where the hell did the idea for Hugo's mannequin girlfriend come from? Like what on earth made Moench put something like that in the story? How do you come up with such a random and out there headcanon like that? I think I know now.

So let's look at the time line: Batman #356 ”The Double Life of Hugo Strange” (1983) Gerry Conway writes a story wherein Hugo creates perfectly lifelike robots of Alfred and Dick and uses them to fuck with Bruce's head. Batman annual #10 ”Down to Bone” (1986) Doug Moench writes a story wherein Hugo, among other things, uses his robots to fight Bruce and Jason. He has also now made a robot version of himself. Last Pre-Crisis Hugo story. Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #11-15 (1990-1991) Doug Moench writes a story wherein Hugo, among other things, uses mannequins of Thomas and Martha Wayne to fuck with Bruce's head. First Post-Crisis appearance of Hugo and also an edgy reimagining

Are we noticing a pattern? It's honestly a little embarrassing how long it took me to realize that Hugo fucking with Bruce with the mannequins in Prey is all copy pasted from Double Life of Hugo Strange. Moench just re-used Conway's idea, but made it fit the Post-Crisis universe better by having the robots be mannequins with tape recorders inside, because everything had to be sooooooo realistic back then. So if the mannequins of Martha and Thomas are just the robots of Dick and Alfred, who is the mannequin girlfriend? Here's my best guess:

So, Moench used the robots himself in Down to Bone, even created a new robot type – a Hugo robot. Now, we don't see Hugo having a robot girlfriend in Down to Bone, but would you really find it out of the realm of possibility that the thought might have crossed Moench's mind while writing? I mean, look at Hugo around this time. He used to have a good amount of people around him during the 70s and earlier. He had thugs like any self-respecting supervillain, he had his monster men, he once formed a partnership with a racketeer and most importantly he had Magda in Englehart's run. Then suddenly in the 80s he has nothing but robots. Incredibly lifelike robots that talk to him and laugh at his jokes. Doesn't that sound lonely? Now, I will eventually write a post about all my headcanons for what happened to Hugo around this time, because I think about this every day, but to stick to the topic at hand – would you really find it out of the realm of possibility that Moench looked at this profoundly lonely man who could build perfectly lifelike robots and thought, why doesn't he make himself a robot girlfriend? Of course the time wasn't quite ripe yet for a story like that during Pre-Crisis, but during the edgy grimdark 90s? Oh boy, was it time! All he had to do was to turn her from a robot into a mannequin and there we go. Anyway, what do you guys think? I cannot peer inside Moench's mind, of course, but I think my theory is possible.

Also, this is now off topic, but I wanted to talk a little more about Down to Bone and Prey. I used to think these stories, these takes on Hugo, could not be further apart despite being written by the same man, but after reading Down to Bone again for this post and having read Prey again a few months ago, I no longer think so. You can see so much of Prey in Down to Bone and so much Down to Bone in Prey. I already talked about the mannequins, but another thing that I just now noticed was the use of media. As we know, Hugo affectedly used media to fuck with Bruce and to smear Batman's name and you know what he threatened to do in Down to Bone?

Yeah! I find it interesting that Moench had this idea of Hugo using media against Batman way back here, but maybe the story just didn't have enough room for it given that it was only one issue long and most of the time was already spent on Bruce dealing with having lost all his money, home, Jason and Alfred. I'm glad that the smear campaign Hugo launched in Prey was given enough time. Another thing I wanted to talk about was Moench's bad takes on Hugo in Down to Bone. Hugo during Golden Age was about as generic a villain as you can get. Evil genius only after money and power yadda yadda. Listen. I'm not hating on it. It's a classic, but what I'm trying to say is that when Englehart had the divine revelation of giving this character an actual personality and then when Conway topped it all off by giving him an unique goal, I personally considered that an improvement. Moench did not apparently. In Down to Bone Hugo is right back to being a very generic villain. Englehart spent so long showing how much Hugo loved and respected Bruce. How he was willing to ”die” to protect his secret. It was interesting, it was heartwarming and it was fucked up. We see none of this in Down to Bone. The relationship between Hugo and Bruce couldn't be less interesting. There's literally nothing there. No love, no loyalty. Hugo straight up willingly tells Bullock Batman's real identity (which Bullock doesn't believe, of course.) Like what happened? And then the unique new goal Conway gave him? How he got it in his head he wants to be the Batman now? Yeah, you can kiss goodbye to that one too. Nowhere in Down to Bone does Hugo say he wants to become Batman. He only puts on the outfit to frame him. His only goal in Down to Bone was to get his revenge on Bruce. Boring. And to top it all off, just like in Prey, Moench decided to ignore Hugo's well established physical abilities. He doesn't even attempt to fight Batman, but rather runs away like a coward. And don't even get me started on Moench's worst crime of all which was to try to retcon my favorite Hugo story (The Double Life of Hugo Strange) by saying that the Hugo Bruce fought was actually a robot the whole time. I've been writing this for so long I don't even have the energy to go into why I hated this so much and why it was a pointless retcon, so I'll just leave it at this: IT WASN'T A FUCKING ROBOT.

Okay so basically uhmm I didn’t have much of a way to actually insert myself like I usually would 💀😭 I googled a time line so uhm- I was lowk kinda cooked but like 💀💀 I have to insert myself so I just kind decided to be extra with it 💀

So time travel is a funny thing?? How this happened I have not a clue. (I’d imagine Ray has a roommate or something who like practices magic or something I dunno 💀💀 I feel so cringe writing that but I’ve got nothing else. Also it just makes sense for Ray to have a roommate who practices magic since she makes potions and stuff like Yzma) so basically yea- uhm I’ll just explain this like a story I guess because there’s more to this guys LIKE A LOT NGL.

okay so Ray practices chem and zoology (she also makes potions) and her roomie (got no clue what to name her) accidentally makes a time traveling portal while Ray is reading up on a old book (for guess what?!? That’s right the poison- poison for kuzco- the Poison made specifically for kuzco- Kuzco’s poison okay I’ll stop 💀) but yea she’s reading up on those exact type of elixirs mostly out of curiosity (lowk wants to turn her professor into a Llama because he failed her on an exam 💀) but yea that happens they get transported back to when and where that book was written (I’m not worrying on the details because nuh uh- too much work)

But yea so Ray and her roomie are kind of adjusting to life trying to blend in. I really have no clue take with that what you will 😭😭 I got no idea it’s just an outline tbh.

How they became his advisor?? 💀 not a clue. I’d imagine most of the town’s people not only from Pacha’s village but all of them have at least bumped into her or heard of her (he stands out to much 💀) but most regard them as highly intelligent. And since Yzma got turned into a cat Kuzco’s been looking for a new advisor ever since then but hasn’t found the right pick. I’d also imagine a few of the town’s people had been suggesting her as a new advisor for a while but he never got to it until he started actually doing interviews and they showed up. And uhh well yea he sure did ace that interview!! (Kuzco just really likes talking to them lmaoo- they were literally like pretend bickering the entire interview they clocked his shit 💀 so off he had to hire him he can’t just have some boring old person be his advisor now he needs something fun of course!!)

as always I’m thinking about the Stede/Izzy/Ed dynamic and trying to figure out how they can still win. I started going through this in the notes of a post and realized I just wanted to talk about it lmao so here we are

I’m Okay. So here’s the thing. I am so pro steddyhands. Like frankly it’s a dynamic that I love and want to see more of and like. As more mentally healthy individuals I think they would be soooo unstoppable like actually peak romance and chaos. BUT they are. Not. Mentally healthy individuals like they are all so incredibly fucked up. And that is maybe a post for another time. Anyway so I have two ideas about the ideal plotlines for these three, which I call the realistic plotline, and the one that won’t happen but would be sooooooo gay plotline.

This post ended up being kind of long bc I talk a lot lmao so here’s a cut.

Even though I want in my heart a steddyhands endgame, Jenkins has said that the third season would (if greenlit) be the last, and that’s just not enough time to work out a well-written and satisfying romantic end for the three of them. Also, I just honestly don’t think steddyhands was ever in the cards for this show; it would just be way too messy idk. Realistically, I think we can definitely get an Izzy and Ed reconciliation, and we’re DEFINITELY getting stizzy bonding this season, so at the very least they’ll all be friendly going into the third. But this season is obviously about Stede and Ed learning to trust each other again and get to know each other better before they go back into romance. They have shit to work out and they’re clearly gonna be starting to do that in the next few eps.

I thinkkk the plan is for them to heal this season and actually figure out their feelings for each other bc let’s be so real, they were so fucking repressed in season one and had just BARELY realized they were in love before things went to shit. The third season will probably just be them becoming proper husbands and co-captaining and like fighting the British yippee. Cannot wait.

As for Izzy. Oh my god Izzy. Okay. So he’s sticking around for now. He’s been the only one looking out for his crew this whole time (and honestly I think he and Stede might bond over that. Stede kind of gives very few fucks about his crew but he values their lives and doesn’t WANT to leave them behind. Tbh breaking them out while also dealing with Ed’s death was just so insane of him and like. He’s gonna be such a good captain.) and anyway, we know he’s going to be teaching Stede pirate things. Not to mention that everyone loves Con so Izzy’s undoubtedly going to be hanging with the crew and keeping them organized while Stede and Ed fuck off on their bonding excursions.

My running theory for Izzy in season three is that he’s going to be captaining the Adventure. (For those who don’t know, the real life Blackbeard had the real Israel Hands captain that ship for a hot minute.) Izzy’s wanted to captain a ship for a long time, and I mean, he’s the Revenge’s captain in all but name at this point. So once he’s sure Ed and Stede and the crew aren’t going to set the Revenge on fire and accidentally kill themselves, he’ll go off to captain the Adventure and have his own healing journey during the third season. Hell get to figure out what it’s like to be out from under the shadow of Blackbeard, and like honestly it’ll be way less stressful and he’ll have a good time. Season three can cut between his adventures and the Revenges adventures, and the overarching plot will have all of them reunite in the latter third of the season (deus ex machina Izzy PLEASE). They’ll work together, have a final reconciliation where they all end on good terms, and either Izzy will go his own way as his own pirate captain, or he’ll decide that he’s grown and healed but he still likes working with New Ed and he stays on with the Revenge or they form a fleet with the Revenge and the Adventure and maybe another ship that shows up at some point in the third (I just feel like a fleet of two ships sounds stupid sorry). Maybe they’ll give Izzy a boyfriend in season three also. Like maybe it’s just me but I feel like getting laid would fix him.

I’m really, really excited for Stede and Izzy to get closer this season. Their little enemies to romantic rivals to still romantic rivals but they have bigger things to worry about to besties is just so real. And I think that them being closer is going to just bring this new balance and dynamic that we haven’t seen before.

So that’s the realistic plotline. Everyone ends up happy, we have pirate husbands, and no one dies except for the British. Onto my insane pipedream plotline also known as the outline for the fic I will probably never write.

Basically, it starts off quite similar to the above prediction for the rest of the show. The only caveat is, the show extends past three seasons. I don’t know that Jenkins will keep writing after the third, even if the response is huge, just because he seems really dedicated to telling the story properly, and unless he decides now that he wants to keep it going, a fourth or more season would mess up the pacing of the show, especially since the season three finale is supposed to the The Show Finale. But for the sake of this fic outline, let’s pretend we get as many seasons as we want.

I still think Izzy should captain the Adventure. Like I really firmly believe that his and Ed’s relationship cannot fully heal unless they part ways for a bit, and as an Izzy diehard I just want him to have fun without worrying about Ed 24/7. I want it to be light, though. Like mostly just him working out his shit with Ed and what he wants from his life going forward.

Meanwhile, Ed and Stede get to have their honeymoon phase on the Revenge. They’ll have a mostly functioning crew for once, and I also like the idea of them escaping the law or fucking up nobles. Like just really have a fuck the rich moment. Once again, it’s light. BUT I also want them to acknowledge that they miss Izzy. Like Ed will tell stories about the years he worked with Hornigold and how he fell in love with pirating and probably compare this new beginning with him and Stede to when he set out on his own captaining journey and as he reminisces and starts to get over the trauma he never really dealt with, he’ll realize just how much Izzy was always there for him, and he’ll regret how he treated him when Izzy was the person closest to him for so long. Also, generally seems to be leaning away from being a full pirate rn. Like he’s definitely starting to realize that there’s more that he wants out of life, which he’s going to have to balance with pirating being the more that STEDE wanted out of his life.

Meanwhile, Stede will have his pirating tricks that Izzy taught him, and while Ed has his own style and certainly lots of pirating experience, he’s already taught Stede a lot, and, quite frankly, he’s a terrible teacher. Like. We saw how the sword fighting lessons went. Izzy is going to be more effective, and I think he and Stede are going to have a lot of fun once Izzy realizes that Stede actually respects his advice and genuinely wants to improve. Like that’s going to be really good for them. But then Izzy leaves, and Stede’s left with not very many people to go to with advice or ideas. People that will critique him (mostly) fairly. Once again, Ed loves Stede, but he mostly just wants Stede to be happy, and he’s good just being on the sidelines watching his husband slay the pirate life. So Stede misses Izzy too.

So does the crew. Ed tends to view himself as quite separate from the crew, and while that’s subject to change, I don’t think he actually knows how to be a good captain? Like. Izzy has been doing his job for him for forever. Meanwhile, Stede cares about the crew’s well-being, but he really isn’t that close with any of them. He very much sees himself as their leader, and lets them do whatever the fuck they want as long as the ship isn’t sinking and they all get to do some good old fashioned raiding.

Izzy, on the other hand, spent a long time in the space between captain and crew. While he sees himself as part of the crew, he has a huge responsibility that inherently comes with being first mate and is further burdened by the weight of dealing with post-breakup Ed. He earns the respect of the crew when they see how much he takes on for them. “He’s our dick.” While Ed’s prestige intimidates crews into following him, and Stede initially bought a crew, Izzy earned the respect of his crew, and he proved to them that he cared about their lives and their well-being. So yeah, going back to the Ed/Stede co-captaining chaos means that the crew is going to miss Izzy.

Note here that I think the Adventure would already have a crew. I don’t know under what circumstance they’d need a new captain, but let’s imagine that that’s what’s happening here. I want Izzy to be fully out on his own, without any of the crew he’d had before. Our season one crew stays with the husbands. In my mind, Izzy meets a guy from the Adventure, they become besties, and then that guy invites Izzy to come be their captain bc the old one like died or whatever. New guy is Izzy’s first mate, and helps him work through some of the Issues.

And Izzy LOVES being captain. He likes the responsibility, he likes looking out for his crew, and he enjoys looting and fucking over other pirates and colonizers and it’s just a whole vibe for him. He’ll earn the respect of this crew as well. He prioritizes their lives over his own, and they genuinely enjoy working for him.

Here’s the thing, though. Being captain is lonely. He has his own quarters, which are pretty fucking sparse. He has a new crew, and while making his own name is good for his ego, no one on his new ship knows him the way his old crewmates did. And let’s be honest, while his crew enjoys working for him, he runs a tight ship. He’s abrasive. He’s brutally honest. He can be cruel. He’s fucking insane with a sword. Let’s not forget that this is a man who, unlike Ed and Stede (for now) very willingly murders. Izzy can be SCARY when he’s not running himself ragged trying to please and take care of and save the man he loved without getting the rest of his crew killed.

So. He’s not really bonding with the crew. They aren’t friends. They’re just a team of pirates who trust their very scary leader. He’s close with his first mate, at least, since that’s the buddy who brought him onto the Adventure. For the most part, the isolation isn’t bad. He’s allowed to reflect and grow and become more confident in himself. He realizes he’s his own person and not just Blackbeard’s guard dog.

Still, he finds that there are things he misses about the Revenge, so when Ed and Stede find themselves in a tight spot (with the British? I do think it would be so fucking funny if we had ANOTHER Badminton), Izzy doesn’t hesitate to come to their rescue. He saves the day, gets to talk a bit with the husbands, and they decide that while being separate was good, maybe traveling together is something they can do again. The Adventure joins the Revenge, and we end season three.

THEN in season four we get to see the three of them together again. Their time apart has helped ease tensions, but there’s still work to be done before we enter poly territory. So Ed and Stede are fully in a relationship, with Izzy on the outskirts. Izzy’s gotten over his blind devotion to Ed and has grown closer to Stede, and it’s comfortable, but sometimes still a bit weird.

Izzy’s (and by extension, Ed’s) past is coming back to haunt him in this season. People he thought he’d left behind show up, enemies he’s made are coming back for revenge, and he can’t deal with it all on his own. Ed and Stede have to help him through it, and they have his back the way he had theirs at the end of season three. Ed begins to realize that he didn’t know Izzy as well as he thought he had back when they were shipmates, and so they get to talk and properly discuss what went wrong between them (namely Ed’s dismissive attitude towards Izzy and Izzy’s inability to accept Ed as anything other than the Dread Pirate Blackbeard).

Stede and Izzy get to be Violent together while Ed stays behind and organizes the auxiliary wardrobe, and now that Stede has improved on his swordsmanship even more, they get to have a lot of fun. Bonding via murder, my beloved. They learn how to work as a team, which would just be SUCH a dynamic like gentlemen pirate plus rabid chihuahua? Nothing better.

Eventually, I think the Adventure would make its departure. Izzy’s first mate would become captain, and they’d part amicably. Izzy stays with the Revenge. With Ed and Stede. The three of them take meals together. Izzy is a co-captain in all but name, preferring to remain first mate as long as he gets a say in what they do and where they go. He loves working more with the crew again, and they’re more responsive to him than they’ve ever been.

And slowly but surely, they all realize their complicated feelings for one another. Secretly and without telling each other, obviously. Ed and Stede are both confused with themselves because they’re HAPPY they have and love each other, but they also both value their time with Izzy so, so much, and of course they can’t say anything to the other because then Ed will think Stede doesn’t want him anymore, or vice versa, and that’s not what’s happening.

Izzy is just so fucking confused bc he can tell that how he felt about Blackbeard hasn’t gone away, exactly, but something’s different. And when he and Stede are fighting together or preparing the next ambush or discussing plans for their next stop, it’s so fun. Fighting with Stede is like breathing in a way that fighting with Ed never was. So. What the fuck? But it doesn’t matter how he feels anyway because Ed and Stede are together and why would either of them ever want to replace the other with Israel (Basilica) Hands?

So while they’re each having an existential fucking crisis, the entire crew knows what’s going on, or they at least have realized that there’s something weird happening with Izzy and the captains, but it’s not bad the way it had been before. So there’s betting pools going on who’s fucking who and whether or not Ed and Stede will leave the other for Izzy or if they’ll all just end up being together.

And just as things are reaching a breaking point between the three of them (Izzy retreats from them both, snapping at them and refusing to open up the way he had been previously and yelling at the crew more than usual, Ed stops talking to anyone at all, preferring instead to do target practice with Jim, and Stede is throwing himself into one raid or project after another, staying up through the night until he can’t stay awake any longer), our main conflict comes into play. We’ve been dealing with someone from Izzy’s past all season, and things finally come to a head. Tables are turned, and now Ed and Stede have to work together to save Izzy from whatever the fuck is happening. During this time, they realize that Izzy is equally important to the both of them and vital for the co-captain dynamic and they’re like. Fuck. Now we REALLY have to save Izzy.

And god, Izzy’s been saving their asses this entire time, hasn’t he? He’s always been there, and now they need to be there for him.

So uhhhh they rescue him and everyone kisses yippee that’s the ens of season four. Season five gets to be the True Poly Season, where they get to fuck around and be the baddest bitches of all time and it’s beautiful.

And that’s my rough outline for. What the show could be? A fic I want to write but probably won’t? Uhhhh yeah 👍

I'm going to ramble about my jack-o-moon observations and theories here. (This is not Tsams)

Sooooooo. Jack (typing jack-o-Moon takes too long) has some interesting things. But to start this off. Let's first discuss my ideas of Fall fest.

So fall fest has been shoved into our faces a couple times. There has been some theories about what Fall fest is. My favorite theory is that it's some sort of older primal version of fazco (Probably going under another name) But I think that the Fall fest is some older version. Is that the playful characters that we know were created just for the establishments. But we're created prior in Fall fest. Even if they were costumes.

Anyways now that we know which fall fest theory I'm going about. I do think fall fest is where the first animatronics appeared. But definitely not the ones we know. I think Jack and maybe a couple of other circus looking guys were created first. Animatronics like Carny, balloon boy, Maybe the sister location people, and most importantly. Jack.

Yes I believe Jack is that old. Given the associations between the mimic and the DCA. As much as we might not want it, It is proof that they are old. I think Jack is literally the primal animatronic of the DCA. About as old as the mimic. And that Jack was repurposed into the DCA.

Which now we are going to get into some observations. I haven't gone over all of them and figure out what they mean. But I felt the context of where my brain was going would help with the context of my observations.

First observation I'm going to throw in your face is where Jack is. Jack is in a merry-go-round, and in the backstage of the foxy boat ride. First of all. I am pretty sure the carousel if anything is a refurbished item from Fall fest. Either that or it is legit from Fall fest. Now we have no idea of what sort of timeline is happening during help wanted 2. The location where many of these games are is in the Pizza Plex, sister location, And as far as I can tell Fall fest. Now given that everything FNAF lately has been really meta with games.

I am unsure if any of the games we play are real or not. They might literally be happening. Are recreations of certain events. Or are all hokey pokey and should not be trusted for lore. I'm going to go with reincarnations of certain events. Because that leads to some fun.

I'm going to put this little note here. Do two things that happen in the log ride. Mainly the glitchy next to Jack. I believe a part of him slipped into the game. I'll explain this later but it will help get some ideas down.

So the fall fest looking areas are recreated. Now this doesn't mean in my opinion that the characters have to be correct. If you were making a carnival and you knew that this robot or that robot was here. But you only had certain voices from one of the other. You would just work with what you got. So in my opinion the merry-go-round, despite using the DCA's current voice. Is actually just supposed to be Jack. They only used Sun and Moon's voice because they had nothing else to. They are the only living leftover of Jack. Not to mention that Jack doesn't technically have his own voice lines. It's all moons. So I think when this Jack appears, He's just using the voice that is available to him. But that's not his voice.

Which leads into another little fun thing. If Jack was only present in Fall fest. Why is he in the log boat ride. Well the simple matter of fact is that foxy's ride might have come from Fall fest. Even if then it wasn't a boat one. Like I said I think the worlds are reincarnations. And due to my little note before. I think Jack slipped in and took over games that were most familiar. Yes by that logic he could have gone into the dart game. But I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the boat ride.

Jocko moon completely overrides the boat rides backstage. As far as I can tell in both help wanted and help wanted 2. Those games get taken over by the virus and start showing animatronics. I believe Jack is specifically in this one because it is familiar to him. Carny has the dart game. Perhaps Jack was never used in the dart game. Or he had a rivalry with Carny. Whichever way the boat ride was the closest to another Fall fest thing. So he decided to take that over instead.

Now let's get into the whole fact that jack Is even in the help wanted 2 files. Now this little theory is connected to a off-hand comment from another theorist. Basically they mentioned that Jack looks a little familiar to eclipse. The one that's stuck in the balloon boy arcade game. It makes a little bit of sense. He is a primarily dark shaded robot with glowing orange eyes and mouth. If it wasn't for the fact that Eclipse is all black and orange. They would really look similar to each other. And don't throw the fact that Jack doesn't have rays. He does! In his gallery he is seen with his rays. It is in my opinion he uses them interchangeably. The point is he has every good reason to look like arcade eclipse. And he can in a dark corner. So I believe the glitchy arcade Eclipse and Jack are one in the same. Eclipse as we see him in ruin is sun and moon's safety mode. Completely unrelated to the one inside of the arcade. Which I believe is either a fragment of Jack or him entirely.

Now on to my last bit of rambling. The Fall fest fire. It is evident that in both of the Fall fest like games they burn. Something happened at Fall fest. Now I do have the mental mentality to think that fall fest has been going on for at least a while after whatever this fire was. What now a fall fest happens during the time before the pizza plex. Whether it was some sort of temporary marketing while they rebooted the series I don't know. But I feel like whatever this fire was, definitely happened before that point. Anyways the fire. We're going to be talking primarily about the carousel. Since that's the one that Jack is in.

Some people might not know. But technically the fire spreads from the barn down to the carousel. Something happened to the barn. And I think Jack was in the carousel when it happened. It is very evident that Jack is in the carousel fire level. This can either mean two things. There is of course the option that Jack was the one to cause the fire in the barn and wandered down to the carousel for joyride. The other option is that Jack was in the carousel when the fire reached it. Seeking some safety that did not work. Depending on how you take Jack's gremlin behavior you could choose either. Either way I think the fire is a memory that Jack is connected to in the carousel. And that's why he specifically appeared there. The log ride might also be connected to a memory of Jack's. Of course it could just be that he wanted another place to rummage around in. Perhaps disconnected to the fire.

One more thing I might need to mention. Like I said I think eclipse in the arcade and Jack are connected somehow. It has become embarrassingly clear that the DCA is definitely in cahoots with glitch trap. Whether that be willing or not depends. Although I always think unwilling. Either way whatever happened to the DCA might have started with Jack. Jack might have had some glitch trap tampering at some point. Whether that was it when he was in limbo in security breach or way earlier is dependent. I like to think it happened during security breach because help wanted one and two do take place during the before and after time of security breach. I think Jack was the back door. Or at least got infected alongside moon. He jumped to the arcade Perhaps is some sort of safety. And maybe he traveled through the wires during ruin so that he could interact with our help wanted 2 protagonist. Either way I think Jack got infected and then jumped into the network of the pizzaplex. Whether fragmented or full doesn't matter. He got into the wires or transferred through some "old junk" when they were making the help wanted stuff.

And I think that's all my ramblings. They definitely could be organized better, but whatever. Maybe I'll fix them in another post later.

[Response to critique] The dynamic between [You] and Amalia was something akin to that of a sibling. I have a school-adopted-brother that is two years younger than me—same age as my brother—that messes around with me like Amalia. He would respond unhingely with a “Your mom,” or “You can now get arrested for being a pedo, you know that, right?” Because it’s an inside school joke that everyone that turns 18 gets told, as a coming to terms that if you get arrested you’ll go to adult jail.

….I’m the only one in the group that’s legally an adult. I fear for my life at times….

Anyway. To be completely honest, I had wanted Amalia to be the kind of friend that would go above and beyond for [You]. But then, an idea pop in: “Why don’t we make her unhinged and dumb?”

And that’s how the character Amalia, was born.

When writing the prologue, I had felt like I was dragging it for sooooooo long, and that no one would read it because of how long it was. But, it turns that writing something rather than reading it takes way longer.

I felt proud when I re-read it a few hours later. It felt like it had a nice pacing, I had captured the characters’ personalities, and described the scenery long enough to entertain but not bore; the moments of “show, don’t tell.” I don’t like it when there are short introductions to the problem that [You] will face in other fanfics, so I kept that in mind the whole time. The end was…something, let me tell you that. I impressed myself to say the least.

“Nothing about their deaths felt faked”? Thank you. It took me 4 rewrites to figure that one out. Also, I wanted to emphasize that these are high schoolers since there are times where people fall victim to forgetting the fact when reading other fanfics.

I’m not very good at explaining things as much as I am with visually showing it (not very good at it either), but I will do my best!!!

First off, about Aoi and Sumire, in the actual story they are similar and the thing about how, even if it isn’t confirmed as of right now, Sumire may be related to Aoi. It was more of a spontaneous decision more than carefully planned, but the more I thought about it, it would help in showing a couple of things regarding the Akane family and/or the world as a whole.

In this au, Aoi and Sumire’s roles have switched. At least, the time they are alive have been switched. Aoi was set to be a sacrifice for God, while Sumire lives as a student going to the same school as Hanako and Mitsuba. There was the issue of how Aoi would actually be able to go to the Near Shore, since we’ve seen where the kannagi go when they are sacrificed, and Sumire was the yoshiro of No. 6 so she didn’t have the same fate as the others. But as Sumire had grown spiteful of the townspeople when she was growing up, there would be a chance that Aoi would probably feel the same way if she were in Sumire’s place.

For Aoi to be able to meet Sumire or even Nene, she can’t die from actually being sacrificed. It was a stupid idea but it made the most sense to me at time, but why not have Aoi be so spiteful that she decided, “you know what? I think I’m gonna go out with a bang” and make a huge scene before she died. Because of that, she didn’t actually die being sacrificed, but during the commotion. Years later, she’d meet Nene, Akane, and others like Sumire.

I think they’d meet in the school garden or something while Aoi is looking for Nene, I don’t know

As for Akane, in the beginning, I actually didn’t know what to do for his backstory or what I should do with his look, but now I have it and it is a mystery!!!!

Not actually, but Akane’s backstory is more of something I still don’t have all laid out, but I do know what the general idea of it is. I can’t really think of a reason why he’s one of the few who actually grew up despite being a supernatural, but it plays into him going around crumpling papers of dated missing posters. As for Teru calling Akane a traitor, it’s more like Teru is calling out how he literally left to go hang out with humans and “pretend” to be one, like he’s not doing the same thing. It’s totally different because he has a mission, apparently.

WELL, going off the origins of the park, mini-golf. it was a mini-golf course, and it spread to an on-site like trailer-sized escape room, and after that it the blueprints of an actual theme park was put into consideration. so those two attractions thrived for about 15 years n then it closed down for a bit, and reopened after the park opened. and ofc it wasn't as big as it is now but it still managed to get extremely popular. so there was money to start with since boss wasn't the original owner. maybe he was a close relative that uHHHH idk got the rights to it. somehow. the only living relative of a sad, semi-rich uncle. LMAO

anyway boss inherited it and started the park blah blah yeah so he was there for a while and just kinda corrupted it gradually,,,,,

YESSS who will steal it?? maybe like disney there could be like different locations. i'mma say no to that just cause idk but there are DEFINITELY people who get inspired and IMMEDIATELY shut down by the park cause boss is afraid of competition and extremely manipulative with his words :3c

It's now been six months since I started my journey into Asian BL series*, and there's nothing I like more than making lists and procrastinating (with a dash of navel gazing), so I'm here to ramble a bit haha (okay this got really long 😅)

So, I had heard of some of these shows for a while, but I was dumb and couldn't figure out how to watch them XD then, someone on Reddit asked for recs for gay period dramas, and another person recommended I Feel You Linger in the Air to them (I still haven't finished this) and that sent me down a rabbit hole, which eventually led to me watching Moonlight Chicken at the end of January. I was super anxious and depressed at the time (compared to my usual levels of depression and anxiety) and it was exactly the balm I needed! And then I proceeded to watch 49 more shows in the following six months lmao

Also, as much as I sometimes love a sad love story, I was getting frustrated that so many queer romance movies were ending with the main couple apart—maybe everyone wants to make their own version of Weekend, I don’t know haha (Sidenote: I swear there were more HEA in 90s/00s queer films but maybe that was selection bias) Like, don't get me wrong, they're basically all made by queer creators, and I don't want to police what they make (I have a whole rant about this, but I'll save it for another day...or my drafts lol) But as a rom-com lover I was getting bored of watching the same 10 movies/shows over and over for my HEA lmao so, delving into Asian BL series where the majority seem to have happy endings??? Omg, it's been HEAVEN!

As far as adjusting, there wasn't really much to do. I only note this, because a few people I've chatted to elsewhere seemed to treat it like I was delving into completely new territory or something??

Anything that isn't just your standard rom-com or romance trope, I was probably familiar with due to many years in transformative fandom. And the things I wasn't familiar with were mostly cultural things (which I'm still learning about) or different stylistic choices (like the sound effects, which I love). The fandom culture, though, has been a little more of an adjustment, especially the fan service and fixed couples (I think this is a super cute idea, tbh—it feels like watching the gay Fred and Ginger or Myrna Loy and William Powell et al, you know? By the by, Loy and Powell made 13 films together!)

I think overall I'm more drawn to Thai series, but the Japanese ones, when they hit emotionally, they hit like nothing else. Like nothing I've ever watched really. I think it's the way they do longing and yearning combined with feelings of low self worth that's just sooooooo good and delicious to me. But, yeah, there's something about the Thai series that I'm really drawn to! I've started watching more Thai movies in general and listening to Thai music and, I don't know, I enjoy it all. I still need to delve into Taiwan and other countries, though

I've had so much fun with the series I've watched and learning little bits of different cultures and I'm excited to keep going and make my way through my intimidatingly long watchlist lol It's been hard not to let other people's opinions get me down, though—I've felt less embarrassed about enjoying rom coms on Letterboxd than I have since poking my head into BL spaces, but... I don't think I'll dwell on that XD

Thanksgiving: Chapter 11

Some of the servants' families have been serving your family for long enough that there's a good chance it's technically a form of serfdom, so you figure that if anyone knows what's going on here it's probably them.

Most of them are friendly to you, at first. They've known you since you were a child, and many have fond memories of your youth. You all share a good laugh as Old Maud recounts the story of the time a crazed prophet tried to drown you to prevent you becoming "the vessel"-

only to be drowned himself when your tiny flailing body hit him square in the balls. Hm. Actually, now that you think about it... "Hey, so what set that guy off, anyway?" You ask, as casually as you can. The room's mood immediately shifts. Everybody's looking away from you.

"'That guy,' as you called him," Dafyd speaks up, his face as dour as ever, "was Myron Earl. He was born here on the estate, same as a good many of us. Good man, once. He loved yer Da, he did. Probably a bit too much. Didn't take it well when yer ol' man inherited."

"Not really following on how that meant he wanted to kill ME." "You've got it wrong. He wanted to kill the Old Master. Thought that if there was no one left to inherit, it'd just pop off when yer Da died." "And... that would work?" You ask, REALLY not liking that logic.

"We've absolutely no idea," Old Maud interrupts, crankly, "And it doesn't matter. You're alive and well, as are the others. Well, the ones SOMEONE didn't knock into Marissa, anyway." Dafyd just shrugs, completely unashamed. "SOOOoooo how many can't...inherit...anyway?"

"Absolutely no idea," Dafyd shrugs again, "Little David, obviously. One or two of the others, mayhap? Yer Ma was... not enthusiastic about her marriage to something that had been dead for three hundred years."

"Wait, that still leaves-" you do some quick math in your head, "Five or six kids that ARE his. That sounds like a reasonably happy marriage." "Oh, no, not at all," Old Maud laughs, "Sorry to say, darling, but your mother loved your father's drink."

"His what?" "Special kind of beer or something he makes. Well, that IT makes. Only the master's bride is allowed to have any. Hate to say it, darling, but your mother loved cocaine and the special brew, not your father."

"I don't suppose you'd know anything more about the ghost itself?" You desperately try to change the subject as about a half dozen other people launch into tales of your mother's various girlfriends, boyfriends, affairs, trysts, and jail stint over an unnatural act with a statue.

"Aye," Dafyd nods, "We all know better than to interfere with it. Once you inherit, the Old Master will inherit all your memories. Which means we're all eager to stay on his good side." "Also, he's the one who signs our paychecks," Old Maud clarifies. Damn you, capitalism!

While you thank them for their time, you notice your journalist surreptitiously shoving a copy of Das Kapital onto the bookshelf. You're not sure how you feel about the undead trying to foster a rebellion in your own house, but their trying to overthrow the ghost would be helpful

Time For the Life Update (10/19)

Hey Ya'll! First i should say that i'm sorry for being nearly inactive for the past monthish (idk who i'm apologizing to i have next to no followers). I went inactive cuz i moved focus to my twitter -go follow if you aren't i'm @/MxBlah- due to it beginning to gain a bunch of traction. However in the midst of the collapse that twitter is experiencing i'd love to be on here more often! I love to vent/rant on here sooooooo lets catch up.

I started high school this year and i'm pretty neutral on it so far. A lot of my favorite people ended up at different schools than i did and the ones who do go to my school don't have any classes with me :( However, the workload isn't as bad as people made it out to be (so far at least).

As for my personal life i'm finally getting my name legally changed tomorrow (as long as the judge approves it which has me nervous). The idea of me getting to live my life as my true non-binary self has got me thinking and i realized a bit of a curse following me... if you know me personally for long enough you will come out to me eventually. THAT is the gay agenda at work right there!

To make things negative real quick i had a falling out with one of my best friends this summer. He was that one intense friendship that every queer person has at one point or another where you are most definitely VERY attracted to them but just can't admit it. He knew I liked him for a bit but he assumed I was over him long before I actually was. He was "straight" but as time went on the joking flirting that i often do turned into something else. That's not why our friendship is strained right now though. (TW for discussions of sexual harassment if that's not something you want to read about skip on to the next paragraph) Basically he started repeatedly asking certain people for nudes and to have sex with him even after they said no multiple times. He only ever asked me for either of those once even though he knew I had been dating someone and we had been committed for a while. It got to a point where he has got his contact with everyone taken away. Even though what he did was fucked up and he hurt people I still don't want to throw away our friendship like that y'know?

Anyways some fun things i've done recently are;

I just have to tell you, I abandoned the Jehovah's Witnesses after being faithful to them for my entire childhood and middle school years when I took up French in high school. I had grown absolutely tired of being the one always unable to have fun with the rest of the class celebrating and learning about holidays and I loved nothing half as much as I loved French sooooooo I abandoned the Jehovah's Witnesses so I could sing Christmas songs in both French and German. I could seriously make long posts about what the Witnesses did to me growing up and how I think it's actually remarkable that despite them calling me evil, spawn of Satan, and a demon, that I retained my imagination and creativity to where my favorite genre to read, write, and watch is fantasy. It was such a horribly lonely existence for me, constantly feeling like I could never be loved and that any mistake, no matter how little, would not just send me into hellfire for all of eternity, but my dad as well. All I wanted when I was little was to be good. I was the very definition of meek. I read EVERY and I seriously do mean EVERY publication that they had to offer because I honestly was desperate to be pleasing. My mother abandoned our family and my dad was doing the best he could by working graveyard shift as a janitor. He had no idea that the Witnesses were doing this to me, because he grew up in a Christian family and actually did not even like the Witnesses, but we went to the Kingdom Hall anyway because he thought he was doing the right thing for us. For everything that they've made me feel about myself, for how they made me feel like I wasn't even human, could never be human or loved, I will never forgive them. I've heard so often that I have to forgive, that I must forgive because that is empowering. But I don't know, I just feel so much better in saying that I will NEVER forgive them. I'm so sorry your best friend got caught up in that cult. My heart would have just shattered, having gone through everything that I did growing up.

So, I'm going to just publish this one without any commentary from myself and just let your words speak for themselves. Maybe they'll reach someone who is thinking about escaping and needs a sign or thinking about becoming a JW.

i have folders in this main folder for all the properties i have 10+ docs for but i rly need to do anything else so im only gonna dig at stuff at the bottom of this main one

holy fuck there's a lot of magi.

tswf is still there and i'll be damned if i never go back to that one. loved the set-up so much w/ sinja adopting aladdin. i think i had jaf as an emt bc i remember he was gonna copy rly bad w the stress of the job by relying on drugs. there was some plot w alibaba getting into trouble but i dont remember with who or what besides kassim was involved. there were sooooooo many storylines for this one. i wanted sin to have an unusual major for uni and idk if i picked a legit job you need engineering bg for or if it was a trade school thing bc it sounds like one. have it written he's a tech that takes care of removing armed explosives stuck in the ground that never activated for w/e reason. it wa ssupposed to have him out traveling a lot but i never did pick a real world location for the setting so ig he could be in the area or even the same country. damn all of these plot pts are depressing af. there are 71 pages in the doc.

haikyuu atla au :) this is oldie but goodie. i do still adore atla aus set during the 100 yr war that could've happened bc it doesn't interfere w canon at all. where ur blorbos from other fandoms are jus some Random Guys. read an iwaoi fic like this and it was so good. i think i wanted to emulate that could-have-been so while plotting i came up w reasons for why someone impt would go mia and such. it was boku/aka set in the northern water tribe not long after the start of the war. bokuto was an envoy from omashu tasked with acquiring help and allying with the nwt. akaashi was the crown prince who by the end of the fic runs off w a team during one of the first and only fire nation attempted invasions. it was going to end with bokuto finding his betrothal necklace among the rubble and going after him.

there was a sequel i prolly thought more abt at some point than the original, considering theres a separate doc w writing already in it. the premise was switching pov of akaashi and bokuto, except akaashi's was in the past depicting he n his team assisting in the war efforts (and running into semi ig. some sort of firebender) and bokuto's pov starts with his reunion w/ akaashi and continues in present. think i was inspired by a lauren oliver novel tho idk which one. the time difference appealed to me. anyway at some point in the present they run into fire nation deserters kenma and kuroo and roll out w them (jeong-jeong is still the first deserter a la canon bc these 2 kill every witness and fake death to get away). and uhhhh i remember it ends at the swamp. with akaashi deciding to stay at the swamp in some bout of hopelessness. bc its far too soon for them to do anything to impact a war that will rage on for another 80+ years and the swamp is considered "safe and distant" and peaceful to an extent. lotta fun there would love to write both of these

i still have the bnha aristocats!au set during ww1 france and also they are not cats. still seems like a fun idea but idc abt bnha at allllllll anymore so perhaps i will axe this one.

everything else is 2020 which i think is safe. there's a couple dcmk ideas i wanna go back to. one of them is a pkmn au so :))))) yea. i think it was kaito&shiho on the run from team rocket for diff reasons and shinichi gets roped into helping them by being their third/traveling companion. fun stuff. the other was an attempt at a realistic kaishin run-in that i hadn't seen done before (or that i liked the execution of) so purely self-indulgence. kaito and ran are paired for a uni chem project and the topic they're presenting ends up being the key to solving a murder case. fun stuff :)

i had another magi longfic idea where al tharmen is a doomsday cult disbanded and aladdin is the young ward they worshiped as the chosen messiah as the son of solomon. he's taken in by ja'far who has to socialize a kid raised from birth by a cult. the only stand-outs i remember is playing around with trans!titus and him and sphintus having a baby near the end of the fic. titus becomes like a brother figure to aladdin n him and schehe live across the hall. sinbad is mia but still involved enough in ja'far's affairs to be a nuisance even from overseas. there was smth there abt a reunion between the two but it wasnt a sinja story. that one would be fun but the research aspect gah damn

i'm sure i have more fic ideas lurking in my tumblr drafts from years ago but idk idk this is long enough as is. i do remember the big toaru au (there were 3 but this was the Big tie-everything-in-canon-together one) where all the lvl 5s have to work together as they're hunted by aihana etsu. wanted to finish reading gt novels before diving in and that never happened but hooooooooly is that post long af under a read more i was not messing around w plotting. the other was a scifi attempt w astral buddy cast i would still love to revisit.

everything else is still recent enough that i dont hate it haha. not sure why the last three paragraphs other than rambling abt old ideas ive never revealed before. there! have at it

looking @ old fic i started when i was 14/15 is so funny bc im realizing once again why i never mark fics as abandoned even if its been literal years since i've touched them. specifically i was checking docs for stuff i started and either did or didn't post to ffn.

and its like. nothing is bad??? like i can see where my outside-the-box ideal of fic writing comes from. not just fics but writing in general, i'm p sure. even if it's a total cliche plot setup, there are details on each that rly make it stand out like oh yeahhhhhh i did have this great idea once upon a time.

funny too bc was it executed well in prose??? no absolutely not i wrote like shit when i was 15. would i revive an idea one day and revise it to be less cliche or cringy while still keeping the stand-out elements??? yea maybe. i might. everything i'm currently working on that i started from 2021 up to now still holds my supreme interest, but like i'm not gonna say never.

esp since i write fic first and foremost for my own need and specifically what i like to read, it makes it impossible to consider an idea i've thought extensively about "not worth writing anymore". anyway not making this too long i jus found everything interesting to consider
