amity and boscha are sorta foils, in a way
there's the obvious bit where they're both former mean girls and amity improved herself while bosha didn't
but there's also like
boscha's clearly got SOME sort of abandonment issues goin on in this episode
and amity's also had some abandonment issues of her own (probably originating a lot from her own father slowly fading from her life with absolutely no explanation when she was a child). we see these come to a head in eclipse lake when she is so easily convinced that luz will abandon her if she is not perfect
but whereas boscha acts Like That because of her issues, amity handles them relatively healthily, seeking love from good people who she knows will give it to her unconditionally and communicating with honesty and understanding when she feels like she is being pushed away by luz
#eliot posts#toh#toh spoilers#the owl house#toh meta#amity blight#boscha toh#i'm surprised i was at all interested in that storyline this episode#because normally i found boscha extraordinarily uninteresting and rather overrated#(mostly when the fandom was in its s1 days. ppl were obsessed w her for some reason back then#but mostly lost interest in her as s2 went on and more plot happened)#i think i briefly even had her name blacklisted for a short while back then. not because i really hated her but bc like#most content of her seemed to follow a very specific type of fanon about the show as a whole if that makes any sense?#and included heavy flanderization of my girl amity#(but honestly i swear like a third of fics IN GENERAL back then read like they were written by someone whose only understanding of amity#cane from watching the little miss perfect animatic and literally nothing else. )#but to my surprise i actually rather enjoyed the scenes with her in them this episode#and the fan content of her by now is pretty good actually#anyway i have A Lot to say abt amity and the concept of abandonment#and how the show handles abandonment (and perceived abandonment) in general#boscha's behaviour here is actually an echo of phillip's behaviour towards calab and a little bit of a running theme w this show in general
