I quickly ran out of tags right in the middle of me about to ramble about the designs so screw it im adding it here

yea so i ended on pink link, but i'll repeat. LA link has pink hair cuz he's the Link from ALttP whose sprite has bright pink hair and i am very sad the pink hair isn't really canon cuz that means we'll likely never get a proper pink link :(. I also gave him red eyes to match the bunny sprite from ALttP. Idk if this design is supposed to be during or just after LA, so the braid was either made by Marin, or he learned himself after to do it like she did. The hibiscus is a post game thing tho, I like to imagine he starts wearing one post LA. then the feather earring is meant to be the Roc's Feather! i love finding ways to incorporate items and such into their designs. Finally, I would usually probably draw him with the red outfit from ALttP, but I decided to make a design just for LA, cuz i, yknow. played LA and not ALttP. Hopefully i'll post a full thing with the design sometime

Wild Link gave me SO much trouble. Mostly his bangs, couldn't figure out how to draw them for the life of me. but honestly his whole hair kinda gave me trouble. And then I feel like the outfit looks kinda awkward from the posing or how its cut off. Its meant to be the archaic set (but dark blue) over his champions tunic, but then with an extra green sash in the middle like the one in the ember set. They have some little designs on em, but at the bottom, so they're not visible. Then he's supposed to have the hylian hood cuz i love that, but i feel it looks a tad strange here. + i can admit the design may be getting a tad overcomplicated with the 2 sashes on top of the tunic AND a cap thing. But i can't resist. Besides the clothing, i also added a silent princess to his hair since it matches his color palette, and possibly reminds him of Zelda (and I like to think Zelda has a sundelion in her hair). Then there's some facial scarring from when he died, and finally, i drew his eyes a bit different than I did anyone else. I usually include a secondary color or lighter color as a half circle on the bottom of the eye, but i left that out to make the eyes lack a bit of light/look a bit flat. I like to think that before dying, Link's eyes were some other color. Maybe a dark blue or even brown or something, but when resurrected, his eyes turned Sheikah tech blue. To emphasize that, I also made his pupils a bright blue instead of white. And the lack of that extra shine of color was meant to make them look slightly "dead"

Not a whole lot to say on MM Link, if it was his fullbody design i would (and even have an old design sheet im hoping to update and post), but I'm thinking of redesigning it a bit. I've seen some art where his clothes are drawn to be more "leaf-like" or that they're made out of nature, cuz yknow, grew up as a kokiri. So i might try that. Otherwise all i have to say is that i made his eyes green cuz 1. I do what i want, and 2. to set him apart from the kokiri who all seem to have blue eyes. Also i gave him eyebags cuz this poor kid keeps living the same 3 days over and over again, so who knows when he's getting sleep, if he's getting any at all

TP Link! Not much to say, only thing I visibly changed/added to his design thats visible here is the slight change in color of his hair at the ends. Its meant to be fading into colors like his wolf form. I wanted to reference his wolf form but didn't wanna actually add wolf features or a wolf pelt or anything. Wanted something more subtle ig

then WW Link! i do have a posted design sheet for him, but i did actually slightly tweak the colors of his outfit. His shirt was more a middle blue (similar to Wild's champions tunic here), but decided I wanted to go teal after ive seen some pretty fanart where this Link is dressed in teal. So then I also had to tweak the green to better match with it. Otherwise, he's just missing the pirate stone thing that i would normally draw around his neck. I removed it cuz it would get cut off awkwardly. (i also debated giving LA Link Marin's necklace, but also decided not to for this reason)

and i don't have anything to say for ms echo, i just recently posted a design sheet for her. ig all i have to say is that she gave me a surprising amount of trouble to draw here for some reason. I've drawn her so much lately, so i was surprised

Overall Wild was the most difficult to draw, followed actually by Twilight, but thats cuz the original pose was just him staring straight at the camera. It looked real awkward and his shoulders looked weird and i could not for the life of me figure out how to add his hat. So i ended up completely restarting him, and from then on it was much easier. Then majoras mask link was hard cuz i messed up the proportions (made his body too small, head too tall, etc.). and like i said Echo weirdly gave me trouble. So thank u sm to Wind and LA link, they didn't give me trouble <3

i like the headcanon that ALttP Link is related to his Zelda (if ur unfamiliar, Link's uncle says smthn at the begininng of ALttP, along the lines of "Link, Zelda is your...." before trailing off. Its unlikely he meant sister, but that is what a lot of minds jump to. But its unlikely cuz i think theres either art or text somewhere out there that implies romance between the 2 so. yea not likely. but its still a liked headcanon by a fair few.)

I know its not canon, but i like the idea. it opens up some interesting ideas and dynamics! Like i doubt we'll ever have Link and Zelda be siblings since its such a popular ship, yknow? And headcanoning them as such would usually be seen as weird (like imagine saying u headcanon BotW/TotK Zelink as siblings. Its such a popular ship, people would def think ur weird and like just trying to justify disliking the ship or smthn unfortunately), but this is the one pair of Zelda and Link where its at least somewhat understandable. I see it a lot in linked universe fanfiction.

but yea I think exploring a sibling relationship between Link and Zelda would be interesting, since its different from other dynamics we've got, like love interests, childhood friends, knight and princess, etc. And this dynamic is esp interesting since it would mean Link was sent away and hidden for some reason. I would think that the royal family puts so much importance on the first born daughter, as she's always the Zelda, the important and magical one. So i imagine most of the time the royal family would want to have one girl and nothing else in order to avoid any possible drama, fights for the throne, or just to avoid not having the magic zelda needed to save the day if trouble arises. So if they got a boy first? or if they got a set of boy/girl twins? I think itd be seen as like a bad omen or smthn. at the very least, they wouldn't have a use for the boy. so thats kinda my headcanon for why Link was sent away and didn't know he was royalty. This is why i said it opens up interesting ideas! I wish we would explore the royal family more, cuz in several games they were iffy

but yeah ANYWAY. the reason i said all this is cuz since I headcanon LA/ALttP Link as related to his Zelda (i like the twin idea best), so that means he's also related to EoW Zelda! She's his like great great something grand niece. And i kinda like the idea of Zelda taking more after her (great great something grand) uncle, rather than her mother (or grandmothers n such). Kinda works well since she's taking the role of the hero, so its a weird stroke of fate that she would look like the hero from the family's past. So i gave em the same face. Plus the colors kinda worked out well on their own. I made a lot of EoW Zelda's colors slightly pinkish to fit with her main purple color, so her blonde hair and brown eyes are slightly more pinkish, which actually draws her slightly closer to LA Link's colors (while still looking quite different. There is quite a bit of time in-between the two afterall)

The reason some Zelda fans believe ALttP Link and Zelda are related is this:

Those are the dying words of Link’s uncle. Some English fans (Edit: choose to)(Edit: nowadays) believe the end of this sentence was supposed to be “sister,” since nothing else really fits (I’ve heard “soulmate” (Edit: or “destiny”) as an option, but it seems strange for Link’s uncle to be telling him who he’s supposed to end up with). Thus the headcanon of ALttP Link and Zelda being siblings.

The Japanese text is even more ambiguous, since it reads something along the lines of “You are the princess’s…” This means the line was probably meant to say something like “You are the princess’ only hope.” Unfortunately, this version doesn’t seem to work as well with the English translation, while the “sister” line still works with the Japanese text. The intention is different from the way some fans choose to interpret it. :)

To complicate matters further, the remake (2003) removed the line from that scene, although the line is still present elsewhere in the game— Blind the Bandit disguises himself as Link’s dying uncle and repeats the same lines, and he says the original phrase (Edit: ending with, “You are the princess’…”). The devs are definitely aware of the original line. (Edit: And they’ve fixed the translation, lol.)

So there’s the background info!

Now, on to the main part: regarding following LU canon. The truth is: I am already changing a few things from Linked Universe, the most important of which are these:

Legend and Fable are siblings

Tetra and Wind are not Phantom and Spirit

Shadow and the Four Swords manga are canon

Time and Wind (and other relevant characters) remember Hyrule Warriors

Why am I making these changes for my AU?

I’m much more of a Spirit Tracks fan than Jojo seems to be :). And when considering the Zeldas, Phantom is markedly different from Tetra in both personality and skills. I’m sticking to LoZ canon over LU canon here. Phantom deserves to be her own character!

I’ve been a fan of the FSA manga for a decade and a half now, so it has long affected the way I see the Zelda series. I also love Shadow and Four’s history— it adds a unique twist to the classic Zelda formula. Shadow is therefore canon in Wielders of Wisdom and the parallel LU story, The Secrets We Keep. Expect Shadow’s backstory to play a role somewhere in the combined Wisdomverse :)

I’m new to the Hyrule Warriors fandom, but I love the connection it gives Warriors with Time and Wind— and other characters :). This is also going to be addressed in The Secrets We Keep. Check that out for more info!

Many of you who write/read fanfics for LU have seen these ideas before. Interpreting canon in different ways has always been an integral part of the Zelda fandom, because canon is itself can be contradictory. That’s one of the things that makes this fandom so fun <3.

And the most important thing is that these changes fit the story I want to tell better.

I’m going to do my best to stick to LU whenever possible, but I want to tell a fun, engaging story, and sometimes that will mean taking a different path: sometimes following LoZ canon more closely, sometimes interpreting things my own way :).

So, to answer your question: I will probably be keeping Legend and Fable as siblings. It’s a popular headcanon among fans. I believe the story I’m telling for Fable works better with other romantic interests for Legend. And I want to stress that he and Fable are just as fiercely loyal to each other.

That said, I definitely don’t mind if you believe differently! I don’t really emphasize romance anyways, and I’m not here to police the fandom. Please feel free to read the references to Legend calling Fable “sister” as friendship, or just ignore it, or whatever you wish! I don’t mind who you ship with who.

Only preference is: please don’t ship the Wielders with each other, since they’re canonically related by blood and spirit :). Other than that, anything goes as far as I’m concerned.

Kinda more general LoZ ask than LU but, honestly, I’ve never got the whole “Zelda is your [sister]” hc thing. Like. Why sister? How did that become the general consensus as to that being what AlttP Link’s Uncle would’ve said? It’s clearly not the case in the AlttP Manga. even tho it’s not canon…I feel like if it was meant for them to be siblings they would’ve done that. Idk my brain just isn’t processing it lol. like it’s fun to image Link also being a prince for a change, but it makes like no sense to me. I don’t think they, Nintendo, would’ve intended for that to be the case for AlttP unless they were more explicit for it. They don’t even seem to be in love tbh, although I have not finished the game yet(I forgot)

Anyways uh, just wanted to get that off my chest. Also agree with you with EoW being it’s own, separate thing to the AlttP timeline. Jojo didn’t play it before she posted that drawing I don’t think, so I don’t think she would make EoW canon to Legend’s whole deal.

Siblings or no, they don’t seem very romantically involved to me. Neither do a lot of the Links and Zeldas but I don’t think anyone wants to listen to me talk about how I just do NOT see the chemistry between Wars and Athena, or Wind and Tetra, or Four and Dot alskdkdk (sorry zelink shippers 😔 I love y’all i just don’t see it. YOU KEEP ON YAPPIN ABOUT UR GUYS THO I LOVE TO HEAR IT)

i really really hope she doesnt throw EOW in Legend’s canon- but at the end of the day I am not Jojo. Though till she does say anything official I will be treating Echo and Fable like 2 different people

Hello ! I'm sorry if this has already been answered before but aren't Legend and Fable siblings.. Uh no let me repharse, Do you consider them as siblings ?

I know it's just a theory based on the last words of Legend's uncle in aLttP (a Link to the Past) wich are "Zelda is your..." (correct me if I'm wrong but I think those are the words).

I know it's a pretty popular headcanon among the zelda fandom in general.

I figured since you ship them you clearly don't consider them as related like that but for my peace of mind I need to know please..

First of all, I just wanna say that it made me super happy how you worded this ask. :) people usually come to me and just tell me that I can’t ship them because they’re siblings. Which canonically theyre not. (In both loz and LU. I think it’s still a super fun headcanon, but people just. Ugh.)

Skyward Sword Impa and Zelda roadtrip fic: In which Zelda and Impa travel through the past to the Temple of Hylia by foot. Zelda POV but Impa-centric, exploring her past, with some character development for Zelda as well. This one is actively in progress.

Skyward Sword Impa/Hylia fluff AU: Did you know that the way marriages were sealed in the Heian period was by staying overnight at someone's house for three nights in a row? Like come on I can't not make a fic out of that. Not actually sure if this is gonna be romantic though because I'm really aromantic.

Skyward Sword pre-canon Impa character study: Basically Impa Headcanon Explenation Fic. Stuffs as much backstory in as I am willing to write.

Skyward Sword Impa and Zelda achingly soft hair-cutting and/or cooking fic: Listen I just wanna write some feelsy Impa fluff ok.

Minish Cap New Years' Festival Fic: I want to write winter festivals but also not have them be Legally Distinct Christmas because that's lame. Anyway in which the Minish have a tradition of leaving little presents for humans and after canon Zelda and Link drum up the whole town to repay them.

Ocarina of Time Malon/Zelda Cinderella AU: Practically writes itself from Malon's side of things and I love Cinderella AUs. However I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do Zelda's arc in this fic. Also I'm not sure if this is gonna be romantic because I'm really aromantic.

BOTW/TOTK transmasc Zelda character study: Post-TOTK fic in which I make Zelda trans his gender and maybe abdicate the throne if I can swing it (doubtful). Explores how annoying matyr complexes are also.

Marin extended autism-transgenderism metaphor fic: In which Marin grows feathers and it's not a metaphor for anything don't worry about it. Would be really weird and experimental because this fic has an audience of Me, Specifically.

ALTTP Zelda-centric follow-up to 'Queen's Gambit': Didn't get to write in Link or Zelda learning they are siblings and I think the fallout of Zelda learning could be really fun.
