Lucas slowly stood up, not sure if he was imagining things. But Jens came closer and closer, until he could make out the hint of gold in Jens’s dark eyes, the silver earring in his ear and the mole that Lucas had pressed soft kisses one, more times than he could count.

And God, was he beautiful.

Jens slowly reached out to cup Lucas’s face gently, wiping away a tear that had trickled down his face. Lucas didn’t even realize he was crying until Jens wiped his thumb across his cheek, brushing off tear after tear. He could feel his lip quivering, too scared to ask if this was real or simply a dream. But then Jens smiled at him and kissed the top of his head before trailing down to his forehead, cheek and the mole above his lip.

The mark of a soulmate, a past lover and a future lover in every life, in every universe.

He let his forehead lean into Jens’s, who was still gently holding his face. He let tears fall again, unsure if they were from the pain he caused him or the happiness that Jens had come back. Jens slowly tilted his head up, looking deep into Lucas’s eyes as he whispered out a promise.

“You can run away as much as you want Luc. But I’m not leaving you. You aren’t alone because I am here, in this universe and the next. My role is to be with you, no matter who you are, what you go through and who you become.” Jens whispered, his lips brushing lightly against Lucas’s. “Because I love you too.”
