problem: rain- also known as a cat's biggest fear. as an orange cat!shapeshifter, it only made sense that the fear transferred to your human self too. big fat droplets of water coming from the sky that soaked your entire body, making you cold and miserable? appalling. the loud thundering of the droplets on the ground and the grumbling of thunder in your sensitive ears? overwhelming.

solution: just don't go outside! unfortunately, that just created another problem: as a formula 1 driver, it was kind of necessary that your boyfriend just had to go outside into the wet montreal weather. something about james vowles...media day...meeting...blah blah blah. it was all a bunch of mumbo jumbo in your head anyways.

so there you sat, unbudging, on the plush williams' blue couch of franco's driver room, bundled under at least three blankets while your boyfriend looked upon you, arms crossed.

"come on!" franco groans, trying to pull you off the couch with his extraordinarily strong arms. "let's go! i'm going to be late, and my pr manager is gonna be mad!"

you roll your eyes. did this boy not listen to your 20 minute rant prior about how you were gonna pass away if one single raindrop touched your skin?

"franco," you say pointedly, " like i said before, go without me! i am not about to be leaving this room to be miserable and wet in this canada weather."

"i'll get you an umbrella," franco offers helpfully.

you purse your lips. "wellll.... i already looked and couldn't find one in your driver's room."

that was kind of ridiculous honestly, because how williams managed to not store a single umbrella in the million dollar buildings in rainy montreal, no less, you would never understand. your boyfriend lets out an audible 'hmph' before throwing himself next to you on the couch and attempting to stick his cold feet into the warm bundle of blankets surrounding you. he looked unlikely to get up anytime soon. "what are you doing mister?" you question, trying pushing franco off the couch. "you gotta go!" scooting all the way to the other end of the couch so you can't reach him, he crosses his arms. "well, if you're not going, i'm not either." you let out a incredulous laugh. "baby, this is your literal job- if you don't do it you're gonna get fired!" to this, he just sniffs dismissively and turns his head away from you in a dismissive manner as if he was a little kid.

"no."

a minute of silence passes, with franco pouting on the one side of the couch, trying to ignore your eyes while you stare at your boyfriend with an eyebrow raised. you predict that he will give in the next 30 seconds, like he always does under your glare. the rain still thunders outside, a wet pitter-patter that promises only grief.

you can't ever predict what comes out of his mouth next, though.

"get in my shirt," your boyfriend demands.

your mouth drops open in disbelief.

"excuse me?" you ask slowly, enunciating each syllable. "you wanna repeat that for me?"

now, your boyfriend sometimes said some out-of-pocket stuff by this was a whole new weird.

franco's cheeks turn a dusty pink almost immediately, and he waves his arms in an effort to disperse the situation.

"no! i meant- not my shirt, my jacket- like i mean for you to get in-"

"franco, that's kind of freaky of you to say right now," you say quietly.

he slaps a hand over his rapidly reddening face and mutters, "imeantthatyoushouldturninyourcatformandgetinmyjacketsowecangotogether."

"ohhhh," you respond, realization dawning you. "you want me to climb into your jacket?"

franco nods quickly, relief evident on his features.

"yes, yes, yes, so you don't get wet and i can keep you nice and toasty," he supplies, looking at you for approval.

you squint your eyes at him, thinking, before slowly nodding.

"fine."

he practically beams at you before pushing himself off the couch. reaching up, he starts slowly unzips his jacket just a smidgen suggestively, wiggling his eyebrows at you.

god, this man was so unserious.

"franco," you snap, "hurry up and unzip your jacket so i can hop in! you're literally about to be half an hour late to wherever you're supposed to be going!"

your boyfriend huffs in annoyance before unzipping the rest of his jacket and thrusting his arms out for you to jump into.

you shift into your cat form and don't waste a second before leaping into his arms.

you can practically feel the raindrops on franco's raincoat as your boyfriend strolls through the paddock on the way to williams garage. admittedly, it feels quite calming curled up inside his coat, franco's body warmth and faint cologne just about lulling you to sleep. even the usual loud roar of the rain on the roofs of the buildings are muffled by the obstruction around you. your eyes are about to close when suddenly, somebody slaps franco on the back, jolting both him and you.

"franco!" a voice says with a tinge of amusement. "did you eat too much pizza at the hospitality or what?"

using your claws, you climb your way up franco's shirt from underneath his coat, and pop your head out of his collar. it leads to a few droplets of water sliding into your fluffy fur, but you dismiss it, more curious who was doing out in the rain as well.

none other than alex albon stands there, looking real dry under a large umbrella that is now held over franco's head as well. it is proudly labelled "williams racing" in blue lettering. his "pet" cockatiel sits proudly on his shoulder, bouncing up and down in hello when she sees you in franco's collar.

alex laughs when he spots you too.

"ah, i see, just your girlfriend in your coat!" he says, giving you wave.

you give him a loud meow and bare your canines in a smile.

alex smiles back at you kindly.

"so anyways, where ya'll going on this fine day in montreal, canada?" he asks, tilting his head, as if franco wasn't looking like a soggy biscuit with his drenched clothes and the weather didn't look like it was two seconds away from becoming a hurricane.

franco gestures vaguely towards the garages.

"the garages- didn't james tell us to go there like half an hour ago?"

alex laughs. "you're joking right? he didn't send anything out, cause how are you supposed to look at car performance in this weather?"

the both of you recognize the truth in alex's words at the same time. and when the flash of realization and embarassment crosses franco's face, you make sure take a deep breath, because if you don't, you are sure you would have mauled your boyfriend for bringing you all the way out in a storm for nothing.

@galaxynajma here are the actor/artist/writer isakainess hcs i mentioned earlier 🫡 (this got wayy longer than i was expecting it to be so it's basically a fic outline atp

kaiser started off as a child actor which explains... everything

when he was really young he popped up in a few roles for some pretty big movies

his biggest role as a kid though came when he was about ten where he played a big supporting character in a long-running kids' sitcom (think stuff like hannah montana, icarly, etc)

he's more or less cut off contact with his parents but he was fortunate to get a hold of his money once he turned 18

he's since moved out, rents out his own modest apartment, and he's shown up in a few moderately successful things

he's far from being an a-list actor but he's got a decent following

even though most people wouldn't be able to recognize his face, he can mention the stuff he's been in and people will be like "ohh yeah i've heard of that, i've been meaning to check it out"

he usually has to wear makeup to cover up his tattoo. most of his notable roles came before he cut + dyed his hair

his goal is to become an oscar-winning actor and he was able to get the lead role for a really serious film. his new hair just happened to suit the role

meanwhile there's ness the writer

he started off studying something STEM-related to appease his parents. besides, he needs a backup plan just in case the whole writing thing doesn't work out

but he soon dropped out due to being overwhelmed by how intense his competition was

fortunately enough he's still in contact with an ex classmate and he got some money doing copywriting for their side gig's website

on top of that he started submitting flash fiction and poetry to different competitions and magazines like CRAZYYY just to make a little more money

kaiser stumbles across one of his pieces, looks into him a little more, and finds ness's personal blog

he reads up on ness ranting about his parents and how he has no money

at this point kaiser's kinda fallen in love but he doesn't wanna seem too weird

and he reaches out to ness saying, "hey ik this sounds kinda weird but if you really wanna pursue your dreams but you're low on money you can become my roommate"

at first ness is like "wtf is this guy gonna try to kill me"

but he's late on rent and about to get evicted so he's DESPERATE

he agrees to meet kaiser to assess the vibes

and well. obviously ness falls head over heels in love with kaiser

(obv kaiser isn't gonna kill ness but don't follow in ness's footsteps guys you probably won't end up being as lucky)

and it works out great. kaiser's more than happy to cover most of the rent, he's out most of the time filming, and ness just has this bigass apartment where he's got ample space to work

anyway while kaiser's out and about one day he's at this cafe

there's this one worker on break, still in his apron and everything

he's off in the corner doodling something

the worker is isagi

and kaiser notices isagi is drawing HIM

kaiser goes up to him all smug like "wow, are you a fan? you want an autograph?"

and isagi's like "bro idfk who you are i just really liked your tattoo"

they talk a bit and isagi tells kaiser where he can find more of his work

isagi's mostly focused on digital art and commissions but he's also studying animation

kaiser finds his instagram and commissions isagi

"that napkin doodle you made of me was pretty good but i'd love to see how well you can capture my beauty given ample time (and money) ;)"

kaiser quickly becomes isagi's most frequent and highest paying client

you can say he's basically become isagi's (and to an extent ness's) sugar daddy

but kaiser likes to think of himself of those wealthy patrons from the renaissance

kaiser loved swinging by the cafe to ask about isagi's progress on his latest commission

one day he overheard isagi panicking about not being able to pay rent

and kaiser's like "you can move in with me and my roommate if you want"

and well. isagi does exactly that

ness kinda gets all crazy and possessive like "WHO'S THIS HOW DID YOU MEET HIM HOW DO YOU KNOW HE'S NOT-"

suffice to say he and isagi don't get along at first

but kaiser's never home so it's mostly just them on opposite sides of the apartment, sending glares at each other every now and then

it's BECAUSE kaiser is never around that isagi and ness are forced to bond with each other eventually

zurui onna, hidoi otoko and the like crazy cover are connected to underground idol, specifically junrie HEAR ME OUT

zurui onna is sung from the perspective of junji. some verses are about rie and others are about another woman who junji is involved with. this would make sense with the dialogue that they have in because (source: because behind the scenes)

after junji and rie fight, junji goes to his other lover's house (like crazy cover) one last time. this especially fits with the opening lines - "she's saying, 'baby, come and follow me, there's not a bad thing here tonight ... stay with me a little while'". he tells her that while he does like her, he can't sustain a relationship where they're both being unfaithful (zurui onna), and contemplates how he should have just stayed with rie all the time. i feel like the ending shot of like crazy is him leaving for the last time, after having a parting kiss with his other lover. he feels ashamed that even after his fight with rie and the realization that he should be with rie instead, he still was intimate with her. that's why he wipes his lips in an attempt to wipe away her kiss.

ooo's work is not very chronological at all so i also think that this scene, and the scenes of him in the denim jacket in general, have to do with rie. here he's standing outside his doorstep, contemplating if he should knock.

he doesn't knock. him and rie smooth things over later on instead, at the pool scene in because. this is also reminiscent of seoul drift, and how throughout ui junji the one approaching rie and initiating things with him, and rie finally reciprocated in seoul drift.

and finally, a note on hidoi otoko. i think it's their first and only (so far) song to explicitly refer to their lover as male, and it definitely feels sung from the perspective of rie. lyrically it describes being in an on-and-off relationship with someone, and wanting to stay with them forever instead of the instability they have now. the lover doesn't listen - reminds me of this line in the because mv

rie wants to talk about the issues in their relationship so that it can last longer, but junji is impulsive and only wants things to be perfect now. (he realizes this was a mistake after the fight).

also it wld make sense for a jp release specifically to be from their povs bc their stage names are japanese

then the whole "dont knock it till youve tried my life of sin" refers to people shitting on him for playing the villain specifically the "my life of sin" being vil playing the villain over and over (many villains are seen as wrong or sinful so that also plays in)

if we're going w neige as the priest id says it because neige was trying to be nice to vil before vil tried to poison him. The line that noel says would be interpreted as vils words right before giving neige the apple which wouldve cursed him

if we are going with rook as the priest then i see it as rook talking to vil before she goes off to give neige the apple, like before vil separates from everyone, and noels part ould be like vil replying before she goes (i dont remember if they spoke before vil went to curse neige but ill look into it)

SAR HI! so i finally managed to finish mexican gothic and dang that was one hella weird book 😭 like ???

im gonna rate this 2.5/3 out of 5 because it just wasn't my cup of tea. it was really slow and like took ages to get the the point and actual plot. i felt they were repeating alot and it just got dragged alot which i hate, i dislike slow paced stuff ugh. and it doesn't pick up until the middle which is kinda annoying bc i was just reading and reading having no idea what's going on or what's supposed to be happening lol. i didnt like most of the characters either and i just skim read the half the book i could not take it anymore 😭 but like when everything was finally revealed like wth it was weird and idk what i expected honestly 😭😭 but yeah i didn't enjoy mexcian gothic so much.

BUT that’s so disappointing 🙁 i hate that sm, im sorry u didn’t like it!! i hate the slow books :/ (unless it’s slowburn romance 🤭) thats kinda how i felt with this book i read called milk fed?? it was just droning on and on and i just wanted it to end,,, and i was so excited to read it bc the topics in the book seemed like important ones to explore but the main character was annoying, the plot build up was annoying, the entire thing was just… so bad.

IF U NEED A CUTE READ, read forget me not by julie soto 🥰(sunshine wedding planner x grumpy florist + enemies to lovers + second chance) i recommend this book to everybody bc it’s my fav romance ive read this year,,, or maybe try love and other words by christina lauren since fall time is coming up (childhood friends to lovers + second chance….fair warning, this one made me cry) BUT OBVIOUSLY U DONT HAVE TO READ THESE, im just throwing out suggestions 🫣

so like,,, tell me why i finished both the first and second book… i think i already told u abt the first book?? about how i gave it 2.7 stars bc i fucking hated the plot and the third act and the ending … but skye…. I KNOW IT’S CRINGE AND PREDICTABLE AND NOT REALLY THAT GOOD, but this book had me kicking my feet and giggling over EVERYTHING… the slow burn… was so good… OMFG i literally hate that i loved it sm like cant keep succumbing to booktok. but yeah, ngl i was blushing the entire time T-T it was sooo long tho. the slowburn was slow as fuck, like i dont think it started picking up till halfway through the book ?? but i think i just discovered that i REALLY like the forbidden romance trope 🫡

so i was telling my coworker and all my friends on goodreads that i needed to take a break from the series bc i felt like i was losing brain cells, but…

Let me share some thoughts I have with the class..

I myself have 3 guy best friends two of which track from my childhood. All of my guy friends are currently in relationships with lovely girls and naturally we spend a lot of time together as a group. But lets backtrack a bit to almost a year ago when only 2 of them had gfs (one of which is long distance so she wasn’t present). It was my bday and we hadn’t hung out alone in a while since they got in a relationship so I thought that it was a good chance for us to hang out like old times just the four of us. So when one of them suggested (more like announced) that his gf come with I was a little bummed out. After he realised his “declaration” he then properly asked if she could come with and obviously I could not say no. We ended up having a blast anyway but the thought of not seperating friends with lovers still irks me to this day. And its more so the fact that they hadn’t been together for even half a year at that point. I don’t know if it is just me but I really appreciate it when people put effort into their friendships and its those little moments that count especially to me bc yeah you’re a good boyfriend for prioritising your girl all year round but spend some quality time with your friends too you know? :/ Its been a year now and the amount of times that I hung out with them alone could be counted in one hand, but at this point I’m okay with it since I realised we’re getting older and things are not always going to be the same.

i get that!!!!! ive also had some experiences tthat mirrors this situation, where some of my taken friends invite their s/os to our friends hang 🥲 and even tho most of the time we end up hving a blast, sometimes it ends up being a disaster 🥲 its lowkey uncomfy, esp when u dont know their partners at all and sometimes i find myself asking why my friend invited them over in the first place and wish they just didnt 😭 you want to be nice to your friends s/os!!! unless theres reason not to be. my take on it is that, if u and ur friends cant say no due to formalities, i think the (taken friend's) partner should be the one to initiate inviting themselves out but thats just my opinion lol

but in the case of tlp, jk, just like u, couldnt say no!! and oc.. well i dont really think she thought well enough about it. shes just so blinded by her infatuation (early stage of relationship jitters and giddiness) that i think she overlooked some boundaries. the rest of the gang discussed it too (the on call room scene). but yeh, everybody makes mistakes, and tlp!oc will soon realize this in part 3, dw

Fanon greatly tends to exaggerate Allura and Shiro’s reactions to finding out Keith is Galra and I am tired of the character assassination!!

This is a great overview of Shiro and Allura’s complicated feelings about the Galra that I think many would benefit from reading as a reminder of what is canon.

I also 100% believe the exaggeration of Allura’s feelings is both racist and misogynistic in how it’s used to paint her as evil or violent to make a white* character her victim in need of comforting. Both she and Shiro are used as whump material for Keith at the expense of their characters.

*Keith was retconned as Asian years after the show ended in a tweet, but within the show he is only ever racialized as Galra. While I fully support Asian Keith headcanons and now canon, there is 0 indication of it within VLD itself and he was likely intended to be written as a white character.

You already went over stuff with Shiro (and I’m less familiar with fandom’s treatment of him so I can’t add to that), but to elaborate on Allura’s reaction, she basically just brushes him off for a couple episodes and says a few snappy things. That’s it. And those are incredibly reasonable reactions to finding out someone had (even unintentionally) been hiding a secret linked to previous trauma of betrayal from you after putting a great amount of trust in them. Do not forget that Allura grew up with the Galra as allies and dear friends of her father.

It sits so wrongly with me that fans of particular characters- if you've had any interaction with the wider fan base, you can probably guess who- will weaponize Shiro and Allura's trauma against them to paint them in an unflattering light.

Allura's prejudice against the Galra following the destruction of her home planet and attempted genocide of her people is meant to be a character flaw. She ultimately learns that not all Galra are as corrupt and bloodthirsty as Zarkon as a byproduct of Shiro's willingness to put his faith in Galra allies, even after everything that the Galra soldiers under Zarkon's command subjected him to, and willingly works alongside Kolivan and Antok, trusting them not to betray or harm her.

A teenaged genocide survivor having misgivings about members of the species that betrayed her father and annihilated her home world and her people's culture does not make her a "bitch". No matter how difficult it is to watch her be cold and mistrusting with Keith for the handful of episodes prior to her overcoming this trauma-induced flaw.

And, Shiro is not her equally prejudiced "attack dog" who is perfectly willing to turn on his closest friend on a dime, once it comes to light that said best friend shares the blood of the species that brutalized and attempted to break him.

A good chunk of the conflict in Shiro's Escape, an episode I'd wager most of this particular brand of fans tends to skip, is Allura and the rest of Team Voltron being at odds with Shiro over his implicit, unwavering trust in Ulaz.

If Shiro shared Allura's prejudice, or reinforced it, this tension between them never would have existed.

Do these fans just forget the hug that Shiro pulled Keith into the episode immediately following the "Keith is Half-Galra" reveal? The hug that took place in full view of everyone, including Allura?

Nor has Shiro ever been someone whose go-to response when his amygdala overfires is to flee, prioritizing his own safety over that of his teammates. Even when activated and having flashbacks, his immediate instinct is not flight, or fight, it's freeze.

He poses more of a risk to his own safety than anyone else's, and that's putting aside his propensity for sacrificing himself to give someone else a fighting chance.

Once again, I must reiterate that I am not the Fandom Police and people can write whatever they wish. I just hate how some fans feel that the only way to build their favorites up is to tear other characters down in a manner completely insensitive to trauma survivors who display some, perhaps less than "palatable", symptoms.

I've been online long enough to know that it's too much to expect character bashing to ever completely cease to exist. But, I do wish it would be tagged appropriately. Especially when it involves warping two genuinely good, innately self-sacrificing, and heroic characters who battle consistently not to allow their trauma to break them, to the point that they're unrecognizable, all while using the personal experiences that left them with their indelible scars as some sort of sick justification.

Nesta fans and Tamlin fans go in CIRCLES trying to defend their behavior or villianize the IC! “Feyre’s pov is biased” “Feyres said she’s like Nesta and has been mean too!” “they’re sisters it was sisters just fighting not verbal abuse slut shaming feyre or bullying!” “Feyre didn’t give tamlin a chance she moved on too fast” “Tamlin and Nesta were never wrong they were!” I don’t even take it seriously anymore. We all know who’s POV is the more trustworthy, at the end of the day the more mature readers will view the characters for who they are written to be in canon. They just create all these biased tales and expect us to fall for it as if it’ll ever change our minds on the two characters. They’re better now, but they deserved their repercussions for previous behavior. You can not like it as a fan of the character but also be mature enough to acknowledge that it was all justified. They got a taste of their own medicine and what now we’re supposed to fully victimize them bc they’re sad about being shut out now? After causing it? Well Feyre has been sad from the abuse and neglect for YEARS so too bad, I’m not shedding any tears over the IC’s behavior toward them at all. And as much as they try to convince our fanbase that Feyre is this or that, or Rhys is this bad guy on the same level as Tamlin, the less seriously I take them. They’ve had these misconstrued opinions for 6 or so years being known for hating the main characters all over. Now it’s time to go call them all out for their Bs and it’s been happening all over. There’s been a lot of Feyre and Feysand support these days and I’m happy to see it! As they should. And should have always been.

agree with what you said, i will never criticize the Ic for how they treated nesta and tamlin when those two characters deserve the hate they received. and tamlin still deserves the hate he gets from the Ic. always and forever. it’s honestly surprising how much ppl give shit to the Ic for being mean to tamlin like…okay? the mf is the reason why two innocent females were brutally murdered and those two souls meant so much to rhysand AND az and cassian. ofc they hate him. and they have every right to that hatred. if they wanna bully him (lol) and make him feel even shittier, im all for it🫡.
