Jazz was, at her core, a pessimist.
Oh sure, she wanted the best outcomes and strived to always see the best in people. But listening to her parents talk about and share crime scene photos of someone who was brutally murdered and who may haunt the place they were headed to while true crime podcasts played instead of road trip tunes as they traveled to whatever graveyard had caught their interest had dulled young Jazz's faith in humanity.
Jazz still had memories of a young her standing in an abandoned insane asylum (or abandoned hospital, or old house, or graveyard, or whatever place they dragged her too) holding a small torch with shaky hands and begging to leave because she was terrified "Can we go? Please? this place is scaring me" only to be told "In a minute Jazzy, we down want the ghost getting away."
They had settled down after Danny was born, choosing to stay in one placed instead of traveling all over the country. She still expected them to unexpectedly announce that they were going on the road again, she had plans in case they did (saying she'd stay behind with the van to take care of Danny was better then both of them getting used as ghost bait) But surprisingly they didn't.
And Jazz was thrilled. Sure, she and Danny were known as the kids of the towns crazy ghosthunters, and sure, she basically had to raise her brother since her parents would rarely leave their lab let alone focus on something not ghost related, and yes, she did have to carefully plan out how to use the family's money so that none of them starved.
But no more sleeping in cheap hotels or their van, no more making friends at playgrounds that she'd never see the next day, no more countless hours spent in places where people died, no more English lessons while on the road. She went to school now, she had friends that she saw more than once, she had a home that wasn't filled with cockroaches and the sounds of a argument from the room next door. She had a semi-normal life.
In this time of normality, she relaxed, she let her guard down. Then Danny died and only came back halfway.
And Jazz was back to being that little girl who was scared of ghosts, only this time she was scared for a ghost.
Danny didn't tell her at first, and even though it hurt she understood, and so while she waited for him to tell her, she planned.
She took job after job, from mowing someone's lawn to working at a checkout. Money had been put aside in bags filled with clothes and a pair of new id that she had gotten from Tucker, ("Just in case our parents get classified as supervillains and we need to flee" She said not giving anyway that she knew of Danny's ghostly problem, Tucker had made the id anyway even if he thought she was joking and did not in fact have a plan should that situation happen) One of their neighbors was willing to let her buy their old car despite her family's driving history. A safe house (more like safe apartment) was bought in the only place that was willing to let a teen buy property, Gotham City.
Danny fought numerous enemies until the only enemy that was left was telling their ghost hunter parents that their son was half dead.
Compared to her, Danny was an optimist, seeing the best in everyone without even having to try like she did. Believing that the best would happen like if he didn't, he would break into a million pieces and not know how to put himself together again.
Even though he was scared Danny believed that their parents wouldn't react badly, Jazz hoped they wouldn't but was prepared if they did.
And finally, after many nights spent wide awake in case her parents tried to rip Danny apart molecule by molecule while she slept, the shoe dropped. Their parents loved them, but their work came first, it always came first. Jazz loved her parents, she truly did, but she loved Danny more. And in the end, that made her choice of driving all the way to Gotham with nothing but their go bags all the more easier.
And that was how Jazz and Danny ended up as the neighbors of one Jason Todd.

Give meee: an Eddie who went into a small little bookshop on an Indie trip and stumbled across an in person fandom meeting.
It's mostly Star Trek, and also mostly women, but the stories they have are nothing like Eddie's ever read.
He's barely a teenager, and already protective of himself and his real identity--but everything he's ever wanted is written down, right here, on a little zine with Kirk and Spock doodled on the cover.
They’re not--it’s not obvious, that they’re what he is, but the story itself is blatant and Eddie ends up being so obviously close to tears, he accidentally outs himself without ever saying a word.
(He also ends up on the mailing list, then being sent home with several hand printed copies of all kinds of zines.)
Eddie would remain on this list well past his third senior year in high school.
Past bats, and Vecna and Steve fucking Harrington.
Flash forward to his first apartment. The tiny one he shares with Steve when they followed Nancy and Robin to college.
Steve knows Eddie’s gay.
Or rather, Steve has been told, but Eddie's still pretty clammed up about it. He's not yet where Robin is, ready to bemoan her loveless existence while draped over their crappy, thrifted couch.
He makes jokes and he flirts and he absolutely says things he shouldn't, but none of it is real.
It's flash. Showmanship.
It's the persona that yes, is him, but Eddie consciously built it. There’s nothing soft or gooey there, nothing anyone can use to hurt him.
So when he comes home and sees that plain, padded envelope with the neatly printed label on the counter, torn wide open and flat without its contents?
 Eddie panics.
His heart thunders in his chest, vision tunneling as adrenaline kicks through him.
He wants to bolt-- should bolt--except ever since he almost died his brain no longer obeys him.
Not when it comes to running, anyway.
Instead it fights him to a standstill, freezing his feet right to the living room floor.
The urge is still there.
To run, and save face the cowards way.
Vanish before Steve could get at a part of him that had once kept Eddie out of Wayne’s trailer for two days, until the old man had hunted him down and made him come home, huffing about how he’d love Eddie no matter what but he better never disappear like that again.
(Which Eddie did anyway, and of everything that happened with Vecna, it’s that he regrets the most. The stories he heard of Wayne putting up posters. Squaring off with angry, too-righteous townies, and--)
A sniffle jerks him out of his thoughts.
Eddie gasps, entirely unsure of when he stopped breathing. Stumbles back and turns, right in time for Steve to come out of his room and amble down their hallway.
One hand rubs at his eyes, and the other is--the other has…
Eddie identifies the cheaply printed, stapled zine immediately. It's one he's wanted to read for a while now, solely because it features a story about Kirk and Spock being stuck in a cave together on a planet that has  bat-like, vicious animals on it.
Kirk gets bitten after something goes wrong with the transporter and, look, it’s carthiatic okay!? Sue a guy for wanting to read a romance about a situation he identifies with!
Steve looks up from the zine and startles.
For a second his eyes go dark and flat, the same way Eddies and Robins and Nancy's and everyone's does when caught off guard.
It's gone in a flash though, Steve visibly relaxing when he clocks that it's just Eddie.
He keeps the zine pressed to his sweater clad chest,  and huffs out a laugh that's half forced and half pure relief.
“Fuck Eds, you scared me! I didn’t know you could be quiet.”
“Uh huh.” Eddie manages, voice sounding totally and absolutely normal and not at all ten octaves higher than it usually is.
They stare at each other for a second. Long enough that Steve's eyebrows crinkle in the middle, which is the first hint that he’s beginning to worry, and Eddie really cannot handle Steve being worried right now.
“What's--” Eddie’s voice cracks and he coughs to recover. “what's that?”
Steve frowns at him for a moment, until Eddie gestures at the zine in his hands.
“Oh!”
Steve holds it up, as if to show it off.
“It's a little book Robin got in the mail. It has a bunch of stories in it. They're normally boring as fuck but this one's from Star Trek.”
Hearing the words ‘Star Trek’ out of Steve’s mouth shouldn’t be weird, not anymore, when Eddie and Dustin have been on a two man mission to nerdify Harrington as much as possible, but it still kicks like a mule to hear him say such things without any prompting.
“You know what Star Trek is?”
“Eddie,” Steve tuts, tongue clicking in his mouth. “everyone knows what Star Trek is. It’s nerd shit, but like, old nerd shit. My grandparents used to watch it when I stayed over. This?”
He shakes the zine, so hard Eddie wants to snatch it away from him.
“This isn't nerd shit. This is excellent.”
Steve gives the zine an appreciative glance and hell, maybe Eddie accidentally walked into another dimension.
He’s been trying to get Steve to read more, rediscover the joys of books the public school system does its best to destroy, but until now Steve hasn’t really taken to it.
Enjoys when Eddie reads aloud sometimes, and has started to bug Robin to do it for him too, but otherwise?
Eddie’s nerve seen him with anything that had the written word on it that wasn’t a cooking or car related magazine.
“Honestly,” Steve’s saying, “I think Robs fucked up, this isn't her style at all. She’s gonna be pissed.”
He eyes the thing appreciatively, like the gift it is.
“I'm stealing it the second she figures that out.” He adds decisively.
“You like it?” Eddie asks.
“Mmm.”
“Even though it's--it's got…Kirk…”
Steve's frowning at him again. “What?”
“It's queer man. It's really queer.”
Steve peers at him, the crinkle back in his eyebrows.
“I know. Wait, how do you--”
And well. It’s now or never.
“It's mine.” Eddie says in a rush.
“No it's not.” Steve scoffs, and okay, maybe this is a dream. Eddie pinched himself twice already, but perhaps a third time would wake him up?
(It does not.)
“it was even addressed to Robin. Well,” Steve has one hand on a hip now, his default position when arguing, “Robbie, but she goes by that sometimes.”
Which Robin does, but not in the fucking mail.
Without a word, Eddie turns and goes for the envelope the zine came in.
Steve follows, invading Eddie’s space to peer over his shoulder (and that’s Eddie’s fault too, that closeness, but he didn’t think it would be turned on him in a moment like this--)
There's a sticker on the envelope’s label.
It’s barely hanging on, half of it curled into the air.  Round and yellow, with little black lines, it becomes immediately obvious that one of Robin's smiley face stickers has migrated again.
They're all over the apartment. Remnants of a phase she went through after she stole a roll of them from her and Steve’s job at a local toy store.
This one had clearly jumped ship from its original spot (likely on the ceiling somewhere), and was now firmly over the E in Eddie's name.
‘Ddie’ still isn't exactly ‘Obbie’  but--
Steve leans around, snatching the envelope up and bringing it close to his face.
Far too close, like he can't read it, eyes squinting as he examines the label--and suddenly Eddie knows exactly what happened.
He laughs, an explosion of noise that's half hysterical and half disbelief.
Steve looks at him.
“What?”
“Oh my God,” Eddie says, one finger jabbing in the air in the vague direction of Steve’s nose. “I told you you needed glasses!”
“I do not!” Steve protests immediately, but his eyes are darting around the envelope.
He’s scrambling to figure out what Eddie’s seeing, trying desperately to find a hole that can prove himself right.
Eddie decides to help him, by plucking the smiley sticker off the envelope.
“See?” He jeers, and shit okay, maybe his life isn’t over just yet. “It says Eddie, not Robbie!”
“You guys have got to start using your government names for this shit.” Steve bitches, but it’s weak.
Eddie feels a grin coming on, and lets it overtake his face.
“So...Kirk and Spock huh?”
“They’re cute.” Steve defends instantly, before sighing his defeat and tossing the envelope on the table.
The zine he keeps in his hands.
Eddie crosses his arms and leans against their rickety table. “Even though they’re both guys?”
“I thought we were past this!” Steve whines. “I went to a gay bar with Robin last weekend!”
Which is news to Eddie.
“You didn’t invite me?” He gasps, feigning hurt by putting a hand over his heart.
Truthfully he still hasn’t fully recovered--is play acting himself, almost, but is rapidly coming around to the idea of Steve appreciating queer fanfiction.
“We did!” Steve rolls his eyes so dramatically his whole head moves. “We absolutely did, You said,”
Here Steve’s voice pitches into a mockery of Eddie’s  that he will not give him points for, even if it is a little hilarious, “Me? At some loser bar? Fuck no, I’ve got a campaign to write. Starbuck, don’t you have homework?”
“I didn’t know that was a gay bar!”
“You did! Robin told you!”
“Okay well, I wasn’t listening!”
“Clearly. I keep telling you we need a fucking--system or, I don’t know, a code word or something!”
“Yeah well, when you wanna make us a safe word for conversations, big boy, you let me know.”
They’re both laughing a little now, this argument veering into familiar territory, with Eddie not really listening and Steve mocking him for it later. (As well as vice versa, with startling regularity.)
“You really like it though?”  Eddie says after the laughter winds down, gesturing to the zine still clutched in Steve’s hand.
“Yeah.” Steve confirms, easy as he’s said anything else. Like this isn’t embarrassing, or almost worse than the time Wayne found Eddie’s porno mags and alphabetized them as a joke.
“It's part of a mail tree. I’m supposed to send it on to the next person when I’m done with it. I make copies though,” Eddie rushes to add, because Steve is now clutching the little booklet to his chest in horror, as if Eddie was about to rip it out of his hands. “If you like I’ll show you my other ones?”
Steve eases his grip, giving Eddie the little smile he makes that makes his stomach flip.
“That’d be cool.”
(Later, Steve pokes at Eddie’s thigh from where they’re both sprawled on Eddie’s bed, Steve having switched the new zine out for one of Eddie’s copies. “Are you going to laugh at me if I ask you to read some of these aloud?”
“Only if you don’t laugh when I ask you to take me to that gay bar.”
“Deal, but on the grounds you’re barred from making fun of my flirting attempts. Robin doing it was bad enough.”
“Well you deserve it if you’re hitting on women at a gay bar, Stevie.”
“I wasn't hitting on women you asshole.” Steve says and oh.
Oh.
Eddie feels the floor drop out from under him for the second time that day.
At least this time it’s not fear that thunders through him, but possibility.)

[ ೀ pucker up, buttercup | itoshi sae ]
Tumblr media
ೀ content: female reader, fluff, sae and reader are adults, pet names (sae’s choice of words are stupid/idiot, calls reader ‘my girl’), alcohol, slightly suggestive at the end. | wc 1.5k | notes: okay did a very quick drabble for sae for christmas !! merry christmas to you guys <3
ೀ summary: being sae’s girlfriend is tough. there’s a lot of things he can’t make time for, and unfortunately this time, it’s you. but somehow, he always pulls through.
Tumblr media
it’s christmas eve and you’re at your company function, looking at the fruits of your hard labour.
the event hall is decked with christmas decorations; stockings lining the walls and corresponding to different names for everyone’s secret santa to gift accordingly, christmas lights surrounding every table, everyone getting their fair share of the catering you’d arranged.
“this is amazing,” your boss gushes as she excitedly throws her arms around you. she’s only a few years older than you, so it’s not all too surprising that she’s always super friendly with you.
“relax on the alcohol, okay?” you joke with her, smelling the liquor already.
she pouts at you, batting her eyelashes. “oh c’mon, are you still upset that your boyfriend couldn’t make it for christmas?”
you sigh, though you keep a strong front, smiling through it. being the private girlfriend of an international soccer superstar is tough; he has to miss holidays and special occasions and more often than not you can’t even get your calls through because he’s just that busy. you’d been excited for this year’s christmas though, because he had said he’d be able to fly back home this time.
but as it turns out, his manager—who so happens to love overworking him—has other plans. so all of that excitement just went down the drain. still, what else can you say to him other than good luck with it? you knew being his girlfriend was going to be tough, but it’s starting to take a toll after feeling like you barely exist in his world.
still, you stare at the message he last sent you.
i love you.
and you go soft. soft, because you know he means it. soft, because despite everything, you believe in the man you fell in love with. the one who gave you your first kiss back in high school, the one who’s so awkward that even initiating to hold hands last time had his entire face beet red. the one who never fails to assure you that in spite of the distance, he’s always still thinking of you.
you fiddle with your necklace, the promise ring sae gave you when you were back in high school sitting around your neck like it always has.
in between all the long distance arguments and the time differences and the i miss you, wish you were here with me, you still find yourself hopelessly in love with itoshi sae. even when your friends say they can’t imagine being in your shoes, even when numerous tabloids love to put models or athletes as your competition, you know there’s still no one else you’d rather be with than him.
“i’m fine, really,” you assure your boss, prying her off of you and then adjusting her so her arm is around your shoulder as you lead her to her stocking. “here, why don’t you busy yourself and see what your secret santa got you?”
you really just want to distract your boss so she wouldn’t accidentally end up throwing you a pity party. all you want to do today is to make it through it, spend the first hour of christmas day rounding up the party and then get home and sleep your day away. it’ll distract you from the absence of your boyfriend anyway.
as you watch your boss happily open up whatever’s in her stocking, you wonder if your secret santa got you anything. (of course, some secret santas are dicks and end up not getting their person anything.) so count yourself lucky when you open up your stocking to find both a gift and a card.
amused, you rip the card out of its envelope, your heart skipping a beat when you see that inside of it, there’s a picture of you and sae as high school kids, beside each other, his face deadpan while you’re grinning from ear to ear, resting your head against his shoulder. the message reads: i love you so much it’s stupid.
you’re still in shock but you open up the little gift box, maroon with a green bow on it. when you see what’s inside, you can’t help but chuckle.
holding it above you, under the light, you can see the words hey, stupid engraved on the side of the fake mistletoe before feeling a warm pair of arms wrapping around your waist from behind, cold lips catching you off guard as they press themselves against yours.
it fills you up inside, takes all the weight off your shoulders. you’ll recognise him anywhere, without having to look or hear, the way his lips feel against yours, how he holds you gently against him, laughing softly against your lips as you pull him closer to you by the collar.
never in your wildest dreams did you expect to see your boyfriend in japan, let alone at your work party of all places, and now here you both are, kissing under the mistletoe.
“woah relax there,” he teases you, pulling away but still holding you close.
he’s here, he’s actually here. his hair’s in a mess, and there are circles under his eyes, but he’s smiling. he’s smiling at you and he’s here with you and you don’t even feel the tears forming in your eyes because you’re too busy relishing in the moment.
“itoshi sae,” you call out to him, your hands patting on his body, his black coat and his scarf are real and he’s here—he’s really here. “i thought you were too busy to come back…”
how long has it been now since you’d last seen him? a year? perhaps longer? he’s been so busy nowadays that you wondered at one point if he would even come back to you at all.
sae sighs, holding your cheeks in his hands as he presses his forehead against yours. “i’m sorry,” he says tensely, shaking his head slightly. “i was away for so long, and i just…” his teal eyes stare into yours, both your eyelashes dancing against one another. “i missed you, and i just wanted to see you.”
you’re laughing in disbelief, still holding him close because you’re just that afraid that this’ll all be an illusion that might soon slip away. “and they just let you off like that? that simple?”
he presses his lips into a firm line, averting his gaze. “let’s just say that they weren’t happy about it but i’m the important one, so…” he smiles, genuinely, putting an arm around. “they don’t have a choice but to let me come home to see my girl.”
turns out, he’d called in a favour to your boss, asked her about christmas plans because he knew from your texts that you were in charge of putting it all together. and then he asked her to put the gifts in your stocking. and you laugh hearing about it, because you’re thinking of how your life could’ve gone a totally different way. you could’ve gotten into a relationship with someone else who wouldn’t do this much for you, wouldn’t make time for you, wouldn’t travel across the world and put their own things down all in the name of meeting you.
“what’re you thinking about, stupid?”
you look into his eyes, shaking your head. “nothing, it’s nothing, i just- i love you, itoshi sae.” you smile, and sae smiles too because he loves how your smile reaches your eyes. and he loves being the reason you smile so he’s going to keep being that—and he makes a promise to himself to make you happy for life. but maybe that’s a gesture for next time. right now, he just wants to spend the rest of the holidays with you.
the clock strikes twelve, and he steals the mistletoe from you, holding it up between the two of you again, wincing from how cheesy it is after he does it, earning a chuckle from you.
“merry christmas, idiot.” and he kisses you again, long and slow and completely oblivious to everyone else that’s there who are staring and clapping—half of them still in awe that the itoshi sae is here and half of them in shock after putting two and two together that he’s your special guy.
“so, you’re gonna be here till new years’?” you ask in between kisses.
sae nods, “at least, why?”
you grin, pulling him by the belt as you lead him out of the event hall. “think it’s time we get home and just spend it between the two of us, yeah?”
sae laughs, letting you drag him along, wondering whether by this time next year, will he be lucky enough to call you his wife?
but when he sees that promise ring he gifted you still nestling snug around your neck, he has no doubt. you’re each other’s for life. and you’re worth every single risk he has to take.

As tumblr fucked up my tags, here a few corrections:
"the" incident (in the 2. tag)
so called "chaos day" (in the 18. tag)
to "protest" and drink alcohol (in the 4. to last tag)
Tumblr media
#since everyone is sharing their stories in the tags here are mine#my school didn't really have incident but rather a few fucked up things over the years#there was one time when the seniors from the school next to ours had their last day#our schools have always been rivals and actual fights have happened often just for going to the other school#frequently these fights ended in the hospital for someone#anyway on that day the rivalry peaked#the other school destroyed blinds from our ground level classrooms which took a year to finally be fixed#also they put a shopping cart in the parking lot of our teachers and filled it with newspapers and then proceeded to burn the entire thing#and just the entire school yard was a mess basically#every senior year designed some form of stone as a memento kinda thing which would be put in the school yard#one from a few years ago got sprayed with graffiti which took a full semester to get rid of bc they couldn't find anything that erased it#i think you can still see it very lightly#anyway all that happened on one day after school ended and everyone went home#the next morning was VERY interesting#that was probably the most interesting incident#funfact: the same senior year ruined their own school as well#because of that their principal forbade the next senior year to do anything fun on their last day#although in my country it's basically a tradition to have a so called which would USUALLY just involve fun stuff#like balloons in the hallways for example or getting students out of class for one hour and playing games in the school yard with music#instead all the next senior year from my rival school could do was illegally drink alcohol off the school grounds#the first people got picked up by the police at 7am that day because they were alcohol poisened and started to break stuff#that was literally an hour before their classes would've started#turned out that they met there at 4am to and drink alcohol because they weren't allowed to have their#funfact number two: that was the same year I was a senior and our chaos day got allowed and we had the time of our lives#it was called one of the best chaos days our school ever had lmao#if you've read all the way until here congratulations#and apoligies for the ramble#cay rambles

————
November 1985
“No.”
“What do you mean no? You just fought an interdimensional being, don’t you want a vacation?”
Lucas wipes both hands down his face, flopping down on the arm of the couch beside where Max sits with El between her knees, tying off one of the two braids she’s trying to make.
“Max, can you help me? Please?” Lucas has been arguing about this for fifteen minutes.
She rolls her eyes, but looks up from her work nonetheless. “Billy.”
The man in question crosses his arms, locking eyes with the redhead. “Maxine.”
Max finishes Eleven’s braid and she hops up to join Will where he’s working on a puzzle. Joyce brought it home from work a few days ago, and it’s been spread out on a card table in the corner of the living room since then. Will couldn’t watch The Golden Girls with Joyce from the kitchen table.
“Just come with us, Billy. We all know you hate it here. It’ll give you a chance to get away for a little while.”
Except that’s not totally the truth. He doesn’t hate it here. Not with you around.
“There’s a pool.” Will looks up, a little shyly, from the puzzle, fingers flipping around a single piece. “At the place Robin found.”
Billy nods, and it’s enough to make Will smile at the acknowledgment.
It’d been Steve’s idea, after everything that happened in July. He thought everyone going on a trip together might be a good idea. Go a little ways out from home, calm down.
You and Billy started going to school, though Billy is still working. He found a job at a record store across the street from Melvald’s that opened after the mall went to shit. It definitely wasn’t his first choice, but it works. And he’s slowly fixing up the Camaro.
Steve had offered to pay for the repairs in full, considering he did most of the damage when he rammed the side of it, but Billy couldn’t handle that. So far Max has only convinced him to let Steve cover the really expensive parts. It hurts Billy more than he’d care to admit—having Steve Harrington give him money.
But he can’t lie, going somewhere away from Hawkins, even just for a couple days, sounds really nice. It’s the group part that’s bothering him. He’s still not used to everyone wanting him to tag along, but apparently major trauma brings people together.
There’s the slamming of car doors, and footsteps running up the driveway before the door swings open, Robin bursting in with a stack of movies in her arms. She’s followed by Dustin and then Steve, bags and keys being tossed every which way.
Billy doesn’t see you for a moment and starts to worry maybe you aren’t coming. He’s already supplying excuses for having to go home, but Steve left the door ajar, and after a moment, there you are.
You look sleepy, footsteps the quietest of everyone else as you carefully push the Byers’ door shut behind you. He watches as you accept a hug from Eleven, overhears her ask, “how did your test go?”
He’s happy to hear you tell her it went well. It’s only after you’ve looked at her and Will’s puzzle and snapped a few more corner pieces in that you make a beeline for the open spot on the couch beside Billy.
When you’ve settled, your knee bumps against his. “Hey.”
He looks at you, a little grin playing at the corners of his mouth. His arms are still crossed, thumb playing with the pendant resting on his chest. A chest surprisingly covered by a sweater, though the sleeves are pushed up.
“Hey. Glad your test is over?”
That sound of his voice makes you smile, and he’s never been so grateful for something, even if it’s just an expression. “Yeah.”
You glance down at the new tattoo on his arm, a dark colored snake wrapping around the skin covering his elbow. You run your thumb across the tail that flicks across his forearm, and Billy relaxes into your touch.
“You have work today?”
Billy shakes his head. You’re glad he had the day off. And you’d tell him so if it weren’t for the sudden bombardment.
Lucas is suddenly standing in front of you, having returned from the kitchen where you think he and Dustin may have been cleaning out Joyce’s fridge.
“Holy shit, thank god you’re here. I need you to convince Billy to go on vacation.”
You glance at Max, assuming she’s already tried. She looks rather annoyed. “Lucas, would you sit down?”
The boy looks at Max, and she glares at him. Clearly he knows better and sits down next to her.
“Billy doesn’t have to do anything he doesn’t want to do,” you finally say.
The man in question turns to face you. You have to lean your head back some because of how close he is.
“Are you going?” he asks, voice quiet and thick with something you don’t know that you’re supposed to notice.
“Y-yeah. I was gonna. Robin only went on about it to me for an hour over the phone last night. I just think it might be nice to get away for a little while.” Billy doesn’t break eye contact with you, and while it makes you a little nervous, it tells you he’s listening.
“And I can watch Max for you if you really don’t want to go. Just make sure she doesn’t kill Lucas or anything.” Max snorts at your response, though Lucas looks at her in panic, already calculating how best to prevent that sort of situation.
Your gaze softens and you fight the urge to reach out and run your thumb across Billy’s cheek.
Please come with us. I want you to go. I want you there, you think. But it’s not what you say. You don’t know how badly he needs to hear it.
“You really don’t have to go, Billy. Not if you don’t want to.”
“But there is enough space, man.” Steve stands behind the couch, handing El a scrunchie he retrieved from her bag. His voice is calm, informative. “If you decide to go. There’s plenty of room, and we’d be happy if you did.”
Billy could make some smartass remark. But he won’t. He knows that Steve is being honest, and that he’s not trying to be a dick. It seems that witnessing the guy who beat the shit out of you almost die not even a year after he moved to town really brings you together.
Billy gives an acknowledging nod. “I’d be very happy if you did,” Eleven says. She loves having Jonathan as an older brother, really she does, but Billy lets her play with his hair. And in her books, that really ups the scale.
He smiles at her, and El considers that a win.
You notice him shift next to you, and then he’s leaning forward to whisper in your ear. “Come with me?” He cocks his head in the direction of the door.
He gets up, assuming you’ll follow him. You always do.
When you’ve shut the door, you move to the porch swing. It’s your favorite spot out here, and Joyce says it makes her happy to see someone use it. She used to sit there with Will in the mornings after Jonathan left for school and read to him. She did the same with Jonathan, but he was a much more fidgety kid, wanting to find something else to do.
Billy lights a cigarette, and you watch where he fidgets with the ring on his middle finger.
He’s standing a little ways away from you so as to not breathe the smoke directly in your vicinity, but you wish so badly that he was closer. You like having him close. The weight of his body next to you, the warmth, how solid his arm feels when it’s pressed to yours or when he slides down on the couch some and it's more so pressed to your side.
“Which part of it are you worried about?” you ask him.
He shrugs. “You really think they want me there? You think Max wants me around?” “Billy, I know she does. And I know that voice in your head is telling you that it’s a pity invite, but it’s not. And, besides…” you trail off, but he’s not having that. He needs you to reassure him.
“Besides what?”
You look up at him. “I want you to go. And yeah, I’ll be sad if you don’t go, but that shouldn’t sway your decision either.” You push your feet against the concrete porch a little harder, and the swing responds to the movement. You move quicker, now feeling very pleased with yourself.
Billy almost laughs at the child-like look on your face, but you look so at home on the swing that he holds it in. A grin escapes nonetheless.
“Say that again.” He stubs out his cigarette in the ashtray either Hopper or Joyce have left outside. He’s watching you again.
“What?” He’s not gonna let you go all shy on him now. He needed to hear that. He needs to hear it.
“You know what.”
“I want you to go.”
“Then it’s settled. Need to get out of this shithole anyways.”
————
The place Steve found is about two hours from Hawkins, with three bedrooms, a shockingly luxurious pull-out couch, and bigger common areas than you’ve ever laid eyes on. Excluding the ones in Steve’s house. In short, the rental is like Hopper’s cabin, if Hopper’s cabin were updated and substantially larger. It feels like the kind of place rich people have to take weekend trips. You’d rather not find out how much Steve is paying for the lot of you to stay there.
Robin takes you on a grand tour while everyone else explores the backyard. Dustin is already determined to climb a tree. One of the rooms has two sets of bunk beds, dedicated to the four boys. “To ensure no cootie-spreading,” Robin proclaims.
She and Steve will share the couch, with Max and Eleven in the smaller bedroom.
Robin stops at the end of the hallway. “Which leaves…”
You and Billy.
You and Billy Hargrove.
Sharing a room.
Sharing a bed.
Speaking of, the man in question brushes past you, setting his bag on the floor at the foot of the bed. Robin takes that as her queue to leave and gives you a thumbs up on the way out. You hope she can feel your death stare on the back of her head, and she knows it, being quick to run down the hall.
“So we’re roomies, huh?” Billy says, gathering his hair at the base of his neck. You hadn’t even realized he had a tie on him, and it takes him finishing off a lazy bun to realize it’s a blue scrunchie. You have to bite your lip to keep from saying anything.
“I can sleep with Max and El, if you want. Or–”
That crease between Billy’s brows forms. “Why would you do that?”
You’ve gone all warm. You’d have to sleep in bed with him. And you sit next to him all the time, but this is different. Isn’t it?
Maybe it’s not so weird. You’re just friends. It’s like a sleepover, right?
“I don’t know, you might not want to sleep together or something.”
He cocks a brow, but you catch the double meaning of your words just in time. “You know what I mean, Billy.”
He sits on the end of the bed, and reaches out for you. You move towards him slowly, but the moment you’re within his grasp, Billy spreads his legs and grabs your waist, slotting your body between them.
“You can go if you really want to. If you think I’ve got cooties or somethin’ and you don’t wanna share a bed with me.”
You snort, and Billy drinks in the sound, knowing he’s the one that made you laugh.
“I don’t think you’ve got cooties.”
You realize in that moment that his hands haven’t left their spot on your waist, never straying anywhere else. The weight of them on you is enough to keep you focused on him, and he seems to acknowledge that.
“Then what is it?” he asks, in that low drawl you fear could get out any answer he wanted from you.
You hesitate, but say it anyway. “You don’t think it’ll be weird? Sleeping in the same bed?”
Billy fights the urge to rest his forehead against your stomach. He wants to tell you he’s wished you were in his bed on more than one occasion. Sometimes he just wishes you were there so it wouldn’t feel so cold, so he’d have someone to pull him out of his thoughts before they eat him alive altogether.
“No, I don’t think it’ll be weird.”
You nod your head, and try to move back from him.
Billy whines. “Uh uh. Nope.”
You go to put your hands on your hips, and they graze Billy’s on the way. He grabs hold of them. “You don’t want to have a sleepover with me?”
Billy’s looking up at you with those watery blue eyes, and you know this is a battle you’ll never win.
“Really?”
He lets out a breath of a laugh, and your eyes fall to his neck when he tosses his head back.
“Yeah, baby.”
Baby.
It feels like every cell in your body has been sent into overdrive, like you can’t compute a single coherent thought. All because Billy called you “baby”.
And if he’s being honest with himself, he feels the same way. He hadn’t meant to say it. It’s just that he calls you “baby” in his head all the time, and it just…happened.
“I’d love to have a sleepover with you, Hargrove.”
“Mhm. Thought so.”
This time he lets the laugh out, and it’s a beautiful sound. The kind of sound you’d commit unspeakable acts to hear again. And this time, he does let his forehead drop to rest on your stomach. It surprises you, but you’re not mad about it.
“Oh, fuck off,” you say, and you can feel his chuckle against your skin.
When he quits, you find yourself just standing there, find your hands moving around his back. He’s always so warm. You rub your hands up and down his back, the denim of his jacket rough on your fingertips.
You feel him shift, feel his change in position, the hard press of his chin against you. Billy is looking up at you, and you know he’s hoping you’ll return his gaze. His eyes bore into yours, and you hate to think of what you must look like from this angle. Clearly he doesn’t mind.
You push a curl behind his ear, a shockingly perfect ringlet that’s too short to be contained like the rest of them.
Billy would be taken aback by the gesture if it weren’t for the fact that you always go this easy on him. Like you know he’s healing, in more ways than one.
“We can’t stay here forever, you know. I wanna go look around.”
“Yeah,” he laughs. “I’m sure it’s riveting.” He lets you go anyway, following you down the hall to the rest of the cabin.
————
Your back rests on the base of an oversized chair, one that’s surprisingly comfy, your body in between Robin’s legs. She’s sitting next to Steve, watching you moderate El, Lucas, and Will play Twister. Dustin’s already out.
“Right hand blue.”
“You’re kidding right?”
“Sinclair, have you never played this game before?”
Lucas scoffs, trying to reach the blue on the other side of the mat without toppling into Will. Max went with Billy to the store, but they should be back soon. You have a sick feeling they’re taking advantage of having been given Steve’s debit card.
“Yes, I’ve played the game before. If you’re so good, why don’t you get down here and show us how it’s done, Harrington?”
“Yeah, Harrington, why don’t you show us how flexible you are?” Billy’s voice makes you look up from where you’ve been mindlessly twisting the spinner on the board around with the tip of your finger.
He stands just inside the living room, holding the door open with his leg. He kicks it shut once Max has made it in. She heaves the paper bags she’d been holding up and onto the counter. Steve rises to help unpack them. You follow on instinct, handing the spinner to Robin instead, and Dustin is quick to take Steve’s spot before Mike can.
Billy won’t let you take anything from him, but he will let you help figure out what the hell to do with all of it. “Do I even want to know how much you both spent?” you ask.
He gives you that fucking smile, and you know you don’t. “Max said she wanted to have a spa night–whatever that means–with El, so we sort of split up. I’m sure Steve’ll live.”
“For your information, Lucas,” Steve continues, clearly not ready to let the quips towards his limberness go, “I was the captain of the swim team.”
“What’s that got to do with being flexible, dingus?” Robin directs the two remaining players, the young boy in question having just busted his ass.
“Swimming is an art form, Rob. You gotta learn to respect it.”
You choke on a laugh, and Billy is quick to rub your back while he chuckles into your shoulder.
“Something funny over there?” Steve questions.
You straighten, trying to wipe the smile from your face though it’s to no avail. “Nope, Steven. I’m sure you’re just incredibly stretchy. Like Mr. Fantastic.”
His brow furrows. “Mr. Fantastic?”
Dustin snorts, elbow deep in a bag of chips, and you quickly realize that you probably shouldn’t have given him an opening, but you don’t exactly regret it either.
The lot of you spend the rest of the night in this fashion, playing games, eating way too much food, taking turns smacking the top of the television so your movie will keep playing.
It feels like home. It feels safe. You wish it always felt this way.
————
You’d just finished brushing your teeth when you hear the bedroom door click shut, hear footsteps you can tell are in search of you.
You peek your head out of the bathroom and Billy grins at the sight of you in pajamas, a smear of moisturizer on your forehead you’ve yet to rub in.
He squeezes in the small room, about the same size as his at home, to join you. There’s something about this moment, the domesticity of it, that makes your heart swell. It feels like something you could get used to, getting ready for bed with him. Neither of you have to say anything, you just do your own thing, but having him be there, having his presence–it’s more than enough for you.
When you climb into bed, you try and read for a while, the sounds of Billy washing his face comforting you. You find it easy to read even when he does get in with you, the mattress sinking underneath his weight, the sheets rustling as he moves around experimentally, trying to get comfortable in a bed that isn’t his own.
You feel odd though, reading when he’s right there, so it isn’t long before you close the book and slide further into the covers with him. Billy’s quick to turn on his side, wanting to see you like this.
He watches you yank the blankets up to your chin, looking at him over a blur of fluffy white comforter. “It’s fuckin’ freezin’ in here,” you tell him.
“C’mere then.”
You burrow further into your pillow, fearing you know exactly what he’s going to suggest. “Huh?”
“You’re cold. You always whine about me being warm or somethin’ and I’m telling you to come here.”
“Billy.”
“Stop.” He lifts the covers up some, untucking you from them, and he wraps his arm around your back, tugging you into his side.
Suddenly you’re pressed against him, having slid across the sheets easier than you’d have imagined.
He’s let go of you, his arm hovering over your back. “You want me to hold you or no?”
“Yeah.”
Billy lets his arm drop against your side, his fingers splaying out over your back. He rubs his hand up and down your spine, hoping it’ll warm you up. “This okay?”
“Yes.”
He nods. You’re looking at him like he’s something special.
Billy realizes, in that moment, that that’s how you’ve always looked at him. Even before.
He also realizes that your hands are tucked under your chin and your legs are curled up and into you like you’re afraid of making any contact with him.
“You can loosen up, you know. It’s just me.”
You let out a breath of a laugh, and he can feel it against the skin of his neck.
“It’s okay, I promise. You can touch me.” Billy has this feeling that you’re afraid of hurting him. He’s sure you’ve noticed that he’s wearing a shirt to bed, something he never did before. And he thinks that you’re worried he’ll break.
“You’re sure?”
“Wouldn’t have said so otherwise.”
He watches you unfold your hands and stretch your arm over him, hooking it around his hip. You want to rub up and down his side, but you’re nervous.
It’s just me.
“Do they hurt at all?”
Your thumb skates up a little further, and you don’t have to tell him what you mean.
“Not all the time,” he says, voice low and thick with drowsiness. “At first, yeah, like hell. Now it’s just sometimes. They can feel a little tight, or just bug me. Depends, I guess.”
You nod, feeling brave enough now to slide your hand up a little further. Your touch is light, barely there. You close your eyes, trying not to think about when it happened. How he’d screamed.
He can tell when you’ve calmed down some, because your arm relaxes and you hug him a little more firmly. You scoot in a little closer, close enough that your noses would touch if you tried to make them.
“Goodnight, Billy.”
He makes the move, dragging the tip of his nose across your forehead. He kisses the top of your head, and you grin so wide you feel like a kid in a candy shop.
“Goodnight, baby.”
————
When you wake up, you almost don’t want to disturb him, but you know you should get out of bed.
Billy is sprawled out on his stomach, having separated from you at some point during the night. His tank top is rucked up from the tossing and turning of sleep, and you look away when you catch a glimpse of pink skin. It doesn’t feel like your place to look.
You wander out of the room, carefully shutting the door behind you. You make it down the hall, and find that Robin seems to be the only other one awake. You should’ve guessed. She told you once before that her body doesn’t seem to let her sleep in.
Steve is still passed out on the pull-out couch, completely covered by the blankets. The only sign of him is a tuft of messy hair against the light colored pillow case his head rests on.
Robin waves at you from her perch at the kitchen counter, a bowl of cereal in front of her. “Want some?” she whispers, pushing the box in your direction.
You fill up your own bowl, having a feeling that Robin is about to ramble.
“Sleep okay?” she asks.
“Mhm. You?”
“Fine. Though, y’know, Steve is a horrific bed hog. Seriously, he was half on top of me the whole night. I might have to bunk with Max and El.”
You laugh, and Robin takes that as her queue to ask what she’s been pondering since she woke up.
“Was it okay? Sleeping with Billy? Well, not like that. Well, I’m assuming not like that, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I just meant like actually sleeping? Please stop me.”
You grin at her. “Please breathe, Rob.” She does, over exaggerating her inhales. “And it was fine.”
“Okay, good. I was kind of worried you’d be frustrated with my matchmaking tendencies. I just really want you two to be happy. And he seems so calm when he’s with you, and I realize I’ve just told you that I’ve been pushing you two together and I–”
You wipe milk from your chin, having almost spit out your cereal. “Robin, sweetheart, it’s okay, I promise. I know about your matchmaking tendencies. But I think we’re just friends, right?”
“Just friends, my ass.” You hadn’t even seen Steve get up, but he’s reaching for the fridge and pulling out a carton of chocolate milk. He really can’t say anything about Dustin’s eating habits when he has the exact same diet.
“Oh my god.”
“Listen, I’m just saying, there’s been something going on between you two since before the world went to shit. I don’t know why you two tiptoe around each other like it’s not obvious that you’re in love.”
“Steve!” you exclaim. “Seriously, what the hell? I’ve been up for like twenty minutes and you two are schooling me on my love life?”
“Or lack thereof,” Robin says.
“Okay, damn. You know what, I’m going back to bed.”
Steve pushes your bowl back towards you when you attempt to get up. “No, you’re not. I’m just saying, there’s no sense in avoiding this. You both clearly feel a lot for each other, and I don’t see any reason to avoid it when you could be together.”
He’s being vulnerable with you, his big brown eyes boring into yours and trying to convey how serious he’s being.
“Just think about it, okay? There’s no harm in talking about how you feel with him. And don’t say that you don’t feel anything, because that’s a goddamn lie.”
————
Billy’s had his swim trunks on all day, but he hasn’t done more than sit in the shade by the pool while everyone else makes a mess and plays ridiculous games in the water.
It’s killing him to watch you in there from time to time, swimming around or sitting in the shallow end. You told him once that swimming calms you down.
It’s not until after dinner, when everyone has moved inside for the most part, though there seems to be the plotting of a water balloon fight out front, that he’s brave enough to head for the pool.
You follow him out there, see him contemplating the water.
“Whatcha doin’?”
Billy drops the cigarette he’d been smoking, snubbing it out. “Thought about going for a swim,” he tells you.
“That sounds nice.”
“Mhm.”
“I can go back inside, if you want.”
Billy turns to face you. “No. No, I want you to stay.” He wants you to see. He can’t explain why, but he does.
“Okay.”
He takes a shaky breath, hoping you don’t catch it. You do. You always do.
“I just…wasn’t ready for everyone to see.”
“I understand, Billy.”
You know what he’s really saying. He wasn’t ready for everyone to see. But he’s ready for you to see.
“I can get in first, if that helps. And I won’t look if you don’t want me to,” you say.
“That helps, yeah. And you can look. It’s okay.”
He watches you wade in, watches the way your swimsuit changes color as you tread water.
Billy takes another deep breath, and he’s pulling his shirt off. He’s quick though, diving straight into the deep end, knowing he needs to get it over with.
When he comes up, his hair is sticking to his forehead, and he flips it out of the way, giving you a glimpse of the broad pink scar on his chest.
He meets you halfway, and you think he’s in a serious mood until he’s splashing you like a child.
“You motherfucker!”
You get him back, and he’s laughing.
Billy is laughing and he looks so pretty in the last of the day’s sunlight, beads of water sliding over his collarbones and down his arms, and you feel like you could die. Like seeing him this way is enough. You don’t need anything else.
You try to return a particularly aggressive splash, but he catches your waist, pulling you up and over his shoulder.
“Billy!”
“What?” His voice is teasing. He tosses the rest of the way over, your laughter fading out into the water.
You come up, a brilliant smile on his face. Billy’s sure if you stood close enough you’d be able to hear his heart beating.
When you’ve both gone quiet, your eyes drop to the scars on his sides, the way they stretch across his skin, mean and twisting. Some spots are darker than others, and while it hurts you to look at them, you know it must hurt him even more. But he looks just as beautiful as before, if not increasingly so.
“See something you like?” Billy says it on instinct. To hide the fact that he’s worried you don’t really like it. That maybe you think he’s gross looking. But he knows that’s all in his head. He fucking knows it.
“You’re fucking gorgeous, Billy Hargrove.”
You say it with such surety, such admiration, that he can’t even begin to doubt that you mean it.
He smiles at you. It’s boyish. You’d do anything to see a million more of them.
He moves towards you, the sky having darkened enough that the outside lights have come on, the lights in the pool too. All that remains of the sun is a slash of deep orange, though the night quickly pushes it away.
Billy’s got you backed up against the wall of the pool now. His hands find your sides.
It’s overwhelming, having him this close. You can feel his breath on your face, see the rise and fall of his chest, the freckles on his cheeks.
When he kisses you, you think your heart stops. His mouth is warm against yours, and he tastes a little like chlorine, but you don’t care. Your hands find his face, and you’re smiling so hard that he pulls away because he wants to see. You don’t let him for long though, pulling him back, wanting more. He laughs into your mouth, and your chest aches with this feeling.
Eventually you do let go, and when you hold his eye contact, he knows what you’re going to say. He needs to tell you first, though.
“I’m in love with you, you know.”
“I know,” you respond.
He tosses his head back in a laugh, and you press a sweet kiss to his throat.
“I’m in love with you too, Billy.”
“Damn right you are.”
You snort against his chest, lowering slightly to kiss his scar. His breath catches. He doesn’t know what he did to deserve you.
“About fucking time!” Steve’s shouting and Robin is yelling, and Max would be making barf sounds if she wasn’t so pleased with seeing her brother so happy.
“So much for that,” Billy says.
But you wouldn’t have it any other way.
————
“I’m regretting this, Billy.”
“Stop whining.”
Billy wraps his arms tighter around your back, pressing a kiss to your jaw in hopes that you’ll let him keep doing this.
“Get off.”
“No.”
“Get off, please.”
“Make me.”
There’s the sound of a slap, your hand having met his ass.
He raises his head from where he’d buried it in your chest, looking at you drowsily. “You just spanked me.”
And you’d do it again.
“Didn’t work, did it?”
“No. Shut up and take it.”
By that he means continue letting him lay on top of you, his entire body pressed to yours. It doesn’t matter to him that there’s an entire bed, one that’s made for two people.
You settle for playing with his hair, something he seems to enjoy, and you’d mess with him about the fact that he’s essentially purring if it weren’t for him looking so content.
He might be heavy, but having Billy Hargrove sleep on top of you isn’t exactly something you just give up.
He’s never had this before.
Hell, you’ve never had this before.
And he thinks it’s healing him. More than the salve he puts on his scars, or the physical therapy, or fixing up the Camaro.
You’re healing him. You.

shit talkin' up all night
for @steddiesongfics song 'for the first time' by the script
rated m | 1,469 words | cw: alcohol, arguing | tags: angst with a happy ending, established relationship, robin buckley deserves an award for saving their relationship everyone say thank you robin, they're in love, eddie is just dumb for a bit
◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️
The arguing started when Steve suggested they move back in with Wayne.
They were struggling; Eddie wasn't an idiot, he could see the told his unemployment was taking on their financial situation. They were able to cover rent from Steve's paycheck, but they had to cut back on literally everything else. No more date nights, no more trips to visit Dustin, no more buying the good bacon for breakfast.
It wasn't for lack of trying, it's just that Eddie only had a GED and no marketable skills outside of playing music. Any job he could get would make miserable.
"I just think if we take some time to save up, maybe you'll be able to find something you like and then it'll be better," Steve shrugged.
"I'm not moving back in with Wayne. He did enough for me already."
"Then I'll get another job."
"No, you're not working two jobs. I'll just...go work at the McDonald's."
"Eds, you would hate it there."
"Well, it's a paycheck."
Steve sighed and walked away.
And then it got worse.
Eddie did find a job. He worked part time at the music lesson school. It didn't pay nearly enough, but it was something.
Until one of the parents found out he was working there and threw a fit and he got fired. The owner apologized, but said if it came down to his business and Eddie, he had to let Eddie go.
Back to square one.
Steve was too understanding. It was frustrating.
Eddie started arguments just to make him mad.
Whatever would push him: leaving all the dirty dishes in the sink, staying out late without letting him know, buying the good bacon for breakfast when it wasn't in the budget.
It did start to work eventually.
"Why are you doing this?" Steve asked eventually, after two nights of Eddie coming home late for no other reason than to make Steve upset. He hadn't even done anything, just walked around downtown for a couple hours and thought about how much of a failure he'd been.
"I'm not doing anything," he'd say back.
Steve would push.
Eddie would push back.
Little things turned into big things.
And then Eddie came home drunk.
He hadn't even been to a bar, he hadn't been with anyone else. He'd gotten one six pack of beer and realized halfway through it that he hadn't eaten all day and kept drinking anyway.
The buzz was great until he was stumbling through the front door, waking Steve up from his half-slumber on the couch of the apartment.
Steve didn't even argue. He just shook his head and went to their bedroom, closing the door and making it clear he didn't want to be around Eddie.
The next morning, Steve was already gone when Eddie managed to roll off the couch.
"Steve's not gonna say it, so I will," Robin's voice made him trip over his boots on the floor. She was sitting in the armchair, glaring at him. "You're pushing him away because you don't think you deserve someone who is patient and loving. He used to try that shit with me, with the kids, with Hopper. Started shit just to see if we'd leave. Pretended he was the only one who could deal with his problems."
Eddie blinked back at her, vision blurry from sleep and unshed tears. He wasn't gonna cry in front of Robin.
"I could understand why he did it. He had shitty parents and shitty friends before all of us. Took him some time to get used to being cared for." Robin leaned forward. "But you've had Wayne for a long time. Us. Steve. So what is it that's causing this? Why are you hurting Steve? Why are you hurting yourself?"
Eddie had been to therapy for a month or so after everything. The government insisted on it. He'd even done what they asked of him. Talked about everything that happened, talked about his childhood, talked about being gay in a town that thought being gay was bad enough to send you to hell, but somehow still the least of Eddie's crimes.
The therapist told him it seemed like he was always preparing himself to get hurt, even with the people that he did trust. That was the last time he went to the therapist.
"Because this is all I'll ever be, Robin! Steve should get out while he can, find someone who isn't fuckin' useless. Someone who can get a real job or go to school or something."
"Is this because you can't be on your feet for more than a couple hours?"
Eddie was silent.
"Do you think that means you can't do things? Do you think Steve wants to watch you suffer more than you already have?"
Eddie shook his head once.
"Then here's what you're gonna do. You're gonna shower and clean up the house a little. You're gonna cook that chicken dish Steve loves so much because I went to the deli to get fresh ingredients for you. You're gonna open that bottle of wine I did not steal from Chrissy's restaurant. You're gonna talk to him."
"Okay."
"And then tomorrow, you're gonna come interview for a job at the museum. They're opening a new exhibit called Rock Through The Ages and they're looking for someone to do tours. It's four hours a day, five days a week. Pay is more than you made anywhere else plus tips. Interview is a formality, they already know you're qualified."
"Robin, I-"
"And you're gonna shut up. I love you, too, Eddie. And I love that dingus who loves you. So get your shit together so you can both be as happy as I know you can be."
Eddie hugged her for a long time, probably much longer than Robin would have ever allowed him to if it weren't for the circumstances.
He cleaned himself up, he cleaned up the apartment, he cooked dinner, and he opened the bottle of wine.
Neither of them were big fans of wine, but this was a $100 bottle. Eddie would drink every last drop.
When Steve came through the door at 4:39 on the dot, just like he did every week day, Eddie was holding a glass of wine out to him with a small smile.
"Eds? What's this?"
"Been a while since we've had a date night. Thought maybe we deserved it."
Steve stared back at him blankly, then let out a sob and walked over to him, burying his face in his neck.
"Sh, it's okay, sweetheart. I'm right here," Eddie wrapped him up in his arms, kissing his head. "I'm here."
"You promise?" Steve's broken voice nearly tore Eddie in two. How had he let it get this bad?
"I promise, Stevie. I'm sorry I've been somewhere else in my head."
Steve pulled away, sniffling and looking around the room as he realized that dinner was already set out on the bar and the dishes were done.
"You did all this for me?"
"For us."
"Is that chicken cacciatore?" Steve walked to the plate in his usual spot and smiled. "You made this?"
"I did. Hopefully it's edible. If not, I already have the menu for the Italian place down the road by the phone," Eddie pulled Steve's chair out for him and then sat down next to him.
They talked through dinner, mostly about Steve's day, and then about Eddie's. He brought up the interview and Steve beamed like the sun.
"That sounds perfect for you, Eds."
"I know. I think it'll be great."
The bottle of wine went down easy. Maybe a little too easy.
By the time they realized it was gone, they were giggling and leaning on each other, cheeks red and eyes glazed over with a buzz that was more than just the high alcohol content.
Steve leaned in to kiss him.
Eddie leaned in to kiss him back.
And for the first time in a long time, they stayed up all night, talking, kissing, touching in ways they'd nearly forgotten how to do.
When Eddie got the job, he sent Robin flowers. Nothing fancy, the pay wasn't that good. But he had to thank her for getting his head out of his ass and his ass in shape.
Steve didn't ask when he saw the bill for it, just smiled and kissed the top of Eddie's head while he got ready for his first day of work.
"I love you. Good luck today," Steve said as he fixed his glasses before grabbing his keys to head to his job at the youth center downtown.
"Love you too. Pizza tonight?"
"Sounds good, love. Wine?"
Eddie nodded towards the bottle of $3 wine from the liquor store.
Steve laughed. "I'll grab some Tylenol on my way home."

Always an Angel - Paul Lahote
Ok, I've been obsessed with the lyric “Always an angel, never a god for a few days now. I don't know why all of a sudden but it's been all I can think about. I know there are a bunch of literal interpretations but I look at it as a version of “always the bridesmaid, never the bride”, always the side character, never the main character. So I hope this comes across how I want it to lol.
Also, the timeline is kinda messed up in this, just live in ignorant bliss and ignore it pls, and thank you!
---------
Always the option, never the priority.
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.
Always the lover, never the loved.
Always the fighter, never the fought for.
Always an angel, never a god.
------------
You were used to being sidelined, looked right through.
No matter what you were doing, or who you were with, you were never the main focus.
Growing up boys never spared you a glance, your best friends being the main targets for their glances and flirty remarks. You were never the one asked to dance, always the one asked to hold a friend's purse or bag. If the car was full on the way to get ice cream, you were always the one that was going to be left out. You never learned inside jokes and standing alone at parties, you didn't even know why you went, it's not like anyone would notice if you left anyway.
At night when you would break and confide in the one person you knew truly loved you she would always question why you remained friends with the people that caused you so much pain. And through your blubbering, you would look at her like she was crazy. Explain to your mother that it must have been too long since she was a teenager. Because that's not how it works. Living in a small town the pool of potential friends is small, and having friends that treat you horribly is better than having no friends at all.
You would apologize to her years later, after maturing, and realizing that the remarks you directed towards her were uncalled for. The anger you threw her way was misguided and unfair. She didn't deserve the way that you treated her.
When Bella Swan moved to town you thought everything was going to change. She was from a big city, you didn't know much about Phoenix but you knew they probably didn't harbor the same small-town mindset that Forks did.
She had no clue who you were. She didn't know the unspoken reputation that hung above your head like a storm cloud.
And at first, you were right.
The two of you became friends quickly, Bella taking a liking to your quiet demeanor, such a drastic change from Jessica and her goons.
Your friendship appeared surface-level, to everyone but the two of you. In school, you both kept to yourselves and didn't talk much, even to each other. You would drag her along with you when you gathered the strength to hang out with your old friends. But you didn't do that often, seeing as they saw her as a shiny new toy and didn't treat her as a second-class citizen.
But after school the two of you would talk, your friendship would come alive in the comfort of your own homes, and you two would look like actual teenage girls and not two seventeen-year-olds who should be on the highest dose of Lexapro.
She was the first person that you saw as a true friend, that was until she committed, in your opinion, a cardinal sin.
Bella had gone off the deep end and you hadn't seen her in days. But that was normal, she would spiral, skip school, and then show up as if nothing happened. So you weren't concerned, sent her a few texts checking up on her and getting one-word responses back. Then the following Monday came around. You were waiting by your truck, lazily twirling your hair, eyes glazed over as you dissociated waiting for the bell to ring.
But amid your dissociation, you were pulled back to reality when a shiny black Volvo came to a screeching halt a row over. You knew who drove the expensive car so you tried to be as nonchalant as possible as you peered over your shoulder to get a good look at the owner.
You wished you hadn't.
Because getting out of the passenger seat was the person that you considered your best friend. Your best friend was sitting in the passenger seat of the car of the guy you had a crush on since he arrived at Forks High School.
She knew about your long-standing crush on Edward, she was the only person other than your mother who you had told. It came tumbling off your tongue one late night about a month after she had arrived in town. And you had sworn her to secrecy, begging her to never tell another soul.
But now it seemed to not matter, she had broken your trust and your heart.
------------------
The next year drug on. With Bella being completely infatuated with Edward you were left to crawl back to your old friends. They accepted you with barely open arms, reluctantly saving you a seat at the lunch table, sometimes sending you the location for Friday night activities.
When the Cullen clan abruptly left Forks Bella did to you exactly what you had done to your friends months earlier. Part of you didn't know why, but you let her back in, although this time keeping her at an arm's length away, never fully trusting her,
Eventually, however, Edward came back. First making his appearance walking hand in hand with Bella in the dreadful hallways of Forks High School after she had disappeared yet again for a few days with not even a courtesy text.
This time seeing them together didn't feel like a hot knife was piercing your skin. How could it, you no longer felt the same that you had for Edward. Because he had proven himself to be just like everyone else. He made you feel invisible.
------------
The heat of late spring had arrived and you took in all the warmth that you could as you walked down the small rocky path to the mailbox. Graduation had come and gone and you found yourself in isolation. The people you had forced yourself to be friends with in high school no longer mattered. You didn't have to play the uncertain game of high school politics anymore. Starting university was on the horizon and while you dreaded leaving the comfort of home you were excited, this was going to be your chance to reinvent yourself. You were no longer going to be the person no one cared to look towards.
Pulling out the various envelopes you felt your heart stop beating when the light lilac envelope was pulled to the front. You knew what it was, you didn't even have to open it. But you did, ripping it open, praying that you hadn't torn apart the coveted invitation. Sure enough in bold letters, you read “Edward Anthony Masen Cullen and Isabella Marie Swan request your presence…”.
The phone call with Bella that night was awkward. You haven't talked much since graduation but she assured you that she wanted you to be at the wedding. You had wanted to push and ask her why she was rushing to get married. I mean you along with everyone else knew that they had only known each other for a year and hadn't been dating for the entirety of said year. But she sounded happy, the happiest she had ever seemed. So you didn't say anything, instead prying for details about the impending nuptials.
-------------
Thousands of flowers cascaded down creating a custom perfume in the air. Your eyes darted between the bunches of wisteria and sweet peas and you were in awe. The wedding had snuck up on you. So much had happened over the summer leaving you feeling unprepared to start school in the fall. Leaving you to make one of the hardest choices that you had ever made, deferring your acceptance into your top school to the following fall quarter.
So when you got a reminder on your phone that read “Bella and Edward wedding tmr” you were at a loss for words. I mean you had everything you physically needed, a dress, a present, the right pair of shoes. But you had forgotten one important thing, a date.
It wasn't going to be the first time you had shown up to an event without one, but it was probably going to feel the most embarrassing.
So here you were, standing next to your group of “friends'' from high school as they gossiped about the possibility of Bella being pregnant. “What do you think?”Erik asked you, giving your arm a soft nudge with his. “I don't know guys '. Jessica of course had a counter, pointing out that out of the group you were the closest with her. Luckily before you had to come up with an excuse of why you didn't know for certain the music began, signaling that it was time for everyone to turn their attention to the altar.
A few tears managed to slip down your cheeks as you watched your sometimes best friend say “I do”. In that moment all the turbulent times the two of you experienced didn't matter. You were just happy to be in the presence of two people who were madly in love and confessing it to each other, permanently sealing their love with a dramatic kiss.
The reception area was decorated equally as beautiful. You were grateful that Bella, or more likely Alice had set you close to the dance floor. That way you could watch people without feeling like a total loser, hanging out in the corner by yourself. At least this way you could still enjoy the happiness of the other guests without feeling the gross amount of body heat from the dancing bodies.
The ice was melting quickly in your lemonade, the night had not been rewarded with a cool late summer breeze so you were appreciative of the cool drink. The night had seemingly been going according to plan. Your ‘friends’ had migrated to another table across the dance floor with the excuse of wanting to talk to some of the other guests, but they had not returned in almost two hours so you were holding your breath.
Mentally you were planning your escape plan, glancing at your watch. Waiting for an acceptable time to leave, not too early into the night but not too late that you were leaving only minutes before the bride and groom's big exit. As you granted yourself yet another glance at the heirloom watch you wore and looked back up a gasp unwillingly left your lips.
The mystery man, who looked almost familiar, chuckled at your surprised look. Confidently he took the empty seat next to yours, turning his body to give you his full attention. “May I help you”, you didn't recognize your own words, your tone was a bit rude and you didn't even give him a second to introduce himself after she sat.
“I’m Paul Lahote”.
Once he gave his name to you your eyes moved up to meet him and the electric shock that you felt in your veins almost felt real. There was no doubt blush forming on every inch of your face and you were praying that the low light of the Edison bulbs did a good job at protecting some of your dignity. You gave him your name, barely squeaking out your last name.
Things like this didn't happen to you. A man that looked like him didn't talk to you. A part of you wondered if Jessica or someone like her had already turned him down, because let's face it, you were always the option but never the priority.
“I think you should share a dance with me, no pretty girl like you should be sitting alone at a wedding”. The flare in your cheeks was visible now, you were sure of it. No matter how low the light was you could have sworn a red glow was emitting from your body, like an accusing halo.
“Paul…you don't have to dance with me, I was just getting ready to leave”. Gathering your belongings as you begin to stand up. “No!”. He said, eyebrows raising to the top of his forehead once he realized how loud he exclaimed. Sheepishly he looked around offering small smiles as an apology to a few of the guests who looked at him like he had three heads.
“Please, I noticed you when I walked in before the ceremony and I haven't been able to shake you from my eyeline all night. I don’t think I can take no for an answer”.
The fact that your heart was still caged behind your chest was an act of god. Because at this point it should have flown away due to how hard it was beating. You were at a loss for words. The thought that someone was putting you first, taking interest in you was unbearable. And you were crumbling at his gaze.
His outstretched hand found yours that you slowly had begun to uncurl from against your body. Swiftly he whisked you out onto the dance floor, pulling your body flush to his.
Clumsily your feat matched his falling into routine with his steps, your body swaying in unison to the light melody. He hummed along softly to the quiet music as he kept a firm grip on you, almost like he was afraid to let you go.
The song ended and awkwardly you looked around not knowing what to do. Paul however looked happy as can be, letting go of your hand but keeping the one on your lower back in place. He led you back to the table where you had spent most of the night, pulling out your chair before you could even react. You thanked him as you sunk into the back of the chair trying to ground yourself.
“Man, I feel like the luckiest guy here at this whole damn wedding I got to dance with the prettiest guest of them all”. He said matter-of-factly triumphantly, taking a sip out of the glass he abandoned when he first approached your table. You scoffed, there was no way he was being for real, the alcohol had to have been getting to him now if he was saying such an untrue statement.
“I think you've had enough”. Your voice was shy and your eyes barely peeked through your almost closed eyelids. The embarrassment you hadn't felt earlier had returned and you were suddenly hyper-conscious of everything happening around you.
“Doll this stuff doesn't make me feel anything, you, however, are making me feel alive for the first time”. His drink was abandoned yet again as he scooted his chair closer, invading your bubble, and causing you to squirm under his gaze yet again.
“Paul, I'm flattered but again I think your choices are impaired. There's no way you feel anything like that for me”.
Paul was out of his chair before you could continue your babbling, cutting you off by capturing your lips in his.
After he pulled back for air his forehead rested against yours, the two of you matching your breathing. You were yet again at a loss for words, kissing the hottest boy at your best friend's wedding was not on this year's bingo card. But as per usual it seems Paul had the perfect thing to say, “My angel forgive me if this is forward, but l you need to let me love you, I have a feeling that you're gonna be stuck with me for a long time”.

Could you do David 'Deacon' Kay with wife reader? They always knew what to do if Deac died but they didn't prepare for her. Kinda like Annie when she was sick. Angst but ending with fluff. Thanks!! :))
Tumblr media
Title : "in sickness & in health"
Warnings : hospitals, Reader gets sick, worried Deac, angst with a happy ending,
Summary : You both prepared for what would happen if Deacon died or got sick- but you never planned for what would happen if you were the one to get sick.
A/n : I originally planned for this to have more angst, but I changed my mind halfway 😭 anyway I hope this is what you had in mind and thank you for the request !!
Word count : 616
masterlist
It was just a normal day. Deacon went to work, the kids went to school & preschool. So you were all alone at home.
You cleaned the house up a little since the kids left a mess in the living room after playing with Legos the previous night. You felt slightly off when you woke up but you just brushed it off thinking it was just the nerves at the thought of your husband getting hurt on the job.
After a while you decided to go visit David at work, since you had nothing else to do. That feeling of something being wrong never went away…
Maybe something was seriously wrong.
After parking in front of the SWAT HQ you got out grabbing your bag and walking towards the front entrance. Even if Deacon was probably out somewhere on call you thought it would maybe be nice if you just popped in to say hello. Walking past security the feeling got much much worse. Something was really wrong.
-
And then it all went black, you collapsed onto the floor unconscious. The next thing you could remember was waking up in the hospital with David sitting next to you. He was holding his head in his hand and he was crying. Slowly reaching out, you grabbed his hand squeezing it twice. He immediately looked up in relief since you were finally awake.
“You’re finally awake.” He muttered while standing up and brushing the hair out of your face. “How do you feel?” Deacon questioned you with a worried look on his face. “I feel fine, just a bit tired.” You replied with a tired smile.
Just as Deacon was about to speak the door opened and your three kids ran into the hospital room screaming “MOM!” You just smiled at them while your middle child - Lila ran up to the bed and immediately grabbed your hand while asking you a million questions at once. “Easy Lila, your mom just woke up. So let’s calm down and give her some space okay?”
You just smiled at her while patting the bed next to you, inviting her to sit down next to you. As soon as Lila had climbed onto the bed you pulled her into your lap squeezing her tightly and kissing her forehead. Then your boys slowly approached the hospital bed, upon seeing them you invited them to sit next to you and Lila. Matthew & Samuel immediately took you up on your offer and clambered up onto the bed and sat down next to you, snuggling up to you.
Deacon smiled at the sight of you laying in the hospital bed, with your kids curled up next to you. “I love you mom.” Matthew stated softly while clinging onto you tightly, despite being the oldest Matthew was still very clingy to you. Not that he’d ever admit it outright but it was very obvious.
Everyone knew a health scare like this could lead to serious consequences but it turned out to just be a bad case of the flu. So you had to stay in the hospital for a few days and Deacon never left your side. Your kids would go to school as normal despite their protests that they want to stay with you.
Deacon had made a deal with all three of them that if they went to school as normal he’d buy them ice cream and then they could come visit you in the hospital until it was bedtime and they had to go home and sleep. The kids would always light up as soon as they saw you, while telling you about their days at school and if they had made any new friends.

KIM CHAEWON x FEM!READER
Prompt: Chaewon is the school’s bully so her rules were simple: she’ll bully you. And you’ll let her bully you. That’s it. However for you, that’s never going to happen. What’s better than killing with kindness? FLIRTING.
Warnings/Notes: implied g!p reader, flirty badass reader, bully Chaewon, sexual remarks, suggestive at the end
Tumblr media
You adjusted the one strap of your backpack onto your shoulder as you released a big yawn, tired from the previous day’s baseball practice. As you continued your way down the halls, you noticed the weird stares locked on you.
You couldn’t tell what the stares meant but it made you feel uncomfortable. Your best friends Kazuha and Yunjin ran to your side, their stares just the same as everyone else’s.
“Why is everyone looking at me like I got two heads? Or are they still shocked about me having a dick? I thought we went past that by now” you huffed but Kazuha shoving her phone to your face stopped you in your tracks.
On the screen was the school’s gossip page on X, exposing photos of you naked in the gym showers. It didn’t exactly expose all of you, just your back from the waist up and under the shower head.
“What the—“
“Someone is totally stalking you bro. Like they really want to mess up your reputation” Kazuha said angrily and put her phone down.
You scoffed and smiled, confusing your friends.
“Bro this isn’t funny” Yunjin grumbled but you patted their shoulders.
“They can try and ruin my reputation. I always know how to bite back”
“Hey Y/n, nice shower photos by the way. Never knew how manly your shoulders looked until now” Chaewon said with a scrunched nose, causing her group to laugh in the classroom.
You put down your novel and stretched. “Aw thanks for noticing, babe. Worked hard on them just for you” you winked before going back to reading.
Chaewon’s smile faltered a little but she sat up and cleared her throat, trying not to let your flirty remark get to her head. “N-No wonder why you got no boyfriend. Who’d want to date a girl with a boy’s body?”
Her group laughed again but your gaze never left your book. “That’s because I’m a lesbian with a big dick. I know some girls here dig that. Right Sakura chan?” You tilted your head just to smirk at the Japanese girl, who was also Chaewon’s best friend.
Sakura instantly stopped laughing and looked at her feet with red cheeks.
Chaewon stood up from her seat, not knowing whether her sudden anger is from jealousy or from how annoyingly attractive you looked in your seat.
“Fuck you Y/n! If you don’t want more naked photos, then how about shower in your own home?”
Ok Chaewon had to admit that was the worst insult she could ever come up with but luckily her group hyped her up anyways, making the situation less embarrassing.
Finally slapping your book down, you moved out of your seat to stand in front of Chaewon who was many inches shorter than you were. You glared down at her and she smirked, thinking she finally hit a nerve in you but she wasn’t expecting you to start unbuttoning your school shirt from the top down.
“W-What are you doing?!”
“From all your yapping about my shower photos, it seems like you just wanted to see my body. I can show you all of it if it’ll get you to shut up”
Sakura’s eyes widened as she couldn’t look away.
Chaewon too. Her mouth opened and closed by no words were coming out. You were reaching button after button and she caught a glimpse of the top of your abs before you stopped.
“I’m not even done yet and you’re finally quiet. Want the full show? Stop being a bitch and lay on my bed. Your mouth could be of better use that way” You said coldly to her face before storming out of the class to the nearest bathroom.
And of course, Chaewon had to run after you. She wasn’t going to back down until she won this stupid fight.
She barged in the bathroom and saw you leaning your back against the sink with arms crossed, glaring at her. “I should’ve known you were gonna follow me. What else do you have to say to me?”
Chaewon cursed under her breath and stomped up to you, grabbing a fistful of your still unbuttoned shirt. “You think you can walk away like that? We are NOT done here”
“Why are you trying so hard to get a rise out of me? Admit it Chaewon, I’m not like your little victims. You can make them cry and beg for your mercy but that’s never gonna happen with me, do you understand?”
She stayed silent. Anger rising as she breathed heavily.
You grabbed onto her wrist that held your uniform. “Let go of me”
“Fuck you and your pretty face” she hissed and pulled you down to meet her soft lips.
It took a whine and bite of your lower lip to finally process what was going on so you held onto her waist and pulled your fronts together.
You were annoyed at how easily hard you got from such a messy kiss but when you felt Chaewon rubbing herself onto your bulge, all complaints went out the window.
“Ow!” You pulled away when she bit harder on your lip, actually drawing some blood. “What was that for?”
“For pissing me off. And for flirting with Sakura in front of me”
You smirked and kissed her puffed cheeks. “You’re so cute when you’re angry. Like a puffer fish”
“Yah fuck you!” She hit your chest.
“I’ll let you if you stop with all this bullying!”
Her face went redder than it already was. “No!”
“Then you can’t have me” you crossed your arms and looked away like a child.
But Chaewon grabbed your hands and placed them on her hips again. “Noooo I want you”
“Can you at least tone down the bullying? Please Chae?”
She sighed and looked deeply into your determined eyes. “Fine I’ll try…”
“Damn. Never knew the school’s bully could be so in love with me”
“SHUT UP, I JUST FIND YOU HOT!”
You snuggled your face into her neck and chuckled. “Don’t lie baby”
“Keep messing around and I’ll poke your eyes out”
You started placing wet kisses under her jaw. “Sorry sorry. Can we continue now?”
Chaewon rolled her eyes and pulled you in by the neck tie inside the closest stall.
Now I let your horny imaginations go crazy 👁️
Also sorry this was short. It’s been stuck in my drafts for AGES!

Nonidol!hyunjin x gn!reader
Enemies to lovers | highschool!au (seniors)
Warnings : bickering.. semi-bullying? (Not much, they hate eachother so..), no more that I know of let me know if there is any to add
A/n : like a one time thing cause I was thinking about scenarios in my head when I thought of this was and I kept getting ideas 😭 never writing a fic in my life again 😥 also was not expecting this to be THIS long but!! Part 2 maybe.. ^^
(7.7k words)
Tumblr media
Hwang. Fucking. Hyunjin.
Just his name alone was enough to infuriate you and get your blood boiling. Simply put, he was your arch-nemesis. Your rival. Your enemy. Always picking on you in school, acting like he was all high and mighty. He would do anything to make you mad, and it worked. Even if you didn’t wanna admit it.
It was the week before your senior year finally started. You were dreading going to school, not excited to see Hyunjin again. Laying down in your bed, fond memories came flooding back as you were thinking about the upcoming school year.
Once, Hyunjin just so happened to be right behind you while you were in the cafeteria, and just so happened to ‘bump’ into you. Saying how he was “oh so sorry”, saying how he didn’t see you and just ran off, leaving your meal on the floor and you glaring at him.
Another time during hoco, he ‘accidentally’ spilled his almost full cup - and I mean till the brim - of fruit punch onto your white dress. It was obviously planned. He said a meaningless sorry as he ran off cackling with his friends, high fiving one of them. You went home right after, feeling all sticky and a bit humiliated in front of the whole school.
And another time, he threw a football as you were walking past the field. Not when you were even close to the border that marked off the play area. It so happened to hit you right on the head, causing you to drop your newly bought phone to the concrete ground. Everyone knew he had a good aim. You turned back, furious, to see him high fiving his friends.
There was oh so much more, and you wanted this to end. A new year, new you, yeah?
Finally, Monday came rolling around. You quickly got ready, putting on a decent outfit for the first day and finally arrived upon your dear, sweet high school.
As you walked in, your best friend Jisung wrapped his arms around you, welcoming you in a Jisung-signature style way.
“Hey bae!” He said sweetly. “So, whats the occasion? Looking a bit hot today.” You laughed, smacking him on his arm as he exaggerated the pain.
“Nothing,” you responded. “Just.. wanted to look a bit better for the new year yknow?”
“Ah, gotcha,” he winked. “Yknow. Hyunjin came around earlier, asking where you were. Fucking obsessed freak. Anyway, I told him to fuck off and mind his business.”
“This is why I still tolerate you,” you responded, thanking him in your own way. He smacked you back as you guys both giggled and entered homeroom.
Thankfully, it was a free-sit class, automatically making both you and Jisung sit next to each other. As you were taking out your pencil, you heard Jisung groan, making you look up to see Hyunjin enter the doorway. As soon as he entered the classroom, he spotted you, allowing a big stupid smile to appear on that stupid face of his. Oh great.
“Hey,” Hyunjin said nonchalantly as he came towards you. “Thought you were gone for good. Glad you’re still here. That way I’ll still have some fun in this junk of a place.” You scoffed, rolling your eyes before you met his gaze.
“Oh yeah? Are you that obsessed with me that you just have to have me around here? You need me to have fun? Cute.”
You could see the flare in his eyes as he rolled his eyes and walked away from you, finding a seat next to one of his side chicks, all of a sudden making out with her in the middle of the classroom. His eyes glared at you. Staring at you while he made out with is billionth chick of the week. What a creep. You stuck a tongue out, turning your focus over to Jisung.
He lifted up and hand, signaling a high five and you did just that, slightly. You let out a sigh. Maybe you could really stand up to him. Maybe even mess around with him a bit, just like he did to you.
These small quarrels went on for a bit. Both of you guys always so happened to bump into each other at the worst timing, and end up bickering over the smallest things.
Once, he fucking tripped you as you were walking to your lunch table with Jisung. Making you fall face flat to the floor.
“I saw what you did, Hyunjin. Apologize,” Jisung said in defense. In response, Hyunjin just lifted to arms and shrugged, acting like he didn’t do anything. You were furious.
The next day, you stole his backpack and threw it in the fountain. Of course, he found you during passing period and shoved you against against a locker.
One day, your teacher announced that there was a new student in our school, joining your homeroom. Honestly, who goes to a new school one month of senior year on a Wednesday? You heard rumors he was hot, but you werent expecting that much until a boy walked in.
“Everyone, meet Lee Minho.” You teacher announced as the guy, introduced as Minho, waved giving a small smile. Somehow he met your gaze, and gave you your own smile. He wasn’t exactly your type, but he was hot. The rumors were exactly right.
Jisung just so happened to be preoccupied in his extracurriculars that time, having to had to leave during class time, but there was an empty seat next to you. Your teacher told Minho to go and sit next to you, which he happily obliged.
“Hey, I’m Minho,” He said as he sat down and faced you. His voice was so calming, like you could practically sleep while listening to him talk. “Well.. you already know that by now. What’s your name?”
“Y/n,” you responded. “Nice to meet you. How’d you end up moving to this school?”
“I dont know.. well I do know. But it’s kind of embarrassing..” he shyly said. “I got in trouble for self defense you could say. This guy punched me first and was going to do the same to my friend.. so I beat him up.” Your mouth gaped. He laughed at your shocked expression. “Don’t worry, I don’t go around beating random people up.”
You let out an exaggerated sigh as a joke and both of you guys laughed. He was sweet, you could definitely tell.
While you were getting to know Minho more, you felt a gaze boring into you. You turned to see Hyunjin staring at the two of you, more so likely to Minho, then back to you and so forth. What was wrong with him?
As the bell rang, you guys parted ways after you asked Minho if he wanted to join you and Jisung for lunch. He happily accepted, having no one else he knew in the school yet. Once you met Jisung in the hallways to go to your other class together, you told him about lunch with Minho. He was ‘skeptical’ at first, saying that Minho may be a serial killer and you may be the next victim. What the hell. So Jisung-like. You slapped him playfully. He whined. You guys both laughed.
Finally lunch came rolling around, and you guys sat in your usual spot. Once you spotted Minho looking around, you waved you hand and he smiled.
“Hey Minho!” You exclaimed as he sat down across from you and Jisung. “This is Jisung, the friend I was talking about?” Jisung waved and put on his stupid grin. Minho smiled, introducing himself. Lunch went smoothly. Minho surprisingly had the same humor as you and Jisung, and you guys all laughed throughout the whole lunch period. However, you caught Hyunjin catching glances over to your table. What a freak.
The bell rang, making all three of you guys split up and head your own ways. You walked to your next period, art class. You loved your art teacher and just art in general. However like always, when you walked in, Hyunjin was there. Sitting right there staring at you.
You don’t even know why and how he’s in art class. A guy like him? Interested in art? Unbelievable.
You ignored him as you made your way to your desk, meeting your in-class friend, Felix. Felix knew about Hyunjin and whatnot, always on your side no matter what. He was your close friend you knew from childhood, but obviously growing up you guys split to different friend groups. You guys still stayed close, especially since you guys shared some classes together.
“Lix!” You exclaimed as you sat down.
“Hey!” He responded, passing you a bottle of your favorite drink - banana milk. You patted him on the back as a thanks. He smiled in response.
Once everyone settled down, your art teacher gave the assignment for the day, allowing everyone to go their own ways. As you were chatting with Felix while you were drawing away, you noticed Hyunjin walking towards you. You groaned, knowing hell was coming your way.
“Y/n,” he spoke softly. “Can i talk to you after school? Serious.”
You glared up at him, scoffing before rolling your eyes.
“Why should I?”
It was his turn to scoff. He slammed his hand on the spot right next to you on your desk and he looked right in your eyes.
“‘Cause I said so. Im serious y/n. I have to talk to you.”
“How about no?”
He gave up easily, what a surprise, and walked off to his desk.
“What was that about.” Felix asked. You shrugged, going back to your artwork.
After the bell rang, you walked out of the classroom heading to your next class before you felt a tug on your wrist and you got pulled back. Startled, you tried to fight back before you were met with Hyunjin’s gaze.
“Wha - what do you want?” You asked, stiffening up as soon as you saw Hyunjin.
“Y/n. Im serious. Talk to me after school? Please.” His face softened, the first time you’ve ever seen his expression so soft. He looked.. genuine. I mean what could possibly go wrong? You accepted, freeing yourself from his grasp as you walked to your next class.
Finally, the bell that indicated that school was over rang. Oh how you were dreading to meet up with Hyunjin. You told Jisung and Minho about the whole situation, which made both of them beg you if they could hide from behind and watch the whole situation. You had no reason to say no so you accepted.
As you were approaching the spot where he asked you to meet you, you saw him, leaning against the wall while he was scrolling on his phone. You looked back to see Jisung give you a big thumbs up and Minho just smiling.
As you got closer, he looked up from his phone and waved.
“Didn’t think you’d actually be here,” he said as he stuffed his phone in his pocket. You rolled your eyes.
“What’d you call me here for? Wanna confess your dying love to me?” You joked, giving him a smile.
“Close,” he responded. “Lets make a deal, yeah?” You glared at him in response.
“Why should I?”
“Because,” he shrugged. “Anyway. Look. Can you pretend to be my girlfriend? Just one day.” Your jaw dropped. You weren’t for sure, but you could also hear Jisung and Minho gasping.
“Why me?” You asked, confused as ever. “We both hate each other. Definitely not a match. There’s other girls in this school that fit you more, and who do you even have to have a fake girlfriend for anyway.”
Hyunjin let out a sigh. He rubbed his face before looking up back at you.
“My little sister. She overheard me talking to my friends about you. A prank I was gonna pull on you. ‘Wow what a shocker’, i know. She thought you were my girlfriend and begged me to bring you home one day. I can’t disappoint my little sister, can I?” You let out a small giggle. You never thought that Hyunjin had a side of him like this. “So?”
“What do I get in return?” You asked, looking up back at him.
“A nice, cute, and very good looking fake boyfriend?” You rolled your eyes. However you thought for a moment. This might help get Hyunjin off your back for good.
“What if I like.. burn the house down and make your sister be in harm's way,” you said. Of course, you wouldn’t. You’ve had babysitting history and you were very good with little kids.
“I’m sure you won’t,” Hyunjin smiled, patting you on the shoulder. He reached into his pockets before pulling out a piece a paper. He brought out his spare hand, signaling you to open yours. You got the memo, and did, and he placed the piece of paper into your hand. “I’ll text you the details okay?” he said before running off..
“Wait! I never said yes yknow?!” You screamed at him but all you got in return was a hand raise from him as he ran off.
Right after he left, you heard hurrying footsteps behind you, and as you turned your head you were attacked by both Jisung and Minho.
“Fuck- what do I do..” you expressed. Jisung placed both hands on your shoulders and shook you, not believing what he heard and saw was right.
“You’re being a fake girlfriend?! For him out if all people? Wake up girlfriend,” Jisung exclaimed. Minho had just heard all this drama between you and Hyunjin during lunch, but he was way too invested.
“What if he murders you at his house?! Y/n, wake up!!” Minho joined in alongside Jisung.
“That’s what I’m saying!!” Jisung agreed.
“Oh my god- you guys are so unbelievable. It’s fine. I won’t die. Promise,” you said tapping them both on the shoulder. “C’mon, lets go.”
Was this some sort of a joke?
Back at home, you were snuggled up in your bed, reading your favorite book. That’s when you remembered the piece of paper Hyunjin gave you previously. You reached into your pocket to find the crumpled up paper that read his number.
You got the piece of paper and pulled out your phone, dialing the number that was supposedly Hyunjin’s.
Hey 6:45pm
You messaged him, now awaiting his response. It didn’t take long for him to start typing.
You Glad you actually messaged me :) I was waiting for your text message 6:48pm

Hyunjin Noon 7:10pm read
The next two days went like always, you hung out with Jisung and Minho and there was Hyunjin always bickering with you.
“Hey, wanna go study together at the library?” Minho asked one day while you guys were eating lunch. “Like after school?”
“Cant,” Jisung responded with mouth full of his lunch. “Part-time job, yknow?”
“How about you?” He turned and faced you.
“Hm, I think I can. Yeah, sure. Let’s meet up at the library right after school.” You responded, going back to your tray of food.
After school ended, you parted ways with Jisung after your guys’ last class and went towards the library. There, Minho waved you over once you guys both spotted each other.
Once you sat down, you guys both went ahead to studying. Here and there you guys would chat and giggle.
“Hey isn’t that Hyunjin?” Minho asked looking over you. You turned in response and there he was, leaning against a beanbag that was set in the corner of the library reading some book. “Never knew he was a book guy.”
“Gosh, he’s like everywhere I go.” You groaned, looking back at Minho. “I swear to god this isn’t some coincidence. The lord just hates me.”
Both of you guys laughed at your response and went on with your day.
Saturday came rolling around quick. Dressed in a casual jean and a white shirt, you were standing right in front of the Hwang residents. From the looks of his home, you guessed his family was pretty well off. With a sigh you let out, you walked to the door and pressed the doorbell sitting right next to it.
A few seconds passed without an answer, so you did a good three knocks on the wooden door. You heard a bit of clamoring in there until you heard Hyunjin’s voice shouting.
“Wait a moment!!”
A minute passed before the door opened to reveal a hectic Hyunjin. He was dressed in gray sweatpants and a plain white t-shirt with small stains on it. You almost let out a laugh. You never expected Hwang Hyunjin to ever look so vulnerable like this.
“Hey,” He greeted you, opening the door wider allowing you in.
“Hey,” you responded, neatly taking off your shoes and placing them with the rest in the corner of the doorway. “Where’s your parents? I wanna go say hi..”
“Oh my parents? They’re out, they should be back around dinner time so.”
“Oh alright,” you nodded. “You look uglier than any other days.”
“Are you looking at a mirror?”
He smiled before turning around and leading you to the kitchen while you were containing yourself from not beating him up.
You looked around the hallways, decorated with paintings and images framed up. Now you knew why he was in art class.
“Where’s the infamous little sister you’ve been talking about?” You questioned as you walked in the kitchen.
“Hm? Oh Hyuna. She’s trying to get herself dolled up for you,” He responded, getting out a bottle of what looked like banana milk and handing it to you. “You like banana milk, yeah? I see you drinking it all the time in art class.”
“Yeah.. thanks,” you responded, kind of shocked he caught this detail of you. “Hey, this isn’t drugged or something right?”
He laughed. “What kind of person do you think I am? I hate you but I would never drug you.”
“Hm.. okay,” you said, taking a sip from the container. “Come to think of it, you and Hyuna have very similar names.”
“Yeah.. my parents wanted to go with a theme I guess.” He nodded before muttering a quick ‘wait a minute’ as he turned to a hallway.
“Hyuna~” he yelled as he walked towards a door and opened it. “Y/n’s here, come say hi.”
You heard a small “wait!!” before you saw two small hands pushing Hyunjin out of the room and closing it. Hyunjin sighed in defeat as he walked back towards the kitchen. You giggled to yourself, seeing how cute his little sister was.
He came back to the counter you were leaning against.
“I have a question for you,” he said, turning towards you. You faced him. “Are you like.. dating Jisung or Minho?”
You let out a loud laugh, covering your mouth trying to contain the loud noise coming from your mouth. Hyunjin just looked at you all confused.
“Sorry.. sorry,” you said after you finished your laughing frenzy. “But no, I’m not. Jisung’s just like a brother to me. Me dating him? Ew - ew..”
“Minho?”
“I’ve met him just a few days ago. He’s nice, yeah. But not my style. Just a friend,” you responded, taking another sip from your container.
After your response, it got a bit awkward until the door from the hallway opened up, revealing small little feet as it ran towards you. It was Hyuna. She finally reached the kitchen and just stared at you for a moment.
You could tell Hyuna was indeed Hyunjin’s little sister. She looked so much like Hyunjin, having the same plump lips, the same eyes, and even the same small mole under her eye.
“Hi..!” She said first and broke the silence. You crouched down to get to her level and smiled big.
“And who’s this?” You questioned.
“Hyuna!” She exclaimed. “Are you really my brother’s girlfriend?”
You looked back up to see Hyunjin. He nodded, making you face back Hyuna and nodding sweetly.
“Yup, I’m his girlfriend all right.” You said.
“You’re so pretty!” She said. You blushed and petted her hair.
“You more, princess.”
She smiled. You smiled back.
“Wanna go play?” She asked you, having stars in her eyes.
“Sure!” You happily accepted, getting up and following her quick footsteps to her room.
You guys played doll for what seemed like hours. She seemed to be having fun though, which was all that mattered honestly. Hyunjin on the other end was just in the small chair in the corner of Hyuna’s room reading that same darn book you saw him read that one time in the library. Every once in a while would he also join in on both of you guys.
Around 2pm was when Hyuna got hungry, which made you realize that you were also hungry. Hyunjin offered to make lunch as he got up from his spot and left the room. Meanwhile, you and Hyuna decided to read some picture books she had.
After what seemed like was around 20 minutes, Hyunjin called you guys over. You took Hyuna’s small hand into yours as you guys both walked over to the kitchen.
“Y/n, do you mind getting the pitcher of orange juice from the fridge for Hyuna?” Hyunjin asked while plating the pasta he made onto three plates. You rolled your eyes before opening the fridge as he said so, pulling out the pitcher of orange juice and pouring it into a plastic cup.
As you were pouring, Hyuna accidentally bumped into you while trying to help get the utensils. The bump made you lose a bit of your balance, and you ended up spilling some of the bright, sweet orange juice onto your plain, white shirt. You sighed. Hyunjin saw what happened, quickly grabbing some paper towels and handing it to you.
“You okay? Hyuna, apologize,” he said, following the small words ‘sorry’ muttered by Hyuna.
“It’s fine.. I’ll just clean off in the bathroom,” you told Hyunjin as you were doing your best dabbing the juice off your shirt.
“I could lend you a shirt?” He offered. He quickly ran to his room without even hearing a response from you. You just stood there, comforting Hyuna that you were okay.
What you didn't know was that while he was getting you the hoodie, all he could think of was the way your white t-shirt turned see-through because of the way the orange juice spilled over it. He could see the outline of your bra and the curves that the shirt displayed. Snap yourself out of it! he replayed in his mind before he grabbed the hoodie and went down to meet you.
Once he returned, he handed you a hoodie.
“Sorry, I didn’t have any t shirts,” he said. You still thanked him otherwise and found the restroom to change.
You took off your sticky shirt and placed it in the sink for now. You had brought paper towels in with you, so you used those to clean off the rest of the orange juice on your chest. Once you were all cleaned, you put on Hyunjin’s hoodie.
Gosh what were you doing in your arch-nemesis’s house.
Either way, you were kind of shocked that Hyunjin was so caring, even going as far as to lend you his hoodie. What happened to the tough guy act?
Once you got put together enough, you walked into the kitchen holding your wet shirt in your hand.
“Hyunjin, can I have a bag to put my shirt in?” You asked. He nodded, and he got up from his seat and digged through the pantry. He found a bag, and opened it in front of you, signaling you to put your shirt in the bag. You did so, and after all the chaos ended, you finally sat down and ate your lunch.
Surprisingly, the pasta was not so bad, decent actually, especially since an 18 year old guy made it.
“Not bad..” you muttered under your breath. Apparently, Hyunjin must have heard you because he chuckled and said “thanks.”
Once everyone got to eat their full, Hyuna asked if you guys could go to the nearby park that was close to their home. You also wanted a bit of fresh air, so you turned to Hyunjin and mouthed a ‘please?’ while Hyuna kept begging.
He finally said yes, and Hyuna jumped around in joy while you were jumping in your mind.
You guys decided to walk there. Before leaving, Hyunjin grabbed his wallet and an emergency lollipop for Hyuna just in case. In the middle of the walk, Hyuna felt tired, asking Hyunjin to carry her. He sighed, acting all annoyed.
“You’re a big girl aren’t you? You can walk.”
Contrasting to his reaction he still crouched down, allowing Hyuna to get behind him and wrap her little arms around his neck. He lifted her up, having her in a piggyback ride.
After that, the trip went smoothly. All of you guys kept talking about what Hyuna would want to talk about. Finally reaching the park, Hyunjin let Hyuna go to play on the play structure.
“Don’t get hurt!” Hyunjin yelled at Hyuna while she ran off. Hyunjin really wasn’t that bad of a guy.
“I have a question,” you said as you guys both sat down on the bench.
“Hm?”
“Why do you pick on me so much?” You turned to face him. “You’re so mean at school and to me but then you turn into such sweetheart to your sister. Such a two-face jerk.” You muttered that last part as you turned back, facing away from him.
“Because I hate you? Duh,” he shrugged.
“Okay but why? What did I do?”
“I dont know. You just irritate me every time I see you.” It was a fact to him. But not because you annoyed him the way everyone thought. You annoyed him because the way you looked. His heart would pound whenever he saw you, especially when you were all mad and furious. It was kind of hot.
“Wow thanks,” you sarcastically said, scoffing.
Just as you guys were both starting to bicker again, Hyuna ran over to you guys on the bench.
“Can you guys play with me?” She asked. You sadly declined because of the bad back you’ve had for a bit, so Hyunjin excused himself and went to play with his sister.
He chased after Hyuna, running in circles together. It was cute for a moment, until you realized what you were just thinking about Hyunjin. Cute? He is a jerk. Never ever.
Once time had past a bit, you guys decided to head home. Hyuna whined begging to stay a bit longer, but Hyunjin firmly said no, saying how he was tired and possibly you were too. You agreed, promising Hyuna to play more with her at the house. She finally gave in, asking Hyunjin to lift her up again. He groaned, letting out an exhausted sigh. You’ve had experience with holding kids when you used to babysit. Maybe this wouldn’t be different at all.
“I can carry her,” you offered, making Hyunjin’s head snap in your direction, wide eyed.
“No.. Y/n, you don’t have to. I was just joking,” he muttered slowly. You kept insisting, saying how he was probably exhausted and tired like he said he was from playing around with Hyuna. He said something under his breath before finally obliging to your request.
You picked up Hyuna, and she was more than happy.
“You’re so strong!” She exclaimed, making you giggle and lightly pinch her cheeks.
“Yeah? I’m strong right?” You looked over to Hyunjin. “Way stronger than your brother. He's so weak, not wanting to carry his own sister, right?” Hyuna nodded, making you laugh and Hyunjin frown.
“Hey I’m stronger!” Hyunjin semi-yelled, making him face to face with Hyuna. Mid-walk, they were having a staring contest. Such siblings.
By the time you guys reached home, Hyuna fell asleep in your arms.
“I could take her to her room,” Hyunjin whispered, opening his arms so he could take Hyuna from you.
“No, it’s fine. I’ll just lay her in bed and come back,” you responded, lightly making your way to Hyuna’s room.
There, you laid down Hyuna on her bed and covered her in her sheets. She looked so cute sleeping. Would Hyunjin also be-
No! What’s wrong with you? Hyunjin’s your sworn enemy.
You patted Hyuna on the head before turning around and leaving. Right as you exited her room and closed the door, you yelped in shock after seeing Hyunjin leaning against the wall next to the door.
“H-hi?” You stammered.
“Are you gonna leave?” Was all he said, having his arms crossed.
“That’s what I was planning to do, why?”
“I could drop you off.”
What was this Hyunjin and what happened to the one who would play pranks on you and make fun of you?
“Uhm,” you hesitantly said. “Why?”
“Because, it’s starting to get dark. I may hate you but I’m still a gentleman,” he shrugged, making his way to the door. You quickly followed him behind, grabbing your belongings before you started to put your shoes on.
“Why’re you being so nice to me,” you casually said as you followed Hyunjin to his car. He turned back and just stared into your eyes.
“I may be a jerk, but Im not letting a kid go home by themselves when its getting dark,” he answered, turning around on his heels as he walked to the drivers side.
“I’m not a kid?!” You yelled. “Im eighteen, just the same as you.”
“Yeah yeah, whatever.”
You got into his car. A really nice one, considering that he was just a senior in high school. Before leaving, Hyunjin handed you his phone. You looked at him all confused before he turned to face you and gave an eyebrow raise.
“Music?” was all he said before you took the phone from his hand and was scrolling through his spotify.
You turned on a song, ‘A Song Nobody Knows’ by Colde. As soon as you turned it on, you could see the satisfaction in Hyunjin’s face.
“You like Colde?” He asked while still keeping his eyes on the road. One hand on the wheel with the other on the hand rest. You nodded, smiling as you put down his phone and just looked out the window.
The car ride was fairly calm. Either of you too tired to start bickering and Hyunjin too focused on getting you home. Once you guys arrived, you got out of the car, thanking Hyunjin for the ride.
He really wasn’t such a bad guy sometimes..
You entered your home. All quiet and dark due to your parents working late yet again. You reached your room, putting down your stuff in their designated spots. However you noticed something. Your wallet was missing. Did you drop it somewhere?
You Hyunjin.. Did I leave my wallet in your car? 5:27pm
You were expecting to get an answer late, knowing that he was driving. But he he answered fairly quickly.
Hyunjin Hm Yeah Want me to drop it off? 5:30pm
You No its fine Just give it to me on monday 5:31pm
Hyunjin I insist I’ll be there soon 5:32pm read
Alright.. i guess he was coming soon. After about 5 minutes or so, there was a knock at your door. You quickly got to it and opened it to see Hyunjin standing there with a smug smile.
“Thanks,” you said, reaching for the wallet that was in his hand.
“No problem,” he responded. “Hm, I may have taken some cash by the way. Yknow, the trip costed me gas.” You looked at him in a ‘i knew it’ expression as you opened the wallet to the cash compartment.
“It’s all gone!” You exclaimed. There was 50 bucks or so in there, and apparently Hyunjin took it all. “Hyunji-“
Before you could finish your sentence he was already running off to his car screaming a faint “see you on monday!”
What a jerk.
You were laying in bed, happily reading your book when you got a notification. You opened it up to see it was from Hyunjin.
Hyunjin Gosh Im sorry to ask y/n But can we do this again? Not that i want to Ew But Hyuna liked u very much And wants to hang out again 8:49pm

You Twice My lovely girlies 9:05pm
Hyunjin Ughhh Fine. 9:06pm
You You got yourself a deal, young sir 9:06pm read
You smiled to yourself.
These small hangouts happened often from there on. Parks, malls, you name it, you were there with Hyuna and Hyunjin. At school, he’d still pick on you, yes, but his demeanor changed when you hung out with Hyuna. He was kinder, a lot nicer. You liked that Hyunjin, the one that would actually care for you sometimes, although he’d still start bickering.
Once he even insisted you guys hung out at an amusement park, saying how Hyuna kept begging to go with you. Hyuna really opened up to you, looking up to you as a role model. You found her cute too. You accepted his offer, obviously just for Hyuna.
He informed you that his parents would also be there, saying how they wanted you and Hyunjin to have your own free time besides being with Hyuna the whole time.
Ugh. Being alone with Hyunjin.
You guys got there early, around 9am, which meant you guys would be at the park for a bit. You guys followed around Hyuna, taking care of her, giving his parents their own little date. Riding the carousel, riding a kiddie coaster, it was fun yes.
You three were in line for the kiddie coaster and there was this kind lady with her own kid.
“Aww, you guys make such a good couple. It isn’t that easy to be such young parents. It seem’s you guys are doing a good job raising her.” She smiled, talking to you guys as if you and Hyunjin were parents. You were flustered, cheeks reddening. You weren’t even out of high school yet. Maybe you did look mature..
“No ma’am that’s no-“
“Thank you so much,” Hyunjin cut you off, giving a kind smile to the lady. “My wife here is doing such a good job, am I right?”
Hyunjin and the lady chit chatted for a bit before it was her turn to get on the ride. Hyuna just looking up at the whole convo the whole time.
“What the hell was that about?” You semi-screamed at Hyunjin after the lady left, hitting him on the arm.
“What?” He shrugged. “Why would I break her heart telling her the truth that we were not a couple and pure enemies. Telling a white lie sometimes is better.”
You covered Hyuna’s ears with your hands before saying a low “you fucking psycho.” He just laughed.
It was around 3pm when you guys met up with his parents, eating lunch, then trading places taking care of Hyuna.
“Im so tired~” you said while stretching your arms, walking alongside Hyunjin. He hummed in response.
He looked to face you, staring at your face before saying “your uglier than normal today.”
“That was so out of pocket!” You exclaimed, slapping him on the back. He rubbed the spot you hit him, giving you a smug look.
“What? I’m just saying the truth.” He said, facing forward again. “Wanna get some cotton candy?”
Wow changing the subject.. well you did like cotton candy so you couldn’t just decline his offer.
“Sure,” you said before doing a little run to the cotton candy stand. It was those stands where they make the flower-shaped ones.
“17 bucks?” You muttered under you breath. Why was it so expensive?
“Why? Too expensive for your broke ass?” He asked while in line. You rolled your eyes. “It’s fine, I’ll buy you one.” At least he was going to do that!
Once you got your cotton candy, you squealed. It looked so pretty. Each string of candy weaving into each other, the colors coordinating with one another so well.
“I gotta show Jisung and Minho this,” you said, taking out your phone from your small purse.
“I could take a photo for you. Go stand over there,” Hyunjin said, pointing to a direction as he held out his hand for you to put your phone in. You happily obliged, putting your phone in his hand before you ran to your spot.
“Cheese~” he said before snapping some photos of you. “There, done.” You walked over to where he was, seeing the photos he took. “Hey i especially like this one. You look extra ugly here.” He said while pointing to a picture he took when you weren’t even ready.
“Fuck you,” you muttered. You snatched your phone from his hand, sending some of the photos he took of you to your group chat with Jisung and Minho.
They couldn’t believe you were still doing this for Hyunjin, well not after you told them about your deal. Jisung kept calling Hyunjin a jerk, and Minho just sat along with Jisung agreeing.
“I’m kinda tired, wanna just go hang out in the ferris wheel?” You nonchalantly asked, turning to face him. He nodded, making you run to the big ferris wheel that was at the center of the park.
“Why do you run so fast?” He asked, panting after he caught up with up.
“Maybe you’re just slow,” you shrugged. You turned to the worker saying “two people, please.” He rolled his eyes.
Once you guys got on in your car, you sat facing each other. You thought it’d be awkward being in silence like this, but it really wasn’t. He handed you one side if his earphones, which you gladly accepted, putting it on to listen to the calming songs on his playlist. It was nice, sitting there and looking down at the view while you were going up. Despite your fear in heights, you found ferris wheels to be fairly calming.
However, when you guys were towards the very top, there was a gust of wind, making the car shake. You yelped, jumping in your seat. The wind increased the fear you had. You noticed that Hyunjin was staring at you, a mixed expression of shock and worry.
“Are.. you okay?” He asked. He didn’t even seem to be affected by the tumbling the car was experiencing. You shook your head. You had your eyes closed, trying not the focus so hard on the shaking when you felt Hyunjin getting closer and sitting down on your side. You took a peep at him from the side, and he embraced you in a hug. A warm hug. He was genuinely trying to comfort you. “Are you scared of heights?”
You nodded slowly, muttering a few words about how ferris wheels really didn’t affect you. Once the shaking stopped, you felt relief.
“Thank you..” you whispered under your breath. He nodded, and he stayed there the whole time. The ferris wheel made a few rounds. During one of them, while you were just staring out at the window, Hyunjin tapped you on the lap. You turned to face him, curious of why he tapped u.
“I have something to tell you.” He said, looking down at his feet, tapping his heels onto the floor. You tilted your head, awaiting for his ‘something to tell you.’ He let out a sigh.
“I.. don’t know how to tell you this.. I’ve been pondering about this for a while but..” he took a deep breath in. He looked up to you and met your eyes. His eyes were glistening. “I like you.”
You stared at him, in shock. He dropped his head back to the ground, sighing.
Him? Liking you? What a load of bullshit
“This isn’t some kind of prank right? Don’t be fucking with me right now Hyunjin,” you said, shaking his arm trying to get him to look up. “Hyunjin. I swear to god.”
“Im not pranking you. I’m genuine. I.. have feelings for you. Ever since sophomore year. Wanna know why I’ve been always messing with you? To get your attention. It seemed to be working, so I kept doing it. I feared that if I stopped, then you’d also stop talking to me. Im always thinking about you. In the morning, during classes, at night before going to sleep? You’re always in my mind. Your smile means everything to me, your laugh is the sweetest sound I’ve ever heard, and the way you act with my sister? Gosh that added extra points. Im so in love with you, I can’t handle it. I just had to tell you sooner or later..” he finally looked up at you, allowing you to see the tears building up in his eyes. He looked so vulnerable, like he was on the verge of breaking down and bawling his eyes out.
You instinctively hugged him, tight. Patting his back.
“I.. like you too.” You whispered into his ear.
It’s true. Every time you kept hanging out with Hyunjin outside of school, you saw the real side of him, being playful to his sister, being nice to his parents, and being nice to you. The way he treated you got your heart fluttering even though you didn’t wanna admit it. He got you staying up late at night, daydreaming in class. He was everywhere.
He pulled away from you, staring into your eyes.
“You.. do?”
You nodded, smiling a little when the tears finally started to trickle down his cheek.
You hugged him back, whispering a little “jerk”. He slapped you on the back, chuckling when you yelped a little.
Ever since that day, you guys have been hanging out a lot through the weekends. Going out on small dates.
“you’re dating WHO?” Jisung yelled when you told him and Minho the following Monday at lunch.
“Hyunjin..” you muttered.
“Hyunjin? Like THE hwang hyunjin?” Minho asked in shock. You nodded, making their jaw drop.
“We grew a little closer as I was hanging out with his little sister,” you said, shoving food into your mouth. “He’s not that bad of a guy, he’s like very nice.”
“Very nice in your dreams” Jisung scoffed, shoving his own food in his mouth.
As you were laughing, you felt a pair of arms hugging you from behind. You turned around to see Hyunjin, smiling. He gave you a small peck on the cheek as he sat down.
“Hey,” he said, referring to Jisung and Minho. They said hi back, Jisung with an annoyed look on his face. You rolled your eyes, looking back at Hyunjin.
“Hi!” You greeted him, giving him a peck on the cheek back. Jisung jokingly, well at least you hope so, gagged. Minho just slapped him on the back.
It was Friday, meaning that the weekends were finally here. You decided to hang out at Hyunjin’s house, like you always did.
“Hey!” You greeted him once he opened the front door to let you in.
“Is that my hoodie?” Was the first thing he said when he saw you. You looked down to see what you were doing, laughing when you realized.
“Remember that time I spilled orange juice? And you gave me this hoodie? Its from then,” you said before pulling Hyunjin into a hug. His cheeks flushed.
His parents were going out on a nice dinner themselves, asking if you guys could watch Hyuna. It wasn’t anything new, so you happily accepted. Hyunjin just sighed.
“I wanted us to hang out..” he pouted, sticking his bottom lip out. You gave him a peck on his lips.
“We are,” you smugged. He rolled his eyes.
“You know what I mean.”
“It’s fine. Hyuna isn’t even that bad of a girl anyways. She’s cute, gentle, kind. And did I mention cute?” He gave a small breathy laugh. You turned your back against Hyunjin, calling out a “Hyuna~!” as you ran towards her room. Hyunjin sighed before quickly following your footsteps.

✩࿐TRACK 03: WAR WITH HEAVEN. izuku midoriya (2K)
Tumblr media
about. upon spending time apart from your pro-hero fwb, deku, for a work trip — he quickly realises he wants it all with you. heaven, hell and life on earth.
warnings. minors, blank and ageless blogs do not interact! suggestive, sfw, slight angst, fluff, happy ending, sneaky links, long distance relationships, mentions of alcohol, mentions of sex, friends with benefits to lovers, journalist + fem!reader, pro hero!deku.
things to note. another saturday is upon us and so is another instalment!! i really like this one n can’t believe we’re half way through already !! anyways i hope you enjoy <3 - masterlist / series masterlist / series playlist ✩
Tumblr media Tumblr media
whether you believe it or not, izuku midoriya has never been hopelessly in love.
like most people with an overexposure to romance saturated media — the number one hero has always had that nagging feeling, craving for something more. the person to come home to, the partner, the kids and the dog that chews through the white picket fence or makes a mess on the freshly cut lawn. he wants a family like most individuals. but with a schedule as busy and a lifestyle as reckless as his…there’s hardly any time for izuku’s dreams.
dreams were for losers, anyways.
after high school, izuku quickly learned that dreaming wasn’t enough to get by even if it had motivated him to become a hero. reality is harsh and full of hard truths — bearing the responsibility of future number one and being all might’s prodigy had taught him that. so his rose tinted view of the future he had planned for himself quickly collapsed, the stain glass window shattering above him while its shards nicked at izuku’s youthful, hopeful skin.
he wasn’t so pure and good after leaving U.A — at least not in front of the public. behind closed doors izuku was a pessimist. he was sly and maybe a little sleazy, always on the prowl for something or someone to toy with. little deku was all grown up, no longer baby-faced and bright eyed but instead buffer with an unfairly tiny waist and an angular sharpness to his jaw that could cut diamonds.
he was attractive and he knew it — his new found confidence bled into his sex appeal and sky rocketed his popularity and now…the number one controls the whole of Japan in the palm of his hand. everybody wants a taste of the new and improved izuku midoriya.
everyone including you.
mindless hookups, despite being easy stress relief, always left izuku with a sour taste in his mouth. conservations with the elite that happened to stumble into his bed never went further than superficial talk and the odd ‘lets do this again sometime’s. he hated how people would change around him, clinging onto him after a night in the sheets like deku owed them a piece of his soul.
being the number one was no longer enough for hungry mouths. sex no longer satisfied those in his circle.
that was until he met you. the first time deku encountered you (at a hero press junket), you had been a shy intern journalist forced to follow around her mentor with an extreme lust for the green haired hero. he felt bad for you, you were obviously there to learn and do your job but the senior professional they’d stuck you with couldn’t help but slobber all over him instead of teaching you.
half-way through the junket, izuku had managed to sneak away from the pestering paparazzi to get a moment to himself — and it seemed, you’d had similar ideas. his initial assessment of your character was way off too. you were quiet, sure, but observant and snarky as well. a realist just like him. and somehow, you’d managed to convince him to leave to conference; get drinks at a secret roof top bar for only the highest members of japanese hero society, and talk and talk for hours about everything and anything. from quirks to the best snack combinations at the only kombini open past three AM on your street.
izuku liked you, he hadn’t felt such a spark for someone since his rookie days. you were cute, he couldn’t stop looking at your eyes and how they sparkles. your lips when you sipped the drinks he ordered for you and the way you instinctively leaned up to deku just to hear what he was saying.
the way you ended up in his bed that night was no mystery to either of you.
except the sensual and sultry night you shared together didn’t end there — at every event, every occasion, where journalists were required to be present, you found yourselves gravitating towards one another. one moment you’d be sharing bedroom eyes with one another from across the room and the next deku would have you bent over in bathroom stalls, his hushed moans in your ear and his fingers deep in your mouth to keep you quiet.
months went by and the sex didn’t stop, neither of you wanted it to. you made izuku feel a little bit whole again, you made him feel good and made him laugh all in the same breath. he didn’t just like it when you left your claim on his neck bordering the line of keeping your rendezvous a secret and letting the whole world find out — but he liked it when you stayed over and wore his shirts around his luxury apartment. or came to hang out with him at his private gym with a bag of cheat-day take-out katsudon and an earful of gossip from your office.
deku really liked you, more than he should’ve for a girl who was meant to be just a fling, more than he should’ve for someone who didn’t have time in his day for a lover.
“did you get over me?” the hero pouts into the FaceTime call, watching you struggle to grab your luggage off of the conveyer belt in baggage claim. if he were there, he’d have gotten it for you by now.
despite not being anything serious to one another, izuku had made it a habit to weasel his way into your everyday life. you sent cute little good morning and goodnight texts to one another, along with other messages like ‘get home safe’ and ‘have a good day’ too. those text messages quickly escalated to phone calls once the green haired number one admitted to you that it’s hard to fight crime whilst looking for the right kao emoji to send you.
you roll your eyes, coy smile budding on the edges of your lips. “it’s only been two hours, izuku.” you say, finally managing to grab your bag before you head out to the main lobby of the airport.
one thing about that man, is that he’s clingy as fuck. all of your attention has to be on him or he’ll feel like he might die. with you being away for the weekend at a journalism conference instead of in his arms, izuku feels like he might burn the whole world down from the ground up. just to be near you.
either that or he’s just extremely pussy whipped.
“streets are sayin’ you might sleep with that guy from your team while you’re there, is that true?” deku fires back, running a scarred hand through the mass of curls atop his head. he lets it run down to smooth over his face, peach fuzz starting to grow through — but you made him promise not to shave until the day after you got back. apparently his light stubble against your inner thighs made you cum so much—
“—i don’t even like him like that, you big baby,” you tell him matter of factly, cutting through his train of thought and bringing your phone up to your face once more to let emerald eyes peek down your sweater. “and i think he’d get the hint if he saw all these damn marks on my neck.”
pink blooms underneath the freckles on midoriya’s cheeks at the sight of the purple hues decorating your neck and shoulders. he remembers the extra turtlenecks you had to pack because of it. “couldn’t help it, i needed to give you a reminder of what you’d be missing while you were away from me.”
“you’re so dramatic, deku.”
“oh, you wound me, angel.” he purrs into the mic with a sly grin, knowing that he’s affecting you just as much as he misses you. especially when you give him a pointed glare. izuku let’s the conversation wither out as you order yourself an uber that’ll take you the hotel. he can’t help but chuckle when you perk up and notice the amount of money he’s sent you to cover the costs of it. “yanno…” deku mumbles, resting his cheeks on his knuckles. “you’re like heaven away from hell to me.”
you won’t admit how sexy he looks, even if izuku is all googly-eyed and soft for you. even if his forest green locks curl over his pretty eyes and hide them. it almost pisses you off. that he’s so blissfully unaware of how fucking pretty he is and how that mere fact manages to ruin you you even though you’re miles apart. “what’s hell, then?”
“my work. this city. this apartment, without you.” he says smoothly, filling your stomach with butterflies. izuku has a away about him that makes you feel like you’re his entire world and only his — but there’s never been any strings attached, you’ll never fully be his and he’ll very much be the nation’s hero (and dick) until someone manages to tie him down.
“are you asking me to move in with you, izuku?” there’s no expectancy in your voice — you say it mostly as a joke because you have no idea how much the number one pines for you. how tonight, he’ll drink himself into a stupor with his friends and whine to them about how much he misses you. izuku may have changed on the outside, may be stronger and faster but he’s still that insecure teenager on the inside.
he has to force his knees to stop knocking whenever you’re around. he finds himself swallowing the lump in his throat whenever he thinks about the possibility of you being with someone who isn’t you. he feels sick to the stomach and panics at the thought of losing you. you mess with deku’s head in the worst of ways and yet he finds himself wanting more. nevertheless, he smiles, loving how his name sounds on the sweet glaze of your lips.
“you’ve got a place in my bed. you’re always here anyways.”
“you’d never let me leave it, if you had a say in the matter.”
“you’d never have to work again if you let the number one hero take care of you angel.” izuku sighs longingly, giving you his cutest pair of puppy dog eyes that never fail to make you swoon. “but you love your job.”
“i do.” your uber pulls up and you reply curtly so you can properly greet your driver. they aid you with your suitcase and you slip your headphones on while in the back seat to keep your special conversation private.
“do you love me?” he can’t help but ask. izuku is hopelessly enamoured by you, you’re like a virus that’s spread across his brain and controls his every thought or action. he needs you like his lungs need oxygen to breathe — you’ve changed him for the better, shown him that maybe he can have both work and luxury. a family and foundation. with you, if you’d want him.
“izuku.” you warn, but playfully.
“so it’s true,” the hero drawls across the line in faux disappoint  though his eyes speak mischief. “you only like me for my cock ‘n my money.” you can practically hear the pout on his pretty plump lips.
a fondness takes over you and you can’t help but squirm happily. “and your pretty boy smile,” you squeal cutely, filling midoriya with the same amount of fondness “don’t forget.”
“so you do love me.”
“i can’t answer that until you ask what you want to ask me properly.”
“alright then,” sitting up, deku grasps at his phone between shaky fingers and holds it above his head — giving you the perfect view of his freckled and scared (and chiselled) body. he chews on the swell of his lower lip, dancing around the question he knows he wants to ask. “angel. i want you. more than just a fling. i want you to be mine.” he blurts, closing his eyes so that his thoughts come easy and he can’t see you reject him.
midoriya doesn’t know what he would do if he lost you, he’s seen what losing your love has done to his friends. kirishima and his partner had almost broken up with each other recently. he’d be a mess in that situation.  izuku has faced too many hardships in his life, his career, to let this one good thing slip from between his fingers.
“will you? be mine?”
he sees you poke your tongue into your cheek, laughing as you pretend to think. “i will, izuku. i want nothing more,” you coo. “keep my side of the bed warm. i’ll be home soon.”
relief floods through deku’s body. “don’t be too long, gorgeous.” with a couple of blow kisses, he lets you go with the reminder to call him back once you’re settled in at the hotel (so he can pay for your room service). it’s only when you’re alone again that izuku realises he’d rip stars from the sky to be with you, pull the heavens right down to earth to be by your side.
you’re everything to izuku, and for you, he’d go to war with heaven.

Hmm, how about Asa mitaka being asked out on a date by one of her male classmates. And she overprepares like she did with Denji, though this time it goes better cause the Reader is an airhead that marches to the beat of his own drum, so he ends up dragging Asa to multiple different places and she ends up having fun.
First date with asa mitaka
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing:asa mitaka x male reader
A/n:I decided to do this in a non devil au cause my girl needs a break (sidenote but your relationship in this is literally the definition of black cat/golden retriever love. Just something I noticed)
I didn't realize i wrote this much until I reread it to color it but that should tell you how much I love asa and want her to be happy
Tumblr media
Asa is an anxious person in general, especially in social situation and especially when it comes to romance. She never had a boyfriend and never really thought about having one, and she's very clueless to love as a result, so when one of her classmates (who she admittedly had a crush on too) asked her out on a date she freaked out incredibly hard.
Literally, every minor thing became a concern for her. What would she wear? Should she put makeup on? How much? Should she plan the date or leave that to you? Should she try flirting with you? (She quickly dismissed the last idea as she had no idea how to flirt, and it would make things awkward very fast)
She eventually figured out what she was gonna do and went to where she was supposed to meet you, which was a street near school. When she was there and didn't see you, her anxiety kicked in very fast. It felt like everyone was staring at her. Did you stand her up? This was probably all a prank, and she should have never accepted. After all, who would love someone like her? She was ready to go home and cry herself to sleep when a masculine voice interrupted her thoughts
"Asa! You came"
You quickly tackled her into a hug making the black haired girl blush intensely
"Y-Yeah obviously.....to be honest I thought you were gonna stood me up"
"Why would you think that? That's so rude I would never do that let alone to such a pretty girl"
Asa's cheeks basically caught on fire the moment she heard that and her brain struggled to think of a response
"T-thanks y-you look......h-handsome too"
"Aww thanks ok let's go now, we have a full day ahead of us, I promise you'll have a lot of fun"
"O-ok"
As soon asa answered, you held her hand and started dragging her around, which made her blush even more if that was possible
After a while, you two arrived where you wanted to go, which was an arcade.
"An arcade?"
"Yeah, you don't like it? I wanted to play some games with you but if you don't want to we can do something else"
"Oh no it's fine"
"Great let's go then"
You walked inside and started running around and looking at everything until you arrived in front of a cabinet and pointed at it
"Look they have DDR come on let's give it a try"
"Oh no I-I don't know how to dance"
"Neither do i, don't worry, you don't need to know how to dance to play, just step on the plates"
Asa started to think: if she said yes, there was the possibility she was gonna embarrass herself, but if she said no, then you would probably think she was boring and wouldn't like her something which she really didn't want to happen
"A-alright, I'll try"
"Great! I know you can do it"
You two started playing with asa actually having fun, the game was dumb but seeing you get so excited over getting a high score made her want to smile too, you eventually finished playing and continued going around
"*gasp* a claw machine! Do you want a plushie?"
"Oh no thanks, those things are a scam anyway"
You put your coin in before she even finished the sentence
"Come on it's fine, what kind of guy would I be to not get you anything, I'm a pro at this anyway"
"Whatever you say"
You spent.....way too much time and way too much money but eventually managed to get a cute plushie of a cat
"Yay!!! Finally"
As you grabbed it and held it to your date you quickly realized something
"O-oh sorry I never asked which plush you wanted.......do you like cats?"
"Yeah actually I love them"
"Oh thank god"
You gave asa the plushie and she spent a bit staring at it happily before turning to you
"If I may ask, why did you get me this in particular?"
"Well you just seem like a cat person, if that makes sense like your whole vibe screams I like cats"
"........is-is that a compliment?"
"Yeah I love cats, they're really fluffy and adorable"
Asa smiled and hugged the plushie tighter
"I agree, they're really cute"
".....you look cute when you smile"
"H-huh?"
"I mean you look cute in general but your smile is extra cute, it makes me happy to see you happy"
The black haired girl felt her heart flutter once more at your words
"T-thank you"
"Don't mention it, now let's go, the date is not over yet you know"
You two went (you dragged her) to a bunch more places to have fun, which asa actually did, which was a surprise to her because she usually felt more comfortable alone but in this instance she genuinely felt happy to have said yes when you asked her out, your positive attitude made her forget all about the worries she had before, she felt like she could just relax and have fun with you.
Eventually evening came and the date ended so you started walking asa to her home
"Ah that was great I had so much fun"
"Yeah me too........thank you"
"No thank you for accepting, I don't know what I would have done if you said no"
"......you cared this much about me?"
"Of course, you're so pretty and cute and fun to hang out with, I had a crush on you for the longest time, denji was pressuring me to ask you out for a while"
"Wow really? I-i just-it's still kinda hard to believe someone can like me like that"
"Don't say that, you're awesome asa and don't let anyone tell you otherwise not even yourself"
Asa felt like crying a bit, you actually loved her.......she had struggled with actually loving herself, the fact that someone else could say that to her with a smile on their face and with nothing but truth made her smile so brightly
"......thank you, thank you so much"
"It's nothing. Do you wanna take a selfie?"
"Hm?"
"I just wanna get something to remember this day. If we do actually become a thing, I would hate to have nothing of the first date with my amazing girlfriend"
"Y-yes alright"
"Great. Say cheeeeseee!"
You pulled out your phone and did a peace sign to the camera while making sure to get asa in the shot too, you saw her smile like she did earlier and you loved it
"This looks good, great smile, I'll keep it, but tell me if you want me to delete it ok? I'd hate for you to be uncomfortable because of me"
"Oh no it's alright"
"Amazing, oh hey isn't this your house?"
"Yeah it is, thanks for accompanying me"
"It's nothing soooooo.... second date when?"
Asa giggled at how enthusiastic you sounded
"I'll text you when and where"
"Great so we are having a second date"
"Of course, like I said, I had a lot of fun and would love to hang out with you again"
"Thanks so much, I'm really glad you think so"
You got close to asa and kissed her cheek which immediately got red, asa put her hand on the place you had kissed before looking back at her date who in the meantime was already walking away but turned back to wave at her
"See you at school tomorrow!"
Asa smiled before waving back at you
"Yeah see you"

When you have an Secret Admirer - and it's not them (1; Heartslabyul)
Tumblr media
A love letter was left at your door and now you are searching for that 'secret admirer' - everyone wants to help you out...but have their own reason for it...
"To my Dearest Ramshakle Prefect..."
form of headcanons + scenario-ish
[note: reader is gender-neutral but mostly mentioned in 2. pov; a series of everyone you meet following you. headcanon will follow each char. own thoughts on the situation. mostly nervousness, slight jealousy & stubbornness]
Part 2: Savanaclaw
Part 3: Octavinelle
Part 4: Scarabia
Part 5: Pomefiore
Part 6: Ignihyde
Part 7: Diasomnia
The school day goes by as the sun slowly sets. An orange hue adorns the roof of the Ramshakle dorm, even letting its somewhat shabby exterior appear charming. Laughter fills the cool air as both Ace and Deuce insisted on accompanying you to your dorm. Surely you aren't an mere outsider anymore after all these...overblot incidents but they were so stubborn sweet that you barely argued with them.
It was Grim's high-pitched snicker that snapped you back into reality.
"Oi, henchman, there's a letter for ya - and it's in all pink~!"
Ace Trappola
The first to immediately tease you that you've got a "Secret admirer~! Ooooh!"
As you appraoch the door you can see the pink letter carefully slid between the handle and wall. Your name was elegantly written on it.
It was only after you opened it and he peeked to see the first few sentences - 'To my Dearest Ramshakle Prefect' did he suddenly clam up and and his heart fell down to his stomach.
No way. No, no, no, no way! For real?!
Nah. Nah, nah, nah. This happens in these cliché movies and manga where someone really doesn't have the guts to approach their crush in person. People really do things like that?!
The moment both you, Deuce and Grim side-eye him for his sudden silence, he instantly perks up with a breahtless cackle to save face.
"Oh my Sevens, (Name)! You out of all people got a...a secret admirer?!" He would reach for the letter with a sweaty hand only for you to tuck it away. 'No way, Ace' you say, 'It - It couldn't be. This letter is for me anyway, so shut it! You can't peek!'
Oh oh.
His heart dropped even further. Is..your face getting red? Oh, no. He doesn't like that.
Still, he saves face by bringing his sweaty hand up to cover his face as his eyes dart around. "Fine, fine," He lies, "Just read it, dummy. Do tell us what it is about...! And from whom...!
He awkwardly winks.
Bidding goodybe by lightly punching your arm, he went to his own dorm with Deuce. The latter asked about his sudden shift in character.
"Nothing's wrong. I just find it hilarious if the Prefect did end up having a secret admirer! I mean, can you believe it?! What are we, a bunch of middle schoolers?
He sweats through the entire walk home and barely greets his schoolmates. He ended up not sleeping well that night.
Shoot. He really doesn't like that.
Deuce Spade
Deuce jumps when he heard Ace teasing you. His first instinct was to shut him up but the words itself were startling.
Oh my gosh...a secret admirer? Those things were real?!
He never had one admittedly...well, no surprises there considering his past.
"Dude, can you not make fun of (Name) for one entire day?!" He looks back at you for approval but blinks and - involuntarily - grimaces at the sight of you blushing while denying it. Ace couldn't be right, could he?
The mention of a love letter already flustered him, even if he wasn't the recipient but the fact that it was for you and that you were...flushed an obvious shade of red that even he could notice, left an sour aftertaste. He could feel his stomach twisting.
He hesitates before lightly shoving Ace and his grabby sweaty hands away from you, "Don't listen to him. It's your letter...just read it whenever."
Even saying something like that makes him want to barf.
You nod before waving goodbye - still with your face red. He really disliked the sight even knowing that you thanked him for sticking up for you against Ace's shenanigans. Why isn't he happy as usual when you thank him?
He looks back to Ace. "What's, what's wrong with you? You're suddenly so super weird." The latter just laughed it off, still sounding nervous. There was a part of Deuce that was glad his friend was so focused on his own nervousness, that he couldn't notice Deuce's mixed feelings of this.
This...wouldn't matter tomorrow, right...? He'd wake up and pick you up at Ramshakle as usual, right?
Deuce couldn't sleep. He went outside for some fresh air as he often felt sick throughout the night.
Cater Diamond
A new day is here yet no one seemed to be able to forget yesterday's incident - and CayCay noticed!
He went on an on, trying to pry the problem out of his dear, cute juniors but they didn't seem to budge. Ace would just brush him off, first starting with a 'All is swell and well as long Dormleader Riddle doesn't know...!' but now his excuses were limited to 'What, you tryin' to be the most caring and annoying senior of the month here?' His tone was as exasperated as before, however.
Deuce on the other hand seemed to be open to share but something would always hold him back last second. He'd sweat and blush and pout before shaking his head, offering a wobbly smile.
Cater continued to openly bother help the two until you arrived at Heartslabyul. What a surprise! His favorite, adorable junior coming to visit him?!
You approached him and he couldn't be happier! Oh, what's that, you wanna talk to him in private? Sure, he says, as both Deuce and Ace share a look.
Even so, Cater couldn't help but notice your flushed face as well as something being hidden on your person. Was that a pink piece of paper?
"Um, Cater-senpai...do you happen to have...pastries here for me?" You ask, nervously, trying hard to avoid his gaze. The guy appeared to be confused before you discreetly showed him the letter.
Oh. Oh...maybe, things are starting to make sense now.
He was able to see a few sentences the moment you showed him the contents. You admitted that you felt like you could talk about this...case with him. At least a little bit.
'I feel as though a letter alone isn't enough. I want to do something special for you...something as sweet as you, I made for, perhaps it could lighten your mood and your opinion of me.'
Chatty Cater was left speechless.
His gaze slowly wandered to the kitchen, then back to you. "Pastries...?" He muttered, "For - For you?" He looked back to the kitchen. A sweet aroma did come out of it.
Suddenly, he went up to your face, visibly distressed. "(Name)-chan, do you know from who this letter is?"
You take a step back, startled. "No...it's not signed - I mean, it is, it's just...as 'Your Secret Admirer'." You make a face as he leans coser - before suddenly shifting back to his original postion.
No. No way.
"Uh, Trey! Trey!" Cater calls out as he grabbed your shoulders and marched into the kitchen with you. His grip was tight even as you complained at the sudden take off.
"Trey, we've, uh, got a...problem."
Trey Clover
Trey almost dropped the bag flour when the door busted open with Cater pushing you through it. He readjusted his glasses before eyeing you two up and down.
"Trey-!" "What's the hurry? I'm baking one of Riddle's tarts right now." Before he could say anything more, both of you (or rather, Cater almost carried you) scrambled to the cupboards in the corner, hastily opening them (Cater was).
In return, the vice housewarden put his utensils back with a sigh. "What is it-" "(Name)-chan's got a love letter!"
You jumped as you shushed your senior, giving him a slap on the shoulder. Trey almost let go of the handkerchief in his hands.
His yellow eyes narrowed as they rapidly blinked, "L-love...love lett-" Only for him to be shushed by you, too.
Murmuring complaints under your breath you briefly showed the letter and its contents while Cater hastily explained the possible plan of this secret admirer. He still continued to open them left and right while Trey ducked down, his nose almost touching the pink piece of paper. He was able to peek a few lines before it was snatched away from his gaze.
'I don't want you to believe that this is some kind of prank. You'd probably expect it since you're magicless - but maybe you'd consider giving me the benefit of the doubt...'
'...ever since I saw you, I could kinda tell that you were a good person...and so very sweet to everyone, giving them a chance...'
'I admire you being able to be a good student at this college, even sharing classes with a cat while you can do no magic. I know it sounds crazy but this school is haaaard and I myself always have difficulties even being here...'
Trey could feel his heart beating against his rib cage as the words echo in his head, as he watches you snatch the letter back against your chest with pressed lips and flushed cheeks - and everything else seems to ring in his ears as he pulls a face the moment he heard Cater yell and everyone else burst into the kitchen.
"Oh my god, it's true! There are a bunch of pastries here with white roses!"
Riddle Rosehearts
The marching of his heels could be heard throughout the staircase and many began to panic. Riddle begrudgingly left his studies to see the commotion he so clearly and loudly heard from his room. With ease he pushed back the kitched door and found himself yelling with his usual strict tone again. "What in the name of the Queen is going on here?!"
The redhead could only raise a brow as almost all dormmates shakily pointed at you. Your flushed visage went pale in a second you noticed him walking up to you.
"Riddle-senpai...!" You waved your hands even as Riddle's gait became far more poised and his expression calmer once he saw you. With an almost neutral face he greeted you (and expected just a little common slip up from you and to...just pat you on the shoulder as a warning.) and leaned to the cupboard in the corner that Cater was facing, scratching his neck. In a flash his composure was ruined and he fell into his old habit - his face fuming red in anger.
"What is this?! A basket full of pastires decorated with white roses from our garden?! This is a crime against all rules of the Queen!"
He snapped his head back to the many students who were already trembling and attempting to run through the door, jump out the windows or cower behind the counter.
"Who thought of this prank?! It's off with your head!!!"
Screams ensued so loud and far that Trey jumped in-between. Deuce followed with an apologetic bow while Cater and Ace motioned for the rest to flee. The vice housewarden quickly interjected with Riddle's plan, whispering into his ear. The moment you noted what was exchanged, you came between them, your face as flushed as theirs.
Riddle darted his wide-eyed gaze to yours, his face as red as a cherry - and so was yours, he feared. Inhaling deeply, he cleared his throat before approaching you and holding out his hand. It seems he has forgotten about the commotion and was deaf to the weepings (of having survived another tantrum of the dormleader) outside.
"...(Name), may I take a look at this...letter?" His voice involuntarily cracked and he cleared his throat again. You answered by shoving it behind your back. "(Name), this is a violation against the Queen's rules so this concerns Heartslabyul. I..have to know."
He had to know who the criminal was...for, for justice. Nothing more and...nothing less.
You shake your head, facing the basket. "Just let me see this...gift," Your voice grew small at the last word, almost as if you had to admit it to yourself what this truly was. "Maybe it's not connected...maybe it's just a prank". Gingerly leaning in, you couldn't help but be amazed at the sight. The aroma was mesmerizing and so was the icing and entire form of the cookies, muffins and small cakes. White roses were indeed on and circling around the basket, droplets of dew adorning the soft petals. It seemed everything was done with so much care behind them...including stealing fresh roses the night before, it seems. On top of the basket, you found a thick but small note: 'You found them! I hope you enjoy the treats. I wish to give you these white roses too - when I first heard of the rumors from Heartslabyul, everyone deemed you some magicless troublemaker out for attention but I never really believed that...so white roses, because after all you've done for the dorms, I know you are innocent and pure...and red roses are kinda stereotypical, don'tchu think? And don't worry because of the dormleader...this was first just an idea that grew into a plan. I'll be sure to give you much more to make you believe me and my affection for you. So, look forward to it, okay?
Your Secret Admirer
This was it. You were officialy going to faint.
Tumblr media
You went back home, trying to discreetly carry the big basket without bringing too much attention to it...even though today's incident will surely be talked about among the Heartslabylul students, carried on in the cafetria and then...you groaned as you went through the door and pushed the thought aside. You..really wanted to try one muffin before Grim could even find your gift from...your own secret admirer.
Oh my god, this was so cringey. And overwhelming. And sweet. And was this even real? It..still could be a prank though...cruel people can find a way to bring one's hopes up only to smash them into pieces. Yet...you didn't really wanted to think about that now.
Ace pouted back in his shared room with Deuce after you brushed him aside. He persisted that, yeah this has to be a prank! Let him taste-test this for you, in case there is some kind of spell put on it - weirdly enough Riddle encouraged him so. That is a possibilty, is it not?
And yet as he did, he begrudgingly had to be honest. These were insanely good, perhaps even better than Trey's, though he kept his mouth shut on that one. Riddle tested it too and approved with a frown, Deuce was hesitant until Ace shared his cookie with him and Trey didn't even wanna know. He just shrugged and shook his head with a jaded smile as he believed the four of them. All five of them couldn't get the small smile on your face out of their heads.
"...Okay, so," Deuce started, looking on the floor. "This is the real deal then. An actual love letter and s-secret admirer for the prefect..."
"Yeah, it's really damn weird." Deuce snapped his glare up to his friend, pulling a face. "Shouldn't we be happy for (Name)? It could be something good. And, I mean, we are students, that happens in schools..." Ace swiftly turned around, eyeing the bluehead suspiciously. "You have no idea what you're talking about, dude. This is Night Raven College, weird stuff happens all the time here! I'm telling you someone's pullin' a serious bigass prank on (Name). And I'm not gonna stand around and wait for that to happen!"
Deuce looks up, shooting up from his bed. "Oh no, Ace, you don't mean-" "I am!" Through his cockiness, his face still grew red.
Riddle sighed as he cleaned the kitchen together with Cater and Trey. The latter two would often share a look before the dormleader began to raise his voice. "Starting tomorrow we will find this criminal for breaking one of the Queen's rules and put them to justice."
"Uh, you sure? I, I mean it was just a gift..." Cater trailed off, looking away. Trey loudly sighed, "Besides, this is none of my business - or ours. It's (Name)'s..."
One utensil clattered on the table before Riddle briskly turned to his friend. He offered a determined glare even as his palms started to sweat. "Trey," He began confidently, "Roses were stolen from the garden. This concerns me- all of us," He quickly corrected, "It doesn't matter if it's from (Name)'s 'secret admirer', if anything that person is disregarding rules, a criminal. (Name) deserves better than that."
Trey could almost hear the spite in Riddle's tone but decided to stay quiet. He ran his hand through his hair and adjusted his glasses. "Whatever you say, dormleader. Let's just hope this won't be more troule than it seems."
Bonus!
[yeah, ok, I kinda went overboard but also feel like its not enough - so here is everyone's thoughts after the scenario!]
Ace
Oh. My. God.
So, that was real. The treats were real. And they tasted good, too! Damnit!
Ace is still adamant that this is some sort of prank. It has to be! He was fooled once or twice by Azul and Co., that doesn't mean there aren't any dumbasses trying to trick you! You're an easy target! Magicless, living in some shabby dorm with a cat and ghosts! You got only him and Deuce! and maybe Jack, Epel and Sebek. And some 'Tsunotarou' guy? Pff, whatever.
He will make sure nothing is gonna happen to you! As your best friend, he's gotta make sure...! And, well, protect you!
It's the only thought process that keeps him from being a nervous mess. If it isn't that possibility, then that means someone really does have a crush on you and will, ya know, try to - ew - 'woo' you, or somethin'.
Ace is determined to find the 'prankster' and prove you he was right! In doing so, he would also prove it to himself and therefore be calmed. There's no way someone could be doing this...before him, right?
It's a mix of nervousness and denial. It only worsens when he slowly sees you happily accepting this 'courtship'.
Deuce
Holy crap...that was the most confusing and romantic thing he has ever witnessed.
The most mixed on all of this. An secret admirer doesn't sound like a bad thing and he wants to give this person the benefit of the doubt - maybe they mean well and just like you! And you seem to be accepting of that, alas a bit subtly and hesitantly.
Though he can't help this twisted feeling inside his stomach and the beating of his heart. He blushes as bright as you whenever the topic is mentioned as if he was the receiver of that person's affections! It is just...he cannot explain it to himself that this isn't wrong. He cannot find a reason why this could be wrong (aside from Ace's constant theories on what this plan actually could be) but it just doesn't sit right with him.
He should be happy for you! Yet, he isn't. He can't.
Ace does mention the possibility of someone wanting to hurt you and that does get Deuce riled up. If that is the case, he'll surely show them the ol' two, leave their face a bit black and blue...but he cannot believe it just yet. You seem so flattered by everything...he can't take that joy away from you by being like Ace.
Deuce grows frustrated and decides to not play by the redhead's rules - that letter was for you, dammit! He's just gonna go up to you himself and ask you how you feel about this ordeal!
A part of him hopes it is a bad guy...so he can save you from the unnecessary tears.
Cater
This was???? Shoot, he didn't take a pic! Not that he could, he was more worried of what Riddle might have done;;
So. Now this is real. It took him three years being in NRC but he is finally being witness of an classic 'secret admirer' story...or shenanigan because nothing can be normal here.
Exciting in normal cases! He'd love to have an extra blog to follow this story and 'crack the case' of that secret admirer! Should be easy enough since you are the lucky one.
But unlike his juniors, Cater is honest with himself.
He really doesn't want you to have an secret admirer.
Well, because, of course not! He likes you!
It's a bit of a shame...such a scoop but it has to be his favorite juniour. You attract more attention and trouble than he thought.
Cater is not exactly jelaous or panicked...perhaps in due time. Until then, he decides to step away and just keep a very close eye on you. Part of him hopes this secret admirer dude is true to their word and there will be more surprises! How exciting!
On the other hand...just don't have a crush on his crush, k?
Trey
BIG. SIGH.
Why can something not be normal here? A bask full of treats (that are apparently better than his?) almost gave him a heart attack.
On Riddle's command, Trey has to be a part of this now, doing his utmost to find a 'rule breaker' and 'criminal'.
Part of him kinda respects this admirer for having the guts that no one else really has...sure, it's more 'grandious' and public than he'd prefer, but well, good for them.
Everything is more like an annoyance and chore to him than anything. Riddle, the dorm, Cater and now creeping through he hallways of the college to find some person while the news have most likely spread around like a wild fire (and if they haven't, they will be thanks to Azul and his eels).
He really wished none of this happened.
Mostly because someone is going out of their way to offer you a giant, grandious, over the top confession that will haunt him for the rest of the day weeks.
And out of all things...why did they charm you with pastries? That's like nasty pang to the side.
Just get this over with. Have someone call it a hoax. Go back to the dorm, invite you to the kitchen and flatter you with real sweets this time, all made by Trey and no one else.

Riddle
Ridicilous...what kind of game is this? He's never heard of something this preposterous before!
Well, he literally never did...he thought things such as secret admirers were just a fantasy...in non-academic, fictional books he wasn't allowed to read...
Nevertheless, someone broke into the Heartslabyul kitchen, used it without permission and on top of that, stole roses from the garden. White ones, too!
The first thing in his mind is to make this right. Find that person, punish them fine, let them know of their wrongdoings. This cannot go! What if others believe Heartslabyul to be just some...kind of freebie storage of flowers and pastries they can snatch whenever?
As a dorm leader, Riddle must fix this.
The second thing in his mind is that all of this is done for you.
It feels oddly sweet to Riddle...those stories of tender love were true...
Still, he can't find himself fond of these proclaims of love.
Riddle isn't as honest to himself as Cater nor an irrational denier like Ace but...he knows he doesn't like any of this and knows it's connected to you...
In the past he would have brushed it aside and in the worst case scenario, will find anyone else in the wrong and be faulty - mainly you and that admirer for stirring this stress inside of him.
But these pangs in his heart are all his own concerns to deal with, that he knows.
Riddle doesn't like to think of you accepting this confession hence why he avoids you and distracts himself by finding this lovey-dovey student. He's only going to correct them on how to properly do this without anything resulting in theft.
And yet even so...if they listen and do as he says, do things the right way...will that really be okay to him?
If they ever confess and you accept...even though it was done correctly, without anyone getting hurt or harmed...will Riddle be okay?
The redhead cannot take this experience away from you, it is up to you to know how to deal with this. But seeing how this scheme of love and affections plays out in the upcoming weeks, there's something in Riddle that makes him wonder if he should have been that secret admirer to you months ago...and none of this would be happening now.
[yeah, watch me write so much of Ace, my favorite Deuce, and my perfect Riddle that I aDorE...and then teenee tiny cookue bits for cater and trey :,) ]

atsumu and his infatuation with stoic!reader - part 2
wc: 2301 | tw: swear words, mentions of princess as a nickname for reader, but mostly is gn!reader | a/n: this is much longer than i expected
to say atsumu was whipped was an understatement. he was completely in love with you, absolutely unaware of everything else, no thoughts in his pretty head other than you, you, you. everyone could tell. he would always follow you around, even if it was just with his eyes. he would often offer to do whatever it was that you needed “do you need help?”, “don’t you want me to do that for you?”, “are you sure you don’t need anything?”. he would be the nicest guy ever with you, but totally rude with whoever tried to bug you – or hit on you for that matter.
atsumu smiled, thinking he was so lucky you were so direct. he never really had any trouble reading your actions towards others – because when it came to you two he never really knew if he did understand right. but then he heard the dude’s reply, “couldn’t you at least ask for me to move? are you this disrespectful to your elders?” and his blood boiled. who was that guy to call you out like that? you didn’t react, though. with a blank expression, you talked very briefly and calmly, bothered that you had to prolong the dialogue when you should be heading to practice. “couldn’t you not stand in the way? and i am respectful to my elders, but only to the ones that deserve it, anyway.” and then you left, turned on your heels and went to astumu’s direction, knowing he would be there even if that meant he’d be late too.
one day you were leaving class a bit late to practice and accidently bumped into an older boy on the way out. atsumu, who was waiting for you at the end of the hallway – as usual –, only watched, waiting to see if you would need any assistance. the guy was ready to throw a bitter remark, but before he even said anything you started, “i’m sorry, you were standing in front of the door, there wasn’t much i could do.”
“i should’ve told him that–” he started, face burning up at the way someone could feel so comfortable being a dick with an angel like you. but you stopped him, holding his wrist with your right hand only to hook your fingers in his bracelet – the one he never stopped using since the day he received it, the one you gave him. you both kept walking towards the gym, your fingers on his bracelet as you said “thank you, for waiting for me” with your face serene, something he doesn’t usually see. then he understood, that stupid guy was not worth stressing about. he replied with a small laugh, much more at ease now that you all but wiped his anger with just a simple gesture of gratitude. “sure. anytime, love.”
as for the days you guys were off school, he could not bear to have no news from you, so he often sent a message or two only to be sure nothing happened and that you were fine. but you were such a dry texter, frequently replying with hand emojis and abbreviated words. he often waited for you two to be together to tell you things he was excited about, that way he wouldn’t misunderstand your words. although, there was one day. one where he felt such an excruciating longing after spending what felt like weeks without seeing you – you had skipped friday classes and it was sunday already, which meant almost three days away from you and it was just too much.
so he grabbed his phone, his lock screen wallpaper making him smile – a photo he took of you when you fell asleep at the bus on your way back home after winning a game – as he unlocked it and looked for your number in his contact list. as soon as he found it he clicked the call button, a much sincere “hi! i missed you, love” falling from his lips when he was greeted with your soft, low voice. you were caught off guard, not expecting him to be so blunt like this. you flustered and covered your face with your free hand, forgetting that he couldn’t see you, replying with a muttered “uh, i didn’t expect you to say it like that.” as always a straightforward princess, he thought. but then you finished with “i missed you too, but we're gonna see each other tomorrow anyway, right?”
he saw stars, your sentence hitting him so hard he had to take a deep breath to recompose himself. smiling ear to ear, eyes sparkling with this new found version of you, he tried to get more – always the eager one. “did you, huh? guess i can’t skip class now” he laughed at the teasing and you just braced yourself for what was to come, because you knew he wasn't finished “how could i ever deny that, especially now that i know you’ve been missing me, princess.”
you giggled, thinking he’s so endearing when he wants, always bringing you a much peaceful and warm feeling whenever he said things like that. you thought you could do what you always did – point out that he was too affectionate for no reason, maybe say “you would know everything about that, right?” but you felt too good for that, the “anonymity” of the phone call giving you enough courage to say what you really wanted. your voice sounded much more like a whisper – but he was too focused to miss anything – when you said “you better. three days are enough, don’t really want to stay another day away from you.”
he could almost see the pout forming in your lips as you finished your sentence and he could not believe that you were acting lovingly towards him. why? does it mean you feel the same as he does? or were you just being polite? did you even know what that did to him? he wanted to stay in this moment forever, he wanted to hear you say it over and over again. god, it was so unfair. why’d you have to be so goddamn perfect? “why are you so perfect? i don't know how to deal with it.”
after that, your call was just like any other conversation you guys had – except atsumu was extra happy this time. when you guys met the next day, he couldn’t hide his smile if his life depended on it. you guys talked like you always did, walked like you always did, but the feeling of fulfillment never left. and that made you think it was never not-romantic. you were never just friends, but how would it be now? it wasn’t until almost a whole month after your convo that you finally got your answer.
“welcome to the club, then,” you whispered and atsumu was really starting to think the boys convinced you to prank him. you were even coping with his corniness. “could i be any other way? i have to get even with you somehow, right?” you blurted, mindlessly.
and he lost it. he was way too down for you for this to be okay. he dropped dead in his bed, eyes glassy thinking about what that meant. what it all meant. “why do you do this to me?” he voiced out, sounding weak and in much need for a hug.
but you’ve had enough, “why do you do the things you do to me? i don’t know if you know what it is, but it’s mutual, you know?” you said. sounding much more calmer than you actually were, you swore it was getting on your nerves. you knew it was time to be honest with him. you’ve been so infatuated with the boy but never managed to demonstrate just right.
afternoons at miya’s household were a very common, very nice thing between the inarizaki boys. they would often have sleepovers and game nights when there were no classes and everything was so light that time passed by almost too quickly. when you finally accepted to be part of the movie nights it was only because atsumu had tenderly caressed your face, asking very softly – very persuasively – for you to be there, he said he really needed you to go. so you went. knowing full well that he had taken advantage of a new found weakness of yours – his furrowed brows and pouting lips as he asks something to you and you could never deny his pretty pouting lips.
as you got there, atsumu greeted you with a tight hug before any of the boys could see you, thinking maybe you wouldn’t be too comfortable with pda – but mostly because he knew neither of you would hear the end of it. then he walked you in and as you took your shoes off you saw osamu standing by the couch offering his spot while waiting for you to join them. but you denied, a bit shy – which was atypical of you – as you walked past him and sat down the closest you could to atsumu.
and that went pretty well for the night, you both on your own moment. sometimes making comments about the movie, sometimes complaining about the boys chit-chatting during it. but it came to an end and you had to go home. atsumu guided you to the front door, eyes dancing on your figure as he looked at you through his lashes and you knew something was about to come “thanks for coming, love. it was much nicer with you here, you know.”
everyone eyed you two, atsumu could already feel his cheeks growing kind of hot as aran started, “well, look at you getting comfy.”
you gave him a tight lipped smile, surprisingly not feeling shy at all anymore as you replied bluntly “nothing wrong with that, right?” then you turned to atsumu, hand resting on his knee, voice just a bit softer than the first time you spoke, “right?”
he laughed, a truehearted sound and it melted you. for a moment you let go of any restraints, your eyes glued on his as he smiled at you. you felt your heart so warm, your body was floating at the sudden realization that he was just as translucent with his feeling as you were with your bluntness. his arms came to rest on your shoulders as his hand shoved your face on his chest, ruffling your hair lovingly “yeah. right, love.”
you could only smile, feeling truthfully happy with the interaction and the boys decided to not comment on it, even as they saw the brush of atsumu’s lips on your forehead – a quick kiss being pressed there as he squeezed you lightly on his embrace – and your eyes sparkling, face just as calm and receptive, like they never saw before.
you nodded slowly, body swaying awkwardly as you asked, “are you going to kiss me?” your voice sincere and calm, your eyes low and your lips slightly pouting.
he slowly grabbed your waist, eyes never leaving yours as he felt your hands on his shoulders and then on his neck. it took a lifetime for him to touch your lips with his own, but when he did, time felt like it stopped totally. the kiss was soft, calm and reassuring, both of you putting all your feelings in it. when his tongue dragged on yours slowly you felt like there was no floor touching your feet. you got closer to him, fingers running through his locks as your chests pressed together. atsumu was losing his mind, a soft sound leaving him as he felt you reward all his actions and advances with only one kiss. and he would never forget it. the urge to squeeze your waist overcame him. he did just that, hand caressing your hip as you guys broke apart, panting from the lack of air.
atsumu thought he couldn’t be happier, finally having the opportunity to feel this close to you. finally able to see your true colors. “do you want that?” he asked, lips forming an inevitable smirk, eyes flicking to your lips quickly before returning to yours. you stopped mid-track, the butterflies in your stomach making you remember the very first time you felt this – when you first met atsumu. your mind was racing, your eyes failed to maintain eye contact and fell on his lips, coincidentally right when he decided to wet them a bit – which he often does when feeling nervous. you flustered even harder, nervously looking back at his eyes only to get lost again.
you tried your hardest to remember what it was that he asked, but nothing came to mind and “huh?” was all that left your mouth.
he absolutely adored you, growing excited by the minute he repeated with a smile “do you want it? a kiss?” and that’s all that took for you to snap back to the moment, you brows furrowing as you said “are you for real?” he tilted his head to the side, smiling harder.
“yes…” you muttered, “i want a kiss.”
“i wanted to do that for so long, love…” he said, his arms hugged your waist and you kept yours around his neck.
“since we met,” you replied, his brows shooting up in confusion but you didn’t let him ask as you continued, “i wanted to do that since we met…”
he embraced you even harder, with all he could. his mind blank with only you, you, you replaying over and over. he drowned in your scent, with his face in your neck he whispered, “i don’t think i will ever have the strength to let you go.”
and you knew he wasn’t only talking about the hug you shared but it was okay, because you felt the same “i don’t think i will either.”

Hey :) I was wondering if since it’s a leap year you would maybe write a oneshot or blurb or smth with James Maguire x reader (maybe like Quinn!reader from your series??) where she proposes on the 29th of February bc it’s a tradition that comes from Ireland?? I just think it would be so cute bc he just totally wouldn’t see it coming and I’ve never seen anyone do it in a fic before
Leap Day (James Maguire X Quinn!Reader)
Masterlist
Request Something!
Summary: You, the girls, and James are now well into your twenties. Life is perfect, except for one little thing that’s been on your mind. After taking with your friends about it, you figure you should take matters into your own hands.
A/N: won’t put it on my series masterlist, but this could be seen as an epilogue of sorts to the fella series (even tho it’s not finished yet lol) but obvi it can be read as its own thing. Also im american so sorry for any terminology and such i get wrong. reader, james, and the girls are obvi aged up
***
If you had told your younger self that you and your friends ended up staying in Derry after finishing school, she would’ve thought you lost your mind. All she thought about was graduating and leaving home, traveling the world, and escaping her pain-in-the-ass sister Erin and somewhat crazy family.
But if she saw the life you had now, she’d probably understand. Because you had everything you truly wanted.
You had a nice little job close to your flat where you managed a bookstore. It was a quaint shop that became a frequent stop for some of the local teenagers. Erin also stopped by every now and then to boast about what she had already read.
When you weren’t working, you were with your friends. You were a bit more tame than you were in your adolescence, but that all usually went out the window when Michelle got a drink or two in her. Which happened often.
But the best part of your day was when you’d go home to see your boyfriend of many years, the love of your life, James Maguire.
“So, what’s goin’ on with you and him, anyway?” Michelle asked as she messily poured everyone a glass of wine. Every now and then, you and the girls got together for a night to get drunk and catch each other up on anything that happened since the last time you’d gotten together. For some reason, you and James were a bit of a hot topic tonight.
“What d’ya mean, Michelle? You know what’s going on with us.” You laughed, taking your wine glass from her.
“I mean, when are the two of you getting hitched? Has he even popped the question to ya?”
“Believe me, Michelle, you’d all be the first to know if we got engaged.” You said a bit glumly, downing your drink and waving your glass around for Michelle’s attention to fill it again.
“He still hasn’t asked you?” Clare asked with an incredulous look. From the start, she had been a big supporter of your and James’ relationship. If it was up to her, you’d probably have a few kids and a house in the countryside by now. “You’ve been going out since we were sixteen! And you just turned twenty-five a few months ago, didn’t you?”
“Yup.” You responded, popping the ‘p.’ “Nine years and no ring.” You held your bare hand up to prove your point. “But I don’t mind too much. As long as we’re together, that’s really what matters.”
“Aw, that’s sweet.” Clare cooed.
“It’s shit.” Michelle countered.
“Michelle’s right, Y/n,” Erin said, grabbing a crisp from the bowl in the middle of the table. “You’ve been waiting for James to propose since we finished at Our Lady Immaculate; admit it.”
“Have not!” You laughed at the absurdity of your sister’s sentence, but the looks everyone gave you made it die down. “Okay, maybe a little. But not seriously! It was just like a dream, you know? Like Erin thinking she’ll get published or Granda thinking Ma will actually divorce Daddy.”
Everyone giggled, except for Erin, who was grumbling about your little jab.
“Be serious, Y/n!” Clare laughed, patting your hand. “You’ve been waiting for him to ask for a long while.”
You looked down at your glass, swirling the wine around with a sigh.
“Maybe a bit.” You answered quietly. It hadn’t really nagged at you too much until recently. After all, you had been together for almost a decade, and everyone else around you seemed to be getting engaged or married. You loved James; truly, you did. But it felt like you were missing out a little. “But I’m fine with waiting.”
“The question is, Y/n, how long are you gonna have to wait until he actually does it?” Erin asked, leaning forward to stare at you. You shrugged, not really knowing the answer and not really wanting to respond.
“You might as well ask him, Y/n!” Your cousin Orla said with a grin. She was always an optimist. “He might just be scared you’ll say no!”
“You know, now that you say it, that’s probably why he hasn’t asked yet,” Michelle said, taking a sip from her wine glass that had been filled more graciously than anyone else’s. “After all, James is a pussy.”
“Don’t call my fella a pussy, Michelle!” You reprimanded, yet you still laughed along with everyone else.
“I can call my cousin what I want. And the fact is that he’s a pussy!”
“You know, that’s not a bad idea, really,” Clare said when everyone’s chuckles had died down. She gasped. “This is a leap year! You could ask him on the twenty-ninth!”
“That’s next week, Clare.” You said a bit nervously. Of course, you’d marry James in a heartbeat. But the thought of proposing, especially so soon, made you a bit sick to the stomach. Now you realize why James probably hasn’t asked you yet.
“It’s either next week or another four years, Y/n,” Michelle said with a teasing smile.
You gulped, feeling everyone’s eyes on you. As you thought about it, you had to admit that it wasn’t really a bad idea. Sure, you had less than an ideal amount of time to plan everything out. But you could probably get something small but nice together.
“Okay… Who’s going ring shopping with me?” The girls squealed at your question, getting up to surround you in a drunken group hug.
***
It was the twenty-ninth, and you were a nervous wreck. The ring weighed heavy in your pocket as you paced around your dining room. Dinner was sitting waiting on the table, and you were playing your little speech of love over and over in your head. All you needed was James, who should be home soon. But as the minutes ticked by, you wished the clock would freeze so you could have more time to prepare for this.
“Darling, I’m home!” James called out as he opened the door, and you realized you were out of time. You skipped out to the front hall to greet your boyfriend.
“Hi, Jamie.” You cooed, giving him a hug and kiss on the cheek before stepping away so he could hang up his coat.
“Sorry I’m a bit late, needed to finish some things at the office.”
“Oh, that’s okay, hun.” You waved your hands, both to dismiss his unneeded apology and to get rid of some nervous energy.
James gave you a quick peck before walking off to the bedroom to change, leaving you to overthink a bit more. You wanted tonight to be perfect. James deserved nothing less than that.
To pass the time, you grabbed a candle and placed it in the middle of the small table, finding a lighter to light the wick.
“It’s so nice to be home,” James murmured as he walked over to you, arms slinking around you to pull you close to his chest. He buried his face into your neck, leaving a kiss or two before taking a deep breath. “Dinner smells good.”
“Thank you, Jamie.” You turned your head to kiss his cheek before pulling away from him. The two of you sat down and started putting food on your plates.
You talked about anything and everything, James leading most of the conversation, which you were grateful for. You felt that if you had to talk too much, you’d either stutter too much or end up spoiling your surprise. James held your hand most of the time, playing with your fingers absentmindedly as he talked about something amusing that happened at work.
Eventually, your plates were clear and your cups were empty. James was finishing up a story about something a few of his lads had done while they were all watching some sports game you didn’t know much about. You knew that now was your time.
“Jamie?” He hummed, perking up at the sound of his name.
“Yes, love?”
“I love you.” You didn’t really know how else to start.
“I love you, too, N/n,” James said, smiling as he squeezed your hand.
You took a deep breath, about to give the speech that you’d been preparing in your head.
“I’ve known that you were the one for me since we were fifth years. Probably since I first saw you at the bus stop. That’s probably crazy, knowing something like that so early and so young… But it’s true.” You laughed, thumb sweeping over his knuckles. “These have been the best years of my life, being with you. And it might be a bit selfish of me, but I want more of them.”
“Y/n…” James whispered, tilting his head. “What are you saying, darling?”
“We have a bit of a tradition here.” You say, wiggling your hand from James’ grasp and standing up. “Ladies’ Privilege, Bachelor’s Day, whatever you fancy calling it. Where on Leap Day, girls can propose to their fella.” You stuck your hand in your pocket, fiddling with the ring. “And seeing how it’s Leap Day now, and I have a ring and all, I guess there’s just one last thing to ask.”
James’ expression turned even more stunned when you got down on one knee, now holding the silver band up in front of him.
“Will you marry me, Jamie?”
In the few seconds of silence after that question, you could feel your heartbeat in your ears. He looked at you stunned, and you desperately wanted to know what was going through his mind. How long would you have to kneel on the ground for him to give you an answer?
But then he smiled brightly, and all your worry slipped away.
“Of course, I’ll marry you!” James slipped out of his chair to join you on the floor and grabbed your face, giving you a long and deep kiss. You gripped his curls in your free hand, the other resting on his shoulder. When he pulled away, he let out an airy laugh. “I never thought I’d be the one being proposed to.”
“Well, there’s a first time for everything.” You giggled with him as you slipped the band onto his ring finger. “Happy Leap Day.”
“Happy Leap Day, indeed,” James said before kissing you again.

unrequited love <3
Tumblr media
pairing: christopher sturniolo x reader
summary: you always thought chris didn't like you back until nick made you realise
a/n: this is quite long, and i have no idea if it makes sense, but i like the concept of it :) happy reading ! heheh
you and chris had been friends for only about a year, but to you it was an entire year of what you thought was unrequited love. what was it actually? chris being scared to make a move
you had met the triplets at a mutual friend’s birthday party. you and matt had bumped into each other, him knowing who you were (you had no idea who he was, but anyways). upon talking for a couple of minutes, nick had come to matt to tell him where their seat was on the large table which stood in the middle of a lit garden venue in los angeles. nick had fallen in love with you instantly, stealing you from matt and taking you over through a little path which led to another section of the venue which had a pool. soon enough, you, nick, and madi had become the magical trio. after talking for about half an hour, you had discovered that nick and matt were triplets – there was a third one named chris. nick had promised you to introduce you to chris by the end of the night, sensing that the two of you would get along; but the three of you had gotten along so well that you forced everyone to move to the seat to their left until there was a space next to nick’s seat. you gladly accepted the seat, glad you had found someone to talk, since you had gone to the party alone
nick had kept his promise – well what happened was that nick was so excited for you to sit next to him that he had totally forgotten about chris, and he ended up sitting between you and complete stranger; but at least nick was right. you and chris clicked within seconds. like, literal seconds
the moment you laid eyes on the boy, you were whipped. he was the prettiest boy you had ever seen. ever. you weren’t one for falling in love, and you had never really had a ‘crush’ since middle school, yet the boy you hadn’t even told your name to casually walked into your heart and made it his home, without even knowing
it’s been a year since then, and your feelings haven’t changed – they had only gotten 10x stronger with every smile, conversation, and late night drive you two had taken, which was a lot. today was no different; you had woken up in the boys’ LA house yet again after the millionth sleepover you guys had had, and the day went by pretty quick. you had left the house after breakfast to go to the mall with nick and madi, and you guys returned home later that afternoon – but the entire trip, you had something on your mind. chris had been acting weird since you got to their house last night. he’d talk to his brothers and madi normally, but you had the feeling he was avoiding you. you thought you had done a great job at hiding that you were upset, but nick knew, and he knew exactly what it was about
he had caught on to the way you and chris got along, but decided to keep quiet just not to make things awkward. yet the way chris laughed louder at your jokes than at anyone else’s, and the way you blushed every time he smiled at you did not go unnoticed from nick. once you got back home, madi got into the shower, which nick took as an opportunity to confront you about the situation
unbeknownst to you, chris had also fallen in love with you when he met you. though he was slower to realise what the feeling was exactly, you had also made your way into his heart. big time. you were all he ever thought about when you weren’t around, and his first thought the second he woke up in the morning. hell, he thought of you when he was upset, immediately making him smile
“hey y/n, can you come with me for a sec?” nick asked you. you gave him a quick hum and followed him to his room. he sat down on the bed and patted the spot next to him, signalling for you to join him. you sat down, and he pulled you in for a silent hug. “what’s this for?” you questioned. “i know chris can be difficult sometimes, just give him time. he’s trying to figure shit out ‘cause he doesn’t want to hurt you. you can trust me when i tell you he cares about you though.”. that one small sentence felt like being hit by lightning, but you didn’t want to assume anything, so you went on. “what do you mean?” you said through a laugh. “i just, i noticed the way you act around him, and the way he acts around you. i know he has your heart, y/n – and you have his. he’s just scared of losing you.” nick reassured you. now, the lightning bolt that had hit you before gave you electrical energy. energy full of love, and it was circling in your blood and all around you, and you were emitting it all around nick’s room. you would’ve sworn chris never thought of you like that, but you were so glad he did. so, so, so glad he did. “do i just like, wait for him to do something, or do I help him out?” you asked nick. “i mean it would help me out a ton if you did something because seeing him be so awkward and weird around you makes my eyes dry. oh god, and the annoying questions ‘where’s y/n?’, ‘did you talk to y/n today?’ ‘nick when’s y/n coming over?’.” you giggled, your heart fuzzy and warm from the thought of him constantly thinking of you, the same way you always thought of him. “thank you – so much.”
now you found yourself knocking on chris’s bedroom door. he let out a ‘yeah?’, so you opened his bedroom door – and there he was, sitting on his bed, the pretty boy you loved so dearly. “oh, hey.” he said, locking his phone and setting it on his nightstand. “hey, uh, can we talk. like it’s not something too serious, but i guess it uhm-” your voice cracked. your palms were starting to get sweaty and your heart was starting to pick up it pace. “i guess it means a lot to me.” you finished. “of course, what’s up?” chris said, a worried expression on his face. “you know when we met at that birthday party? and we were sitting next to each other and you were god knows where and then you sat down in your seat next to me ‘cause you were hungry?” you questioned. “mhm” he said, signalling for you to continue. “i just, i remember the second i my eyes met yours i-“ you let out a breathy laugh and continued – “i may have thought you were really cute – and that may have never changed.” you weren’t nervous anymore, not when he gave you that smile. not when you realised that he was blushing. not when he got up and walked over to his desk chair, which you were sitting on and bent down to come to your level, grabbed your face in his hands and kissed you
“i wanted to ask you to go on a date last night, but you, nick, and madi had already made plans to go to the mall today and i just wanted you for myself.” he admitted, looking you in the eyes with nothing but love. “you’ve got me, pretty boy. i'm all yours.” you said, kissing the bridge of his nose. he held out his hands and pulled you up from his chair, and hugged you tight. you had never felt so loved, and chris didn’t plan on making you feel any less loved. after all, your heart was a pretty comfortable spot for him to stay in, and you felt quite comfortable in his, too
