"Thank you, New York! It was wonderful playing one last show in the greatest city in the world!"
Roman waves at the crowd as he walks off, face lit up with excitement. He pulls out his phone from his skirt pocket, all the notifications being texts or calls from his friends. However, one stood out the most.
stupid idiot 🥺❤️: congrats on the last show. excited for tomorrow ❤️❤️
He smiles before going towards the back exit, clicking on the contact. Once he's outside, he hits the call option. The smooth voice instantly ringed through, creating a sense of familiarity he wanted to feel in person. Sure, they called every night after their shows, but that really wasn't the point at the moment.
"Hello, dear," The voice speaks.
"Hey, Jan! How was your show?" Roman asks, failing at trying to seem calm and collected. He waves at the fans walking out of the arena, receiving squeals in return.
Janus laughs, "Exhausting, yours?"
"Horrible!" Roman exclaimed dramatically, resulting in a snort from the bassist.
"Why's that?"
"It's my last concert! I won't be able to see my adoring fans until I write more music! And how draining of a job is that? I mean, sure, it's fun, but—"
"Roman Prince, are you saying you don't want to come home and see me? I'm hurt." Janus gasps, and Roman could almost see how he'd put his hand against his forehead before tipping back to mock his own antics.
"Shut it, you," Roman rolls his eyes, forgetting the other wouldn't be able to see, "You know I miss you."
With a laugh, "And I, you. However, I should get going. They'll drive off without me."
"Bye, mi amor," He smiled, "te quiero."
"Je t'aime, davantage."
-
The flight couldn't have been any longer, he thought.
He had been yelled at by the old lady in the seat in front of him, had water spilled on him, and his seat mates couldn't keep their hands off of each other. What a mess that was.
However, he thinks, it'll be worth it once he's met with the eyes of his lover.
Roman sets his bag down on the seat in front of him, ignoring the paparazzi's loud camera snaps outside of the airport. He was right in front of the clear doors, waiting for Janus to meet him there.
Suddenly, he hears the loud rambling of the voice he'd grown up with. Remus.
"Rem! Over here, dingus."
The man looks up, before breaking out into a grin. "Ro!"
He pulls Roman into a hug, slightly taking the air out of him, "Remus, please, I do need air—"
"Oh," Remus shrugs, letting him go. Wait, if his twin was here, then that meant—
Roman looks around, trying to spot Janus, before seeing him still walking. He seemed to be taking his time as he talked with Virgil. Roman rolled his eyes, trying his hardest to not yell at the man to just hurry the fuck up.
Finally, Janus looked up, face lighting up. He begins to run, and so does Roman, because oh, my god, it's been months.
They meet in the middle with a hug, Roman spinning Janus around despite the latter being the taller of the two. He sets him down, looking up at him, before leaning up for a kiss. It ends shortly, though that was okay, because they were home. It could continue any time.
"Hi."
Janus laughs, "Hello."
Roman pulls them into another hug, as if Janus would just disappear once he looked back up like he had in his dreams. But, nope, this was real.
The taller male grabs Roman's chin with his fingers, pushing him away from his chest gently. He presses a quick kiss to his forehead, "Let's go home, superstar."
"Let's."
"Thank god, I thought we were gonna stay here forever!" Remus exclaims. Virgil smirks, walking ahead and following.
Roman laughs, before feeling his hand being intertwined with his lover's. He looks up, smiles and drags them out to catch up with their friends, who were exchanging secrets between each other.
This was home.

🎵🎵🎵 gob, roman roy, gay michael from some of my best friends 💞
Ahhhh what choices!!! Thank you <3
Gob - obviously literally any and all Queen songs and I do have a whole playlist titled by and starting with, for angst, "Liability" by Lorde and ending, of course, with the most Gob song ever, "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen. Not counting any of those or anything from my blunder playlist (sorry for self-promo, i just have much love for him and have too many songs) or the obvious ones from the show, okay, "Dancing Through Life" from Wicked (c'mon, "life is fraught-less when you're thoughtless"????). Just the beginning like it is in the link lol.
Roman Roy - As much as I'd love to say "Motherlover" by The Lonely Island, I'll go with "Mama" by Kate Miller-Heidke (amazed it took me this long to put one of hers on here like I"m ashamed of myself). But c'mon "Mama, Mama, I wanted to please you/Mama, Mama, I wanted to please/Dadda, dadda, I wanted to be better, better/I wanted to be Mama/I wanted to be you/I wanted to be you, Dad…" like jesus christ, Kate, stop it! you already wrote the whole blunder love story in song form (YES I'M SELF-PROMOTING AGAIN, THIS PLAYLIST IS MY GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT)
GAY MICHAEL - GOOD FUCKING ASK THANK YOU I'M DYING. Okay…I feel like when the ex-bf comes back in the first episode, it's a very "Are You Fucking Kidding Me?" by Kate Miller-Heidke moment. And "Oh No!" by MARINA is a Michael song, and even more fitting for gay Michael because gay.
Send me a ♫ + a character’s name or a ship and I will respond with a song that reminds me of them

hey dude for the music challenge u should do ALL OF EM
heh heh heh... such was my plan ALL ALONG. i will now use this ask as the place to do it (here’s the post btw)
1. A song that reminds you of your childhood: anything from Fiddler On The Roof (the original Broadway cast recording)... my dad loves Fiddler On The Roof and he used to play it all the time
2. A song to sleep to: heh, anything at 2am. but really New York And Back by Leanne & Naara
3. A song that your best friend loves: oh god, really? cmon i cant just know that...! ummmm mazie and i had a really in depth running conversation about her favorite music about two years ago but im forgetting it all. im PRETTY SURE Venus Ambassador by Bryan Scary & the Shredding Tears was the inspiration for her OC Stuart who we both love and occasionally develop
4. A song that hypes you the fuck up: HEH ANYTHING....! oh my god this is a haaaaard one because of how many options i have!!! but also: Awaken by Riot Games feat. Valerie Broussard, because WHEN THE DEVIL IS KNOCKINGGGGGGGGG... SO ALL YOU RESTLESS
5. A song you like to daydream to: i can only say “heh anything” so many times!! literally i daydream to basically every single song; its foundational to how i consume music. i’ll bring out the real heavy hitter now and say Follow You Down by Zedd feat. Bright Lights. ive got some REAL good daydreams for that one
6. A song that’s on at least 3 of your playlists: *breath in* no just kidding, i do my best to make sure my playlists arent too similar. the day you stop me from putting I Wanna Get Better by Bleachers on every character playlist is the day i die tho
7. A song that you love from a genre you don’t usually like: this should be easy; lemme just flip through my catalog of “songs i bought independent of their albums because i was building an 8tracks playlist in iTunes”... actually no, Planetary (GO!) by My Chemical Romance! i dont usually like whatever subgenre of rock MCR is all that much but this one GOES (fittingly shjfdis)
8. A song that you liked when you where 10 that still slaps: Der Kommissar by Falco. no fucking hesitation. i can thank my fluent-in-german mom for this one
9. A song that makes you want to go on an adventure: Zero by Imagine Dragons! ive daydreamed some poppin’ space adventures to that one
10. A song you’d want to dance with your partner to ( or future partner ): so, so much... NOT Jenny by Studio Killers because i just wanna make out to that one; maybe I Go Crazy by Paul Davis
11. A song to stomp around and pout to: difficult, because when i pout, i pout like grimbark jade, in that i go “actually im better than everyone and you can all smd.” then again, having made that clear, Roman Holiday by Nikki Minaj (shoutout: @floralmarsupial for killing me with that lyricstuck)
12. A song to listen to whilst you lie in a meadow: Folding Chair by Regina Spektor. TOO EASY
13. A song that reflects your views on love: uhhhhh. huh. polyam moments? no songs about polyamory moments? being polyamorous fundamentally affects my views on love in a way im not sure ive ever heard a song capture moments? Hot Air Balloon by Owl City because i’ll be out of my mind, and you’ll be out of ideas pretty soon, so let’s spend the afternoon in a cold hot air balloon
14. A song to sing to the sun: i feel like its probably not the intended spirit of this question, but Coming Over (feat. James Hersey) by Dillon Francis & Kygo. im usually more of a nighttime girl but honestly? call me xoxo
15. A song you like that sounds like its on the soundtrack to an indie coming of age film: ohhhh my gooooddddd literally any fucking Bastille song. any of them. thats like their whole angle and i LIVE for it. im picking Snakes because snakes are biting at my heels, the worries that refuse to let us go; ive been kicking them away and hoping not to let them take control
16. A song that you like that romanticises being a teenager: i would love to say Teen Idle by MARINA for the irony but i cant bring myself to. (ill still link it tho.) real answer is Centuries by Fall Out Boy, because whether or not it actually romanticises being a teen i just feel it yknow
17. A song that makes you want to grab your friends jump up and down dancing and screaming the lyrics: why did they write a question to which the only answer is Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen? i dont get it. just kidding another acceptable answer is Toxic by Britney Spears (my white is showing im sure)
18. A song that you like that the lyrics are just so beautiful they’re practically poetry: well actually i have such good taste that every song i listen to is poetry. (trying to remember the lyrics i cried to out of nowhere yesterday. oh right it was The Draw by Bastille but most of it doesnt fit the question as much) ANY Hozier song. im linking his fucking artist page because im NOT KIDDING. ANY HOZIER SONG. i toyed with picking a specific song as an “also, it’s this one haha” but no, im dead serious. i cant pick just one
19. A song that you can imagine listening to in an abandoned church ( if it isn’t hozier im judging you, but whatever ): ironic! to pick a specific Hozier song this time (because op is right, he’s the only choice), Talk
20. A song from the soundtrack of a film that you like so much after the film finished you immediately looked for it: hm, i feel like i have done this before, but i cant recall when... well i didnt go “oh fuck bop [blacks out]” but Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin. remember Thor: Ragnarok? that was a good movie
21. A song for when the sun has gone down and you are feeling absolutely buck-wild with exhilaration!: Lost In Japan (Remix) by Shawn Mendes & Zedd, because no song hits my city-hotel aesthetic quite like this one does
22. A song that makes you feel like you’re strolling through Ancient Greece living your best life: ancient Greece...! that throws a fun twist in it; Don’t Leave Me (Ne me quitte pas) by Regina Spektor
23. A song that when you listen to it you’re transported to a liminal space, time is pointless and you must sit and wallow in the void that remains: Shots (Broiler Remix) by Imagine Dragons feat. Broiler. i glanced at this question early on and have been sitting on it the whole time. just LISTEN to it
23. A song to listen to on a long drive when you have the really strong urge to keep driving until you find somewhere to start a new life (preferably a europian city whose language you don’t speak): Evelyn by Kim Tillman & Silent Films. it just called to me here
im a little sad that i couldnt put every song ive ever listened to in here so heres some more good ones that i didnt choose: Citrine by Hayley Kiyoko (this is actually a whole EP), Lone Digger by Caravan Palace, Safe And Sound by Capital Cities, Absentee by Jack Campbell, River Flows In You by Yiruma, Instant Crush by Daft Punk, Link by Jim Yosef, Poke Bowl by Radiant Children, Optimistic by cehryl, Quiet by Lights, Superposition by Young the Giant, Far Too Young To Die by Panic! at the Disco, The Good, the Bad and the Dirty also by P!atD, Whatever It Takes by Hollywood Undead, LUNARIA (instrumental) by Chouchou. i know thats easily enough to make your eyes glaze over but mutuals especially it would mean a lot to me if you listened to at least a few of the songs i linked in this post because music means a lot to me and sharing it with other people is one of my favorite things :]

Below the cut: Emma’s commentary!
First-- this is more of a general/personal playlist for a journey into the underworld because I still don’t know if my characters are going there. Apologies in advance for how long my rambling gets!!
So God of Ocean Tides starts us off because of the 1. water imagery 2. religious imagery 3. themes on cycles of life and death and 4. reflective nature. We’re following the river, thinking about our lives, reflecting on the way we related to people, because all of that is going to show up in our journey through the underworld. This song is a preview. Also, I know it is a RIVER not an OCEAN or a SEA but it’s water at least okay you can’t always get what you want.
Tw for themes of suicide on this one. Next we have Above the Clouds of Pompeii which is not only a song with some fun Roman Empire allusions (since Rome stole from Greece I am stealing from Rome.) This one is a nod to limbo, because of its death themes. I like the way the repetitive nature can kind of mirror the way the souls ~float around in a circle (most of my greek mythology knowledge comes from Hercules and Percy Jackson so I don’t know if this is accurate but yes repeating limbo circles yes. Additionally, this song starts to run into the Asphodel Meadows-- a life that has not achieved any glorious deeds, but has profoundly impacted someone (the speaker in this song).
Another tw for suicide/death on this one. Love Love Love takes us by the Elysian Fields and to the Gates of Judgment as we think about people who achieved fame and fortune, people heralded as heroes, and people who met more tormented ends. While this song is about love, it is also the things we do for love, and those things are not always pure, and they do not always end well. That’s where the Gates come in. Some of the downfalls of the characters in these songs-- greed, wrath, etc. come up later as themes as we proceed into the Stygian Marshes. And, of course, we’re headed into Lust territory next, so “love” is an apt transition.
Song for Zula takes us into Lust, where it is dark and you can only hear wailing for lost love. This song is not necessarily about lost love, but it is about the pain that love can cause. I also love the way the instruments sound like wailing in a way, though I’m sure they are much more pleasant-sounding than what you would hear in the Underworld.
Next is Greed, with White Teeth Teens. I feel like this song is a little different from the others-- it’s less atmospheric, in my opinion, which works well for Greed, because it’s not dark anymore and perhaps you thought it was going to be less creepy here. Wrong! It’s just creepy in a different way, which I think is also true of this song about the dark side of a glamorous life. I love how Lorde uses “white teeth teens” as a symbol of the rich, power, and popular because that shiny imagery works perfectly for those shiny treasures-- and bones-- you’ll see floating in the water as you ride through.
Gluttony shares some similarities with Greed, and Are You Satisfied? shares some similarities with White Teeth Teens both musically and lyrically. They are both about a desire for glamour, importance, and power. I believe that Are You Satisfied? focuses more on the means of achieving those things however, and that’s why I think it works well for Gluttony, where gluttonous souls fish treasure out of the marshes.
Is it even an underworld playlist if you don’t use Hozier at least once?? I like how Arsonist’s Lullaby continues the themes of ruthlessness that have developed over the past few songs, but this is the first one that actually gets violent. And violence is exactly what you will find in Wrath, with sea monsters that will flip your boat over. I love the deep tones in this song; they remind me exactly of what murky waters in hell would look like. And of course all of the fire imagery fits perfectly with the usual image of hell, or the Paradise Lost image of a sea of fire.
I don’t know if all of Car Radio’s lyrics work for the City of Dis, because the song is about silence causing your thoughts to go crazy, but it’s the most chaotic song I can think of and I think that part about your thoughts running wild works for the City of Dis. I mostly chose it for the way it starts out pretty even, but by the end, there is screaming. I feel like that’s how a trip into the City of Dis would go. And I do like the song ending exactly on the word “silence” because it transitions very nicely into Suicide.
Tw and spoiler alert (Spring Awakening) for suicide here. Creating this part of the playlist was interesting because The City of Dis is so loud and Suicide is so much quieter. I thought Those You’ve Known worked well here because of the images of departed souls singing to those still alive-- the song is mostly sang by the character Moritz, who commits suicide earlier in the show. It is much quieter and more atmospheric than Car Radio, and I like the way it marks the transition from the City of Dis to Suicide.
Aaaaand personally I would never venture beyond the gift shop so we’re not gonna have a Tartarus song nopenopenope. I wanted to put a funny gift shop song but I didn’t want to ruin my #aesthetic so here were some of the contenders:
Gives You Hell by All-American Rejects
Highway to Hell by ACDC
Surprise song
Finally I’m gonna round out the playlist with Both Sides Now, Joni Mitchell’s 2000 version, because it makes me emo. And I think that if you went on a journey through the underworld, you’d come back with a lot to ponder, and realize that maybe you didn’t understand the nature of life (or death) as well as you thought you had.
