I try to not be mean and chill about SW discussions in real life or just ignore them 'cause most are into it for trend like Marvel but heck I'll give you my 2 cents hah when someone insults the PT in front of me.
I can be really mean in that... They must be pretty clueless if they think disnerd wars is over actual Star Wars or they are just some typical baby boomers (like in my case they think they know all about SW but actually think it's just sci-fi... okayyyy?).
But whatever with them. In my experience and I say this to any other PT fan. DO NOT EVER FEEL BAD FOR BEING A TRUE SW FAN! Wear your PT t-shirts with proud (I love mine and often show off them lol I give 0 f@ks about fake fans and I confront them only if they started to seek trouble). There's absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying Star Wars so don't let these weirdos get on your nerves. Be proud and feel it, then they will learn their place, but remember some will still come after you because they are bitter for never having two great trilogies to enjoy haha or because they have some weird superiority complex. Because it's just plain unpolite, jerk-move, idiotic behaviour to put down someone right there in person for liking stuffs they don't. As much as it makes me cringe everytime I see some people talk about SW as if they know it all while wearing disnerd wars t-shirt I don't appear out of nowhere to tell them those movies suck and are bad fanfiction right? I keep it to myself or my blog lmao.
Imo there are 3 types of haters. 1) I think it's in part generational (some baby boomers) but I got to know some of them that love the PT as much as the OT and also realized Disnerd Wars sickuels are lame. Still they enjoy other SW productions like R1 and the mandalorian which are good. The rest... still miss how things were better back then blah blah not only applies to SW but in life in general haha. 2) SW was a male dominated fandom during the OT so you know, bunch of old angry dudes around their 40s 50s with nostalgic fantasies of flying in space instead of realizing what SW really is about. For mentioning some aspects, haters often were whinny males like old Jay Leno, silly Topper Grace (lol the dude that edited TPM plus he used to hang with Ivanka Trump so... what can he know about SW??). Dumbasses like Simon Pegging lol Abrams, Ruin Dumbston, Pathon Oswa... Oswhatever hah etc... there are a bunch of known celebrities that still reduce SW to some childhood wetdream and promoted the backlash back then.
3) One of the boys (meaning females that get into the trend of hating the PT because boys do, the kind of lame girl that needs male approval). There are a bunch I got to know. Also are into Disnerd trends, "super mega Marvel fans" since they day 1 *cof* it became disnerd's property *cof*.
This is just my personal take but yeh, I share your thoughts, could be generational.
Cheer up! Always be proud of what you like and don't let others mess with you because you are kind, try to be polite of course but sometimes you gotta show them to f@k off lol if they cross the line.
There are many fans of the PT. Yeh... often we are not close to each other because the PT is not a simpleton product. If it were, it would be like Disney... everywhere... almost everybody is into Disney because it's easier, popular, trendy. SWPT are unique and only few can see how truely unique, inspiring, emotive they are. Quality over quantity 😏
Online vs. RL Fandom
A conversation with a coworker this morning got me thinking about this - it’s far from the first time this has happened to me.
Coworker was surprised I didn’t have my tickets for TROS. I told her I was disappointed in the new movies. She goes “Really? But surely they’re better than… those ones with Jar Jar…” I told her I thought the Jar Jar hate was overblown, as he’s really not in the movies that much. She reiterated that she “HAAATED” him, and added she didn’t care for the A/P romance either. I replied that since I basically grew up with the prequels (sort of a stretch, I was 16 when TPM was released), I didn’t mind all that. She went, “well, I grew up with the originals.”
There was also the time I wore a ROTS t-shirt that featured Padme and other characters, including Anakin. Another (again, older) coworker made the comment about “oh, but she’s wearing the ones from the crappy movies,” and she and a supervisor proceeded to comment on how awful they thought Hayden was.
Then the time at the dentist when I was watching a Star Wars documentary while being worked on and again she went, “oh, Hayden Christensen was terrible.”
Then the time at a group meetup on a completely unrelated topic, where their discussion turned to the A/P love story and how awful and dysfunctional it was.
And so on. I’ve pretty much lost count. And I hate it.
In short: I swear, it seems like in RL I only come across SW “fans” who hate the PT and the parts about it I love most. Is it more the “casual fans,” you think, or is it more of a generational thing? I know there are other PT fans out there, but the only time I seem to see them in “RL” is when I meet up with online friends at cons. Which isn’t really the same thing.
It really feels like I have to brace myself emotionally every time I publicly wear a shirt with prequel content on it, that people are going to say something snide. It’s pretty depressing.
Basically, I’m wondering how unique my experience is, whether anyone else goes through the same thing or not?

Only bad he has done was bullseye womp rats lol
Disnerd, Dumbston and co just want to take his main traits away from him to excuse their poor writing and anti-Lucas agenda. Luke has Padmé's heart. That's how George wrote him and made the parallels in his movies and on the way to shut damn haters mouth.
Another thing. Leia... so she's this "general" and not a "princess". Yet this "general" just stayed expecting Dad bring their brat son when in reality she would've done it herself with or without his help. She wouldn't just stay there for others to rescue her from her sadness. Princess Leia would've get down to business!
your fave is problematic: luke skywalker
just kidding, he has done nothing wrong, ever, in his life
