“Take only what you need…and then as much as you can carry from Pottery Barn because they’re paying me.”
~ Genevieve Cashgrab-alecki
In maybe the biggest brand partnership for Towwn yet, Gen wants you to remember to replace everything in your pre-teen’s bedroom with “sustainable” products from Pottery Barn Teen.
What should you do with your old bedding, you ask? Honestly, she doesn’t care. But here are some highlights:
1. Shoutout to old trinkets and upcycling out of obligation, but there’s that word “source” again. I hope it’s clear by now that this is just code for “purchase,” but that would be too honest.
2. It’s not even tangled…what’s the issue here??
She is confusion. Give her an Emmy already.
3. You know when the best time to paint is? After everything has been staged. Hands down, solid advice. But not to worry, this paintbrush has never seen paint and this can wasn’t even opened.
When she said “paint smarter” she meant “source someone else to do it.”
4. There’s an ask in my inbox about Charlie that I will get to, but this charade below is all him. Jared has never once commented on a Towwn post. But suddenly here he is with a “signature” pun to build engagement on an important ad opportunity. Seems legit.
(See also: this previous post for context)
If you’re skeptical or think I’m a cynic, just know it was worse on the separate joint post between Gen herself and PBT. As I’m sure it was expected that this post would be seen by even more people, Charlie pulled out the big guns and logged into all the accounts, Keegan included, and (I believe) responded as Gen accordingly to demonstrate how much engagement Gen brings to the table:
Meanwhile, her posts get less and less likes, her engagement rates rarely break 3%, and she continues to buy followers by the hundreds. And the lies will just continue…until next time!

So. This is for an anon ask I did not get, by the way. It was sent to me by a follower who was pissed at the Gen-hate that was wildly incorrect.
I volunteered. (I have anon ask off today because it's a freakin' holiday. Get over yourselves, folks. I'm free to turn it on and off as I please.) Especially because of the Danneel stuff that had me rolling with laughter.
So.
Shall we?
Anon wrote: When Jared has his breakdown, Gen didn't even visit him. She just went to the airport and brought Danneel with her, probably airing his dirty laundry to her on the way there. Gen is so fake. She uploads him for views and brand campaigns for her insta
Uhhh.... no. The first part alone is wrong. Jared flew straight home when it happened and Gen wasn't even with Danneel. As for Gen uploading Jared in videos and brand campaigns--you realize he could and probably has said no in the past? He could say "Nah, babe, I'm not in for it." And Gen would probably be okay with that!
Anon wrote: Her and Danneel would be wasted most of the time on their insta lives. They stay at home and do nothing but use their husbands money. Gen is way worse than Danneel.
Actually... no. Danneel stays at home. Gen at least does her thing with TOWWN, their farm, was on Walker a bit, travels a lot, goes to cons.
Now for the rest of anon's nonsense.
Anon wrote: and you guys say Danneel is a user. Danneel doesn't even post anymore 😂
Danneel is a user! She's had multiple failed campaigns with a number of companies. Her jewelry line? Failed. Her modeling? Failed. Her multiple attempts to try acting has also failed. She couldn't even get onto Supernatural without using Jensen! At least Genevieve got on by honest work!
(BTW, for all the anti-Gens out there? Genevieve also got onto Walker by way of honest work, not because of Jared!)
So what does Danneel have? Just the kids she has with Jensen that she undoubtedly uses to keep Jensen in line and have access to his money!
Anon wrote: At least Danneel changed her ways
And you based that on... what? Her lack of Instagram posts this past year? Sure... sure. She hasn't posted, but that doesn't mean she changed her ways. If you see her scant few outings, she's still as lazy and incompetent as ever. When Hilarie asked her to do a book campaign, Danneel didn't even read the freakin' book! And her marketing failed. Hilarie didn't even have a crowd.
And then there was that ridiculous One Tree Hill Charity Prom. Danneel was awful as always, conceited, and almost slipped in her so-called thank you speech when she was made prom queen when she mentioned "I wouldn't be here without my rich husband".
So yeah.
Gen does honest work. She comes from money. If she and Jared were to divorce tomorrow, Gen would be fine. Danneel however? Would not be.
GTFO with your Gen hate. Come back when you have something legitimate.

If Charlie and Michelle have additional responsibilities, that would make more sense for them to be hanging out that much with the Pads. But because we don't know, and because others seem to exploit their relationships, it's hard to know if they're actual hanger-ons or if they provide a valuable service.
Charlie at least seems to be closer with Gen. He works on TOWWN with her and Kelly Mickle so that's generally why he is around so much. He might work on other stuff with them (I don't know who else is working with them bts on stuff they're working on producing) or for/with Jared but I know primarily he seems to work with Gen.
Michelle is a different story and her history with stands, dest*el, anti-Jareds, etc., makes me VERY wary of her and especially her access to the Pads. But I also recognize that I don't know her and what she is like irl. Hopefully they are smart about the people they let have access to them and their lives.
Thanks, anon! I was familiar with the Towwn connection, but that wouldn't require him Charlie to be at RICC. And another anon mentioned Michelle being an assistant, so there's taht.
But yeah, fans tend to get protective over the Pads, especially Jared, because we've seen what 'friends' can do to him, but I think he's in a really good place right now and as long as he seems happy and healthy, I can put off my worrying.

Gen comes from a very rich family, she’s never needed Jared’s money. It’s also not Jared who gets her all of her business connections but Charlie Capen who has been working with Gen for years.
Gen has her own career outside of Jared. I know a lot of tinhatters and wife antis like to paint her as a failed actress, but she was actually pretty successful before retiring to be home with her children. Not counting Supernatural, a role she got herself and didn’t force her husband to have written for her like Danneel did, Gen worked consistently up until she started having children. Which is how you can tell she actually retired because of her children, unlike Danneel who used motherhood to cover up the fact that no one wanted to hire her. She preformed in four theater productions, appeared in at least one movie per year from 2004-2007, was the lead in Wildfire which ran for 4 seasons (2005-2008) and had a small cult following, was a recurring character on abc’s Flashforward (2009, it only ran for one season, but it did win an Emmy), and her final project was being a lead in the movie Hated (2012) which won several awards at various film festivals. And while she might not be the strongest actress (I personally like her acting, something about it evokes 1960s, slightly campy starlet), she did care enough about her craft to go to school for acting (graduated from NYU Tisch School of Arts with a BA in English and a BFA in Drama). She did an interview with Entertainment Weekly back in 2020 about reprising Ruby for the final season, and she talked about preparing to to return by reading her old scripts from season 4, looking at her old acting notes and prepping with Jared before filming. She did more work to appear on one episode than Jensen did to create the prequel. And while her role on Walker was technically because of Jared, Anna Fricke was the one who proposed the idea and Gen was very open about how she got the role the moment it was announced she was cast. No pretending she got the role on her own merit like Danneel did with that whole Sister Jo/Anael travesty.
Instead of sitting around spending Jared’s money like tinhats want her to (I’m serious, I’ve had the misfortune of seeing a few posts and they’re all lamenting why can’t she just be a good beard like Danneel and just quietly spend her husbands money. Lot to unpack there) she wanted a little bit of independence and to contribute to the household. So she started blogging because it meant that she could still be at home with her children while working. Jared doesn’t pay for her ads or her magazine interviews because that’s not how business works. Charlie Capen helps manage Gen’s blog and gets her these ad deals, writers for Towwn and helps her with networking. She’s not coasting by on Jared’s name, she just working and shares Jared’s last name because they’re married. Has Jared promoted her? Of course, he’s her husband and wants to support her. He’s also promoted his sister’s books, yet no one labels his sister a leech. In fact Gen’s instagram didn’t even have her last name for the first few years, she changed it when the trend of usernames ended and most influencers just started going by their legal names.
Gen might have a nanny to help with the kids, but almost every mom would if they could afford it. Raising children really does take a village. And it’s clear that both Jared and Gen spend a ton of time with their children and as a family unit despite having a nanny or two. Unlike Danneel, who hasn’t shied away from how much she dumps her children on the nanny even during a pandemic and sent them to school prior to vaccines because they just couldn’t deal with them anymore. Imagine living in a huge mansion, your only job being a stay at home mom, having a nanny take care of your children most of the time, the resources to hire private tutors for your children so that they can stay safe and you don’t have to play school teacher, and still saying “hmm, I’m seeing too much of my children. Better send them off to school so that I don’t have to deal with them for the hour a day I pretend to be a hands on mother.”
The long and short of it is, Danneel wishes that she was half the woman that Gen is. Gen is her own person who happens to be married to a very famous man, a man that she loves and supports at every turn.
"The long and short of it is, Danneel wishes that she was half the woman that Gen is. Gen is her own person who happens to be married to a very famous man, a man that she loves and supports at every turn."
This post was a joy to read for me because it beautifully explained everything I would have wanted to communicate about Gen but couldn't really put into words. Thank you, Anon! 💕

any stance Genevieve Padalecki takes about being "pro choice" or "environmentally conscious" is nonsense. she's given money to anti-abortion right wing politicians in the past. and the Padalecki's have their own private jet and multiple gas-guzzling cars. her "environmental organization" towwn with Charlie Capen is a BUSINESS. she's capitalizing on environmentalism (while "green-washing" her public image). that's all. Don't buy it.
I know she's a hypocrite in her environmental stances, playing the role of super-eco mom while non-stop shilling products in her insta account. What is even towwn about? I had a look at their webpage and I got literally zero information. I know Charlie Capen works with Misha in organizing Gish events, how did Gen and Charlie get involved with that?
"she's given money to anti-abortion right wing politicians in the past". Wow, anon, these are big words. How do you know that?

Hey Gen...your bullshit, racism, privilege, elitism, hypocrisy, and trickery are showing.
And they don’t make an injectable filler for that.
Jen asked for questions for her Insta Live for that new towwn project. So I asked what she's doing to make her environmentalism accessible to lower income communities and poc. And she blocked me lol
YOU WON!

Three days in and the amount of donation on Gen page hasn't moved. Maybe if she didn't chase people with her ads and fakeness..i only feel bad for the indigenous women who probably are expecting more donations to help their cause.
I was worried that I missed the fundraiser but I went to check on it and it’s open until tomorrow. Currently, this is where the conations stand.
Yikes.
I’m not surprised though because Gen has mentioned the fundraiser once? Twice? I checked the Towwn instagram and they posted a few more times than Gen did but considering no one seems to interact with their posts, I’m not surprised it didn’t bring much in. I did see this interesting comment on one of their posts...
Not sure what he’s talking about, but I did think it was interesting that after a week, the comments are still up. Getting lazy on the cleanup, Gen?

Excuse me while I ramble-vent for a bit…
I know I can’t prove it to y’all, but I am a BIG believer in empowering women (intersectional feminism always, of course). But I feel like this little stunt “summit” that paid Gen to sit on a panel, can’t be it.
I haven’t heard any other details so maybe I’m prematurely disgusted, but there’s gotta be more to empowering women than teaching them the TOWWN model of co-opting language from a worthy cause in order to build a name for yourself and feel good about slutting yourself out to consumerism.
Oh, sorry…my guy Charlie reminds me that’s just called “brand partnerships” these days.
If the panel was talking about current content creator trends, I wonder if Gen spoke about buying followers. 🤔
Because…ain’t no way.
I fully understand, in this current hellscape of American capitalism, women wanting to create their own path and be their own bosses. And maybe it’s the phrase “content creation” that has me ruffled. Because in the attention-based economy that is social media, nobodys like Gen are literally creating narratives that are manufactured in order to manipulate others.
And it WORKS!! And there’s an actual SUMMIT (what a pretentious title lol) who will charge you to come learn their “craft.”
Whatever this league of momfluencers is selling, it definitely can’t be empowerment through authenticity. Can it?? I mean, not when the most lucrative “brand partnerships” literally buy your messaging and have their own hand in creating your content. And if my content is being bought, how empowered am I really?? Am I really an entrepreneur or is this just shiny new packaging on the same old shit? “Girlboss,” indeed. But I suppose calling it a conference for getting rich by scamming your followers doesn’t have quite the same ring as “women supporting women.”
I don’t know, maybe this expensive summit weekend in Nashville (AKA New Austin, if you know you know) had more value than I realize. And it’s just the smarmy inclusion of Gen and Charlie that colors it poorly for me. Because truly, what measure of success got her on yet another panel? (Her wedding ring and subsequent bank account…duh 🤪)
To make myself feel better, here are some candid Gen face pics from the day:
And a YouTube video exposing influencer lies:
youtube
I hate it here. That’s it, that’s all.

More environmental virtue signaling from Gen today. She wants you to believe that 1.) magic fairies drop off these bags free of charge and evaporate your old sweaters into butterflies and 2.) that she actually gave away her designer jeans because she cares so much about saving the world.
Of course there’s a cost involved in these start-ups, this only makes sense. So you PAY for them to send you a bag to put your things into and then the return shipping is already paid for so long as it stays below a certain weight. There are several options but at minimum, one bag costs $14.50. A subscription option for 6 bags per year for $94 also exists. And that gets you access to their Rewards program.
But you won’t hear Gen mention any of that in her little ad or caption. Which is intentional.
While donating to your local charity shop is indeed free, there’s nothing saying that all or part of your donation doesn’t still end up in the trash. Especially if it’s rags already. They don’t pledge to resell, reuse, or recycle everything whereas Retold says this:
Clear as mud. Seriously, can someone translate that last sentence? Some of this sounds ok, but it also sounds like you’re paying them to use your textiles in their upcycling projects that they will continue to profit off of?
The Retold website also partners with several “sustainable” brands that you can purchase from their “Sustainable Store.” (Anyone else remember when Gen mentioned a storefront for the Towwn website?) And their rewards program goes something like this:
If you send them one scrap of cloth, they pledge to send you $15 in rewards but it doesn’t go back in your pocket like it says above. No, you get $15 worth of credit to spend on a bunch of brands you’ve never heard of. Here’s the link. I’ll wait for you to come back…
In case you’re not seeing it yet, the whole thing is a great big circle jerk of consumerism. It’s that image of the snake eating itself. Ain’t nothing for free. Especially not Gen and Towwn.
Here’s my point: Sustainability is a challenge. And I understand and appreciate anyone who wants to try to reduce their carbon footprint. But please stop treating this woman as if she is actually doing anything but patting herself on the back for profit.
If this bag still sounds like something you’d be willing to engage with, then that’s cool too. It’s not the worst trade off if you have the money to spare and if the textiles really do stay out of the landfill. I’m just here to be a good steward and to help you be an informed consumer. Per her branding for Towwn, Gen wouldn’t have it any other way. And whether you buy a bag or not, rest assured her check has already cleared.

Have her posts calmed down since Jared’s employment status is “questionable” or is just me? Like she was walking in sunshine up until Jared started to say Fuck the CW now not so much.
It kind of depends on what you mean by calmed down. Since the Walker finale, her posts have consisted of plugs for the book club, travel brags, and out rights ads or “brand partnerships.” I feel like it’s a clever little trick that she can space out the ads between her personal account and Towwn so that it looks a little less desperate. And by placing more numerous ad links in her IG story posts, it looks like she has posted less than usual.
But rest assured, she’s still hustling hard and will insert herself wherever she can. She’s probably also trying to give the illusion of being a busy mom and spending the summer with her kids.
There’s just not much to plug without Jared getting work for her, so in terms of content all she’s got is posing in the petting zoo he bought her. What an involved activist she is! 🙃

I know it’s for Pride month but what an interesting choice of song 👀
Charlie: Ok so, you’re gonna hold the hose real stiff and kinda like a peen while it shoots rainbows and we’re gonna set the whole thing to “I’m Coming Out.” It’ll kinda sound like you’re the one coming out, but most importantly it’ll maintain your streak of centering yourself in every important issue.
Gen: Hold my chunky supplement water! 🌈

What is the purpose of TOWWN?
It’s a vanity project of an elitist stay-at-home-mom who didn’t want to be a SAHM anymore and who wanted to be seen as making a difference. But unfortunately, she can’t just contribute to a cause, she has to “win” and be the perceived face of the brand.
Towwn was an excuse for a rigid perfectionist to build a platform of acceptable imperfection and market it to other people. Gen gets to be seen as saintly and relatable while her team sells her followers on crap she would never do herself. Except “imperfection” in this case is a bunch of centrist takes on environmentalism that will never make an impact on anything except the creator’s wallets. All Towwn ever does is recycle information you could find literally anywhere else and mix that with lists of products to consume. (Go to the search button at the top of my page and type Towwn for more on this.)
Once they did a bike giveaway and never revealed the winner. They’ve also posted some questionable content that still exists despite ample time to correct themselves.
So what’s the purpose? Exposure for GenPad and a way to feel like she’s contributing to the household income. Towwn is ultimately the thing it hates the most: a complete waste.
