(I've been trying to resist for 9 whole hours, but I cannot. Please allow me this one short whiny post.)

- Kate and Anthony got no on-screen courtship or wedding.

- We didn't get to see them on either of their honeymoons or see them find out they are pregnant or have the baby.

- Their pregnancy announcement was cut off.

- They left for India off screen with zero fanfare. (And this constant abdication of their responsibilities goes against the very core of who these characters are.)

I could go on, but I'm trying to keep this short. Netflix knew exactly what they were doing with all the Kate and Anthony promos leading up to this season. Purposeful false advertising. They had approximately 16 minutes of screen time after being the second most promoted characters after this season's stars.

I'll still love Kate and Anthony forever and will come back for any cameos in the future, and Simone and Jonny somehow managed to still be perfect despite the shittiest of shitty writing 👏🏾👏🏾

But Netflix and Shondaland can fuck off for the blatantly dishonest marketing.

Shondaland really doesn't give a shit about their actors do they? I'd heard rumours of past actors getting mistreated and the producers doing nothing to protect them, but this is the first time I've seen it. That's super interesting. & 2nd CHOOSING a partner she knows she can't have a kid with is entirely different from not being able to have a kid because 1) Queer people are also infertile and also choose to give up being able to have bio kids to be with their partners and 2) Francesca is literally able to have children in the end because of Julia Quinn Magic Dick???

She could have easily chosen not to have the kids she ends up having & be content raising Marina's children with Philip. She's a nonconformist already! It wouldn't have been a stretch for her to move in with the lady who doesn't care about society, only for her studies and children.

It IS NOT a stretch for Francesca to marry a man after being raised her entire life with everyone telling her that marriage is her entire purpose, attempt to have a child with him, lose that pregnancy after the tragedy of losing said husband, while struggling to understand her confusing feelings for his cousin since she literally has no idea what they mean and has no idea queer women are even a thing. she may think she can never really be with michaela in the way she wants to when she decides to remarry in the books. she may think she can never have a family with michaela - the way she yearns to in the books. she may fear she won't ever be accepted as her partner in the society she grew up in ON THE SHOW! but since this is Bridgerton there will be a Happily Ever After ending based on REAL LIFE LESBIANS who were able to live together, raise families together, and even get approval DIRECTLY FROM THE REAL LIFE QUEEN

so, there's been way too much infighting happening, and frankly a lot of disrespect in general in this fandom, and considering a lot of it is coming from either faceless anon blogs, burner accounts, or what I suspect are new people coming in to tumblr, here's the benefit of the doubt post:

how to tag: Luke, Nic, Polin, Colin, Lukola, Jakola, and Pen edition

tumblr is NOT like other social media platforms. cross tagging things that do not apply to your post generally just makes people upset. there's a very good reason for this: fandoms are communities, and for most people, tags are the community spaces. imagine you're going to the local library (for some people, your only library) and you're looking for a book on dinosaurs. you walk into the section and huh, strange, it's all about meteors? go to the front desk, has the dino section been changed? they take you back to the meteors. not what you're looking for. how about chickens? all well and good, but you want dinosaurs. okay, well, how about the ice age? no, you JUST want a book on dinosaurs. well, they say defensively, they're related. and what are you, anyway? the tag police?

well, first of all, ACAB, so jot that down real fast. but second of all, the outcome of this is that you leave without a book on dinosaurs. . .again. and again. and again.

at a certain point, you will either find that library useless, or you'll get upset.

so, here's the quick guide:

Nicola is in the picture or post? Awesome! Tag Nicola. No Luke? Don't tag Luke. It's just Nicola? Don't tag Polin, or Penelope, or Bridgerton, or Lukola, or whatever have you. It's just Nicola. Nicola and Jake? Tag Nicola and Jake. Tag Jakola. Done.

Nicola is there, but she's in Penelope costume. Cool! Tag Penelope. Tag Nicola. Bridgerton. Season 3. Shondaland. Sure, all justifiable. No Luke? No Luke tag. No Colin tag. No Colin? No Polin tag.

Pen and her and Colin's baby? Yes, tag Polin! No baby, just Pen? No baby, just Colin? Don't tag Polin.

Only Luke in the picture or post? Great! Tag Luke. No Nicola? Don't tag Nicola. Don't tag Lukola. Don't tag Bridgerton unless it pertains to Bridgerton. Don't tag Jakola.

The rule of thumb is- unless it is discussed or pictured, don't tag it. If it isn't there, leave it out of your tags. Otherwise, you're being kind of a jerk.

CAVEAT: If something or someone is discussed negatively. USUALLY, the courtesy is not to tag. Use an anti tag instead. Most people in a community do not go to that community to get dunked on. No, it's not discussion. Yes, it's rude. If you're talking about how much you hate apples? Just go to the anti apple tag. You get a community of people who also dislike apples, and if people DO like apples and go to that tag, they know what they're getting themselves into.

Basically, this is the 'don't get invited to a party and then shit in the pool' clause. Unless that party is a shitting in the pool party. In which case, have at it, and leave it in a tag that warns others

I think there would be a lot less issues in this fanbase if people just. . .stayed in their own lanes. This is where most of the tension is coming from. In the Polin days, it was from people making Pen/OC fics and tagging them Polin, obviously looking for eyes and attention from the larger tag, but ultimately upsetting people there for Polin, and now it's people tagging anything and anyONE that has to do with anything in the general cloud of Bridgerton (actors, love lives, etc.) all at once. Lukola and Jakola are different. Luke is not automatically Colin. Nicola in a picture does not warrant a Luke tag. If they're not there, leave them out of it.

Fandom is a community effort. Please have some respect for your fellow fan and tag accordingly. It's common courtesy, it's good practice, and it'll save a lot of headaches in the end.

I'm not the right person to send this kind of ask to. For all the show's promises of a colorblind utopia, it's been sketchy as hell from the beginning. It makes me side-eye Shondaland that the writers could get on Twitter and defend Nicola Coughlan, but have had nothing to say in defense of Regé-Jean Page (#NotMyDuke campaign), Ruby Baker, and Simone Ashley about the hate they’ve received. I also had the misfortune of seeing all the anti-Black comments made about the actor who plays John Stirling's appearance in TikTok videos.

I admittedly don't follow Charithra Chandran on social media, but in Simone's case, I've seen her be called manish (ignoring WOC's femininity to uplift white women is a classic racist move) and accused of being a mean girl for having the nerve to be thin in a cast with a plus-sized character. How dare she?

So yeah, this is one racist fandom. And it's perfectly valid to point out how differently Kanthony's been treated compared to other couples.

I was not born yesterday. Anybody can come into someone’s inbox (anonymously) and say whatever they please. Anybody can claim they have a source/friend who works in the industry/at Netflix/is a journalist(seriously I’ve never seen this many people who have such friends). Anybody can claim they are a journalist or work at Netflix.

These people have claimed it all yet no one has provided a shred of actual evidence(ex. stills or audio) to back up their claims. Most of their claims don’t make any sense(Benedict is next yet they haven’t casted Sophie and he’s going to have a threesome with a man?) and they constantly contradict each other(sister vs. cousin thing when John is a confirmed only child; Eloise is next, no Benedict is next, no Francesca is next🤦🏽‍♀️).

If you’ve read the books or paid any attention to the show at all those claims straight up make 0 sense. Benedict is supposed to be just floating around fiddling life away right before Sophie comes in. He’s right on target in the show.

Michael’s gender is just as integral to the plot as Sophie’s. Michael becomes the Earl of Kilmartin because he is John’s closet male kin(they are first cousins via their fathers who were twins). He has severe guilt because of that. He is a rake and had quite the reputation because he is a man and men are afforded to do as they please. Fran struggles with her fertility and decides to remarry because she wants children. You change Michael’s gender and you change everything about WHWW.

Not to mention that as the Bridgerton verse stands gay marriage is illegal. Gay people have to live in hiding. Fran and this fanmade character they have come up with cannot have a happy ending.

I see y’all trying to compare your delusions to Benophie, but while they aren’t exactly taking part in society, Sophie was Benedict’s legal wife. They have children and they have a life together where they don’t have to hide their love and their union.

If that isn’t enough think of the money Netflix/the pun locs hers would be losing out on making such a fucking idiotic decision. Selling a gender-bent WLW tragic romance to a mostly straight women audience will not go over well.

Or how about how it would look casting Masali, a dark skinned Black woman, in a role meant for a man.

I’m just going to come out and say it, a large part of this fandoms gullibility is due to the fans inherit anti-Blackness.

Even though this show is a Shondaland production, Shonda herself is a Black woman, and she prides herself on creating content for Black people, they don’t want a Masali to play Sophie Beckett.

That’s where these rumors begin and end. With people not wanting Masali or any other Black woman(cause even if Masali isn’t Sophie not for one moment do I think that Sophie won’t be Black) to be Sophie Beckett.

So with that said, until I see the last two episodes with my own eyes (or by some miracle they let Masali appear with Luke on The View or GMA next week)I refuse to believe the lies of the deluded.
