This is a story and stories have arcs. Characters are a certain way in the start, experience things, learn from those things and often change - for the better or for worse. There is often foreshadowing which hints at where a certain arc is leading us.

Christian is already getting into deals with Devi, is most probably sincere about them and it is pretty clearly leading to him eventually turning into a traitor among the Britishers and helping out Devi, whether or not she is romancing him. Having this mole on our side while also being wary of any possible betrayals, definitely betraying him several times and all else this path can entail is pretty intriguing to me and I suspect would be pretty fun.

What is fun in stories if we are not going to discuss and dissect all the elements going on in them that suit our tastes.

This is not a battle of the virtuous. The most moral character might be Ram, or if we are being honest, Ratan but romancing Christian in no way implies that Christian is a better person or a better partner, it simply means I find his path to be more intriguing and want to explore that. It is normal and fun to hate certain characters including Christian! It just gets insufferable and weird when you start targetting actual real people just for their choices in a story and start calling them names instead of just creating an anti-Christian post. Say whatever you want about fictional characters, just don't make the fandom toxic.

So this video/article is related to the CAA riots that have been taking place in Delhi since yesterday.

Yesterday CAA protesters and CAA supporters had gathered at Jafarabad, New Delhi and had started fighting with each other. However, earlier today these fights have escalated to full fledged riots.

Both the groups had started pelting stones at each other after peaceful protests turned into heated arguments, although it is difficult to say which group had started the riots. 

The police have been trying to keep the rioting to a minimum by acting as mediators, yet things have now escalated to religious rioting (not uncommon in India). In the rioting, we have lost head constable (N.E. Delhi) Ratan Lal.

2 civilians have also died, 20 civilians and policemen have Ben admitted to GTB hospital.

Yet amongst all this the press has been doing a good job in covering the event and showing us the true story. As a journalist today reported in the Times of India, he was ceremoniously welcomed by the Hindu Sena, a fanatical group of Hindus who are supporting the CAA. Later on, as he increasingly tried to cover the event, he was stopped by various men with lathis, who threatened him repeatedly and accused him of being a Pakistani, anti-national “Muslim” amongst other things. He was even chased in the auto he took to reach the nearest metro station. As the auto driver also recalls, “I had never been more afraid of my identity [as a Muslim] than I was at that moment”

This is a really shocking incident, revealing one of the ugliest facts of this protest.

I urge all of you, not just Indians, to campaign against tis mindless violence, and stop supporting fanatical religious groups.

Large scale violent demonstrations have seen in Assam and other Northeastern states against the passing of the bill. In other parts, protesters demanded that Indian citizenship must be granted to Muslim refugees and immigrants.

The Citizenship Amendment Act was passed by Parliament of India in December and it amended the Citizenship Act of 1955 by providing a path to Indian citizenship for illegal migrants of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, and Christian religious minorities, who had been persecuted from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan before December 2014. Muslims from those countries were not given such eligibility. This act was the first time religion had been used as a benchmark for citizenship under Indian law.

Large scale violent demonstrations have seen in Assam and other Northeastern states against the passing of the bill. In other parts, protesters demanded that Indian citizenship must be granted to  Muslim refugees and immigrants.

Major protests against the CAA were held at universities in India. Students at Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Milia Islamia witnessed brutal suppression by the police force. The protests had led to several deaths, heavy damage was done to public and private property, and local internet mobile phone connectivity was suspended.

The CAA protests started in December, 2019 and it is continuing affecting the lives of people and creating a sense of disturbance in the country, especially in the National capital of India.

Now, around 500 people, mostly women rose in protest against the CAA, blocking a major road at the Jaffrabad Metro Station since Saturday night.

On Sunday afternoon, BJP leader Kapil Mishra tweeted and invited those who support the CAA to Maujpur Chowk at 3 pm which indirectly answered the hindrance at Jaffrabad. By 4:30 pm, violent large scale protests are being witnessed in Maujpur in northeast Delhi. The anti and pro- CAA law protesters started a fracas that got elevated into throwing stones at each other and then setting vehicles on fire. Police had to fire teargas shells to bring the situation under control.

 Also, within some hours, the nearby areas of Bhajanpura and Chand Bagh too witnessed violence. A petrol pump was ignited by the protesters in Bhajanpura.

In the evening, Mishra tweeted a video where he put forth a threat that his supporters are just waiting till US President Donald Trump’s visit and after that, they would not even listen to Delhi Police and will make sure that all roads which are blocked by anti-CAA protesters are cleared. Kapil Mishra had given a three-day ultimatum to the police or, he said, “we would have to take the streets”.

Protests at both Jaffrabad and Maujpur continued the following day. On Monday, pro-CAA protesters were seen in Maujpur Chowk playing songs on loudspeakers in the morning with lyrics saying, “Jo maange azaadi desh mein, bhejo Pakistan unhe” and “Bharat ka abhimaan hai Hindu bhagwadhaari aayega, Pukaarti Ma Bhaarti khoon se rang bharo goliyon ke naam ki”.

The police lineup was all around the Maujpur-Jaffrabad stretch, though they heard the songs near the chowk, they did not take any step towards that.

Again, two groups of pro and anti-CAA protesters escalated into stone-throwing outside the Maujpur Metro Station. The police had to fire tear gas shells and bring the situation under control. Just 2 hours later or so, around 2 pm, the anti-CAA protesters headed towards Maujpur Chowk and the pro-CAA protesters headed towards the Jaffrabad. Suspecting that the situation would soon turn violent, they reached the midpoint but by then, both the groups started throwing heavy stones at each other. The police again had to fire teargas shells when the situation was getting out of control. An autorickshaw was set on fire during the time of violence.

Till 5 pm, the attacks by throwing stones continued, after which the police could somehow bring the situation in control. Almost 800-900 police and paramilitary personnel that have been fanned out in the Jaffrabad-Maujpur stretch after the incident took place.

Five Delhi Metro stations in the North East district will remain closed on February 25 which includes Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Gokulpuri, Johri Enclave, and Shiv Vihar stations.

Ratan Lal (42), a head constable died after getting injured during the violent stone-pelting attacks along with five other people during the clashes and at least 105 others, including several paramilitary and at least 11 police personnel including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Shahdara, Amit Sharma, and ACP Anuj Kumar were injured during the violent incidents which took place in Northeast Delhi. Two CRPF police personnel were also injured, PTI reported. Section 144 has been enforced in that area.

Violent throwing of stone attacks took place today morning in Maujpur and Brahampuri in the morning on February 25.

“Am v worried abt prevailing situation in certain parts of Del. All of us together shud make all efforts to restore peace in our city. I again urge everyone to shun violence.

Am meeting all MLAs (of all parties) of affected areas along wid senior officials in a while.”, Kejriwal tweeted.

According to the sources, the meeting will take place at the chief minister’s residence at 10:30 am.

Kalina is part of the Russian Ministry of Defense’s Krona space surveillance complex, situated several kilometers west of Zelenchukskaya, a place well known in the astronomical community. Also located in its immediate vicinity are the Russian Academy of Science’s Special Astrophysical Observatory (housing the six-meter BTA telescope) and the RATAN-600 radio telescope.

Kalina will complement a mobile laser dazzler known as Peresvet that has been operational since late 2019.

Krona (“tree crown”) consists of a radar system (designated 40Zh6) and a lidar (designated 30Zh6), which are several kilometers apart. The lidar (literally referred to in Russian as a “laser optical locator” or LOL) is situated on top of a two-kilometer-high mountain called Chapal (its exact coordinates being 43°43'2"N, 41°13'41"E). Krona was conceived back in the mid-1970s (among other things to provide targeting data for Soviet anti-satellite systems), but didn’t become operational until early this century. The radar system is mainly intended to furnish LOL with accurate trajectory data to point its telescopes at targets of interest.

Satellites Spot Construction of Russian Anti-Satellite Laser Facility: Report

Anti-satellite technologies are on the rise as space becomes an increasingly vital domain for military activities.

Recent Google Earth images reveal construction at what appears to be a sophisticated laser system at a Russian space facility designed to blind adversary satellites.

The construction is taking place at the Russian Ministry of Defense's Krona space facility near Zelenchukskaya in Russia's far southwest, home of the massive RATAN-600 radio telescope. The existence of this new complex was brought to light in an in-depth open source investigation (opens in new tab) published by The Space Review that analyzed public satellite imagery, solicitation documents from Russian industrial contractors and Russian financial documents.

All of these sources lay out the construction of a project named Kalina, described in the financial documentation obtained by The Space Review as a laser system designed for "electro-optical warfare" that can permanently blind adversarial satellites by shining laser pulses so bright they can damage optical sensors. (This is distinctly different from other lasers known as "dazzlers," which are aimed at only temporarily blinding optics systems.)

The new investigation suggests that, despite having been planned many years earlier, Kalina just recently got under construction at an existing space surveillance complex operated by the Russian Ministry of Defense that houses lidar ("light detection and ranging") and radar systems designed to help identify targets for space telescopes.

Russian patent and procurement documents reveal that the Kalina laser facility features a separate tracking system with adaptive optics to help it better mitigate atmospheric disturbance. Along with this system, the laser itself features a transmit-receive system to measure laser light reflected back at it from its target in order to better aim directly at the optical systems on its target object.

The construction of this laser follows a growing trend in terms of anti-satellite activity. General David D. Thompson, vice chief of space operations for the United States Space Force, told The Washington Post in 2021 that U.S. satellites are under attack (opens in new tab) "every single day" and that the United States is "really at a point now where there's a whole host of ways that our space systems can be threatened."

This "shadow war in space," as The Washington Post deemed it, is already playing out. Elon Musk wrote in May 2022 that Russia has been "ramping up their efforts" to jam and disrupt signals from SpaceX's Starlink internet satellites. SpaceX recently sent many Starlink terminals to Ukraine to re-establish communication networks and provide emergency internet services in the nation, which Russia invaded in February.

And Russia may not be the only player looking to disrupt or destroy the services of Starlink satellites, which have been tested for a variety of military applications (opens in new tab). For example, a 2022 paper published in the Chinese journal Modern Defense Technology by researchers at the Beijing Institute of Tracking and Telecommunications Technology called for the development of "a combination of soft and hard kill methods" that could "make some Starlink satellites lose their functions and destroy the constellation's operating system." The paper states that, while Starlink "can provide more stable and reliable communication capabilities for the combat units deployed by the US military around the world," the satellites could also be used "to provide high-definition pictures and even live video" for US forces.

It's quite possible that ground-based lasers like Russia's new Kalina system could provide exactly the type of "soft kill" methods described by Chinese researchers — techniques that, unlike "hard kill" methods, don't create risks for everyone else operating in space.

The most recent imagery of the site is from March this year, when it was still covered in snow. A new telescope dome has now appeared at this location, connected to the lidar building by a tunnel.
