okay, so now that i ate, drank a coffee and i more or less feel like a person, let's talk about some things...
first of all, McLaren trying to paint themselves as the underdog (again) when they're like four tenths ahead the rest of the field is honestly old and embarrassing at this point. you've built a good car, at least be proud of it. the only good thing about this is that Oscar has the potential to win a WDC before Norris, i don't care about anything else.
i hate red bull, perish.
Sauber and Haas look extremely slow, but congratulations to Gabriel Bortoleto who dragged that tractor into Q2 in his first ever F1 qualifying. i was familiar with your game, but that was still unexpected, yet super cool.
whoever cursed Ollie Bearman, come forward, we can talk about this.
Alpine looks decent, Jack did okay considering that he has to drive with Flavio Briatore breathing down his neck, looking for any minor mistake, so that he can put Colapinto in the cockpit.
the VCARB/Racing Bulls or i genuinely don't know what they're called this year, seems okay, Isack did a phenomenal job, i love him. Yuki outperformed that car by miles, that was the lap of his life. i adore them actually.
Aston and Mercedes were just kind of there, George showed some potential, so we'll see.
i love that Williams seems competitive but i hate it at the same time. i love it because Alex Albon deserves to have another shot in a car that actually functions as a race car. i hate it because i hate Williams and Carlos Sainz and nothing good should happen to them.
and now, the elephant in the room: Ferrari. i would be lying if i said i am not disappointed, but we have to keep in mind that this is literally the first race. last year's car didn't seem that competitive in the beginning either but at the end we've almost won the constructor's title. we don't even know how the race pace is yet and considering that there might be rain tomorrow, hope is not lost. Charles said that he knows what went wrong and what they need to work on, which is a positive. Lewis seemed happy during his interviews and he managed to get closer and closer to Charles with every session, which is amazing, he's getting used to the car super quickly. the truth is that, nothing's lost yet, i have a flair for dramatics too, but we have to keep in mind that the season is long, there will be upgrades, tracks that suit the car more etc. the car showed some promise during free practice, so it has potential. so let's just focus on one race at a time and trust Lewis and Charles.

Look I don’t want to be a hater except I do.
James vowels and Williams are maybe my biggest opp of all time ever for the rest of time because I understand his decisions but his reasoning is so fucking stupid and the way he goes about things is even more incompetent. I am a massive Logan fan but like I can understand that he costs quite a lot (except HES CRASHED LIKE TWICE ALL SEASON) and from a business decision getting rid of him is the best chance but to say you want to “maximise points” is such obvious bullshit because the Williams is a tractor no matter who drives it and from a pr perspective is incredibly terrible but to replace the driver who was taken out of f2 too quickly and was rushed to an f1 seat with a driver who is taken out of f2 even quicker is so stupid especially considering rookies are more inexperienced and have a higher chance of crashing and less likelihood of scoring points. But they’re also harming colapintos career because there aren’t any seats until 2026 at a push so while yeah it’s great 9 whole races in f1! Awesome! Until for the next two years he’s stuck in another series or as a reserve driver. And in a Williams he won’t be able to accurately display his skills to other prospective teams as the car is not performing anywhere near the midfield teams vowels claims there compeating with wich essentially puts colapintos career in a sort of purgatory similar to Liam Lawson where he’s showed what he can do but isn’t given the opportunity to be a permanent member of the grid.
TLDR: I just think that Williams are incredibly stupid and fucking dumb and destroy their drivers careers unintentionally.

Ferrari and Williams are both definitely cursed but in very different ways
Like Ferrari somehow invoked the wrath of an ancient entity or was cursed by the gods for their hubris during the Schumacher era. The team is consumed by the curse and in turn consumes the drivers, e.g. Massa, Alonso, Vettel, Leclerc, Sainz. Those affected slowly lose their souls in an ancient and terrible way. The entire affair is a tragedy.
( Kimi Räikkönen was of course immune to the curse, for reasons extremely frustrating to the ancient curse-giver.)
Williams however, is experiencing some sort of cobbled together voodoo or witchcraft, purchased from some hag in a shed in the Appalachian mountains or a witch doctor in an alley somewhere. It’s not concerned with long-term suffering or legacies tainted; it's just inflicting the most damage as possible as soon as possible. There’s no all-powerful being and their wrath invoked; this is sheer human pettiness. Someone Kyle Kirkwood has inflicted this because of some spiteful grudge Williams’s treatment of Logan Sargeant and is cackling. The cars are just falling apart at the seams and giving up the ghost with zero provocation, and when they aren’t, Albon or Colapinto immediately bins it into the wall. Everyone at Williams is experiencing the horrors. No one—not the cruel team principal, the teammate who remains, the replacement, the unsupportive garage, or the poor mechanics—is spared. The entire affair is kinda funny.

The Atlassian CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes, James Vowles and Jenson Button were together today on a Conference for Atlassian Team’ 25 Event, and the CEO took the time to tell an anecdote about how impressed he was by Carlos attitude on Australia:
“Netflix and cameras are all gone, no one cares anymore in that side of garage. And I saw Carlos walk in, he went to every single member of his pit crew, one by one, thanked each of them. That’s the classiest move I’ve seen someone do.”
And James Vowles saying how Carlos is above all a TEAMPLAYER
“That’s Carlos. Carlos in the moment of it, the team is bigger than him and he wanted the team to be successful above himself. That’s extraordinary, and that’s what he’s all about”

i have more things to say, cause this just makes my blood boil.
this is not just shit for Logan, this is not good for Colapinto either.
it’s not just that Colapinto has no experience in F1, but he barely has any experience in F2, this is his rookie year there. they’re throwing him in F1 way too early, he’s not at all ready, even though he’s doing a kind of decent job at F2 in the moment (he’s sixth in the championship). he has potential, but they! gotta! let! him! learn! they’re ruining his chance for a good F2 season, probably ruining his entire career with this, all because they want Logan out of the team so bad. he’s not going to be able to perform at all, cause the car is horrible and he’s a rookie.
this is not like when Ollie drove in Jeddah. this is Ollie’s second f2 season, he’s driven F1 cars before for Haas and for Ferrari, he had more experience than Colapinto has now. and he was driving a Ferrari. yes, we joke that Ferrari is shit and blah blah blah, but it’s still a good car, especially compared to the Williams.
Colapinto will be under tremendous pressure to prove himself and score points, cause this is his chance, his breakthrough. but that pressure is not a good thing, as we’ve seen before time and time again, it only creates more mistakes and doubts.
this is such a shit situation and i literally cannot wrap my head around why Vowles thought that yes, this is the solution.

Does James Vowles understand he's just criticised actual F1 royalty? The gridson of one of the most beloved drivers in recent history? Does he have a death wish?
