Yes, Bubby from Half-Life VR But The AI Is Self-Aware (aka HLVRAI) could kill Macbeth!

There are a couple of layers to analyze here, but he still qualifies regardless of which one you look at:

You could look at this from the angle that he is canonically an NPC inside a video game, and was therefore coded instead of born by an unknown party. This angle applies him for the Unconventional Birth Clause while leaving BPC completely ambiguous.

You could also look at this through the lens of the in-universe game's story, in which Bubby was a science experiment grown in a tube by Black Mesa, which is directly confirmed through the encounters with his "prototypes"- previous attempts to create the "Ultimate Life Form." As HLVRAI takes place in Half-Life 1, there have not yet been introduced any female scientists working at Black Mesa (later installments of the Half-Life series introduced female characters that worked at Black Mesa, but none appear or are mentioned in HLVRAI), so this angle makes the Birth Parent Clause much more plausible while still firmly applying Bubby for the Unconventional Birth Clause.

What do you think Pharma's relationship with flight/his alt-form is?

He's pretty divorced from his flying alt-mode, mainly for internalized Functionism reasons imo. It's not that Pharma has any aspersions towards or fear of flying, but I think because of his alt-mode exemption-- the fact that he literally had to be an exception,that he became a doctor despite being a jet rather than simply being a doctor and a jet-- he distanced himself from his alt-mode at least on a subconscious level because, politically/socially, maintaining his safety and position in society meant that he was forced to play up his "forged medic" half and downplay his "jet" half. It's honestly the only plausible explanation I can come up with to explain Tyrest's "famous for being forged" line bc that's literally the only thing I can think of that would make Pharma famous for being forged and not just for being a doctor.

I'm struggling to find a good, non-offensive allegory, but I'd imagine it's a similar struggle to someone who's biracial, multicultural, multinational, etc: there's always a struggle where people whose existence/identity straddles multiple boundaries always get forced into only being one of those things, not allowed to be multilayered and complex. For Functionist reasons, Pharma can't just be a doctor who turns into a jet, he has to be a Doctor TM and be really good at being a Doctor TM because that's the role/half of himself that society has decided is the most important part. Not only as a matter of prejudice, but that he was literally told "you exist to be a Doctor TM (but actually we could take away your ability to be a doctor at any time)."

So as a result of all that, I actually take Pharma's lack of transforming on-screen in canon and extrapolate that into the headcanon that Pharma rarely transforms/flies in general. For one, it's just because he physically needs to be in root mode to do his job, and his job is basically the only thing he does, ergo he's in root mode basically all the time. And for two, bc of internalized Functionism, Pharma basically distanced himself from his alt-mode and neglected flying as part of his lifestyle. Sort of a defense mechanism of "If I fly too much or enjoy flying recreationally/as a sport, what if someone Notices and decides I make a better jet than doctor."

I actually headcanon that Pharma is shit at flying and very noticeably so, like to the point that other jet alt-modes are like "Dude wtf how can you be forged as a jet and fly this badly." It sucks really badly for Pharma bc it basically then puts him in a position where in the world of the intellectual class, he's otherized as Alt-Mode Exempt TM, but in the world of other jets, he's otherized because he's not freight/military and doesn't have the same lived experiences, skills, culture, etc that other jets do. So unfortunately, Pharma basically lives that mixed kid life of "No matter where I go, I'm always the odd one out because people always notice how I'm Not Fully One Of Them."

I can't wait to read all of the WIPs listed. All the dark/dark-ish Bucky ones already made me weak in the knees just by the hints. I especially want to know more about dark!bodyguard Bucky who's tasked to protect us but the true danger has been alongside us all this time 😈 Protecting us by keeping all the other men away to save his future wife for himself. I'm just speculating sorry lol. I just love the idea that someone who's supposed to protect us has been the one most obsessed with us all along. That has no right to be sounding so hot 😩❤ The other one I'm intrigued by is the feral Bucky just cause that's a rare AU for Bucky 😁 A Tarzan-esque Bucky with all his innocence,wonders and curiosity,maybe not so innocent once attraction does its' work and primal needs take over (the smut part lol)? 😂 I bet feral Bucky fucks feral too 🥵😵 So feral Bucky is the one I voted for but I'm happy with the final results as well. Just wanted to tell you this is the hardest polls I've ever taken on Tumblr because every single WIPs listed sounds soooo good 😩😫 To the point that I had to think about it for more than an hour and a half and came back to it again and finally vote feral Bucky WIP ❤😂

+ Kuon's feelings, worries, and thoughts abt his brother were warped to be super intense after the No One World abduction

examples:

- that thing where older siblings feel a little sad when they notice how much their younger sib is growing and starting to want to be independent -> warping to -> Kuon not wanting Hoeru to leave him AT ALL

- that familial love for your sibling -> sick kind of love and obsession for hoeru. ("Hoeru's my love, my hope, my puppet" uhm! Ok!! Whatever you say Mr. Freaky!)

- Younger siblings being your responsibility. You're their teacher, their second parent, their most available guide (eldest child in an Asian household things ❤️) -> Hoeru grew up to have beliefs that dont align with Kuon's. Kuon thinks he is misguided and wrong. He's the only one that can set him right.

+ As kids, Kuon's praises and sweet touches would be like liquid gold to hoeru. Even if they have a weird relationship now, I'm pretty sure if Kuon praised him, Hoeru would feel like putty inside. It's hard to break off from old wants 🫶

+ not an HC but do you know the whole thing the mom and daughter in EEAAO had? The daughter in the "Alpha universe" was pushed to the limit to be excellent that she became a nihilist and wants to destroy the universe. She seeks out for her mom in this one universe who is awful at everything because she has the greatest potential (the whole "you suck so much that you have nowhere to go but up" thing) and is the only one capable of foiling her universe-ending plans.

The womanfailure mom = Hoeru

The powerful nihilist daughter = Kuon

Hello!! I've been reading through Leon's stuff and??? I love him??? I'm a sucker for childhood best friends turned to lovers. The slow burn, the pining, and the yandere potential! I was also wondering what would Ren/Redacted do if they found out that Angel loved or had a crush on Leon? I'm assuming that Leon beloved would end up 6 ft under :[ Mostly because it'd be hard to replace the memories Angel has with him, or to make them distrust and dislike Leon so much so that they'd pick a stranger over him.

Anyway tysm for making such great characters!! I legit cannot choose between [Redacted] and Leon rn. And Violet is so sweet, I'd love to play Final Fantasy XIV with her or smth!! Though her account might get mysteriously hacked if we have too much fun or get too close 😪

I have many, many thoughts. I hope this was understandable!

✦゜ANSWERED: I think a lot of people tend to forget that Ren was also your childhood friend as well, so he'd 100% know about Leon's small crush on you when you were all kids!! >:3c

And while technically Leon was the one who proposed first, it was only out of the desire to protect you and fulfil those childlike fantasies he read in books -- not because he had a crush on you. Ren was the one who had genuine feelings and greatly admired you, which was why he proposed (with a ring!!) as well. But obviously knowing Leon for a bit longer, you listened to him instead.

But Leon was also very stubborn and clingy when he was younger, and didn't want you befriending others or replacing him as your best friend. He only wanted you to rely on him to protect you, and always saw Ren as a threat because they were always lurking behind the swings and staying hidden inside the slide like a scary, fantasy monster.

When in reality, Leon was the one encroaching on Ren's only safe haven (the playground) and disrupting the peace.

I've mentioned this before, but Ren would always sneak out and visit the playground on the nights where his family got a little too much, and that was where he would always find you -- alone and huddled up in one of the brightly-coloured tunnels with tears in your eyes. It was then when Ren would start leaving jackets and little toys for you to find, and always got happy when you'd do the same in return. But the moment Leon turned up (most likely out of you telling him about the playground), everything started to go downhill for Ren.

I also don't think a lot of the newer people know about this, but Leon moved away when you were both around 9 years old!! So they only way he kept in touch was through hand-written letters and occasional texts/calls once you both got older and had access to phones. I like to think in an AU where he still had feelings for you, he'd write cute lil love letters and send cheesy Aussie postcards/souvenirs of things you'd enjoy.

I also can't really explain what Ren would do if Leon started getting closer because that's part of the premise of the game (and I don't wanna spoil anything), so I unfortunately can't fully answer your question, I'm sorry!! >.<
