Another oldie, also still really proud of this one! This was a birthday gift for @caramel-caracal! A silly drawing of their submas cowboy au which I love very much. Talk about taste!

This is semi a redraw too? From that scene in Spirit when he's running from the fire. Except, well, they may be the cause here.

I did a redraw of a panel of him singing before, but I wanted to draw him singing again...

I HC that, when he has fuck all else to do, he goes around Gotham's karaoke bars. That's if the coin comes up good, of course.

Sometimes he even graces the Iceberg Lounge when Oz is hosting a retro night, or something of the like. He enjoys 60s hits in particular. Think Elvis Presley, Dion, Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra, Chuck Berry, Lesley Gore etc. They match his oldy-goldy vibe (one must keep up appearances), and since his voice is suave, articulate and deep, he can perform them with ease.

His henchmen and thugs always accompany him. They cheer him on in all their drunken stupor, especially when he gives that gyrating hip action. "Tha's OUR boss!" - Oz's men watch too, jaws slacked and eyes wide. Didn't Oz say this guy had no sense of humour?

Somewhere, amidst the crowd, Matches Malone sits, stone-faced and thankful that the Lounge's dim lights conceal his blushing.

Perhaps, on another night, Jason sits instead; his face twisted in second-hand embarrassment as his 6'5", supposedly-terrifying uncle figure rotates his hips in rhythm to Elvis Presley's Bossa Nova, Baby (it must be the Viva Elvis version, no exceptions). No one cares about the hints of blood spattered on his suit, thankfully. They were supposed to finish the job and celebrate with a quiet drink. How did this happen?

This is acually the second attempt 🥲 the anatomy is definitely very off. And the colors just look straight up weird. I can do better. Also I like my concept sketch where riku is very awkward in the back 😺

Omg the concept IS SO GOOD but Im not a fan of the execution particularly the yellow is too saturated which clashes with everything else. And kairis face is just not there at all. Even back then I was dissapointed in the result 😫

oc-tober day 5 - redesigned oc

for this day we've got an oldie and a beauty going back to.. i want to say 2014? it's the lovely juliet!!!

this is her original design! juliet was/is part of an adoptable group that's defunct now called delightfuldelicacies. it had a dessert animal theme going for it, including this girl. she was a special collab with another art adopt group, thus the corn tail (usually they have cotton candy tails).

as you can imagine, this design was... not easy to redraw or to easily translate into something drawable. but we did our best back in the day!

nowadays, THIS is her design, done by my bestie and cowriter for our OCs from this group, @ne0npaws / @ne0ndraws !!!!!! i love the elevated elements of her original design and i love. this design overall. i love this character and her redesign so much she continues to make me very happy to this day <333

Another one of my recent drawings, a little quick redraw of an oldie I never finished. I remember how long I spent on it back then lol (too long, too scared). Now Nessharr looks way more cocky, like he should 😩

Here's a 2019 oldie of my 2 main characters, Taisen Motonawa and Minami Kokoro. By tye end of this year, I'll have finished redrawing all of the students my story will focus on AND have finished rewriting the 1st chapter's script (hopefully for good this time 🤞🏻)

I'm still in very early development stages bc college set me back, but now I'm full-time working, so I try to do as much as I can with my life schedule. Anyway, here's a story synopsis I typed up for my manga concept:

As a child, Taisen Motonawa wanted to be an artist. His family encouraged him, but the other kids at school liked to pick on him instead. After his father dies tragically during the Apollo alien invasion, the world drastically changes, and Demons begin to come out of the woodwork. As the years pass and he trains his newfound Origin abilities, Taisen is now determined to become the strongest Demon Detective in the world so he can save others from dying at the hands of Demons.

During Taisen's Demonic Defense Course orientation at Title Academy; a highschool exclusively for students with Origin abilities, he meets Minami Kokoro, a girl with a rich background and a distasteful attitude. When Taisen stops Minami from doing something she'll regret, a heated rivalry begins, and the two end up having to fight one another to determine who will get into the school as a full-fledged student! Who will win?

Art from January! WALL OF TEXT INCOMING (I copied and pasted the desc I typed out on DA hgngh…) I looked up poses for some of the characters that inspire me when it comes to Troy’s character and his world.

The ones I picked here are Fred from Scooby Doo, Doyle from Galaxy High, and StarLord from Guardians of the Galaxy. 

All of these character I feel share similar traits and energy. All of them can be goofy and silly or like to crack jokes,  and even have similar physical characteristics. Fred is usually depicted as being a bit out of touch and does some pretty unexpected and funny things, also gives off “himbo” vibes. His actions or methods to catch the bad guy can seem unorthodox, but still work. Overall just quirky, but means well. I see Troy as that too. Unless it’s a very serious situation, Troy’s silliness and goofiness is going to come out while he’s on the job and in uniform, but that doesn’t mean you can’t count on him to get the job done.

In the more recent stuff they show Fred to have an obsession with nets and traps, and that reminds me of Troy and his love for tacos. He also just gets excited or really happy about certain things in general, which makes me think of Troy too, because he can get like that about things. I could have chosen a lot of poses and expressions with Fred tbh, but I saw him making that one in a clip I was looking at, and I just got an urge to draw it. 

I haven’t gotten to watch every episode of Galaxy High yet, (there aren’t that many as the show didn’t last too long) but from what I’ve seen, there’s a lot of elements in there that inspire me, not just the main character. The overall plot of him and another human girl from earth being chosen to attend a high school in space is already interesting to me. There’s aliens of all kinds co-mingling, futuristic tech, space-related hijinks, and just good-ole 80s vibes! Which of course, I always enjoy. 

Doyle himself is pretty much a jock. Not an extreme one, but I’d consider him being in the category. He’s sporty/athletic, plays football. That reminds me of Troy because he’s athletic and sporty too and plays basketball. That’s why I thought that pose there would be a good one to try.

They make Doyle out as meaning well too, but since he’s a teenager his choices aren’t always the best. There’s usually a lesson to learn at the end of an episode. Even though Troy isn’t a teenager, he’s still a young adult, and can honestly still act like a teen or big kid anyway.

ALSO Doyle works as waiter at a diner, and Troy works as a waiter at a restaurant when in hooman disguise! I didn’t even know about Galaxy High when I made that a thing for Troy, so I thought that was an interesting similarity as well. I’m tempted to draw Troy in the outfit Doyle wears just for the fun of it.

Annd then we have Starlord, who may be the least surprising choice here…. He’s a part of a group called “Guardians of the Galaxy”. They travel around space helping people, fight bad guys… and there’s some comedic flare thrown into the mix. I mean, that’s pretty much Troy’s concept in a nutshell. Starlord himself reminds me of Troy in a lot ways. I could see Troy listening to oldies music while in his ship, or exploring a planet, jamming out and all that. Cracking jokes while he’s fighting with something or someone. All that stuff. 

Whew boy, uh… sorry for this wall of text here. If you made it to the end of this then kudos to you haha. ;w; Just felt like giving a bit of explanation for each character here… there’s many more characters that have inspired me with Troy though. 

Also this was a experiment here, taking screenshots or looking up pics of characters that inspire me and trying to redraw their poses/expressions. I gotta do this more. I’ve never really gotten to before but it really helps with going out of my comfort zone and exploring a character more.
