Deity Wind
Okay, Idea I've had for almost a year now. That I planned on making into a long fic that never happened (I have one chapter!). However the deity form is newer and was prompted by @socialc1imb so blame her for this.
I thought it be very cool to have Wind be connected to the Sand goddess from Ocarina of Time.
Why? Mainly because of Phantom Hourglass, because what's in the hourglass? SAND! Also, Wind's sword is made from the phantom hourglass which needed sand of hours to freeze time. Also not to mention, her temple is the Spirit Temple. Which if any of you are a fan of medium Wind. Know that word has many different meanings. As well as Spirit tracks being the next game in the timeline I thought it was cool.
And don't get me started on the fact Wind's world is ocean and sand. HE ALL READY MET THE OCEAN KING! Now he needs to meet the sand goddess. (Funny fact, I actually thought about making them husband and wife for lore reasons.)
Another reason I thought she be a good fit for Wind is the final dialogue of Ganon in Windwaker. About how Wind was death to him because it blew sand, and I went, interesting.
So yes, Wind gets the power of the sand goddess, similar to Time and the fierce deity. How he gets the power is the cape similar to the mask for time. Wind has four arms and a tail, and is bigger then time, but probably the same size as fierce.
Also I have to mention orange and orange!
All this actually happened because I listened to the Short of Epic the musically and listened to the Boy and the Boar about a year ago. Which is funny enough very popular now. So funny how time changes.
So yes enjoy!

A very loose prompt: a while ago I found a bunch of Stone tower temple theme covers (especially NostalgiCore's and TheNamelessBard's covers), and that got me in a Revalink mood: first, a pretty straightforward idea of Revali and BotW!Link somehow walking around Stone Tower ruins and wondering just what those ruins were in its prime, and second: the tunes living on, and Revali or Link dancing to one of them while the other is watching (also, the fact that one of the catchiest fan lyrics go "danger lurks around every bend, you cannot succed alone; sing the song, let go of your grief, solider comes whose heart is stone" could be pretty easily made to fit revalink: both Link and Revali have reasons to craft an image of themselves as an unsheakeble warrior (Link literally stopped talking out of fear of saying the wrong thing, and Revali tries to look like the most arrogant Rito to ever walk Hyrule, despite evidence to the countrary) as someone who may as well have a heart of stone, and both of them have things they grieve about, so them going together through Ikana valley - a place that requires putting ghosts to rest - would sound a lot like fulfilling the lyrics. Bonus points if they actually need to solve the Stone Tower puzzles together to go back to BotW and key Ikana characters are still around to help them(not really ship relevant, I just thought it would be lowkey funny when BotW boys would bump into Ikana undead and learn that one of the Hero incarnations had shown up here already).
anon i first want to sincerely apologize it took me so long to answer this ask because (1) i never finished playing majora's mask so i can't write a good enough fic to do justice to mm lore and (2) it was sent during a time when i was probably prepping for an exam. i'm still prepping for exams, i have another one next wednesday 😭
but i still took the time to go find and listen the covers you were mentioned! i hope these were the right ones, because they went kinda hard ☝️😩 they both made me think about a tangled au like flynn rider!revali x rapunzel!link, like that one scene where everyone is dancing together in the town center or whatever lol. i couldn't find the one you mentioned with fan lyrics though but if you'd like to send them, or if anyone else knows where it's from, please do!
iirc, termina is a completely different world from hyrule and oot!link somehow gets in after an altercation with skull kid who has the majora's mask. spoilers for people who haven't played mm? but i just read that termina was a creation of skull kid's own mind so it's not even a real world 😳 so i'm interested to know how link and revali got into the stone tower temple in the first place, or if another temple of the same name perhaps exists in hyrule analogous to the one in termina. like would they run into skull kid somewhere in botw's hyrule? or find the mask on their own (since majora's mask is available in botw as dlc) and somehow termina still exists within the mask? link why the fuck would you put on the mask what da hell?
i would assume that termina's existence relies on skull kid's active envisionment of it and link's constant resetting with the ocarina that causes the perpetual three-day time loop and prevents the moon from falling. and in addition, that termina was created with the purpose of being skull kid's plaything to . hurt and kill people out of his frustration? like i said, i never got to finish mm so i'm kind of iffy on the details of the story sawrryy ✋😭 but it's like. does termina go against the conventions of time? if we assume that termina is a creation of skull kid's imagination, will it be able to continue existing as its own world? will it always be in a three-day loop or after oot!link saves termina, does it continue in a regular continuous flow of time, therefore resulting in the ruins of the stone tower temple? would places like clock town still be thriving thousands of years later? like what if link and revali met skull kid somehow in botw, pissed him off, got dragged in termina, and had to go exactly through what oot!link did in order to escape LMAOOO
i could imagine revali and link bickering about how the other was the reason why they got into this mess, and then they step into clock town from within the clock tower and are completely shocked because they were just in the lost woods and now they're in the middle of a town??? you mentioned wanting to see them meet key mm characters specifically from ikana, but since i don't know any of them (i'm sorry again 😭), imagine link and revali meeting anju at the stockpot inn just trying to get a room to sleep and anju being like. huh. your name is link, too? and having to explain to revali n link that a child in green with the same name and disposition as botw!link had come to termina years ago and saved their town from the moon falling and destroying it. and revali and link are just like. The moon was WHAT? and a CHILD saved you????
link and revali joining in during the carnival of time, and maybe the carnival of time now has a segment where they retell the story of the child in green who saved termina through song and dance, and link gets roped into dancing with the townspeople during the stone temple tower piece. he doesn't know the dance at all, but one thing about link is that he picks up very quickly on everything 😙 so revali is off to the sides of the town center with everyone else crossing his arms, watching link as he begins to catch onto the choreography and keeping in step with the rest of the dancers. he spins and twirls and claps with the other dancers, a smile growing on his face as the song continues, and revali is completely enamored. link had always been beautiful to him, but he was constantly surprisingly revali. this might become one of revali's favorite aspects of link's beauty now.
by the end of the dance, link is panting, sweating, and his cheeks are flushed with a rosy glow. revali's eyes are still on him; they never left link at all. someone nudges revali with their elbow and he glances at them briefly. "that one yours?" they say with a smirk, pointing their chin at link. revali looks back at link, who's smiling brightly thanking and complimenting the other dancers. the little hylian then catches revali's eye, and his bright grin becomes a shy, but warm smile.
revali's gaze softens. "he's not a object to possess," he says to the stranger. he watches as link bows slightly to the other dancers in farewell, then begins to jog back over to revali. "but if there's any possession occuring, it would be his hold on my heart." the stranger says nothing, eyes wide.
once link approaches, his jog falters into a walk. "have fun?" revali says, rather softly.
link nods, smiling. "i didn't think i'd learn it that fast, but it was a really fun dance."
revali hums. "well, it looked like you had fun doing it. ready to turn in for the night?"
"mhm," link replies, and revali can hear the drowsiness beginning to seep into his ever-slumberous songbird's voice. the little hylian then moves forward to cling to revali's wing, and the rito glances at the stranger who's been watching their exchange the entire time.
"enjoy the rest of your evening," revali says primly to him. he tosses his braids over his shoulder as they turn away to walk back to the inn. while he didn't "own" link, it was true, at least, that his heart was for link to own.
i don't want this to get too long and end up misremembering details or something, but imagine some of the lyrics of the stone tower temple song resonating too deeply with revali and link after they think about it later, so they ask anju about it and she tells them about the actual stone tower temple in ikana valley that the song talks about and maybe that's how they end up traveling to the temple, exploring the ruins, somehow getting booby-trapped inside, and having to complete old-school dungeon puzzles to get out 😄
that's all from me for now. if anyone else is interested in writing for this prompt, go for it 🫣

Adventure Paths & Strategy Guides
Tumblr media
Those of you who keep track of this blog may have noticed that my updates have dried up since September. I have a good reason for this, because I got a new fulltime job writing for Rock Paper Shotgun. Yep, that's right - after originally starting Pixel Grotto back in 2013 because I couldn't get a job working at a video game media outlet, finally my path has come full circle. It only took a decade!
This turn of events coincides with a lot of other stuff in my life. In the past year, I've gotten married, moved from the US to the UK with my wife, and been freelancing in the tabletop RPG space all the while. In fact, my first published TTRPG work is now out in the wild in the form of Pathfinder Adventure Path #198 - With No Breath To Cry. Go grab a PDF (or physical copy) if you can, since I wrote some creepy lore about a new demon vaguely influenced by Chinese yaoguai and Japanese yokai, not to mention all sorts of Asian horror movies. I'm actually more pleased with my contributions to Pathfinder Adventure Path #199, but that doesn't come out until January. Keep your eyes peeled for it though!
Needless to say, this has probably been the most hectic and life-changing year I've gone through since 2018, when I moved from Hong Kong back to the US. And as 2023 comes to a close, I'm feeling reflective. I compare myself with others a lot, and much of my life has been spent looking at the accomplishments of people around me and feeling like I don't measure up. While I still do this to varying degrees, I suppose I can finally acknowledge that two of the goals I've always had - 1) to work in the gaming industry to some capacity, and 2) to see my writing published - have manifested in 2023. If I could venture back to 2013 when I started this blog (with a post about eating dumplings while playing Final Fantasy XII, no less) and tell my old self what he'd be up to a decade later, younger Jeremy would be chuffed.
That's another thing of note: as of this past October, Pixel Grotto turned a decade old. Technically, the site is even older than that, since prior to Pixel Grotto, I used this Tumblr for a blog dubbed Aqua Headphones that was sort of a mixture of personal ramblings combined with reblogs of whatever I found cool on the internet at the time. Since then, I've written an awful lot about video games, which led to writing about tabletop games, which led to working in both fields in a professional capacity.
It's surreal to examine my goals and observe how they unfolded in unusual ways. My original desire to work in games media came from the childhood magazines that I loved - Computer Gaming World and Electronic Gaming Monthly - and when those went the way of the dodo, I became a journalist with the sly hope that maybe one day I'd get a job working at Kotaku or something. But I finally got my gaming gig not at an American site, but a British one. And I'm writing guides, which is not something I initially envisioned myself doing. It's tricky work where we often have the chase the reins of the most popular franchises (I now know more about Modern Warfare 3 guns than I ever imagined I would), but it's also fun, since it reminds me of days spent perusing GameFAQs and leafing through physical strategy guides, several of which I still own. Versus Books' Final Fantasy VII and Ocarina of Time Perfect Guides remain on my shelf alongside Prima's Quest for Glory guides and Peter Spear's The King's Quest Companion...and while I can't do my current work in the same format of these gems (many of which were "novelizations," a style of guide writing I really miss), it does feel trippy to be following in their footsteps.
I could say the same thing about getting my words published. As a kid, I forever wanted to pen the next great fantasy novel. And while I've got more than a few discarded novel drafts sitting on my hard drive, the field of fantasy fiction isn't the one that's bearing my first printed work. Instead, it's modules and supplementary books in the fantasy tabletop gaming space - a space that has let me develop and externalize some of the plots and characters that have been gestating in my head since childhood. To a certain extent, that childhood desire to be the next great Tolkien has lessened as a result of this, and I can't say I'm displeased. I'm also happy that my first published work has been in a Pathfinder Adventure Path, because once again thinking about magazines, Adventure Paths remain one of the few remaining publications in the TTRPG space that bear some resemblance to old issues of Dragon magazine, and the nostalgia makes me happy.
I don't like to spend much time on this blog talking about myself, because there are always new ways to incite comparison to others and activate the inferiority complex in my brain. But at the end of a very long 2023 and on the tenth anniversary of the name "Pixel Grotto," I feel like it's necessary. As we move on to year eleven, I'll continue to make posts as long as my schedule permits it - after all, I can't let this blog fall to the wayside seeing as how its existence contributed a great deal to the opportunities that I now enjoy!

1. Not really
2. Either A Link to the Past or the Oracle duology collectively.
3. Skyward Sword. I just love how she and Link are such good friends. Though Spirit Tracks is a very close second, since that's the game where Zelda has the most actual screentime.
4. That I've played? Probably Breath of the Wild. Unpopular opinion, I know. It's pretty and all, but there's only like eight unique items in the game (counting the Runes), and only like 12 unique enemies. It's a huge world that can be fun to explore, but everything just gets really samey after a while. Plus the story sucks.
5. Three-way tie between Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Wind Waker, with Ocarina of Time as a close second.
6. Adventure of Link. I've heard the horror stories.
7. Jabu-Jabu's Belly from OoT because it's just such a unique setting (the OoA version is technically the same, but it's both way more annoying and also doesn't feel as much like the actual insides of a creature); Stone Tower from MM because its main puzzle mechanic is just so creative; Goron Mines, Arbiter's Grounds, and Snowpeak Ruins from TP because they feel like actual locations with a specific in-universe purpose rather than just "random place full of monsters and treasure;" the Temple of the Ocean King and Tower of Spirits because I really like the "central superdungeon" idea (honestly don't know why TotOK is so hated; reach new item unlocks shortcuts, so it's not like you have to do the same thing every time); both of the timeshifted dungeons in SS (Lanayru Mining Facility and the Sandship) because I love that mechanic (and also for the same reason as the TP ones; Ancient Cistern from SS because I really like the sharp contrast between the bright and airy "upper world" and the dark, zombie-filled "underworld;" Sky Keep from SS because it ties together everything from all the other dungeons with a very challenging and fun puzzle mechanic. Basically I just think SS had top-tier dungeon design.
8. The Oracle duology, hands-down.
9. The postman from Twilight Princess. I don't know why everyone hates on Navi when this guy exists. WHY IN THE NAME OF DIN CAN'T I SKIP HIM?!!?!
10. Beetle from SS, Magnet Gloves from OoS, Bombchu and Hammer from PH, Ball and Chain from TP, and Double Clawshots from TP/SS.
11. Wind Waker. It's where he's got the most actual character.
12. Probably Twilight Princess. It's the first one I played through entirely on my own.
13. Overall? Much as I dislike the rest of BotW, I can't argue that its character design is top-notch. After that, it's a tie between Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess.
14. As in, which one do I prefer? That depends entirely on context. Design-wise, the Gilded Sword takes the cake, but Biggoron's Sword is probably the most satisfying given that it's the reward for such a difficult side quest, and the Master Sword of course has so much lore tied to it that it's practically another character…then Skyward Sword made that literally true.
15. If Skyloft counts, then that. Otherwise… hmm… the Temple of Time is cool, since it's one of the few constant locations that ties multiple games together.
16. Lorule because it answers the interesting worldbuilding question of "what happens if the Triforce is destroyed?"; the Great Sea because it's somehow exactly the right balance between full and empty to not be boring but still feel like a vast ocean; and New Hyrule because it's just so satisfying to ride the train around (plus that song slaps).
17. Probably Twilight Princess or Majora's Mask
18. Also Twilight Princess or Majora's Mask
19. Twilight Princess or Majora's Mask (three in a row!)
20. Too hard to pick. Not the Switch ones though… for the others, it just depends on which one I'm feeling nostalgic for at the moment.
21. Breath of the Wild
22. So hard to choose… OoT/MM is classic and has a spectacular three-game-spanning arc, but TP, SS, TWW/PH, and ST have so much more personality within their own games.
23. Spiritual Stones. They look the coolest.
24. Either A Link to the Past or A Link Between Worlds. Those had the biggest inventories. Though the Oracle games also both have a pretty unique lineup. TP's are cool but too many of them are sadly underused.
25. Tie between Midna and Spirit Zelda (ST) because they participate the most in the story and actively help Link out instead of just being lore dumps, with Ezlo in second and Tatl in third.
26. Oracle duology collectively, with TMC as a very close second.
27. Probably A Link Between Worlds.
28. The Wind Waker. We need more games where Link actually has a family.
29. Depends entirely on the game
30. That's a hard one… Ballad of the Goddess from SS and themes from both TWW and TP are all very good, but I'd probably go with TWW or SS since those themes are actually incorporated into the game itself instead of just being background music.
31. Jabu-Jabu's Belly from OoA, Sword and Shield Maze from OoS, Ganon's Tower from ALttP, or Eagle's Tower from LA. Those ones are brutal. Though I would say that Mermaid's Cave from OoA is the most annoying with constantly having to go in and out and no easy means of doing so.
32. Probably BotW/TotK. Much as I dislike their gameplay, the map design is top-notch and looks the most like an actual fleshed-out world.
33. Depends. I like when the two are mixed, like in SS.
34. Moldorm in ALttP. He appears in ALBW and LA as well, but is more reasonable in both. Other contenders are Ghirahim III and Demise from SS, Evil Eagle and Dodongo Snakes II from LA, Mothula and Ganon from ALttP, and Knucklemaster and Yuganon from ALBW.
35. Demise from SS, Ganon from ALttP, Yuganon from ALBW, Majora from MM (without the Fierce Deity Mask)
36. Skyward Sword. It filled in a lot of worldbuilding holes. Though LA was also pretty good with the whole dream world thing.
37. Assuming we're talking about normal enemies and not bosses/minibosses… Technoblins from SS are pretty annoying. So are the flying tiles from ALttP, especially in that one room where you can't just cheese them by staying in the doorway, but even with that, it's still really irritating to have to just stand there until they're finished.
38. Dead Hand from OoT
39. ALBW or SS. Maybe TWW.
40. The stupid motorcycle in BotW. And also the Sheikah Slate. Really just everything from there (and TotK) that looks like modern technology. It breaks the fantasy too hard.
41. Song of Healing because it's so moving, and Song of Storms and Saria's Song because I can play them.
42. Bunny Hood. It's the most useful one.
43. In original MM, Zora, because the swimming mechanics are so satisfying. In MM3D, I don't know… the Zora isn't as satisfying, but the other four (counting the Giant's Mask) are pretty much the same.
44. Biggoron's Sword trading sequence from OoT and Gratitude Crystals from SS. The latter is the only one I've never finished, thanks to that stupid harp minigame.
45. Also Biggoron's Sword from OoT, or Maiamais from ALBW. They have the most satisfying rewards and also aren't super annoying.
46. OoT 3D. The dungeon redesigns were AMAZING. It was like a whole entire new game.
47. Skyward Sword
48. I like all of them.
49. Depends on the game, they all have different stuff. Plus they all have different numbers of bottles, which makes the storage capacity more or less valuable of a commodity.
50. OoT Mirror Shield or SS Hylian Shield

I shouldn’t have to feel on edge all the time. I shouldn’t have to feel ashamed to feel like curling up in my room for a couple of days. I shouldn’t feel guilty for not doing something, or doing something then feel ashamed do that that thing. I am working real hard to just not feel all this guilt or being ashamed for just simple self care stuff. However my mind being how it is, is like anxiety mosquitos that fester. Then i walk around nervous all the time. Even if there is absolutely not reason for it. I know people have suggested meditation. I am taking medication for my anxiety and have therapy. However i can’t always know when a day like today happens where it messes with your whole system. I had an online friend say “Hey can i give you a hug?” And i thanked them for the offer but even someone touching me is way too much. Days like this screw me over big time and stuff like talking about things i am into and such is a great distraction.
I probably just spent a few good hours just talking theories involving the BOTW 2 stuff. Where we all bounded things off, also just talking Zelda related stuff like (beside Wind Waker) How many of the Kings or leaders in Hyrule were absolute dicks or idiots. “Oh dont worry raisin ass, dehydrated Ganon totally has no power.” Malice takes over the kingdom. “He-he this is fine, every thing is fine.” All the champion’s die. “Well fuck.” Like how?! In Twilight Princess the king and his cabinet leaders removed any and all people with magic abilities after three of them became interlopers and thinking to take the triforce for their own and probably do some messed up shit. Ocarina of Time it was more of a king being blinded by ganondorf, till link told Zelda what could come to be if Ganondorf was allowed to be the king’s “helper”? Saving that kingdom. But also cause of his time traveling the time line splits, where in Twilight princess ganon is after being caught for his plans to over throw the king of hyrule was banished along with those the king deemed a danger to the world of hyrule. This why in Twilight princess there isn’t magic.
Like see these are just random shit i think about and it calms me. I also get people may not see what i see cause people each view the games in such a different way. So for like BOTW2 the whole sword thing. The sword has been slowly chipping away due to malice i feel and it shatters, this doing sort of what we had to do in Skyward sword where we got to restore the blade to its true form through people a series of trials and such to prove your worth even more as being the chosen one to wield this blade and end the cycle of the curse till another couple of centuries, till the next hero is to be. I could go into it more. But my mind now is exhausted. I like theories and lore right now. Been watching a lot of stuff like that. I just not wanting to feel like guilty of anything, when i have no reason too.

OK jotting down some stuff for botw au because I'm having fun! and I need to put it somewhere before I forget. details are bound to change as I play more and remember more of its lore, it's been awhile.
Marlo, still spelled the same, is a traveler nearing their 40s trying to fill out their own version of the Compendium. Anyone who knows better will clock them as Sheikah: with dark eyes and a shock of chest-length white hair, but which turns black for the last few inches. The excess is usually pinned back in a bun and stuck through with a hairpin. They're scarred to hell and back: gashes from Moblins, nicks from potshots with rocks and arrows, scars on their hands from mishandling a Lightning Rod, blind in one eye from a narrowly-dodged Guardian laser. Comes with the territory of trying to catalogue every weapon and monster they set their eye on. Usually on horseback because of a bad leg.
Though they'll enthusiastically talk you through everything in their overflowing patchwork journals, they're evasive about their past; you're bound to get some incidental anecdote instead. Truth is they were born and raised in Kakariko (and on stories of the legendary hero, but they probably wouldn't know him if he hit them with the hilt of the Master Sword), but left and joined the Yiga in their early teens, only to realize the depth of grief which the Calamity instilled in Hyrule and how much they loved the land and leave all over again. Their history is also represented in their clothing, specifically the navy blue undershirt they wear with a Sheikah tear-shaped titty window, lined in crimson.
For all their lineage's reputation, Marlo is a whole dumbass. In the "thought to take an axe to a shrine door for lack of a Sheikah Slate" kind of way. Beyond that, they are a good cook and will pay well for rare ingredients, and aren't immune to an embarrassingly wicked crush on Kass. Has a friendly rivalry with Pikango, the painter guy. They're not very good with weapons on account of their injuries, so they hired a bodyguard, of sorts...
Rome (whose name will be changed, potentially into Rhoam) is a Gerudo, a few years shy of Marlo this time around, with particularly light skin but the same long fiery hair and green eyes. Her father is from far north and she hasn't seen him since her younger sister's birth. Haven't really sorted out how to adapt that relationship, but she's a warrior born and bred and hates it, but it's the only thing she's ever had the chance to be good at. She left town years ago under the guise of searching for a "boyfriend" but actually roams Hyrule as a sword for hire, accompanying travelers or merchants in order to protect them. She dresses like a Hylian—there's a tall scar on her flank from a Fire Wizzrobe which she prefers to keep covered—and doesn't advertise herself as Gerudo, but her skill with a scimitar betrays her.
She likes blood moons—they're pretty, and they net her more business—and hates the cold. Rome is also, perhaps, better acquainted with Guardians than she should be, having fought her share of smaller ones and scavenged the rest, to tinker with their parts when she has the chance. And hey, Marlo might not have the rupees to keep her around longterm, but they do know a few Sheikah scientists. Knowing what it's like to chafe against the Gerudo's strict rules, she was quick to offer asylum to another childhood friend...
Ness has made a name for himself as a bard, and is also Gerudo, with deep brown skin, hair haphazardly dyed bronze, and old amber eyes. His hair is basically identical to Ocarina Link's, complete with the short tail. He is another handful of years younger than Rome, his mother a renowned teacher of combat and his father a wealthy merchant. He left town after coming out to his mother (and keeps in contact), knowing anything else would result in an exile which was not personal so much as longstanding tradition and post-Calamity paranoia.
He mostly turns Rome and Marlo's stories into song (embellishing as he pleases) but has a fascination for legends, and rivals Marlo's admiration for Kass. He's revised a lot of Marlo's Compendium entries. Among the three, he has the greatest affinity for magic, especially electric. Folks also hire him as a scribe and a messenger; it's rare to find one willing to travel so far.
I'm pretty sure there was more but I'm tired and this works for now. Hopefully I'll get around to drawing them soon.

Party Forever
I’ve been revisiting Adventure Time during my many, many, bouts of insomnia and i still absolutely love this show. It’s one of the best to ever air and, taking it in years after it ended, is a little bittersweet. Even the excellent specials we’re getting with Distant Lands are just reminders of how awesome this thing as during it’s original run. With all of that in mind, i wanted to highlight some of my favorite episodes throughout it’s run. Just a disclaimer, this thing is going to be very Marcy heavy. She’s my favorite character end her episodes tend to be exceptional. That said, i really love every episode to varying extents so, if one isn’t mentioned specifically, it’s more to save time than i don’t care for it. Look, this thing ran for ten years. If i covered every episode, we’d be here all day!
Elements
Tumblr media
Elements was so good, man, i had to make an exception for it. This thing is a mini series, not just one episode but i don’t see how i could leave it off this list. I loved seeing a completely upside down Ooo. The correlation between emotion and the Princesses was also a really nice touch. Plus, it;s always nice whenever LSP gets to shine.
High Strangeness
Tumblr media
I don’t like Tree Trunks. I find her to be grating. However, even i have to admit that she has some of the best episodes in the show, my favorite being High Strangeness. It’s such a bonkers experience, you know? The Grays, that weird candy cancer, thee way the animation gets real wonky on the spaceship; It’s all over the place and i adore it.
Be More
Tumblr media
Listen, if you like this show, then you love BMO. It’s an objective truth and Be More is it’s best episode. Going back to the MO factory to see where BMO was turned into quite the treat. This episode is one of the sweetest in the entire series and the climax genuinely made me smile.
The Other Tarts
Tumblr media
This episode as so goddamn weird and solidified why i loved this series so much. It’s f*cking all over the place, man. It’s just a series of escalating folly and I was laughing my ass off the entire time. In all honesty, this episode is probably the weakest to make this list but even now, as i think back on it, the Tart Toter still makes me chuckle. What the f*ck was even that soliloquy?
Abstract
Tumblr media
Listen, I'm a big brother. I got two, idiot, siblings that are just bumbling through life. Seeing Jake trying t figure out his sh*t and getting that unconditional support from his big bro really hit home. I give my kid brothers a lot of sh*t but, when the chips are down and they need me, I'll move heaven and earth to make sure they’re good. Plus, it’s always dope seeing Jermaine in an episode. Dude deserved more shine.
One Last Job
Tumblr media
Jake Jr. is my favorite pup and this is her best episode, even if she ain’t really in it. There’s a reason why she’s Jake’s favorite, too, and she demonstrates that perfectly during this one.
No One Can Hear You
Tumblr media
That f*cking deer, bro!
Flute Spell
Tumblr media
Flute Spell became one of my favorite episodes because of the chemistry Finn has with Huntress Wizard. They feel so organic together, so complimentary. I was a little bummed they didn’t make it official at the end but my ship was definitely sailing by the end of that one.
Card Wars
Tumblr media
Card wars was fun as to watch. It reminded me of the times i would play games with my brothers. Cats get real competitive and sh*t can go sideways fast. Finn and Jake’s sibling dynamic always rang true to me and it is rarely so deftly presented than in this episode.
I Remember You
Tumblr media
This episode broke my heart. It was f*cking devastating to watch. I cannot imagine what it’s like to love someone so deeply and have then not even know who you are. To have such a deep history together and they are a stranger to you in the present. You remember everything but they remember nothing. Marcy’s entire life is loss and this episode just hammered that home in the most gut-punching way. Don’t understanding, it’s a beautiful episode it’s just so goddamn bittersweet.
Marceline’s Closet
Tumblr media
I just love how awkward Finn and Jake were during this entire episode. It’s rare to see them so frazzled and the way Marcy just nonchalantly tells then she just stays in their house was priceless. This one is more Marcy adjacent but it’s still excellent and one of my favorites.
What Was Missing
Tumblr media
F*cking Door Lords, am i right? In all seriousness, i really like this episode. It’s more an ensemble than a Marcy episode but you’d be hard-pressed to find a better song than “I’m Just Your Problem.” That mess is a straight up banger! Also, tsundere Marcy is the best!
Time Sandwich
Tumblr media
Sandwiche! Mijo!
Stakes
Tumblr media
This one is another cheat. Just like Elements, Stakes is actually a miniseries but it tells one cohesive story that’s one of the best in the entire show. You not only get to see much more of Marcy, always a plus, but the world of Ooo immediately after the Mushroom War fallout. It’s always dope getting chunks of lore like that ins shows but especially in AT because it’s so goddamn rich. I watched this thing a few days ago and i fell in love it all over again. This is the best Adventure Time can be and Stakes doesn’t disappoint.
Go With Me
Tumblr media
Bro, i love Go With Me. It’s literally just a series of misunderstandings and shenanigans. Adorable, adorable, shenanigans. This was my introduction to Marceline and it made a distinct impression. That laugh, that undercut, that sass; Bro, I was in love. More than that, the interaction with Finn and Jake was great but that playful little, “Hello, Bonnibel” follow by such a curt, “Yeah, yeah.” All you need to know about their relationship. Go With Me is easily my favorite episode of Adventure Time. It’s just so goddamn awesome and chock full of nostalgia to me. But no tongue.
Honorable Mentions: Gotcha, Ocarina, Another Way, Ricardio the Heart Guy, Belly of the Beast, Fiona and Cake, Henchman, The Limit, Ocean of Fear, Bad Little Boy, King Worm, I Came From the Nightosphere, Wheels, The Eyes, Davey, Memory of a Memory, The Real You, Marcy and Hunson, Dad’s Dungeon, Jake vs. Me-Mow, Literally anything with Lemongrab, Puhoy, The Creeps, Dentist, Daddy-Daughter Card Wars, Return to the Nightoshere and Daddy’s Little Monster, Come Along With Me

Random DL Thoughts
Physical Appearance Headcanons, here we go!  LOOOOOOONG post ahead.
For the record, Anon, I blame you for getting me started.  ;)
Gen - I am of the opinion that Skyloft is actually between the cloud layers, as opposed to above the clouds entirely.  This is because cirrus clouds (the highest ones) happen at 20,000 feet up, where it is consistently -12*F and that just seems ridiculous for a society in cotton shirts.  My headcanon is that there’s actually quite a lot of cloud cover, so Skyloft doesn’t get nearly as much sun as people might think.   That said, Gen’s a bit paler than most Links, and he also tends to move a bit slower.  High altitudes means varied air pressure, and when he goes down to the Surface there’s always a bit of an adjustment period where he has to get used to breathing air that’s suddenly twice as thick as what he’s used to.  This also contributes to his stature: higher altitude means lesser gravity, which means Gen is easily the tallest Link in the group since there was less gravity pulling on him during growth spurts.  He’s kinda lanky, actually, at least as far as Links go.  We all know they’re kinda short.  Sandy blond hair, and kinda dark blue eyes, almost approaching navy in the right light.
Speck - He’s the shortest one, and he’s always going to be.  Poor boy’s in his formative growth stage and he spends it shrinking down to be smaller.  Magic accumulates, and he’ll top out at a flat 5 feet... on his tiptoes.  That said, he’s actually pretty strong and stocky for his size.  Regularly having to shove acorns out of the way during the annual Picori Village Fall Cleaning will do that, and of course from hiking up to people’s ears all the time.  He’s also on the paler spectrum; when you’re small, there’s a lot more stuff that can block the sunshine.  He’s a bottle-blond, or at least he would be if that weren’t his natural hair color, and he’s got the bluest eyes of the whole group.  If they glowed, they’d be neon.
The Four - When I say they could be quadruplets, I mean it.  They’re completely and utterly identical in every way possible, except for their clothing.  If for whatever reason they decided to swap colors with each other, absolutely nobody would be able to tell the difference.  Not really a problem since ‘individuality’ isn’t necessarily a concept that the Four ascribe to, but still slightly unnerving when you first see it, which is why the Four don’t always like to advertise their hive-mind qualities.  Bright blond, blue eyes, but a couple steps below Speck in both categories.  I’d say they get an average amount of sun, so they’re probably a little bit tan - but they’re on the paler end of the scale.
Ocarina - He shares his hair and eye color with Mask, this being a golden blond and water-blue eyes, but he has a completely different complexion.  Remember that whole ‘seven years in the Sacred Realm’ thing?  Yeah, that screwed up his skin big time.  The sun hates him, and he's happy to return the favor, because he burns within ten minutes.  This is why he happily adopted the habit of wearing sleeves and leggings, because the less skin he has to burn the better.  He’s also way too pale for his own good, especially the first few weeks after the time jump.  He’s doing better now, having accumulated a little color in between sunburns, but he’s still the whitest Link in the group.  (For now.  Once we get BotW Link in here... whoo gosh.  A hundred years without sunshine, that poor pasty boy.)
Mask - Conveniently having gone back in time to before the Sacred Realm screwed with his skin, he has none of the sunburn problems that Ocarina does and is very glad to have that issue over and done with.  He does, however, have an cumulative and semi-permanent mild tan from the Temina three day loop.  It was sunny for all three of those days, after all, and Mask was running around in the fields a lot.  He’s also got a few acquired traits from the soul masks that he uses, because there’s no such thing as a consequence-free soul merging.  Nothing noticeable, especially not to outside people, but he frequently finds a leaf or two growing in his hair from Creak that he has to pluck out, there’s a small patch of rocky skin on his left ankle from Darmani, and underneath his right elbow there’s the faint blue sheen of barely-there scales from Mikau.  If he keeps hosting for Oni it’s pretty likely that he might develop a white shock or some partial face markings, but as of now that particular relationship hasn’t gone that far yet.
Dusk - He’s pretty tanned, since being a goatherd means being outside all day, every day.  Dark wheatish blond and bright blue eyes, which are striking enough compared to the rest of his coloring that people comment on it all.  the.  time.  At this point, he’s trained himself to respond to ‘blue-eyed [insert noun here]’ because of how frequently it happens.  He’s also got quite a lot of carryovers from his wolf side, because again there’s no such thing as a consequence-free soul merge.  His hair’s a bit thicker and rougher than most people’s, he’s got a few pointed canines even when hylian, and his ears have a tendency to redirect towards sounds regardless of which form he’s in.  Some of the wolf’s markings are beginning to carry over too, as almost birthmark-looking things, but they’re so faint that nobody’s noticed.  (Not even Dusk, yet.) He’s also acquired the ability to growl as a hylian, which was one of the few things that managed to unnerve him the first time it happened before he shrugged and got used to it.  He’s also pretty stocky and muscular, because anyone who can take a charging goat, a charging Goron, and throw around a ball-and-chain the way he does in-game is at least a little bit built.
Blue, Green, Vio, and Red - They’ve all got the same complexion (relatively pale) and hair color, (sunny blond) but their eyes are individually colored in direct correspondence to their names and clothes.  They also took individual traits from the original Link, so Blue took most of the muscle mass while Vio has most of the intellect - the book smarts, that is, and is overall almost wiry compared to the other three.  Red is the smallest one, muscle-wise, and also tends to be slimmer all the way around, but he’s got most of the magic; and Green is built more like a runner than anything else, and coincidentally is also the most agile.  He’s also got most of the tactics and common-sense-leader stuff.  They look more like ‘normal’ identical quadruplets than the Four do, in that, while they still look a whole lot alike, there’s tiny little differences here and there that make them distinctive from one another... at least, once you memorize them.
Lore - I refuse to believe his hair is pink.  I absolutely refuse.  He is violently red-headed in my headcanons and I like it that way.  He’s the only ‘true ginger’ of the group.  He’s also pretty brown, in a tannish sort of way, because he’s been to enough places that it’s impossible for him to not have gotten some sun exposure.  Also, Holodrum/Subrosia are very, very warm places.  He’s definitely accumulated some color.  Dark blue eyes, not navy, but more like deep water.  He’s got an accent of indeterminate origin because of all the foreign countries he’s been to, and he’s also kinda wiry in a traveller sort of way.  He’s got the kind of muscle that accumulates through constant use; not stocky or bulky or any of that, but more lean and corded.  He’s also got a lot of small battle scars, mostly on his hands, because he’s really bad at using his bow correctly and keeps stinging himself with the bowstring.  This is also, coincidentally, one of the reason why his long-range aim is so bad.  (The other is that he just genuinely sucks at aiming.)
Sketch - He’s sort of ginger, but it’s really more of a strawberry-blond/auburn color than anything else.  He’s got eyes that are more teal than blue, probably the closest to being green without actually being green.  There is, once again, no such thing as a consequence-free soul merge, and as a result the whole ‘painting’ thing has some odd carryovers.  For one, he doesn’t tan.  At all.  Instead, the sun makes him get lighter, almost exactly like paint getting bleached.  He's not the palest Link, but he’s also not the darkest; I’d place him in the happy middle.
Realm - His legs are the envy of track runners everywhere.  There is no excess fat anywhere on his body, at all.  He's not a heavily built Link; he’s definitely over in the ‘wiry’ corner, but he is literally all muscle.  Thin muscle, but muscle nonetheless.  He's the only Link who can claim to be truly brunet, and he’s also one of the few who doesn’t have blue eyes (his are also brown.  More of a cream-in-coffee brown though.).  He’s more on the pale end of the complexion scale, seeing as he does spend a lot of time in caves, but he will tan if put in the sun long enough.
Wind - He’s dark.  This boy lives on a tropical island, there’s no way he isn’t.  I don’t care what the game graphics tell me.  Wind has the kind of skin color that could be from an accumulated tan, but also might just be his natural tone.  It makes his very bright blond hair stand out in comparison, because his hair decided to go the sun-bleached route instead of following his skin.  He’s also one of the few who doesn’t have blue eyes - his are actually gray.  They tend to look silver in the sunshine and black in shadow, which means he gets a neat aesthetic, but they never look blue.  He can never get his hair to behave, due to a lifetime of salt and sea breeze, and he’s stronger than he looks.  Wrestling the rigging of a sailboat into submission to cross an ocean is one of those things that requires a lot of upper body strength.
Steam - Probably the least physically inclined of all the Links, because he spends most of his time steering a Train.  He’s bright-yellow-blond, and is the last of the Links to not have blue eyes - like Wind, his are gray.  His gray is a lot darker than Wind’s though, and is much more likely to come off as black unless the light hits it exactly right.  He also doesn’t get a lot of sun, because he tends to stay in his Train or in a workshop, building things for his Train, so he’s definitely on the paler end of the scale.  And he’s got workman hands - calloused in every spot possible and all but immune to getting caught in something.
Shadow - He’s gray.  Actually gray.  The ashy stuff that a fire leaves behind?  That’s his skin color.  His hair is black, and his eyes are red, but that might change if he feels like it.  He patterned himself to be one of the tallest Links, because of course he did, and he also took a fair bit of muscle mass.  He’s a good candidate for the Dorito Ratio meme.  He is a free shapeshifter though, and this means that literally all of these features are subject to change, especially in accordance with his mood.  If he gets upset enough, he’ll lose focus on his physical form and just sort of dissolve into a hazy mass of black.  He’s also not above shifting his facial features to be more intimidating, such as temporary fangs or opening up six extra eyes.
Oni - Somehow, he’s managed to be six-foot-three and nobody knows how he did it.  If he were competing, he’d beat Ocarina for being the palest Link, but it’s not because he doesn’t get sun.  He’s actually albino.  He doesn’t have visible irises, or pupils, due to some sort of magic effect that he doesn’t feel like sharing, and the warpaint isn’t actually paint - at least, not anymore.  Again, magic accumulates, and at some point it just became part of his skin.  Also, he might be a god - there’s nothing that says deities have to look normal.  He has a lot of scar tissue, which shows up kinda shiny and silver since his skin is already so pale, and of course he’s ridiculously strong.  Body fat?  He’s never heard of it.
I have clearly never heard of a ‘reasonable post length’.  And to think, I didn't even get into BotW, Triforce Heroes, Cadence of Hyrule, Hyrule Warriors, OR any of the CDI games-which-shall-not-be-named.
...I have way too many headcanons.

Mun Things and Fandom Notes
about the mun. fill this out  &  tag a few people you’d like to get to know better !
tagged by the lovely @vetlanwrites tysm tagging some people I haven’t tagged before: @amalgammuses, @animus-inspire, @kychchc, @rotinthedark, @warofthebeasts & YOU!
name: my name is [ loud music interrupts ] nickname:  you can call me Kat or KF! preferred pronouns: she/her age range:  30+ favorite animal:  cats pets: cat and a dog tattoos/piercings: I had my ears pierced several times and they won’t stay pierced so I gave up on anything -shrug- star sign: virgo! I’m an August bby how long have you been in this fandom?: doing just the ones I currently have muses for, and not the ones I’ve only talked about -
Dragonball(Z) - I’ve been writing in DBZ since... oh geez, the late 90′s? I think the first fic I ever posted was DBZ and it was around that time. I didn’t start rping it until like, early 00′s though.
Final Fantasy - I actually dabbled in 9 a little bit around the time it came out in ‘00 (my friend had it!) but I wouldn’t say I really did much until I really got into 7, and that was around... geez, ‘05? I rped it a little with a friend around then but I didn’t really start writing it much until nearly ‘10. #latetotheparty Yet I do consider it my “home” fandom - I always come back to it.
Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons - early ‘00s! My first HM/SoS game was Friends of Mineral Town on my trusty GBA and I love it so much to this day. SO excited for the remake!
Legend of Zelda - I really, really loved Ocarina of Time from the get-go when I got it on the N64 in ‘98 (I got it again for the GameCube and the 3DS and would totally buy it for the Switch, just sayin.) Majora’s Mask creeped me out a bit and was stressful but I liked it, too. And then of course later titles like Twilight Princess were just... -chef’s kiss- but I didn’t really dig into the fandom until ‘10-’11 when I started rping Link with a friend and briefly tried joining a forum rp group (shoutout to ZRPG!) with an OC
Marvel Cinematic Universe - I want to say around ‘12, when Avengers came out? Like, I’d seen Iron Man but I didn’t really dig into it until then.
Pokémon - late 90′s / early 00′s because I first started my Pkmn journey playing Gold and Crystal. While I didn’t write fanfic or rp it, I definitely had headcanons and a lot of feels.
Sailor Moon - early 90′s! I first watched the anime as it came out, though I’ve since forgotten most of that and only have the manga/crystal in my head to run interpretations off of. It was so pretty tho.
Stardew Valley - a newer fandom for me, I really only started getting “into” it about a year ago, but man... I love it, I really do
Star Wars - despite early access to the OT as a kidlet, I didn’t actually get “into” Star Wars until the Prequels in ‘99 (fite me) when I fell in love with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan and promptly, voraciously, dove into fixit and timetravel fanfic. By the time KOTOR came out in ‘03 I was hooked.
Threads of Fate - I think I got into this one on the ground floor, so to speak. My friend had just gotten it and I borrowed it from her and my brother’s PS1 in ‘00 and that was it, I was in love.
why did you choose this specific character/s?:  under a cut bc I have like... nearly 30 muses now
I’m doing alphabetical order (by fandom / first name) bc it’s just easier to go down my list:
tl;dr I picked them all because I love them. Read on to find out why. Click their names to read their bios!
Dragonball Z
Vegeta - oh man, actually one of the first characters I ever rp’d or wrote in fic, and that’s saying something. I picked him because I love him. He’s an absolute ass, but he grows so much throughout Z. (I have yet to see Super, hoping to one day remedy that but we’ll see!) I guess I picked him up for nostalgia’s sake? I really love the character and think there’s a lot of growth yet to see buried under that pride and ego. If you can unearth it.
Final Fantasy
Angeal Hewley (FF7) - actually my first muse on Tumblr, back in... oh, 2013? The blog has been deleted, but he was the first muse I ever played seriously out of FF7. There’s parts of Angeal that really resonate with me, enough that - when I was a less experienced writer - I got tangled up in him a bit too much, made him a bit too personal, and I realized I had to take a step back from writing him. But I love Angeal, and after some time had passed, having written him in various fics, I’ve felt confident adding him... even if I haven’t done anything with him here yet.
Cait Sith (FF7) - I know a lot of people see Cait Sith as all sorts of negative things, but frankly I adore the little guy. And I guess I took him on partially because I couldn’t take Reeve on and not take Cait on, but partially because I see so much in him that could be interesting to explore and would really, really love to. (Any Reeve’s or AVALANCHE - or Turks! - come at me!)
Chaos (FF7) - I picked Chaos up on a whim, as far as Tumblr goes. I really enjoy rping him/Vincent off Tumblr and writing him in fics, and I suppose I just wanted to present a different side of him than I usually see. I’ve even had a thread that has a great deal of promise so I think it was worth it.
Genesis Rhapsodos (FF7) - my third FF7 blog, I think? It’s still up, though obviously not in use, just because I’d put so much work into it. I really adore Genesis, and love writing him. I love his sass and flare, but I love that he’s deeper than all the fire and flamboyance, if you’re willing to look past that. I’m lucky that I’ve had some lovely partners to explore him with, though I’d still kill for an Angeal to throw him at. XD Or a Sephiroth, for that matter.
Lazard Deusericus (FF7) - Lazard, my second FF7 blog and an unexpected love. I picked him up because I had recently started writing him in earnest with an off-Tumblr rp partner ( @thegeeksqueaks ) and was really enjoying him, and hadn’t seen him on Tumblr yet so thought I might get more partners that way. (It turned out there were a couple but they were inactive.) His first blog was accidentally deleted - over five years worth of character development and relationships - so after briefly working him up again solo I brought him over here. He’s not getting the same level of attention but it’s worth it not to be juggling blogs.
Reeve Tuesti (FF7) - pre-Remake, most of the Reeve rpers had gone inactive (shoutout to the fabulous @engineering-robotics and @animus-inspire for coming back!) and just... I love the character too much not to see him in the RPC. Of course, I love to write him period myself so I’d love more threads there but regardless he’s so much fun.
Tristan Pierce (FF7 OC) - Triiiiiiiiiis. Tristan was actually born as an NPC off of Lazard’s blog, who took a life on his own because he was just... so full of life. He actually had his own blog, too! I’ve barely done anything with him here, but I still keep him just because he gives me feels and he’s just neat. (He does still appear in the background of Lazard’s threads though.)
Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons
Iris (SoS) - I actually picked up Iris as a muse first for a fantastic HM/SoS/SDV/etc rp group I’m in a couple years ago, and liked playing her so much I thought I’d bring her here. Elegant lady novelist? Yes please.
Neil (ANB) - unlike Iris and Trent, I haven’t written Neil anywhere else, but he’s my love from A New Beginning and just... he seems like he’d be fun to write? I’d love to flesh him out.
Doctor/Trent (FoMT/MFoMT; DS/CUTE) - Trent, like Iris, is one I write for the rp group and I legit picked him up because of the opportunity for h/c I am not sorry. But seriously though, he’s grown on me so much and I love my awkward doctor.
Legend of Zelda
Midna (Twilight Princess) - TP is one of my absolute favorite Zelda games, and Midna a favorite character. There’s just so much to her you don’t get to see that I was really hoping to get to dig into, still hope one day to. We’ll see. Worth keeping on roster.
Revali (Breath of the Wild) - my newest addition! I keep saying in complete seriousness “Genesis with more feathers” but seriously, I may have a type? I love him so much and wanted to see more of him, and by god if I have to do it myself so be it. (I have been playing a ton of BOTW lately which probably has a lot to do with it. XD)
Sheik (Ocarina of Time) - I love them so much. OoT didn’t have a ton of character building, but the sheer implications of the character speaks volumes that I want to explore. I’m lucky enough to be getting the chance to, too.
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Tony Stark - did I mention I have a type? I feel he makes a good argument for it. I originally picked Tony up because I just fell head over heels for the character in the first couple Iron Man movies + Avengers. I... am less in love with him in the later movies, not gonna lie, and am so far behind on lore that I’m considering dropping him. But yeah, originally picked him up just because he had so much potential. Thx Disney, great job there.
Pokémon (gameverse)
Lily Hart (HG/SS OC) - another OC of mine, this time for a fandom that... I only really know through the games, as opposed to manga/anime. I picked her up because I really liked the idea of doing events or little ask things with her, and still may try to initiate some more of those. We’ll see?
Sailor Moon (manga/Crystal)
Ami Mizuno/Sailor Mercury - I actually picked Ami up because of a plot with @magicalxgirlsxrp where we were splitting up the Inners and the Shitennou for some mega threads. XD But yeah, I do like her. Even if she’s a challenge to write sometimes because she’s very much not like me, and very much smarter.
Kunzite - Kunzite I have always loved, always, and I’ve had him on here because I really wanted to explore him more. I love him even more after the teasing in Crystal of what might have been, be still my shippy heart.
Mamoru Chiba/Endymion/Tuxedo Mask - super fond of Mamoru, too; I didn’t care for him so much in the 90′s anime, but in the manga and Crystal I really became more fond. I do a few things differently, I think, but don’t we all? I picked him up for that very reason, in fact.
Minako Aino/Sailor Venus - Minako is really interesting to me because there’s so much more to her than her airheaded, bubbly persona that fits her like a glove... but is just as superficial. I mean, she’s sunny and happy but she’s also the OG Senshi, the leader of the Inners, a powerful, commanding fighter - she’s complex, and I really wanted to explore that + getting to have fun with her bubbliness.
Nephrite - another picked up from @magicalxgirlsxrp‘s enabling. But I do find him really interesting so it works out well. Haven’t done a lot with him, but we have plans. Plans I’m looking forward to.
Stardew Valley
M. Rasmodius - I knew I really wanted to do something with SDV, once I got to playing it, but I wasn’t sure who. I thought about Sebastian and Elliot, but already had interacted with a couple who were just fantastic. So instead, I did a good fallback of mine - because I never, ever get tired of playing mages. Ever. XD
Star Wars
HK-47 (KOTOR) - the attitude. I wanted to write HK entirely because of the scorching levels of sass from this droid.
Liana Raine (SWTOR f!JC) - the Jedi Consular storyline is one of my favorites out of all of SWTOR (tied with the Inquisitor, but I’m revamping her) and I really just wanted to keep playing with it even once I’d done the dedicated storyline.
Revan (KOTOR LS!F) - give me female Revan you cowards. -ahem- I have feels about Revan, okay? I love her so, so much - she even had her own blog, I love her that much. I would absolutely love to do something more with her but I will hold on to her if for no other reason than to make sure at least one black, female Revan exists in the world. (I want all the timetravel and crossover threads, hit me up.)
Tharan Cedrax (SWTOR) - another for attitude, really, and also definitely my type. XD He’s charming, he’s snarky, he’s sassy, he’s brilliant... I very much like Tharan and really felt he, like most of the companions, deserved more screentime. So, I’m here to give it to him.
Threads of Fate (Dewprism)
Duke - he’s so cool. I mean, he’s a dork, but his powers are amazing and he’s just a fun, incredibly upbeat character to play. And well, anything to spread my love of that teeny fandom.
Fancy Mel - Mel hits all the sweet spots for a mage character. She’s got flavor, she’s got amazing powers, and she had room to create a fantastic backstory with amazing crossover potential. Is she a bit OP? Yes. But she has no intention of using it for anything but her amusement/whimsy.
Rod the Bladestar - I love Rod. I love his oddly genteel manners, I love how he’s unwittingly sexist but quickly cleans up his act when put straight, I love how driven and passionate he is. Could do without such a typically-Square-outfit, but you can’t have everything. (In the right artists’ hands, he might even be pretty amazing, actually.)
Did you read all of that? Amazing. Any of them strike your interest? Hmu and maybe we could plot a thread! :eyes:
Also I sincerely apologize to mobile users who had to read all that because Tumblr can’t get it’s act together.

Conversion Corner: Legend of Zelda Races part 5
Moblins
We’ve spent all week talking about the various “civilized” races, so let’s take a moment with the final entry of this special to talk about one of the more monstrous races in the series. One that has been with us since the very beginning, but has rarely, if ever been given the opportunity to act as anything more than just another baddie.
I present, the moblin! Varying between broad and jowl-y and being tall and lean, moblins are the largest of the various go-blin races in the franchise, and appear as early as the first game, often wielding or throwing spears at our hero from a distance, or otherwise hindering his progress in various ways.
Depending on the game, moblins mirror Ganon in that sometimes they have jowled faces and underbites reminiscent of a bulldog, while other games have them with a more porcine appearance. The one exception to this is in Skyward Sword, in which moblins had more humanoid, but still bulbous and jowl-y, which could be due to the fact that at the time, Demise the Demon King had not reincarnated into Ganon yet. Which is assuming that there even is a true connection between the two.
Tragically, lore on moblins is sparse, despite being with the series from the beginning. It is probably safe to say that they are a brutal race long ago bound to the will of the demons, with Ganon and various other fiends being quick to re-enslave them during their rise to power in each game.
However, this does not mean that they are universally evil. Indeed, in the original Legend of Zelda, the hero can find moblins living in secret caves who present Link with gifts of money, telling him “It’s a secret to everybody.” Which I interpret as meaning that they became dissatisfied with life under Ganon’s rule, and present our hero with gifts of money to aid his quest. Furthermore, in Wind Waker, a moblin guard falls in love with one of the captive girls, and even showered her with gifts and wrote her letters after her rescue. His articulation of his love leaves something to be desired, but the feelings are clearly there, indicating that they are not entirely monstrous in mind.
Beyond that, their culture is a mystery, but we can probably assume it is similar to various races in classic fantasy like orcs, ogres or goblins, a brutal meritocracy based on strength and accomplishments in battle.
 Moblin
Ability Score Modifiers +4 Str, +2 Con, -2 Int. Moblins are mighty, but lacking in intellect.
Type: Monstrous Humanoid (Moblin)
Size: Medium
Speed: Moblins have a base speed of 30 ft
Darkvision 60ft
Natural Armor: A moblin’s thick hide gives it a +1 natural armor bonus to AC
Scent: Moblins gain the scent universal monster ability
Weapon Familiarity: Moblins are proficient with spears and greatclubs
Languages: Moblins begin play knowing Goblin. Moblins with high intelligence scores can take Common, Elven, Orc, or Gnoll as bonus languages.
Moblins are a fairly simple race, but if I were to come up with racial traits, feats, and options, I imagine those that improve their spear-fighting, as well as one that lets the generate shockwaves with a greatclub like in ocarina of time all might be good options. Possibly even one for growing in size to large.

Top 15 Smash Bros Newcomers Wishlist!
Okay, I do have some stuff to stay about and around the actual list, but I know you guys don’t care about all that boring stuff, so LIST FIRST!!!
15) Tracer (Overwatch) – I don’t play Overwatch, and I honestly think it’s influence on the games industry has been a net negative, something something loot boxes. But the fact remains that Overwatch is really, friggin popular, and Tracer is really friggin popular in it. She seems like a good character, and would probably work well in Smash. Plus, it would be really cool to have an openly gay character in the game.
14) Sora (Kingdom Hearts) – Sora is great, and his fighting style would be unique among the sword fighters in Smash. And considering the legacy of Kingdom Hearts as a franchise, and the upcoming #3, it seems like the perfect time to add him.
13) The TMNT (TMNT) – Though not originating in video games, these four were practically made for them, with so many classic and awesome games being made in their image. Each turtle could be an alt costume character, they’d all have they’re own specials, their Final Smash would unite them, do I even need to say anything else?
12) Steve/Alex (Minecraft) – But ONLY if they walk in the same stiff, rigid way that they do in the game! That would be both fitting, and hilarious.
11) Ribbon Girl (Arms) – I honestly can’t think of a way for them to easily incorporate her moves without making her crazy OP, but it could happen! Anyway, she’s on the list pretty much because I think she would be super fun to use.
10) Dixie Kong (DKC) – I’m not personally a big fan of DKC, but I know a lot of people who are, and who are fans of her in particular. So yeah, doeet Nintendo!
9) The Boy & the Blob (A Boy and His Blob) – The NES game would qualify it for a deep cut Nintendo lore pick, the reboot on the Wii was really friggin good, and these guys would provide a unique spin on the Two In One Fighter. Also, if this did happen, it would be absolutely ESSENTIAL that the Down B be a hug, in homage to the hug button in the Wii game. If it was the Down B, it could increase attack power briefly! Or, failing that, it could be a taunt?
8) Captain N (Captain N: The Game Master) – Yet another deep cut Nintendo lore character! This guy almost seems like he was made for Smash. His neutral B would be the Zapper, his other moves could be based on NES sprites, it would be a really cool nostalgia trip, just, ugh, so awesome. They could even build him from the ground up to be one big homage to classic NES stuff, like how Pac-Man represents a lot of arcade era Namco Bandai games!
7) Rygar (Rygar) – My last deep cut Nintendo character, but this one is the most justified out of the three, I feel. Rygar was one of the earliest NES games, it was really cool, and his yo yo shield thing would make for a really unique weapon!
6) Team Rocket (Pokemon) – Not super into Pokemon, but this seems like an obvious choice. If it were up to me, I’d go with Jessie and James as the trainers, but their game counterparts would work fine. As to the actual Pokemon they’d be using, I honestly have no idea.
5) Shovel Knight (Shovel Knight) – Once again, hella obvious. He should just be in Smash. He’d be awesome, he’d have so many cool moves, it would be awesome for the fans of Shovel Knight, it just needs to happen. The only real question here is whether Shield Knight should be included here, and them be a Two In One Fighter. The only reason why I didn’t put her on the list alongside him is because I’m honestly not sure how that would work, mechanically.
4) Impa (Zelda) -I just really want her in Smash. I honestly don’t care if they use her Ocarina of TIme, Skyward Sword or Hyrule Warriors designs. I just really love Zelda, and she would just be really, really cool.
3) Midna + Wolf Link (Zelda) – SO FRIGGIN COOL!!!!
2) Amaterasu (Okami) – Okami was a really, really good game, and Ammy in Smash would be perfect. I close my eyes, and I can picture her moves, her zipping across the stage, her barking at the other characters. And a lot of her moves in Okami could be put directly into the game!
1) Proto Man (Megaman) – I love Megaman so much. It really was amazing for me to see him in Smash, and the way they made him so accurate to the games, even though it clashed with the usual design philosophy of other characters in the Smash? It seemed too good to be true. Now, if they could just do exactly that, but with Rock's rival? That would be PERFECT! Honestly, I would be fine with him having the exact same Robot Master powers as Megaman, but there’s one thing I would definitely have to insist one, if I had any say in the matter: Proto Man is often represented as being more powerful than Megaman, but more fragile. So maybe increase his damage output while also making him lighter to represent that? Idk, but either way, I just really want this character in Smash.
Okay, first thing’s first. Captain N and the Turtles aren’t video game characters by design, and Smash Brothers has always only had video game characters. And yes, that is true, but it doesn’t have to STAY true.
Even if they’re not originally video game characters, they are inextricably tied to video games, by the premise of the Captain N cartoon, and by the fact that the Turtles have had a LOT of good games. Turtles In Time for the arcades and the SNES is considered by many to be one of the best Beat Em Ups of all time. So by the standard of being connected to video games, and to Nintendo’s golden age, they both qualify.
Moreover, I do think that Smash branching out from video game characters as candidates is necessary for the franchise to continue, if it does so after Ultimate, just as they branched out from first party characters.
Also, you may have noticed that there are several characters that are not on this list, being King K Rool, Banjo-Kazooie, Crash Bandicoot and Waluigi. That’s because I personally really don’t care about these characters. And if they did get added, I probably wouldn’t play them, just like probably never going to touch Ridley.
On the flip side of that coin, there were several characters who I REEEEEEALY want to be in Smash Brothers, but I refrained from adding them because they would either be impossible, for not especially viable. And I didn’t want to make this list a waste of everyone’s time by making it 100% self serving. Two of these characters include Fi, from Zelda, and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I want to close off this post by saying that, even though these characters being in Smash would make my day, I honestly wouldn’t mind if none of them made it. I everything I could have hoped and more has been delivered in Smash Ultimate. I am so excited to play it, and I have such respect for Sakurai and crew, because it is very clear to me that there is so much love going into this game. December can’t come fast enough! @supersmashbroscentral

All the zeldas. Just. All. Of them
I….Michi I was going to apologize for not getting to this until today, but considering how many Zelda games there are I no longer regret not doing this last night.
Under the cut, bc do you know how many games there are including spinoffs? Too many to not be under a cut.
The Legend of Zelda
never played | want to play | terrible | boring |okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
I watched my brother and mom play it bc we have it on this special edition disk that had like, four LoZ games on it, and it’s certainly a game of its time which means it’s super-hard if you don’t know what you’re doing, and still hard even if you do, so I probably won’t try it anytime soon.
The Adventure of Link
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
This was also one of the games on the aforementioned special edition disk, which I watched my brother and mom attempt far enough to know you couldn’t pay me to try and beat the game. My understanding is this is fundamentally one of the most–if not THE most–difficult games in the entire franchise. A product of it’s time, entirely unique in it’s RPG-style mechanics which didn’t work out for the gameplay that well, I’ve only read one story of someone beating the game it’s that hard.
Despite not wanting to play either of the very first two games, I really love the implied story components of each, esp. in terms of the ever-inconsistent and changing lore. So, for story and maps, these games are neat.
A Link to the Past
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
The very first LoZ game I ever played, so it has a special place in my heart. Also the first game to introduce the “zelda formula” that made the series so successful, so I gotta applaud it for that too.
Link’s Awakening / Link’s Awakening DX
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
I roughly know the story components and this is…one hell of a weird story, but like, I love the design for the Wind Fish, and Marin came from this game so I kinda want to try playing it for myself eventually.
Ocarina of Time
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
The first time I played this was well after I played Wind Waker, so this game doesn’t have the nostalgia factor for me that it has for most fans. When I first played it I got tired of Navi bugging me to save Zelda, even though I was in the middle of having fun with side quests, so I stopped and never beat it. When I went back years later to try and beat it I got stuck in Ganon’s Tower and refused to look up a guide, and have thus, still never beat it. Eventually I should look up a playthough of the ending just so I know exactly what happens, bc even though this isn’t one of my fave games, it’s so important for timeline theory and lore that I kinda need to know shit about the game. Not actually sure how I got through the Water Temple twice.
Majora’s Mask
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
Listen. I like side quests. They’re fun. But generally speaking they’re optional and not needed to complete the main storyline. When I found out that the only way to have a relatively easy time getting into this game’s “water temple” was by completing a ton of other side quests, it kinda broke my will to complete the game. Also I don’t do well on timers, so I dunno if I’ll ever beat this game. I mean I still might try bc there’s a lot of interesting story points in the game, but like, I really, really, really hate being put on a time limit and having to restart the three-day cycle constantly. Love the dark themes though, those are fun.
Oracle of Seasons & Ages
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed?
(I lumped these two games together bc there’s a way to link the stories, but they are technically two different games.) I seem to remember a friend of my mom’s lending one of these games to me and my brother a long time ago but I couldn’t get past the first dungeon bc I was young and sucked at boss fights. I might buy and try to play these games at some point though bc the stories are really interesting and the games are cheapish on Nintendo’s eshop.
Four Swords
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
It, uh…it exists. Dunno much about it but I hate the map bc it fucks up all of my land- and cartography-based theory-crafting.
Wind Waker
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed?
So I can’t remember if I, personally, have ever beaten the game, but I did make it to the end before going off to do side quests, and also my brother beat it which I watched, so I know the entire story. Overall a good game, my only major complaint is Tetra turning white after she “becomes Princess Zelda” and also the fact that she goes from kickass pirate to passive damsel in distress. My favorite Ganondorf, for both design and story. Also the graphics aged surprisingly well? Oh, and I loved the Rito, and the exploration aspect was one of the best executed of any LoZ game (the best in my opinion, before BotW came along). Gameplay and mechanics were one of the strongest of any LoZ game I’ve played as well.
Four Swords Adventures
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
This is one of the really underrated LoZ games, but honestly the gameplay is? Really solid and fun. Also the graphics were really good, esp. considering 2D style games weren’t being made as often when it came out. This is one of like, two or three LoZ games that I’ve beaten more than once–in fact I think I’ve beaten this game more than any other LoZ game, and it’s probably my first or second most-replayed-and-beaten game of any game I’ve played. It’s kinda like, a comfort game for me. Also the manga for this game was excellent.
Minish Cap
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
Another really underrated game with solid gameplay and graphics. Like, this game is really good, and I also really loved the story.
Twilight Princess
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | EXCELLENT | a favorite | played but never completed
This is my personal favorite LoZ game of the entire series, I really, really love this game. It’s also the only LoZ that I know I’ve beaten 100%, like all the side quests, all the heart containers, items, poe souls, everything. One of the few LoZ games that I’ve replayed and beaten multiple times. It was also the first LoZ game that I completed bc I used to have a bad habit of never beating LoZ games for some reason. Also the home of my two top fave LoZ characters, Midna and Shad. I just…I really love this game.
Phantom Hourglass
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
I hate putting “terrible” down for any game, but listen. The mechanics were a nightmare, everything about trying to move around and fight was so frustrating. The only reason I stuck with the game as long as I did was Linebeck–but when I learned the last dungeon was also the dungeon I’d been forced to go through again and again and again, I just…couldn’t do it and I’ve never picked up the game since. I should look up the ending for this as well, bc the story was good, it’s just…the gameplay…no.
Spirit Tracks
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
I hated playing Phantom Hourglass, so I never even bought this one. The aesthetics are cute, like I really like the trains and stuff, and it’s neat that Zelda travels with you. But the colonialist undertones are…yikes.
Skyward Sword
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
I really enjoyed playing this game, despite the fact that there was too much hand-holding and Fi’s assistance was more annoying than helpful most of the time. But the story and the visuals, and the music–I really enjoyed those aspects of the game. I’ve also replayed and beaten this game a couple of times, despite the flaws, just bc I was really endeared to the characters and story.
A Link Between Worlds
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
This was another really fun game, and I really liked all of the characters and the cute graphics. Not much to say on this bc it was honestly just, really fun and good. It was a really fun way to revive the Hyrule of A Link to the Past.
Tri Force Heroes
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
My friend bought this as a graduation present for me, but it’s more fun to play together with two other people, so I haven’t been able to play it much past the first couple of areas, but what I did play was quirky and fun.
Breath of the Wild
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
I really enjoyed playing the game, and generally speaking it’s one of the most solid games in terms of gameplay and mechanics. And the exploration is excellent, like it was so much fun to explore the gigantic world of Hyrule. But. There needed to be more story, more lore, and more music. Like what we got was great, but it was extremely lacking, even compared to games with glaring plot holes in the story, like there was just so little to work with. And there was too much “here’s these mysterious ruins that we will tell you nothing about and there’s no way to learn anything about them. ever.” moments while I was exploring. And just, I wanted more story really, more than anything.
Literally all the CGi games and games produced between 1993-1997
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
Enough said.
I’m also lumping all the Tingle spinoff games together bc this is getting really long
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
Tingle is a discomfort character for me, like not a major discomfort character, just a minor one, but enough that I’ve never willingly looked into these games, despite any good things I’ve heard about them.
Game & Watch Zelda
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
I didn’t even know this existed.
Link’s Crossbow Training
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
I know that this takes place in the Twilight Princess Hyrule, but that’s about it.
My Nintendo Picross: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
never played | want to play? | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
Listen, I had no idea this existed either, but? It’s based off my fave game so? If I get the chance to play it, then I sure as hell will give it a whirl.
Hyrule Warriors (including Legends and the Definitive Edition)
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite | played but never completed
I never got the original game bc it was for the Wii U, but I have Legends and my brother bought the Definitive Edition, the latter of which I’m currently playing. It’s honestly just a plain fun game, with solid gameplay. I like being able to feel powerful and badass, and literally half the playable characters are women which is nearly unheard of in fighting-based games. And like? I can play as TWO different versions of Midna? AND Impa is so gorgeous and really well-written, like damn, I love her so much. Linkle is actually really fun to play and really cool, and I like the fact that she isn’t just “Link but a girl” like she really stands on her own as a unique character. It’s also pretty interesting to be able to play as several villains. My only complaint is Cia, but not bc she’s a poorly written character or fanservice central, but like…LoZ in particular has a really, really bad habit of coding the evil and corrupted final big bad guy as dark-skinned and like…having an evil dark-skinned villainess who’s also fanservicy especially with Lana being Cia’s “light and goodness” it’s just…yikes. I don’t think I need to spell that out further. My understanding is that Cia gets a redemption arc of some sort eventually, but I’m not far enough in the story mode to confirm this. I sure as hell hope it’s true bc she deserves better than to just be an evil, albeit okay-written, fanservice villain.
And that’s all of them, this literally took me all day. I now know of several games I had no idea existed, yet I have no idea what to do with this info.

PREPARE FOR THE ASK ANSWER OMNIBUS!
Tumblr media
I'm clearing out my ask box, so here's a rapid fire bunch of answers to the 43 questions in there! A lot of these I wanted to draw a comic or do a little animation for but just never got the time or energy, and others I didn't know what to say, but I think that some response is better than no response, so while these are all going to be either text or doodles, I wanted them all to actually get answers.
Below the cut because this’ll be a hella long one~ Plenty of Zelda doodles in there though so if you just wanna see doofy drawings click too!
Tumblr media
@definitely-darcy - Ahhh I'm sorry I wanted to make an animated gif of this for a long time now and just never got around to it T_T. But thank you for the kind words!
Tumblr media

All 900 Koroks end up in group therapy because they get so confused by Mr. Hero’s behavior they legit cannot deal and are tired of him handing them self help books~
Tumblr media
Bonus: They don’t have a digestive system, so logically you can just feed them the same apple over and over! (Need to go make another stal-horse friend sometime~)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
@fluxed-touko - Ssshhhhh! Spoilers maybe ;)
Tumblr media
@kirchuuuu (this one wont tag for some reason?)- I did one drawing of her being a bit older, but still wasn't an adult~ I like to imagine she'd actually still be super short though, mostly because it keeps her distinct from the others (speaking of, what the heck happens to Gerudo when they're older? the old gerudo are all so much shorter! And then there's the Twinrova witches from Ocarina… Gerudo spines must be all sorts of weird, start tiny, get huge, shrink down super small….)
Tumblr media
@capnbanana - Usually 8.5x11 (standard US letter size), 300dpi. 350dpi for commissions, and commissions and comics are more likely to end up a different size (though never smaller for commissions)
Tumblr media
Considering the lack of any sort of reference to a Gerudo king in BotW, I personally feel like the Gerudo abandoned that tradition after Ganny went evil. Not against him being actually Gerudo though!
Tumblr media
@legoofallthemes22505 (this one wont take either...)- SOON!
Tumblr media
@jcummins151 - Ahh thanks <3 I'm glad random strangers on the internet are enjoying my silly stuff! And I don't really mind that people want me to draw NSFW stuff - it's kind of flattering to know people find my art good enough to.. uh… wanna.. *cough* *Mighty Banana jokes*
Tumblr media
Ahahahaha, I love that this was the next one to come in after that last one! Nothing in the works but maybe some day :P
Tumblr media Tumblr media
@bearlycute - He’d freaking LOVE it if they’d be content to just watch or snuggle...

Zelda Asks
I was asked by @neko-otaku13 to do those Zelda asks that are going around, except she said to do all of them. So here you go, you monster.
Legend of Zelda - Favorite console game? I know it’s kind of the popular thing to say right now, but I think I have to go with Breath of the Wild. It used to be Ocarina of Time just because I’ve spent so much time playing around in that world, but Breath of the Wild just has so much to do and see. The dungeons aren’t very impressive, the final boss was too easy, and I wish there was just a bit more story (a few more memories would be nice), but the game itself is just so much fun.
Adventure of Link - Favorite character (in any game)? Always Zelda. But if I have to pick someone else I think I’d say that Groose might be my favorite. He’s so absurd, but he ends up being such a good guy. Also that whole scene where he follows Link to the surface just kills me.
A Link to the Past - Favorite place (in any game)? I really like Romani Ranch from Majora’s mask because it feels like what they might have originally wanted Lon Lon Ranch to be like. I also really like the Akkala Region in Breath of the Wild, but that’s mostly because I really like the colors and the ruins found around there (including the Earth Spring from Skyward Sword).
Link’s Awakening - Favorite Link? I really like the Link in Breath of the Wild, but I also really like Link in Ocarina/Majora and in Twilight Princess. Basically I like when Link is clearly a dork but is also fairly grown-up, because it gives him a lot of character and makes him more relatable.
Ocarina of Time - Favorite Zelda song? If I had to choose just one, I’d have to say the Ballad of the Goddess from Skyward Sword. It’s an amazing song on its own, and the fact that it has Zelda’s lullaby backwards inside of it is just incredible. Close seconds are Chancellor Cole’s Theme from Spirit Tracks, the main theme/trailer theme from Breath of the Wild, Zelda’s Lullaby, and Molgera’s Battle Theme from Wind Waker.
Majora’s Mask - Favorite mask? Oh geeze, probably the Goron Mask. I like rollin around at the speed of sound, killing dudes with spikes. Also I just think the design looks really cool. I’ve always liked the Gorons (even though BotW really disappointed me there for the most part), so I really enjoyed getting to play as one. Although I just remembered the Fierce Deity mask and I absolutely love his design and am deeply intrigued by the lore behind him (and the fact that we know almost nothing about him).
Wind Waker - Favorite boss? I really like the final Ganondorf fight in Twilight Princess. All the stages were really intense and exciting, and it really felt like you were fighting to save the world from destruction. If we’re talking about regular bosses I might have to say Molgera from Wind Waker, but that might be mainly because the music during that fight is freaking amazing.
Four Swords - Favorite handheld game? SPIRIT TRACKS. SPIRIT TRACKS IS THE BEST HANDHELD ZELDA AND I WILL FIGHT ANYONE WHO DISAGREES (although I also deeply adore Minish Cap). I actually was really upset when I first saw the announcement trailer because “Trains don’t belong in Zelda!” but boy was I wrong about that. I love pretty much everything about Spirit Tracks, especially the story and how involved and developed Zelda is (one of the best Zeldas in the series for sure). I love the music too and I think it’s the only handheld Zelda that I listen to the soundtrack of. It’s been a while since I’ve played it, so I’m sure I’m only remembering the good, but I still love it and I love that it sort of completes the Wind Waker saga. I definitely recommend you play it if you haven’t already!
Twilight Princess - Favorite companion? I like Fi and Navi, but I might have to say Midna because she’s the most developed companion character and she’s amazing. But if I can pick Spirit Tracks Zelda, I pick her because she’s fantastic.
Phantom Hourglass - Least favorite game? You know, this one almost seems like destiny. It’s been a long time so I may be just remembering the bad parts, and I remember having a lot of fun and spending a lot of time with it, but Phantom Hourglass is currently my least favorite Zelda. My issues with it are basically the ones everyone has with it: The Temple of the Ocean King is tedious, nothing about it really stands out as stellar, and I’m not a huge fan of the whole “it was all a dream” kind of deal. I need to play it again so I can give it another shot, but for now it’s my least favorite. It’s a decent game, but it’s not a good Zelda game.
Spirit Tracks - Favorite Zelda? Either Spirit Tracks Zelda or Breath of the Wild Zelda. Spirit Tracks really gave Zelda a lot of character and did a lot to make her interesting AND useful, and you really get a sense of her struggle for the first time in a Zelda game. Breath of the Wild made Zelda super interesting and made her a really well developed character. Breath of the Wild also gave us a Zelda that was very relatable and very easy to empathize with. I think Breath of the Wild’s Zelda is the video game character I’ve most personally identified with, so I might have to go with her.
Skyward Sword - Favorite Zelda item? Oh geeze, maybe the Spirit Flute from Spirit Tracks? I thought that was a cool way to do an instrument and I like how it sounds. I really like the clawshots from Twilight Princess, too. This one’s hard because there have been so many good items.
Link Between Worlds - First game I played? I’m pretty sure it was Ocarina of Time. It was definitely the Zelda Collection that came with my gamecube, but since it had four games on it I can’t remember which was the first I played. Ocarina was definitely the first one I played all the way through though, and I absolutely love that game.
Tri Force Heroes - Least favorite dungeon? Probably the Divine Beasts; they were neat, but too short and too samey. I understand why, but it was still a little disappointing. Outside of Breath of the Wild, I’d have to say my least favorite dungeon is probably the Great Bay Temple in Majora’s Mask. It’s interesting, but I don’t remember enjoying it much at all.
Breath of the Wild - Favorite champion/new champion? Urbosa, hands-down. She seems like the one you’d actually want to hang out with because she’s super chill, but she’s also the mom friend who will make sure you don’t die or do anything too overly stupid. Out of the new champions I guess I’d have to say Riju. She got the most character development and seems like she’d be a good friend to have. I guess I just like the Gerudo in general, but they also seem to have gotten the most attention when it comes to characterization.
