favorite fanfic things: when you’re reading fic for a fandom with a huge cast of supporting characters, and the fic still focuses on the canon protagonist but you can just tell which secondary character the author is in love with nonetheless

#taz talks #this is specifically mostly about hero academia fanfic #you can tell so much about an author by who they add to the deku squad #like that one writer who did the civil war fic. that person just loves shouji #the fic i’m currently reading really adores tokoyami #another favorite of mine drags in jirou and gives her a nice role in the story #there was a really good one that adopted momo too and i wish i could remember what it was called #idk it just brings me joy when i can tell which random sidelined parts of canon made somebody’s brain go ping #it’s charming and often makes ME appreciate their fave a bit more by showing off all the possibilities #bonus points when the obvious favorite is in fact a pretty secondary character #and not one of the usual fandom dark horse faves #sorry shinsou but everybody loves you so you don’t count the same way
