Thinking about how many choices we can make so far in TNP that can lead to variations that you have to keep track of sounds incredibly daunting.
How do you keep track of something when you realise it's going to become a variable? Do you have a document where you keep track of everything? Is it something you highlight in the code (idk how coding works, this is me being small brain).
Or do you write it down on a sticky note and add it to a massive board of sticky notes that you re-arrange to look like certain tnp characters? (this is big brain me).
i do, i have a spreadsheet for all of my variables! i have one for the prologue & chapter 1 and then a second one for chapter 2. i plan to keep making separate sheets for each chapter, it's just easier that way for me to search through and find what i'm looking for rather than scrolling through one massive one.
i also have various "note" files, like i have a "combat notes" where i wrote a bunch of random shit down while i was working on the fight scene, which included ideas for all the combat specialties as well as noting down certain dialogue/key moments i wanted to make sure i included throughout the fight regardless of what choices you made. i also wrote ideas i wanted to carry over for the fight scene i'll eventually have to write for the highfell route, too. then i have a similar "blackwater notes" file that again i use to note down anything significant that i need to make sure gets addressed in this route before the end of the chapter, or jot down certain dialogue/choices i want to remember so i can track them and recall them later.
then i have a "tnp edits" file where i'm writing down everything i plan to eventually go back in and edit later. this is mainly stuff in the prologue & ch1 at the moment, since my writing has evolved so much since i started, there's a lot i want to fix up in those first 2 chapters but i'm not worrying about it until i get through the majority of this first draft.
i'm honestly not very good at noting things down, though. i definitely suffer from "i'll remember this" hubris.... i have a private discord server for my writing and sometimes i'll send out of context messages to myself that i look back at later and i have no idea what i'm talking about. there's a lot of incoherent ramblings in my notes....
#when i used choicescript i did use the code mainly to note down everything#because i frontloaded all my variables in the startup file#but trying to do that in twine made a giant mess so i don't use the code like that anymore#and it's honestly getting too complex at this point i need to actually write stuff down lmfao#ask#anonymousa

A/N: Sorry about the wait for this one. Hopefully it’s worth it!
“Are ye alright, lass?” you heard a rumbling Scottish accent pull you out of your attempt at rest. Your eyes slowly opened, but as soon as you saw the large, winged creature looking down at you, you startled fully awake.
“What- who are you?” you asked, gathering your few possessions closer to you.
“My name is Hudson, I’m a gargoyle,” he replied, crouching down apparently to get closer to your level as you were still sitting on the ground. “I was gliding by and saw you laying here. Thought I should check if you needed a doctor. Or help getting home.”
At the mention of home, you quickly shook your head. “No, I-I’m homeless,” you explained, looking down at the ground to avoid the gargoyle’s gaze.
“Well, according to the television it’s supposed to storm tonight. If ye stay here, you’ll get caught in the downpour,” Hudson pointed out.
“I don’t have anywhere to go. I haven’t been out here long enough to find good places to hide from the weather yet.”
“Well, my clan and I live up in the clocktower,” Hudson stated, pointing in the direction of the clocktower that sat on top of the Police department. “I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if I brought you there for shelter. What d’ ye say?” He held out his hand to you.
“If you’re sure I won’t be a bother to your clan,” you replied, taking Hudson’s hand. He stood up, helping you to your feet.
“Now, ye aren’t afraid of heights, are ye?” the gargoyle asked.
Even though you trusted that Hudson wouldn’t drop you, you still refused to look anywhere but straight up at the night sky while Hudson was flying (or rather gliding) you to the clocktower.
Before long, though, Hudson landed on the clocktower balcony and set you down on your feet.
“There you are, Hudson!” A very large, purple gargoyle greeted. He then looked at you, raising an eye ridge. “Who is this?”
You replied with your name and a shy wave as a woman with black hair stepped onto the clocktower balcony beside the gargoyle. She seemed to be studying you, but was quickly distracted by rain beginning to fall, apparently the start of the storm.
“Let’s get inside, we can do proper introductions with everyone there,” the woman suggested, waving you and the two gargoyles into the clocktower.
Once inside, a gargoyle-like beast of sorts bounded over, though stopped a few feet away from you, tilting his head in curiosity and barking.
“Ooh, now you’re cute!” you cooed, bending down to offer your hand to the creature. “Don’t worry, I’m harmless.”
He leaned forward and sniffed your hand, which apparently passed inspection as he stepped closer, allowing you to pet him like any normal dog. However, once you noticed three more gargoyles wander into the room, wondering about the slight commotion, you stood back up straight and waited to be addressed.
“Lads, this is Y/N,” Hudson introduced you to the trio. “She needed shelter from the storm and didn’t have anywhere to go, so I brought her here. Y/N, this is the Clan. Goliath, Detective Elisa Maza, Brooklyn, Lexington, Broadway, and yer new friend there is Bronx.” As each was introduced, they in turn gave a nod or small wave in greeting, except Bronx who sat down, staring at you expectedly for more attention.
“It’s a pleasure to meet everyone. I hope it’s okay that Hudson brought me here and I’m not intruding or anything. Once the storm passes, I’ll be out of your hair.”
Figuring that Bronx has been patient enough, you bent down to again give him pets as Elisa addressed you. “So, Y/N, are you alone here in Manhattan? Is there anyone I can contact for you, any friends or family?” she asked.
You shook your head at her offer, and again at the mention of friends. But at the mention of family, you froze, Bronx whining either in worry or because you paused mid-pet. Logically, you knew you were legally an adult and couldn’t be forced back to the man who adopted you. But you still didn’t know what you could safely say about your situation, especially to a cop.
You noticed Elisa tense a little at your hesitation, and when she spoke you could tell she was picking her words carefully. “You don’t have to tell me what you don’t want to. But as a member of the NYPD, I have to ask two things. One, are you under eighteen?” You shook your head no. “Two, whoever you ran from, whatever they did, is there anything the police can do about it? I won’t do anything without your permission, but if it’s an option…”
“Good luck,” you scoffed with a humorless laugh. “He’s a politician. Good lawyers,” you explained. “I’m afraid getting cops involved will just make pain for everyone involved, especially me.” You only looked at Bronx as you spoke, not able to look anyone else in the eye.
“I know you said you’d leave when the storm passes,” Goliath stated. “But if you’d like to stay until you can find your own place, I’m sure there would be no objections.” He looked to the rest of the Clan.
“Bronx already trusts her, so she must be a good person,” Lexington stated.
“I was about to make myself something to eat, I’ll make something for you too, if you’re hungry,” Broadway offered.
“That would be wonderful, thank you. Do let me know if there’s anything I can do to repay you guys for everything,” you told the group as you stood back up, giving Bronx one more pat on the head as you did so.
“You’re not freaked out by us at all?” Brooklyn asked, curious and slightly hesitant.
“Well, I was admittedly frightened being half asleep and seeing Hudson for the first time standing over me,” you commented, glancing at the elder.
“I apologize for that,” he commented.
“But you all are being so kind to me that I’m half convinced you guys have wings because you’re actually angels.”
You noticed Brooklyn smile at that, and he looked over at Goliath. “I like her,” he stated, pointing at you.

Favorite drink?
Silver tequila on ice with a heavy salt rim in the summer/spring and Jack, neat in the winter and fall months. But honestly, I'm not that picky. The only liquor I refuse to drink completely is Sambuca because who actually likes black licorice? Apart from the elderly and people who are already too drunk to actually taste it.

Anonymousa sked: can you delete all asks mentioning anyone named "[name]" or "[first name last name]" specifically, not sure if i added last name on most of them??? or any about someone thinking they were the real [name] and that [name 2] was their [name 2]? i fucked up please take them down/delete from askbox
We generally don’t remove anon asks because there’s no way to make sure it’s actually the same anon or someone pretending to be the anon. You need to ask ahead of time, before it posts.
That said, there were two confessions in the inbox mentioning [name]. I assume they're also yours, and have deleted them.
Anonymous said: Bc my asks have a v v v high chance of being eaten, if you got an ask from a [name] with multiple canons, could you please delete it ?? Thank you 💛💛
Considering I can't find any in the queue or ask box, I'm going to assume another mod deleted them? In any case, they're not in our possession!

Você tem algum concelho ,para quem pretende fazer uma AU?
🤠👍
Depende da au, se for de diamantes como a minha eu tenho: tente usar cores exóticas em cenários e nunca deixe apenas uma cor e uma parede limpa, sempre tem algum degradê de sombra ou algo do tipo;
