your recent art of machete after being ordained is amazing!! I love how he really does go from Random Small Scraggly to INSTANTLY machete recognizable as soon as he puts the new clothes on. You could probably say something about the narrative and only looking himself once he's becoming trapped by what will doom him, but I think it's because the ruffle he was wearing doesn't accentuate his gorgeous wonderful neck floof the way it deserves. Also always delighted to see the rare art where he's visibly happy, he deserves a little bit of joy sometimes. Even if his natural state is sad wet tissue (affectionate).

By the way since you're an errorink historian do you know how error ended up mostly drawn/HCed as really tall even though he's shorter than geno according to CQ?

i think the tall headcanon came about simply because error's lucidia design is depicted to be taller!

and if he wasn't tall, it's because of his overall design, his long coat really lengthens his silhouette and gives an illusion of height

how long did it take for you to come up with the designs for the clones?? did it come naturally or did you have to do a lot of thinking / concepts?

hm im having to go back thru my memories for this one bc it was a while ago... but iirc i had a handful of specific ideas for some of them: Three essentially as Bart with blue eyes, Five as an older clone, Seven as a robot, Nine/Nathaniel not having powers. And then i had a thing with their colour-coding which used to be more significant than it ended up in the actual story, along with the roman-numeral incorporation a la the movie Stardust.

the rest i pretty much made up on the fly when i drew that first comic, and its wild that their designs have stayed pretty much the same bc i was fully expecting to overhaul their looks once i actually nailed down their characters.

a couple details have changed since that tho. Six's cybernetic eyes came later, along with Eight/Jude's heterochromia and birthmark, and now Seven tilts more into the mech direction. I also hadn't figured out what Five's face would look like under the mask yet, and Nine/Nathaniel's hair being bleached was basically an afterthought that I decided to come up with an explanation for later. (iirc I didn't want Three to be the only brunette, so I debated Eight and Nine having brown hair. Pretty sure i made them blonde and bottle blonde respectively purely to have Three stand out more in the foreground for that one panel lmao)

also because I had vague ideas on their internal relationships I put a teaspoon of thought into their jumpsuit designs and how they relate to each other. Three and Five have the same earpieces and a black/white/accent color scheme. Eight and Nine have a black/grey/accent thing going on. Six's suit is a step removed from the rest of them with only black and blue happening, and the hardware around his face/ears matches Seven's design.

but yeah basically some stuff i had ideas for and planned out and other stuff i came up with after the fact, and a lot of stuff i threw in there and then came up with an explanation later lol

But for fun, here's a height chart comparison that I keep on hand whenever I write flavor text for the MC's height:

The MC's midpoint for each height option is taken for this, otherwise it wouldn't quite fit the chart. So the option for MC to be tall, for example, is between 180 - 189 cm, but in the chart the midpoint of 185 cm is taken for ease of reference.

can we get some tsaritsa headcanons of yours? specifically appearance wise because i gen don't know how to picture her in my head.

YES because i've thought about it extensively and revised it like 20 times. um. don't expect a full descriptor though i run on Vibes tm

the core of tsaritsa to me is a careful dichotomy of archon of cryo + goddess of love. creating the ideal symbol of love and also frigid and emotionless. of a warrior as much as a leader. Childe speaks of this especially (describing her as a true warrior, arrogant and cold in Childe's delusion story, again with Childe but in his "about Tsaritsa" voice line describing her as gentle, "too gentle"). this is the base of her design, to me.

originally i leaned towards "very tall but very lean" at first but i've kind of leaned in the opposite direction lately. still view her as very tall (inhumanely, even), but i've taken a lot of inspiration from marble statues (and sometimes paintings) as a reference (notably and obviously, aphordite) in terms of body structure with the only exception being i view her with broader shoulders then typically painted/sculpted. facial structure is a different matter, but the general view i have is "angular and sharp" (prominent cheekbones, defined jawline, etc).

to be more specific as well, i tend to make the tsaritsa very colorless. the most color she gets is the occasional shades of blue, but most colors i associate with her are very monochrome in nature. i also use this to create a less "human" appearance for her as a personal hc of mine that the archons are all vaguely Off and not quite human in some manner. i portray this specifically in a few ways (extremely pale skin (to the point it makes her veins a lot more visible), white iris, etc) and a few other things i haven't quite settled on. i've considered the idea of her fingers having a black gradient (similar to arlecchino, in a manner) in reference to severe frostbite.

not quite as necessary to the design but i also just give all the Archons big teef on principle. nothing more intimidating then someone you thought was a funeral consultant flashing a set of teeth that can rip out your jugular with no effort!! +1 to unnerving factor. don't piss off the local mondstadt bard, either. it's a bit unnerving to see them when he's laughing like a madman.

speaking of unnerving, i usually write and view the tsaritsa as very stone faced. like, it could put arlecchino to shame. not a single emotion to be seen. you won't even see her face twitch if she's angry. if she smiles you've royally fucked up and you have roughly 0.2 seconds to live. g-dspeed.

another feature i usually add is claw jewelry because it just Fits. in silver, obviously. and she keeps those things sharp. don't get mistaken by the name she can maim a man with those.

i keep clothing very vague because im not familiar with traditional clothing (ill create a mock-up of a design some day. probably) but one of the core parts of it is the veil. don't think wedding veil, though. even if it's white i imagine it's design more as a mourning veil because it fits more with her character (while weddings are associated with "love", the mourning veil suits her better i think in this regard. delusional made up lore things babey!!!!).

So I am a Thomas Sanders introject and I don’t know if I count as a fictive or a factive (so I’m sorry if shouldn’t really be using this blog) because Im specifically sourced from the character version of him from his Sanders Sides webseries. And if whoever’s reading this doesn’t know what that is what you need to know is that character Thomas is MUCH closer to real life Thomas then most character versions of YouTubers. I had (he has) almost all of the same friends, same interests, very similar personality, and most likely similar struggles but I don’t know that for sure.

It’s just weird because I relate to a lot of factive posts about having a source that did some bad stuff (real life Thomas is currently being accused of underpaying his employees! great time for me to make my presence known to my headmates…) but I don’t actually remember doing any of that? I don’t know what I’m supposed to be and I keep hearing about social media posts saying the show I’m sourced from is declining in quality or that the influencer I’m maybe sourced from is making weird choices and I just want everything to shut up and I’m just… so tired

At least my sides are here, even when I become a voice in someone else’s head I can’t escape the voices in mine /lh 💗

(Side note I know it’s probably inevitable but the idea of anyone even slightly involved in my sources fandom seeing this post makes me irrationally nervous)

21. Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways.

God, I have so many, but I adore those very gritty art styles with a lot of solid black and heavy wrinkles/folds and realistic proportions (sometimes I draw with more realistic proportions, but a lot of my art as of late tends to be softly rounded or squishy chibi because that's easier for faster drawings, oof.)

I also adore art styles that resemble ink brush paintings so, so, so much. Gorgeous. Kojima Goseki's work for Lone Wolf and Cub.

Takada Akemi's art style, especially the one with more realistic proportions that heavily references photographs? Gorgeous. Lovely! I also like that she draws Yuu very clearly childlike compared to Creamy Mami, in the anime, they look so similar with the cutesier, rounder art style, it's hardly like she changes age at all!!

She also drew this Licca-chan for the Yunia Monogtatari special. ^^

he already apologized for the “ignoring/neglecting Alan” thing (albeit in a way Alan wasn’t 100% satisfied with- but that’s a wound for another bandage) but…

the thing he should probably apologize for is being so passionate when talking about breaking up with Alan(like, really passionate) instead of just doing it and sparing Alan the agony of “will he, won’t he”.

sure, he doesn’t have to apologize, but being like “oh i’ll break up with him in a heartbeat” loud enough for his partner to hear is a bit inconsiderate and hurtful, don’tcha think?
