The island is beautiful, yet strange—all sparkling beaches and lush jungle. Though she's long since grown used to the green trees and non-boiling ocean of Spirale, the feeling strikes her that she is farther from home than ever.
Food and fresh water aren't hard to find. Answers, however, have proven impossible. This place seems to have no artificial structures on it at all, to the dismay of Lilith's history-loving heart. But then, how would the Stars even know about this place, much less be able to send people here...
She's hunting in the woods when she sees a figure that is most decidedly not an animal. Another person? Not to be rude, but they're looking a bit dishevelled—oh Titan that's a child.
"Hello..." She approaches cautiously, not wanting to startle the girl. "Are you alright? You're not out here alone, are you?"

"You don't understand, she set them up to kill me!" All at once Lilith realizes how crazy she sounds. "She put ornaments under the windows, and irons attached to tripwires... the child is a monster!" A huff, and she crosses her arms.
"I am not intense. This is a perfectly normal reaction!"
"What, would you like to try to go in there?"
necroticrose:
“I’m going to turn her into a bird,” Lilith grumbled, brushing feathers off her shoulders. “It was sadistic, she set up traps all over her house! Paint cans, and toy cars…”
And here she is, getting laughed at by another child.
“I’ll be fine. My injuries heal quickly.” Benefits of being a lich. “When I get my hands on that child, however, I’m going to toss her out a window.”
Turn her into a bird? Did this lady have magic? It was definitely possible- she couldn’t quite see her ears to tell if she was from the Demon World like the witches she knew around here, but being aware of their magic was enough for her to not be surprised by what she said…at least not about magic.
“Ooookay, maybe pump the brakes a little bit? Toy cars and paint cans doesn’t sound sadistic to me, and if whoever did this was just an actual kid I don’t think it’s worth getting so intense over.”

🔮 orb for Anne :>
Oh, it is you. The 'dude' girl. Let us see the depths of your soul, then.
It is... flickering a blue color, but otherwise seems dimmed by something. I can make out a symbol, however. A sword, but held with three hands.
Hmm. Interesting, little one. Maybe there is more to you than I first assumed.
Think fast.

anneitsnobigdeal:
Something about this whole interaction got Anne thinking. Maybe she didn’t just have to be despondent when it came to missing her family and friends. If she got out there and made others feel good, maybe she’d feel better herself! Or they’d return the favor and bring those feelings about. It wouldn’t always be easy, but after everything she’d faced, she could definitely overcome the occasional bout of loneliness.
“Aww, well it takes some time to get used to cooking- pretty sure I ruined a couple of pans from how badly I screwed up before I got the hang of it. I’m a lot better now though, and I wouldn’t say no to you helping pay for the ingredients if you really want to! The money around here is weird- you’ll probably make it back in a couple days anyway?” She still didn’t quite get the system of the island’s digital currencies, but it had been enough to buy herself something from the nearest coffee or tea shop whenever the mood struck, so who was she to complain?
“Oh wow…yeah, I bet that is pretty weird. My parents are both Thai immigrants, but I was born and raised in Los Angeles! No talking ducks where I come from either…though, heh, I’ve actually already lived in another world that wasn’t my own before, where instead of humans there were frogs, toads, and newts who could all walk and talk too!” A pause. “I don’t know if that’s unusual to you, actually…”
Man, she’d never even considered that other worlds out there could be like Amphibia, where animals that were common in her world were just their world’s people. She didn’t know if that was exactly the kind of place Donald was from, but…she could find out!
“What’s your world like, anyway?”
He appreciated her trying to comfort him about his cooking skills. He didn’t have the heart to explain that he was just an extremely unlucky individual and every normal thing he could do had a chance to go wrong, especially in the kitchen. So he just took her word for it, nodding in agreement about the weird currency.
[I just can’t help but wonder how whoever’s in charge here manages to make it work! Digital currency sounds like a scam to me. But I am certain that I can pay for the ingredients, no problem!] He smiles, he’d taken up a couple of jobs, albeit he’d been fired from a lot of them, but he was saving up this ‘dust’ just for the holidays alone.
[Oh I’ve been to LA! It’s pretty close to Duckburg actually! Calisota is right above California.] So she was from one of these universes with humans, though the frog world was a surprise. It explains at least why she didn’t seem too uuh… confused about him being a duck.
[Well most of the people in my world are fellow birds. My best friends in college are 2 parrots, but my family are ducks. There are also Dogs, Pigs, and a bunch of others. I’ve met some Frogs as well! Though one of them was a god… or a demon, I don’t remember off the top of my head.] That particular adventure was not his fondest memory, but still.
[Otherwise, it’s a lot like this city actually. Very large, modern, and weird magic and tech things happening around. Just with ya know, ducks.] He chuckles. [What about you? How did you end up in a world of frogs? Sounds like an adventure that my family would end up getting into.]

Now, it’s not the first time he’s had to deal with being unwillingly transported to a different world, but at least he had some warning the last time. As it were right now, Grime is significantly disoriented and only by sheer luck (or lack thereof, depending on how you look at it) manages to catch a glimpse of a yellow shoe, singular, and a mop of brown hair in a crowd of humans. Not his first choice of a human companion, but it will do.
“Anne? Is this really the human world again? Is... Sasha here too? And what’s with the giant hole in the middle of the city?”
His gaze drifts up to focus on her face right as she turns around. Well. That’s interesting.
“Huh, you haven’t grown a bit since I last saw you ten years ago. Have you been eating your crickets?”

CANON QUESTIONNAIRE
@anneitsnobigdeal sent: 9, 12, 13!
9. Have you tweaked the character from canon? If so, what did you tweak?
I mean... maybe a little bit? I kind of lean into the headcanon that Luz has ADHD harder than what might be considered evidence in canon. But other than that, I kinda run with what canon’s given us, because I think it’s good.
12. What would you say is the most unique trait about your character?
answered!
13. Are there any other characters from the franchise you’d like to play?
Not in terms of roleplay, but I very much want to cosplay Eda.

Donald had been dealing with his own feelings about these mists. Every time he had to go in them in order to find his friends he'd inevitably be confronted with things he didn't want to be.
Now he was here making sure Anne was safe, with her he felt a lot better about things. He'd been listening vaguely, realizing just in time that she had spoken to him. He also didn't notice the change in scenery around them.
[Well it's been less dangerous than the hole at least.] He smiles back. He didn't even want to think about point zero, but this was at least more handleable if not just a touch spooky.
With her next exclamation, he looked around and saw they had indeed been transported somewhere, and it was the world Anne had been too! Amphibia, huh?
[Oh wow! This is pretty big. These mists must be drawn on your memories this time- at least. That's been my experience.] He chuckles a little sheepishly.
[Let's look around, yeah? I've always wanted to see this place since you've told me 'bout it.]
"Ugh, really hoping they'll be able to clear out these mists soon. I'm kinda tired of this city being even more mixed up than usual..." Anne had initially taken every measure she could to stop from wandering into the mists, but soon learned she'd need to face them head-on if she wanted to keep hitting up her favorite coffee shops. (Rain, shine, snow, reality-warping vapors...nothing kept those places shut down it seemed) At the very least she wanted to go around with someone else whenever possible, just in case she stumbled upon something she couldn't handle alone. She wasn't sure of her pal Donald's combat abilities, but he was at least willing to go places with her! Having someone to protect if she had to would probably bring out the best in her abilities anyway, if it came to that.
Of course, it had yet to come to that. All it had come to was having to trek through some scorching desert, then a barren frozen wasteland, and now a humid, swampy forest. The mists would throw any manner of weird world at them to slow them down, it seemed. "Really makes you wonder what sort of messed-up script-flipping "event" they'll throw at us next, huh?" she snarked, looking to her feathered friend with a wry smile. "The Stars sure do know how to make you feel at-"
The sarcastic remark trailed off as her eyes came up to look behind him, then around, her pace slowing slightly. "...Wait, I...I know these woods..." Looking off to the right of where they stood, Anne began to walk...then hurried up into a light- then more intense- jogging pace. The end of the path would come out to a wide open swamp, upon which there was built a small town, houses and stores wearing the trappings of medieval architecture. There was a larger building near the center- town hall, perhaps- a more ornate building with a sign reading "Stumpy's" on the front, a small rolling section upon which a house was built into a tree...out in the skyline, an occasional insect could be seen flying, much MUCH too easy to make out given how far away they should have been. Anne was frozen where she stood, her eyes starting to shimmer and prick up with tears.
"It's Wartwood...the city brought us to Amphibia...!"

A Thai Thanksgiving - cont. from ask \ @anneitsnobigdeal
The start \ Here!
Donald smiled grew wider. It filled with with utter joy to have made someone’s day with his gift. She seemed like she had a lot on her mind before, but she was suddenly full of energy. She also appeared to not be too phazed by the fact that he was a duck like he was used to hearing, but still.
[Oh boy! I’ve been Thailand, actually! The food there was so good, I would love to try some of your cooking! When you get the chance to of course.] He rubs the back of his head. [I wouldn’t want to trouble you… Anne, is it? It’s really nice to meet you. I’ll have to take you up on that sometime.]
He had quite a few questions for her, namely what she meant by a ‘frog world?’ I guess if he was from a duck world, then it made sense that there could be one of frogs. But other than that, he did enjoy trying new foods on his travels, in-between the harrowing adventures of course.
But he also remembered the mess he created in his kitchen just earlier, so maybe it would have to wait... well, he definitely turned the stove off for sure so staying out a little bit wouldn’t hurt.

"It may lead you somewhere you may like or dislike. Are you prepared for the risks?"
"Think I might finally be checking out what's going on down in that hole soon...man, though...Marcy would eat this up if she were still here. It sounds like just the kind of fantasy adventure quest she loves."

"Of course I was trying to get in without her permission," Lilith waves her hand dismissively. "It's not like she would have let me in if I'd knocked on the front door."
Hm. That's not great for keeping a low profile... and if she wants to get any credibility in this place...
Lying it is!
"I'm an old friend of her father's," Lilith sighs. Not technically a lie. "I wanted to check up on the kid, but she's not very friendly... or trusting for that matter."
"It's not my fault the little demon figured out how to rig her house with death traps."
@necroticrose (from x- new post bc I bungled up)
Yeah, "crazy" was right. The more this lady went on, the less Anne was convinced that she'd had wrong done unto her, at least to the extent she seemed to believe it had been. Clearly some context was missing, but the girl figured she had enough to put two and two together.
“Maybe the stuff you were put through was a lot for a kid to set up. But if they were traps laid in her house, the only way you could’ve set them off was if you were trying to get in without her permission. Sounds to me like she was right to set up all that stuff, and you’re just mad you fell into it.”

“Oh, it’s…not that bad, really. It’s not even the first time I’ve been stuck in a whole other world away from my friends and family before! This one’s way less swampy and has more modern comforts anyway…though I’m also away from all the other friends and family I made in that world too…”
“…I’ll take a pepperoni and mushroom.”
Yeah, it could always be worse. You could be sealed away in a crystal prison for thousands of years, you could live across the country from them, the list goes on.
Let’s get you that New Year’s pizza. You seem like you’ve kept up with your Accelerated Reader quizzes too, so, I don’t know what teens are into for distractions or entertainment. You want a game, or a book or something?
"Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year! Let's make this one the best that we can while...stranded in another dimension with a lot of people we love nowhere to be found."
Yes it sounds terrible but she's not going to let it drag her down.

“I hope not, this place has awful reception.”
By which he means no reception at all, actually. Much as Donnie is used to spending time outdoors lately he’s still not really into the quaint, rustic vibe this place has. His place was in his sterile, well-ventilated lab, not a medieval frog village. Though he has to admit, being in a new world that’s so different from his own, even in a dream, was kind of really cool.
But he definitely would not want to be stuck here for months.
“...So this is a whole world filled with anthropomorphic amphibian creatures and also giant bugs and birds?.. I guess I wouldn’t stick out as much as you do, at least, even if I am half-reptile.”
@mystictechbo liked x for a Dreamscape starter!
“It definitely took me some time to get used to life in Wartwood, but I think you’ll fit in a lot easier! Not like you’ll have to be here for all the months I was, anyway.”
The pair were standing just a hop, skip, and jump away from a quaint little farm, the main building recessed into a giant tree stump- the Plantar family home, a sight that had Anne positively beaming. Quickly realizing she’d wound up in a dream with a stranger, she was feeling pretty optimistic about going through this, even with somebody she didn’t know. If she was back in Wartwood, this had to be a good memory, right? Surely it would be a pleasant time for her, and for this…overgrown two-legged turtle guy. Not one of the kinds of people she’d met before, but she was still convinced he would be able to vibe with any dream frogs he ran into. It kind of made her wonder why there weren’t any turtle folk in Amphibia.
Turtles were amphibians, right? Darn D+ in biology.
“And if we stick to town, we probably won’t even have to run into any of the giant bugs or birds or other terrifying creatures we could find around here! So let’s not go out of our way to make this a nightmare.”
