Honestly, something that I noticed when rereading the book was that when they have to remove from the house, Anne actually walks to where Lady Russel lives. It kind of stood out to me, that in a situation that Anne has very little control over (her family having to rent out their house due to poor financial planning) she's still taking an active role in how she wants to leave her house. And yeah I agree overall sentiment that Anne still probably has a fairly nice wardrobe and that she's not necessarily neglected materially-- just emotionally. It's a subtle thing but I'd love for an adaptation attempt to show this aspect of the story.

One problem I have with the adaptions of Persuasion is the removal from Kellynch. Both the 2007 & 1996 movies show Sir Walter and Elizabeth go off in the carriage and then Anne go in some cart like a peasant. It's movie shorthand for neglected child, but it's not right. Lady Russell takes Anne and Sir Walter would never let his daughter travel that way.

The Elliots neglect Anne's mind and don't value her input, but I am sure she has fine gowns and everything else that makes her look her station. Because Sir Walter wants them to appear as a happy, prosperous family. Anne's neglect is emotional not material.

When Anne gets to Bath, the Elliots want Anne at every party, whether she wants to go or not. She's not like Cinderella in that way, neglected and left out, she's unloved and not listened to, which is harder for a movie to demonstrate.

LOL I’ve once had purple hair so... maybe a neon red? Like it’s red but glows in the dark!

LOL I mean it changes on mood.

Overall, dark colors baby (preferably black pls). Winged eyeliner. Nude dark lipstick. Renaissance or minimalism. Accents and tones - if we’re gonna incorporate color lol (cool tones unless it’s dark reds!!). film camera/grainy aesthetics. Museums, coffee shops and walks in the park. Road tripping on good days and exploring the city or forest on better days. Sketches and piano. Pencil for creativity and markers to prove a point.

Another thought on Netflix Persuasion...

Something that just occurred to me that I haven’t really seen anyone else bring up is that it’s kind of a big plot point that Anne has lost her bloom in Persuasion. But in this version, like did they do anything to Dakota Johnson to make her look like someone who has prematurely aged and been depressed for the last several years? It doesn’t even if feel like they’re trying to hit that plot point

Searching For An Empty Seat

This scene in the 2022 Netflix adaptation of Persuasion is extremely awkward, intended to be funny, no doubt. It's likely that people would have allocated places at the dinner table, either according to rank or as directed by the hostess. No one would wander the table trying to find a place. Nor would a lady be forced to pull in her own chair, if there was no gentleman to help, then a servant certainly would.

The lyric speaks of feeling out of place which Anne certainly does, she's trying to find her footing with people she's usually comfortable around. In the novel she plays at the pianoforte so Captain Wentworth can dance with the Miss Musgroves', her eyes filling with tears as she, and any eligibility she may have, is ignored. Captain Wentworth is still aware of her, he asks whether she dances and in the above scene he watches her, only sitting once she's found her seat.
