Gilbert Blythe x fem!Reader

The sun dipped below the rolling hills of Avonlea, casting an amber glow across the landscape. Gilbert Blythe, with his characteristic disheveled hair and thoughtful gaze, strolled through the orchard, a place that had witnessed the blossoming of friendships and the unveiling of tangled emotions.

Avonlea was abuzz with preparations for the upcoming fair, a festivity Y/n L/n held dear in her heart. As Gilbert walked past the vibrant stalls and fluttering banners, he couldn't help but notice the vivacity in Y/n's step, her eyes sparkling with an enthusiasm that painted the world in hues of her imagination.

Yet, beneath Gilbert's calm exterior, a storm brewed. A quiet jealousy, like an unexpected visitor, had taken residence in his heart. It wasn't the kind born out of malice but rather a realization of the changing dynamics between them.

Yln, oblivious to the tempest within Gilbert, happily chatted with Cole and Diana, her laughter weaving into the summer breeze. As Gilbert observed from a distance, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was standing on the periphery of her universe.

His heart, usually steady as the Avonlea river, now raced with an unfamiliar cadence. Why did he feel this way? Gilbert grappled with the turmoil, his fingers absentmindedly tracing the edge of the fair's prize ribbon he held.

Later that day, under the canopy of stars, Gilbert found himself by the bridge, a place where moments unfolded like chapters in a story. The rhythmic sound of cicadas filled the air as Y/n approached, her gaze alighting upon Gilbert's contemplative silhouette.

"Hey, Gil. Are you alright?" Y/n inquired, a glimmer of concern in her eyes.

The words struggled to find their way out of Gilbert's mouth, but the truth, as elusive as it was, demanded expression. "Y/n, do you ever feel like things are changing, and you're not sure where you fit in anymore?"

Y/ns brow furrowed, a reflection of her confusion. "Change is a constant, Gilbert. But you'll always have a place in my heart. In my world." With the last sentence that left her mouth, her eyes softened, feeling sadness for the boy standing by her.

His heart, still entangled with vines of uncertainty, yearned for more. With a breath held in the quiet night, Gilbert spoke the words that fluttered within. "Y/n, it's not just about the changing world. It's about me, about us. It's about what we could possibly be. I can't stand on the sidelines anymore, y/n. I want to be more than a distant star in your sky."

It was a balm to Gilbert's restless heart, and yet, a lingering question remained unspoken. As they stood on the bridge, the moon casting its silver glow upon the water, the bond between them seemed to shimmer with an understanding beyond words.

Y/n's eyes widened, finally realizing the gravity of his confession. "Gilbert..."

Before she could say more, he took a step closer, his hand cupping her cheek. "I can't hold back any longer," he admitted, and in the soft glow of moonlight, he kissed her.

Their lips met, a silent promise of untold emotions and uncharted paths. The orchard witnessed the quiet culmination of a friendship blossoming into something more, as the stars overhead continued their timeless dance. In that stolen moment, Gilbert and Y/n discovered a new chapter in the story of Avonlea—a chapter written with ink that glistened with unspoken feelings.

you whined, rubbing your hands together and blowing hot air onto them, in an attempt to keep them from freezing in this cold winter weather. 

jerry smiled softly and watched, your cheeks red from the cold air around you.

"you can have my gloves, if you'd like!" he suggested and slipped off his gloves from his hands, reaching them out towards you. "they'll keep you warm" 

"oh no, keep them! you'll just get cold yourself!"

you gently pushed the gloves away and shook your head as you spoke. you couldn't accept his gloves if it meant jerry would have to freeze instead of you! 

"then…" jerry put his gloves back on as he spoke, before reaching his hands out towards you once more. "how about i hold your hands to keep them warm~?"

Anyway, chapter-by-chapter commentary for The Hour, the Spot, the Look, the Words, starting now!

Chapter One: A Place to Call Home Fun fact: I originally planned for The Hour to be a series of drabbles (I was writing Important Nothings at the time and wanted to do a Darcy/Elizabeth project in the same style). I very quickly changed direction when I realized I had a ton of material ready to go in the form of a million D/E scraps accumulated over years of writing about these two idiots. Also, I had no idea what to use for a chapter title here, but I was working in a library at that point, and A Place to Call Home was an enormously popular series with our patrons (I put those DVDs away so. many. times.). Voila, chapter title.

The newlywed Darcys had, at last, arrived at Pemberley, and Fitzwilliam had dismissed the servants.

“I will show Mrs. Darcy around the place,” he had said.

Elizabeth glowed with happiness at the words Mrs. Darcy, and Mrs. Reynolds had positively beamed at the pair of them. Mrs. Reynolds is lowkey the hero of Pride and Prejudice, and, let's be real, she ships Elizabeth/Darcy harder than any of us.

Fitzwilliam offered her his hand. “Shall we?”

She took it with a smile and allowed him to lead her up the stairs, giggling as his pace increased and he took the top few steps at a run.

He turned around to look at her, his face shining with a boyish delight that she had never seen before.

“What would you like to see first?” he asked.

“Oh, I do believe I should inspect everything,” said Elizabeth archly. “The mistress of Pemberley ought to, you know.”

He smiled at this phrase. “I quite agree.” Some Courtney Lore that I have alluded to: my best friend and I came up with elaborate backstories and headcanons and scenarios for pretty much everything in Austen, and especially P&P, and this scene has lived in my mind, in one form or another, since I was about sixteen. We basically plotted out The Newlywed Tour as a way to thoroughly map Pemberley. I could draw up the blueprints if I had to. 

And so he did show her around the place, all of the rooms that she had seen before, and many, many more that she had not.

“I am a bit frightened, Fitzwilliam, of getting lost in your house.” 

“Our house,” he corrected. “And you will learn your way around soon enough.”

“That is very true,” she said. “And after all, I do not intend to be apart from you long enough to have the chance to lose my way, so I shall always have a guide.”

The tour was very enjoyable, but still more was the pleasure of feeling her hand in his, and of hearing his obvious gratification in speaking of Pemberley, his eager anticipation of showing her all of his favorite spots in the house and on the grounds, and his wish for her to see them all to their best advantage. She let the sound of his voice wash over her as he told her of names, and dates, and events, content to listen and to admire him equally as well as the estate.

He led her to yet another door, pausing slightly before opening it. They stepped into an elegant, airy sort of room with a spectacular view. 

“This was my mother’s favorite room,” he said softly. I'll explore it eventually, but my headcanon is that Darcy's relationship with his mother was much more complicated than with his father. It wasn't bad! He loved her very much! But the dynamic was complex! 

“It is beautiful,” Elizabeth breathed, leaning into his arm and taking in the sight. The windows were large, offering a delightful prospect of the grounds glistening with snow, and it would be an even more magnificent sight in the full bloom of spring. It seemed a serene, restful space; she could easily see why Lady Anne had loved this room. I struggle with writing descriptions of places. I vividly recall trying to write about this damn room, when all I wanted was to put IT'S BREATHTAKING, THIS IS A BIG GESTURE, LET'S MOVE ON. I'm just saying, this mediocre paragraph took ages and caused me physical pain. 

“I would like for you to have it.” He had watched her intently and seen all the delight that had passed over her face.

She looked up at him, startled. 

“Oh, no, if it was your mother’s favorite, it should stay as it is." She thought of his father’s favorite room, kept so perfectly that the miniature of Wickham still remained. One of those details about Darcy that I find endlessly fascinating. I want to know how often he goes into that room; if he avoids it entirely or averts his eyes from That Man when he's in there or if he just grits his teeth and bears it.   "I could not possibly--”

“Georgiana and I have already discussed it,” he said, looking at her earnestly. “This has not been our mother’s sitting room for a very long time. If you like it, it is yours.” Headcanon about Darcy is that he includes Georgiana in a lot of this sort of decision-making. 

“I do like it,” said Elizabeth, touched.

“It is settled then.” 

He squeezed her hand gently, looking pleased. She took one last look at the room before they shut the door once more. The view really was breathtaking, and it was hers. The house was hers. This wonderful, honorable, good man was hers. What had she done to deserve such happiness?

Lost in these thoughts, she scarcely noticed that Fitzwilliam had paused again, looking wistful.

“Georgiana and I used to race down this passage,” he said, smiling slightly at the reminiscence. 

Elizabeth looked at him with amazement.

“When?” she asked. She was unable to picture it.

“It would have been when I was about sixteen or so,” he said, “just after my mother died. Georgiana was four. My father--” he hesitated. “That was a difficult period for all of us. I spent most of my time with Georgiana. It seemed to bring her some happiness, and we spent hours up here.” He gave a crooked little smile. “We made a great deal of noise and destroyed our stockings." Darcy is the best big brother ever, guys. I'm not sure what else to tell you.

And Elizabeth could picture it now: her husband, so much younger than she had ever known him, comforting his little sister by running up and down this passage, laying aside his own grief to help relieve hers. There were so many little things like this that she did not know about him; a seemingly endless stream of evidence to prove how kind he had been for so long, how rightfully beloved he had been to the people in his life, how badly she herself had misjudged him. The Mrs. Reynolds chapter in canon is SO IMPORTANT. Darcy is good and kind and generous to his people. He is not a complete jerk, totally reformed by Elizabeth. He is a situational jerk, rightfully shamed by Elizabeth to extend his natural goodness outside of his comfort zone. ;)

...Sorry, that's a pet peeve.

She wanted to know everything. 

They continued to wander through Pemberley, looking into more rooms than Elizabeth could count, and eventually found themselves at the top of another sweeping staircase.

“My father and I used to slide down this balustrade when I was a boy,” Fitzwilliam said fondly. “It is the best one in the house.” BLATANT HOMAGE TO ELLA ENCHANTED. Not even an homage. BLATANT STEALING FROM ELLA ENCHANTED. Ella/Char was my first real OTP (Felicity Merriman/Ben Davidson predates it, but I didn't have the terminology then. I've been a hopeless romantic since I was about six). I was thrilled to learn recently that Gail Carson Levine had some elements of Elizabeth and Darcy in mind with Ella and Char. Anyway, imagine your OTP, etc.

He smiled at Elizabeth’s expression. 

“I begin to believe, Fitzwilliam, that I shall never stop being surprised by you.” I think that Elizabeth loves this. 

This provoked from him a more mischievous look than she had imagined him capable of forming.

“I cannot always be serious,” he said, his eyes sparkling. “I will catch you at the bottom.”

With a laugh, she watched him go, feeling all of the privilege of seeing this side of him, and then followed him down. One of the things I return to, again and again, is Elizabeth getting a side of Darcy that few others see. It's just so warm, guys, I don't know. <3

Ominis Gaunt X Musician! MC! Hufflepuff! Reader

A cute little drabble. E for Everyone. I gave into the urges. Basic stuff. You can play instruments and you sing like a angel. Basic Fanfic stuff lol

The song used is I Hear A Symphony- Cody Fry

Ominis never had the best childhood. He was always a puppet used by his mother. He has grown tired of this fate he was forced into but, he would have to solve this problem after he has graduated Hogwarts.

His Fifth year so far has been very eventful in his book. Sebastian friended the newest student, a late fifth year.

The fifth year and Ominis didn't have the best start to your friendship. He misunderstood your intentions and soon let you into his little circle. You gained the trust of Sebastian and Anne. Ominis didn't fully trust you but, he was slowly becoming more and more comfortable with you.

When you started at Hogwarts, you were sorted into Hufflepuff. Honestly, he and Sebastian thought Slytherin would have fit you better with all the trouble you seem to attract. But, when it comes down to it, you didn't fit into any house. You had every aspect of all the houses. You did show more Hufflepuff traits at times but, they really just wish you were sorted into their house so they could be with you more.

Ominis and Sebastian would spend all of there free time with you, of course, when you weren't on some assignment. Everyone in Hogwarts always saw the three of you together, be it breakfast, lunch, dinner, in the halls, class, etc.

As time went on, Sebastian soon deep dove into books and into searching for a cure for Anne. You both understood what Sebastian was trying to do and Ominis didn't want anything to do the the Dark Arts. You, on the other hand, were slightly enticed with the forbidden. You learned a number of spells just to know how to do them.

But, no matter how hard you tried to be there with Sebastian to go down the road he was traveling, you couldn't and he was straying farther away.

Soon enough, It was just you and Ominis. You keep getting brushed off and only talked to do things for Sebastian's benefit. With the distance, the two of you became much closer, to the point of Ominis revealing his past to you. You did the same. He seemed to become more and more reliant on your presence. He'd hate to admit it but, he has grown fond of you. He hates the idea of not being independent because of how far he has come in his life but, he loves you more than his independence.

You, on the other hand, has always been fond of Ominis. You found him to be very attractive and loved his eyes. They may be murky to others but, to You, you can see so much more. You love it all.

You found yourself alone one day on the castle. Ominis was in class. You sat nearby, bored out of your mind. A group of students walked by but, what they said peaked your interest. Hogwarts has a music room somewhere? You love music so, this peaked your interest.

You stood up and walked to one of the many portraits on the wall if they knew where it was. They pointed you in the right direction. The portraits and such in the castle really like you for some reason. You then asked the portrait to tell Ominis where you went when he got out of class for you. Of course, being courteous to the portrait. They agreed and off you went.

After a short walk, you found the music room. Some ghosts played with the instruments, other than that, you were alone. You saw a beautiful grande piano sit in the middle of the room. You saw a violin resting on it as well.

You walked closer to the piano in amazement. You haven't played an instrument since you cam to Hogwarts. You were so happy to find a room to play in again.

You sat down in the bench. You pressed down the pedals and play a few cords. Getting the familiar feeling of the keys. You shook the jitters out of your hands before clearing your throat.

The room soon seemed to pause the chaos of musical noises as the Hufflepuff girl began to softly sing,

I used to hear a simple song That was until you came along Now in it's place is something new I hear it when I look at you

After her first chorus, her hands began to cascade across the ivory keys. Her eyes closed as she started to feel the music flow through her. She pressed the pedals as she played the cords.

On of the ghost ladies gasped and whispered to the people around her. They flew to grab some stringed instruments. It was like it was rehearsed. They slowly joined the young girl in her song.

With simple songs I wanted more Perfection is so quick to bore You are more beautiful by far Our flaws are who we really are

She played with her heart opened and her eyes closed. As the song progressed, she didn't hear the door to the room gently open. Ominis made it just in time for the second chorus. He took the chair next to the door and listened to your angelic voice fill the room. His wand made out a slight picture for him to "see" what was going on. He knew you were playing the piano and the ghosts were playing the strings. He sat in awe as he listened to you.

I used to hear a simple song That was until you came along You took my broken melody And now I hear a symphony Ah-ah oh-ooh-oh ah-ah

Your hands became more dynamic and your motions became more filled with emotion as the end of the song came closer. Everything sudden paused, Y/n slowly opened her eyes and sang the last part of the song,

And now I hear a symphony

You finished the song. You felt eyes on your back. You turned and saw Ominis sitting there. You suddenly felt very shy,

"U-um, Ominis. I expected class to be a but longer?"

Ominis gave you a grin,

"We were released early. Who was the song for?"

He slowly stood up and made his way over.

You turned back to the piano and play some notes. Your face reddened,

"O-oh. You know. A p-person I know."

Ominis sat on the bench next to you. He turned to you,

"Do I know him?"

You nodded slightly. Ominis knew it was for him but, he wants you to come out and say it. So, he'll keep prodding until you admit it. He softly whispered to you,

"You're are more beautiful by far, Our flaws are who we really are."

You looked towards him,

"You are beautiful to me. Your flaws don't matter to me. It makes you more beautiful to me."

Ominis smiled and moved his hand to yours. He held your hand as you looked at him in surprise. He moved his other hand to your face and traced your lips with his thumb. He then leaned in and kissed you softly. You both were blushing as he kissed you. Once you parted, you sat hand in hand and forehead to forehead.

Ominis whispered softly,

"I'm in love with you. Please be mine."

You smiled,

"Of course. I'm in love with you too."

He squeezed your hand once more,

"Play for me. Please."

You giggled and slowly released your hands. You turned and started to play some more cords and songs you know. Ominis just sat with you and leaned his head on your shoulder with his arm around your waist. Finally, the fire can finally burn between you two. Nothing will be able to split you both apart, Not in a million years. Ominis will fight to protect this special connection you two have formed. He will protect you all that he can. He loves you and you love him.

But now I'm just worried about Daisy. Initially, I thought he was ridiculous and full of ego, not worth losing my heart to. But she gets to see the Jack that's deep down inside that Whiskey persona and...well...never say never.

Is there anything as lovely as when Jack's both a scamp and a gentleman all at once? He's the master at it and I am a puddle at his feet.

How Wrong You Are by @haylzcyon A short and sweet piece wherein Jack professes his care in the aftermath of a sketchy getaway. Haylz is never over-saccharine, but hits all the notes just right, just like a damn fine Whiskey indeed.

He's a confident lover, putting the object of his affection exactly where he needs them...and where they will soon understand they need to be. - toxic/bad ships, for example: snape and hermione. and i will absolutely not write ships for characters that are related to each other or have a major age difference!!! or any weird ones like dobby × harry.

- certain tws! anything that relates to r*pe, incest, pedophilia, eating disorders, sewerslide, etc. other tws i have written before and are okay for me to write, like self-harm, suicidal thoughts, heavy angst/whump, blood/violence, etc. if you're unsure you can always ask me, or i'll let you know if i'd prefer not to write a certain topic

- crack ships, it's just not my thing as i don't really write anything that's meant to be super/only comical

- certain characters: this goes along with the toxic ships, etc. but there are certain characters i will refuse to write. an example is billy hargrove or peter petigrew. the reasons of why i won't may vary but it shall be respected regardless

Upcoming 2024 Events & Projects

I’ll be sharing a 2024 goals list in a separate post, but I’m definitely not going to try planning out my event schedule in advance, I take it a month or two at a time based on what I’m in the mood for. Immediate goals are to finish Battlefields before we get too far into January and then avoid picking up any more commitments until Candy Hearts time, I’m feeling the midwinter burnout coming on and I need a bit of a breather.

5. Do you respond to comments? I don't 😭 I want to but I never know what to say and before I know it, the comment is 2 years old oops. I reread comments all the time ❤

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? That's tough to say for sure but I think every lessons forms a new scar ending with an off-screen character death is probably the most angst I've ended with so far.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? That would have to be All the Words I Don't Have again. Everything is beautiful and nothing hurts. And Lockwood writes some really bad poetry.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Not so far.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I do sometimes, and it's not published yet.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Another Change of Plans is the most tumblr WIP I have lol. It dares to start asking the question, "What if the Old Guard adopted Adam Young, the antichrist from Good Omens?"

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of.

12. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Sort of? There was one collab fic I wrote a scene for but it never got finished. Someday I might post my part, because ngl I'm pretty proud of the Skull/Lucy banter in it.

13. What’s your all time favorite ship? How could I ever choose??? By bookmark stats, it would be Marinette and Adrien from Miraculous Ladybug. But cot3 (Lockwood & Co) and Superbat (DC) are up there too.

14. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? A better question is what isn't a WIP I'll never finish??? I have dozens 😭 Though one that stands out is an old Frozen fic I outlined in I think 2018(?). The premise is a canon divergence where Anna's death is faked when they're children and she's raised in the village instead of in the castle. There are two full acts that are just set up for a The Prince And Me/Princess Diaries-esque rom-com between suddenly-a-princess Anna and just-a-normal-guy Kristoff.

The outline on its own is about 8k words, and frankly I've considered editing and posting the outline itself before because it's detailed enough. This fic is actually a drabble I wrote to take place within my AU, but it reads canon compliant enough of its own so I posted it.

15. What are your writing strengths? Ideas. I am always getting new plot bunnies, always getting excited about the next great idea, always thinking about new aspects of these worlds and characters I want to explore.

16. What are your writing weaknesses? Dialogue and volume. That's why I write so many descriptive, very short fics XD

17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I'd only do it in a language I've studied for a couple years, and even then I would want a native speaker to read over it for me. But it hasn't come up yet?

I do really like Superbat or Star Trek fics where the author sparingly includes Kryptonian / Klingon / Vulcan with a translation at the end.

18. First fandom you wrote for? My Little Pony, or maybe Percy Jackson?? I'm too scared to check my old accounts to see which came first, if I ever even posted the fics I remember writing then at all.

19. Favorite fic you’ve written? building glass castles for sure!!! I love the atmosphere in it, and the monologue from Skull. That monologue came to me in the middle of the night once, so I had to type it up immediately and build the fic around it later.
